Toshiro defense post
Hi everyone! So, I know this topic has been discussed a bunch of times before xd, but I keep seeing people say nonsense about Toshiro so… strap in cause this is another Toshiro explanation post!!
IMPORTANT: I do want to clarify that it’s fine if you dislike Toshiro. After all, everyone has the right to dislike characters so I’m not going to stop you, I know it’s not that serious. But then I’d like to ask you to stop spreading misinformation about him, use him for angst stuff that mischaracterizes him or any of that xd. Like, dislike him in peace xd but stop using him as a villain. Also, before any of you say “I understand his complexities but…” let me stop you bc most of the time you don’t xd. Like you acknowledge the microaggressions and other things but use other poor excuses for hating him or invalidate that, so please read this post and keep an open mind!! Finaly, this post is going to touch on and disprove the following topics: 1. Toshiro hates Laois (together with stuff like how he is ableist and an asshole) 2. Toshiro is a huge hypocrite for liking Fallin (together with how he doesn’t really love her) and 3. Toshiro was racist towards itsutzumi (without getting too into complex race politics). I will also back up my arguments by content in the anime and some of the extras from the manga, despite that I will not delve on spoiler related content so, let’s get to it!
1. Toshiro hates Laios.
Something that people use to hate on Toshiro is his famous fighting scene with Laois, saying things like “Toshiro was ableist towards Laois” “Toshiro is a hypocrite because he complains about poor communication, but why didn’t he say anything himself?” “Toshiro hates Laois” but before we tackle this let’s recap:
In this scene they fight over the fact that Laois has poor social skills and doesn’t understand the ways Toshiro expresses his annoyance at him and his desire to have some space, he also accuses Laois of being unserious about saving Fallin and even says that he has always hated Laois. This scene resonated with MANY people that have experienced this exact same conversation with “friends” who would get mad at them for showing neurodivergent traits, I am one of those people as well so I can totally understand. So, them seeing themselves in Laois and their acquaintance in Toshiro people accuse him of being ableist, but this:
Is not that. First of all, it’s important to note that Toshiro’s complaints come from his cultural background as an easterner, where he is used to subtle communication, and by his upbringing as an heir of his island (something that is explained by this thread in great detail!! But to summarize it basically says that he has become more reserved due to his retainer’s overbearing nature and do to being compared to his father constantly and by being surrounded by rumors of his family, so he chooses to not speak out as to cause more trouble for himself). Second of all he doesn’t really do anything ableist… many people say that they hate him “because he was a huge dick to Laois” but apart from expressing his frustration by yelling and fighting, something rude of course, what ableist or horrid thing did he do? He didn’t call him names or anything, and even acknowledges the fact that Laois is someone who acts in good fate and doesn’t mean any harm to him, but he still dislikes his actions (not a bad thing at all). It’s also important to note that Toshiro is TIRED in this scene, he hasn’t eaten or slept in 3 whole days and suddenly he bumps into a bunch of problems and the girl he loves turned into a monster by this guy who seems WAY to relaxed about it and who he already has gripes against, my question is: Who wouldn’t lash out? Additionally, this scene is important for him too!! As he finally stands up for himself and expresses his feelings, something that drives his character development into being a better guy.
On top of all that, it’s also important to note that Toshiro himself shows signs of being neurodivergent just that in a different way than Laois. For example, his hyperfocus on saving Fallin making him ignore his needs, his overreliance on social cues to understand others, his stand offish an awkward nature that doesn’t let him connect with the people around him and his difficulty to express his needs. These are things many neurodivergent people can relate to, and dare I say, things Laois shares with him!! They both suck socially which is literally what causes this, so what makes him so different? So hard to forgive? What makes it hard to understand him but not Laois? And let’s all not forget the fact that Laois has been pulling a microaggression on him by calling him a butchered version of his name this entire time! It doesn’t make him evil! But it shows how they have a complex relationship where both sides where right. (Also, I know this is a complicated topic and I know there are poc people who hate him BUT, to me the issue is that he 1. Has a meltdown and 2. He’s not white. Like it is very known and said that poc cannot express themselves in such freeing ways as our white counterparts, so it’s harder to be nd and poc than white and nd, which is somehow the case for Toshiro as well xd. Many people say that he shows how people only like nd traits when they’re palatable, but this argument goes back to you, you might find nd traits better when it’s on a white guy you can baby and not on the Asian guy who should know better. None of them should have to, characters are allowed to do bad things and fix those errors).
Lastly, Toshiro mends his mistake immediately!! He doesn’t hate Laois, if anything he holds complicated feelings towards him for a while, which most of the cast do (more on this later). Some people seriously act like this didn’t happen, but at the end of the fight he admits that he doesn’t hate Laois (media literacy check but not everything a character says while angry is true!!) but envies his free spirited and straight forward nature. And if this doesn’t seem enough to mend his mistake, he gives Laois the calling bell, which will immediately send someone to help him and fetch him to the east. Would you have a guy that you HATE as a refugee in your country? Plus, he’s serious about the bell too! This scene wasn’t added in the anime, but there’s a point where Toshiro and Kabru are leaving and they keep hearing the bell, which they point out as annoying, despite that Toshiro always keeps it with him and says that if the noise stops, he will know to fetch Laios. If he really hated him, why would he keep a loud object around him just to make sure he is safe? (There’s literally a scene where it goes off after Laois throws it and he just acts embarrassed that it’s interrupting a conversation, but he doesn’t leave it or anything).
2. Toshiro is a huge hypocrite for liking Fallin.
With that point out of the way, lets get to the 2nd problem: Toshiro’s crush on Fallin. Let me preface once more by saying I LOVE Farcille and think they’re a very cute ship, but using Toshiro as your angst bait is not cool and super ooc (clarification: I don’t mean like a respectful joke about him getting rejected or exploring marcille’s thoughts on his proposal, I mean bashing on him hard or saying that he would intervene or disapprove of a farcille relationship).
Ok so in this case, many people say that Toshiro is a HUGE hypocrite because of 2 things: 1. He likes Fallin but dislikes Laois even though they’re almost identical, and 2. Because he claims to love Fallin while abandoning her and condemning black magic.
So, let’s get into why this is not true:
We have already discussed how Toshiro does not dislike Laois, but pushing that out of the way, the one thing he “dislikes” about Laois is the one thing he does not share with Fallin, which is their social awareness. Fallin is significantly more socially aware and tends to do things as to avoid burdening others, putting her needs aside, she’s someone who is very thoughtful and mindful of the people around her, unlike Laois who, while also thoughtful and kind, is not as receptive (Also crazy to note that her and Toshiro share this “not fully sharing my feelings as to not burden others” thing). Besides that, he likes that Fallin likes bugs/nature (the same thread from before has a nice possible explanation if you want to check it out) something that could be related to Laois’s love for monsters which, fun fact, he doesn’t hate at all!! Something that, funnily enough, others seem to give Laois flack over but not Fallin (crazy how there aren’t as many people shitting on Marcille or chilchuck for this?? specially since Fallin also likes monsters but Marcille never says anything about it and centers her annoyance on Laois? Wow… (I don’t hate Marcille for this either btw, I’m being sarcastic). And on the topic of this double standard, I’ve seen many people ask how he thinks he can marry into the Toudens while hating Laois (bad), while at the same time seeing so many “omg marcille thinks the only downside to marrying Fallin is Laois” (funny), crazy how its bad when Toshiro does it, huh? (Even crazier is the fact it’s only half true for both of them xd, they like Laois he is their friend)
So, once more he dislikes that Laois doesn’t give him space but likes Fallin because she does, especially because they aren’t very close at all. Toshiro has a hard time getting close to others and it’s stated that he tends to put barriers around himself with people who are “close” to him like maizaru and Hien. But since Fallin is an acquaintance at best it’s easy to like her from afar and the traits she seems to show outwardly.
Which leads me to the next point: Toshiro mani pixie dream girlifies Fallin. It is true that Toshiro has idealized her and doesn’t know her too well because they don’t talk but... is that a crime? There are many characters who hold biased opinions on others (like kabru with Laois or senshi with marcille or marcille with the orcs, etc.) and that doesn’t really get critiqued either. I don’t think it’s the sign of a horrid man for him to like Fallin without knowing her to well xd, it’s pretty normal for a crush and also if you consider his nature. Besides, this is once more influenced by his background: in one scene chilchuck mentions how the proposal thing is common in the east + he is an heir xd, so it’s only logical to be thinking about marriage, specially since his dad has high expectations for him (something that I know has not yet been shown in the anime, but it is present on extra manga content). It’s important to note also, that he doesn’t claim that he knows her best, puts words on her mouth or push his feelings towards her either. He proposes, she says that she will think about it and as far as the anime is concerned, he waits patiently for her answer. He doesn’t say “curse you woman you are coming with me!” or anything like that, and even if he expresses that he wants to leave with her to the east, that is ONLY if she says yes and agrees to that, so its illogical to say any of these things without proof.
Now onto the 2nd main point of this section: He abandoned Fallin and hates black magic. 1st of all, he didn’t abandon Fallin, he left to gather his retainers to search for her in a way he thought more efficient and once we see him again, he HASN’T EATEN OR SLEPT IN 3 DAYS OUT OF DEDICATION ALONE!! (If you use the argument that he abandoned Laois, that can also be explained by this). Now, him hating dark magic and claiming to turn in Marcille to the elves. This is not the best, since it poses conflict for our protagonists but 1. He doesn’t even end up doing that and helps them out after all is explained and 2. Put yourself in his shoes, what would you do if your crush turned into a monster that killed all your party? “Toshiro didn’t love Fallin enough to accept her as a monster unlike Marcille” Are you guys listening to yourselves? What he sees is a Fallin that has been desecrated and turned into a monster, something that will harm her and others + he’s not a magic specialist so how would he know or believe that they could turn her back to normal? He condemns Marcille but not out of lack of love, but I would say because of it, as far as he knows this could only turn worse for her anyways. Also, Kabru points out his illogical line of thought, claiming that it would be better for Fallin to die then, and Toshiro realizes how stupid he sounded a moment ago xd; Kabru points out how he also would have done anything to save her, and he backs down in agreement.
Once more, maybe annoying but not bad guy material. What’s more, this one is a really pressing matter as I have seen SO many Farcille fan artists and editors using him as an easy villain that hates Marcille (he is canonically scared of her) or as a cuck that doesn’t get Fallin. Somone pointed out once how he gets treated like a female character that gets in the way of an mlm ship and I agree. But while sometimes funny, it gets absurd at times and tends to border on making him someone he is not. I’ve even seen people say he’s homophobic (XD) or make him the token straight guy (something that in most fandoms means being an annoying incel character). In addition, many people say that Fallin would hate him for being “mean” to Laois but 1. She is very kind and would probably understand him. 2. If she realizes Laois has forgiven him, I don’t think she would meddle in to fix her brother’s problems because he wouldn’t want that and that’s just not her personality.
2.5 Small section.
Before we move into the last section, I’d like to add a small section called: you guys don’t understand Toshiro’s personality. Let’s be clear Toshiro is a shy, quiet, reserved, sentimental, rigid and half-hearted guy. It’s not common for him to start things, he tends to leave problem solving to authorities, he isn’t too confident in himself, and he is also an outcast in his homeland. Yet so many people describe him as being arrogant of self-absorbed and I really don’t know where that is coming from. Like, I’ve seen a bunch of people say, “oh how can he think he’s good enough for Fallin?” or variations of the sort but... I don’t think he thinks that he just decides to shoot his shot anyways. I’ve also seen some people describe him as some “pretentious rich asshole”, but this is also never showed or implied in text. Toshiro does not flaunt his wealth; he doesn’t act like he is better than ANYONE in the party, he just has money by being an heir (something not fun for him) and that’s it, but he doesn’t even use his status to get anything from anyone either., so… where is this coming from? (Racism? a need for a bad guy? who knows?) Plus, many people seem to dislike him because he is an aristocrat but… the system is not the same as being like a prince, his family just has influence in the east. Besides, characters like Laois or Mithun were also well off and from influential families and don’t get that type of flack. There’re also characters like Laois and Kabru, who express the desire to join this “aristocratic/monarchy” system by becoming king and lord of the dungeon. Who, then again, don’t get that flack.
3. Toshiro was racist towards itsutzumi.
With that out of the way, we have reached the final point: Toshiro owns people (making him racist ig). Ok so let’s preface by saying 2 things: 1. Dungeon meshi is not a racist story, but a story with racism and many complicated race relations that get treated respectfully for the most part. With this is included, the complex treatment of beast skins and other races seen as less human like kobolds or ogres like Tade. 2. The retainers are not slaves; they are servants for Toshiro’s family.
Ok, so it is true that Toshiro’s father bought itsutzumi from people who were abusing her (and Tade as well but people don’t bring her up when talking about this xd) and later put her to work as a retainer, so therefore he owns her right? Yeah, but not as a slave. Slaves do forced labor and are kept in inhumane conditions, which she is not, as she is given a home, education and the most labor she does is chores (which she usually avoids anyways) and probably some fighting of the sort. In fact, you could even say that she was enslaved prior to being bought by Toshiro’s father (not that this is an excuse for buying her necessarily, but once more this relates to complicated race things). It is also important to acknowledge that as a beast skin itsutzumi (a non-human) is seen as less valuable and gets treated unfairly by maizuru. And while it can border on othering behavior, like being tied up for misbehaving, this is once more pushed by maizuru and not any of the other retainers or Toshiro himself. With this argument usually comes the mention of the cursed collar that was kept on her, which is definitely a bad thing, but once more it is made by maizuru without Toshiro having ANY knowledge about it. I don’t judge any anime only for not knowing this, but in one extra it is revealed that Maizuru actually used the collar on Toshiro himself as a child, so that he would not leave too far from her side, so she explains that she made a similar one for itsutzumi; in this extra he looks surprised and remembers the traumatizing experience so... yeah, he didn’t know.
Additionally, many people compare the argument that he doesn’t own them, but his father does with the sixpence drama from a long time ago. Saying that this doesn’t excuse the behavior and that he should have done something, but that can also be explained. 1. Toshiro actually doesn’t meaningfully associate with any of the retainers prior to leaving to the island, (as explained by the adventurer’s bible and other extras) except for Hien as they are childhood friends and Maizuru. Besides that, he holds no relation to any of them, so he could not have known about itsutzumi’s situation, and it’s even shown that he doesn’t know how he should treat her at all. Despite that Toshiro does show consciousness towards their situation, saying that he would like to talk to Tade about being so adoring of him and his father, but he isn’t sure how to approach the issue. With that, we could assume the same could be said about his feelings towards itsutzumi. 2. “He left her to die”, technically no. They know she’s a capable fighter, so they probably didn’t see any problems with leaving her and also, itsutzumi scapes his party. Meaning that they know she doesn’t like them so why would they go back and search for her? If anything, Toshiro might have thought of it as an easy way to give her freedom, once more, why would you force someone back when you know they don’t want to be there?
“Why didn’t he let her go sooner?” This is explained by the first bit that he didn’t really know her and by asecond thing: contrary to popular belief, Toshiro doesn’t have such a big control of the retainers as it may seem, and it is ultimately maizurus or his father’s choice as to what to do with them. Like he didn’t want them to come with him to the island, but they don’t heed to that and come anyways. So, what makes anyone think that he could just change his fathers wishes? So yeah, he doesn’t own people they work for his family and that’s it.
So, this is the end of the post, if you read all of this, I greatly thank you and I hope I could make at least one of you change your mind. If not, oh well. Once more is valid to dislike characters, you can keep doing that but stop seriously stop with the angst bait or misinformation spread. That is all I want to say, so thank you again and see you later.

That's why I say, Yuki Tabata (Creator of Black Clover) is a better mangaka than Horikoshi, in terms of writing. Why? Well, I'll do my best not to give spoilers, if you've never read BC, I know that critics always say that the manga's story is simple, but I think that simple stories can be better than complex plots, especially if you want to read something funny. But Tabata managed to create better relationships than Kohei, an example is the rivalry between Asta and Yuno, both have different levels, Yuno is considered a prodigy, but instead of invalidating Asta, he is one of the characters that encourages Asta to chase and Asta always shows dedication, even if he doesn't have mana (magic). Also another thing, Asta's work is recognized, especially those who have wanted to humiliate him, another best thing, Asta is treated well by Tabata, he makes Asta lose at certain points, but he makes Asta evolve and his evolution is recognized. Have you read Black Clover? You could read to ignore My Hero Academia a little. The female characters also have personality and really focus in the story, for example Noelle, she starts out as a typical tsundere, but she ends up becoming a warrior over the course of the manga.
I have never read or watched black clover and I don't think I plan to but this is definitely convincing me to do it.
Anyways just because a manga has a simple plot like it doesn't mean that it's bad. In my opinion a story can be the most basic thing ever but it depends on how the writer executes the story and how they may differentiate it from the rest.
Personally I doubt that horikoshi has a true understanding of what a rivalry really is because there is no way I can actually label bakugo and izukus relationship to be a rivalry.
Aah from what you're telling me the plot of black clover sounds promising so I think I will give it a try when MHA ends

it's anon from earlier! jjk has a shitty system written into the story and it affects the characters a lot (just like in real life!) and it's so worth noticing but, unfortunately, most viewers tend to look over it. I do agree that the exploitation is the core of their relationship. both recognize it yet react differently towards it which eventually leads to their separation.
I just can't stop thinking about your satosugu. I'm sorry for being redundant but I really mean it when I say I love how you wrote them, especially gojo—the bits of his childhood that helped shape his present self; the self-destructive, depressing things he does to himself bc of the burden of being gojo; the complexity of his relationship with geto and how he doesn't receive his comeback very well; the desire to just let himself fall and be taken care of; etc. god, I love it.
and there's also a LOT of lines that hit so hard, the narration and dialogue, you write it so well!
sincerely thank you for this fic, the even more tragic and complex portrayal of gojo and jujutsu kaisen as a whole is so important methinks<3
I have no idea what the ending will be, I'm pretty excited to find out :)
Thank you again 😊😊
I'll put a spoiler warning ⚠️ here in case someone hasn't caught up with the manga.
Yeah, the premise of this fic to me was like, "Wow, Gojo never falters he's actually so level-headed." And then I thought : but does he have a choice ? He's literally THE adult in the story. And since we read the manga from the kid's POV, it seems normal, but if you really think about it, most of these kids don't even have parents. He's the only person on their side. If he breaks, the kids are immediately all at risk.
I'm also fascinated, personally, with how he keeps pretending that he can beat Sukuna, even if he knows he most likely can't. Because what's the point of worrying those kids, who already have such shitty lives ? Same as right after he kills Geto and just keeps going.
So the idea of Suguru returning, someone who is also THE adult, in the sense that he shoulders everything and see things as they are, how could Gojo not collapse ? He finally can, Suguru encourages it because his whole relationship to Satoru is enabling him to get what he needs. It makes for such an interesting dynamic, also because Suguru realizes that although he thought he was being selfless shouldering Satoru's hatred, Gojo is so fucking lonely without him.
I think in any fic I could write about them, I wouldn't change that : if Suguru returned, Gojo would collapse a little, and that's a good thing for him, because the alternative is that he dies 🥺🥺

honeyyyy did you see the leaks??
spoiler warning and crackpot theory/// why do i think that sukuna is this awakened sorcerer that has merged with tengen but because he's not a star plasma vessel yuji will have to merge with him because he's sukunas vessel to save humanity and they'll both "die" ?? 😭 they can communicate inside tengen if they both get absorbed but. still. i hope its not just sukunas body without sukunas personality...
what are your thoughts??? im going crazy
hi jenjen!!
ahhh i woke up this morning and the first think i did was check for the leaks but sadly i can't find them online (i don't think i'm looking in the right places ;-;)
i did find a few summaries of the actual leaks so i read through them. from my understanding, sukuna's remains were absorbed by tengen bridge, right?
unfortunately i am terrible at understanding and remembering the technical stuff in this manga, but from what i do recall star plasma vessels merge with tengen to keep him from aging i think. however after riko's death, tengen has become more like a cursed spirit and can merge with those who are not star plasma vessels.
If sukuna really was absorbed, there's a chance he doesn't need to be a star plasma vessel to do it, but it would turn him into something different. this could potentially be another threat and it would make since if yuuji was the only one who could stop it from happening. with just one chapter to go though, i'm not sure gege will focus on whatever this new development is. i'm still hoping there's some explanation because that part confused me, too.
if sukuna and yuuji do merge together and die with their souls so close to each other, i'm going to scream go back to my original theory that their fate is a lot like that of ryo and akira's in devilman, where they both keep dying together as part of satan's punishment. maybe sukuna will have a final realization about all that he could have had, that he should have just accepted yuuji's offer to live together, that maybe he finally understands the real meaning of love when it's dying right alongside him. however i don't think gege is invested at all in punishing his characters, and he seems to love sukuna a lot so it's probably not very likely sukuna will have an ending like that, even though it would be beautiful and fitting for the both of them.
to me, sukuna and yuuji have been chained together, both their souls and bodies, since the beginning. bc the manga started with yuuji's fate being to die alongside sukuna, that's the kind of ending i expected we might have. but with the sudden change of heart yuuji's had (read: yuuji realizing he has a massive crush on sukuna) i had hope for an ending where they both live on, sukuna back inside of yuuji, right where he belongs.
either way, i just can't see them living on or dying without each other. even if sukuna's soul comes back in reincarnation, it's still bound to yuuji's. i'll accept nothing less.
i'll be honest with you... if it's just sukuna's body without his actual soul or personality inside or if anyone other than yuuji confronts sukuna, i'm going to go crazy.
#im sorry if i got anything wrong!#i'm a big fan of sukuna and yuuji either dying together or living with each other#honestly i don't see a fate with them being separated it just doesn't make sense to me#and im sorry - i wish i could write more but it's going to be another long day for me#but tysm for sharing your ideas with me!! i really love that theory and i'm hoping there's more gege has planned for both sukuna and yuuji#jujutsu kaisen#sukuita#asks

okay i probably would've asked more abt your bsb thoughts sooner except i got shy. but i'm going insane rn so i gotta ask.... your thoughts on zeo. bc when i watched v-force nearly 2 years ago the robot twist took me out for like an entire day and now i'm still insane about them. like it's ridiculous but also really fucked up when you think abt it. and if/when you get to the manga. well i haven't read most of it EXCEPT for volumes 7-9 and vol 9..... ough. manga zeo my also beloved. i think abt this kid and their fucked up ass dad so much
omg im gonna lose my mind i just spent so much time typing the anwser to this and tumblr just DELETED IT ARE YOU KIDDING ME😭 sigh okay ill do it again ig...
i read the manga+rising but the manga version of zeo didnt really stand out to me so im gonna talk about the anime version of him only.
The season hes in, v force, is notoriously fucking boring (i knew this before watching v force even though i stayed out of any info abt bsb to avoid spoilers AND i still knew, imagine that) its like an entire season of filler but the character who stands out the most is Zeo obviously. ozuma/ozma is there too but eh. standing out in v force isnt saying much considering its not really intresting but that doesnt mean i hate him. hes .. neat but i dont think about him a lot.
in the anime when they first started hinting at something being off with zeo (and learning who his father is) my IMMIDIATE guess was oh this guys some kind of lab experiment, ailen or a robot and i was right lol. i mean considering his fathers job it isnt hard to predict but it is a kids show🤷
what i thought the most in the finale fight was okay, so he wants to be human, my boy yearns for the flesh, but like.. why? i know he has zagarts dead sons memories inside of him but if hes human enough to live and not notice he was a robot whats so bad about being a machine??? (robot propoganda lmfao) . he talks like a human feels like a human walks like a human feels like a human.. the gang™️ points this out too. i think there shouldve been more physical indicators to this guy straight up being a machine.. so many cool shit u can do with a ROBOT BLADER HELLOOOO ... ??? like do u have any problem in ur system or did u just not notice?? also how long has he been a robot? i feel like i needed more explanation on the dead son thing. yall couldnt take all those pointless boring episodes of those npc dudes trying to steal the sacred beasts and give it to zeo's backstory? what happened to this child? how long has he been a robot? when how which who which colour how many??2?2? was the original child also mint haired lmao? -also his hair colour is rll nice ^^
but yeah i think hes neat and probably the best character in his season.. i think his design is decent too, atleast the one w the white-ish outfit
oh and also this shit was raw as FUCK

ur one of the only ppl i follow that i know likes tokyo ghoul, and i just started reading it for the first time! (friends tried 2 get me into it when i was younger via the anime but i did Not Wanna so this is actually my first real read of it) i just started tg:re, so i have been Dying to talk abt it with somebody.. if u dont mind, who are ur faves? :3
omg im glad you did not watch the anime actually. the manga is infinitely better 🙏 okay this is not the place for me to rant against the anime let me move on before i get carried away
my number one fav and ofc the namesake of my url is urie <3 idk how far into :re you've gotten but i think he's like. the first to get introduced if im remembering correctly? but you might not get the vision Yet depending on how far you've read, but i just love an angry lil guy w daddy issues who cant express his emotions properly <3 no personal reasons for that at all.............his growth ends up being really nice too you'll see you'll see
another brand of character i like is the guy who can't stand coming in second in anything but always does, and has a one sided beef with the person who beats them every single time, so i also love takizawa. i don't wanna say too much abt him bc i don't wanna spoil the fun for you but he ends up having a really cool arc too
im realizing as i type this out most of my favs are either from :re alone, or get the majority of their development in :re im really trying to hold my tongue so bad rn,,,,,,,
idk if you've met saiko yet? she spends the entire first volume of :re asleep lmaoooo but she's great. i love how she's a character that stands for kindness in a world full of hate and different groups trying to kill each other all the time
recently i've come to appreciate eto more as well, i dont think i liked her much at first, but one of my tg mutuals is a big eto fan and i think that's helped me appreciate her more. also bc said mutual rbs all the posts i rb thinking "oh this post is so me" and adds the eto tag......okay maybe i am like her. also again with the daddy issues characters good lord pls pay that no mind,,,,,,,
cutting myself off after this one but i love both of the kirishima siblings :3 touka is so cool, and i love how her rough exterior hides how gentle and emotional she really is. i love characters like that. and ayato, he's so snarky and fun, but again, his roughness hides how much he cares. i don't think this qualifies as a spoiler (i mean it gets confirmed in :re, but i feel like it was implied in the first half of the series), but after touka kills those doves in retaliation for killing hinami's mom, ayato starts killing doves too, because he also has a rabbit mask, to detract attention from his sister.....so it ties that first incident to him rather than her :')
UGHIDGF i love tokyo ghoul so much, but i barely talk abt it anymore sorry to my tg mutuals :') pls come ask abt it anytime im happy to discuss !! glad you're liking it so far tho ! do u have any favs yet? i'd love to hear more of your thoughts :3

Its ok!! take as long as you want to read the manga, I really didn't want to spoil any of the content for you so I asked first.
Well if I can request for something (without spoilers I swear)
How would Vash treat someone who appears tough and stoic on the outside but inside is actually a crybaby who usually cries for his safety and worries too much for him? I'm a person without much strong feelings but he makes me cry every time he does something stupid or just bc I love him. Feel free to delete if it makes you uncomfortable, though!
Concept based loosely on the post of Vash "if a man was a rubber chicken" this one kind of veered off the original idea I had, ending up being a bunch of little drabbles in one sort of coherent story. Please enjoy!
I also wanted to post this as a declaration that I've finished the manga! (And let me tell you I am screaming, crying, and throwing up in love and excitement.) You had an ask pertaining to the manga, and I wanted to be able to notify you that I can take requests from the manga with integrity now! Two birds and all that~
Reading between the lines
Your grandmother had always told stories about items that her grandmother had when she lived on Earth. The one that always stuck in your mind was called "A Rubber Chicken." A flailing piece of rubber that made a loud screaming noise, apparently not sounding at all like a real chicken.
It was always something so bizarre about the planet your family, your species, came from. They hadn't found it necessary to make such an item on Gunsmoke, so you were left wondering what an item would be like.
That was, until you met Vash the Stampede. You were walking home from a day shift at work when you heard gunshots a few blocks down. Crouching by a barrel, a loud thumping was heard in the hardened sand of an alley. A gunshot almost made your ears ring, but it was drowned out by the noise of a screaming, spiraling, red coat that flew past you.
The man inside it almost seemed to slow down in mid air as you took in his features of spiked blond hair, and amazing blue eyes. His mouth hung open as the sound from his mouth seemed to be slowed. He flailed around the corner, only to be caught by one of the Sheriff's boys, and he scrambled off in the opposite direction. Once they all passed yelling something about their six billion double dollars, the street became quiet.
"…What just happened?" You couldn't tell if you had said those words out loud or not.
You stood once again, and made your way home. Flicking on the lights of your living room, you found the red coated man sitting on your couch.
"Thanks for leaving your key in an easy place!" He smiled, "say, you're that pretty lady from the alleyway! Sorry for scaring ya! You'll let me crash here until tonight, right?" He was giving you puppy dog eyes that made your heart swell. Did you really have a choice? This was Vash the Stampede. It almost seemed as if there'd be less of a chance that the town would crumble to dust if you just let him be.
"Sure, do whatever, I'm gonna be making dinner soon." You shrugged.
It was that next morning you were run out of town for your one time association with Vash. Luckily he hadn't made it far when he scooped You up on the Tomas he'd gotten, and began dragging you along on his journey.
You had obviously hated the fact that people were so unwilling to help Vash, that anyone who even associated with him was a target. But if there was anyone you'd be okay with being on the run with, you were happy it was Vash. Not that you needed to tell him that.
🙏
Despite your inability to show your true feelings, a problem you'd had since your neglectful childhood, Vash seemed to be a master at sussing out your real feelings. He was always able to react based on what you wanted your words to mean, instead of how they sounded to everyone else.
Stopping in a town, the two of you stopped at a restaurant.
"Hey, I'm short on cash until tomorrow, can you buy us dinner tonight, and I'll buy your drinks tomorrow night?" He pressed his hands together begging; his eyes sparkling as he peeked over little orange glasses. You couldn't deny the grumbling in your stomach, and you didn't want him to go hungry either.
"Go ahead and order whatever, don't you think for a minute that I'll forget those drinks you're offering in return." You grimaced and scratched the back of your neck, trying to hide you reaction to his cute face.
"Thanks! Well drink and have fun tomorrow night! The bar in this town has the best prices, and quality booze!" He laughed as the waitress returned to take your order.
🍗
During your travels, you got to know the red coated man in ways you didn't think most people ever did. He wasn't some scary blood thirsty typhoon that everyone presumed he was. You remember trying to swat down one of the buzzard-flies, only to have Vash grab your arm at an inhuman speed.
"Please don't kill it. It's just hungry, like we are." He slowly released your hand and broke off a piece of the cooked meat he had made. The fly buzzed off, content with its meal. The astonished gaze of his inhuman abilities stayed on your face, but your heart swelled at his kindness towards everything, and the fact he shared such a limited supply of food with such a small, seemingly insignificant creature.
👕
On a night you two had to share a room at an Inn, he finally showed you his scars. Your face couldn't emote the sheer curiosity, worry, and pity that stopped your heart, and strangled your throat.
"I don't like to show them. It's the kind of thing I don't like pretty women like you to see." He blushed as he dug into his bag to retrieve a shirt from his bag.
"Well. I don't think you'd be you without those lessons learned, and that would suck." You said harshly as you looked away to give him privacy, but the blush on your face told Vash all he needed to understand. You didn't see the reciprocal blush on his own face. As he slid the shirt onto his torso.
🍻
"Please, listen to me." Vash said, making you hunker down on The basement of a friend's house, "I need you to stay here. This is too dangerous this time. I'll come back for you, I promise." He explained as hastily as he could, curling a lock of hair behind your ear with the exposed finger of his right hand.
"Vash, let me help, I helped last time." You insisted.
"No. Not with my brother around. I… I can't let him get to you." His eyes conveyed such worry that you swore you could see tears pricking his eyes.
"Make sure you come back to me. You still owe me that drink." Your voice shook for the first time since you were a kid as you felt a tear slide down your face. Vash's face raised in astonishment as he'd never seen you cry before. His face softened to a smile, eyes twinkling with something you could only describe as… love.
"We'll have that drink when I come back." He pressed a kiss to your forehead, "I love you." He whispered as he brushed another stray tear from your face and he slipped up the stairs of the basement and out of the house, leaving you alone.
🤞
You laid in the bed of the Inn, tangled up with Vash, your head on his chest. There wasn't a tense muscle In your body.
"Comfortable, Mayfly?" He asked, his hand rubbing small patterns into your back.
"My arm is asleep." You complained, but nodded as you ignored it and cuddled into him.

I've recently read through all of fabiniku (my life as an ordinary guy who reincarnated as a girl or something like that for the english title) and it's just been such a fun and genuine time that made me so much more endeared to the series than I thought I was going to be going into this. And for me it touches on a very important part of representation and the argument that queer people will inherently tell queer stories better (spoiler alert i think this mentality is simplistic and unrealistic). Because full disclosure, yeah the author of fabiniku is not someone i assume is the best ally on the planet, and i dont even know if she's queer or not. Her author notes have some pretty :/// stuff in them about trans identity and the idea that being trans is a fetish or childish choice. However, there could also be translational errors messing up what exactly she means, and I can't exactly translate myself, so there is some doubt in that regard. But regardless of the author's opinions, none of that changes the very genuine and heartfelt story she is telling with Tachibana in fabiniku.
(putting the rest under a readmore bc its getting longer than i thought)
There's a reason fabiniku got its reputation as one of the queerest isekai's to ever isekai and that reputation is well deserved bc holy shit yeah these bitches gay and trans as hell. Fabiniku does something with its queer narrative that I personally really appreciate: it sidelines the queer themes. Now this may seem contradictory, but for me, I don't always want queer stories about being queer, I want the queer elements to be a part of the narrative without it being focused on them. And fabiniku absolutely delivers on this. It isn't the story of tachibana finding out he's trans and jinguuji finding out he's gay but also kinda technically bi now- it's a batshit insane isekai romcom about 2 best friends realizing they have feelings for each other. Of course, those queer elements are still very much there, but they're entrenched in the characters, not in the author saying "see this aspect of identity, i want to use these characters as a vehicle to tell a story about it." (Not that there's anything wrong with that, its just a difference in writing goals and how one goes about writing themes/stories)
Fabiniku was never trying to be anything profound or meaningful in terms of queer representation, its mostly a gag manga with some large overarching story beats, but the author's earnestness in portraying the romance and personal growth gives the series a real heart that 1)makes it enjoyable unlike some other comedy based isekai and 2) stops it from being offensive representation. Tachibana is a guy who finds himself becoming a girl one day without and warning, and his slow journey into realizing what exactly he wants in regards to his gender identity is never used as the butt of the joke or mocked. (I'm using he/him for tachibana bc literally as of a couple chapters ago we just got him admitting he may not want to go back to being a guy, he's still on the first steps of his trans journey). In the same vein Jinguuji's love of Tachibana is never truly treated as "only now bc tachibana is a girl, no way did jinguuji love him before nope nope." (yes the initial premise suggests this interpretation, but as the manga grows on it is increasingly clear that both these 2 loved each other before this isekai shenanigans began).
There's a lot more words in my head, but Im gonna wrap it up here. Fabiniku is hardly "perfect" representation, but it is telling a meaningful story with a lot of love put into it regardless. Blaming its mistakes on the author not being trans or gay while ignoring its strengths is useless nitpicking. I saw a post saying it would be a much funnier manga if a trans person wrote it, which is such an illogical point to make that I just had to go ????? at my screen for a minute. There's a lot to talk about with this story, and that's what you took away from it?? And im not saying there aren't criticisms to be made, I still think Jinguuji's arc should have been about him realizing that even if he didn't like women, it didn't change the fact that he was attracted to Tachibana- would have made for a more in character arc for him but again, the author was never intending for anything more than a romantic comedy manga, so I won't hold it against her too much.
Anyways everyone go watch or read fabiniku you won't regret it its so fucking good
#fabiniku#Life with an Ordinary Guy who Reincarnated into a Total Fantasy Knockout#hinata tachibana#tsukasa jinguuji#i am totally normal about the media i consume i promise#you want to read my rambling about the queer aspects of this show so bad right right#genuinely i think the rep in this is so fucking good#judt because it isnt perfect doesnt mean it doesnt have value#it is also 3am when i write this so things arent exactly coherent

to assist any fellow dumb people who were PRETTY SURE that the phrase "Sousou no Frieren" was a pun or wordplay or something but you weren't really sure
(arguable spoilers for up to about episode 9 or so)
When the demon guy called her "Frieren the Slayer" and the cool title card dropped that said "FRIEREN THE SLAYER", you probably caught on to the fact that he literally calls her "Sousou no Frieren" (which is what the title card says in Japanese, which is way cooler bc it's a hokey title card drop like 2+ hours into the series and that's hilarious). I read the manga before I started watching the show, so I didn't get the audio cue the first time around.
The official translation of the title is "Beyond Journey's End" which is perfectly fine. This isn't a discussion about "how to translate something and retain all the original meaning" because that's obviously impossible. You probably also have seen that lots of places call it "Frieren at the Funeral" which is probably more literal to the most common usage of "Sousou" (a two kanji word with the respective meanings of "interment" and "to escort/send), which is (more or less) used to mean "see someone off" in a sad funerary sense. It doesn't mean "funeral" literally, since it usually implies the literal act of attendence, it's kind of like the word "exequial" in English in that sense -- it doesn't mean "funeral", it just kind of... implies "funeral" and all of its (usually) sad connotations.
So, we have a few different translations from "Sousou no Frieren", depending on context : "Frieren the Slayer", "Frieren at the Funeral", and I guess if you wanted to really try to wrap those up into one you could say something pretentious like "The Exequial Frieren". There's a cool parallel here with English, where we have two really goofy devices that would very literally fit here -- "funeral-bringer" and "funeral-goer" -- which Japanese has very neatly mashed into one very cool "Sousou".
So yeah. She "sees off" her old adventuring companions at the end of their life, and she also "sees off" the demons that she kills. Frieren the Slayer and Frieren the Funeral Goer as literally "Frieren: the one who sees us off at the end of our lives". Neat!
(source: like 3 Reddit threads and 4 or 5 japanese to English dictionaries. I don't speak a word of this stuff. I just got to that title drop where the guy says "Frieren the Slayer", turned swiftly to my wife and went "wait is that a fucking pun" and wanted to save others from the humiliation of having to go on reddit to figure it out)

Sooo i just finished reading the kamokedai match and i need to express the thousand emotions going through my head rn (rant)
WARNING: VERY HEAVY SPOILERS and a BUNCH OF YELLING AND RANTING
if you dont wanna get yelled at i suggest you ignore this post :)
yes yes I know im VERY late to the party and that this manga ended years ago but i just finished reading this so lemme just get it outta my system and ill be on my way
First of all WHAT THE HECC FURUDATE WHY U GOTTA DO US LIKE THAT
they rlly made it so that hinata got sick at the worst possible time huh
like i get it, its to build even more tension but they didnt have to do that i mean cmon my heart was beating stupidly fast while reading that. Takeda even made a whole like five page speech to hinata which is what made us readers all go "oh ye we're losing this match arent we"
And they even made tsukki have to go on the bench cause of his leg becuase why not rub more salt into the wound amiright?
Anyways after the out of pocket plot twist where hinata goes to the hospital it not much of a suprise that kamokedai won but it still hurt ToT.
Yes, i actually thought they had a chance of winning ok? i get that kamokedai is much better than karasuno but still. they couldve won ;(
and then out of nowhere ITACHIYAMA LOST??!!! like what the actual flic flac??!! bro is hitting us with 50 different plot twists at once. First hinata get a fever, then tsukki also goes outta action, then they lose the match, then itachiyama also loses the match WHYYYYYY
i was not mentally prepared for this and was so looking forward to seeing sakusa and the libero whos name i forgot play against fukurodani in the finals but NOPE I GUESS WE AINT GETTING THAT TODAY
Now onto the MAIN REASON I AM TYPING THIS (yes im just warming up here folks)
I am a HUGE fukurodani fan they will always be my #1 favourite team
i thought we were gonna see the semi final and finals matches after karasuno lost but NOPE they just skipped those and was like TIMESKIP TIME WHO CARES ABOUT FUKURODANI :D
(i havent read the timeskip yet since, apart from bokuto, none of my faves are playing volleyball)
so naturally, i turned towards google to see if they do win the nationals
I WAS SO CERTAIN FUKURODANI WERE GONNA WIN THE NATIONALS YOU HAVE NO IDEA I PUT MY HEART ON THE LINE AND WAS 100% SURE THAT THEY WERE GONNA WIN EM ALL YK WHY??
DO
YOU
WANT
TO
KNOW
WHY
BECAUSE FURUDATE MADE IT SOUND LIKE THEY WERE REALLY DESTINED TO WIN THE WHOLE DAM THING
SO WHEN THEY LOST TO SOME RANDOM NOBODY SCHOOL THAT WE'VE NEVER EVEN HEARD OF AND DOESNT HAVE ANY BACKGROUND AT ALL ACTUALLY KILLED ME SO BAD
they purposely got our hopes up and made us think that fukurodani were gonna be the ones to win (FUKURODANI WERE THE PROTAGONISTS OF THE WORLD, not karasuno!)
i fell for the trap, hook line and sinker 😭😭😭
WHYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYY
seriously i dont get why furudate couldnt have just made fukurodani win instead?? everyone would be happy about that, and its not like its unrealistic, they're an amazing team, as shown multiple times in the manga!!!
GRRRrrrrr i am angry and sad and mad and depressed and my heart hurts and i feel like screaming into my pillow again
but i feel bad for being so negative in this post so i will end it on a (sorta) positive note for those who actually read that far into this rant lol
THIS ENDING OF FUKURODANI ACTUALLY MADE ME DIE (out of happiness this time)
they arent that depressed about losing bc they know that 2nd in the WHOLE OF JAPAN is still an AMAZING FEAT and that if they werent on the same team, then they wouldnt have gotten that far
konoha says hes grateful and considers himself super lucky that they were all on the same team (and specifically that bokuto was on the team since he's one of the nation's top aces)
and wow thats so amazing i just cant
MY EMOTIONS AHHH
anyways sorry for yelling to you so much, i just had to get this outta my system
The manga was GREAT and i enjoyed reading it so much haikyuu is my favourite anime and im so so glad i stumbled upon it!!! i seriously cant wait for this to get animated
drink water and i wish you happy tumblr scrolling 👍👍👍
#rant#haikyuu#haikyu#haikyuu manga#fukurodani#fukurodani shouldve wont the nationals#again sorry for all the yelling

Do you mind if I ask your top 10 favorite characters (can be male or female) from all of the media that you loved (can be anime/manga, books, movies or tv series)? And why do you love them? Sorry if you've answered this question before.....Thanks...
No I don’t mind at all!! I’ve never been asked this question before and it’s really interesting so of course I’ll answer! <3
Btw this is anime only bc I only watch anime/read manga :)
1: Feitan
I love Feitan honestly bc he’s cool, hot, strong and just generally awesome. I love his personality and how fearless he is. He’s number one even though they’re were many before him because I’m crazy about him and he’s just generally my all time fav. He isn’t a “phase” I love him all the time think about him all the time..FOR YEARS.
2: Aizawa
I found out about him way before Feitan and was the original number one..BUT I don’t love him any less. He’s honestly just so cool and I thought he was as soon as I saw him. He has such a calm yet self assured and strong demeanor to him. I admire him in a sense, he has morals and sticks to them. He’s also once again, strong. He cares for his loved ones and manages to be cool and a green flag- not something all anime guys can do.
3: Izuku
Izuku is under Aizawa bc I literally started loving him directly after lol. I love him with all my heart. He’s just so determined and realistic/relatable in a sense. He strives for his goals and doesn’t give up. It’s admirable. He has such a kind heart and is a green flag. Tsu should honestly be up here bc she’s the first ever anime character I found out a about but I love izuku more- osusndkjnsjd-
4: Luffy
If I knew him for longer he would be higher. I got into one piece just recently but I still love him very much. He’s such a cool and silly guy he does no harm and is selfishly selfless. What an odd balance of getting what you want and bringing happiness. Essentially what he wants is for people (specifically his loved ones) to be happy and will stop at nothing to bring that to them. Truly only has good intent. Also who doesn’t like freedom and liberation?? This guy literally stands for that!! He stand for those who don’t have a voice and that’s so cool to me! I’m so proud of him in that sense. I also love his silly goofy vibe despite the worlds cruel ways. It’s refreshing and makes one piece a less depressing place since in a sense we’re pretty much seeing one piece from his prospective. If we saw things how zoro or law sees it, it may be a lot more realistic, a bit more drab and plain in sight. That’s my take on it anyway.
5: Katsuki
katsuki’s character development is top tier. (Spoiler) I’m not talking about him dying. I’m talking about how he went from telling Izuku to ky$ and mistreating him and others to viewing people as equals/something more than competition, apologizing and atoning for his mistakes. He did something even most grown men/women can’t do these days..smh. He even did it better than endeavor. 😂 I also like how strong he is and how much he believes in himself. It’s only a problem because of the way he expresses that but if he was simply confident I feel he’d have less haters.
6: Fyodor
honestly he just freakin cool dude! Like he’s a genius, he’s attractive and he’s got a cool/mysterious power. I like when anime characters are a different race in Japan, it just makes things more fun. I love him for his imperfections too. I saw someone talk about how (spoiler) Fyodor wouldn’t have died if he just trusted his friends/allies more. I like that about him too. It makes space for character development and realization if he lives.
7: Atsushi
I first started watch bsd a long time ago. I remember loving the first ep so much. I really like how atsushi met dazai- lol. It was all really unique and there was no overused troupes. New, fresh, stuff you wouldn’t expect. I mean unless it’s mc hating on themselves..but I didn’t dislike atsushi for it or anything. Idk why I just didn’t, I’ve loved him since he first appeared on screen. I’ve always thought he deserved better. He’s such a kind hearted character and his mental and physical strength developed well. He doesn’t have any love interests either! It makes me happy when it’s straight plot and no canon romance in anime. Honestly I just love how sincere and genuine Atsushi is.
8: Nikolai
At first I both liked and disliked him at the same time. But then again I kinda simped for him so I did research (fandom, and when he got animated) and now i love em. I really love silly characters with inner problems that they project onto different things (emotions; for Niko). It gives they’re character deeper meaning than just being a silly guy. Yeah that’s fun but it gives you more to think about this way. I think his design is very cute and fun! At first I did expect to have a higher pitched voice but as time went on I realized two things. One: his voice actually fit him and I only didn’t like it at first because it didn’t meet my imaginary standard. Two: he’s a grown man, and while it’s possible, especially with anime logic, it’s more realistic this way and I’m glad his voice isn’t high pitched now.
9: Portgas D Ace
now I absolutely love Ace and while I he’s my number 2 in one piece, over all anime’s he ranks a little lower but he’s def still up there. Again I’m still in the impel down arc so his backstory n stuff is coming up for me, so when I say he needs more screen time I mean besides that. He’s an attractive man who worked on himself from a young age to be polite and respectful, he’s very friendly as well. I love and respect all that about him. He’s another silly guy but in a different way. Idk I honestly just like him, idk how to explain it this time. He’s just cool!!
10: Saiki k
I didn’t know whether to put brook or tokito here. I would’ve gone with tokito because I’ve been watching kny longer but I feel I like him more? Saiki k is a really interesting anime. It’s a comedy anime in a regular and relatable setting but with a spin; superpowers. This gives the anime more chances for funny moments and comedy. With saiki’s attitude of wanting to be normal as well? Perfect! Saiki is honestly still relatable even with powers and is not a simp. Which I really like about him, He probably wouldn’t be on this list if he got with someone. In fact he avoids what could be love interests and that makes it even more funny. I’m glad he doesn’t give in and give us the traditional wife, babies and sunset ending. 🤦♀️
brook isn’t on the list but top 10 is NOT easy to choose..I also wanted to add tokito but again top ten is so limiting </3😔

Another rant abt gojo bc yeah except this time its of the moral greyness of his character
‼️slight spoiler warning‼️for ppl who haven’t read the manga
In my last post abt gojo i was talking about his parallels to jesus but ONLY in the aspect of having to suffer for others as a sort of ‘duty’ and their relations to divinity. While yes, gojo did care for his students, riko, suguru, and his friends/coworkers and wanted to protect them, protecting others wasn’t why he was a sorcerer- he even said it himself multiple times that protecting the weak was tiring and that you can only save those ready to be saved- like in the Shibuya arc where he doesn’t hesitate to kill all those mutilated humans whereas someone like Yuuji would’ve struggled to decide what to do in that situation. I always characterized him as some sort of ‘hero’ because of the way he took in yuta, yuuji, and megumi and cared for the rest of his students which isn’t exactly wrong but it’s not completely right. The reason he did all of it was so he could help the next generation become as strong as him or as close as possible so that 1. He wouldn’t be alone at the top 2. To transform the world of Jujutsu and 3. So that the kids’ youth isn’t taken away from them (obv trauma comes with the job but it’s more about preventing unnecessary tragedies like the higher ups sending weaker sorcerers to handle curses that they aren’t ready for). His morals are more self centered as he uses Jujutsu more for self gratification than protecting the weak. Idk if ppl would agree w me on this but it’s been confirmed in the manga panel where he’s speaking with suguru and nanami in the afterlife ->
while gojo’s goals/intentions weren’t inherently selfish they weren’t for a heroic cause, his morals were based on his own emotions and self interests unlike geto whose morals were based on the institutional belief that sorcerers should protect the weak because they’re the strong but unfortunately his morals were founded in his faith within jujutsu society hence the reason why his morals weakened in correspondence to his faith in the institution. Although that’s why I think gojo is a good example of one of the most apparent philosophies in jjk which is, ‘do what has to be done’. This doesn’t mean i dont love when ppl characterize him as sweet and silly and clingy tho!! I adore it and think it really is a part of who he is just buried under the trauma and pressure, i imagine he’d be a lot more like that in another world where jujutsu sorcery didn’t exist! he deserves sm better </3

Hikaru ga Shinda Natsu / The summer Hikaru died theory
So, i was talking with @michigasuki about this whole ordeal about the Christiany in a small Kansai village. We know Christianity is not a big thing overall in Japan, so why exactly are there Christians in such a place as we’ve seen that man wearing a crucifix at the summer festival
And then in chapter 14.2 we learn that there are in fact quite a few churches active in the area. And on top of that, they’re active because historically they were even more active.
@michigasuki said that the homophobic beliefs started to spread to japan accompanied by the christian religion (i’m not sure, but there aren’t really any homophobic beliefs in shinto, right?)
So, this starts the rant. First this character: Mokmok Len proved themselves very consistent with the details. The way he draws the eyes, and, the very little easily to miss detail of the tooth. That person is most likely the Indoh ancestor. But then, the hair is hidden. It looks like a woman (bcs of the headscarf), is it really a woman? If you zoom in can you really say if that is facial hair, or grim. Are those hatches scracthen or cheekbones? If they are cheekbones they look quite masculine.
And then, the head they’re holding. Just like the Indoh ancestor, their gender identity can’t be determined just because of the long hair. Men can have long hair. And in old Japan it was quite the normalcy for men to have a top knot (I’m not sure, but warriors - samurais - wore their hair long). And you see, there must be a reason why Mokmok chose to put so much accent on the hair. And who else is constantly scolded about hair? Yoshiki. There isn’t one character whose hair is ever discussed as Yoshiki’s.
And then, it was already mentioned Yoshiki’s mother is from Tokyo, thus Yoshiki’s ancestors in that vilage are from his father, the male side.
Now, do you understand where I’m going with these? To put it in short, my theory about what started the ‘Brain Snatcher’ aka ‘Hikaru’ aka that spirit, is that: the Indoh and Yoshiki’s ancestors were two males in love, just like Yoshiki and Hikaru (notice the lack of ‘’). But, because they were living in a time where Christianity was really strong in their region, it was not accepted for two men to be together. Maybe really shameful for a warrior (i’m not sure), thus ending up with the warrior’s beheading and the other one forced to live a “normal” life. Now, because of this sudden death, the warrior’s soul’s yearning because he didn’t get to live with his loved one (this doesn’t sound that right idk if they have souls this in shinto) gets materialised into the ‘Brain snatcher’.
From yearning, it turns into loneliness (‘Hikaru’ said those things are “lonely”).
Also, about my reason for that Indoh ancestor to be a male, please look at Hikaru’s dad. He also has a crooked tooth. And the placement of the cheekbones is almost the same as the ancostor’s hatching. (Damn the genes are strong in that family, if anything is right in this post, it’s that Hikaru’s ancestor did something that created the Brain Snatcher)
Now, why do i say it’s Yoshiki’s ancestor the other one? Mainly for a mirroring kind of writing style. Two boys that are in love as once their ancestors were (i’m sure you know what i talk about). And then, I tried to understand this through the information i learned by reading manga with Shinto elements, so obviously i must be spewing some nonsense here and there. Or maybe i’m wrong about this one bcs that would mean he isn’t Yoshiki’s direct ancestor as that would mean Yoshiki shouldn’t exist if it were the case (aka the warrior died without kids)
Something that i used to understand this is Hiraeth, so yeah if you didn’t read it (go read it) i’ll have some major spoilers from there below (only the part below, after that you can continue reading)
From Hiraeth i learned that kami aren’t goor or bad, they’re kami and do as they please. I also learned that a human can be “traded” to cross their humanly bareer (well there’s quite the mix, it’s like Kamisama Hajimemashita where nanami is a human but becomes a deity). And i also learned that kami can become bad spirits if they’re not cleansed. At the end of the story it is revealed that the imortal character and the genderqueer amnesia kami were in fact soulmates from ancient times. And despite the kami forgetting about it, as people forgot their name, the kami still lived with this lacking and yearning feeling that something was missing.
This is why, i think that the ‘brain snatcher’ still carries that loneliness with them. And thus it hunts every Indoh’s love interest out of jealousy that they got the chance to live with their love. But at the same time, the spirit loves the Inodh so he doesn’t hurt them (here it’s the paradox because Hikaru’s dad died, and then the brain snatcher took possession of Hikaru’s body, @michigasuki said that maybe it was jealousy bcs Hakiru looked at a feminine shaped tree, thus jealousy, idk there must be a reason for that tree, we proved that Mokmok pays attention to details so i doubt that any of the panels in this story are completely random)
And one more detail is the head amulet that was in Hikaru’s bag (we’ve seen that once he slipped, he lost the bag and thus the protection that amulet gave them)
(By kegels i’m sure it means yokais)
This is obviously just a theory based on the first 14 chapters available, i doubt we have all the information to understand the back story or guess the ending, no matter how much attention we pay to the smallest details on the page.
Also, have you seen the shoes post? Or the hair one? Definitely interesting details put there to point out at something that will be very obvious later in the story.
Tbh the more opinions, the better, this is a complex work so i doubt two people can crack the code that easily

my current obsessions (warning: very long)
okay so first of all, to all of my followers (if even have any wheezes) i am soooo sorry for not being active. just things have been going south and further south for me. buuuuuut i've also been like hyperfixated on newer animes and on one manhwa (sadly it's killing stalking).
ANYWAYS.... MY CURRENT OBSESSION RN IS FUCKING DEMON SLAYER. i started watching it back in like march or february and i've been simping and focused on this anime ever since. i fucking love it omfg. my favorite characters changes a lot depending on my mood, but i am big on TENGEN (mr. flashy), RENGOKU (donut), AKAZA (donut maker), DOUMA (he puts the G in lGbt), HAGANEZUKA, and lastly... i know yall saw that new episode of season 3 w/ hantengus's fucking clones. tbh i didnt even know he could do that BUT ALL FOUR (i know there's five of them but rn it's four) OF THEM CAN GET IT. IM SORRY.
LIKE DID YALL NOT SEE THE MELANIN IN THOSE MEN?!?! THE MELANIN, THE HAIR, THE ABS, OMG. it makes me soooo excited to see darker skinned ppl in anime shows bc you know they dont hardly get drawn. and even if they are depicted as villains/demons/antagonists representation is representation. A WIN IS A WIN.
so speaking of those four i am heavy, heavy, heavy falling for my boy karaku. i mean yeah sekido can put in that work, aizetsu whimpers like a bish, and urogi is hot and all, but KARAKU?!?! UNGGGGHH. i hear sum puRRRINGGGG~~~
im thinking of writing of maybe a smut, or something platonic and basic with those four in mind. maybe just headcanons though.
another anime im fixated on even though i aint even watched not one damn episode but i feel like i know what going on in it thanks to tiktok spoilers on my FYP is BLUE LOCK. let me explain.
so out of nowhere i get this edit of rin itoshi on my fyp of him w/ the song "trance" by metro boomin and i was like damn he cute af. lemme see what anime this is. and i found out it was blue lock. so i was like ehhh sports anime dont really attract my attention like that so imma pass-
BUT THEN. A MONTH LATER. I SEE THIS FINE ASS GYARUO-LOOKING ZESTY ABOMINATION OF A MAN NAMED SHIDOU RYUSEI ON MY FYP IN AN EDIT AND I WAS LIKE WHO IS HEEEE?!! like not only is his eye color my favorite color, but he has the MELANIN. and ugh he's voiced by gojo (who i simp for too btw) VA.
and then after doing some investigating i find out some important things about this mofo. 1. he almost tried to kill kunigami, 2. he almost tried to kill rin, 3. he has some sort of love, admiration for sae (rins big bro), 4. AW YEAH HERE COMES THE DOPAMINE~, 5. it's canon that this man is so devious he had to get tied up with a muzzle bc he was too much for the blue lock ppl to handle (honestly tying him up w/ a muzzle sounds racist my boi), 6. he is ZESTY.
i just might end up writing some imagines, headcanons, etc. with shidou bc god i love me a toxic man.
LASTLY TO WRAP THIS SHIT UP I AM FIXATED ON MHA. but im not joining the fandom, im just fixated on the following characters: dabi, and aizawa. i love me a man with daddy issues and a man who can be my daddy. i feel like at this point i dont even need to read the manga or watch the anime to know what is going on and who's who thanks to tiktok spoiling every thing for me.

OC Brainrots #3: Miri and Memories of the Eight of Us
Welcome back to OC Brain Rots, where I go off about an OC of mine and whatever it is that caused them to tickle my brain at the moment.
Have decided to have the brain rot posts here, with the intros and the first two entries staying on main. All rots will be on my OC masterlist if you want to read the previous entries!
For this brain rot, Miri's been on my mind as of late thanks to these asks from Oliver ( @olivermorningstar) and then I happened across the audio drama 'Memories of the Eight of Us' on my watch later playlist on youtube and now I'm really in my feels with Miri and the Obey Me boys, so that's the reason for this brainrot.
If you want, I highly recommend watching/listening the drama, especially if you wanna be put in the mood for some wholesome Demon Brothers shenanigans. I'll post the link below!
youtube
For the basic gist of it, the bros are visiting the MC in the human realm after the release of the Miss Em plushies and are considering some fun things to do with MC on their mini vacation in Kyoto. They all take turns imagining different scenarios with MC. I'm inserting Miri and her reactions/participation ideas for these scenarios. Spoilers for the drama down below~
Mammon, being Mammon, he wants to go to the horse races. He fantasizes about winning a whole bunch of money from racing bets, but the brothers shoot down the idea. For me, I just imagine Miri wants to see the horses because horses are cool! If she has the speak to animals charm (because she would want it, Solomon teach it to her, she's begging!) Mammon would try and see if she could use her magic to see who was gonna win the race (as if that's a deciding factor), but she gets caught up in the horses' camaraderie of letting the oldest horse win because he's gonna retire after this race and they all looked up to him and respected him and Miri is brought to tears because it's such a moving story and places her bets on the old horse and wins big. Then it was Mammon's turn to cry as he bet against her (bc he didn't believe her/thought the horses were joshing her/some other reason to bet against her) and she just wins so so much money because she knew how the race was rigged, lol.
With Asmo, he wanted to visit a famous movie studio and then everyone could have some fun cosplaying as samurai lords. A scenario plays of samurai Asmo stopping a robber (Mammon) from stealing MC's purse, then giving MC a token as a remembrance. I just had a cute picture of Miri in a pretty pink and purple kimono with lots of layers as she's playing the part of a noble lady/princess that Asmo rescues and it was cute to imagine.
Levi wants to go to the manga museum while Satan wants to take MC to various other art museums. She would try to placate the both of them because manga (comics in general, really) is art too, so she'll want to go with both of them to the museums! Maybe introduce Satan to some manga he might like or point out older art pieces that helped inspire this or that mangaka to Levi. She'd have a great time regardless!
Belphie initially wanted to rent out a house so they could nap on the porch in the gentle breeze, but everyone thought that was boring, so he settled on pottery classes instead, where they could make their own teacups and paint them, which was also shut down bc of Belphie's not so great art skills. I think Miri would love to paint some teacups with him, it'd be so cute, no matter their art skill levels! She'd treasure those teacups! Y'all are just mean!
Lucifer (with everyone's leeriness about his suggestion of a factory in the anime) suggests a famous well said to be an ancient portal to hell. He wants both to check it out for Diavolo's interest, but also thinking of it as a way so MC can visit them/they can visit MC without having a drain on their magic. All the brothers try their best to not let the well idea win, but he does bring up some good points. No one wants to lose to a hole in the ground, so they decide it was best to let MC choose their adventure. But, not gonna lie, Miri would have interest with the hole in the ground too, sorry guys!
Beel, throughout this entire conversation, is thinking out loud about food, talking about various kinds (meats, seafood, can't forget the veggies either). Everyone else takes it as Beel being Beel and writes it off, at least until MC comes back home.
He had mentioned wanting to be the first to greet MC when they came back, causing the usual ruckus of all the brothers wanting to be the first to greet them, but, surprise, surprise, Beel gets his wish as the first words out of his mouth (after all the other brothers crowd around MC with their ideas of a fun vacation idea unprompted) were 'welcome home.' Not only that, but his mentions of food weren't his usual fantasies, but he was planning out dinner for MC, even making special mention that he didn't take bites in between cooking because he wanted to be sure they had enough to eat first. Me and Miri both teared up at his thoughtfulness, especially if she had a hard day of sorcerer lessons and human life in general.
The other brothers soon fall in line in saying welcome back/welcome home to Miri, making her tear up a little more and smile so big, feeling so loved in this little moment with her family.
And now I'm caught up in my feels too, so I'm gonna stop this here. Thanks for joining me on this feels trip! See ya in the next brainrot episode!
#oc brainrot#miriam (oc)#obey me oc#if she was going with one of the brothers' ideas#she'd probably go with the pottery idea#less likely chance for mammon to steal expensive art pieces from either museums from Levi and Satan's suggestion#she's gonna trip with all the kimono layers so no on the samurai cosplaying sorry asmo#loss of money from horse racing with mammon#hole in the ground... hole in the ground...#there is the possibility that mammon would sell their teacups tho which would make her sad#so they'd all probably do what they did in the anime and go to a local hotspring instead#still need to watch that episode#I only know of its existence because of a screenshot I saw with OP making fun of Lucifer for sitting like an old man#lol#Youtube
