I wanted to practice my antho drawing skills (also convincing myself to draw more fanart) with characters I don’t usually draw, so... (some of) Markiplier’s characters as anthros. I may do more of these characters, as this is (to my count) only a little over half (still counting the Cyndago characters) Species are labelled in the captions. Assorted comments below. These can also be found on my DeviantART page.
Darkiplier & Wilford Warfstache
1) I was cackling the entire time I drew this because the thought of Dark being just. So short in comparison to most of the others is hilarious to me. Like-- imagine he's trying to yell at Wilford or someone for getting a knife stuck in the wall or something, but he just. He has to like, crane his neck to try to meed their eyes--
2) Wilford is a wolfdog because I thought to myself, "What is the least stable canine?”, and from there, which of them can have a sort of pink-ish tint (though it ended up being more grey-purple)? Wolfdogs, horribly unstable and potentially a kind of lilac color, were a perfect fit.
3) Darkiplier is an oncilla because I figured he should be a feline of some kind, but not something super threatening from a physical standpoint (as he seems to be more inclined to manipulation than brute force), so a small feline it was - and oncillas are cool (and not something I often draw).
The King of the Squirrels
1) The King of the Squirrels is a red squirrel because... well, I think being a squirrel is pretty self-explanatory, but he’s a red squirrel, specifically, because they match his color scheme rather well (and they’re interesting animals).
2) I was initially going to draw the King of the Squirrels with the Jims, but I soon realized that, as I struggle with drawing both hooved animals (the Jims being deer) and squirrels, that would be a bad choice. Unfortunately, this means King is the only one drawn alone.
The Jims
1) The Jims are both whitetail deer because deer are herd animals - something that the Jims could be considered, since (to my knowledge) we’ve never seen them apart. They’re whitetails, specifically, because the angles of the antlers (being curved with points arranged in a way sort of resembling a candelabrum) are... challenging, and these drawings were meant to be practice for me.
2) I thought it be funny if the reporter Jim’s microphone wasn’t actually attached to anything, despite being a plug-in microphone, so you can see the cord looped around his antlers, the plug head just. Hanging there.
3) The camera-having Jim’s camera is like that because the only reference I could find for a big camera was that kind. I tried to find a news camera, but, for whatever reason, I couldn’t so, uh. I guess he just has an old photographers’ camera here.
Bing & Google
1) Bing is a king cheetah because they’re very anxious animals, and can only run at full speed for a few moments before they have to stop. Also because I wanted to work with his orange-y color scheme, and cheetahs can be close to that.
2) Google is an african lion because I felt that a feline would be fitting, and the sort of... superiority complex lions tend to be portrayed (in media) as having worked well. Lions are also notoriously vicious to each other and other animals, so I figured that fit, too, with Google’s genocidal tendencies. African lion, specifically, because asiatic lions just aren’t as imposing (and those are the only two options I considered at the time - though I know there are other species).
3) Bing, the disaster he is, is doing double “okay” symbols and wearing daisy dukes. The daisy dukes are mostly because I thought the contrast between him (tank top, cut-off shorts) and Google (respectable t-shirt and slacks), beyond color scheme and the obvious browser logos, would be funny. Also because the concept of ordering an android and having it show up like... that is hilarious to me.
4) Google is about three seconds from decking Bing.
Bim Trimmer & Yandereplier
1) Bim Trimmer is a cross-type fox because he’s suitably conniving and the color scheme fits well. Also because foxes (in media) tend to be portrayed as flirts, and his obvious crush (?) on one of the game show contestants gives that sort of vibe.
2) Yandereplier is a wolfdog for much of the same reason Wilford is - they’re unpredictable and dangerous. Also, again, the sort of lilac-y coloration is nice. I also thought canines being social animals (but also prone to going rogue) would be fitting.
3) I didn’t know who to draw either of them with, so they ended up being drawn together - what’s happening here, I’m not sure, only that Yandere’s blood splattered, and Bim’s terrified (despite being a... frightening individual, himself). He’s got a cross because nothing else (both arms down, one hand in a “stop” gesture, etc.) seemed to look right (also because “cross fox with a cross” is fun to say).
