2025 book bingo tbr
i'm gonna be following the 2025 book bingo created by the magnanimous @batmanisagatewaydrug and i have just completed (to the extent i can today) my tbr! (this has also inspired me into making a list of 25 things i need to do 25 times throughout 2025... so if there's one thing i will be next year, it is occupied). i drew from books that i own/my roommate owns as much as possible.
Literary Fiction: Luster by Raven Leilani (which has been on my libby holds list since mackenzie last recommended it. abt 20 weeks to go).
2. Short Story Collection: Cursed Bunny by Bora Chung, translated by Anton Hur (advanced reader's copy i got for free from my college's book club)
3. A Sequel: A Day of Fallen Night by Samantha Shannon
4. Childhood Favorite: The Sword of Darrow by Alex and Hal Malchow or Heidi by Johanna Spyri or something i find when i am home for the holidays that calls my soul more than these two
5. 20th Century Speculative Fiction: The Silmarillion by J. R. R. Tolkein (because TECHNICALLY it counts)
6. Fantasy: Piranesi by Susanna Clarke (one of the few remaining Book of the Month editions i still own)
7. Published Before 1950: Spoon River Anthology by Edgar Lee Masters, published in 1915
8. Independent Publisher: I Love Information by Courtney Bush, published by Milkweed Editions (will need to either get over my fear of going to the library in person to set up my online account and put a hold on this OR purchase a copy)
9. Graphic Novel/Comic Book/Manga: Fun Home by Allison Bechdel or Saga by writer Brian K. Vaughan and artist Fiona Staples, have not decided (both owned by my roommate)
10. Animal on the Cover: Diminished Capacity by Sherwood Kiraly (he was my playwriting/fiction professor and gave me my copy of the novel)
11. Set in a Country You Have Never Visited: Euphoria by Lily King, set in New Guinea (owned by my roommate)
12. Science Fiction: Dirk Gently's Holistic Detective Agency by Douglas Adams
13. 2025 Debut Author: Julie Chan is Dead by Liann Zhang, expected May 2025 (another physical hold or purchase situation)
14. Memoir: Reading With Patrick by Michelle Kuo (commencement speaker at my graduation!)
15. Read a Zine, Make a Zine: tbd! will probably be more than one!
16. Essay Collection: The Book of Difficult Fruit by Kate Lebo
17. 2024 Award Winner: How to Say Babylon by Safiya Sinclair, NBCC Award for Autobiography (will borrow from libby, audiobook is also available)
18. Nonfiction: Learn Something New: I was paying more attention to the nonfiction part than the learn something new part and i do need to find a new book for this because originally i was gonna go with one of Caitlin Doughty's novels which, while lovely, are not something New To Me. i know i have a biography of Anna Freud somewhere so maybe i will dig that up? otherwise it might be a scroll-through-libby adventure
19. Social Justice & Activism: The Theater of War by Bryan Doerries (read a few chapters first year of undergrad but never the whole thing so technically it counts as a new book for me)
20. Romance Novel: Once Upon a Broken Heart by Stephanie Garber
21. Read and Make a Recipe: Jane Austen's Table by Robert Tuesley Anderson, specific recipe to be determined upon reading
22. Horror: Flowers in the Attic by V. C. Andrews (owned and recommended by my roommate as a good option for me, because i do not do well with horror. respect the genre so much!! but my anxiety disorder)
23. Published in the Aughts: Throne of Jade by Naomi Novik (just got my thrift books copy a couple weeks ago. i am making myself SAVOR this series)
24. Historical Fiction: Water for Elephants by Sara Gruen
25. Bookseller or Librarian Recommendation: tbd upon getting over my fears and actually visiting my library in person! it's a five minute walk from my apartment i do not know what my problem is

So I'm planning on doing a Low Buy Year mostly to curb my consumerist impulses, reduce consumption and environmental impact overall and just save a bit of money and I figured I'd post my manifesto on here mostly to hold myself accountable and maybe inspire a few people!
1. No new clothes - I don't want to fall into the trap of fast fashion - I am already decluttering, and while I do want more masculine clothing since coming out as transmasc anything I do get is exclusively secondhand, but ideally I shouldn't be buying clothes at all. My exception to this is if I go to a concert or show I may allow myself a t shirt.
2. No new bags. I have plenty of bags. I don't need anymore.
3. No new products until empty - this is mostly for things like aftershave, moisturiser, shampoos and most difficult, hair dye. I'm not going to buy new bottles unless I've ran out
4. No yarn purchases until I have used up a fair amount of my stash.
5. No new art supplies or journals unless I completely fill my current ones
6. As a general rule, nothing new unless to replace something. No replacing something if it's repairable
7. Don't buy anything that I could make with supplies on hand (as in, I already have the materials to make such a thing, no loopholes to allow myself to buy things just to make the thing I want to buy)
8. I am allowed to buy fabric and haberdashery to support my costume degree.
9. A personal allowance is set each week to be spent on essentials, what is leftover will be split into a savings pot and a fund for experiences - ie, going out with friends
10. Unless I seriously read through everything on my to be read, no new books
11. Try to replace time looking at products with other habits - instead of walking on the high street, walk in nature, read instead of looking at social media with adverts. This is less no buy but more me trying to spend less time on my phone and with stimulation because I think it's an actual detriment to my mental health and ADHD
13. I will allow myself to buy accessories such as jewellery second hand
14. I will allow myself to buy art prints at comic con and pride, but will set a specific budget for myself
15. I will turn to modifying and making my wardrobe before I consider buying anything - do I need to buy that, or is there something I own that could work?
16. I will allow myself to buy gifts for others, but will aim to be sustainable and get items I know people will use and are thoughtful.
I love maximalism, I love clutter, but there's a big difference between what I love, built up of heartfelt items I've collected, things I've made, and falling into the trap of buying to fulfil dopamine. I am definitely an impulsive buyer, and for some these might not sound like tough restrictions but for me I know they will be. I will maybe update this blog with how I get on with this throughout the year with little reflections. I don't know. I just know I can't be a punk and keep letting myself fall into the trap of constantly buying and spending and it needs to stop.

WIP Monday
I've wanted to re-write the whole grove scene from Chapter 9, book 1 for a *while,* so I'm excited to share this little bit I've started on. I intend for this to get a little E-rated later but this part is isn't lol.
I also want to switch POV and examine what was going on in Kieran's head when he sends MC away afterward.
I hope you like this little preview!
Kieran x female Ella (second person).
“Ella, wait! Stop!” You hear the prince’s shouted command at your back, but you keep running. He may own you, for now - bound by some Fae law that governs this place with a power far beyond your understanding - and you know he will chase after you, hunt you down, as your constant attempts for freedom insult his pride and incite his anger. He is used to instant obedience, constant obsequence. You know that you will likely pay in some way for this insolence. But at the very least, you will make him work to catch you. If he truly wants to stop you, he would do it. He could command your legs to grow roots, or to freeze your body into ice. He's the Ruler of All Fae, and it's still his reign for a few weeks more. Yet, for some reason, he does not do it. For some reason, despite all you know him capable of, you do not think he would be that cruel. And so you run.
You don’t even know why you’re running. Not this time. You haven’t tried to run away again since you discovered Prince Kieran’s curse. You aren’t even attempting to get away; you know he'll catch you. The terms of your sentence aren't up yet.
You just can’t bear to let him see you like this, with this ridiculous swell of emotion. You have to be away from here, all these people and Fae…especially away from her.
You crash blindly through the beautiful glade, hardly seeing the glowing flowers whose rare beauty, even in this realm of beauty, inspires a whole festival. You hear the prince’s boots behind you, steady on your heels, calling your name. He’s tireless. You are not.
Finally you can’t run anymore. You stop, chest heaving with great, gasping breaths, and hear him scramble to a stop without turning to face him. His footsteps become soft, muted by the moss underfoot, and you sense him coming near.
You expect to be scolded, but hear nothing except his own breaths. He isn’t even winded.
“I know there is nowhere I cannot go where you won’t find me,” you say, hating how tremulous your voice sounds. “But please, my lord, I beg you. Leave me be.”
“Ella.”
Your name on his lips is so soft. Disappointed, confused, hurt, commanding, all at once. It hurts.
You don’t turn to face him; you can’t. So Prince Kieran takes matter into his own hands.
His grip on your shoulder is careful but insistent, and it’s pointless to resist his will, his iron strength, as he makes you turn toward him. You can only take in his expression for a moment before stubbornly turning your gaze away, but he seems puzzled and concerned more than angry.
“Tell me what I’ve done to upset you,” the prince commands.
You make a small sound, like a scoff. Even in this, he makes commands. He had no idea how to speak to anyone of lesser station.
But it’s more of an attempt to understand you than he’s tried before.
What would you even say? How could you put your feelings into words?
You had spent such a lovely day together, you and the cold Moon Prince. He’d invited you here with him, gifting you a beautiful Fae gown suitable for the occasion. He’d let you drag him from one incredible sight to the next, enjoying all the food stalls and booths, the magical performances, the menagerie - even gave in to your childlike request to purchase treats to feed the creatures.
It had almost seemed like you were becoming…friends.
You’d nearly come close to understanding - if not yet forgiving - the prince keeping you captive in his castle. Aside from a few outbursts, which you had admittedly provoked from him on purpose, he had not been cruel. You’d slept in a lovely room, eaten as much wonderful food as you’d wanted, and your chores seemed like more busywork than anything, for no mortal servant could have been more useful to Longclaw than her own magic.
As shameful as it felt, you had become…accustomed to the Moon Palace. And perhaps even to the Moon Prince, himself.
The way he’d looked at you…the way he spoke to you at times felt not like the way a prince spoke to servant. He even listened to you, of late - trusting you in your mission to negotiate the heart piece away from The Magpie, letting you convince him to explore the festival when it was clear he was doing it only for your benefit alone.
And, heavens, the way he’d touched you…
Pretending to be his fiance in front of The Magpie had been such a wild and dangerous idea, and yet for a man who couldn’t lie, Prince Kieran had been so smooth with his improvisations. You had shamelessly goaded him, sitting upon his lap, nuzzling his neck. It had been a game, and yet…
Yet the way he’d consumed you on the carriage ride home in the brief, dizzying afterglow of his heart piece returning, you’d barely had a chance to come up for air. His hands had been all over you as if he was a man famished, and only the warmth of your skin would sate him. But as hungry and as powerful as he was, the prince’s touch had been reverent, cautious. He had asked for your permission. Perhaps it was simply the courtesy that was inborn of Faekind - they may be immoral killers but none would ever even consider disrespect.
But for you, a mortal tavern girl well-used to mortal men who felt entitled to taking callous liberties with your body, that gesture alone, and from a prince, had burned itself into your being.
There was such a gentleness in the infamous Moon Prince. Well-hidden, to be sure, but you had glimpsed what sort of man may lay beneath the imperious, cursed shell of ice and sharp teeth. He’d protected you during the Grand Hunt with the gallant expertise of a man who knew both his horse and his forest like the back of his hands. He’d watched you clean blood from his wounds with the wide-eyed suspicion of a cornered, pained animal that expected you to betray his first fragile scrap of trust. He’d gaped at you with pure shock and wonder when you’d produced the piece of his heart he had thought to be lost.
You were falling for him.
And just now, after you’d spent such a lovely outing together, you’d run to him, bursting with pride that you’d gotten the amulet you’d come for all by yourself - navigated a tricky Fae agreement without needing his help - you’d caught the tail end of the man you’d begun thinking of a your prince. His cheek caressed by the ivory hand of a Fae princess who hated you…while he stood stock-still and done nothing to stop it.
And it all had come crashing down. This whole silly fantasy you’d built in your head. You were the prince’s mortal servant, nothing more. An annoying thorn in his side that he barely tolerated. He’d touched you with brazen intimacy in that carriage, but he hadn’t kissed you. He’d teased you about your virginity when you’d happened across him naked and asleep in his bed, and he’d ordered you about like a child. Made you dress him, to show you your place.
He’d loved the princess for decades. She’d slept in his bed. She knew him in intimate ways you did not. She touched him with an easy familiarity, and he’d allowed it…almost as if he’d missed it.
Their relationship was so far beyond your experience, a young mortal woman too poor to garner the interest of any of the village suitors. You knew nothing of the world, and very little of men. Your dresses were all given to you by the Moon Court; your own mortal rags were an embarrassment. Compared to the perfect, glittering sun princess, with her wiles and power, you couldn’t ever hope to gain any of Prince Kieran’s true interest. Lustre had been correct: you were just temporary. A momentary passing fancy to the attention of Fae.
You. Were. Nothing.

writing patterns!!
tagged by @honestlydarkprincess thank you, my bean!!
rules: list the first line(s) of your last 10 posted fics and see if there's a pattern!
(none of these are buddie so there's your disclaimer lmao)
1. God is a Bit of a Freak - Rated E, Meg Masters/Castiel/Dean Winchester
Honestly, if you ask Meg what she gets up to on a general Saturday evening, the answer isn’t what you’d expect. Yes, she’s single, nearly 30, and has… a semi-normal amount of friends. You’d think she’d be with them or on a date or something.
2. What Happens in Oz... - Rated E, Charlie Bradbury/Dorothy Baum
The way Oz works is that it’s every person for themselves. Charlie is learning this very quickly and sooner than she’d like. The body of someone she and Dorothy once considered an ally is now dead on the floor, courtesy of the latter. Blood seeps out on the tufted carpet of Oz’s version of the Men of Letters bunker. What once was the Bravest Cowardly Lion’s fur is now a stained and stepped-over relic of the past. Charlie suppresses the urge to gag. She glances at Dorothy, whose face is hardened with the stink of betrayal that hangs in the room. The air runs thick with it.
3. Holy Ground - Rated E, Castiel/Dean Winchester
Cas - One Week Before the Wedding
Coming back to a place you’d long ago given up on, feels a bit… bittersweet. Everything is nearly exactly as it was 15 years ago; the convenience shop on the corner, the church in the center, the Roadhouse. The only thing that has really changed is the people. It’s more or less the same crowd, only with more wrinkles and bigger bellies. The stores are more weather-worn, too – the paint faded on the signs and windows by the same sun that has chapped skin and dulled lined-dried clothes until the whole town seems washed out and pale.
4. enthusiastic consent - Rated E, Castiel/Dean Winchester
Dean has a shadow.
Yeah, no shit, Sherlock. Everyone has a shadow.
Dean has two though, he’s sure of it. He’s been sure of it since last week when the debilitating feeling of being watched was too much to bear and now he believes it. Because he’s seen the goddamn stalker ! Albeit, handsome stalker but stalker nonetheless.
5. Bedroom Hymns - Rated E, Castiel/Dean Winchester
The Impulse Purchase - 2014
Dean didn’t even think twice about clicking the order button on a value pack of men’s panties. If anyone were to look through his search history, he would vehemently deny it but that’s the perk of having his own computer. 6. close encounter of the fourth kind - Rated E, Castiel/Dean Winchester, Dean Winchester/Others
To say Dean was abducted is the understatement of the century.
His ass was literally taken out of his comfy memory foam mattress, shoved into a sac, and brought to… wherever the fuck this is: this Area 51 looking room, that’s for damn sure. 7. The Red Means I Love You - Rated E, Kaia Nieves/Claire Novak
An oak tree marks Claire’s first grave. She found it on a whim, adrenaline rushing through her veins trying to find an appropriate burial spot among the woods just behind campus. She dug feverishly until she couldn’t see the ground above her, paranoia growing higher by the minute. It was only when she scrambled back up and dropped the extremely disfigured body of her mother into the ground and covered it up did she feel the relief. That was the only thing she didn’t prepare for.
8. Butcher's Cut - Rated E, Castiel/Dean Winchester
Does Dean Winchester have a clue about what he’s doing?
No.
Is that stopping him?
Also no.
But opening a butcher/sandwich shop in town with his best friend — neither of them having any experience of running a business — may be one of the more stupid ideas he’s ever had. Not that he’s had any good ones but, here he is. 9. baby, it's cold outside - Rated T, Castiel/Dean Winchester
THUMP!
“Ow—son of a bitch! ”
Castiel whips his head up from where it’s buried in his book to find the source of the sound. 10. nobody cares this is the day i was born - Rated G, Castiel/Dean Winchester
Two days. That’s all he gets. Two days before his birthday, Lisa shoves a birthday card at his chest and tells him she’s breaking up with him and he’s left there with a crumpled gift and a broken heart. Two days. He’s fine. He can cope. Except it’s his birthday in two days and he had planned to spend it with Lisa and now? Well, he’s blown off every other attempt his friends have made to spend his birthday with him, so it’s definitely too late to ask if he can join in on plans they probably made without him.

My Decision has been made...
Good Afternoon, my beautiful astro babes!
A Week ago, I made a poll asking if you'd all rather me go the route of Patreon or Twitch. I want to take a bigger step in my career esp given my upcoming transits and other circumstances.
The poll has officially ended and there was a weeks' time to vote.
Patreon was the WINNER
I actually prefer this over twitch being that i can do more and there be a huge bang for your buck!
My Patreon will include a lot such as...
Lives (will be available to watch even if you missed it)
Exclusive In-depth information
Merch (towards the end of the year)
Discounts for readings, books and classes exclusive to patreon members
YouTube style videos (so those on Patreon will be seeing my face lol)
Classes strictly for Patreon members (the classes will be chosen by them)
& way more!
There will only be one tier. I find that this is the easiest way for me to post quality content between 2 platforms (Tumblr & Patreon) as well as not having people feel "left out" who may not be able to maintain the purchase of other tiers they may really like to join.
The only Tier will be $9. Being that a lot of quality content and such will be produced every month, I find that this is an amount that isn't too, too much but can still be sustainable for me.
I will be very ecstatic for those of you who'd like to join. I will be able to do more with something that I love to do without any outside sources intervening. This will also help me better interact with everyone one on one and giving a specific group of people what they want and need. The information i'll have on my Patreon will definitely be things that you can (& should) apply to your daily life to better your quality of life. This will also be towards people trying to get into the deeper parts of astrology.
I hope that everyone who wants to join is able to join!
However, there is one more thing I'd like to address. As a 1H Jup, I like to ask for signs from the universe for if I should do something or not. I was wondering if I should go on to Patreon/Twitch or if I should continue to stay on social medias strictly being that I've been on here for years.
Yesterday, I was accused of "stealing" my book title name from someone handle. For those of you who have been here for a while & came from twitter, I released Written In The Cosmos, on May 1st and was working on it a month prior to posting about it on April 1st. Nothing about or from my book was ever stolen from someone or something else. The title? Came from my mom. I asked her to help me with title and chapter names and she gave me a few and Written in the cosmos was supposed to be a chapter title but I switched it to a book title. The Artwork? If you've read any of my book promo, you'd know that it is Watercolor Painted by me! I also posted the whole tutorial on my personal TikTok and I painted it way before I thought about my book. The contents? was all me. Experiences I had and gathering information from people I interviewed! This is the first and last time I'll speak on this being that I honestly don't have the energy or anything to prove becuz as I worked on my book, I posted about it all the time. However, she commented on my post about my book, so I dm'd her asking her to clarify the issue and then I was blocked instantly. Furthermore, I took this as a sign to do bigger things becuz as a Scorpio/8H plmnt, if you aren't doing your thing and someone isn't trying to accuse you of something you didn't do...are you doing it right??? LOL
Nevertheless, everyone here knows I only post original content and I'm usually out and about when I think of posts info and ideas so I'll put it in my voice memos and type them out later.
Thank you for everyone who has purchased my book becuz it's meant the absolute world to be being that I thought it wasn't good enough to share! You are very appreciated by me forever and always!
I can't wait to start my New Patreon journey while also continuing my journey on here!
If you got this far, I love you and more content will be loading!!!!!!!

Winter Wolf: Part 16
Pairings: Bucky x Reader
Warnings: Swearing, fluff, angst
Word Count: 5,180
A/N: Finally got the muse to finish this story! YAY!
Part 1 / Part 2 / Part 3 / Part 4 / Part 5 / Part 6 / Part 7 / Part 8 / Part 9 / Part 10 / Part 11 / Part 12 / Part 13 / Part 14 / Part 15
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
“Defense would like to call it’s first witness- Tony Stark.” Mike said first thing in the morning on day three, after spending the first two completely annihilating every witness the prosecution had in only a matter of minutes each. The jury all exchanged glances since you were on trial for killing Howard and Maria, and they were a little confused as to why Tony would be the one defending you. You did everything you could to control your smile as the bailiff brought in a TV from the back, because you knew if Tony had anything to do with that, the courtroom was in for a wild ride.
“Mr. Stark.” Mike said as he picked up his massive brief case and set it on the table.
“Mr. Young.”
“I’m just going to jump right in here and address the elephant in the room. You are here as a witness on behalf of my client, correct?”
“That is correct.” Tony said with a nod as he leaned back in his chair and got comfortable.
“But... my client is being charged with the murder of your parents, Howard and Maria.”
“Yea. The Wolf definitely did it.”
“And you know that for a fact?” Mike asked, making the smile fall slightly from your face.
“Oh, absolutely, I have proof.” Tony confirmed as he sat up and tapped his glasses.
“Defense exhibit 9.” Mike said as Tony commandeered the court’s TV. You looked down at your hands and took a deep breath because you didn’t want to watch the video, but you looked up when the ‘Good Night Moon’ song started playing instead.
“Wait, that’s the wrong one.” He said with a glance over at you since his mistake was intentional. “Technology can be so tricky. Here it is.” He sat back in his spot and looked directly at you with a reassuring smile as the security video from the night of December 16th, 1991. You knew no one else in the room could hear it but you, but you teared up gratefully as the very, very subtle melody of Ana’s song played underneath the video for you, and you alone. As the jury gasped and cringed away, Tony simply kept your eyes on his for your own sanity, and slowly nodded his head, telling you that everything was going to be OK.
“Now that must have been excruciating to watch the first time.” Mike asked when the video went black, and Tony nodded as he looked over at him. “What was your reaction to it?”
“I’m not proud of it today, but I punched her. Then I kicked her out of my house and I may have even mentally plotted her demise for a minute.”
“But then you brought her home.” Mike said as he pulled a massive file of of his bag and set it on the table. “In fact, you even sought out, and purchased her late husband’s plantation and are currently financing the reconstruction and refurbishment of said property, isn’t that right? Defense 10.” Mike said as he passed out copies of Green Pebble Hill’s current deed, and receipts for the money Tony had put into so far.
“It’s a beautiful plantation, and the house will be even more so.”
“But that doesn’t make sense. Why would you do something so generous for someone that murdered your parents?”
“Because I did my research.” Tony said simply which made Mike turn around with an award winning smile that made you realize that this moment was the one he had been waiting for for weeks.
“Defense exhibits eleven through four hundred and sixteen.” He said as he pulled out an actually bound book with tabs sticking out of the side. “I only have one physical copy, Your Honor, but I do have a quick notes type slide show available for the jury.”
“I’ll allow it.” She said as she took the book, while Everett simply sat back in his chair, completely defeated, despite not even being close to the end of the trial.
“Now Mr. Stark...” Mike said as he put his hard drive into the TV and grabbed the remote off the stand. “Where did you start this research and why?”
“I started it to find answers.” Tony stated as he rocked himself back and forth in the chair. “And I started with the HYDRA files Natasha Romanoff leaked in 2014.”
“And what did you find?”
“I found the mother load.” Tony said as Mike pulled up the first page. “I found HYDRA’s notes dating all the way back to 1931 regarding ‘Project X’ and subsequently, the ‘Winter Wolf’.”
“And what is that, exactly?”
“It was an experiment meant for finding one specific mutant to turn them in to an assassin for HYDRA’s use.”
“Can you tell us more?”
“Oh, can I ever.” Tony said as he sat up like an excited kid on Christmas. “‘Project X’ required a mutant with any type of powers that was capable of withstanding having the metal, adamantium bonded to their skeleton.”
“And with all your research on those notes, what kind of mutant where they needing specifically?” Mike asked as he flipped to the next slide and slowly walked back over to the table so that the jury would be forced to see your reaction to this line of questioning.
“They needed someone that is incapable of dying that can also self heal.”
“And why’s that?” Mike asked, setting Tony up for the land slide.
“Because adamantium must be kept at 1,500 degrees Fahrenheit to stay in a liquid form so that it can be sent through dozens of tiny needles straight into the mutant’s body into their bones. Brutal stuff.” The room gasped as the heat from that day radiated throughout your body for a brief moment.
“What did you find next?”
“Well once they found that mutant, they had to figure out what she was capable of before she could be converted. Can she regenerate limbs? Which she obviously can’t.” He said as he gestured to you while Mike flipped his slide. “How quickly can she self heal from gun shots, stab wounds, deep lacerations, and such. Is she able to fight, and if not, can it be taught. And was it even possible to brainwash someone that could self heal at all? Within a few months, they found out the answers to all of those questions. And it wasn’t just HYDRA running these tests... it started with members of the United States government.” Tony went on for over an hour explaining every single thing he found in English in your file that detailed what you had gone through in the decades that HYDRA held you captive. And once he had finished, and without having to even ask when he was done, you knew exactly who Mike was calling to the stand next.
“Now, Ms. Romanoff.” Mike said once your ex was sworn in. “You not only did research with Mr. Stark to differentiate Dr. Barnes from the Winter Wolf, but you also knew her personally in multiple capacities, isn’t that right?”
“That is correct.” Not said as she forced herself to keep her eyes on your lawyer so she wouldn’t cross anymore lines with you even though you were looking down at the table.
“Can you tell the court of your personal encounters with Dr. Barnes?”
“She was brought into the Red Room where I was trained to be an assassin to assist in combat skills... and she was also my lover.” You both looked up at each other at the same time, as a murmur raced through the jurors box, which Mike completely ignored.
“And I know it will be hard... but can you tell the court what consequences being her lover lead to?” Simultaneously, you both turned away from the other and you quickly started screaming ‘Good Night, Moon’ in your head while Natasha described in detail your relationship in Russia. You were eternally grateful that even the Wolf blocked out the details of the hours of torture she had to sit through as a consequence, but it still didn’t stop your mind from reliving them all over again all the same.
“I’m deeply sorry that you both had to go through that.” Mike breathed as he slowly walked over to the table and purposely bumped it the way Tony had previously instructed to jar you from your thoughts before the Wolf took control. He glanced down at you to make sure you were OK for a moment, before looking back up at Nat to continue. “So let’s move on to the research. As we learned from Mr. Stark, half of it was in Russian, and since you speak the language fluently, you were the one that translated. What did you learn?”
“The major thing I found was the detailed plans of every single hit the Winter Wolf had, down to the most minute detail that the agents of HYRDA had prepared so their assassin could complete her missions properly.“ Mike nodded his head as he hit ‘play’ on the remote so that all of those documents would flip through in the background.
“So as far as you saw, not a single one of these assassinations were chosen, thought out, or prepared by Dr. Barnes or the Winter Wolf herself?”
“Not a single one.”
“And you have gotten to know Dr. Barnes personally, not just when she was out of cryogenic sleep, training you in the Red Room, but after the fact when she moved into the Stark tower in 2016. In your honest opinion, do you believe that the woman in this room, the woman far away from HYDRA’s control, the wife, and mother we see before us is capable of committing these murders if it hadn’t been for HYDRA’s control?” Natasha shook her head and looked over at you with barely a hint of tears in her eyes, but also a tight lipped smile that spoke volumes.
“No. (Y/N) is one of the kindest, most gentle people I know. She wouldn’t hurt a fly. Especially after everything she has gone though in her lifetime.”
“Thank you, Ms. Romanoff. That is all I have.” She nodded her head and kept eye contact for a minute longer, before forcing her self to look at Everett as he got up in a vain attempt to destroy her character before lunch.
——
The next three days were much of the same for you- sheer torture. You were forced to listen to Steve go on and on about the woman he knew before and after HYDRA’s kidnapping. You had to sit through Bruce’s explanation of living with “the other guy” and his struggles and triumphs. You had to listen to Bucky and Wanda both gush about what an amazing woman, wife, and mother you had become… but it didn’t stop your mind from wandering to all the torment you were going to have to relive once it was your turn to take the stand.
The weekend was rough, seeing you jump at the littlest things. The only thing keeping you calm was Ana, who was officially able to talk your ear off with her collection of a few dozen words- ‘Ana' being her favorite. Everything was ‘Ana ball’, ‘Ana toy’, or ‘Ana mama’, which made you smile more than you believed possible. But Monday still drew nearer and your fate was believed to be set in stone no matter how much you wanted to believe otherwise.
“You need to go to Wakanda.” You told Bucky on a regular basis over the course of the two day weekend, but he stubbornly refused to listen to you.
“You are going to be cleared of all charges, don’t worry.” He’d say as he’d chase after your daughter around the suite.
“You still need to go to Wakanda.”
——
“The defense calls Dr. (Y/N) Barnes.” You couldn’t stop yourself from fiddling with the material of your dress as you were sworn in and seated in the stand, but you looked up at the crowd of Avengers that were able to sit and support you since they all had testified on your behalf already. You knew, once again, that no one could hear it, but the sound of ‘Good Night, Moon’ was unmistakable to you. Like a dog whistle to a dog. Tony met your eyes and nodded as he let it play on repeat, while Mike leaned against the table in front of you, settling in for a long day.
“Good morning, Dr. Barnes.”
“Good morning.”
“Shall we just jump right in?” You nodded and whispered yes as years of abuse slammed into the forefront of your mind, even making the Wolf cringe in response. “Let’s start with an easy one. Did the Wolf kill all the people you are being charged with?”
“Yes.” You whispered, before clearing your throat, nodding, and repeating yourself loud enough for the room to hear. “Yes, she did.”
“And were you forced to be the Wolf by HYDRA?”
“Yes, I was.”
“Is she here today?” He asked as he crossed his arms over his chest.
“She is.”
“And can we meet her?” You startled the slightest bit as the Wolf laughed in your mind, and you admittedly shook your head.
“No. No one will meet her ever again.”
“Very good.” He said as he stood up straight and turned the TV in the room back on, so that the jury could see the documents about the Winter Wolf once more. “Now, Dr. Barnes. Let’s get into the harder stuff.” With a heavy sigh, you nodded your head and folded your hands in your lap, painfully gripping your fingers together so tight they might have broke, if that were at all possible. “How did you find yourself under HYDRA’s rule?” You cringed at the memory of Little Stevie and your discussion and looked up at the man in question.
“Why not put someone on the front line that can’t die, right, Stevie?” You asked, which made him nod his head and smile softly at you. With another sigh, you ran your fingers through your hair and started talking.
Once the floodgates opened, it was impossible for you to stop them. You spilled every single thing HYDRA did to you, and the Wolf even helped supply things that you didn’t even remember before that moment. It was almost like she was working with you to fight against HYDRA’s rule over the pair of you. Mike asked carefully placed questions, guiding you through your life story, but for the most part, he let you describe years of torture, killings, and abuse you faced at the hands of monsters. You could see the stunned faces of the jury out of the corner of your eye, but you stayed focused straight a head, on the cellphone in Tony’s lap, that was playing ‘Good Night, Moon’ over, and over, and over again. It was your life line to sanity, because the memories that were pouring out of your mouth were threatening to drag you under and let the Wolf out at any moment.
“Let’s take a break for lunch.” The judge said after you had given explicit details of killing your sixth target.
“You doing OK?” Bucky asked as you sat back down at the defense table, but you shook your head and looked directly at Tony.
“Don’t stop playing that song.”
“Never.” He replied as he turned the song up a click so you could hear it over the rumble of voices in the court room. With a nod and a sigh of relief, you closed your eyes and sat back in your chair, just listening and quieting the voices in your head.
——
Three days. It took three days to officially document the 97 kills the Winter Wolf was responsible for. Your tears for their deaths had long since dried up and you were emotionally numb. The only thread of your sanity you held onto was because of Ana’s song that Tony hadn’t stopped playing for you for a moment in those three days. But your life was about to get so much worse.
“Good afternoon, Dr. Barnes.” Everett Ross said in a smarmy tone as he moved to stand in between you and your view of the Avengers.
“Mr. Ross.” You replied shortly with a nod.
“So over the past three days, you admitted to killing 97 people in your existence on this Earth.”
“Forced.” You responded, which made him bristle.
“You killed 97 people, didn’t you, Dr. Barnes?” He repeated with a glance at the jury.
“I was forced to kill 97 people, yes.” You said simply, trying to get under his skin the way he was.
“How can we know for sure that you were forced to do so?” You wanted to stay quiet so bad, but after he repeated the question, you let your proverbial claws fly.
“Sir, I was beaten, cut, tortured, burned, shot, electrocuted, and abused at the hands of monsters far greater than you for decades. I assure you, I was forced.”
“And how do we know that you won’t and haven’t killed since the supposed last kill you did quote “for HYDRA”?”
“Because I am not that person anymore.”
“And how do we know that?!” He demanded loudly. Anger boiled in your veins but before you could react, Bucky said ‘Anastasia’ under his breath just loud enough that you could hear him. You met his eyes for only a moment as Ross shifted his weight on his feet, and you took a deep breath to respond.
“Sir, I have been alive for almost two hundred years. I celebrated my one hundredth and seventy seventh birthday this year. I am an Avenger, a wife, and a mother. I am not a killer. I have nightmares…”
“Objection, answer the question.” Ross tried to interrupt, but you simply continued.
“…of those people I was forced to kill almost nightly. I wake up in a cold sweat, sometimes screaming…”
“Objection, answer the quest…”
“I am answering your question!” You screamed as you stood up from the chair and glared at him. “You are the one not listening. I am not a killer. I made an oath to do no harm when I became a doctor in the early 1900’s. I made an unofficial oath to protect the people of this world from all enemies, foreign and domestic when I became an Avenger. If I really wanted to kill someone, I wouldn’t have done those things. I would have used the skills HYDRA beat into me to avoid detection like I did when I was under HYDRA’s thumb and kept on killing after HYDRA’s fall. I was a ghost, Mr. Ross. I am CHOOSING to not live that life anymore. And at this point in my existence, it is my choice to make.” Ross looked a little too stunned for words and you could see the jury shaking beside you as you sat back down in your chair. You went to adjust your shirt for something to do with your hands, but finally noticed that your claws had come out in your anger. You retracted them quickly and flushed hard as a smile stretched across Everett’s face.
“No further questions.” He said, cryptically as he walked over and took a seat. You groaned to yourself and covered your face with your hands for a moment before getting up to go back to the defense table.
“It’s alright.” Mike said softly as he reached out to take your hand to give it a gentle squeeze, but you quickly pulled away from him to cover your red face again. The judge called for a recess until the next day for closing arguments, and you shook your head as tears welled in your eyes.
“They have to convict me now.” You breathed as you stood up to go back to your jail cell hotel room for the night.
“Not a chance in hell.” Mike stated, overconfidently, which only made you shake your head as you took Bucky’s hand.
“You need to go to Wakanda, now.” You tried again, but your husband shook his head.
“We aren’t there yet.” He claimed, but you and the Wolf did not agree one bit.
——
“How long does this usually take?” Steve asked as you sat in the court room on day 5 of jury deliberations.
“It can take anywhere from a few minutes, to as long as they need.” Mike said to you as he looked up from his phone to the group of you that were sitting around, waiting for the jury to come back with a verdict. “Days, weeks… eventually, if they can’t come to an agreement it may go to a mistrial.”
“Goddamn it…” You groaned as you sat back in your chair and covered your face with your hands. “Never should have gotten that angry.”
“You’re going to be alright, doll.” Bucky tried as he reached over the partition and squeezed your shoulder as the bailiff finally said the jury was ready. Your stomach dropped and you sat up in your chair as the judge told the bailiff to bring the jury in. Every moment felt like an eternity, but before you knew it, you were standing beside Mike as the jury foreman opened the paper in his hand.
“On the charges of murder of the first degree of Howard Stark, how do you find?”
“We, the jury, find the defendant… not guilty.” The air rushed out of your lungs and you instantly collapsed back in your seat as the judge called out the next murder case you were being charged with.
“Not guilty”
“Not guilty”
“Not guilty”
“Not guilty”
Over and over again, the jury called out a “not guilty” verdict and you couldn’t believe your ears. Tears poured down your face and relief filled your soul to the brim as your whole world rightened once again. When the last “not guilty” verdict was read, you turned in your spot and wrapped your husband in your arms and cried into his shoulder as he simply rubbed your back and whispered sweet reassurances in your ear. You didn’t hear the rest of anything that was said, other than that the case against you was dismissed. The second the gavel dropped, you were over the partition and practically dragging Bucky out of the room.
“Easy, doll.” Bucky laughed as he pulled back on your hand so you would slow down. You shook your head but paused just long enough to get your ankle monitor off.
“I need my daughter, and I need to get the hell out of here.”
“We’re going.” He promised as you adjusted your pants leg. “We can go anywhere you want to go, I promise.”
“I just want to go home.” You breathed with tears in your eyes as you stopped to search his face.
“Then home it is.”
~~~~~~~~~
Once you were home safe in Stark Tower, you couldn’t get the man’s face out of your head that pointed a gun at your daughter. So you did what any rational person would have done- you hunted him down.
Brett Miller was a single man, living in Maryland outside of DC with no family, no pets, no friends or even close neighbors- nothing that would lead you to believe that anyone would come looking for the Winter Wolf if you went through with what you wanted to. Bucky saw the feral look in your eyes when you were doing your research and surprisingly didn’t say anything to try to stop you. But someone did have something to say.
“The fuck are you doing here, Natasha?” You asked under your breath as you hid in the bushes behind Miller’s house at three in the morning.
“You’re not going in alone.” She whispered as she slid between two trees, dressed in her Black Widow outfit.
“Fuck off.” You grumbled as you stood up and silently crept toward the back door with a small duffle bag of things you would need on your shoulder. Your full Winter Wolf get up felt like a second skin and you let her take over your mind for a moment, but Natasha grabbed your arm and pulled you back into the shadows.
“Let me help you.” She hissed, as you yanked your arm free of her grip.
“Go to hell.”
“No.”
“Yes.”
“I’m helping whether you like it or not.” She breathed as she walked past you to disable Miller’s security alarm and cameras. You couldn’t help but roll your eyes and follow her. After a few moments she nodded her head and gestured you forward.
“I don’t need fucking back up.” You tried as you walked over and unlocked the back door, but your temporary partner simply shushed you. With another eye roll, you silently snuck into the house and headed upstairs where Miller was sleeping. He was only in a pair of boxers, sleeping spread eagle in the middle of his bed, and you quickly moved over and started tying him to the bed. Nat saw what you were doing and helped, making sure Brett didn’t escape once he woke up. His eyes bulged when you slapped him awake, and he instantly scrambled to get away when he saw you looming over his bed.
“You fucked up, Brett.” You said evenly through the mask that hid the lower part of your face. “You pointed a gun at my child. And no one points a gun at my child and lives to tell the tale.”
“P-p-please…” His words stopped abruptly when you pulled the knife strapped to your thigh out of the holster and held it up to his throat.
“P-p-p… man up. You know what you did.” You went to drag the blade across his throat to start his torture, but the Wolf froze just long enough for your senses to be slammed with the ‘Good Night, Moon’ song. You whipped around and looked at Natasha, who looked unapologetic as she held her phone up with the song playing softly.
“You don’t have to do this.” She said softly as she searched what she could see of your eyes through the goggles you had on. “Ana wouldn’t want this.”
“Take her name out of your fucking mouth.” You hissed back as you looked back down at your mark, who was looking between the pair of you with wide eyes.
“Don’t do this, (Y/N).” With a loud growl, you pulled the gun from your hip and pointed it at her, but that was the wrong move to make. In the split second you turned away, Natasha put a bullet in Brett Miller’s forehead for you. You froze and looked at her in complete shock, but she simply shrugged. “You are not the Winter Wolf any more. You are a mother, and a wife. You don’t need the blood on your hands or the nightmares of a kill anymore than you already have.”
“You had no right.”
“I know.” She said with a nod as she started untying Brett’s body from the bed. “But you deserve a life of happiness. Not one of violence. Go home to your family, (Y/N). I’ve got it from here.”
“Natasha…”
“I said go.” She repeated, which made you sigh and concede. You put your weapons away and packed the rope back up as she headed down stairs and severed the gas line behind the stove. The pair of you slipped out of the house and ran to your respective cars as the house blew up behind you. Your mind raced all the way back to the Tower, and you ignored the dozen calls you got from your temporary partner on the way. It wasn’t until you were home again, did you speak to anyone.
“How’d it go?” Bucky asked quietly as he sat on the bed, watching TV and just waiting for you to come home.
“Natasha killed him.”
“Say what now?” He asked as he looked over at you with his eyebrows raised. “Natasha went with you?”
“Natasha followed me to Miller’s.” You sighed as you started stripping out of your gear. “She took the kill shot when I hesitated.”
“Oh, baby…”
“I was gunna do it, you know.” You snapped angrily. “It was my kill to take.”
“And she didn’t want the blood on your hands.” Natasha said as she walked into your room, completely uninvited. You scowled as she stopped just in the door way and crossed her arms over her chest. “You can hate me all you want, my star, but I will always, always protect you. I will always love you and nothing you say or do will make me stop. But we both know that had you go through with that as Dr. (Y/N) Barnes and not the Winter Wolf, you never would have forgiven yourself for it. You never would have been able to look Ana in the face again without feeling guilty. I didn’t want that for you. So I took the shot. And I’d do it all over again to protect you. You are not the Winter Wolf anymore.” With a small nod, she turned on her heel and went to leave the room, but you sighed and rolled your eyes.
“Thank you.” She paused and looked back over her shoulder at you with a small nod.
“You’re welcome.” With one more glance at Bucky, she turned back around and headed back to her room to go to bed after a long couple days of driving. You groaned loudly and went to run your fingers through your hair, but it was still braided down your back.
“Get it off.” You huffed as you looked down at your outfit and felt your stomach turn. “Bucky help me…”
“OK, OK.” He said as he leapt to his feet and helped you get your old uniform off. When you were standing in just your underwear, you burst into tears and collapsed into his arms.
“I couldn’t do it.” You sobbed as you let him lead you over to the bed. “I froze. I couldn’t do it.”
“It’s OK, doll. It’s all over. It’s OK.” He kept whispering the same sweet nothings over and over as you cried, until there wasn’t anymore tears to shed.
“She was right.” You whispered as you hid your face against his throat. “I’m not the Winter Wolf anymore.”
“I know.” He agreed as he ran his fingers up and down your bare back. “And that’s OK.” It took a moment or two for those words to really sink in before you sat up and looked at him with red, puffy eyes.
“I’m not the Winter Wolf anymore.” You repeated with a small smile and a shake of your head. “I’m just (Y/N). I’m a mother, a wife, and a good person. I’m not the Winter Wolf anymore.” He smiled and cupped your jaw in his hand with a nod of agreement.
“No, baby girl. You’re the love of my life. You are definitely not the Winter Wolf anymore.”
The End.

I wrote an update last month about what was going on in the Thatcher-verse and I think I might make it a monthly thing. It will give my followers a chance to see what I have coming up.
March was a good month for me. My writing went well and my personal life seemed to be steady on the good side of things. I’ve learned I’ll need to move next year, but I’ve got time. But if you are looking to read any of my books, this would be a great time to make a purchase. I need to start saving to make the move next year.
Amazon is where most people find my books, so here’s a link to my catalogue: https://www.amazon.com/stores/Sadie-Thatcher/author/B00B4MINAC
Smashwords is a great place to buy books, especially if you don’t like Amazon’s evil empire. You can find them here: https://www.smashwords.com/profile/view/sadiethatcher
Plus, you can find them at the Google Play bookstore: https://play.google.com/store/books/author?id=Sadie+Thatcher
Additionally, my books are available through Apple, Barnes & Noble, Kobo, and Scribd. I don’t have links to those stores handy, but if that’s where you like to buy books from, my books will show up there, eventually. I distribute through Smashwords and have to wait until the review team there approves my books for distribution. This can take days or even a week.
I should also mention that I’m also writing fantasy novels right now under the name Libby Feron. I am currently editing my next novel that I’m planning to release May 2 (there’s a chance I’ll delay, but I’m trying hard to get the book ready). That’s less than a month away now. If fantasy is your thing, take a look at my novels here: https://www.amazon.com/stores/Libby-Feron/author/B09PJ9J5RN
And if you sign up for the Libby Feron newsletter, you get exclusive content and updates like cover reveals before anyone else. I’m planning to write a few bonus scenes for my current series that will be exclusive to newsletter subscribers. You can sign up here: https://libbyferon.com/newsletter/
With the fantasy novel plug complete, let me also mention some of the cool stories I have coming out this month.
I’ve got two more books featuring TG in the Bimbo Beach Series coming your way. I will be submitting the second book Sunday (4/9) and the third next weekend.
I also have a new series featuring political corruption and bimbos coming soon. It will feature a shadowy cabal that uses bimbos as pawns to gain power, either through blackmail or as a carrot to entice good politicians to turn bad.
Toward the end of April, I plan to begin a series based on a reality TV show. I don’t have a lot of details yet, but expect to see that in the last few days of the month
I’ve also got a commission in the pipeline that should be good. It won’t actually see the light until May, but I’ll begin writing it this month. Multiple transformations and lots of lesbian sex in this one.
Finally, the days of Fake It Until You Make It being available on Amazon Kindle Vella are numbered. I have requested the story come down from Vella so that I may publish it in other forms, including turning it into an audiobook. I don’t expect anything to happen on this until early June, but this is your warning to download those episodes now so you can read them at your leisure.

I found the exact car & spec I wanted for a great price on autotrader, the sales video from Josh Brown was excellent & very thorough, I was sold! The only problem was it was 200 miles away in Buckinghamshire. Turned out not to be a problem at all! After a phone call with Josh I was so pleased to discover how simple it would be to have the car delivered to me and all the admin completed online. Josh was so knowledgeable & lovely to deal with & sent me another video highlighting ANY little flaws (it’s a 4 year old car after all). This, along with their excellent reviews reassured me I was making a safe purchase. I couldn’t be happier!

Your Best Car will be your best dealership!
This dealership is one of the most professional car dealers I have ever dealt with. Cars are all in excellent condition and the site is kept very smart and tidy. I dealt with a salesman called Jamie who was excellent all the way through the buying process. The after care is also brilliant. I got a call from Jamie a couple of days after collecting my car to make sure I was still happy with it and if I had any further questions. Top service!

Outstanding experience.
I have brought for myself and family members several cars from Your Best Car (High Wycombe) The service and car presentation has always been first class. I saw a Range Rover being sold by YBC in Kent. The experience from YBC in Kent was no different to High Wycombe. In fact I brought the car without seeing it. The car was delivered to High Wycombe and again the vehicle presentation was better than expected. A company I would recommend for hassle free vehicle purchasing.

Great service
The service is great; they came to pick me up at the train station! The team also spent a lot of time helping me out with this first UK car purchase (road tax, resident permit, insurance, ULEZ, etc.) The car looks fantastic. We need a little bit of time to get used to right-hand driving on the left side of the road, but hopefully, we'll succeed. ;-)

Had a great buying experience..
Had a great buying experience with your best car bucks, josh is a good man, seemed very genuine when talking to him, the cars really nice, not perfect paint work but most of it was pointed out in video appraisal. They got me in a nice car just about within my budget and I would happily reccomend them to friends and family and in a few years I may well see what they have in exchange. Communication was good, buying process was straightforward I hope the car is as good as the service in the long run. No complaints from me.

Bought a 2016 Audi Q3 from Your Best Car February 2024. Was a little wary about not being able to have a test drive, but the car was what I wanted, low mileage, apparently good condition, some warranties available. So decided to give it a go. Whole process was actually very positive from initial enquiry through negotiation on trade in to seeing the car and completing the transaction. Viewing by appointment only, so an unhurried sales meeting, never felt under pressure. The car was shown inside and out, key controls demonstrated, engine turned over. The drive home was great, its early days but so far so good. The Q3 is smooth ride, firmer than the Qashqai, but the engine and road noise much less so all round a really good driving experience.

Highly recommend
I recently purchased my Nissan Juke from Jamie and I couldn’t be happier! Jamie made things super easy and efficient for me and I was able to drive away that day! The cars available have clearly been looked after and cared for by the team and I feel confident to contact them should I ever experience any issues. I would highly recommend this team if you’re looking to upgrade! Thanks Jamie!

I would highly recommend
I would highly recommend purchasing a car from Your Best Car. Josh and Shane are a joy to deal with and in my experience was very chilled, relaxed and not at all pushy in anyway. My wife and I are very pleased with are Mercedes and we wouldn't hesitate returning again in the future. Your First Car are very transparent in what they do which puts you at ease throughout the buying process. I had a couple of minor issues with the car but Josh was very quick to rectify this which was peace of mind. Aftercare so far has been brilliant. Each vehicle they sell has a video explaining the features in detail on their website and also YouTube. All the best Josh and Shane.

Contacted sales team about a car and…
Contacted sales team about a car and over initial calls we outlined terms of a deal that included part exchange of my own car. In the next 24 hours, with each call or message, the terms and conditions of the deal kept creeping and changing with the price of the car going up by £1500 and us being asked to collect the car rather than it being delivered. We clearly could not make the purchase on this basis and the whole thing felt a little unprofessional and manipulated.

Don’t look at any other dealers until you have checked this company out.
This is the 2nd car I have purchased from Your Best Car. I couldn’t recommend them enough. All cars are described accurately with very detailed videos and pictures. Great communication throughout the process makes the whole car buying experience a breeze. Main dealers good really learn something from these guys. Highly recommended.

Very positive experience selling my car to Your Best Car!
This is my first experience doing business with 'Your Best Car' and they have earned my trust to work with them again! Andrew Woolger was my contact and he was polite, knowledgeable and professional. From first contact to completing the sale, all communications were completely transparent and fair. My past experiences has lead me to believe that selling your car is time consuming and painful. Not with 'Your Best Car', it was quick and painless. Would highly recommend!

Sales guys very helpful and friendly
Sales guys very helpful and friendly. This was a distance purchase so did not see the car prior to them delivering it. In general the car itself was really nice, just a few minor gripes, non of which were addressed. One resulted in me having to take the car to my local dealer for repairs. It was still under manufacturers warranty so only a small cost involved (not refunded). I guess in summary pre sales great, after sales not so...

Day 17 Several photographic perspectives on a cruise ship
I woke up this morning and as usual looked out the balcony windows, and did a double take, A huge cruise liner backing in to dock! According to some people I randomly spoke to later in the day, there were two yesterday, but I missed them as I was out of town. Today's plan was to collect my tiles and then there was no plan. I was going to have dinner with Rosie (of Halifax) tonight, but she wasn't feeling well, so we've delayed until tomorrow night.
I decided to go to the Marina to see if I could catch the water taxi across to Ferragudo with no expectations, as there wasn't much info online. Their last post in February saying they were back from their Christmas break. So for a start, I confidently headed in the wrong direction! Luckily I asked a lovely looking man early, as it was heating up outside. Once I got to the point I realised I had to ring to book. The man on the other end of the phone said "it is a taxi!" I'm sure he was thinking "stupid tourist!"
It was a pleasant crossing to Ferragudo (€9 return) and I was warmly met by the lovely Carla, the tile painting teacher. We had a brief chat about her upcoming holiday to Shanghai, she shared more food recommendations with me, gave me a hug and I was on my way.
While I waited for the return ferry I caught a glimpse of the life of the local fishermen. It was fascinating watching their weathered bodies. The men who caught the fish left their small vessel soon after docking and different men then pulled the nets off the boat and untangled the fish. I have no doubt some of that fish would be served locally, the coals were burning on BBQs nearby.
Given the water taxi could drop me off closer to town, my plan was then to try the old world, charming looking, Casa da Isabella for their traditional Portuguese cakes, but sadly they were closed (they were open yesterday, hmmm). I then diverted to find a dress shop I'd been in a few days ago, as I'd noticed a pleated tule skirt that I wanted to try on. And sold!
I then decided an early lunch would be good and went to the highly recommended Churrasqueira Guerreiro for piri piri chicken, but they are still closed for the holidays, omg! Ok, next stop Aqua Mall for the café in the supermarket, which is a thing here. And I wasn't disappointed, I had a pretty delicious amount of smoked salmon in a grain roll and a pastel de nata tarte for €5.19! And then another stop at the discounted section of that supermarket, damn they've run out of the dark chocolate brown rice cakes, so I purchased the dark chocolate oat rice cakes, €1 for 8 in each packet. They're quite addictive.
I spent the next hour or so finding a top and earrings to go with my new tule skirt and pending the weather I may wear it on my date with Rosie tomorrow night or save it for the Michelin star restaurant I've booked in a couple of weeks. The weather is quite warm during the day, ie I felt sweat running down my legs waiting for the water taxi at 10.15am, but then I just had the heaters on!
I've given up on decent coffee in Portimaõ. The best I can do to replicate a latte in Australia is to ask for a cappuccino with no chocolate at 67° and then I even forget my own instructions!
After getting the opening hours of the mercado wrong, I head to Crystal's recommended hairdresser. Crystal was the American woman I met with Brenda last week at The Chicken Tavern. Giselle can fit me in on 4th May and a regrowth is just €29.
Back to the gym, booked into Ricardo's TRX class, but Ricardo is not there, damn that. I will get that photo soon.
I've finished Scoop, now onto The Beautiful Game.
Tomorrow I have my much needed third Portuguese lesson in Alvor. Just to properly pronounce the names of each village in the Algarve would be helpful! Apparently learning new skills is useful as we age. I'm thinking maybe I'll find a language school in Brisbane. After Carla reminded me today that Macau used to be under Portuguese administration until 1999, I googled where Portuguese is spoken and some of these places are on my list....Portuguese is currently the fifth most spoken language in the world and an official language of Portugal, Brazil, Angola, Cabo Verde, Guinea-Bissau, Mozambique, São Tomé and Príncipe and East Timor. It is also used in Macau and in Goa.
Talking about new skills and thrills, I've booked a sea kayak experience next Tuesday at 7am with Filipe Tidy to go into the Benagil Caves. He was another recommendation off a FB post. The woman said her kayak flipped and she lost her phone into the ocean. That's not exactly the experience I'm paying for. I did have some text banter with Filipe today and he thinks, given they are double kayaks "probably you join me". And he said "until now everyone survived" and then he said "I am lifeguard so you lucky". I responded with "I'll probably die from a heart attack first after all the bread and cheese and oil I've eaten".

Growing Potatoes
When my children were young we grew a crop of potatoes. The harvest was like a treasure hunt for my sons. Then about fifteen years ago I purchased some small Klamath Pearl potatoes at a local organic food coop and planted them (against the best advice). They grew well and we enjoyed the modest take.
With a seasonal gap between cool season and warm season crops it was time to plant the Yukon Gem seed potatoes I ordered last fall from San Diego Seed Company. They’ve been “chitting” in an egg carton in a bright window for many weeks. Chitting is pre-sprouting your potatoes before planting for stronger, quicker stands and higher yields.
Finally, there were enough sprouts to prepare them for planting. I would have preferred more sprouts but it took six weeks to get this many and I wanted to get them planted. I decided to plant them in containers after reading several sources. My soil mixture was roughly one third each of organic potting soil, my compost and garden soil with a mix-in of some organic vegetable fertilizer.
Yukon Gem potatoes are a determinate variety and produce their tubers in a single layer below the soil surface. Here are the instructions I followed: “Fill your container to about a third of the way up. Pop two seed potatoes on top, then add another third of your mix. Add another two potatoes, staggering the position relative to the first layer so that the foliage isn’t all growing in the same position. Then fill the container to the top with your potting mix.” (GrowVeg.com)
Since the tubers form near the surface, I covered the soil with leaf mulch after watering and set them in a sunny location.
I found this blog post very useful. Only one caveat—the potato varieties listed are those suitable for the United Kingdom where the blog originates.
Potato Growing Masterclass: My Tips for a Bigger, Better Harvest
Check local nurseries, Extension Master Gardeners or Sunset Western Garden Book of Edibles for potato varieties suitable for your area. In USDA Zones 9 and 10 plant potatoes February through May. Many online sources appear to have sold out of seed potatoes, but check local nurseries. There’s always next year.
Here’s the description of Yukon Gem potatoes from High Mowing Seeds. Many sources recommend Yukon Gem over Yukon Gold for yields and disease resistance.
Bright gold skin, pink-hued eyes, yellow flesh and the same delicious flavor as its parent Yukon Gold.
Our first late blight resistant potato! Round to oval tubers mature about 10 days later than Yukon Gold and are significantly higher yielding, especially in wet conditions. Smooth tan skin and dense, buttery yellow flesh for baking, boiling and frying. Originally developed in 1994 by a team at North Dakota State University.

TGIWednesday: The eyes have it!
TGIWednesday News
I genuinely hope that your new year is off to a fresh start. I know time is a construct, but we can use it constructively as a way to mark positive achievements. Often clients want to tell me about parents, or a spouse passing 11 years ago on this date and can name the dates of all of their past MRI’s. All of the past was necessary, but the more you can erase that from your overthinking/all-consuming brain, the better off you’ll be. It’s fine to note it on medical, legal forms or in a scrap book, but as much as you can stay clear yes, unclear no and running forward - I believe you’ll have a much more stable and forward thinking life! "The eyes have it" is a simple play on words for the pictures below. These pictures are before, during and after my dear friend Gosia (there are only a handful of healers in the world I would ask to work on me, and she's one of them! www.gosialorenz.com) These results occured over 9 days of nightly prayers (your results may vary as I like to say) but we do our level best in prayer services in silence here nightly to co-create profound changes.
