Sims In Bloom: Generation 2 Pt. 116 (Volunteering As a Family)
After Ash's run-in with his cousin Michael, Heather and Conrad looked for a way to teach him some much-needed empathy. Heather made a plan with her good friend, Dylan Richards, which would bring them to San Myshuno to help at a shelter where Dylan had volunteered for years. But first, Conrad made breakfast while Lavender watched him intently with a bowl of cereal.
Heather found her sister doing laundry. "You sure you don't mind spending the day with Lavender while we're in the city?"
"Of course not! We're gonna play in the snow for a bit and then we're going over to the Goths to spend the afternoon. I really need to catch up with Lydia, and Lava can hang with little Jag."
"Just make sure to watch her around Obsidian. She gets so excited around animals, and a crow won't appreciate her squeeze hugs." The dryer beeped beside them. "Thanks for doing laundry, but I really don't want you feeling like a maid or a babysitter. How's the job search coming?"
"Great, actually! Conrad told Alexander I could help with research and analysis for his charity campaigns, so we're going to work out a schedule this afternoon. I'll probably start next week."
"That's great, Hazel, but Brindleton Bay doesn't even have a mayor. I already adopted him! Come to think of it, I don't even know who keeps the power on in this town."
She assumed the answer her own question as soon as she voiced it. George Brindleton, most likely.
"Alex thinks he could be the first real mayor Brindleton Bay's had in decades."
Heather smiled. She didn't like thinking of their friend Alex tangling with George Brindleton. If the town had no real mayor, he probably wanted it that way, but she didn't want to sound unsupportive. "Mayor Alex Goth has a nice ring to it!"
Heather, Ash, and Conrad left Lavender and Hazel playing in the snow with Gord. When they made it to the Spice District, they met up with Dylan and her daughter, Pearl, outside the graffiti-covered Soup Kitchen. As Henford-on-Bagley's grocery deliverer in her teens, Dylan had witnessed food insecurity firsthand, and she wanted to instill a passion for helping others in her own children.
The Soup Kitchen was a welcome place for unhoused sims and volunteers of all ages. A small cafe on the site served the public, with all proceeds going to the shelter. The industrial space was also a place where creativity could run wild - they encouraged their residents to create art to beautify the walls so the place felt less like a converted canning factory and more like a place they could feel at home.
Seven-year-old Ash walked around the main room in awe, where beautifully-painted murals decorated the walls and floors. This was a side of San Myshuno he'd never seen before, nothing like the stark glass and steel of his family's Uptown penthouse a thousand feet up across the bay.
Ash loved the art, but his eyes were drawn to the beds. The room was packed with them - some small enough for Lavender and Bridgette. He was surprised to think a toddler might be unhoused. It's way too cold for Lava and Bridgie to sleep outside, he thought.
Dylan showed them around the cafe, and Ash even helped the baristas deliver food to various patrons. Heather helped serve while Conrad prepared ingredients for the shelter's dinner that evening. "Are you sure you don't want help prepping the cottage pie?"
"I've got this. I thought you were keeping an eye on Ash?"
"He went upstairs with Pearl. I think he might be meeting some of the people who use the shelter. Dylan says there's a kids' room."
Upstairs, Pearl introduced Ash to Zacharius Beard and his mother, Anjali, who had been staying at the shelter since Anjali had left her husband. "Why did you leave?" Ash wondered innocently. "Was he not nice?"
Zacharius shook his head. "Daddy's mean," he insisted. Ash opened his mouth to ask more questions, but Pearl discreetly shook her head behind the Beards.
"Are you watching a movie, Zach?" she cut in.
"I was going to. Did you want to join me? Mom can stay for a bit, but then she has to finish a mural out back by the tents."
"People live in tents here?"
"Fewer sleep outside in the winter, but some don't want to stay inside with kids," explained Anjali. "But they can still come here to eat and shower whenever they need to."
"Do you watch a lot of movies?"
"The movies I like, I watch a lot," Zach said. "But I don't always have someone to watch them with me. There aren't a lot of other kids here right now. Last time Pearl was here she tried to teach me to plié, but I'm not very good at ballet."
"No one's better at ballet than Pearl," said Ash.
"I'm only good for my age. So far," Pearl insisted with a confident smile. "But one day I'll dance Swan Lake with the SanMy Ballet Company."
Anjali smiled. "I have no doubt you will, Miss Pearl. But I hope you'll all excuse me while I get painting."
"Did your mom do all the murals here?" Ash wondered.
"Most were already here, but she's an artist."
"I could do art on my craft table and bring it another time," Ash said thoughtfully. "Or can you do crafts here?"
"If we get enough donated art stuff, we can, but craft supplies get lost, toddlers eat the crayons, and most of the cafe money goes to food and stuff we need, not stuff we like," explained Zach. "We're not allowed to use the mural paint."
Downstairs, Conrad and Heather were chatting in the kitchen while a hearty cottage pie baked in the oven. "It smells incredible, Conrad. What ingredients did you use?"
"I could tell you that, but this recipe is a Gordon family secret. You've got to marry in to get it."
"There's still snow on the ground," she reminded him. "No coats, and no one freezing to death! That is the least I could hope for at our wedding."
He laughed. "Then the secret ingredients stay with me. For now."
"Would Ben know it? Maybe I'll try to ask him with Mrs. Goth's seance table," she teased, and with a sudden hiss, the power inside The Soup Kitchen went out. The lights in the large kitchen went dark, the electric stove stopped baking, and the movie upstairs shut off with a click.
"What happened?" asked Pearl, looking around fearfully and noting every light in the building was out.
"Power outages happen a lot," said Zach. "My mom says the building should have better wiring, but it's too expensive. But sometimes when the power goes out, we don't get warm dinner. Just snacks."
Listening to Zach, Ash stood with conviction. "We don't need the power on to make dinner. I have an idea!" ->

"Are we rolling?"
"Yes Mister Heart."
"Excellent. My name is Logan Heart. I've lived in the wonderful little town of Henford On Bagley for two years now. I feel it's time I settle down and start looking for a boyfriend. But you know how small towns are. You tend to lack options. So that's why I am doing this bachelor challenge.
A bit about me. My hobbies include working out, writing, spending time with my pet chicken Emily, knitting and cooking.
I'm a writer working on getting my first book published. Black is my favorite color and I have a preference for leather. I look forward to meeting each of you lovely gentlemen and I hope one of you could be my soulmate."
~~
Info
Sims must be male.
CC is fine just no defaults as I have defaults in my game.
Sims must have a bio or at least a small personality blurb so I know how to write them.
Your sim can be evil or good. Do note though if a good wins Emily and Logan may corrupt him like Logan was. I haven't decided on that yet.
Note: You the audience know Logan is an evil corrupt man turned by Emily. Your contestant will not know this. He's acting like his old self in this tape and Logan will be putting on an act for a little bit of the bc to lure the guys in. So when writing your entry write it as if you see a sweet guy
I own Werewolves, Cottage Living, Cats and Dogs, My First pet(or whatever the stuff pack for pets is) and Romance Garden(stuff pack)

Oh no! After being unalived by a vicious rabbit, Geraldine's spoiled daughter Coraline is taken in by her begrudging aunt Gwendolyn. Will the brat be straightened out by farm life (and find her aunt's true love), or will they suffer until adulthood do they part?
You are Gwendolyn Gates, and this is your story.
You have always lived in the shadow of your younger sister, Geraldine. If beating your grades in school wasn’t enough, she was always voted into class office, homecoming court, and anything else she tried out for. You were a consistent B student, had a few solid friends, were skilled in sports, and still couldn’t catch your parents’ eyes. It was no surprise when she graduated with a law degree at the top of her class and quickly climbed the ladder while you continued your part time community college education and worked hard as a farmhand and part-time event photographer to pay your own way. After all, mommy and daddy could only pay for one of you to get through college, and clearly Gerry was the one going places. Your boyfriend Ricky, who had been by your side since eighth grade, broke up with you just months before your wedding, and three months later you saw he was dating your beloved sister. They even ended up having a child together before he was lost in a tragic cowplant incident. That was the last straw. For the last ten years you have been living a reclusive life in a small country town, caring for your animals and taking home Best Pie ribbons from the local fairs. You forgot about Geraldine and her perfect life. All you know is she says she put you down as the godparent of the child you never intend to meet, continues to practice law, and is forever the golden child. Apparently golden kids don’t smell like cow s-, well, you know.
Unfortunately, that perfect life crashed into yours again a week ago. After a few too many drinks at the Gnome’s Arms, you were in a charitable mood and finally agreed to let Geraldine bring her daughter Coraline out to the farm during summer break. She had been begging you for years. Fine, whatever. What’s the worst that could happen in a week? You buy a cot and a toy and set them up in your spare room, move the storage crates into your own, and figure you’d rather sleep with the cow anyway and let Geraldine have your room. Then you wait.
While you wait, someone steals your cow. You are devastated, and pledge to get the fence fixed before it happens again. You’re too late. The day before your sister and niece come in, your chickens are taken, too. Plus they absolutely destroyed your crops. You complain to your best friend Sara, who comforts you with a free slice of cottage pie and reminds you you have a lawyer sister coming to town in less than 24 hours. Feeling full and a little hopeful, you head home and wonder how to explain this crazy situation to Geraldine in the morning.
Don’t worry, it gets worse.
Before you can even offer a hug or to carry a bag, Geraldine is attacked by a vicious killer rabbit. You and Coraline stand in stunned silence as the dust settles and she collapses on your front lawn. Grim comes. Grim leaves. You have a child, no crops, no livestock, and no idea what the next days will hold.
The Challenge.
Requires Cottage Living and Parenthood
To begin the Family Trouble Challenge (I didn’t see any challenges with this name but as always let me know if I am accidentally plagiarizing or something), start a new game with the Family Trouble Challenge household. If you have Seasons, start in summer. Move into the lot 2 Olde Mill Lane in Henford-On-Bagley. Enter build mode and place Overgrown Granary Farm (gallery ID is sahmandbean). You should have $1k left. I tested this several times. In live mode, shift-click on Geraldine, select Kill, and there should be a rabbit option. Do that. Once Grim has left, adopt Coraline as care-dependent. Set lifespan to long, or for “hard mode” leave it on normal. Do whatever you want with season length.
Objectives:
First, fix the fence. Then, in any order:
Reach Level 10 Parenting skill
Become best friends with Sara Scott
Participate in every fair
Win Best Pie at least once
Have a cow and at least four chickens
You can remove one lot challenge after livestock objectives are met
You can remove one lot challenge if Coraline gets a job
You can remove one lot challenge after volunteering together five times
Gwendolyn must only earn money by farm-related things
Coraline must earn every Character Value trait
Coraline's remaining traits can be randomized three times and you pick your favorite of the three
Coraline must introduce Gwendolyn to her true love after aging up into a teen
Coraline must complete at least one errand for each Henford-on-Bagley resident
Gwendolyn must complete her aspiration
If you have the packs and want to, you can:
Add off the grid objects like solar panels and water collectors
Change out Gwendolyn’s Noncommittal trait for Unflirty
Change anyone’s anything besides traits, likes and dislikes, and Gwendolyn’s aspiration
Use the selling table from City Living or Eco Lifestyle
Have either Sim attend university, but it must be from home, and only one at a time
Take vacations, but not move, and not for more than two nights. Think of the animals!
Let me know how it goes! If you have questions, message me here, or on IG @sahm_and_bean

OFFICIAL BLOG: Harold Tours The Countryside in Cottage Living
The Sims team has released an official blog for The Sims 4 Cottage Living
I’m in Henford-on-Bagley!
Sul Sul… Is this how it goes? No matter. Hey there, it’s me, Harold the Llama, and before you go about wondering how a llama like myself managed to prepare a blog, I’ll have you know these nails have been trimmed to perfection to reveal the capable keyboard connoisseur that I am. But my motor skills are not what this is about! It’s about my charming home of Henford-on-Bagley.
Sim legends of old say that Henford-on-Bagley was created from the perfect mingling of earth and water… but I’m pretty sure some Sims loved the nearby Cordelia Falls and that the River Bagley runs through it in all of its glory. Hmmm, majestic.
Anywho, in order to get to know more about this charming village, we will have to visit all of its neighbourhoods. Our first stop is Finchwick, where the action happens!… Sort of… in a manner of speaking. Finchwick prides itself as a historically bustling and tight-knit community.
Finchwick is the home of the weekly – yes, weekly – fair in which locals put their skills to the test in creating the most sophisticated and delicious creations, such as pies, as well as show off their most prized animals *cough cough* myself included *cough cough* and oversized crops – trust me, the bigger the better – to be judged, as it is tradition, by the Mayor no less! Winning or just participation will get you a reward, but to be honest, it is all for bragging rights and what is better than bragging rights anyway, am I right?
This neighbourhood hosts the historic square which is also home to the busy marketplace – perfect if you love window shopping – and the village pub – ‘The Gnome’s Arms.’ The marketplace is where you’ll find Goldbloom’s Grocery Shop, home of the best produce! But don’t take it from me, try some yourself! I recommend their aubergines… that’s an eggplant for the non-locals.
Another iconic spot is the Crumplebottom’s Garden Shop, owned by Agatha Crumplebottom, and run by Agatha and Agnes! This shop will serve all of your gardening needs, as well as some extra things… not quite for gardening, but for enjoying nonetheless such as conserves and jams… mmm, jams. Now I want some crumpets and jam, the superior option to buttered crumpets – fight your chickens about it, not me. I should ask my keeper to make some… but who am I kidding, I can only eat feed for llamas (well, sometimes a treat) *sigh* A llama can dream after all. Just don’t tell Agatha if you make some, or she’ll send her gnomes to take them for sure as they are her favourites.
But, back to The Gnome! If you’re feeling quite curious or in need of a little drama for your llama, you can enter The Gnome’s Arms for a chance to listen in on the village’s gossip, history, and what is happening around it. Owned by the Scotts, Simon and Sara, this pub has been a dream come true, despite Simon running randomly into chickens – or me for that matter – along the way. This is where everyone knows everything about everyone, so take advantage of that as you visit! And their food is amazing, make sure to try their Bangers and Mash or their Beef Wellington; I hear it is fantastic. Enjoy the convivial mood by having a Henford Heart-to-Heart with or offering a Finchwick Favor to Sara, who should be minding the bar, for good measure. Sara can give you advice if you seek it, or maybe share some ghost stories if you want to know them.
If you’re in a helpful mood, you may also help Sims with village errands and learn more about their backgrounds, interests, and what they do around town! Or just for the good rewards, if that’s your bag.
Trotting along, we find Old New Henford. A fun piece of trivia for you all: it was originally named ‘Little Henford.’ However after some consideration, it was proposed that ‘New Henford’ would be better suited… more posh if you will. Unfortunately, there was a mishap with the national mapmakers and the town apparently ceased to exist for two whole weeks! Ha! Imagine that? Well, after that of course the town needed a new name and Old New Henford was picked, and here we are.
This part of the village is known for their lush estates, rolling hills, and their small – but beautiful – community garden. This neighbourhood used to be one giant property owned by the Watson family, who sold plots of it over the years. They still own a sizable estate perched at the top of the Olde Mill Hill – you can’t miss it.
You will find that this part of town is perfect to have a lot with a garden and space for livestock and oversized crops! You can always take notes as you stroll around the area and see how the townsfolk are doing with their gardens and plots.
Old New Henford is the perfect place for those that love animals like yours truly. In this neighbourhood you can find rabbits hopping about, wild birds you can sing to, and cheeky little foxen that you can befriend… but beware of their mischievous nature! They will want to surprise you and *mumbles* you’ll want to be sure your chickens are accounted for *mumbles.* This part of the town is also great for those who love to fish. Who knows, maybe someone finally will catch that wolf eel I keep hearing about.
You can even say that it is an idyllic place for a new start. Just ask Cecilia, one of our newest residents who moved in recently from the big city looking for a new life after having her heart broken. Now she shares her life with us living in a fab, refurbished barn. She loves keeping her garden, and her chickens! She is a lovely neighbour. I hope one day she finds true love. Unfortunately for Michael Bell, the local Creature Keeper, he is not her chosen one, but at least Cecilia has a long term commitment to all critters that visit for now.
Like Cecilia, if you welcome Wild Animals for visits, some can become your friends for life and even bring you gifts.
From the rolling hills of Old New Henford, we arrive at The Bramblewood.
The Bramblewood is the natural beauty of Henford-on-Bagley.These woods have a storybook-like aura that delights anyone who visits. It has long provided a picturesque place for many wild birds, rabbits, and foxen to call home, so you may find yourself among friends here including our friend Michael, our Creature Keeper, who roams the woods on most days caring for animals and plants.
It is truly a wonderful place, where you can forage Chocoberries and mushrooms, including nightcaps – some say that you can only find them at night… aptly named! The Bramblewood can be full of surprises, especially if you encounter the Isle of Volpe, named after Lord Volpe, founder of Finchwick. The Isle of Volpe is one of the most iconic hallmarks of Henford-on-Bagley, not only because of the history reflected on its ruins, but also because it is the most romantic spot in town. Generations of Sims remember their first kiss in the Isle of Volpe *love sigh*, so if you are coming with your sweetheart, you should spend some time there to experience its splendor. Just be careful not to disturb the Creature Keeper’s home. He is a gentle but private Sim.
But if romance is not something you fancy, head out for a bit of adventure and visit the Isle of Volpe Park. Run through the path that leads you to Sophie the Snail, who is always happy to take a picture. If it is calm and serenity you seek, be sure to spend some time visiting Cordelia Falls. In the end, wherever you spend your time in this part of town, it is said that the Bramblewood can change your life forever, and so far there have been no truer words to live by.
And so you see, my friend, whether you decide to come for a visit or move here to my humble countryside town, there is always something happening, something to do, something to dream about, but most importantly, know that we welcome you with open … erhm… feet!
We hope to see you soon!
Cheers!

Letters from Henford-on-Bagley (letter 1)
Living in Henford-On-Bagley feeling like taking a step back in time. Instead of doing facetimes with grandma, Soeirsa decide to instead send her letter. Grandma treasured those letter she received and it made her feel so close to Soeirsa because of it. These are grandma Maeve's collections of those letters.
Hello Grandma,
We have finally finished the renovations on the farm. I can’t believe we were living off the grid during that time. Would have written to you but between school. Getting the farm started and the renovations to the cottage we could barely make it to bed at night. I don’t think I have ever been so exhausted ever in my life. Well now dad is talking about saving to moving to a big farm down in Old New Henford, but I do not know if I can keep up everything seem to be moving so much fasted now that we have tried to slow down. The irony in it just makes me laugh.
This is what the place is looking like now. We added a whole second floor to the house we have manage to add double the space without changing much. We are planning on adding a few ponds and a greenhouse in the back, but I feel like that is a little ambitious of dad since everything around the farm seem to take a lot of our time, but I am sure dad will find a way.
We will also knock out the wall separating the living and dining and make the space look more open. Dad is excited about that so am I honestly, I wish you could come visit but I wish these picture help to give you a look inside. My mom hates the kitchen we are getting a remodel soon at least the color we are all tire of hearing her talk about it all day. While working on her jams.
I’ll send more pictures soon for now I got to make sure all the fruits have been picked for mom to continue making her Jam people are coming from all over the town to buy them from us since we started selling them to the grocery store owner now, they are placing big orders with us. We might open a store soon mom really wants one she can’t wait for the day she can finally own one she even likes a location near the town square she has her eyes on.
Thinking of you and grandpa Will often let me know if you guys need anything would love to help any way I can.
Love Always, Soeirsa
NEXT LETTER
Feedback is always welcomed; I would love know what you all think - so feel free to comment, send in an ask, or just message me if you want to chat!
A/N I wanted to form a storyline in the perspective of our red headed beauty that is Soeirsa. But we might do other series with the rest of the cast. This lot had only one floor and looked pretty small for this family but by adding a second level it really changed thing I'll maybe add pictures in part 2 if I find any but it is just 3 bedrooms for the kids and the master bedroom is through the living room. Anyways if you would like to be added to the tags list let me know
