my biggest star wars hot take is that chirrut imwe is still the best thing the disney era has produced. you cannot top a gay blind monk who has an even more strongly religious devotion to the force than actual jedi and sith, and it literally guides him through life
#personal crap#star wars#i mean baze might be able to but that's not what i mean lol#tbh when chrono and i rewatched rogue one earlier this year we were both floored it's so fucking good#not even cause of the darth vader bit everyone nuts over it's just a fantastic heist-y movie with a great cast and emotional stakes

I am reading the Rogue One visual guide and I’m going to ramble at you about it
Starting with Baze and Chirrut facts because nothing is more important than Baze and Chirrut
- The Guardians of the Whills believe very deeply in the Force but their cosmology doesn’t center any fight between light and dark and they believe mortal minds can ‘encompass the totality of the Force’ with the right training (seemingly even for non-Force sensitives). *thinks of a little green baby who’s going to need some help with his place in the universe one day and how reductive the light/dark side dichotomy can be* good to know good to know. yes everything eventually comes down to baby yoda and his poor stressed out dad. protect them
- “Opposites in balance. Chirrut Îmwe and Baze Malbus share a homeworld and a history, although they strike a compelling contrast. Baze is a hardened pragmatist, while Chirrut’s faith flourishes even in trying times. They both claim to act as the protector of the other.”
in every way they are #goals. bffs/partners to lovers is Everything. ‘They both claim to act as the protector of the other’ is very funny and very sweet and very true; my favourite thing
- this book describes chirrut as baze’s ‘best friend and moral compass’, which is a funny way of spelling ‘husband of 30 years’ but who am I to criticize
- baze is just. he’s so good. they say here pragmatism is his biggest trait but you can tell how much love has been at the center of him (and probably continues to be under it all) from the totality of his rage. I don’t think you can be this deeply hurt without loving just as deeply first. (like chirrut says, he used to believe more than anyone and now he’s thrown aside literally everything about the guardians except chirrut) it’s like he’s suffered a moral wound just seeing what’s happened to his home and it won’t heal and it never does, he just loses chirrut too and then at least it’s over. jesus christ it’s so soul crushingly sad in a quiet undramatic way
- “Though both are Guardians of the Whills, Baze and Chirrut could not be more different in their approach to combat. Traditionalist Chirrut still carries weapons associated with the ancient order, while Baze adopts an implement of modern warfare. Their methods suit them individually, and both are effective extensions of their distinctive personalities. Though Baze may chide Chirrut for his antiques, and Chirrut may decry Baze’s reliance on soulless tools, they trust each other’s defences to such weapons.”
THEY TRUST EACH OTHER’S DEFENCES TO SUCH WEAPONS. YOU HAD TO WORD IT LIKE THAT HUH. YOU HAD TO GO AND MAKE IT CLEAR THEY’RE EACH OTHER’S MOST IMPORTANT THING IN THE WHOLE WORLD. WHAT. THE FUCK
- it’s implied baze’s hair used to be shorter when he was a Guardian! he’s just let it grow past what’s customary for them (and an excellent choice too his hair is wonderful)
- his repeating blaster is described as ‘modified and highly illegal’ hahaha
it also weighs 30 kg and is meant to be mounted on a tank
baze is the best
- chirrut built his own lightbow! apparently used to be a thing the guardians did to symbolize the end of their training. I wonder if baze used to have one too? even more I wonder if they’ve always been part of the same uh ‘divisions’ or what have you within the guardians, because I think there are some implications that baze has been more of an assassin/focused on violent conflicts even before the empire came and chirrut hasn’t
- this book does not adequately capture chirrut’s trickster/funny side, making me wonder how much of that was an addition by the actor and how much was planned out
- honestly... more baze & chirrut (well baze/chirrut let’s not play here) prequel books WHEN. what does their living room look like (because we do know they live together) how did they meet, when exactly did baze lose his faith and chirrut his sight, what was their first kiss like
inquiring minds want to know (it’s me I want to know)
- unless the wording is deliberately misleading here chirrut was not born blind (though he won’t discuss how he ended up this way) and he’s learned his current fighting technique over a prolonged period of time
- bodhi is a bit of a gambling addict! and specifically one who’s pretty good at it; even after the empire knows he’s a defector he gets past their restrictions because he’s saved up all the credits/favours/even id-vouchers he’s owed by other imperial grunts fsdhfksdjf precious I love him
- saw gerrera’s medical droid a) has been modified so its programming won’t stop it from being able to dispense drugs at dangerous intervals, b) professes sheer bafflement that saw is still alive and c) is ‘frequently deactivated to prevent it from building an ethical case to discontinue treatment’. I find the whole thing darkly hilarious.
- there are literally whole subplots going on in the crowd scenes on Jedha about a mad evil surgeon who ‘decraniates’ people (essentially turning them into mindless servile husks with all of their head above the nose cut off, somehow), a masked cop from the Milvayne Authority who’s gone rogue to do the right thing and hunt him down against orders, a death cult, a bunch of different religious sects, a translation droid who has befriended a group of local orphans and shares his credits with them so they can eat and he’s SAVING UP FOR A PROCESSOR UPGRADE SO HE CAN BEGIN TO UNDERSTAND THE NATURE OF SPIRITUALITY ;_____; what the fuck I want a tv-series about this droid IMMEDIATELY
- this book shows you just how crucial K-2 is as an asset and what a masterstroke cassian’s reprogramming of him is... and it says some very, very sweet things about cassian as a person under all the trauma and spy stuff that he essentially treats him as his best friend instead of a tool. cASSIAN he deserved to survive and have SO much therapy ;_____; ah well at least we’re getting a prequel series about him right? pls be good
- oh cassian was a proper separatist during the clone wars! he probably has some very interesting points of view about the republic pre- and post empire huh (this is what I love about the clone wars era; they have built SUCH a believable and interesting political world here, all shades of grey. there were separatists with very valid points even thought they were lead by a guy named COUNT DOOKU played by CHRISTOPHER LEE, the first sign that you should look inwards and ask yourself... wait are we the bad guys)
- it’s so much more understandable to me now who in the rebel leadership is for following jyn’s plan and who is not. (namely: the ministers of finance and industry are both Not Into challenging the empire directly, kind of understandably)
in depth description of weapons technology... I sleep. deep dives into the political structure of the alliance leadership and their backgrounds and motivations? I have never been happier
(this. sort of should have been in the actual movie tho things would have made more sense)
- BAIL ORGANA Leia’s actual dad out there lookin’ fiiine, being righteous and good, almost making me forget he’s going to die SO SOON oh fuck :(
- orson krennic is, presumably straight faced, described as ‘a cruel but brilliant man’ which is PATENTLY LUDICROUS because krennic is by literally every indication a fucking idiot, he needs galen to do all the real work for him, he mouths off to DARTH VADER and then tarkin just effortlessly swoops in and fucks him over in the end, easily outmaneuvering him... orson krennic is a fucking loser I don’t care if he’s the one who introduced brutalist architecture to coruscant
lol lol lol *arrow pointing towards krennic’s head* ‘Keen mind dissects architectural puzzles and conspiratorial plots’ okay I see what happened here orson krennic wrote this book
- oh galen erso is kind of one of the most interesting and heartbreaking characters in all of star wars. (and I do not say this just because of mads mikkelsen’s cheek bones) he’s incredibly intelligent but from a really poor family and wanted to eliminate the difference between rich and poor and invent a new form of infinitely renewable energy... and technically he did achieve that, except his old college buddy orson krennic immediately found a way to use his technology for genocide and he didn’t realize until it was too late :’) there is something so comforting in the fact that in the end galen still got the last laugh in the most epic but unsung way. he’s the sort of quiet Magnificent Bastard who doesn’t even care he’ll never get the credit as long as it worked. u did good on that one jyn
also several of the scientists galen is leading on eadu are in the same category as him -- captured and forced to work for the empire. so that’s great and not at all upsetting
- galen and lyra’s falling in love story is kind of sweet (though naturally it pales against baze and chirrut’s whole deal but then who could compare) and the sheer effort and detail that’s gone into building the farmstead in the beginning we end up seeing for 5 minutes... dude (it feels very convincingly like somewhere a family would live though)
- *sees that ‘databook’ is a concept that exists apparently; groans in fic research I thought ‘holodisc’ might do the job but maybe this is a better fit*
- I will say that my largest gripe with this movie is how glaringly unnecessarily male it is. there’s literally no reason for most of the rebels and ESPECIALLY all of the scientists to be male but here we are.
well the stormtroopers could all canonically be any gender behind the armor so uh that’s. something lol
- despite being all desert-y jedha is apparently quite cool! temperature-wise I mean though the huge ancient statues lying everywhere are pretty awesome too
- wow stormtrooper armor really does just suck huh. it’s like ‘well it might protect you from a blaster bolt if you stand upwind and angle yourself just right, who knows’. I guess this is why everyone and their grandmothers are drooling over mando’s beskar lol
- star wars’ insistence on sticking to single-biome planets is so silly and I love it. stick to that incomprehensible world building decision lucasfilm I respect you
- mon mothma! basically the most important character in the star wars universe who most people won’t know about lol she’s like the anti-palps. for the most part she is one of the most Big Goods in all of star wars (along with bail) but also she’s played by the actress who voices moira in overwatch so I do instinctively distrust her whenever I hear her talk haha. called palpatine a ‘lying executioner’ to his face which is both admirably bold and remarkably restrained, considering all the things palpatine is.
- oof the two people mentioned the most on anakin/vader’s pages are palpatine and obi wan. that’s. hurtful and bad and awful. the greatest trick the devil ever pulled was making me watch ‘clone wars’ because watching ‘clone wars’ actually made me care about anakin skywalker :(
-ah shit this is a lot of pages about pasty empire dudes i’ll uh come back to these lol
#first post of 2020! keeping it on rambling brand into the new decade#star wars#rogue one#baze x chirrut#meta#if you're here for information about baze's hair and how overwatch has coloured my view of a star wars character...#boy have I got a post for you lol

Ocean Blue Eyes Colson Baker X Tianna Pt 2/2
Word Count: 1,661
Warning: Smut need I say more
A/N: sorry took so long here is part 2 a section of the poem written by @girlwiththe-brokensmil3 is included you'll have to excuse me I may or may not have gone waaayyy to far lol 😜😂
"Is this really happening?" Tianna thought to herself, here she was sitting on the tour bus with none other than Colson Baker himself. She thought about pinching herself but hell if it was a dream I'll be damned she did not want to wake up!
Colson, Tianna, Rook, Slim, Baze & Dub were hanging out in the main area of the bus smoking and chilling. Every few seconds Colson couldn't help himself but to be catching an occasional glance at her God she was beautiful. "I think we should escape to the back, have more of a chance to be alone that way." He whispered to her after a moment. Colson grabbed her hand leading her to the back, "we will see you guys later." He spoke up. "Uh huh we all know you want to tap that." Rook called out jokingly, Colson shot him a look saying with that "shut the fuck up" type glance.
The instant movement was at an almost matrix like speed it's like if you blinked you would miss it. Colson was now standing so close there was only mere inches between them. Tianna felt like her heart would nearly beat out of her chest, "I know I'm just another wide eyed fan to you, but to me your everything and more. I will always remember the night an ocean blue eyed rapper looked into my eyes and spoke the truth."
Colson was drawn to her voice, the words their meaning and their feeling. "Fuck that's deep baby girl." Tianna blushed "I wrote it myself." Colson closed the space between them his lips touching hers. The kiss was sweet yet deep and it made her breathless and dizzy. Pulling away for a moment he looked at her, "I don't know if I will be able to control myself." He managed to speak out. "I don't think I want you to do so." Tianna stated with lustful look. Colson lost all resolve right then at that moment those words was all it took.
Then there was sex. My, god, the sex. Every position, every angle, every woman… he wasn’t picky. He loved women with or without curves, with or without sexual knowledge, give him pussy and breasts, and he was a happy, happy man.
But nothing, no one got his motor running like Tianna. He wanted to do things with her, to her that he knew no one else would enjoy as much as he did, as much as she did or what would soon come to knowledge of what she would like. And tonight was going to be no exception.
She was spread out on the bed, arms above her head, wrists secured to the headboard by soft leather cuffs. Her gloriously long legs were spread, ankles secured like her wrists. She writhed on the bed, her bod aching for his touch, for any kind of friction. A moan of desperation fell from her full lips, raspy from having just screamed his name like it was a mantra.
She sucked her bottom lip between her teeth, biting it roughly. Her eyes, pupils lust blown, went wide, and she balled her hands into fists, tugging on her restraints. They followed him as he strutted alongside the bed, unashamed of his nakedness. If she tilted her head just so, she could see the wide head of his cock swinging with each step.
At the end of the bed, Colson took himself in his hand and very slowly, very deliberately, began to pump himself. He was still damp from her slick, just starting to grow tacky. His calloused hands worked expertly at his length, sweeping his thumb over his tip. “You like to watch, don’t you, Tianna?”
She pushed her head into the mattress as her back arched off the bed. He smiled in approval when the grunt of his name caught in her throat. With her legs spread as they were, she couldn’t rub her thighs together, but that didn’t stop her from trying. She craved friction anyway she could get it.
He bit his bottom lip as he pumped a little faster, the one long vein that ran along the underside of his cock became more prominent. He knew how much she wanted to run her tongue along that vein, even nip at it or scrape a fingernail over it. His lids drooped as he reached down and grabbed his balls, giving them a firm squeeze.
She tugged on all her restraints and opened her mouth to beg him to get over here and fuck her in whatever hole he wanted, but all that came out was a breathy cry.
Colson's half-closed eyes were settled on her sex. She was dripping wet and he could almost see the rush of blood under her skin with every race of her heart.
Just when he thought he might have gone too far, that he might come all over himself, he stopped, and pinched the tip in order to put his orgasm on hold. His lungs ached from breathing heavy and he knew just by looking at her, just by smelling the sex in the air, that she was more than ready.
He knelt at the end of the bed and hunched over, fists on either side of her hips. He dipped his head, brushed his nose against her hip bone, and breathed her in. “Fuck, Tianna, you smell incredible.”
She rolled her hips, pushing his face closer to the part of her that literally ached for him. He glowered at her before digging his fingers into her hips, pushing them down into the mattress. “Hold. Still.”
He didn’t give her time to respond. One second he was giving a command and the next, he had two digits thrust into her pussy. It took everything she had left, which wasn’t much, not to move or cry out as his fingers assaulted her. She was doing really well, too, until he flicked his tongue over her already over-stimulated clit.
She split her lip from biting it too hard and let loose a scream that was sure to wake the neighborhood.
Hand still on her, he kissed her savagely, drawing more blood from the cut her teeth had made. His fingers were gone from her heat so that she could participate more in the kiss. Giving her tongue one last suck, he slapped each breast twice before biting his way back between her legs. Her breasts and stomach bore various shades of red and purple from his teeth and fingers, but not one of them hurt more than she could handle.
He looked up at her and smirked as he thrust his fingers between her folds, groaning as she latched onto him. Her whole body shook, but she forced herself not to grind against him, to force his mouth on her next. With a throaty chuckle, he blew on her as his fingers pumped, crooking them against the one spot that would send her into oblivion.
Her whole body flushed as she came on Colson’s hand, but he wasn’t done with this orgasm. He flicked his tongue over her clit, circling it with the tip before wrapping his sinfully full lips around it. He gave one hard suck, nipping at it with his teeth and it was as if someone threw a flash grenade in her mind. A piercing static burst in her ears and her vision went white. Her hips came off the bed as she screamed ColsonColsonColson. He grabbed her ass and buried his face further, forcing her through the painful orgasm.
“Tell me what you want, Tianna.” She sucked in a breath through her teeth. “I want you to fuck me.”
Everything after that was almost a blur. He drove himself into her hard enough that her head smacked into the headboard. Again and again, with a wet smack of skin sent through the room every time their hips met. Their grunts and moans echoed the sounds their bodies made.
She began to quake beneath him, around him, and he knew that cutting off her oxygen supply would get them both off that much faster. With a snarl, his hand flexed, pinching off the top of her wind pipe. Her eyes went wide and her orgasm was almost immediate. She grunted and gurgled as she came hard and almost violently. Her face began to turn a lovely shade of crimson.
He pistoned his hips harder, using his grip on her throat for leverage, slamming against her until his balls squeezed, and he came. The black of his pupils exploded as he spilled into her. Their darkness consumed the intense baby blues.
Her knuckles tapped the headboard, the signal that she’s reached her hard limit. His hand loosened, but his hips didn’t stop their assault. Even though they had both come, their bodies craved the friction. His balls smacked against her ass with a slick slap and his mouth was on her neck where his hand had just been. He bit, licked, and sucked until she came again. No words, no sound this time, just a high arch of her back and her mouth thrown open. He rode her until neither one of them could move, until they had reached the limit of their own bodies.
When Tianna could move again she got up from the bed to head towards the adjoining bathroom. Colson stared at her from the bed, both of them naked, the room reeking of sex and leather and candle wax and various lotions. The way her ass bounced when she shifted on her feet in front of the mirror sent blood rushing down to his groin. He crooked a finger, beckoning her to him. “Get over here.” Tianna made quick strides to him, "I don't want to let you go baby girl, will you marry me?" Throwing both of her arms around him she was quick to answer. "There is nothing I would want more Colson Baker."

I will never get over the "i don't believe in love at first sight / but godamn" gifset for jyn/cassian, it's perfect. also, your tags on the partisan jyn rec have me imagining a persuasion au, this time with cassian as anne and jyn as wentworth (draven as lady russell, I guess??) I love Persuasion AUs and that fic is so good :)
Heeeh, I love it!
I hadn’t really thought of the details of an alternate AU, beyond thinking that captaincy and gender aside, Wentworth (careless, impulsive, generous, spirited) is the most like Jyn, and Anne (obedient, withdrawn, intense, faithful) the most like Cassian. But I think it could work.
(Completely scattered thoughts on the ‘how,’ but I definitely think it would be fun and interesting!)
Draven is definitely the obvious Lady Russell candidate (he could even be ambiguously positive in the way Ly R is, which would be an interesting take on him). Mon Mothma would be very interesting, too—I think she’s more of a Lady Russell-type personality (which would leave Draven as Sir Walter, omfg). And I think it would allow for some exploration of what’s the most interesting part of Persuasion for me.
The thing is, Persuasion never really answers the question of whether Anne was morally wrong or right to break off her relationship with Wentworth under Lady Russell’s influence. It feels wrong. It turned out badly. But morality is not determined by consequences alone, and here, there’s a complex system of obligations and risks at play. Anne felt an obligation to listen to Lady Russell’s advice—not to obey unthinkingly, but to strongly factor it into her decision-making process, given her own youth, Lady Russell’s role as her surrogate mother, and her deep respect for her.
And Lady Russell was right in believing there were real risks to Anne marrying Wentworth so young, risks to any children they might have, etc. His ‘I don’t need to save anything, I’ve always been lucky, I’ll always be lucky’ shtick did him zero favours—Mr Price probably thought so, too, and the fact that Wentworth’s luck did hold is … well, lucky. “I’m going to go fight Napoleon and make a bunch of money, everything’s going to be fine” is not a compelling argument!
On top of that, the winning point in Lady Russell’s argument—the thing that finally swayed Anne—was that the marriage would be bad for Wentworth. A young, delicate wife with no dowry and a collection of snobbish, expensive, totally douchey relatives would be a genuine disadvantage to a young sailor with no connections and no money. And that is also, in fact, perfectly reasonable.
So it’s not simply a snobbish woman dissuading a weak-willed girl who then develops a stronger sense of self through suffering and maturity. Snobbery absolutely played a part in Lady Russell’s motives—all of this would have been much less pressing if Wentworth were someone more like Colonel Fitzwilliam, who would double as a Worthy Alliance and bring powerful, wealthy relations into the picture. Anne may very well have been less swayed by Lady Russell’s arguments if she hadn’t faced uniform opposition from her family, hadn’t been so young and uncertain. But nevertheless, those arguments were largely reasonable, and in the end, Anne’s view is that she wishes she hadn’t taken Lady Russell’s advice, that she would never give the same advice, but that morally she was right to take it.
I mean, there’s a lot going on there, ethically, and the book doesn’t offer clear conclusions. (UNCLEAR ETHICAL DILEMMAS
ANYWAY, MULTIPLE PARAGRAPHS LATER, that’s not something I often see confronted, even in full-on adaptations. (Particularly, one might say. >_>) And I think it would be interesting to play with it—something where Draven/Mothma/whomever have entirely valid reasons (but also dodgy ones) for their interference, and where Cassian has a real obligation to consider their opinions, and where the killing blow (as it were) would be that he is bad for Jyn (only too easy to believe he’d find convincing!).
It’s even … like. I can definitely see Draven being profoundly unenthusiastic about his 23-y-o prodigy spy suddenly getting entangled with a 19-y-o Partisan who is also the daughter of an Imperial collaborator. But I think it’s very possible that the likes of Mothma and Draven would probably not care that much about the flings of teens and 20-somethings. The kind of concerted, intense effort leveled against Anne in Persuasion might need something more.
But Cassian, despite his sidelines in assassination and field command, is primarily a recruiter. So. Suppose that his ostensible mission is rebuilding ties with the Partisans and working out some mutual support arrangement. But in reality, the judgment of Intelligence is that the Partisans are doomed by their extreme insularity, drastic collateral damage, unclear objectives, and attraction of Imperial attention. Coordination with the Partisans is an acceptable start, but the actual goal is to draw as many of Saw’s highly-skilled fighters into the Alliance as possible before the whole organization self-destructs or gets obliterated, but without turning Saw actively against them.
Of course, it’s not a secret that the Alliance is generally out to peel off as many recruits as they can get, and ofc the Rebel agent is going to be trying to draw people into the Rebellion. But what they don’t know is that this is why Cassian is there.
Okay, anyway, this is what 23-y-o Cassian is up to. It’s a task of extraordinary trust, and he’s on guard against almost everything. But falling madly in love with Saw’s foster daughter was not one of those things. And it’d be one thing if he was just pining (it would be awful, but—), but no, this ferocious, shining supersoldier is (for some reason) also in love with him.
On top of that, they’re both very much older than their ages, but in some ways younger—they were never able to be kids, to have silly crushes, anything like that. So they’re dorky and overwhelmed and unrealistic, just swept off their feet. They hold hands and talk about … running off together? But they can’t stop fighting the Empire. Cassian would never make a Partisan, but Jyn could join the Rebellion. And then they could be together!!!
(I suspect that at heart, Jyn wants out; large-scale collateral damage is not her gig.)
Anyway, Cassian would get a very sharp reality check, because the point was to draw away as many useful soldiers as he could without completely antagonizing Saw, and wow is “seducing away his best soldier and, oh yeah, DAUGHTER” not included in that description. Of course, he’s horrified because It’s Not Like That, but also … well. Yeah.
And while Jyn is brashly sure that of course she’ll succeed at whatever she does, she always has, he’s increasingly doubtful that she’d be at all happy in the Rebellion. The Partisans are her family, the only life she knows; she doesn’t know anyone else in the Rebellion at all, she’d chafe under the command structure, she’d lose everything, and have nothing to counterbalance it all but one tormented spy.
They’re not going to demand that a talented soldier not join the Rebellion, of course, or involve themselves in the obvious affair. But they don’t have to; once persuaded, Cassian does the dirty work himself. He persuades Jyn to stay with the Partisans after all, breaks things off, and leaves, having carefully arranged for a good number of Partisans to defect to the Rebellion over the next several months. Jyn, naturally, feels furious and betrayed (all the more after some of her friends leave).
And that’s where it starts, lol. Now I’m thinking—like, taking ‘little sister’ and running with it, Sophy would be Baze and Admiral Croft would be Chirrut (AMAZE). While I don’t see Cassian getting winded by a long walk à la Anne, he could be hiding an injury or something that Jyn notices (and hates that she notices, and hates more that nobody else does).
I don’t know at all who would play the Louisa Musgrove role (it’s not my favourite element of the plot tbh, but kind of necessary). And I don’t know how the scene with Wentworth helping Anne with her nephews would play out but it needs to happen, it’s my favourite. And of course the gender politics wouldn’t really work. (Though Wentworth/Jyn coming to their senses via competence kink would, lol.) And we’d need some terribad teammates or something to serve the role of the Elliots.
(Draven would really be the best bet, if not already taken as the Lady Russell. That really works best as someone that Cassian is actually close to, though, which is… like, nobody. And honestly, Lady Russell is the only person Anne is close to, but—OMG, KAY. IF KAY IS LADY RUSSELL … JESUS. HAHAHA WOW. That’d even work with Kay and Jyn being super chilly at each other, and Cassian could overhear Jyn talking ~idly~ with some of the rest of the team about a mission that went hilariously-in-retrospect wrong thanks to Rebel!Mary Musgrove this shitty commander. They’d have much rather had Andor, since SpecOps do serve under Intelligence now and then, but couldn’t get him. The rumour was that [x] talked him out of it. And Jyn’s like, huh, he’s very easily persuaded, isn’t he? And they’re … not really? That damn droid and direct commands are pretty much the only thing that stops him.)
((For bonus awful: during their brief honeymoon phase, the idea had been that Jyn would join up with SpecOps and once he made captain, they could build a joint Intel/SpecOps team.))
Oh, and Benwick is a former Partisan who was in love with a civilian in Jedha who died before they could settle down. I think the Harvilles joined the Rebellion (probably Cassian’s not!recruits, in fact). Also, there definitely needs to be a way of working in the ‘even when hope is gone’ speech (though as above, the gender politics don’t work at all).
Ha, even the ‘I should not have known her’ slam could work? I mean, it’s absurd to talk about Cassian as ~faded~, but he is definitely prematurely aged, and Jyn could easily make a snide remark about hardly recognizing him.
I can’t see Jyn writing anything so melodramatic as Wentworth’s letter, but it’d be sort of hilarious if she types up her vision into a datapad and then is trying to figure out a way to casually leave it lying around, but not so casually that Cassian doesn’t notice. (As if, but Emotions.)
#ishipallthings#respuestas#plotbunnies!#/#//#///#////#star wars#persuasion#otp: welcome home#it'd be really involved if you want to match persuasion at all closely (which i would)#(i'm still trying to think of something for the musgrove children bc i'd really want that#only it couldn't be actual children#but something cassian could reasonably be responsible for and handles well which is in fact someone else's job#and jyn running interference is the first point where things warm up again)#(honestly it could probably be wiring a ship or repairing droids or something—something relatively urgent)#(heh it honestly works best if he's actually not the ranking member and has to answer to. like. a major? that's the mary)#(he's technically on leave. aka sent along to make sure the major doesn't fuck anything up)#(bonus if the shitty major is actually really good at something and genuinely respects cassian#he's just an awful commander and a frequent asshole#and lazy af#when it comes to anything outside his own specializations#though he enjoys the partisan raids to a disturbing extent and is all THIS is what we should be doing!!!#i think he (the major) has some little troll of an astromech that he cares about but is unintentionally awful to#or... whatever kind of droid would be appropriate- but cassian has to keep restoring data etc and the droid is a /pain/)#(jyn comes in just to see it zap him and she's like... seriously? the fuck is this little monster)#(there we go. musgroves!)#inverted persuasion au#jyn erso#cassian andor

ok comprehensive list of thoughts re: rogue 1 from someone who has tbh never seen a star war and never really wants to in no particular chronological order
the music was ..........not good like... it felt mismatched for the scenes like...a LOT imo
some of the line deliveries were like... bad. like ?? not sure if that was supposed to be how they sounded or what but like... why did the director let that go
was that one guy CG?? Like I know for sure Leia was but every time that mf was on screen I was like ... is he real?? I think probably he was not real
KS20 is my son, my child, and I love them
KS20 is probably in love with Cassian tbh like... tbh.
I didn’t like Cassian at all lmao like i know i was supposed to be like ah u see he did things for what he believed in!! but i was kinda like eh.
Baze and Chirrut were great like looking at the gifs you don’t hear the like joyful lil fuckin shithead’s voice like :D I don’t need luck I have you like wow Chirrut just conscript your husband I mean friend into this fight here wow
“i’ll tell you your fortune if you give me that necklace” and jyn being like HOW DID YOU KNOW like girl... be real. he is clearly a blind but not blind monk ok like... he Knows These Things probably because of the force
chirrut just poppin a squat on top of a dead?? stormtrooper like oh well damn buddy sure just fuckin pull up a chair make yourself at home
“anyone else?” baze just flops back like 2 tired for this shit like me 2 baze me too like just lay down you’re old it’s alright
“chirrut are you praying” then chirrut 2 seconds later “we’ve been in worse cells dw cassian lol” like... chirrut is a Dramatic Hoe and I love him
me, every time mads was on screen: TELL ME DOCTOR LECTER
”be careful not to choke on your aspirations” this fucking bitch!!! hahaha Extra. I slapped my knee in the theatre tbh I laughed and no one else did but I managed to keep quiet
“is it gone? tell me” and baze just keeping quiet bc he doesn’t want to say it like ... amazing
Jyn was ok, didn’t dislike her but I felt nothing for her in particular like I liked her, but I didn’t love her
”I am w/you...but only because Cassian told me I had to be” like lmao I laughed again and no one laughed everyone in the theatre were humourless I s2g
Bodhi aka Beautiful, Outstanding, Dedicated, Handsome Individual he was precious I loved him “this is for you galen” like uh ok never asked for these feelings but thanks
when Baze called Jyn little sister??? Like ??? I became ... Emotional for some reason like no I haven’t seen the other movies but like lmao I know that Anakin sure killed all the baby jedis so I got the implication that she was like force sensitive or w/e
me, every time baze and chirrut were on screen together: :)
the desperation in baze’s voice when he was calling chirrut back like ??? bye. like.. .. wow.
”don’t go, I’m here” wow. ok.
baze looking back at chirrut and smiling ?? knowing they would be together again soon?? like uh again, wow ok.
every time the imperial march played i thought of the vids where ppl replaced it with toxic and had to try not to laugh tbh
“if cassian comes back i’ll leave them here” like you shady bitch just watchin out for your man good for you k
the romance was barely there and so i was like ok but at the same time i didn’t need it tbh it felt rushed like a bitch just met this guy who spent half the film lying to her and now she loves him?? tbh felt like she saw her dad in him re: “I did what i had to for a cause i believed in” which honestly is weird but maybe that’s just me
”goodbye” me, wiping tears from my face and reachin towards the screen “goodbye k :’(”
“I will tell you this thing about ____ in spoken exposition in a pretty unnatural way”
bodhi just doing what he knows is right bc his heart?? is so good??? like ??? please someone... get this man a blanket and his favourite snacks
the implication that now k has to kill his own kind for the rebellion like ... wowwww. like “i’m sure there’s a map around lol” like wow. sad
I felt that there wasn’t enough to go on for a lot of the characters like yeah, we get some stuff from them but there really wasn’t enough time to get to know them super well like... not like we didn’t know them at all but it felt sparse in some areas i guess idk i guess i just liked the characters and wanted to know more about them lmao
the like xwing(??) sequences were cool and great even though they definitely felt corny and old fashioned i liked them
the whole movie felt corny and old fashioned and tbh at first it bugged me but i grew to accept it like certain scenes were definitely modern, but others were definitely like... indicative of the series and how old it is idk how to explain LOL
the dialogue in this movie was ... not great lmao like... was it a conscious choice??? idk maybe it’s a style thing but it felt like when characters talked sometimes i was like “why is this character saying this”
liked the characters tho, so that’s what made me able to enjoy the movie i think lmao like i just watched mag 7 recently so like... it was the same story basically so it’s like ok same formula but in space ok but this one had a robot and no characters i hated by default bc racism so like. saved it.
All in all, I enjoyed it but I probably wouldn’t like watch it again right away. Tbh it is not a movie where I’m like wow, a masterpiece, like with cap 2 tws which i saw in theatres 6 times within like 4 weeks.
I would not watch a star war after this one just because like. i know with the exception of the TFA ...it’s all downhill lmfao. like I KNOW THEY’RE IMP MOVIES TO PEOPLE and everyone has movies like that but i feel like i’m past the age where i’m going to become obsessed. i might live to eat my words but for now i’m like yeah no i’m good not watching this 90000 year old movie with even worse dialogue than this one
