prattle is obviously pretty neglectful of luce, because his priority was always boulderay

even when he reached out to luce after she left, it was for the sake of boulderay. he couldnt care less that she had a life outside him. also the fact that they meet in the sangrianite mines, meaning he's already distrusting her power. then why does he want her to be mayor? he figures that AHEm can shape her into a perfect mayor (he did it for brink, meaning he was already trained to teach people how to turn into leaders). what matters is that prattle would rather put the lives of luce and all the innocent people working in the mines than trust his daughter not to hurt him (i dont say himself because he's already dying from the sangrianite).

and after Luce has her big tantrum(i only bully her because i kin her), prattle asks her to help these random people become diplomats even though she herself wouldve likely done a better job. so Luce thinks he still doesnt trust her to do that job right. that makes Luce bitter.

so she fucking steals prized artifacts from the countries boulderay is supposed to ally with !! and mayor prattle, does he care that his daughter just committed a crime? NO ! he cares that a crime was committed and now he has to clean up after it. if he had ANY faith in her, if he believed that she had potential to change, he wouldve held her accountable. but why would he? shes not his problem. shes a threat to boulderay and everything will blow over once she dies.

she doesn't care about prattle's well being either. i mean, she knows he's dying and she put locked him up into a cold prison. hes just a weird delusional old man to her. and when she executes her plan, the people who she was supposed to count on, the infinights, rejected her. (ik this isnt chronological shh) and this is where she parallels her father. as soon as they stopped listening to her, the infinights became tools. they are pawns that if she plays right, can be used in her favor. but you know, i think she still was rooting for them somewhat (grisleve, ifykyk).

so when she went to jail, was she remorseful? NO! so the big money: why was she doing all this?

easy. she didnt want to be a leader. she didnt want to help people. she wanted to prove Prattle wrong. she wanted to prove that she could do what he did and better. little miss luce "im here once again to save everyone's ass" prattle built herself a savior complex with her insecurity.

and what i found super interesting was her character arc. because she obviously didn't become a more moral person. (murder, still believes she's a great leader, still using her gloves, etc). what changed about her was her motivation. she stopped believing she needed to prove prattle wrong.

maybe it's bc i haven't read a lot of them but fics w cis stevie that leave the bathroom conversation completely the same in terms of robin being jealous of stevie (or avoid showing the full conversation but imply that everything is essentially the same) confuse me. ik part of it is that a lot of ppl want to keep stobin platonic but like,,, robin had a crush on tammy and became obsessed w steve as a result. she didn't like steve bc of the jealousy aspect; if she thought tammy had a crush on stevie, that would lead to a drastically different result bc it means something completely different in context (ie robin has a shot bc it seems like tammy likes girls). it just wouldn't make that much sense for robin to have a grudge against stevie in that scenario? also, w stevie, imo it's p obvious that robin most likely just would have had a crush on stevie (given that she had a crush on tammy and ended up obsessed w steve as a result i think robin would just be obsessed w stevie right out of the gate) and been awkward when they first started working together bc of that.

There's a balance that must be found. There's interesting gender dynamics at play, and to only switch Stevie to a cis girl and no one else flips, then that complicates all the interactions and dynamics. Not that totally cisswap wouldn't but it complicates things.

For the bathroom scene, it's obviously the Stobin sacred texts etc, but it can be adjusted. It's gotta be about how cool and funny and great Steve thinks Robin is, and Robin trusting Steve and not wanting to lose him. That shouldn't be changed, but context and circumstances can I think.

If it's always cis Stevie and no other cis/genderswap characters, yeah I agree why would Robin reject her in the bathroom scene? Why would she be obsessed with her? If she thought Tammy liked Stevie than she would think she had a shot! (Robin Robin has no gaydar rip) Like there are specific gender and het based reasons for Robin not to like Steve, so if they're both girls that changes a LOT in how Robin would view her and act around her. (Robin being so mad about her crush on Stevie at the start of summer she's like the ice cream gods have cursed me with Cute Girl!! Someone help her)

Though if Robin is also now a boy, that! Could be interesting! That's an interesting thing to explore. I'm just thinking of other cisswapped characters like Nancy and Jonathan (Norman and Johannah?) And how it changes things there. And the party! A bunch of nerdy Weird Girls! Who end up following Most Popular Girl In School Stevie around like little duckies while still being Super Weird.

YES YES oh i'm in love with him hangg on - some of this also rings true with our normal kyle so if you see overlap later that's why!! :3 also sorry for so much stan mentioning, these two ARE sort of sewn at the hip.

stan thinks that he's tying kyle down, keeping him from his dreams or whatever- but honestly, kyle finds helping him out really good for him? he's looking into doing psychological work in the future, and stan's the inspiration for that!

his dad wasn't a fan of that choice! he, obviously, wanted kyle to follow his footsteps- but um. after the whole... troll debacle.. kyle has decided that he's never doing anything his dad wants again. as much as he can, at least.

he's bi & has a preference for masc people! obviously, this doesn't mean he hasn't interacted with more feminine people. he's got a type though! he hasn't ever had a longterm relationship, but has had a lot of quick one-offs that last for a week or two at most; though very few have ended like.. badly? he's friends with everyone still, just... not romantic.

he's in love with stan. he cannot act on this. he knows neither of them would be healthy romantically right now. ( stan's in love with him too, but he's... a lot more obvious about it. kyle pretends that the drunk texts, quiet moments, and reddened faces magically didn't happen. he has to be the responsible one right now. )

he shaves whenever his beard gets annoying- just gets rid of the whole thing and deals with stubble over and over again. it grows fast, but he isn't interested in having a full beard right now- or ever, maybe. (well...... i won't tell him if you won't)

he's hypersexual! this isn't smth that most would really know, but his friends know because it's something that he gets really frustrated about because it distracts him n messes up opportunities for him sometimes;;

in general, he really really reALLY FUCKING HATES his struggles with control at all. he has days where he's keyed up and pissed off for seemingly no reason, and it really beats the shit out of him.

i don't think he actually gives that much of a shit about fashion, but his parents do- that's why he's like.. the most well dressed of the group. especially if they have to wear formalwear for anything- kyle's the only one in a properly fitted three piece.

he likes pockets! he likes having them- even if he's not storing stuff, he just likes knowing he can carry things around. this often results in him and stan carrying shit for each other- sometimes eric and kenny if they ask- and kyle getting home and texting stan like "hey shit you left your emergency inhaler in my pants? do i need to come over" (no, stan has multiple, kyle just worries.)

he's got a really healthy relationship with ike! as much as he has moments of 'god i have no fucking clue what you just said to me, PLEASE speak english and not leetspeak,' they tend to dedicate a slot between homework and sleep on certain weekdays for hanging out on the couch and mooching off their dad's youtube premium plan to watch shit together! or they'll sit in either ike or kyle's rooms, and chat about stuff. ike's still super smart, he always has been, so honestly they probably have really longwinded conversations about Smart People Shit. they also have just as many conversations when ike is laying on his back holding his ratty old dog plushie up above his head bitching about whatever dramas are going on in his friend group, and kyle's just nodding solemnly sitting on the floor like dude i get it. i understand so much. (i'm picturing a loose schedule like.. monday and wednesday being hangout days, and then occasionally saturdays if stan comes over, because stan also loves hanging out with ike! thats his little brother too!)

he used to be Really Fucking Mad at eric all the time, but he's really mellowed out lately and the antics have morphed more into general like... rolling his eyes and sighing. but he's not (usually) chomping at the bit to kick his skull in anymore. sometimes eric does shit that irks him but he's become pretty used to most things.

kenny is obvs the glue of the group, so kyle is really close to them! ken teases about his and stans mutual love, and about how if they dont act soon, kenny's gonna take one of them. neither of them take that seriously- and the k's normally spend their time high and hanging out. (don't ask what theyre taking. its fine.)

he's not as close with butters as the others, but would still do a lot for him. he just... butters is harder to pin down, emotionally? he doesn't know when either of htem will do something to set each other off- and they've had a couple really bad screaming matches because they both have a loud fight response sometimes. he doesn't dislike butters, they are friends! he's just wary.

outside of the main group; he's close with others, primarily like.. tolkien and wendy.

honestly very very recently lol. i can't remember exactly but i think abt 2-3 months ago? ik their dynamic was definitely entertaining to me from the start and there were moments that made me go like "👀" sometimes (bc im a gayass hopeless romantic so im always kinda subconsciously on the lookout for fun characters to ship ig lol), but i started getting genuinely rlly invested in the ship roughly when i watched dimension jump for the first time. something abt seeing rimmer get so jealous and catty abt lister and ace i suppose.......... hehe

my thoughts

i mean obviously i think they're great lol. i am nuts abt them. they're both such fun characters and their dynamic together is just wonderful and iconic and hilarious. even platonically they're just like...... a duo to me. ik all of the dwarfers are a set (Do Not Separate Them) but lister and rimmer especially just go together. it doesn't feel right to talk abt one without mentioning the other. they're just lister and rimmer yknow......... regardless of whether they're friends or lovers i just love them together and love it when they interact

what makes me happy about them

SO MANY THINGS....... the ship does bring a lot of comfort to me bc despite their arguments and the insults that get thrown around they do really care abt each other and it becomes pretty obvious in later seasons. the opposites attract/sun and moon thing they have going on is so endearing to me as well.......... i get so much serotonin from the little moments of honest affection they have for each other in the show.

i think they can be a source of comfort for each other as well, not always in an obvious way but they just keep each other grounded, they're each a reassuring constant in the other's life yknow? also they're both very relatable to me in their own different ways so i would be lying if i said there wasn't an aspect of projection in it as well lol

what makes me sad about them:

the answer to this one is also Many Things......... sometimes they are genuinely just Mean to each other and it makes me a bit sad. and just. lister's childhood and his loneliness and depression and likewise rimmer's childhood and self hatred...... idk they're just both very saddening guys at times, im not even gonna lie. i wish that they'd both allow themselves to be more vulnerable with each other and more open abt their feelings sometimes but ik there are plenty of reasons why that's hard for them. ig it's more their characters separately that make me sad mostly rather than their relationship with each other though, if that makes sense

things done in fanfic that annoy me:

this is a rlly specific personal pet peeve but i kinda dislike it when ppl rlly exaggerate lister's accent in fic. like when they write his speech out as "rimmah" instead of "rimmer" and that sort of thing lol. it's fine in small amounts or if it's a purely comedic fic but if im reading a more emotionally poignant (or sexy) fic and the author has changed the spelling of every second word lister says i just have to exit outta there sorry. for me i feel like since we all know what he sounds like then trying to write out his pronunciation that way just seems awkward and silly. this is by no means an objective thing just personal preference.

it's also a pet peeve of mine when lister gets kinda sidelined or his characterisation gets messed around with in favour of the author basically using him as a self insert bc they're horny for rimmer. it doesn't come up often but when it does it annoys me......... ik rimmer is everyone's special little boy but i love lister too and i don't like to see him get ignored or undervalued like that

things i look for in fanfic:

honestly just an interesting premise really! basically the stuff i look for in any literature, like strong characterisation, a fun plot etc...........

my wishlist:

idk exactly what this one entails? if it means stuff i wish i could see in the show, ig i'd just like to see more sweet genuine moments between them (like the moonlight scene). idk if i would actually want there to be a canon romantic relationship between them, like yeah i ship them so much but ig i just wouldn't want it to be forced or executed weirdly. basically i just want to see more of them exactly as they are now, except maybe they should be nicer to each other sometimes. OH ALSO i need to see deb and arlene again so fucking bad

who i'd be comfortable with them ending up with, if not each other:

this one is tough bc there honestly aren't many romantic prospects for either of them lol. i def wouldn't be comfortable with a romantic relationship between either of them and any of the other dwarfers, just personal taste. i personally view rimmer as a closeted confused gay man so i wouldn't be that comfy seeing him with a female character either so that rules out pretty much everyone for him haha.........

for lister, although i love kochanski and his friendship with her, i don't like the idea of them being "endgame" bc it would feel forced at this point and just...... uncomfortable. honestly i can't imagine feeling comfortable with any other relationships for rimmer/lister being canon lol. i just prefer the idea of them both being single in canon i suppose, sorry lads. it's funny bc in most fandoms im a chronic multishipper but with red dwarf im kinda like rimster or die basically lmao 🤷‍♂️

my happily ever after for them:

basically just the same as they are now but married and in love LOL.

also they need to finally get a proper bed to sleep in together and get out of those goddamn bunks, 1) because i want them to cuddle and 2) lister is in his 50s now and those bunks can't be very comfortable or ergonomic, i am worried abt the state of his back lol. it's not much, ig in the end i just want them to stay together and be happy together. since there seems to be technology that exists to sustain multiple holograms that they've found on other ships, maybe once lister finally dies they could be holograms together and travel the stars together forever....... or maybe the opposite would happen and rimmer would shut himself off so they can just be at peace together. ough sorry this got sad im getting emotional

Okay, has anyone else talked abt the fact that when Gus first greeted fake Willow, before knowing she was fake he mentioned why Hunter really left? He said to Willow ”Dont worry, Hunter’s with us! Also, I think Hunter left the emporer’s coven..!” So that means that the Emperor might know exactly why he left? I mean he might’ve already known after Hollow Mind, but if he didnt he might know now. Though, the person who faked being Willow was the one who quitted at the end of the episode, but maybe the emperor still wanted all the info he had before he got to leave? idk, any other thoughts people?

Edit: Now realizing how I totally didn't get what I was trying to say across here. Decided if they make the NaylorAward an actual thing going forward I can grudgingly accept it because it means Jacs last mention and legacy isn’t about a man who wasn’t even close to her. And I’m reminded of how during the Darwin special Luke and Rosie and Patsy actually loved the idea of their characters all moving to Casualty together under Connie. Why did they not have Jac go to the ED for Zsa Zsa to treat her? IK Rosie is doing theatre stuff now but I can’t move on still.

Yeah, when you put it like that, the Naylor Award thing is very much preferable to if the last ever mention of Jac had been that misogynistic nonsense scene with Fletch. (Although obviously the best case scenario would have been for Casualty to just ignore the whole thing entirely. If they wanted to acknowledge Holby ending, they could bring up Henrik moving away, introduce a new CEO - or someone else from Holby, or a Casualty returnee, I don't really care so long as it's not Henrik - and just ignore the whole Jac thing, leaving open the possibility to retcon it.)

I heard about Luke being open to appearing on Casualty at the time, and I think I'd heard about Rosie as well, but I didn't know until now that Patsy was also open to it! Gah. Imagine how great that would have been. We really could have had it all.

(Also, yes, Jac being treated by Zsa Zsa was such an obvious choice and yet... not even a mention of her. And I completely understand why you can't move on from it all, it was really fucked up and upsetting and to be honest I'm not over it myself.)

Ike was momentarily extremely glad, when Orion looked at him with those thinned eyes, that he was in possession of all his faculties.

There wasn't even a need to answer the first battery of questions, because Orion game to a logical conclusion without Ike's help anyhow. Which was always the better outcome, to hear the other person's ideas of the situation. "I know you're not gonna flip your lid and be a danger to people here," Ike said levelly. "I would've put you down right then and there if that's something I had any worries about. And there was a minute I really had to think it over."

Ike looked at his watch, just so he wasn't looking Orion in the face. "Whenever you're in charge of people," he said, "there's always this one moment you gotta come to some hard and fast decision about them. It's like a hinge -- that's what I call it, your hinge minute. With you, the hinge minute was on whether you were acting in self-defense so you automatically went for a kill shot--" Ike held up his hand, swinging it towards himself, "--or you knew the waters would be muddied enough that you wouldn't be thrown out of Redwood if you killed her." He swung his hand the other way, then sighed and shook his head, dropping his hand.

"Orion," Ike said, "Redwood's my responsibility. You guys, my raiders, you're my responsibility. That matters to me -- especially when what I expect you to do is head back out from these safe, safe walls and right into the shitstorm the rest of the world is dealing with. I mean, that part's obvious, right?"

Orion wasn't a stupid guy; that part would be evident enough. Ike thwapped the back of his hand against Orion's broad chest, then reached up and cupped Orion's skull, at the crown of it, bringing their foreheads together. "You fuckin' matter to me, you dipshit," he said, dragging his thumb against Orion's surprisingly silky hair. "I can take care of myself but I like having you out there with me because I know you got my back. That's why. That's what it is."

Orion remembered his promise to punch Isaac if he ever did a thing like that again. Part of him was close to doing it when Isaac's behavior changed, suddenly, his expression turning from calculating to his usual, carefree demeanor. Letting Orion raise his walls only to try to expertely tear them down again. The worst part was that it worked. Orion had learned to keep people at arm's length for one reason or another, but even he noticed that Isaac had managed to push himself into that space, finding a way to get past those defenses, whether Orion wanted to or not. Especially when he explicity did not want that. Orion's anger evaporated, leaving irritation and frustration in it's wake, but not enough to make him snark back in the same way. Instead he stood there, watching Isaac walk over, his eased and relaxed demeanor a contrast to Orion's tension. "Nothing there to come clean about." The raider retorted, meeting the other man's gaze as Isaac stepped into his personal space. Orion took the closeness, the feeling of Isaac almost touching him, with a sense of discomfort. "You're not going to leave it alone." It was not even a question. Orion took a deep breath, before grabbing his almost full cup and downing it. Isaac was right - he was going to need this. The alcohol burned in his throat, but he didn't stop until he could set the empty cup back down at the table. He directed his inquisitive gaze at the other raider, eyes slightly narrowed. "Why are you doing this? That is what I don't understand. To figure out whether I'm a danger? Whether I will kill more people at the nearest convenience?" Orion leaned forward slightly, the taste of bitter, stinging alcohol filling his mouth. He'd need more of it, but his cup was empty and the room didn't look like it had a bottle stashed away. "But if you thought I was an actual danger to anyone here, why let me come back? Why not try to kill me back there? That is what I can't figure out. Why does this seem to matter to you?"

they're both so competitive lolol

both also have trouble eating

they both had shoujo moment with the ppl they chasing LMAO, like come on when miyuki caught furuya's for the first time then there's okumura who warmed up sawamura for the first time

i fr think they meant for okumura to not make it to first string as fast like furuya did, but made yui make the first string just as quick like eijun didn't its wild, the consistency to these characters are so mindboggling

and then last is yuuki w haruichi

both have really deep respect for their older brothers

came to seidou to see what their brothers seen

obviously both "better" than their brothers

yuuki knows he can surpass tetsu, ryousuke knows haruichi can surpass him

ive not rlly seen much of yuuki, honestly and its sad bc his character is so comical lmaoo. very similar to his brother who so adamant on being so bad at shogi and not knowing it

daiya is such a slow build anime, it takes HELLA patience to like it. i honestly dropped the anime so many times and only went back to it recently bc i want more of miyuki, but then fall and daiya ii happened and gawd, im just mindblown bc the characters start to build up on you

i freaking love mei LOL, i legitimately hated him in the first season but this boy is so hard to resist

you dont understand how much i screamed when he said "I AM KING" like YES MY BABY LMAOOO yakushi makes me smile and i luv raichi and sanada, but man their participation in koushien despite losing to seidou made me eh for a bit bc kinda wild

seidou and inashiro been fighting to go to nationals tooth and nail for the last six or so years and then there's yakushi. i get why tho, but doesnt mean i like it

i also didnt like eijun much, but my baby grew so much you just cant help but love him. even his annoying shouting spree became so endearing, i look forward to it every time he's in the bullpen. that pitching he did during spring against Ichidai is so fucking precious like OMG i understood what the coach and miyuki were trying to do, but they were basically babying furuya knowing he was anything but that, furuya is stronger than that as miyuki put it and ik they have a lot of expectations on aces but god that scene made me so sad bc furuya's alone in his thoughts as it is then they left him even more alone even w eijun there to help him, help them. it's not just furuya that's fighting something, bc eijun is too, everyday and it hurt that they made eijun cry and made him feel like he's not even good enough to be prioritized when he can be so much more. even furuya acknowledges it and it makes me sad bc i really ship miyusawa, but at that moment, i just didn't

anywho i love daiya LMAO, im waiting for the moment the chapters are at least updated bc i cant take cliff hangers rn lolol

But also, I sincerely wouldn’t know what to explain? I’m all for civil discourse and transparency, but I’ve absolutely no clue where this came from. If OP would only be so decent as to give her reasonings, or heck even “proofs” LOL. 

As is pretty obvious, my blog is discourse free, so much so that I can count the couple of times that there was discourse here (which was two, maybe three times depending on what you think is discourse):

One time last year, when BLM protestors vandalized the Black Madonna. I was upset with their crime of vandalizing something sacred, something which also commemorates the Polish lives lost for the freedom of the Dutch. So there was some discourse around that.

And then a while ago I answered an ask in which I mentioned being against globalization. 

However, I explained myself both times and to then assume me as racist still... well, at that point all I can do is to advise people to be honest with themselves and to ask whether they’re not extremely polarized in their way of thinking; and to do a bit of self-knowledge, which is the most honourable thing one can do for oneself, and others.

Most of the time the “backlash” is either from minors or from people whose spectacles are just black and white, no colours. I mean, feel free to look it all up in my archive if you like, I don’t delete posts. 

Also: I’m not discussing the above mentioned points on this blog, again. Either you look it up in my archive, OR you message me off-anon so I can privately answer any questions you might have.

Okay, has anyone else talked abt the fact that when Gus first greeted fake Willow, before knowing she was fake he mentioned why Hunter really left? He said to Willow ”Dont worry, Hunter’s with us! Also, I think Hunter left the emporer’s coven..!” So that means that the Emperor might know exactly why he left? I mean he might’ve already known after Hollow Mind, but if he didnt he might know now. Though, the person who faked being Willow was the one who quitted at the end of the episode, but maybe the emperor still wanted all the info he had before he got to leave? idk, any other thoughts people?
