it’s amazing to see how much izzy and clary’s relationship changes over the books and becomes such a valuable friendship. the fact that it was once awkward to have “girl talk” in cofa —> a giggly conversation between them being the origin story behind the birth control rune. just two girls that have never been comfortable around other women finally embracing it and leaning on each other during some of the most difficult times in their lives is so beautiful. i love my unlikely besties. not to mention that they both are basically engaged to the male versions of each other lol

platonic clizzy my BELOVED. genuinely their friendship means so much to me. it really is so cool to see their girl-girl 00s rivalry or skepticism or idek how you would define it.. that distance they held each other at--clary bc she's not used to liking girls like izzy and izzy bc she's cautious and protective of her brothers--blossom into just the kind of friendship they both needed and deserved.

i've thought a lot recently about that line of izzy's where she tells clary that like this is what girl talk is.. it's such an interesting one to me bc really how much opportunity has izzy had to have girl talk, yk? the only thing i can imagine she'd have as a reference are her infrequent conversations with aline. or like.. how semi-unfortunately familiar maryse is with her. but then, meanwhile, while it was just jocelyn and clary as clary was growing up, jocelyn was never really open or particularly girl-talky with clary. so like it really makes izzy's own limited girl friendship experience seem significant in comparison. but at the end of the day they really were two girls just navigating together that kind of close girl-girl friendship and what it means for each of them individually <3

and you're so right about the ending up with the male versions of each other thing too hehe it's so funny the way people tend to be drawn to the same kinds of people yk? and it really just makes the four of them (clace and sizzy) such an intriguing pod of friends (like percy and annabeth and jason and piper if you will). like the vibes vibe!

i think there's a lot we don't get to see of clary and izzy's friendship growing after edom too. when they're bonding over the loss of simon, and then over the growing pains of him being reintroduced back into their lives. it really emphasizes relationships when both parties care so deeply for the same people i think.
