I just double checked AO3 (where I get my hypmic fanfic mostly) and I'm not sure what they mean by "it's mostly yamadacest." To he weird and pull out the bumbers: The top ships are Ichiro/Samatoki (1436), Hifudo (891), GenDice (884), RamuJaku (605), then a sharp dip to SamaSaru (342) and RoSara (298). Though we do have yamadas coming in at 246 fics. Out of a total of nearly 10k AO3 fics. For a franchise with roughly 21 main characters (including Chuhoku) with 4 of them related I think the numbers are pretty good. Like, blindfold me and click on a random fic and I'm probably gonna see Samatoki tbh.

(though I don't tend to engage with fic in other places so I don't know how it fares out there. I like the ability to filter tags too much lol)

oh shit hard facts?????? then it’s probably that there’s a lot of yamadacest at the forefront of the tag lol like the same few writers update their fics daily and/or there aren’t enough current fics being updated and posted to make it feel like there’s not a surplus
