Like the current one? By the end of July 2023 I posted my first Kyoshi novels fanart and maybe one month earlier I started rebloging and commenting on posts from others, this was after I read the novels and I jumped into their fandom and then in the procces I've also got into tlok and atla (I enjoyed them way earlier but I just didn't participate in their fandoms)

Your favorite trope in fiction?

HMMMmmm Grumpy serious stoick ish x chaotic more fun (and other antonyms that matches first character idk) (whatever heituat has going on))), expressive women with strong personalities, girlfailures<3, severe stern ruthless etcetc women but caring deep down inside (optional), morally gray characters, and I'm just a little obssesed with mother daughter relationships in fiction if that counts as a trope

Your favorite random fact?

That might be well known idk, but sometimes for a video game character they'll hire one person as only just face model, and then differnt person as voice and acting/motion capture

Must feel weird and funny when you basically see yourself in video game doing stuff you didn't do speaking with a different voice

Your favorite game or kind of game?

Now I don't really play video games myself but since I've watched Until Dawn gameplay yeaaaars ago I still like to watch playthroughts of those choice based horror games (the quarry, devil in me, resident evil etc), and later I watch other playthroughts for different choices outcomes scenes etcetccc, The games can be kinda stupid but fun, alsooo playthroughts of adventure games(???), I usually watch them when I eat something

Also CHECK OUT "STRAY"!! I only watched playthrought too but it looks so cool, you basically play as a cat (they did good job with motion capture, feels like real cat moves and it looks so fun to play) and you're in a world when humans no longer exist and there are cool looking robots, you can stratch walls and make robots pet you but I promise it's not just that lolol it has an actual plot and wordbuilding

Aside video games I like chess but I suck big time, but for my defence I mostly played with my friend who sucks even more aHA, we downlanded one chess app for two players and played during some classes

I think I'm just interested in 3d models and graphics hehhh I like 3d modeling

There's also a game called Hades, and this one I actually started playing myself, not the kind of games I'm usually into (roguelike),but friend got me it and! The character designs are very cool

Hmmmm... My favorite definitely has to be comedy. Even though I love imaginative settings, they don't matter as much as long as it's not sad or overly scary owo. I am weak, One Piece is as much sadness as I can handle, truthfully. It's a different situation though when it comes to rp, in that case BRING IN THE ANGST. But I still would love to write other genres, because those are practically AUs and my love for AUs is UNDYING.

ONE PIECE RPC WITHOUT A QUESTION. Guys, you have no idea how FREAKING GOOD YOU HAVE IT!!! You all are so chill and nice and accepting and supporting! I was shocked to find how absolutely delightful everyone I know in this RPC is. I spent about 7 years of my life in a different RPC where drama, favoritism and cliques were so prominent, you had no choice but to participate even subtly in yearly drama, keep your blog to an incredibly high standard of appearance and rp as one of like 5 most popular characters in the fandom. ONLY THEN you had a chance to be noticed and accepted into a clique that would rp with you. One Piece RPC is like a breath of fresh air for me now. I feel so seen and chill here just the way a hobby with friends should be. Thank you guys for making the OP RPC such a delightful place to be in <33

2. Is there a trope you’ve yet to try your hand at, but really want to?

Hmmm!!! When it comes to agere I really do want to try more AUs with agere: like a ghost!caregiver AU or an adoption!AU or even a dark!fic like serial killers or something (I think fictional regressors should get to be scary villains as a treat, as much as I think scary villains also deserve blanket forts as a treat)

3. Is there a trope you wouldn’t touch with a ten foot pole?

Hmmmm!!! I feel like my limits would be a lot more relevant to a blog where I did not sfw work, but as far as agere fics go, I don't thiiiink there's anything I hate to write?

I don't like to play into the idea that you need a caregiver, so anything around "oh you're a regressor without a caregiver? you must need saving" is not something I would write. OH! Also I won't write mafia fics, it's a personal squick.

3. how long have you been on tumblr? i think i first joined when it was in beta in like 2009! i didnt really know how to use it though. i used it intermittently over the years to post silly poetry and save stuff from the internet i enjoyed. i never really interacted with anyone or understand how that worked. i made a new account in 2020 when i got interested in fandom stuff during pandemic lockdown times..

5. why did you start your blog in the first place? well i answered that above kind of ... i've always sort of gotten weird obsessed with whatever i'm watching or reading, no one else i knew really had the same level and that i remember during the first weeks of lockdown searching stuff on what i was watching instead of bothering uninterested people about it and ended up on tumblr looking at fan art of zuko and sokka :P and all these people losing it over fictional characters i was like ... i think i'm home? so i got a tumblr to participate in it more.

if you’re looking for science fiction, i’d recommend andy weir’s books, particularly the martian and project hail mary! his books are extremely accurate when it comes to the science involved, and the internal narrative of the main characters is hilarious. those two are definitely two of my favorite books ever, and i VERY highly recommend them :)

and yes!! i love moons!! my two favorites are europa and titan, but honestly all the moons in our solar system are fascinating :D

You have caught me in a conundrum where I love making lists and ordering things but hate being unfair and slighting the emotions of fictional characters - but I'll try!

I haven't thought about any ranks before, and I'm definitely also just. Foxy and Bonnie biased because I have friends/ mutuals who are Foxy and Bonnie biased and li'l old me looked at that and went ah yes, let's develop a fascination with these guys then! (I'm so so sad I can't write pirate. I need to practice pirate. Foxy beloved one day writing you won't scare me, I want the highjinks so bad) (The potential of having any fic with Bonnie facing 'trap makes me go insane. Go look at a rotting version of yourself piloted by a child murderer and try to stay sane about it)

But of the actual Glamrocks we got in SB, I'm hmmmm. I feel like Freddy has an unfair advantage by being a bit of a fool but in a kind way, becoming that father figure as he helps Gregory - I mean, look. Kind dads are my kryptonite and there's a reason I made Freddy as a dad the first Glamrock appearance in my own AU. Doesn't help that I saw all the father figure fanart first before ever seeing any gameplay of SB, oops.

But honestly, next is Chica! She's fun, she's funky, and she might just get me to do a workout! (Though I'm more likely to snag a pizza instead). She's got fun energy, and being an animatronic who eats (trash, of all things, too) just adds an extra layer of hilarity. She just has those nice, easy to get along with vibes, even if her energy might be a bit much for me at times!

Both Freddy and Chica also just. They're the recurring characters of the band, and that trauma of losing friends (Freddy still missing Bonnie ;^;) sure affects them, and I eat up every exploration of the concept!

Roxy and Monty... I don't feel like I like either one particularly more than the other? I like them both! They both have that appeal of "How do they feel, having replaced a former member of the band? How do they get along with the "original" cast? How do they cope with reminders of the old members, any grief the others may feel, and perhaps old fans asking about the replacements?" and maybe I'm just thinking too much about it but hey, the world's my oyster and if I want to ponder their inadequacy issues no one can stop me. Monty with his violence and Bonnie's decommissioning hanging above him. Roxy's arrogance (that smells of overcompensating) as well as just. Roxy. Foxy. They didn't even try to be subtle there. They both have so much potential and I love seeing all the takes on why they are the way they are, for all the Glamrocks actually!

So yeah, not exactly clear cut for a perfect list, but that's my thought process around each of them!

Hmmmm... he doesn't trust himself at all! Amane knows best that he shouldn't be allowed to exist freely, that he's best kept in chains! Anyone arguing otherwise.... Amane wouldn't agree with them!

In fact, I think that seal on his cheek, limiting his power, and his passive acceptance of it, is further proof that there is an Amane that he doesn't want us to know! You know, AidaIro's even joked once that if the seal on Amane's cheek is removed, the world will fall into disarray....

..... as for trying to kill Kou, I think you're wrong. I don't know that Hanako's knife actually works on living human beings quite like a normal knife. We don't know just yet how it works in the current canon, but in the pilot anyway, Hanako must have intention to stab through someone, and can simply make an imposing gesture....

...I also firmly believe Hanako was not stupid enough to kill The Minamoto Teru's brother. He knows who Teru is, he knows what attacking Kou would do to him. As good as a deathwish. I think Hanako was intending to make his little dramatic display, make Kou think twice about him, and then probably walk off with a smile and a message about kaii not being the same as human beings. A lesson. I think Teru jumped the gun and got aggro. I think Teru took it too far and too seriously. I don't think early series Hanako is actually cracked through enough to remotely behave murderously. Though we don't know wtf he was even thinking about the yorishiro and urabon so....

I mean ... in many ways, I think the murderous mindset for Hanako is intrinsically attached to devotion, love, commitment, thematically in a metatext way, and in a subconscious way in his fictional brain. If you think of the murder/shinjuu as something very sacred to Amane.... then the 'next time' can't be something frivolous or impulsive. You understand why he looks like this about having to consider it all.

...you would be remiss to think of Hanako as a renegade, rogue murderer.

He is in fact a deeply calculating, deeply passionate, very personal murderer. I don't think he' waste the emotion or besmirch his own action through something as flippant or crude, as murdering Kou impulsively. I don't think murder can be impulsive for Amane.

 +Now as a bonus I am going to tell my impressions about the guys at the concert and my experience that day (so if you are not interested in this part, skip it).

I didn't see anyone mention this but my theory as to why 127 arrived a day earlier in Colombia and Mexico was because of the altitude difference. One problem that kpop idols (and foreigners) ALWAYS have is the abrupt change in altitude. We start with the fact that Seoul is at 38m, they travel to America (between 24m-225m), then to Chile (570m) and Brazil (760m). BUT THEN they go to Colombia (Bogota) which is at 2625m and Mexico City with 2240m. I remember in 2020 Seventeen brought oxygen tanks to their concert in Mexico City and in the bts video you could see how they were short of air, even some members got sick a day before. The change of altitude makes that kind of stuff happen to them (shortness of breath, dizziness, puking, headache, etc.), so probably the staff decided to send them a day earlier to test that none of them felt too sick to perform.

An unfortunate event that happened the day of the concert was an agglomeration of people in two of the VIP zones (there were 4 zones). This was caused because the promoter of the concert in Mexico sold more tickets than was allowed (the zone I was in was made for 300 people but there were more than 600 of us). This caused that the people who were up to the front were crushing each other, they had a lot of bruises and scratches and several people were taken out because they fainted. The fans were sad because the guys noticed how the audience was doing and looked with concern every time a fan had to be taken out. It was such a big problem to the point that Doyoung and Jungwoo asked us to calm down, but people didn't pay attention to them until Johnny spoke and the fans quieted down to listen to him. I was worried because it was the last concert of their tour but the guys tried their best to make us enjoy until the last moment (:

About my impression of the guys... Taeil looks adorable to a certain extent, I don't know if it's because he's shorter than the others, he looks very chill. In my remarks I said that here we support the underdog, that underdog is Taeil. In 2019 the Mexican fans noticed that Taeil wasn't being hyped in other countries during his tour so they decided that the day of the concert in Mexico he would be the member they would celebrate the most (even if it was not his bias). This year it was the same, obviously the screams were louder with members like Johnny and Jaehyun because they have the most fans but we tried to scream with the same intensity for all the members so no one would feel left out.

Johnny looks TALL, he really looks 186-7cm. He is not my bias nor do I care for him as a member but throughout the concert he gave me a lot of confidence, I thought "Oh, he's a really nice guy". He looked very happy for all the support he was getting from the audience.

Yuta, hmmmm. Usually people say that Yuta looks like he's straight out of an anime, his face is quite attractive but his mannerism is what made me think I was watching a fictional character. It's hard to explain, it's like every movement of his has a characterization, just like characters in anime that have special poses. I didn't feel like I was watching an idol, but the protagonist of a shojo with his flirtatious way of talking.

Taeyong. What can I say? He is a great performer. I couldn't see his face up close but it was quite tender. He was always attentive to the audience directing all the attention to him, kept the fans engaged when they seemed like they had reached their limit. Even though he conveys a lot of peace, his presence is IMPOSING.

Doyoung. He seriously INTIMIDATED me. Don't get me wrong, I mean that in a good way. A while ago someone on the blog mentioned that his facial features are sharp and that person is definitely right! He looks like the mastermind who has control over everything and everyone. It made me feel like I should have a lot of respect for him and if I did something wrong he was going to notice it (after the concert I started calling him father, he impressed me to that extent). I tried to think about Doyoung bunny but all I could see was a FINAL BOSS. He looked like a real expert.

Jaehyun. Even if my friends said he was the "most masculine man they have ever seen", I felt like he was very soft. The only aggressive thing about him was his dancing. Most of the concert he was with a straight face because he was uncomfortable with the agglomeration of people, I think it was until Paradise that he started to relax and became more playful.

Jungwoo. His skills look great in person, his dancing skills are very good but still his presence doesn't feel as piercing as Taeyong’s and Mark’s. I feel like he has the potential but it's like his energy stays in place instead of spreading out.

Mark. I continue to be amazed by his stage presence. Even when he wasn't dancing you had the need to look at him, his every move was precise. Piercing is the perfect word to describe his presence, when the first impact comes it stays with you and you can’t escape anymore. I had to stop for a moment to appreciate the details in his solo and I could only ask myself how does he do it so well?

Idols have strengths and weaknesses. Johnny loves the attention of people, live performances is what makes him keep going. He evidently comes alive during tours on hosting a radio (he is not as enthusiastic about music shows, lives or other duties).

Jungwoo is very sincere in putting effort into dancing and performing, so he looks well in MVs and he is a good model for fashions magazines, however, he is still shy and insecure, not imposing.

Mark the musician is like an entity on its own inside Mark the boy next door. It is easy to see how a sensitive person like Yuta would want a constant change of hairstyles as self-expression and an armour, it's harder to connect a religious pastor's son to the dragon head of recent, heh. I honestly think Mark can beat Taeyong in the number of hair colours and hair styles he tried.

Your summary also highlights that not all concert problems are on SM, the local companies often are to blame as well.

Doyoung is very attuned to the surroundings and he definitely controls the stage (you can often see how other neos look for his signal or turn to him when they have a question). I think editors try to hide his serious side during practices, but sometimes moments slip through (3:04). I won't find the exact bts now, but once he called a practice as over before the choreographer did.

The only movies I’ve seen so far is Puss in Boots’ sequel and it was AWESOME! I want to see it again, but the tiny theater in town only keeps a single movie playing for about two weeks (unless if it’s a Big Studio Movie where it’s in there for a fucking month like they did with Avatar and anything Marvel Studios)

I got by [REDACTED] and John. (I don’t like using my birth name online, because I still go by it on days when I’m not John, but this name is very uncommon so... safety reasons)

I have a lot of nicknames from family members based around my birth name, my older sister has a specific nickname for me just as she does for our younger sibling, and online some of you guys call me by my username when you don’t use John. My girlfriend has a few names for me, and is literally the only person who is allowed to call me Johnny. I LOATH being called Johnny, she has permission because she’s cute and I love her.

Did you grow up to be what you wanted to be as a child?

Kinda???

I mean, technically, I did actually work as a museum archivist for several months during and after college, and my library job was technically an archive job. But this is work that is hard to come by, and is often done by unpaid volunteers, and I’d like to be paid. 

Currently I work at a job that is nothing that I’d ever want to go to school for, but the pay is good and no one bothers me. That much. 

Are you in a relationship? Who is your crush if not?

Yep, I’m in a relationship with my angel, Verzi. Have been since 2016! I do have a fictional crush (Lucian) and celebrity crush (Michael Sheen. Shockingly not David Tennant, but that’s on the grounds that I want to steal David’s gender. Also, Michael’s my type)

What's something you're good at versus something you're bad at?

I think I’m pretty decent at baking and cooking, I greatly enjoy doing these activities, and I think I’m pretty good at writing when I remember to beta my work. However, I’m terrible with time management, but that’s normal for people with ADHD, especially those who are unmedicated. Oh, and I’m HORRIBLE at learning other languages, but, again, that’s related to my ADHD. I’m trying, but it’s never been easy, even from a young age when I lived in Germany.

Both, but maybe I lean a little more on the side of cats because I have three of them

What's something you'd like to create content for?

I dunno, I make stuff for the things I really like all the time, it’s just a matter of actually doing it or not. But then again... there’s this au someone has on twitter that I really like ant for, but I have no idea how to talk to the creator about doing so (mostly it’s a language thing).

Hmmmm... work stuff. I legit happy with the work schedule I had gotten, and I was actually starting to get some decent sleep cause I wasn’t always stuck to four night shifts a damn week, but then a coworker threw a fit and quit on the spot over something stupid and now we’re scrambling to figure out how to give everyone enough hours. 

What's a hidden talent of yours?

When I was a kid, and my memory issues weren’t as severe as they are now (three comas and adhd will do that to a man), I used to be able to quote, word for word, whole episodes of shows I really liked. From Spongebob to YuGiOh, kids paid me to do these things at recess cause it was entertaining. I can still... sorta do this, but nothing like back in the day. 

Nowadays, the only hidden talent I can think of is that I’m double jointed in my hands like my mom, unlike my dad and siblings. They can’t fuck up their fingers like we can (I can even bend my thumb behind my hand) 

Are you religious?

I guess? I’m a Methodist (who doesn’t go to church) who also practices Buddhism and looks into the beliefs of Daisim.    

What's something you wish to have at this moment?

For someone else to clean out my drawers and closet to get rid of old clothing I don’t want anymore, because right now I’m getting things ready for when I move out of my apartment in a few weeks.

25. Do you listen to music as you write? If possible, link your writing playlist.

hmmmm some of the time, maybe half? i definitely listen to music a lot BEFORE i start writing, to get me into the mood/ clear my head sorta — it’s also happened before, once or twice, that i’m poking around spotify without the intention of writing and i get randomly bitten by the urge to fling out some words. not necessarily good words, but — whatever, we take those XD

28. How do you deal with writing pressure (ie: pressure to update, negative comments, deadlines, etc)?

uhhhh BADLY. (also, my writing pressure is pretty much all internal rather than externally imposed, if that matters!)

1) sometimes i try to push through the bad, and — sometimes it works, honestly. sometimes brain is just being a dumb and cuts out the tantrum after a while.

2) trying to get my head in the right space — so, music, and — that’s mostly why i have these lying around tbh: self care tag / encouragement / overcoming perfectionism

3) venting to understanding people!!! one of the most important things i’ve found (am still learning) is that so many people—literally even the most amazing ‘why are you not writing original fiction you could be making a killing’ / ‘you??? reading MY TRASH?? why do you even BOTHER honestly’ writers—can relate to these writing struggles! & not just the struggle, but also that indescribable desire to do it anyway. it’s weird and wonderful and literally the only reason i even dared to start let alone am still going (ish) hahaha

32. Copy and paste your top three favorite lines/jokes/sentences you’ve ever written. What fics do they come from?

Analysis tag game

Answer as few or many of these as you like. Enjoy! 1. How do you begin writing your analysis: do you start writing about the first thing that strikes you; or do you step back and look at the narrative structure first; or something else?

I usually start from a question I have about the narrative; my metas usually start with me wanting to learn something rather than me having something I want to prove. I always have to be interested in the subject!  2. What do you like to keep in mind while writing your analysis/meta?

Er... nuance and empathy. ;) It’s hard to balance that in some ways because like... in literary criticism you literally cannot be too blunt. You do not say “seems.” You do not say “likely.” You say “is.” You declare. That... does not always get received well in fandom, though :P So there’s a balance between sticking to an argument and acknowledging that not every statement applies to every situation in the world, or even to every interpretation of the work. 

3. Do you try to keep your value judgments separate from your analysis?

Is value akin to like or to morality in this question?

For the former, I think that there is a line between “I don’t like this” and “this is objectively bad,” but either case is okay to make--as long as you have evidence to back it up. If you can explain why X twist doesn’t make sense with the previous parts of the work, it’s not just “I don’t like this.” Also, you can think things are objectively good and dislike them, or think they are objectively bad and love them anyways (2ha’s last arc for me). You can even be a hypocrite (I disliked the end of TG and of 2ha for the same exact reason--protagonist halo--yet still enjoyed 2ha and ended up with a much harsher opinion of TGre for no other reason beyond just personal taste + life circumstances + expectations etc.) There’s a lot of shades of gray (nuance!) in there as well. 

For the latter... I know based on spoilers, for example, that Qiang Jin Jiu’s ending might be objectively well done, but it doesn’t necessarily seem to jive with my particular values. We’ll see how it’s executed/framed. But that doesn’t inherently affect my view of the story’s quality. 

4. Do you prefer analyzing characters, or arcs, or both?

Both, but characters are the main substance of a story for me. I have been more nerdily interested in structure lately though. I’d like to think Professor B is proud of me for how often I think back to his class...  5. Do you think receiving feedbacks/responses on your analysis/meta help improve your critical skills?

Yes! When it’s constructive and when there’s discussion backed up with evidence (whether in support or disagreement). I’ve learned a lot from other meta writers, and made some great friends! Literary analysis is always a discussion (even historically speaking!) so it’s 100% a valuable part of the experience. 

The problem, of course, is that people can be rude and social media encourages less-than-stellar engagement and out-of-context understandings, which means it’s often just safer to be like “I’m not discussing this.” :/  6. Do you consciously decide which media you want to write analysis on or does it naturally come to you?

Kind of goes back to question 1 for me; if I like a work and have questions about it, I’ll often write about it.  7. Do you prefer writing long or short metas? Which ones do you prefer to read?

Long for both, I guess, but honestly it depends on the topic and what it requires! Some short blurbs are great, and concise. I am in general not concise.  8. Which are your favourite analysis/criticism/meta blogs?

@linkspooky @aspoonofsugar @redphlox @haleigh-sloth I know I’m forgetting many great people.  9. Which shows/movies/media do you think deserve to have more analysis done on them?

Hmmmm. 

Qiang Jin Jiu--it’s a novel fans are really sleeping on (at the same time, that ,means there is no Shen Zechuan discourse which is inevitable if it gets popular, so I get to love my stabby son in peace). It’s also quite rich in themes. 

RWBY. There actually is a fair amount of content for RWBY, but less analysis, which I’d love to see more of! I think the story is really well done so far (not perfect, but good) yet a lot of the hot takes about RWBY are... they kinda misrepresent the show, which is a shame. 

Scum Villain. It often gets overshadowed by MXTX’s other works and while it definitely does have more obvious flaws (it’s a first novel and that’s clear), it’s no less thematically rich than MDZS or TGCF, and also just as clever. I also think its being a different genre plays a role in it being overlooked; a lot of critiques I see are exactly the point (like Binghe’s over-the-top behavior being designed to make you question tropes, the cringe sex scene is cringe for a reason, etc).. 

10. According to you, what are some prerequisites for good quality analysis?

Simply put, you’ve gotta be deferential to evidence. Support your claims, and also answer the “so what” question (ie why does x point you’re making matter?) Also, be willing to change your mind based on evidence, and also stick to the work. Which doesn’t mean you can’t empathize or theorize about why x people like y or how culture/authors impact work/the perceptions of a work, but that you should do so with self-awareness and humility. Fiction and reality have a nuanced relationship.

Oh, and don’t be afraid to be wrong or to change your mind. I’m wrong all the damn time. You learn through doing, right or wrong!
