is there a reason mapicc passively wants to kill rek or is it just a mapey thing 😭
#lifesteal spoilers#i can think of at least like 3 different occasions where hes like “can we kill rek?” or “i wanna kill rek if we can”#and its so funny bc i dont think rek has actually done anything to him#i mean there was the sand thing but he gave the heart back iirc?#and idt its a case of him escaping mapicc Or having undeserved hearts bc he has killed for all of his hearts#and i dont...think theyve ever rly fought aside from the parrot day?#idek its just funny bc i was just thinking abt the empire-sticklers alliance thing#and how mapicc resents jumper for Obvious reasons and wants to kill rek for non obvious reasons#im actually shocked chief didnt kill ro during parrot day bc tbh she was a sitting duck#and hes like tried to kill jumper before bc hes loyal to REK and not reks teammates#i dunno that alliance genuinely does fascinate me#esp since both teams can barely be called functional teams LOL

i mean it’s probably gonna be clarified and stuff but I love the idea that scara is all hollow inside. he is not as heavily programmed as the shogun so he is able to think his own thoughts, and he’s capable of expressing emotions (tears) but I love the idea that he has no heartbeat or he doesn’t breathe. he learned to mimic those movements so he would not seem out of place but it is not a necessity for him. if he hurts it is a vague sort of pain, but it is the wear and tear of his own ball joints that hurts him more. he’s able to feel his own emotions but it is duller, more muted. like there’s something blocking him from experiencing what he’s truly feeling, and the feeling of being detached bothers him more from than the lack of the whole thing. once he received the gnosis and he puts it in himself, everything he feels is heightened. the powers that were sealed from him flows from his fingertips and his emotions are more stronger. if he experiences happiness then it is pure happiness, not that dull detached feeling he’d been familiar with. once he had the gnosis—his heart— he experiences what it truly feels like to be alive. that’s why when nahida was taking it from him, he didn’t want to let go of it because he’ll be reverted back to that hollow sense of self again.
it’s such a shame that we never saw how he fought when he was still a harbinger. i’d imagine he wields a sword and his fighting style is similar to the shogun that the traveller fights in the start of the inazuma. maybe he has an electro delusion iirc they gave him a false heart per the husk sands lore. his delusion mimics the gnosis and acts as his heart but it doesn’t compare to the real thing. he made do with the delusion but it never felt right. i imagine he never needed the delusion to be powerful to begin with. his fighting prowess stemmed from ei, and every skill she learnt have been programmed onto him albeit in a beginner’ stage. as in, the current shogun puppet fights similarly than him but she’s more refined, whereas since he was the prototype, he’s the one who’s been used as trial and error so his own skills are not as polished.
