stuff about an au fic where they go on the Camino that I haven't started (and won't until next year) but am seriously considering writing, and I know I've mentioned it before, but--

so I've half-joked about writing a fic where Catra and Adora go on the Camino. A good portion of it would, obviously, be based on my own experiences. They'd be sleeping in the same albergues I did, doing the same km per day. Like I'd literally be going through my tweets and facebook posts (...which is why I literally can't even start the fic until late April of next year, when those posts come up in my fb memories lol, I'd be copy/pasting my posts into the doc to use as inspo), and tbh I could probably even hotlink some of my photos (...the ones that don't have me in them) into the fic

And I already know how I'd structure it, to some extent--there'd be really upbeat "blog posts" Adora writes in first person mixed into swapping 3rd person limited scenes.

What's funny to me is that, of course, the first time I thought of this I asked myself: why the FUCK would Catra do the Camino? and of course the answer is "because Adora asked her to," and obviously they're not a couple at the start of the fic and are by the end lol

(do they have their first kiss in the square in front the cathedral in Santiago de Compostela, or do they do it earlier than that? hmmmm. either way it'll be fun to write them lying in separate bunks at some albergue or another, struggling to sleep because they're thinking about each other. the next morning they both blame a loud snorer for their lack of sleep.)L

OKAY ANYWAY so here's the thing I worry about:

I did, in fact, do the Camino in part for religious reasons. I went to mass as often as I could, I prayed the rosary most days, I prayed for people I knew all the time, I did morning prayer in both big and tiny churches, and evening prayer sometimes. And some of the most profound experiences of my Camino were faith-related.

And......I don't know how to work those in, or if I should.

Catra I figured out first, she'd be a lapsed Catholic with very mixed feelings about God and The Church. I know a lot of people like that.

And the temptation is to just make Adora an Episcopalian, like me. Or even just someone who grew up Episcopalian, and she's not sure if she's Christian necessarily, but she has neutral-to-good feelings about it.

BUT. My worry is that if I include some of my own experiences re: faith, it's going to sound like I'm evangelizing to people.

Which is not the point of the fic, obviously!

I dunno. I am probably over-thinking this. I feel like I can just write an author's note that's like: "Hi, I'm not trying to convert anyone; but this fic is based on my own experiences, and so I included some of the religious stuff."

Some of those experiences I've rarely shared with people, because they're hella personal. (I think I've posted about them to the Episcopal subreddit and that's it.) Like some of them I don't even think I've told my partner. So it's...kinda weird to put them in a fictional story with a focus on the romance?

But also there's stories from my Camino that I can already figure out how to work into the fic--

Like the time a few of us got into a, uh, vigorous discussion about religion at the dinner of an albergue in Navarette, and it was mmmmostly this Korean-Australian dude who was bordering on anti-theist, arguing with a woman from Texas who was a "non-denominational" evangelical. And I kept trying to butt in to point out that there's another way of looking at a lot of the things they were arguing about, but it was difficult because I could barely get a word in edgewise. And by the time we were all done eating, I got so frustrated I stood up fast (and my chair made a hideous scraping noise on the floor) and everyone stared at me as I announced "SO ANYWAY I'M GOING TO CHURCH" and walked off. And I did go to the church, which was open, but they weren't having mass that day, so I just whipped out my phone and the Venite app and did evening prayer and then just sat for a bit admiring the HUGE retablo and trying to identify the saints/biblical stories.

^literally that one! Look at it. It's INSANE. The full-sized image was too big for tumblr lol. Also I can spot St James, and Mary being crowned Queen of Heaven, and baby Jesus being presented at the temple, among other stuff.

I just want to point out: Navarette is small. And yet. Look at that fucking retablo--the actual altar is at the bottom of the photo. Not every small town had a church that ornate, obviously; some were far smaller and plainer than that. But it was always wild to be in some small town of a few thousand people and it would have a church that was built in the late-medieval era and was far grander than the diocesan cathedral at home.

ANYWAY in my fic it would obviously be Adora trying to get in a word in edgewise and failing and then announcing she's going to church, and Catra would follow shortly after and just silently sit next to her. And then they'd have a discussion about the other people arguing where Adora would be like "well, they each only know the Christianity they grew up with," and Catra's like "they don't have to be assholes about it though," and then Adora's shushing her like "omg don't say things like that in a church" but she's giggling.

Ugh. I just. I don't want to write a fic where the plot ends up being "Adora and/or Catra find God." Especially given how much of the show's plot was in response to Nate's religious trauma. The fact that his trauma is from conservative Calvinism wouldn't make it any less shitty.

Lots and LOTS of non-religious people do the Camino. In fact, the people there for religious reasons are absolutely the minority these days, even if lots of other people would say "spiritual" reasons. So it wouldn't be inaccurate to leave most of the religious stuff out.

(I've repeatedly joked: The Camino is a long walk about Jesus. The amount of Jesus is optional to some extent, but if any Jesus bothers you, the Camino might not be the long walk for you.)

ANYWAY I have like six months to think about this before I could start writing it lol

would it be cringe for me to post one-shots of my sapphic bodyswap medieval novel's OCs on ao3 and link them on here...? i know ao3 is mostly a fanfic site and not original fiction lol. but i think it might help me flesh out the characters a bit more before i actually tackle on the main plot and everything. i'm wary of posting too much about it on here though bc idk, i don't wanna clog your dashes with OC/fiction stuff :/ i know this is a mainly radfem writing blog.....

How long have you been in fandom?

Like the current one? By the end of July 2023 I posted my first Kyoshi novels fanart and maybe one month earlier I started rebloging and commenting on posts from others, this was after I read the novels and I jumped into their fandom and then in the procces I've also got into tlok and atla (I enjoyed them way earlier but I just didn't participate in their fandoms)

Your favorite trope in fiction?

HMMMmmm Grumpy serious stoick ish x chaotic more fun (and other antonyms that matches first character idk) (whatever heituat has going on))), expressive women with strong personalities, girlfailures<3, severe stern ruthless etcetc women but caring deep down inside (optional), morally gray characters, and I'm just a little obssesed with mother daughter relationships in fiction if that counts as a trope

Your favorite random fact?

That might be well known idk, but sometimes for a video game character they'll hire one person as only just face model, and then differnt person as voice and acting/motion capture

Must feel weird and funny when you basically see yourself in video game doing stuff you didn't do speaking with a different voice

Your favorite game or kind of game?

Now I don't really play video games myself but since I've watched Until Dawn gameplay yeaaaars ago I still like to watch playthroughts of those choice based horror games (the quarry, devil in me, resident evil etc), and later I watch other playthroughts for different choices outcomes scenes etcetccc, The games can be kinda stupid but fun, alsooo playthroughts of adventure games(???), I usually watch them when I eat something

Also CHECK OUT "STRAY"!! I only watched playthrought too but it looks so cool, you basically play as a cat (they did good job with motion capture, feels like real cat moves and it looks so fun to play) and you're in a world when humans no longer exist and there are cool looking robots, you can stratch walls and make robots pet you but I promise it's not just that lolol it has an actual plot and wordbuilding

Aside video games I like chess but I suck big time, but for my defence I mostly played with my friend who sucks even more aHA, we downlanded one chess app for two players and played during some classes

I think I'm just interested in 3d models and graphics hehhh I like 3d modeling

There's also a game called Hades, and this one I actually started playing myself, not the kind of games I'm usually into (roguelike),but friend got me it and! The character designs are very cool

Hmmmm... My favorite definitely has to be comedy. Even though I love imaginative settings, they don't matter as much as long as it's not sad or overly scary owo. I am weak, One Piece is as much sadness as I can handle, truthfully. It's a different situation though when it comes to rp, in that case BRING IN THE ANGST. But I still would love to write other genres, because those are practically AUs and my love for AUs is UNDYING.

14. which roleplay community has been your favorite to write in?

ONE PIECE RPC WITHOUT A QUESTION. Guys, you have no idea how FREAKING GOOD YOU HAVE IT!!! You all are so chill and nice and accepting and supporting! I was shocked to find how absolutely delightful everyone I know in this RPC is. I spent about 7 years of my life in a different RPC where drama, favoritism and cliques were so prominent, you had no choice but to participate even subtly in yearly drama, keep your blog to an incredibly high standard of appearance and rp as one of like 5 most popular characters in the fandom. ONLY THEN you had a chance to be noticed and accepted into a clique that would rp with you. One Piece RPC is like a breath of fresh air for me now. I feel so seen and chill here just the way a hobby with friends should be. Thank you guys for making the OP RPC such a delightful place to be in <33

2. Is there a trope you’ve yet to try your hand at, but really want to?

Hmmm!!! When it comes to agere I really do want to try more AUs with agere: like a ghost!caregiver AU or an adoption!AU or even a dark!fic like serial killers or something (I think fictional regressors should get to be scary villains as a treat, as much as I think scary villains also deserve blanket forts as a treat)

3. Is there a trope you wouldn’t touch with a ten foot pole?

Hmmmm!!! I feel like my limits would be a lot more relevant to a blog where I did not sfw work, but as far as agere fics go, I don't thiiiink there's anything I hate to write?

I don't like to play into the idea that you need a caregiver, so anything around "oh you're a regressor without a caregiver? you must need saving" is not something I would write. OH! Also I won't write mafia fics, it's a personal squick.

3. how long have you been on tumblr? i think i first joined when it was in beta in like 2009! i didnt really know how to use it though. i used it intermittently over the years to post silly poetry and save stuff from the internet i enjoyed. i never really interacted with anyone or understand how that worked. i made a new account in 2020 when i got interested in fandom stuff during pandemic lockdown times..

5. why did you start your blog in the first place? well i answered that above kind of ... i've always sort of gotten weird obsessed with whatever i'm watching or reading, no one else i knew really had the same level and that i remember during the first weeks of lockdown searching stuff on what i was watching instead of bothering uninterested people about it and ended up on tumblr looking at fan art of zuko and sokka :P and all these people losing it over fictional characters i was like ... i think i'm home? so i got a tumblr to participate in it more.

6. why did you choose your icon/pfp? my name is from wei wuxian so i wanted a pic of him! he was sort of my main blorbo at the time making this account, and he truly captured my heart when he was all red-eyed insane with rage playing his demon flute

Rewatching The Monster at the End of this Book

Welcome to “The One with All the Plot Holes: A Supernatural Rewatch Blog” with Lor and Mace!

Up today, s4e18: The Monster at the End of This Book

The boys discover that there’s a series of books out there that, despite being catalogued as fiction novels, are essentially a chronicle of their lives. Needless to say, it weirds them out. They find the dude who’s writing them and ask him, sort of kindly, to stop. Enter Cas, who tells them that Chuck is a prophet and to leave him be to do his thing. None of this, of course, makes any sense once Chuck is later in the show trotted back out as capital-g god. Best to just let go and let Jack with this one. Otherwise your head may asplode.

Below is a log of our real-time reactions as we watched. Remember that there may be spoilers for any part of SPN’s 15-season run here. Note also that the nature of our conversation is adult and thus it may contain adult language and themes.

Andy’s alarm went off at 6, he stretched his arms and smiled when he saw his girl laying right next to him, her naked form cover by the duvet, her hair a complete mess after their last night shenanigans, he bent, kissed her forehead, and headed to his closet to change for his morning run.

Annie woke up when she heard the water running in the shower. It was around 7:10 when she started to make a new pot of coffee; she then went to the pantry took a couple of eggs, and some slices of bread.

“Good morning, honey!” Andy was walking arranging his tie, the smell of cologne filling her nostrils when he approached to kiss her.

“Good morning!” she kissed him back “I made you breakfast. Eggs, bacon, and toasts with butter.” She handed him a steamy cup of coffee.

Annie serve him a plate and they both enjoy their company while they were eating.

“Jake’s coming back today right?” Annie asked.

“Yes, Mrs. Lopez said around 6 or 7, still she will let me now when they enter the state.”

“Are we going to tell Jake we are together?”

“Of course! Unless you don’t want me to, we can always wait, to see how things progress.”

“No, I think is a good idea to tell him.” Annie drank her juice “So, ammm can I tell my brother and friends about us?”

“Yes, you can.”

“Thank you!” Annie jumped to his arms spilling the cup of coffee on Andy's perfect white shirt. “Shit! Oh my god! I’m so sorry.”

“It’s alright honey, I still can change.”

“Oh god! That’s gonna leave a stain. Take it off, so I can wash it, or at least presoak it.”

Andy stood up, taking his dress shirt slowly not breaking eye contact with her, he perfectly knew his chest made her weak.

“There you go.” Andy said giving her the piece of clothing.

“Thank… thank you. Be right back, go get change.”

Annie went to the laundry room, filling a bucket with warm water and putting a cap of liquid detergent in it. She leave it there a couple of minutes and then took the shirt out to rubbed the fabric right were the stain was. Andy came back to find Annie leaning trying to clean his shirt, a peak of her ass could be seen from under the t-shirt she was wearing.

hmmmm… books…. if youre looking for nonfiction, i’d recommend astrophysics for people in a hurry by neil degrasse tyson! it’s super informative, but explained in a funny way that makes it easy to understand :)

if you’re looking for science fiction, i’d recommend andy weir’s books, particularly the martian and project hail mary! his books are extremely accurate when it comes to the science involved, and the internal narrative of the main characters is hilarious. those two are definitely two of my favorite books ever, and i VERY highly recommend them :)

and yes!! i love moons!! my two favorites are europa and titan, but honestly all the moons in our solar system are fascinating :D

You have caught me in a conundrum where I love making lists and ordering things but hate being unfair and slighting the emotions of fictional characters - but I'll try!

I haven't thought about any ranks before, and I'm definitely also just. Foxy and Bonnie biased because I have friends/ mutuals who are Foxy and Bonnie biased and li'l old me looked at that and went ah yes, let's develop a fascination with these guys then! (I'm so so sad I can't write pirate. I need to practice pirate. Foxy beloved one day writing you won't scare me, I want the highjinks so bad) (The potential of having any fic with Bonnie facing 'trap makes me go insane. Go look at a rotting version of yourself piloted by a child murderer and try to stay sane about it)

But of the actual Glamrocks we got in SB, I'm hmmmm. I feel like Freddy has an unfair advantage by being a bit of a fool but in a kind way, becoming that father figure as he helps Gregory - I mean, look. Kind dads are my kryptonite and there's a reason I made Freddy as a dad the first Glamrock appearance in my own AU. Doesn't help that I saw all the father figure fanart first before ever seeing any gameplay of SB, oops.

But honestly, next is Chica! She's fun, she's funky, and she might just get me to do a workout! (Though I'm more likely to snag a pizza instead). She's got fun energy, and being an animatronic who eats (trash, of all things, too) just adds an extra layer of hilarity. She just has those nice, easy to get along with vibes, even if her energy might be a bit much for me at times!

How do they get along with the "original" cast? How do they cope with reminders of the old members, any grief the others may feel, and perhaps old fans asking about the replacements?" and maybe I'm just thinking too much about it but hey, the world's my oyster and if I want to ponder their inadequacy issues no one can stop me. Monty with his violence and Bonnie's decommissioning hanging above him. Roxy's arrogance (that smells of overcompensating) as well as just. Roxy. Foxy. They didn't even try to be subtle there. They both have so much potential and I love seeing all the takes on why they are the way they are, for all the Glamrocks actually!

So yeah, not exactly clear cut for a perfect list, but that's my thought process around each of them!

+Now as a bonus I am going to tell my impressions about the guys at the concert and my experience that day (so if you are not interested in this part, skip it).

I didn't see anyone mention this but my theory as to why 127 arrived a day earlier in Colombia and Mexico was because of the altitude difference. One problem that kpop idols (and foreigners) ALWAYS have is the abrupt change in altitude. We start with the fact that Seoul is at 38m, they travel to America (between 24m-225m), then to Chile (570m) and Brazil (760m). BUT THEN they go to Colombia (Bogota) which is at 2625m and Mexico City with 2240m. I remember in 2020 Seventeen brought oxygen tanks to their concert in Mexico City and in the bts video you could see how they were short of air, even some members got sick a day before. The change of altitude makes that kind of stuff happen to them (shortness of breath, dizziness, puking, headache, etc.), so probably the staff decided to send them a day earlier to test that none of them felt too sick to perform.

An unfortunate event that happened the day of the concert was an agglomeration of people in two of the VIP zones (there were 4 zones). This was caused because the promoter of the concert in Mexico sold more tickets than was allowed (the zone I was in was made for 300 people but there were more than 600 of us). This caused that the people who were up to the front were crushing each other, they had a lot of bruises and scratches and several people were taken out because they fainted. The fans were sad because the guys noticed how the audience was doing and looked with concern every time a fan had to be taken out. It was such a big problem to the point that Doyoung and Jungwoo asked us to calm down, but people didn't pay attention to them until Johnny spoke and the fans quieted down to listen to him. I was worried because it was the last concert of their tour but the guys tried their best to make us enjoy until the last moment (:

About my impression of the guys... Taeil looks adorable to a certain extent, I don't know if it's because he's shorter than the others, he looks very chill. In my remarks I said that here we support the underdog, that underdog is Taeil. In 2019 the Mexican fans noticed that Taeil wasn't being hyped in other countries during his tour so they decided that the day of the concert in Mexico he would be the member they would celebrate the most (even if it was not his bias). This year it was the same, obviously the screams were louder with members like Johnny and Jaehyun because they have the most fans but we tried to scream with the same intensity for all the members so no one would feel left out.

Johnny looks TALL, he really looks 186-7cm. He is not my bias nor do I care for him as a member but throughout the concert he gave me a lot of confidence, I thought "Oh, he's a really nice guy". He looked very happy for all the support he was getting from the audience.

Yuta, hmmmm. Usually people say that Yuta looks like he's straight out of an anime, his face is quite attractive but his mannerism is what made me think I was watching a fictional character. It's hard to explain, it's like every movement of his has a characterization, just like characters in anime that have special poses. I didn't feel like I was watching an idol, but the protagonist of a shojo with his flirtatious way of talking.

Taeyong. What can I say? He is a great performer. I couldn't see his face up close but it was quite tender. He was always attentive to the audience directing all the attention to him, kept the fans engaged when they seemed like they had reached their limit. Even though he conveys a lot of peace, his presence is IMPOSING.

Doyoung. He seriously INTIMIDATED me. Don't get me wrong, I mean that in a good way. A while ago someone on the blog mentioned that his facial features are sharp and that person is definitely right! He looks like the mastermind who has control over everything and everyone. It made me feel like I should have a lot of respect for him and if I did something wrong he was going to notice it (after the concert I started calling him father, he impressed me to that extent). I tried to think about Doyoung bunny but all I could see was a FINAL BOSS. He looked like a real expert.

Jaehyun. Even if my friends said he was the "most masculine man they have ever seen", I felt like he was very soft. The only aggressive thing about him was his dancing. Most of the concert he was with a straight face because he was uncomfortable with the agglomeration of people, I think it was until Paradise that he started to relax and became more playful.

Jungwoo. His skills look great in person, his dancing skills are very good but still his presence doesn't feel as piercing as Taeyong’s and Mark’s. I feel like he has the potential but it's like his energy stays in place instead of spreading out.

Mark. I continue to be amazed by his stage presence. Even when he wasn't dancing you had the need to look at him, his every move was precise. Piercing is the perfect word to describe his presence, when the first impact comes it stays with you and you can’t escape anymore. I had to stop for a moment to appreciate the details in his solo and I could only ask myself how does he do it so well?

Idols have strengths and weaknesses. Johnny loves the attention of people, live performances is what makes him keep going. He evidently comes alive during tours on hosting a radio (he is not as enthusiastic about music shows, lives or other duties).

Jungwoo is very sincere in putting effort into dancing and performing, so he looks well in MVs and he is a good model for fashions magazines, however, he is still shy and insecure, not imposing.

Mark the musician is like an entity on its own inside Mark the boy next door. It is easy to see how a sensitive person like Yuta would want a constant change of hairstyles as self-expression and an armour, it's harder to connect a religious pastor's son to the dragon head of recent, heh. I honestly think Mark can beat Taeyong in the number of hair colours and hair styles he tried.

Your summary also highlights that not all concert problems are on SM, the local companies often are to blame as well.

Doyoung is very attuned to the surroundings and he definitely controls the stage (you can often see how other neos look for his signal or turn to him when they have a question). I think editors try to hide his serious side during practices, but sometimes moments slip through (3:04). I won't find the exact bts now, but once he called a practice as over before the choreographer did.

I mean, technically, I did actually work as a museum archivist for several months during and after college, and my library job was technically an archive job. But this is work that is hard to come by, and is often done by unpaid volunteers, and I’d like to be paid.

Currently I work at a job that is nothing that I’d ever want to go to school for, but the pay is good and no one bothers me. That much.

Are you in a relationship? Who is your crush if not?

Yep, I’m in a relationship with my angel, Verzi. Have been since 2016! I do have a fictional crush (Lucian) and celebrity crush (Michael Sheen. Shockingly not David Tennant, but that’s on the grounds that I want to steal David’s gender. Also, Michael’s my type)

What's something you're good at versus something you're bad at?

I think I’m pretty decent at baking and cooking, I greatly enjoy doing these activities, and I think I’m pretty good at writing when I remember to beta my work. However, I’m terrible with time management, but that’s normal for people with ADHD, especially those who are unmedicated. Oh, and I’m HORRIBLE at learning other languages, but, again, that’s related to my ADHD. I’m trying, but it’s never been easy, even from a young age when I lived in Germany.

Dogs or cats?

Both, but maybe I lean a little more on the side of cats because I have three of them

What's something you'd like to create content for?

I dunno, I make stuff for the things I really like all the time, it’s just a matter of actually doing it or not. But then again... there’s this au someone has on twitter that I really like ant for, but I have no idea how to talk to the creator about doing so (mostly it’s a language thing).

What's something you're currently obsessed with?

*gestures in the direction of Good Omens, Doctor Who, Bendy, and the GOEU*

What's something you were excited about that turned out to be disappointing this year?

Hmmmm... work stuff. I legit happy with the work schedule I had gotten, and I was actually starting to get some decent sleep cause I wasn’t always stuck to four night shifts a damn week, but then a coworker threw a fit and quit on the spot over something stupid and now we’re scrambling to figure out how to give everyone enough hours.

What's a hidden talent of yours?

When I was a kid, and my memory issues weren’t as severe as they are now (three comas and adhd will do that to a man), I used to be able to quote, word for word, whole episodes of shows I really liked. From Spongebob to YuGiOh, kids paid me to do these things at recess cause it was entertaining. I can still... sorta do this, but nothing like back in the day.

Nowadays, the only hidden talent I can think of is that I’m double jointed in my hands like my mom, unlike my dad and siblings. They can’t fuck up their fingers like we can (I can even bend my thumb behind my hand)

Are you religious?

I guess? I’m a Methodist (who doesn’t go to church) who also practices Buddhism and looks into the beliefs of Daisim.

What's something you wish to have at this moment?

For someone else to clean out my drawers and closet to get rid of old clothing I don’t want anymore, because right now I’m getting things ready for when I move out of my apartment in a few weeks.

Me: Hmmmm... [Still reeling from all the feels from the Arcane Season 2 finale] ... I can definitely make the epilogue more angsty >:]

Yeah, fun fact! I had originally decided to have an epilogue in a more ambiguous/open ending for the animatic. But, since Arcane left me with so much angst, Imma just channel it into a completely different fandom. I almost feel bad doing it. Almost. Also, while I'm at it, might as well redraw some of the work I'd done.

To give you a hint as to how I'm picturing the atmosphere for the epilogue, I had to ask me self one question: Since the song in chappy 14 is based on Something Entirely New from Steven Universe, what is a song that's the furthest/opposite of a comfy love song? And, while it's not from that one, the artist made a short film that coincidentally shared a name with a character from Steven Universe. Do with that hint what you will. ;)

If it wasn't obvious, I have so much love for this fic, rereading it after a long day at school and rambling about each new chapter to my friend. I can only wish ao3 let me give more kudos since this fic deserves it. Thank you so much for creating it, and I can't wait to see what's next! <3
