maybe
i should talk to my manager(s), ask what the shortest shift i can take is, and adjust my availability
cause uh
timing things tomorrow and im cutting a LOT very close
#i may see if i can work like... a 3-3.5 hour shift instead of a 4#that might fit better monday/wednesdays#and ask if i could be scheduled most future weekends#ill see how tomorrow goes but i might just text my manager and ask if i could talk w her one on one#or the assistant manager anyways#i havent seen my manager around in over a week#but anyways have a 1 on 1 and talk about my availability/scheduling#cause i like the job!!! but my classes this semester are pretty spaced out but not in a way that could fit a 4+ hour shift#or like maybe talk to her and say 'hey if i could be scheduled sun fri sat each week for 7-8 hours thatd be great'#cause that fulfills my part time hours + i get a decent amount of money + i have way more time to focus on that#the only thing is i JUST updated my availability for her but uh. that was before actually doing it in practice#amber's shit you can ignore

okay so. i’m just gonna rant. about some pain i’ve been experiencing for a while. like, we’re getting into it
if anyone would like to put in their two cents, feel free. im kinda just yelling about my problems into a void, but im definitely not gonna stop people who might know what this is from giving me advice.
idk. my brains shutting down a bit.
TDLR: my left arm has been in constant pain for three days. it’s probably nerves or something. i’m very addled rn. i hate the world i want to sleep for a millennia. i also have had similar, smaller pain issues over a course of 4 months. i hate it here. i would very much like this to not be a thing, please.
so this story starts the mid may. my last month of school. i’m suffering through just to end this bullshit. but i notice that p much every time i have to do some slightly more than normal walking, some random body part of mine will just be in this sort of dull pain.
and i just kinda go. huh. okay. ow. and brush it off. this continues. it’s pretty minor, (like barely a 1/10 on a scale) but enough for me to be mildly annoyed by it on occasion.
go to two weeks before my school lets out for summer.
i get appendicitis and have surgery for it. i’m fine. that situation went better than expected, i was just not the most comfortable.
appendicitis pain traditionally presents in the lower right quadrant of the abdomen. right next to a shit ton of nerves. and the pain i’m going through starts to affect my leg. can’t really walk without alarms going on.
it gets better. i’m not like. comfortable, but i’m just taking ibuprofen a few times a day and managing decently. 3.5/10 pain level average.
but then, as i start going out and living life as a teenager in the summer (hanging out with one person semi-regularly, and doing weird family lunches), i start to notice that most times i leave the house, i’ll come back home with some pretty decent pain in assorted parts of my body.
like my back will hurt, which i just blame on my shit posture. but then it’ll be a weird muscle connected to my ankle or some shit when i am very well known for hating any and all sports except for hockey. which i don’t play.
so i’m not doing things to pull muscles, but i’m feeling twinges of pain kind of a lot. which sucks.
but i brush it off, now consciously keeping an eye on it and taking ibuprofen when needed.
pain levels steadily rise over time, but it’s still at about a 4/10 for the most part. there’s the occasional spike to a 6, but that’s not frequent.
keep going on to mid-july. every time i leave the house, i’m feeling dull ache/twinges in multiple places and my knees feel really fucking off a lot of the time. almost like if your knees were crooked or something?? idk.
but it’s still 5.5 on the worst day. so i just kinda hesitantly mention this to my mom. who’s used to me complaining anyway, but i make it clear that it’s been going on for a while, and it feels like somethings wrong.
and she says “oh yeah we can think about seeing a doctor.”
and i just. okay! cool. fun. rad. sick. vague pain. that’s my favorite activity. i love everything about this.
but i just grit my teeth and bear it. still doing the ibuprofen thing when my ignore it and distract yourself strategy doesn’t work.
now, end of july. trucking along. i’m at least in mind discomfort pretty much all the time. sucks. hate it. i’m concerned.
go to the 31. i pull a crazy all-nighter because i have chemical imbalances in my brain and shit just happens. i stay up for like 44 hours. wild. i sit at my desk for a while, drawing and i notice “wow my left shoulder doesn’t feel that great. huh. i have been sitting here for a while.”
so i go do something else but it doesn’t feel fantastic. almost like a buzzing in parts of my back and my upper arm. on my left arm. i am right handed. don’t know what that’s about.
go to sleep sunday night, i wake up to it just being worse. (also i have some weird circulation problems because of genetics. just random shit. no pain whatsoever. just funky.)
like wtf that’s a 4 right as i’m waking up. what the actual fuck. don’t like that.
but i was raised catholic so none of us talk to each other. so i just joke about my body organizing a shitty coup d’état to a friend and chalk it up to a fucked up muscle. but it’s like kind of moving?? a bit?? weird as fuck. don’t like it. still dull pain, but certainly something that pops up into my conscious mind like 10 times a day.
i didn’t do anything would result in a pulled muscle (trust me. my school is really intense about theatre and show choir. hard core choreography in everything that i practice 3 times a week during school+whatever play/musical) so i’m really just making excuses to soothe my brain and i know it. full denial.
i took ibuprofen the first and second day. can still tell it’s happening, but it sucks less.
yesterday i play a shit ton of guitar, and i can feel my upper arm cramping up and shit (which. oW. 5.7/10. WHAT THE HELL.) even though there is no strain on my left arm except for pressing my fingertips into some strings. no shoulder shit going on.
so i try to stretch out. no help.
and then the adhd medication instead of sleeping medication debacle happens and i don’t go to bed even though i actively tried to multiple times. i write a poem instead.
hurts mildly the whole time. it starts kind of limiting the functions of my arm. which. what the actual fuck. stiff, a bit seized up in especially bad pain moments.
i get focused on writing a poem and shit i only 20 minutes to get ready to leave for my appointment.
i forgot to take any ibuprofen, and it was already reaching 5.85 levels from sitting in my room.
in the car and in the orthodontist office, my left arm is completely fucking useless to me. half of my brain at all times is focused on like “oW OW OW OW OW” because it’s reached a point where i can’t really ignore it. it’s just there now. moving it isn’t great, it sitting in place isn’t fun either.
i’m at 6.5 levels. from the round trip of like 20-ish minutes, it’s raised that much. a lot of internal dialogue about it.
on the way to the orthodontist, i’m talking to my mom about it. she, sounding kind of annoyed, asks “what, do you want to see a doctor?”. i say “honestly? yes. it’s been 3 days nonstop. steady rise. there’s something genuinely wrong. i’m concerned about it.”
it feels like someone is poking around inside my arm with electricity or some shit. whole arm. shifting localizations and slight fluctuation in pain level. rapid escalation even just today.
i explain what it feels like in less wordy terms. and she says “that’s sounds like it could be nerve-related.”
it’s been three days. i’m exhausted. this has already taken a pretty significant mental toll, let alone discomfort level.
i have a high pain tolerance. i only started actively complaining about appendicitis pain the night before it exploded. that shit festers longer than overnight. i had been i pain for half the week before i said shit. and i just kinda sucked it up until i felt like i couldn’t walk without needing hella support.
but it’s really fucking getting to me. shit ton of weird tension, buzzing. just. constant painful buzz moving around.
i express this. “it’s a non-stop pain bad enough to be something i am fully aware of at any given second. if i stare off, im probably thinking about my arm.” and she kinda dismisses it.
it’s been like an hour, and i’ve gone up to 6.8 levels multiple times. based on patterns, it’s not just gonna stop any time soon, and i’m really good at working around weird problems like this.
like i said. pain every time i go out.
i’m good at hiding when i’m not 100%, but this is beyond me. it’s like someone’s just stabbing me with tacs over and over again. on my entire left arm and on the rare occasion, part of my leg.
i’m so genuinely uncomfortable, and i would this to not be a thing anymore.
#long post#uh. help?#oW OW OW#ITS LIKE SOMEONE IS PLAYINH FUCKING OPERSTION ON ME#sorry this is so gigantic#rip my arm ig??#i’m already disabled my body doesn’t need to betray me like this#bitch tried to kill me once already and failed so it’s back and trying again and iT SO MUCH FUCKINB WORSE THAN THE FIRST TIME#HHHHH

[5e] 9th-Level Spells
You may be wondering why I’m starting my review of 5e spells with the highest level spells available. That’s simple: you only get one.
The 5e Sorcerer table isn’t quite like the 3.x one, but it is like the 3.5 Warlock and Psion: at any given level, you can known X spells and have Y spell level as your maximum. The table is elegant, but you have to know to level your character from first level rather than reading the table straight across if you’re making a higher level character. (I’ve made this mistake many a time. It’s why I dislike this sort of table: it looks nice but isn’t actually helpful.)
If you’re trying to have as many spells of the highest available spell level as possible, you would have from 0th to 9th 6/3/2/2/2/2/1/1/1/1. I find it easier to work backwards in this case, as you can say “I want to reserve X spells known for higher-level spells” and then figure out how many low-level ones you can have instead of getting to a higher level and running into a corner.
The question with 9th-level spells is not “what’s good?” because they’re all good. Rather, it’s “what’s worth taking as my single most powerful class feature?” That should narrow things down a lot.
Primary List
gate · mass polymorph · meteor swarm · power word kill · psychic scream · time stop · wish
I’ve written about wish and time stop ZA WARUDO! (time crunchy noises), but not in the context of 5e. Wish has changed substantially; time stop hasn’t. You have a few options, but the majority of them are boom-boom.
Gate: you can hold open an interplanar portal for as long as you concentrate (up to a minute) at the cost of a 5,000 gp diamond; if you know the name of a specific creature, you can use the spell to summon that creature. For some odd reason, gate is both the most Warlock spell in the game besides planar binding, yet is only a Warlock spell through a UA variant. For a Sorcerer, this could be useful, but you’re making your best spell cost you money every time you cast it. Strategically speaking, this spell is situational enough (read: a Wizard spell) that if you wanted it in the first place you should take it with the Ritual Caster feat, but for some reason this most obviously ritualistic spell isn’t a ritual. There are better uses for your spell known, but this is by no means a bad spell. Save for a scroll or something.
Mass Polymorph: you polymorph (Wis negates) up to ten creatures you can see within 120 ft. for as long as you concentrate (up to one hour), just like with polymorph. It incorporates animal shapes into it. If you want animal shapes, you should find a way of getting it instead: you don’t need a 9th-level spell slot for it (so can cast it more often -- 8th + 9th level spell slots), it lasts for 24 hours, and you can affect more creatures (30 ft. area = radius = 96 squares - the one you’re in = 95 Medium creatures [more if they’re smaller and squeezing together]). I don’t care for the concentration aspect of the 5e polymorph spells. I mean, I get the rationale, I just find it odd for this particular spell -- and I’d rather not give my opponent a tactical reason to target me. Pass.
Meteor Swarm: four fireballs fall from the sky and each deal 20d6 fire + 20d6 bludgeoning (Dex half; average 140 damage), setting everything they touch ablaze. Beautiful. I love meteor-style spells, so this is high on my list even though it’s a boom-boom spell and I’m not particularly boom-boom oriented. The best part of this is that it has a range of one mile, so you can destroy enemy armies without risking getting killed! Yay! Yes.
Power Word Kill: one creature within 60 ft. of 100 HP or less drops dead (no save). 100 HP is more than the average of many high-level characters, so unless the DM gave a boss max HP you can use this to kill even major opponents reliably. An optimizer will tell you that a spell without a save is something you should always take -- and would be correct insofar as it makes you more difficult to stop. I, however, dislike that mechanic: there’s almost no reason a spell shouldn’t have a save. This one should have the choice of Wis (resisting the mental influence) and Con (staying alive despite the heart attack/stroke/whatever). A very good spell, but I’d call it OP.
Psychic Scream: 10 creatures of Int 3+ within 90 ft. take 14d6 psychic damage and are stunned (Int half [damage]/negates [stunning]); their heads explode if they die. The beauty of this one is that it goes off of Int rather than Wis (meaning Wizards are the only targets you really need to worry about) and it automatically avoids friendly fire. Yes.
Time Stop ZA WARUDO!: you get 1d4 + 1 rounds to act, but the spell ends if anything you do (including effects you create) affect other creatures or objects someone else is wearing or carrying or you move more than 1,000 ft. from where you cast the spell. The main purpose of this spell is to buff yourself a lot, run the fuck away, or stack delayed blast fireballs to deal a buttload of damage. That’s all very nice, but it’s a continuation of the 3.0 nerf to the spell: in 2nd ed, you could pull a DIO and attack people or an Over the Hedge and steal things. Now for my main quibble. 3.5′s Player’s Handbook II had the celerity line of spells, which you could cast as an immediate action (choice of reaction or bonus action). Each one dazed (incapacitated) you afterward, but gave you an extra move (lesser), action (no prefix), or round (greater) to do with as you pleased. I’m willing to guess that there are similar spells in 5e. In 3.5, there were ways of becoming immune to dazing; maybe there’s a 5e-compatible build for that. Either way, as a 9th-level spell, I should get to throw knives at people to my heart’s content before dropping heavy objects (like steam road rollers) on them. Good, but I’m going to go to my grave complaining about the restrictions.
Wish: you can do practically anything, but you have a one in three chance of losing your ability to cast your highest-level spell. IT’S A TRAP!
For very personal reasons, I’m torn between meteor swarm and time stop, but psychic scream is also up there. I think power word kill is unfair, but I cannot say that it’s a bad spell. I don’t like mass polymorph, but I think that’s more me not liking how 5e deals with durations. Wish is too big of a risk for a Sorcerer: you have the chance of losing the most powerful class feature you get and have nothing else that can compensate for that loss (unlike a Wizard); it’s better as a scroll. Gate really should be a ritual, but it isn’t, and it’s expensive, so it really depends on how badly you need to move lots and lots of creatures or summon forth an Elder God.
Divine Soul (Cleric) List
astral projection · gate · mass heal · true resurrection
I’ve already covered gate, thankfully.
Astral Projection: exactly what it says on the tin for you and eight willing creatures. I have never understood why this spell is so high-level. Mechanically, it’s riskier and more expensive than casting plane shift, which is two levels lower. Thematically, it’s a mass version of an effect which in folklore is almost always caster-only, which makes no sense, and it’s at max-level when this is fairly standard practice for shaman and shaman-like figures. (Heck, that’s what a bunch of the associated drug culture is about!) Maybe someone can explain to me why you would want to use this spell. Pass.
Mass Heal: heal 700 HP divided as you choose among any number of creatures (except constructs and undead) you can see within 60 ft.; also cures them of all diseases, blindness, and deafness. On the one hand, this seems like a great spell with a raid or during a cataclysm. On the other, you can accomplish everything this does with lower-level spells. Pretty good, but maybe hold out for...
True Resurrection: a creature you touch (or whose name you speak) is restored to life and perfect health (no wounds, no missing limbs, cured of all diseases and poisons, freed from any curses), even if there are no remains, provided the creature has been dead for no longer than 200 years and is free/willing to return. PICK THIS ONE!
Variant List (UA)
Foresight: for eight hours, a creature you touch can’t be surprised, gets advantage on most d20 checks, and causes all creatures attacking it to roll with disadvantage. This is better than the 3.5 version, which was already very good. Yes, this. Very.
Really Cool Spells It’d Be Great to Take If You Could
Or me lamenting about the limitations of the Sorcerer list
imprisonment · invulnerability · power word heal · prismatic wall · ravenous void · shapechange · storm of vengeance · time ravage · true polymorph · weird
Imprisonment: you know any of those fairy tale/folklore/mythology spells that trap someone for, like, ever? This is it. (Combines the spell of the same name, maze, and binding from 3.5.) You’ve got options if you want to seal someone away -- and it lasts until you say otherwise. Sure, it’d be nice if it were a ritual, but it ain’t; you just gotta take a minute to cast it (and throw in 500 gp. of material per HD of the target).
Invulnerability: you are immune to damage for up to 10 minutes (at the cost of “a piece of adamantine” [in D&D, that’s closer to depleted uranium than it is to diamond] of 500+ gp.). Maybe you don’t like the cost for a spell of that level, but hey, invulnerability.
Power Word Heal: target (non-construct, non-undead) regains all HP; has the charmed, frightened, paralyzed, and stunned conditions removed; and can stand up as a reaction if prone. This is a Bard spell, but it’s on the Cleric and Druid variant lists, so probably is an option for Divine Souls. I can see it being handy, but you’d think mass heal would be a better choice.
Prismatic Wall: you conjure up a rainbow wall/sphere (as prismatic spray) that’s a bitch to get rid of. You want an abjuration? This is it.
Ravenous Void: a miniature black hole that needs some errata (how many spaces do creatures and objects getting sucked in move each round?). It’s ludicrously awesome, though.
Shapechange: other than true polymorph, this is what you want out of polymorphing magic.
Storm of Vengeance: let’s say you want all of the boom-boom of meteor swarm but are more meteorologically focused. Here’s your answer. You end up dealing an average of 49 damage (of three elemental types and bludgeoning) to each creature below a storm cloud (360 ft. radius) you conjure within sight. There’s an arbitrary distance beneath the cloud included, as it doesn’t say how far up the cloud has to be.
Time Ravage: you decrepify someone with timey-wimey magic -- but it’s somehow necromancy!
True Polymorph: you can transform almost anything into almost anything else. The limits on this spell are basically to keep you from thinking you’re a literal god and overall I’d think this would work better in a skill-based magic system, but nonetheless it’s quite clearly the best polymorphing spell in the game.
Weird: this is mass phantasmal killer. It’s directly comparable to psychic scream -- Illusion rather than Enchantment, fear rather than stunning, and more potential targets in a smaller burst instead of headsplosions.

Before Game of Thrones and the newest Star Wars films, flights to Iceland only left from Denver, Washington DC, Baltimore, or New York. When I learned that the voyage embarks from Port of Hamburg, I figured I’d be flying into Berlin. And after years of watching closely for new United States destinations between the two main Icelandic airlines, this made my heart sing knowing full well St. Louis had recently become a Wow Air destination with cheap flights to many European cities, and of course... stopovers in Iceland on the way.
I won’t go much into how long I had anticipated this experience, however I will say it was a painful wait. First it was celebrities one by one slowly making their way as it grew appealing to more and more travelers suddenly during my freshman year of college and onward. Then it was friends who happened to have stopovers, who could afford it before me, or who were nearer to new departure cities before me... In those ways it was thrilling to feel inches and inches closer all these years. I even had a whole trip planned once to visit Iceland by myself to celebrate the New Year and hang out a week before and after. For a plethora of important reasons I had to cancel that trip, which to this day I still stand behind. So sadly, the most suitable and affordable window of time I had to work with to be in Iceland this time around was twenty hours, since it was a stopover, but a solid twenty hours we spent. An old friend used to joke all the time, “what if you go and absolutely hate it?” which was a possibility I have weighed heavily, even after countless hours over the years reading entire wikipedia pages of tiny, unpronounceable coastal villages with their black sands and fjords, delving into Vimeo videos of Icelandic scenery, and my favorite, the man in a lopapeysa sweater teaching you how to knit. I knew damn well I’d have to come back after such a short time even if it did turn out not so ideal. But after a seven year wait, I am happy to announce that it truly was everything I could have hoped for and even so much more. Maybe because I already knew where to look, or at least where I wanted to look, or maybe it really was calling me all this time.
I was taught a German expression today "Knapp daneben ist auch vorbei” which means, “coming close is the same as missing it.” It’s been circling my mind like an echo of congratulations from the void for just finally being able to do the damn thing.
It is now late into Thursday, our second day in Berlin. Yesterday was spent locating our Airbnb, experiencing jetlag, showering, etc... completely pretty much rebirthing ourselves after twenty hours with none of the checked luggage I truly thought the Keflavik airport would let me access during that amount of time.
I can’t exit this post though without telling a couple of the stories from those hours (and some pictures!) It was by far the most eventful twenty hours of my life...
As soon as we landed, it was time to grab the rental car. I picked out a lovely whatever the car was. At first the reservation said manual shift, which was exciting because I learned to drive on a manual but also I knew the Icelandic roads would be more vulnerable to drivers so I wasn’t sure how revisiting a skill like that there would go. Luckily we ended up with an automatic somehow anyway. Since the Wow air flights are so cheap, they get off by charging passengers for every other thing including meals, so I had not eaten since Missouri by this point (mainly because I wanted to sleep). I felt weak and tired at the rental counter so I asked my friend Alicia to get me something at the cafe nearby. She came back with the first food we were to behold: a caprese panini, but instead of panini bread, it was the body of Christ or something. I apologize to anyone that offends--I mean it in the sense that it was cracker bread meant specifically for religious purposes and not to feed a malnourished traveler. Don’t get me wrong, it tasted good, however the depth of my ketosis and the richness of the pesto was too much. Literally as I stood at the counter facing my first ever Icelandic stranger and transaction, I felt the sudden urge to vomit and ran to the nearest trashcan while Alicia had to sign everything for me in a VERY crowded airport. I don’t think any of us knew how to react honestly, though the woman at the counter was very sweet and brought us bottled waters after seeing my pale sweaty face, despite not totally knowing how to ask if I was okay in English.
Getting to Þingvellir was not an issue, however the drive there involved more of the previous situation sadly. While the girls caught up on sleep, I found our way out of Keflavik onto the highway and quickly back off of it after having tried a couple more bites of the Jesus panini. The first time around I wasn’t entirely sure if it was that was what made me ill or just all of the conditions at once. This time I knew it was that. There was nowhere to even pull over as all of the road space in Iceland is very carefully planned, with roundabouts every few blocks and signs placed not too often or too scarcely. So I stopped in the middle of the road out of sheer desperation -- one of the few very crucial things I had JUST been told you’re not supposed to do with an Icelandic car. I had already begun out the window as I drove simply because my mind was already racing for options. What is the best way here - puking on myself and cleaning that up? No - my luggage I thought I could have today is on its way to Germany. Puking solely into the car? Hell to the no - I don’t care if I bought the insurance, we have the whole route ahead of us and back. Okay well in the time it took to ask myself those questions, all of the above happened anyway. Everywhere. Alicia and Morgan immediately woke up of course and without judgment scrambled into their things for a new shirt and pants for me, helped me clean the car, et cetera, alllllll while locals were angrily and confusedly passing me on this tiny exit I had chosen under the impression it was low-trafficked. Did I mention I chose not to wear underwear on this day of all days? Yes. In my first hour in Iceland I was forced to change BUTT NAKED pretty much on the side of the highway. Needless to say, we threw the Jesus panini away as if it was the one ring to rule them all.
Þingvellir was breathtaking. Every little plant, moss, lichen, dewdrop was so quietly and calmly welcoming. The wall of boxy-looking rocks you may have seen in Games of Thrones was to the left of this photo, with its waterfalls and all. It was confusing finding the dive spot where our snorkel tour was, but once we arrived all of our sorrows were gone. First we met Luis, a cheery Mexican from Cancun, then Manuel the French man who helped us into our dry suits, and then Juan from Madrid was our guide through the crevice of the opening between the Eurasian and North American tectonic plates.
The moment I entered the water my heartbeat changed for good, not just because of the chilling 2*C temperature, but because it was then I realized I was really, really there. Until that moment, it was all a dream. Simply putting my mask down to see what was below... I still cannot find the words. Our suits were designed to keep us warm, so the crystal clear stream swept us and this rad Australian couple in our group gently along the divide as if it were a lazy river. Silfra is the only spot on Earth where one can touch two plates at once, and I cannot emphasize enough that the land itself gives you that vibe alone, whether you do the tours or not. For as long as I live I don’t think I could forget how it felt to lay completely still on top of the water looking down, like just another little seagull feather or algae, feeling one with the whole damn country.
Finally.
After a pit stop at a petrol station for edible food and something to make the car smell better, we rerouted from planning a drive all the way to Vik (3.5 hrs there and back) to just spending the time comfortably in Reykjavik where we could get back to the airport by 3am, when the rental was due, and for our flight at 6am.
Downtown was as quaint and beautiful as I had imagined, though of course a completely different layout than what I originally pictured. This happened in New Mexico too when I moved there after a year of picturing the places where my friends’ stories from their phone calls were playing out. We found a cute bar to meet locals in called the Smokin’ Puffin, which turned out to have just opened three weeks prior. Made many friends, including Moe the bartender/plant geneticist from Iran, and Joanne, a bubbly expat from the UK.
Hallgrimskirkja and the walk to it however was the crowning jewel of the evening, with apartment windows all open, most of them displaying cute decorations and cats and succulents of all colors and sizes peering out.
I knew it was a rather large church, I suppose I was not prepared for just how large. Walking past the infamous Leifur Eriksson statue to approach the entrance with its tiered architecture and powerfully rhetorical lighting, I lost my breath again. It was a bittersweet goodbye, though I am nearly grateful we did not stay overnight so I couldn’t get too attached to Iceland’s physical presence.
Was honestly just taking a photo of this sweet cat, and realized its owner was behind him drawing. I almost cried.
Moe’s specialty cocktail: coffee martini :)
Me in my very attractive after-puke outfit with this handsome Iranian plant geneticist bartender who was really sweet to me anyway.

Time to Act: Review Responses Just Evolved from "Extra" to "Expected"
Posted by MiriamEllis
I’ve advocated the use of Google’s owner response review feature since it first rolled out in 2010. This vital vehicle defends brand reputation and revenue, offering companies a means of transforming dissatisfied consumers into satisfied ones, supporting retention so that less has to be spent on new customer acquisition. I consider review responses to be a core customer service responsibility. Yet, eight years into the existence of this feature, marketing forums are still filled with entry-level questions like:
Should I respond to reviews?
Should I respond to positive reviews?
How should I respond to negative reviews?
Over the years, I’ve seen different local SEO consultants reply in differing degrees to these common threads, but as of May 11, 2018, both agencies and brands woke to a new day: the day on which Google announced it would be emailing notifications like this to consumers when a business responds to their reviews, prompting them to view the reply.
Surveys indicate that well over 50% of consumers already expect responses within days of reviewing a business. With Google’s rollout, we can assume that this numbers is about to rise.
Why is this noteworthy news? I’ll explain exactly that in this post, plus demo how Moz Local can be a significant help to owners and marketers in succeeding in this new environment.
When "extra" becomes "expected"
In the past, owner responses may have felt like something extra a business could do to improve management of its reputation. Perhaps a company you’re marketing has been making the effort to respond to negative reviews, at the very least, but you’ve let replying to positive reviews slide. Or maybe you respond to reviews when you can get around to it, with days or weeks transpiring between consumer feedback and brand reaction.
Google’s announcement is important for two key reasons:
1) It signals that Google is turning reviews into a truly interactive feature, in keeping with so much else they’ve rolled out to the Knowledge Panel in recent times. Like booking buttons and Google Questions & Answers, notifications of owner responses are Google’s latest step towards making Knowledge Panels transactional platforms instead of static data entities. Every new feature brings us that much closer to Google positioning itself between providers and patrons for as many transactional moments as possible.
2) It signals a major turning point in consumer expectations. In the past, reviewers have left responses from motives of “having their say,” whether that’s to praise a business, warn fellow consumers, or simply document their experiences.
Now, imagine a patron who writes a negative review of two different restaurants he dined at for Sunday lunch and dinner. On Monday, he opens his email to find a Google notification that Restaurant A has left an owner response sincerely apologizing and reasonably explaining why service was unusually slow that weekend, but that Restaurant B is meeting his complaint about a rude waiter with dead air.
“So, Restaurant A cares about me, and Restaurant B couldn’t care less,” the consumer is left to conclude, creating an emotional memory that could inform whether he’s ever willing to give either business a second chance in the future.
Just one experience of receiving an owner response notification will set the rules of the game from here on out, making all future businesses that fail to respond seem inaccessible, neglectful, and even uncaring. It’s the difference between reviewers narrating their experiences from random motives, and leaving feedback with the expectation of being heard and answered.
I will go so far as to predict that Google’s announcement ups the game for all review platforms, because it will make owner responses to consumer sentiment an expected, rather than extra, effort.
The burden is on brands
Because no intelligent business would believe it can succeed in modern commerce while appearing unreachable or unconcerned, Google’s announcement calls for a priority shift. For brands large and small, it may not be an easy one, but it should look something like this:
Negative reviews are now direct cries for help to our business; we will respond with whatever help we can give within X number of hours or days upon receipt
Positive reviews are now thank-you notes directly to our company; we will respond with gratitude within X number of hours or days upon receipt
Defining X is going to have to depend on the resources of your organization, but in an environment in which consumers expect your reply, the task of responding must now be moved from the back burner to a hotter spot on the stovetop. Statistics differ in past assessments of consumer expectations of response times:
In 2016, GetFiveStars found that 15.6% of consumers expected a reply with 1–3 hours, and 68.3% expected a reply within 1–3 days of leaving a review.
In 2017, RevLocal found that 52% of consumers expected responses within 7 days.
Overall, 30% of survey respondents told BrightLocal in 2017 that owner responses were a factor they looked at in judging a business.
My own expectation is that all of these numbers will now rise as a result of Google’s new function, meaning that the safest bet will be the fastest possible response. If resources are limited, I recommend prioritizing negative sentiment, aiming for a reply within hours rather than days as the best hope of winning back a customer. “Thank yous” for positive sentiment can likely wait for a couple of days, if absolutely necessary.
It’s inspiring to know that a recent Location3 study found that brands which do a good job of responding to reviews saw an average conversion rate of 13.9%, versus lackluster responders whose conversion rate was 10.4%. Depending on what you sell, those 3.5 points could be financially significant! But it’s not always easy to be optimally responsive.
If your business is small, accelerating response times can feel like a burden because of lack of people resources. If your business is a large, multi-location enterprise, the burden may lie in organizing awareness of hundreds of incoming reviews in a day, as well as keeping track of which reviews have been responded to and which haven’t.
The good news is…
Moz Local can help
The screenshot, above, is taken from the Moz Local dashboard. If you’re a customer, just log into your Moz Local account and go to your review section. From the “sources” section, choose “Google” — you’ll see the option to filter your reviews by “replied” and “not replied.” You’ll instantly be able to see which reviews you haven’t yet responded to. From there, simply use the in-dashboard feature that enables you to respond to your (or your clients’) reviews, without having to head over to your GMB dashboard or log into a variety of different clients’ GMB dashboards. So easy!
I highly recommend that all our awesome customers do this today and be sure you’ve responded to all of your most recent reviews. And, in the future, if you’re working your way through a stack of new, incoming Google reviews, this function should make it a great deal easier to keep organized about which ones you’ve checked off and which ones are still awaiting your response. I sincerely hope this function makes your work more efficient!
Need some help setting the right review response tone?
Please check out Mastering the Owner Response to the Quintet of Google My Business Reviews, which I published in 2016 to advocate responsiveness. It will walk you through these typical types of reviews you’ll be receiving:
“I love you!”
“I haven’t made up my mind yet.”
“There was hair in my taco...”
“I’m actually your competitor!”
“I’m citing illegal stuff.”
The one update I’d make to the advice in the above piece, given Google’s rollout of the new notification function, would be to increase the number of positive reviews to which you’re responding. In 2016, I suggested that enterprises managing hundreds of locations should aim to express gratitude for at least 10% of favorable reviews. In 2018, I’d say reply with thanks to as many of these as you possibly can. Why? Because reviews are now becoming more transactional than ever, and if a customer says, “I like you,” it’s only polite to say, “Thanks!”. As more customers begin to expect responsiveness, failure to acknowledge praise could feel uncaring.
I would also suggest that responses to negative reviews more strongly feature a plea to the customer to contact the business so that things can be “made right.” GetFiveStars co-founder, Mike Blumenthal, is hoping that Google might one day create a private channel for brands and consumers to resolve complaints, but until that happens, definitely keep in mind that:
The new email alerts will ensure that more customers realize you’ve responded to their negative sentiment.
If, while “making things right” in the public response, you also urge the unhappy customer to let you make things “more right” in person, you will enhance your chances of retaining him.
If you are able to publicly or privately resolve a complaint, the customer may feel inspired to amend his review and raise your star rating; over time, more customers doing this could significantly improve your conversions and, possibly, your local search rankings.
All potential customers who see your active responses to complaints will understand that your policies are consumer-friendly, which should increase the likelihood of them choosing your business for transactions.
Looking ahead
One of the most interesting aspects I’m considering as of the rollout of response notifications is whether it may ultimately impact the tone of reviews themselves. In the past, some reviewers have given way to excesses in their sentiment, writing about companies in the ugliest possible language… language I’ve always wanted to hope they wouldn’t use face-to-face with other human beings at the place of business. I’m wondering now if knowing there’s a very good chance that brands responding to feedback could lessen the instances of consumers taking wild, often anonymous potshots at brands and create a more real-world, conversational environment.
In other words, instead of: “You overcharged me $3 for a soda and I know it’s because you’re [expletive] scammers, liars, crooks!!! Everyone beware of this company!!!”
We might see: “Hey guys, I just noticed a $3 overcharge on my receipt. I’m not too happy about this.”
The former scenario is honestly embarrassing. Trying to make someone feel better when they’ve just called you a thief feels a bit ridiculous and depressing. But the latter scenario is, at least, situation-appropriate instead of blown out of all proportion, creating an opening for you and your company to respond well and foster loyalty.
I can’t guarantee that reviewers will tone it down a bit if they feel more certain of being heard, but I’m hoping it will go that way in more and more cases.
What do you think? How will Google’s new function impact the businesses you market and the reviewers you serve? Please share your take and your tips with our community!

Saturday
Yesterday I was looking at the map and I decided I wanted to bike to Pescadero. Two reasons for this: I wanted bread. Also, I wanted to test my gearing and setup.
Before COVID blew up, I was planning to bikecamp to LA this year for bike anniversary (mid-May; it’s flex.), and get ice cream (bike anniversary always calls for an ice cream ride) at McConnell’s in Santa Barbara on the way, and visit my OG bicycle mentor Muneeb. SF to LA is a mandatory ride that many people I know, some of whom are not even that into cycling, have done. Also I was inspired by Matt Reyes doing the ride in 6 days on 47x17 and 47x19. (I know my strength and I would do it on a lower gear.) But now that dream is dead.
Gear setup: - gangster with 47x19, wide bars - I put a patch kit and CO2 kit in a tiny seatpost bag. - I used my Tunitas bum bag to hold my water bottle, a battery pack with iPhone cable, wallet, an old tube for bungee in case I needed to tie something to my bike, a strap from Box Dog Bikes (similar purpose), a sharpie (to deface things), and my phone while I was riding. - I wore some Rapha bib shorts that Ariel gave me (thank you forever Ariel) plus a Montiel sports bra, and my Underarmour hoodie. I don’t bother with jersey anymore. Fuck it. I want the all-over tan. Also wore some Spoke Easy socks which I really like, Heavy Pedal gloves, and my Adidas running shoes which I got many years ago from the boys youth section.
Pre-ride: - Moisturizer, sunscreen, kale salad with meal-prepped beans and corn and bell pepper and three flour tortillas I fried lightly and melted horseradish cheese (yo I love this horseradish cheese) on. - Light stretching in my lobby, then roll out at 7:57 according to Strava
didn’t take many photos
Ride: Strava - By now I know the deal to get onto Highway 1. Slightly difficult Skyline bit that is between Fort Funston and Olympic Club, and then slightly more difficult two block stretch that goes from Valero gas station to the water tower thing. Then the terrifying (I hate descents, ok) descent on which I have to make a left on Crenshaw and get on Palmetto, which I always overshoot because I’m busy being terrified. This time I paid attention. I wasn’t terrified. Because I got my skids back and spinny ratio makes me feel invincible. - After this I went through Pacifica, then fixiecoasted down into Pacifica State Beach, then up that narrow winding bit to Devil’s Slide. - During the tunnel my music cut out so I just turned off my headphones and talked to myself the rest of the way. Flats are good for unwinding. - Then Half Moon Bay, then those three climbs that I did with not too much difficulty. Did some more fixiecoasting down the backs of those climbs. Passed by a fair number of cyclists going the other way and waved at them. - Got to Pescadero an hour ahead of schedule and thus bread was not open. Did not want to wait around so I just refilled my water bottle (ugh the water tasted like metal) and turned back around. - Climbs going back were not so bad. One in particular was a bit long, and the ground texture was bumpy. Descents were nice because I fixiecoasted them, plus I reveled.in the fact that I had climbed that same stretch just hours prior. Good job, self. Pat on the back for you. Got really comfortable with fixiecoasting (footbrake at the ready but rarely used). (Not a super useful skill but it is fun.) - I read that people don’t recommend LA to SF because it isn’t as enjoyable to ride on the inside of Highway 1. I would just like to say I disagree with this. I thought it was equally enjoyable. I liked looking at the plants. HAHAHAH. I didn’t take any photos (duh, I was busy riding) but there was a fabulous display of different lupines and Erigeron glaucus and I even saw a Sisrynchium bellum! I have never seen that in the wild. Also some Sambucus, some Eriophyllum, and some Castilleja. And a lot of poison oak. LOL. Thickets of it. Damn. Be careful y’all. - Seeing as I didn’t get any bread, I instead stopped at Dunkin Donuts in Half Moon Bay and picked up a few of my favorites. Then I ate 3.5 of the 4 donuts after realizing that I had no carrying capacity. I saved the remaining .5 for... - The last climb (and in my opinion, the only major climb), Skyline (the reverse of the descent that terrifies me). I misremembered it as four blocks. I think it is more. I lost count because I was focusing on 1) keeping my shoulders relaxed and 2) believing in myself. HAHAHAHA. Also I forgot to stop and eat the last half donut because I was so relieved the climb was over that I just kept going. - Made it the rest of the way home; super easy. Google Maps says it is like 47.5 miles each way, so I was trying to add some distance to make it an even 100 but my GPS messed up so I didn’t know how many miles I had gone. I think I only hit 98, but that’s fine. It was really annoying to try to add miles in the city because everyone was everywhere.
Post-ride: - Got home, showered, ate the same kale with beans and whatnot (that is all I eat these days), and the last .5 donut. Also drank a bunch of non-metallic water.
What I thought about on this ride: - This was a test ride, but it was also useful in being a means of catharsis for my life and the past week. I thought a lot about what I want out of my life, and who I want to be. I think that in life, my main objective is to feel capable. I know what I can do and what my limits are, and now I’m gonna try and push those limits a bit. Widen my comfort zone, little by little. It’s not about being comfortable with everything, so much as it is about knowing that I could reach a level of comfort with anything. So this ride is about me getting comfortable with the fact that I can do it. (...by doing it. HAHAHA) I’ve already done this ride, with Conrad last September, on Emily’s Bianchi. But I’ve not done it brakeless (btw first century on the gangster! yay little gangster), and I wanted to test my mental fortitude for if i were to ride to LA on this setup. Now i know the gearing is right (at least for this stretch), and I’ve also gained confidence, so that’s good. - During the three nontrivial climbs, I thought about 1) relaxing my shoulders, 2) all the people who love and support me and would be cheering me on at that moment, and 3) all the people (the same people) who inspire me to do this. Not just to ride, but to live life, and take advantage of that opportunity. I hope that I can return the favor and inspire them in the same way. I often source my motivation and power from anger, or self-flagellation, or other negative emotions. It’s not ineffective, but I am trying to make the shift towards more positive and self-empowering thinking. Also I made a mental list of powerful women that have influenced me and that I hold in high regard. Thank you for being my role models. (There are also powerful influential inspirational men in my life; thank you also, but I did not make a mental list of y’all during this ride.) - I biked past a lot of beauty (California, and Highway 1 especially, is known for that) and I thought about edges. In ecology, edges are the most productive in biodiversity and growth and resources. I think in life that is also true. When you have a collaboration between people, or a fusion between genres, that’s kinda like an edge. You get the best of both worlds, and something magical can thrive in that intersection. The result is greater than the sum of its parts. I look forward to one day being part of some sort of collab, once I have better defined myself and determined what I bring to the table. - What else did I think about: ummm. Mostly just loose/disorganized thoughts about life and people around me and work and how I can be more focused, and how things do get easier if you put in the work and the time, and how when I am biking I carry with me the people who support me, always. I hold you in my heart. lol.

A Wing and a Prayer - Chapter 7 (A Yondu fic)
A/N: There are some pretty strong sexual abuse themes in this chapter! Be warned! If you have a history of being abused, I recommend only reading to the first break.
Yondu/El (Yondu/OC)
Warnings: Sexual abuse
Chapter 1 Chapter 2 Chapter 3 Chapter 4 Chapter 5 Chapter 6
***
El sat, looking up at Taneleer. She could feel Yondu's blazing red eyes boring holes into her skull but she refused to look round. He didn't want El here? Fine. El wasn't here. Just a simple dog from Terra (albeit, a pale blue one). Even so, El couldn't help but feel slightly uneasy when Taneleer bent down and stared at her, intently. It was as though he could see her somehow, behind the dog's eyes.
“From Terra, you say?” he directed this at Yondu, although he never looked away from El.
“Right.” Yondu replied, shortly, gaze flicking between Taneleer and El.
“Hmm... peculiar. I've never seen a dog quite like this one. Such... odd colouration.” Taneleer purred with a slight smile.
Yondu felt his hackles rise. He sensed that Taneleer was playing with him and he didn't like it.
“She's a mixed breed.” Kraglin suddenly chimed in. Everyone looked at him, including El (who forgot, for a moment, that she wasn't meant to understand speech).
“S'right.” Yondu nodded, catching on. “A mix breed. Mongrel ya might say.” (El growled and was given a sharp nudge with Kraglin's boot) “She ain't worth nothin'.”
“Hm.” Was all Taneleer responded with as he turned away, his gaze lingering on El, and walked back to the table he'd started at, an imperious look on his face. “So what is it you wish to sell me?” he asked, his tone now seemed bored and uninterested as he turned around again and leant against his table. Yondu drew the separate pieces of the tech they'd found at the secret facility on Terra out of his pockets.
Taneleer's eyes were on them like a hawk on a rabbit. Nothing else about him changed. Not his stance, not his breathing, not his mouth. But his eyes were suddenly fixed and unblinking. It was almost eerie to look at.
El couldn't quite see what the tech was from down on the ground but she didn't feel like giving herself away by trying to see.
When Taneleer spoke, his voice was low and quiet.
“Do you know what that is, Yondu?” He asked.
“I know i's valuable.” Yondu answered, tactfully. The truth was that, no, he had no idea what this thing was. However, Yondu was thinking about the 3.5 million units. He wouldn't leave with any less than that in his pockets.
“It certainly is. I've heard of this through the grapevine but no-one seemed terribly sure where to start looking.” Taneleer said, quietly.
El still had no clue what it was and was getting annoyed. She sighed, noisily, earning her another nudge from Kraglin's boot.
“What is it?” Kraglin asked. Yondu shot him a look. Great. Now Taneleer knew they didn't know what they were selling.
Taneleer chuckled.
“It's a very powerful weapon. That's all you need to know. May I?” He extended a bejewelled hand. Yondu was hesitant as he didn't normally part with an item before he'd been paid, but he didn't want to annoy the Collector either. Then he might not get paid at all. After a second's deliberation, he held one of the halves out to Taneleer but kept the other in his hand.
Now El saw what Yondu was trying to sell... and she went nuts! Her hackles went up and she bared her teeth in a furious snarl. Everyone present looked around at her, none more furiously so than Yondu. But El didn't notice. She threw herself at Taneleer, barking and snapping and snarling like some demon hound from hell.
Tanaleer barely moved. He pointed his half of the tech at El as she advanced on him. There was a pulse of light and El was thrown backwards across the floor. No sooner had she slid to a halt than, with a swift, twisting motion, El was back the right way up again. Her ears flatten and she snarled again, eyes wild, whites on show as she stared at Taneleer with an almost insane fury.
“Ah, I see. You brought her here as a demonstration!” Taneleer smirked and beckoned to El, patronisingly, with a hand.
El took another run at him but was stopped, sharply, by a firm hand on the scruff of her neck. Still, she tried to reach Taneleer, pulling hard so her front feet left the ground and she was left on her hind legs, her head reaching forwards, snapping, teeth still bared.
“What yeh want done with her, Captain?” Said Skane's voice above her.
“Take 'er back teh the inn!” Yondu growled, staring at El. He was livid, his fury running through every line on his face, the side of his lip lifted in a snarl to match El's own. She'd pay for this!
Skane nodded and tugged El roughly so she had no choice but to follow. She turned her head to growl at those they left behind but was tugged again, urging her to walk out of Taneleer's museum.
*
El was thrown through the hefty, sliding metal door of some crummy inn. She landed on the metal floor of a room full of cold grey walls and a cold, grey, uncomfortable looking bed with black bedclothes. A red strip light was on but it did nothing for the cold atmosphere. Sure, there was a rug in here but there were inexplicable brown stains all over it. Oh, and rust. Lots of rust. Why was every bedroom El had encountered so far so rusty!?
El slunk across the floor to sit on the aforementioned rug, ears down, knowing she was in trouble. There was a flash and El sat, looking very dejected. Skane closed the door behind them both.
“Look, I know what you're going to say.” El muttered, from floor level, addressing the section of rug in front of her. “But your captain has no idea what he's trying to sell. Believe it or not, I was trying to save us all.”
Skane swaggered forwards, slowly, his feet heavy. He put his hands on his hips and gazed down at El where she sat, a grin on his face.
El looked up, shrouded in Skane's shadow.
“The Captain won't throw me out will he?” She asked, genuinely vulnerable for the first time. She'd only just found this crew, a place where she was allowed to live and work on (kind of) her own terms. Had she blown it in less that forty-eight hours? Sure, Yondu was grumpy and made very little sense to her, but that she could deal with for the sake of a bed and freedom to roam where she pleased.
Skane simply snorted as he looked at her. The look on his face was... pitying? Sympathetic? It was hard to tell from here. The light was behind him and his face was in shadow so El couldn't really tell. He crouched down so that he was on her level. He smiled.
El dared to hope that this meant she'd be forgiven and smiled back, tentatively.
Without warning, Skane's hand flashed out from his side and wrapped around her throat. El tried to cry out in shock but his grip was too tight. With one, strong move, Skane stood, lifting El with him and pushed her up against the inn room wall.
El's head struck the wall painfully and little stars popped in her vision for a few moments. She had to shape-shift! But the shock of it, mixed with how suddenly she felt trapped and helpless, meant there was no hope. The air wobbled, erratically, but when it stopped, El remained standing where she was, eyes wide and staring at Skane in terror. Adrenaline rushed through her body, a sort of primitive, physical back-up defence. She swiped at Skane with a clawed hand but he caught her wrist with a chuckle. She tried in vain to kick at him instead but the flight suits had reinforced sections and her efforts were fruitless.
Skane laughed, cruelly. He was a man of about fifty, El guessed. He was bearded, grizzled and, apparently, built like a brick shit-house! None of her struggling even made him wobble where he stood and, at 5'8”, El wasn't the smallest creature around.
“Kick yeh out, lass? No. But yeh didnae think yeh were getting' everythin' fer free now, did yeh? The Cap may let yeh stay feh free, but not me.”
El didn't understand. She'd been hired. Her work was her payment. And what did that have to do with attacking Taneleer?
“I'm paying... my way!” She choked against the pressure of Skane's hand.
“Fer the accommodation, maybeh. But yer paradin' around our ship naked. Et's not great fer the crew's focus. Know what um sayin'?”
El frowned. No. She had no idea what he was saying.
“Now yeh can't expect teh be doin' that without lettin' us have a little taste now, can yeh?” He leant forward to smell her short hair, leaning in so close that his nose brushed against the fine hairs at the nape of her neck. El recoiled in disgust, as best she could. He smelt of some kind of acrid smoke and B.O. and the feel of his breath on her neck made her skin crawl. Oh. Now she got it. “Keepin' such a lithe little body all teh yerself... a little selfish, dun yeh think?” He trailed a hand up her leg, breathing heavily against her neck.
A jolt went through El and she attempted to kick him again but Skane only chuckled. He continued to run his filthy hand over her. Fuck! She had to transform now! She had to! There was no other option! The air wobbled and, for a split second, Skane was holding a pale blue greyhound up against the wall, but a second later, El was back. Skane giggled.
“Aaaww.” He said, pouting patronisingly. “Not havin' too much luck wi' the old magic trick?”
El hissed at him, fangs bared. What the hell was she supposed to do!? This must be Skane's own room. Who the hell would look for her here? He was too strong to push off. She was too scared to transform. She really had no option but to let it happen. She shuddered a second... then went limp. Her eyes unfocussed, staring into a dimension only she seemed to be able to see.
Skane grinned. “That's more like et, lass.” He purred. Carefully, he pulled her away from the wall, never releasing his grip on her throat. El stepped with him in a trance. “Yeh jus' do as I say. There's a good lass.” He turned her and pushed her down so that she was lying down on his bed. El didn't react other than to stare, fixedly, through the ceiling.
Skane chuckled and finally released her, slowly.
El didn't move.
Skane brought a hand up to touch the first buckle on his flight suit.
El didn't even blink. Whatever. She'd been through worse.
And then a lot of things happened all at once. There was an almighty bang, Skane leapt backwards as though he'd been scalded, there was a whistle and Skane had a long, golden arrow with a red vapour trail hanging in the air an inch from his face.

Usually, in the very first week from the keto food plan folks see an exceedingly speedy drop in weight — between a couple of lbs . to about ten! That’s since at the outset, keto helps make The body launch a great deal of h2o pounds (not Body fat) owing towards your decreased carb consumption.
That is why that takes place:
Carbs need drinking water to remain in One's body. When Your system doesn’t use glucose promptly, it merchants it as glycogen as part of your muscles and glycogen binds to drinking water. Every single gram of glycogen is saved with two–3 g of h2o. [*]
If you initially swap to keto, Your entire body will melt away each of the glycogen reserves very first just before working with Unwanted fat. At the time it runs from glycogen, the h2o which was required to retail outlet it gets eliminated and that’s why the weight in your scale alterations so substantially.
While this isn’t Fats decline, it’s a sign that the human body is Doing the job its way into ketosis: Fats burning method.
This rapid h2o decline might also produce dehydration and constipation, so consume more water than you Generally do on a daily basis to keep items shifting.
Quick and Medium-Expression: Steadier Weight Loss (one-two kilos weekly)
After a 7 days or two, weight reduction will occur at a slower and even more steady speed. This really is also the stretch of time whenever you’re receiving fat-tailored as your body switches from burning carbs to burning fat, which implies you’ll in fact be shedding Unwanted fat now.
A secure, ordinary reduction from Here's close to 1-2 kilos (0.5-1 kg) per week.
Below’s what study states about weight loss within the ketogenic diet regime:
One particular study identified obese clients dropped thirteen.6 kg (30 kilos) right after 2 months within the keto diet program and over 88% of patients lost more than ten% of their initial bodyweight by the top of your research, although lean mass was nearly unaffected.[*] That’s 3.5 kilos each week.
A review observed that obese clients weighing one zero one kg dropped 10 kg (22 lbs) following eight months. They misplaced an additional 2 kg (four.four kilos) by week sixteen and three more kilograms (6.6 lbs .) by 7 days 24. In here complete, they lost fifteen kg (33 pounds) in 5.5 months.[*] That’s one.3 kilos every week.
how fast will i eliminate fat on keto
One particular analyze on volunteers with being overweight and sort two diabetes who weighed 108 kg dropped 11.1 kg (24.five pounds) in 24 weeks.[*] That’s 1 pound a week.
One analyze identified 120 overweight hyperlipidemic patients misplaced nine.4 kg (20.seven kilos) of Body fat mass in 24 weeks. [*] That’s 0.eight kilos a week.
A person meta Examination that took knowledge from 13 studies observed people regularly dropped far more pounds over the ketogenic than on the very low Fats diet regime.[*]
As you can see, fat loss varies depending on how long you’re around the keto eating plan, how much weight you’ve received to lose, as well as your health problem. Persons seem to drop one of the most Extra fat on the 1st two-3 months on the keto diet plan, although weight reduction is sustained for so long as folks follow the eating plan.
Extensive-expression: Slower Weight-loss
As you get closer on your target fat, weight-loss slows down. It's because as your fat decreases, your whole daily caloric desires lessen too. So, even if you carry on with a deficit of energy to get rid of body weight, it will now create a smaller difference.
You could have some months where It appears you haven’t dropped something, Then you definately’ll weigh per week or two later on and become down three-4 pounds. The real key is usually to keep on with it instead of get discouraged; just make sure you’re still in ketosis and give your body time and energy to do its matter.
One particular study located that immediately after one particular yr on the keto diet regime, Guys and girls between thirty-sixty nine several years who weighed involving ninety-100 kg missing a complete of 14 kg (30.eight pounds).[*]
Having said that, a lot of that weight was dropped during the early levels of keto. They…
Lost 7 kg (15 pounds) after 4 months.
Lost One more 5 kg (eleven lbs) between weeks 4 and 12.
Didn’t experience big adjustments changes from 12 months to 12 months (barely 1-two kg).
This suggests the keto food plan is powerful for speedy and sustained Unwanted fat decline. You will see the greatest modifications for those who keep on with it for your several months, and you received’t attain the load back again.
Prevalent KETO WEIGHT LOSS PITFALLS
If you really feel such as you are going through a fat reduction plateau immediately after sticking With all the keto diet for just a couple months, there could be practices or foods hindering your development. Down below are frequent fat reduction issues and how to proceed about them:
Slip-up #one: Not Becoming In Ketosis
This 1 may possibly seem obvious, however it’s quite popular that individuals come out of ketosis without realizing it whenever they quit monitoring their ketone ranges. So, amongst the most important reasons people don’t see fat reduction outcomes on keto is that they’re not basically on keto.
What to do:
Don’t quit monitoring your ketones whenever you’re wanting to reduce bodyweight. A wonderful strategy to maintain your ketone concentrations up is using exogenous ketones. Just place a scoop in your preferred consume to acquire back again into ketosis — it’s uncomplicated and delightful.

Game 316: Caverns of Mordia (1980)
Caverns of Mordia
Australia
Lothlorien Farming (developer and publisher)
Date Started: 4 January 2019
Date Ended: 13 January 2019
Total Hours: 8
Difficulty: Moderate-Hard (3.5/5)
Final Rating: (to come later)
Ranking at Time of Posting: (to come later)
Caverns of Mordia is a recently-rediscovered entry in what we might call the “establishing age” of CRPGs–that brief period between 1975 and 1983 (even briefer, between 1978 and 1983, for the microcomputer), when developers repeatedly asked themselves how best to adapt the qualities of tabletop role-playing to the computer. By 1983, it was clear that the approaches taken by Ultima and Wizardry had answered the question to almost everyone’s satisfaction. But during that establishing age, we saw a lot of variance in approaches, most unsuccessful, and while RPGs may have improved in the following decade, rarely again do we see so much diversity. My summary of the early era has links to a number of titles with fun ideas that went nowhere. In the case of Mordia, its unique contribution is to map every potential action that a player might take–subject, verb, and object–into a single numeric command. Where most games might offer a command for “attack” and then let you specify that you want to target the orc, Mordia puts that all together as command 22: Attack the Orcs. It’s almost like the game was developed by a police officer, used to describing every potential action or situation in a 10-code. Some of the many commands include:
30: Eat Lymphas [a type of bread]
33: Draw the double-handed sword
40: Use the net to trap dragons
50: Climb up one level
63: Remove the gas mask
66: Put on the gas mask
89: Open the chest
90: Attack the balrog
One of three pages of game commands.
As I read and annotated the various commands, I couldn’t help but imagine all kinds of intriguing possibilities with this system. One problem is that all of the commands are manifestly useful in at least one room. It would have been fun if the author had sprinkled patently absurd commands throughout the list
32: Feed Lymphas to the orc
64: Put the gas mask on the dragon
I also imagined such a list extending to the complexity of a modern RPG:
10318: Stab the necromancer in the back, then run away and hide until he forgets about you, then enter sneak mode and stab him in the back again.
15906: Lead the deathclaw to the raider camp and watch the result from behind a nearby rock.
29055: Position the bodies of Ulfric Stormcloak and Galmar Stone-Fist in an obscene manner.
30117: Lasso and hog-tie the Skinner, heave him onto the back of your horse, ride 90 minutes to the swamps of Lemoyne, feed him to an alligator
Of course, such complexity is why the system was doomed to fail in the long run. You can’t have a unique command for drawing each weapon or attacking each monster unless you only have a few potential weapons and monsters. Still, it works for this game better than I thought it would when I first read the description.
At this moment, I can: (-1) descend the “dropoff”; (3-16) flee to any of the listed rooms; (20) use my Charm Ring on the demons; (21) try to take an emergency tunnel to Room 1 of this level; (22) attack the orc; (30) at some Lymphas Bread; (33) draw my double-handed sword in anticipation of attacking the dragon; (37) try to blind the monsters with an elven flare; (40) try to trap the dragon in a net; (44) attack the dragon; (55) try to make a passage upward with my magic wand; (70) go invisible by putting on the One Ring; (80) try to blast all the monsters with the Magic Staff.
Caverns of Mordia was written by Hans Coster, with assistance and manual artwork by Tony D’Assumpcao, and published in 1980 by Sydney-based Lothlorien Farming. It is the earliest known Australian CRPG, pre-dating the next known title (Citadel of Vras) by 9 years. It was marketed via direct magazine sales, and by the author’s account it did well domestically, but Lothlorien soon shifted to educational software rather than game software. Mordia languished in obscurity for decades–not appearing on any of the lists I used to compile my master list–until 2016, when Neville Ridley-Smith of OldComputerStuff.com happened to buy an original disk as part of a lot, then made contact with Dr. Coster, now a professor and department director at the University of Sydney (Neville’s account begins here). Neville’s efforts not only produced a meeting and interview with Dr. Coster, but also a new set of disk and manual images to distribute on the Internet. This disk has some upgrades that were not available in the original version, but it’s hard to tell exactly what’s new because the original versions floating around the Internet are bugged to the point of unplayability. I’ve annotated the things that I think are new, based on changes to the manual and command list. It’s worth nothing that even the “new” stuff isn’t 2016 material; rather, Coster programmed it in the few years after the original 1980 release but simply never released the second version.
The subtitle screen from the revised edition.
The backstory has you play an agent of the wizard Pallandoin. Your mission is to deliver an Orb of Power to Lady Elleda of Locklorien, whose land is besieged by the forces of the evil spirit Sharnoscet. (In case it’s not obvious, almost all proper names in the game are slight alterations of characters and places in the Tolkienverse. “Sharnoscet” is an anagram for “Hans Coster.”) To get to Locklorien, you have decided to travel through the Caverns of Mordia, full of horrid creatures and encounters, because it is the route the enemy will least suspect.
The game suffers from a few originality issues.
Character creation involves answering a few simple but unusual questions. After your name, you’re given the option to start at the surface with a basic kit or jump right into a lower level of the dungeon with a full set of equipment–in effect a shortcut for players who have already been through the opening a bunch of times. The normal exit to the game is on Level 25, but at the outset you can also specify that you’d like a second exit on Level 35, in case you fall down a pit or just want to amass a higher score before winning. I’m not sure that there are any drawbacks to saying “yes” to that question.
A few questions during character creation.
You begin at a dwarven market, where you don’t have enough gold to buy anything, but can later return. Your opening resources are a dagger, a dragon net, a magic staff, a wand, a lamp, the Orb of Power, 400 agility, and 400 strength. Strength serves as both literal strength and a health reserve.
The game begins in an empty room.
Upon entering the caves, gameplay proceeds something like a roguelike with a concept map instead of an actual map. The dungeon consists of at least 35 levels. The manual is unclear, but it’s possible that levels are generated indefinitely (I made it to Level 44 before I died). Each level can consist of up to 16 rooms, with the contents of the room and the connections between them randomly established every time you change levels. They can even be reconfigured while you’re still on a level if you encounter “tremors.”
A text simulation of an earthquake.
Room 1 on each level is a special room in which you can do a couple of useful things. First, you can (Command 0) use the Orb of Power to return to the dwarven market and buy a gas mask (500 gold), a magic two-handed sword (3000 gold) or extra Lymphas Bread. Second, you can (Command 27) exchange your accumulated experience for extra agility or strength. You don’t always want to exchange all of it, however, because your unspent experience is used in some of the formulas for hitting and damaging monsters.
Spending some of my hard-won experience.
Other rooms can contain all kinds of perils depending on the dungeon level, including:
Poisonous gas, which depletes your two characteristics unless you quickly put on a gas mask, and then the gas mask itself causes a 5% attribute loss per turn.
The game warns you about poisonous gas at the beginning, but you won’t be able to afford that gas mask for a while.
Drop-offs, including ones that you can see and hidden ones that dump you unceremoniously to the next level.
Gusts of wind that blow out the lamp and make it impossible to see what’s in the room until you make a movement for a turn and the lamp re-ignites.
Webs spun by the giant spider Araneida, which immobilize you for one or more turns.
Orcs. You can kill them in regular combat.
Dragons. You can also kill them in regular combat or try to trap them with a net first.
A dragon and an orc guard this room with a chest. Because I have a Dragon Occular, I can see the dragon’s health.
Trolls. They always appear to guard the Mithril Armor. I believe they’re new to the second edition.
Balrogs.
Giant vampire bats.
Demons, which can’t be killed through normal combat, only charmed.
Araneida, the giant spider.
Goblins, who can’t be attacked and simply steal one of your potential inventory items (the Dragon Occular) and flee.
Mithril armor is guarded by orcs, demons, vampire bats, and trolls.
The same rooms can also contain useful equipment and assets, including:
Gold. You can’t directly pick it up. Instead, every time you make a move, there’s a chance of grabbing a certain percentage of it.
Chests with gold, elven flares, or Lymphas Bread. Chests can be trapped with serpents that bite you.
The Charm Ring, which stuns demons.
Finding the Charm Ring is a key moment in early gameplay.
The Dragon Occular, which lets you see the relative strength of dragons
Mithril Armor. I believe it is new to the second edition.
The One Ring, which works pretty much as in the book. It renders you invisible while you wear it, but the “evil one” can sense its presence, and every turn you wear it carries an increasing chance of a debilitating spell. I also think this is new to the second edition.
Rooms with various assets and dangers are a staple of games in The Wizard’s Castle variety, but what keeps Caverns of Mordia unique is that any combination of these things can exist together in the same room. You might wander into a room with poison gas, an orc, 500 gold pieces, and 6 vampire bats, and then immediately have your torch blown out. You might descend into a room with an orc, and a dragon, have your Dragon Occular stolen by goblins, and then immediately fall through a hidden hole in the floor. You might be in the middle of a battle against four trolls for some Mithril Armor only to have a tremor reconfigure the dungeon level before you can defeat them.
A fairly simple room with demons, a few room connections, and a way up.
You have a surprising number of options for dealing with these threats, all with potential risks. You can run away to another room, or climb up or down if those passages are open, but running carries a risk of getting swatted by enemies as you leave. You can simply attack with your dagger, or spend an extra round pulling out your two-handed sword (after you’ve bought it), but the sword sucks your strength every turn and only improves your chances against some monsters. You can light an elven flare to blind monsters and improve your chances of hitting them. You can use the staff, which will obliterate orcs, demons, bats, and poison gas and create a tunnel down, but only if it doesn’t backfire and damage you instead. You can try to reach Room 1 in a hurry by taking one of Araneida’s tunnels, but it carries a risk that she’ll bite you on the way. You can point a wand at the ceiling and try to create an escape hole upward.
A more deadly room on Level 6 has an orc, a dragon, and demons.
In short, every room has a lot of tactical possibilities depending on who and what you find there, your current attributes, and what equipment you carry. Upon arrival in a room, you have to decide what takes priority, and whether it makes most sense to fight or flee. You get experience for every successful action, and it adds up fast. Your fortunes wax and wane with astounding swiftness. At times, I’d be down to a few thousand strength, reach Room 1 exhausted, and then find I had 600,000 accumulated experience points to pump into the attribute. Other times, I’d be wandering around confidently with over 100,000 in each attribute, fall through a few holes, meet a balrog, and get the “game over” screen.
Every nine moves, the game has you camp for the night–sometimes, this happens right in the middle of combat. (The manual hand-waves this by saying that you’re magically transported to a pocket dimension for the duration of your rest.) The sleep has a chance of adding 20% to each attribute, and it shows you a currently inventory and mission log when you awaken. You can call this report at any time with a numeric command.
The “cave report” is a simultaneous inventory screen, status report, and rest break.
Overall, the strategy is to build agility and strength slowly on lower levels by killing orcs and charming demons. Rooms get more complex and events more chaotic the further you descend. Once you start killing dragons, and particularly once you start killing balrogs, your experience can increase by hundreds of thousands per level, but your strength and agility can also decrease with equal rapidity, and after Level 15, I was constantly searching for Room 1, often risking Araneida’s tunnel to get there. Such gameplay provided an exciting, nerve-racking experience, mitigated only by the fact that you can save every time you find Room 1 and teleport back to the dwarven market.
Although mostly text-based (and without any sound at all), the game occasionally offers some ASCII animation of your character fleeing battles or descending dungeons.
Running from monsters sends a little ASCII guy scurrying across the screen.
The same guy transitions between levels.
If you die, the game gives you a summary of your character’s actions and an estimation of how close he was to winning the game.
This guy didn’t do so well.
Winning involves exiting the dungeon successfully on Level 25 or 35, which you do as soon as you wander into the room with the exit. You get a satisfying text narrative and a summary screen of your activities. It took me about six total hours and four characters to win. To do so, I did take advantage of occasional saving. Winning without saving, as in a roguelike, would be a hardcore way to do it.
The final text wraps things up nicely.
My final stats for my winning character.
I recorded about 10 minutes of video to include the opening, exploration, combat, and the ending. The character dies a couple of times, and the encounters leading to his death give you some idea of the “oh, #$@*” nature of gameplay, as you careen from room to room trying to get a break from the relentless onslaught of demons and dragons.
youtube
I don’t like to stress the GIMLET rating for early exploratory titles like this. I gave it a 20, scoring it best in “gameplay” (5) for a certain replayability and a difficulty and duration commensurate with its content. It doesn’t check all the RPG boxes, but that’s not quite as important as the spirit of innovation that the game represents. On the cusp of an era where 80% of their titles will receive their DNA from Ultima or Wizardry, it’s nice to see a few games that imagined computer role-playing in different ways.

Month in Review // Christmas is Over Thank Fuck – December
Christmas is officially done and dusted and honestly, I am so fucking thankful.
I loved Christmas day but the days leading up to Christmas? I’m good thanks, can I get Christmas without them next year?
Between the chaos that is Christmas and the extra shifts at work (plus a month-long convoluted promotion) and no longer having a best friend, because of course, I am ready to disappear for at least a year.
Sadly I can’t do that so here we are to discuss my month!
December
Month’s TBR
I didn’t set one!

Look at all those books.
Listen, December was tough, take pity on me, please.

All Stars 4 has only just started but I’m already up to date!
I kind of watched Wreck-It Ralph and by kind of I put it on and sort of paid attention. Oops.
I was planning on seeing Ralph breaks the internet with my nephews but they want to see Bumblebee instead so I guess I’ll watch it next month!
I didn’t watch Ratatouille because I didn’t end up having a movie day with my (now ex?) best friend.
And I don’t think I’ve watched any Buzzfeed Unsolved but I don’t think there has been any new episodes?

Month’s Goals
Try and post 4 times a week like I have been!
I wanna try audiobooks again???
No Borrowing library books unless they’re holds or audiobooks
Continue going on walks 4-5 times a week. 3 at the very least!
Keep up with Bullet Journal because it actually helps me get shit done and be less of a mess.
Try not to eat loads of takeaway, even though I’m gonna be super busy and tired, unless unavoidable.
Make one of Chrissy Teigen’s recipes because they look Bomb af
I mostly kept up with my blogging schedule!
I didn’t find an audiobook I wanted to read available from my library so I just didn’t listen to any. Plus I’m annoyed at myself because Audible had like a 3 months free trial thing happening and I forgot to sign up until the day after the promotion ended. Also from what I hear the American Audible is better so I don’t know if maybe I should sign up for that one?? I know when I was signed up, I was with the UK one because it was better but I don’t know if they let you do that anymore? If anyone can help me I’d really appreciate it! Also, $17 a month is just a lot of month to me.
I haven’t been to the library unless it was to return books!
I realised that the Bullet Journaling gives me too much power! Here’s the thing, I like things to be customisable because I work out what I want and get angry when I can’t do things that way. Unfortunately, I think Bullet Journals are too customisable for me and isn’t really working?? I don’t know. I’m going to look into other diaries for the new year and see if I can find something that fits me better.
I did eat more takeaway than last month so that’s not great but I also didn’t eat more than I used to so that’s good and what I did eat of it were mostly small things. Still not great though!
I’m trying to make @chrissyteigen’s Chicken Pot Pie recipe and I’ve burnt the crust, it’s taking me ages, my arm is sore, everything is in American measurements, I thought I’d get it done in an hour like an idiot who doesn’t read recipes through properly and I wanna die.

I Did Things
I went to the movies with my mum twice this month!
I also went to the movies with my sister which was good! Then we came home and watched Christmas movies together and things got a little emotional and there was a little miscommunication but we worked it out and I’m hoping that we spend some more time together in the coming weeks.
My sister and I both don’t really have a whole lot of people we’re close to. We’re introverts but we also craving some socialising to a point so I think it’ll be good to have us spend some time together. It would also be nice to grow closer to her because I know we both are in need of people we can trust and talk to openly.
My mum and I babysat my Nephew this month as well and it was so much fun. He’s such an easy baby! Literally you can sit him on the couch and he’ll bounce himself off the back of the lounge for hours. He put himself to sleep doing it. Twice.
He’s very cute!
Uhhhh I Maybe No Longer Have A Best Friend?
Long story short I told my best friend of over 10 years that I was officially and legally changing my name for Christmas (it was never a secret that I wanted to change it, she’s known for years) and she didn’t react well at all.
I was firm and told her that if she wanted to continue in my life she had to respect me, and that includes respecting my name and be prepared for big changes ahead.
I’ve given her space to process and decide but haven’t heard from her since so I don’t know, it’s a bit up in the air but I’m handling it surprisingly well so maybe it’s a sign that us parting is for the best???
I don’t want to lose her, but I won’t lose myself to keep her. I won’t sacrifice pieces of myself for the sake of others anymore. All that does is validate toxic behaviour and cost me my health and happiness.
She was kind of my only actual real-life friend who I speak with outside of work so uh good thing I’m too busy to feel lonely.
But I’m super grateful for the people I’ve met through the book community, having this blog and talking to you all reminds me that I’m not really alone. I just have to reach out to people which is, um…not easy for me but I’m trying to work on it.
I hope y’all had a great month to end 2018 on!
What did you do this month? What did you read? What did you watch? What posts did you write that you’re super proud of?

What happens when fail to pay Car Insurance premium? Details Inside.?
"What happens when fail to pay Car Insurance premium? Details Inside.?
Hello Friends, I know that failure to pay car insurance will lead to termination. What I basically want is to cancel the insurance, because I plan not to drive that car for few months to save on Insurance premium. My first question is do they allow termination for such reasons? and in case they don't allow that what would happen if I simply stop paying premium? But remember that I plan not to drive it for few months, so why I need insurance after all. What is the immediate consequence and what is the effect when I would like to drive that car again and want an insurance then? If it is of any relevance, my car is of New York. Please answer me. Thank you

Car insurance question. UK only please?
Hi. 18 months ago me and my hubby went bankrupt (long story) and we have had our new car insurance quote from the company we have been with for 12 years. It jumped from 37 to 60 and we were pretty outraged and so have been shopping around. We were told by someone we know that any new insurance companies would do a credit check and that we may be refused insurance or may get pretty high premiums. As I said, we have been with our insurance company for 12 years and have paid on time every month by direct debit for the car insurance and for the home contents and pet one too. So as your premium is affected by your credit score, does this mean we should have let our insurance company know we went bankrupt, when we did back in Nov 2010? Or does it not count as we were already with them? i don't seriously see why we should've HAD to tell them, but I am not a bit worried. I don't want to make a claim and find that they refuse it because we didn't tell them of the bankruptcy!""

Hey I'm looking to get a new car I'm 22 been driving 3 years and have been driving a boring 1.2 since I started so i finally ready for a new car. I got some quotes I originally jus wanted a 1.6 pertol or something but I got a few quotes on more powerful cars just for a laugh. To my suprise I can actually get insured on cars like 2.5 litre turbo ford focus st and golf gti etc. so now obvioulsy i want one of them but concerned about fuel consumption might cost alot I was also thinking about a audi a3 2.0 tdi which is a diesal. heres where i get confused the focus and golf are a fair bit cheaper to insure than the less powerful diesal a3 I really crnt get my head around this, I have got my quotes from confused.com and had one directly from a insurance website it seems strange and too good to be true. Any know why this is and also anyone got any suggestion on fuel consumption in big engine pertol cars""

Has the law changed with car insurance for additional drivers?
Today I was looking at car insurance quotes & it seems that it costs the same to be an additional driver on somebody Else's car as it is to be a main driver on your own car. I got a quote to be an additional driver on my mothers car she currently pays 850 per year on her car and to get me also insured on her car it will cost 4.700 a year. It will cost me 3,995 a year on my own 1.0l corsa (main driver). My mothers car is a VW polo 1.4. I think the reason for the law change is because of a lot of parents are fronting for their children to make it a lot cheaper which I believe is called fronting.""

Finding the cheapest health insurance to waive school health insurance?
Hello, My college requires that each and every student have health insurance or else they will put you on the school's health insurance - which costs $500 a semester. I've been trying to find an insurance company/plan that meet the requirements to waiver the school's health insurance. Does anyone know a cheap health insurance company/plan in Colorado that meets these requirements? 1. Outside plan must have an annual deductible of $1,500 or less (if it's a family plan, members must have an individual deductible of $1,500 or less). 2. Outside plan must be a Comprehensive Health Insurance Plan that covers medical care for both Injury and Illness, including outpatient AND inpatient medical services. (Non-Comprehensive policies such as Injury, Diagnosis, Cancer, Hospitalization or Catastrophic only plans DO NOT COMPLY). 3. Outside plan must have Mental Health Care Coverage that includes both inpatient and outpatient benefits that have the following minimum levels: Inpatient -- coverage of at least $10,000 or 45 days, Outpatient -- coverage of at least $1,000 or 20 visits.""

Can one opt out of Pay as you go Car Insurance rates?
I was recently shopping around for car insurance. One to see if I could save a couple dollars on my current plan of $150 a month, as well as to get an idea of what I'd be expecting to pay upon getting a better car for commuting. While I was shopping around I quickly started finding out that California has milage based insurance. I commute on average 130 miles a day to and from work not including my personal driving on the weekend or when I go out shopping or whatever else. With that I found that these insurance companies want me to pay them the equivalent of a small mortgage payment to insure my vehicle. So I wouldn't be saving any money in fact I'd be paying close to 1100 dollars more per month than what I do now. All cause I need to live further out from where I work in order to afford a nice place for myself and family. So what are my options? Can I request non milage based quotes and plans or is this some mandate now? Would I have to uproot my entire family just so I can save money on car insurance. While at the same time spending way more on rent? Example I rent a 4 bedroom house for about $2000 a month currently. To get the same thing much closer to my job would be about $5000 a month. If gas prices were't bad enough, lets now punish the many who have longer commutes than the rest is that how its to be understood?""

I need health insurance, like I know many people do. I have cancer, but I guess that's not considered a disabilty because I was turned down. My job does not pay for medical. I know several married couples where they have two different insurance policies through each of their employers, and they get to pick and choose which one to use. I don't have a spouse. I know several people who are alcoholics who have an HMO through their retirement and they are in the hospital every other month, simply because they have over drank. They run to the doctor every two months for very trivial things/ I know of several who abuse the veterans hospital from runny noses to a simple headache, plus they are paid monthly for a disabilty they don't have. They just don't want to work. I think married couples should only be able to use one insurance policy, and these others should be only allowed to go to the doctor a few times a year. What happens when fail to pay Car Insurance premium? Details Inside.?
Hello Friends, I know that failure to pay car insurance will lead to termination. What I basically want is to cancel the insurance, because I plan not to drive that car for few months to save on Insurance premium. My first question is do they allow termination for such reasons? and in case they don't allow that what would happen if I simply stop paying premium? But remember that I plan not to drive it for few months, so why I need insurance after all. What is the immediate consequence and what is the effect when I would like to drive that car again and want an insurance then? If it is of any relevance, my car is of New York. Please answer me. What's the point of car insurance?
I've been paying my insurer monthly for several years. I have one relatively small accident where my damage doesn't reach deductible (so I have to pay for my damage out of pocket in full), they pay the other car which was around $1500 or so. They raise my premium for 3 years to an amount where in 3 years I end up paying for the other car anyway, and I still pay monthly as I have for all of the years before that... I'm trying to figure out how that's beneficial - outside of the fact that they paid upfront.""

Got into a car accident with rental and declined the insurance?
hi all i was hoping you could get some facts/and or legal advice. Ok so i have been renting this car for about 6 month now because i cant afford a down payment for my own. I had my own car insurance which covered the rental. However(bad luck struck) i got into a car accident 2 days after my car insurance lapsed i have since renewed my policy right away with another insurance company that gave me better rates. The fault of the accident has not yet been determined. I believe it was the other persons fault. however i am worried what will happen if it is deemed to be my fault. i was not covered at the time of the accident, i did not obviously have coverage through the rental company. i want to make something clear that i am a person of good faith and if it were to be deemed as my fault i have no problem paying the other persons deductable. but i am worried about someone going after me for thousands and thousands or jail time or loosing my licence. so my questions are do rental car companies carry default uninsured motorist coverage(even if i opp out of purchasing theres?) if it is my fault do i get to pay the other persons deductable(and damage to rental) and walk away? will her insurance sue me for full cost of repairs? will her insurance go after rental company go after rental place for money? will her insurance go after my new insurance even though i was not covered by them at the time of the accident? fyi: no one was hurt, she has a minor medium size dent in door panel, i have small tear in my bumper""

Time to Act: Review Responses Just Evolved from "Extra" to "Expected"
With Google’s rollout, we can assume that this number is about to rise.
I’m wondering now if knowing there’s a very good chance that companies are responding to feedback could lessen the instances of consumers taking wild, often anonymous potshots at brands and create a more real-world, conversational environment.
