a/n: okie soooo i tried my best to fulfill the request. i hope this is up to expectations. this one was so cute to write. also, i watched so many photo booth couple videos on tt and it was lowks depressing 😞 but i had so much fun writing this! as always, spanish speaking reader in mind! i provide translations for this one cuz searching up the translation is VERY inaccurate.

summer break had finally started and what better way to spend it than going to the mall with your boyfriend? you walked around intently, hand intertwined with miles’. his serious demeanor deeply contrasted the big smile on your face. you had begged him to accompany you to this very specific mall.

“baby, where are you taking me?” he murmured as you dragged him to god knows where. 

“just waittt. ya mero llegamos.” you exclaimed. miles simply sighed and went along with your antics. you walked a little more until you finally stopped in front of a box? with a curtain?

“ta daaaa!” you announced, letting go of miles’ hand. miles only looked at the box and back at you, with a clearly very confused look on his face. you groaned, “the photobooth like the ones from the tik toks i’ve sent you!”

“ohh. pues, you coulda just said that.” he chuckled, as he opened the curtain and motioned for you to get inside the booth. you rolled your eyes, “¡vámonos vámonos! taking your sweet ass time.” miles joked as you got in, yelping in surprise as he slapped your ass. 

“miles!”

“chill!” he laughed.

“that shit hurt!” you glared at miles with a pout on your face. 

he only smirked, “pues, te lo puedo sobar.”

“¡cohcino!” you slapped your boyfriends shoulder as he got inside the booth. 

( nasty! )

“im just playing, mami. okay come on let’s get this over with.” he closed the curtain as you read the instructions. 

“wanna pay for this and i’ll pay for lunch?” you offer knowing damn well he’d pay for both regardless.

“mhm.” miles took out 4 dollars from his wallet and inserted the bills in to the machine. the machine started rambling on about instructions and miles looked at you. “can’t believe you got me doing this shit.” your boyfriend laughed in disbelief. 

miles wrapped a hand around your waist and scooted you closer to him. you giggled, it truly was amusing on how you got this stoic of a man to be doing the most lovey-dovey shit just so he could see a smile on your face. 

“now for the fun part! you have 3 chances to pose, so have fun, make sure you look at the camera” the automated voice instructed.

“put your finger as a heart!” 

“seriously?” miles argued.

“get ready! 3-”

“yes! hurry!” you insisted.

miles smiles and did as you asked.

“2, 1” shutter.

there was a pause before the countdown started again. you held miles’ jaw and pressed your lips against his cheek. and miles smiled contently. 

shutter. 

“that one’s gonna come out so cute i just know it!” you looked at miles excitedly. on his cheek your lipgloss left a stain with the perfect imprint of your lips. miles turned to you as the countdown once again started. he placed his hands on both sides of your face, and kissed you right as the camera went off. when he finally pulled away, he simply smiled before opening the curtain to get out of the booth. you followed him out and stood silently holding his hand as you waited for the pictures to print. 

once the copies came out, you quickly snatched them. “ah!!! they look so cute! thank you baby.” you engulfed him in a tight hug to which he reciprocated. 

miles took one of the copies and focused only on you in the photos. 

“you look gorgeous, ma.” he looked down at you and gave you that lovely smile of his. you blushed, looking down avoiding his gaze because of how nervous and giggly it made you.

aaron sat down in front of miles who was on his phone doing god knows what. 

“they messed up the order so we’re gonna have to wait a bit more.” aaron sighed. 

“hm ok.” miles responded dryly. 

aaron was about to make a comment about his nephews disinterest when he noticed miles had decorated his once empy clear phone case. it was pictures of miles clearly infatuated with his lover.

“your girl made you do that?” miles looked up from his phone in confusion.

“what?” uncle aaron nodded towards the phone in miles’ hands, “oh. yeah she’s been wanting do that for a while.”

aaron laughed, “she got you real wrapped around her finger huh?” 

miles turned the back of his phone towards him, “yeah guess so.” he laughed along with his uncle. he admired the photos, thumb running over his phone case. his heart swelled at how beautiful you looked and how lucky he was to have you in his life.

I'll sit here and wait for the canon evidence that proves Elain wants something more with Az than a hookup.

"Az questioned his religion for Elain!" (also, why is that romantic, aren't people supposed to have faith and not doubt when it comes to religion? One guy pouting over what he didn't get isn't more important than the entire foundation on which their world was built). "Az gave Elain TT!" Ok, so where are we shown Elain wants a future with Az? That she loves Az? That she was sooo moved by the lending of his dagger? That she wanted anything more than a distraction? They focus solely on Az (misinterpreting his actions to boot) while completely ignoring that Elain has given zero signals of wanting anything serious with him yet claim how what the FMC wants are the most important thing. So show me the proof that Elain wants an actual relationship with Az, that she has true feelings for him. And no, observing that he rubs his temples is not proof of feelings, she in canon often notices things like this about the world around her.

I'll sit here and wait for the canon evidence of what Az actually likes about Elain as an individual.

Not her charming irreverence, that's what he liked about Gwyn. So what is unique to Elain that he in his own words / thoughts is drawn to? Weird how there's absolutely nothing outside of her looks and scent after 2 years of knowing her.

It's an interesting question, because of course that could be asked about anyone. How do we know that someone is interested in another person?

How did we know that Cassian was interested in Nesta? Most of his thoughts in Wings and Embers were sexual in nature--just as explicit as Azriel's, but also with a touch of violence. The first thing Cassian thinks about when he visits the still-human Nesta are her...ample breasts. And then he tries to kiss her. And then she knees him in the balls.

There are still people here, in the fandom, convinced that Nessian aren't even a thing and that she'll leave him for Eris.

So what's going to convince them? Because obviously a whole huge book hasn't convinced them.

Same with Feysand--firstly it was Feyre who wanted a distraction, not Elain, whose personality just doesn't align with casual sex. But besides that, people are still convinced that Rhys daematied Feyre and she is operating under his mind control.

Again, we had a trilogy plus a novella and they have a child together and people still don't believe that they are IT.

So, I suppose, the question could be posed to you--what makes you think that Elain isn't interested in Azriel? That she wants nothing beyond sex?

Because Elain's been observing him, noticing things about him (his words, not mine), he knows that she knows things about him that no one else does, she's been gifting him Solstice gifts (the only man that she's done that for), she clearly doesn't want him to be in pain or uncomfortable, hence the headache powder and the ear plugs. She KNOWS that he's been avoiding her for a year, and yet she still seeks him out, while expecting nothing.

In both of their cases, if you just want to jump someone's bones, why would you....avoid them? For a YEAR?

So it's interesting that you mention 'charming irreverence', but you don't mention "The faelights gilded Elain's unbound hair, making her glow like the sun at dawn."

You don't mention this either: She hadn't bought her mate a present. But she'd gotten Azriel one last year -- a headache powder he kept on his nightstand at the House of Wind. Not to use, but just to look at. Which he'd done every night he’d slept there.

You also don't mention this: She opened her mouth to ask more, but he didn't feel like explaining. Or demonstrating, since that was surely what she'd ask next.

It's just a simple case of selective reading --it's choose to amplify and concentrate on the things that you like, but you discard pretty much the entirety of Azriel and Elain's interactions in ACOFAS, for example. You also discard the rescue from Hybern. Was it all done just so that Azriel could have sex with her? That's seems like overkill.

The thing is--I am not here to convert anyone into Elrielism. That's not my aim or my job. It's not even my aim to have people 'see' Elriel. Elriel is obvious. If it's your choice to ignore ACOWAR, ACOFAS and ACOSF, then what can I do to convince you? Not a whole lot.

i'm enthused that everyone seems to enjoy cameron so much. believe you me, i'd want nothing more than for them to be a love interest too. and maybe some day, they will be—but for now:

cameron's oddly superstitious. but only circumstantially. they wouldn't really think anything of walking under a ladder, but they'll commit to gravity-defying stunts to avoid stepping on a crack so they won't break their mother's back. they don't mess with demons. god forbid you bring an ouija board into their house.

i imagine they are a weirdly moisturized person. just got that honey and milk hand cream on lock in their glove compartment.

they're a creature of habit, though they try to not make this obvious. for people like deja and mc, it is still painfully obvious.

they're also the kind of person who uses perfume/cologne sample bottles at malls regularly before going on a date.

early on in their friendship with mc, they used to strike really odd and uncomfortable faces and poses because they weren't used to taking pictures. as they've grown closer, cameron leans more candidly into the photos, which have become less of a performance for them. it's more natural, i should say.

Or that one video which they have now deleted bc taylor was getting dragged. It was a video of her just walking on stage and singing (not live) and the caption was like: I can't believe she was doing that for the first time. ' - Some small part of me does feel sorry for these delusional fanbase. Cause she has the highest grossing tour right now. Big emphasis on right now cause that record is not forever. Anyways they can not post much about her performance anywhere without people using it to drag her. Cause let's face it. She can't perform. She's not serving. She's giving nothing. Her dancers slay more than she does.

Pffffft Taylor went from pop country to pop and never changed again. Slightly different vibes? Sure. Still pop. She wouldn't know rock if it smacked her in the head.

Missy Elliott is hip hop. Early P!nk (ie Most Girls) is R&B. Sumo Cyco is goth rock (+ others, but still). Taylor Swift wouldn't touch any of those genres with a 10ft pole, and quite frankly she'd suck at them if she tried lol.

She doesn't "transcend genres", and considering she can't even make different versions of pop sound good, I think we know why.

And no, she can't perform. Let me flex my expertise here: I'm a trained dancer. Specifically with 26 years of training in tap, jazz, ballet, theater, and contemporary, with additional training in commercial/street jazz (aka music video and tour choreography) and various other styles in sporadic classes. I've literally been choreographing since I was about seven years old, and have been analyzing commercial choreography since I was 15.

That said,

Her performances are not only weak, but they show me that her tour choreographer either

Doesn't exist and she created all of her own "dancing" herself

Doesn't know how to adapt choreography for someone with virtually no dance technique

Actively has something out for Taylor and is trying to make her look bad

I'm going to reference "Look What You Made Me Do" from the Eras tour, because that's the most recent and clearest to illustrate my point

Okay, first off, right off the bat, her hand floating on her hip looks awkward and uncomfortable. It's giving "over-excited 8yo at recital". For someone with as much experience as she has performing, I'd expect her to look more settled in her beginning pose. She looks like she's overthinking, and thus it looks under rehearsed.

Then we have that flexed hand - yes it's a nit pick, but that pose belongs very few places outside of a 6yo's tap dance.

Movibg on, her robotic movements look messy as fuck. Sharp isolations like that are HARD. A lot of dancers with years of training struggle with getting the kind of sharpness you would expect to see from that choreography. And on the scale of a stadium like she's in, everything is amplified. If it's messy, it's going to look five times as messy as it might on a smaller scale, because the further away the audience is, the more detail gets lost. So you're movements need to be SHARP in order to translate to the audience. Add to that that this is clearly filmed professionally/intentionally, and it really just looks unprofessional/poorly planned.

Meanwhile the things like the "don't like you" scolding (besides looking childish) are so small that you wouldn't see them beyond the front row. When you're choreographing even for a normal stage, the #1 rule is make everything BIG and intentional. If you're kicking, you're hitting AT LEAST a 45° angle, and with the force of trying to kick the winning soccer (football) goal. Taylor doesn't do that. Those movements are small, sad, and weak, and it honestly looks lazy. I know a 10yo currently doing a competitive dance solo to this song, and I shit you not that 10yo is 50x more interesting to watch perform than Taylor.

So yeah, her music has been one note since Fearless one note (uninspired pop), and her "stage presence" is about on par with an 8yo who doesn't want to be here.

Ghost trick!!!! Loved this game it was exactly what I expected from a Shu Takumi game. I do hope they plan to make a sequel or crossover, I really loved the mechanics of this game.

Summary

Shu Takumi has done it again (even though this is a remaster lol). What and incredible mystery game with really fun mechanics. There were definitely a couple times I was stumped on what to do or was stuck bc I missed my window of opportunity, but I think it worked well since the puzzles were difficulty and you couldn't just immediately breeze past them all. I also really enjoyed gaining missile's abilities later and having to think of the puzzles in different ways. The characters and animations/sprites were really fun. There's so much personality in them without even saying a word. The game also reveals character information in a really good way as you slowly learn more about the mystery of the game yet also feels like you're getting farther from learning who you are. I also just love how this game is just made with so much love for Takumi's real pets and how Sissel ended up being Yomiel's beloved cat... what a sweet ending oh my god. Each level had such a fun and unique design while also adding a twist to the puzzle, like the stealth level or submarine sinking level. The game also has many unlockable achievements to encourage replayability as well as concept art and other illustrations to unlock. There's so much added to this game and you can really feel the love and care the team put into this game, I hope there are more Ghost Trick games in the future or hopefully even a Ghost trick x Ace Attorney crossover -- I wonder how that would play out esp with Maya's spirit abilities. All in all, such a sweet and fun game. Not too long either. Can't wait to replay it to get all the achievements and make fanart!

There is one that I desperately want to both show off and also whine a lot about, but I can't because we have missed the promo period for that project and now you all will have to both wait and cheer me and @insertmeaningfulusername on to finish our pieces for the Clone Bang to see it (I'm gonna be so fucking proud when it is finally done!) And I also have a lot of other works that are connected to that big bang project and they are adorable and I want to show those off too but but but... This little overwhelmed Anakin is from one of these connecting projects, and probably that is all that I can rightfully show off right now, but Rex in that one is gonna be so good, I'm telling you!

I've got a LOT of (like, 3? which counts for a lot in my case, honestly) MaulRex plans (I'm running an agenda here) which will make me dust off my old AO3 account because I surely won't be able to post those drawings here even with a mature label lol.

There is cowboy Rex and Cody in the pile I shared in a previous answer; I signed up for a rexobi bingo but I don't have anything tangible for that one yet; but but but! there is also one that is permanently on the backburner in my brain from the "aaaaangst" labelled wip (see below)

Which gets redrawn basically every time I open it up, but the concept is based on Michelangelo's Pieta which is one of my all time favourite sculptures, I love it sooo much, it's so beautiful! but with Fives and Rex (because hey hello that arc had completely destroyed me, I haven't been alright ever since I watched it) with various helmets strewn around on the groun and the looming large forms/statues of armed clone troopers in the background as if they were pillars in a cathedral or something.

I have a very clear idea of what I would like it to be, which is a problem because that does not match my skill level and visual library, so I'll have to adjust to that, but it would be so very cool if I could figure out the adjusted pose (because armor makes things bend and twist differently even on a dead-limp body, and would you believe it clone body types do not match a scrawny Christ and his mother lol). Plus I'm undecided whether I only want Echo included as a broken helmet at their feet, or if I want him in there leaning against Rex's knee and hanging on to Fives' hand for the extra kick of it.

This is my big project I dream about finishing aside from that changeling AU and octo!MaulRex drawing.

Anyway, that's all to say that I can't believe it never really dawned on me that his horns could do something similar. I suppose because the demon horns in general seem pretty immobile... except for his. Like this is a unique to Barbatos situation as far as I can tell. I don't think anybody else has horns that have joints, you know?

I kinda hc Asmo's horns to be smth like scorpion pincers. however the joints are hidden under his hair... yeah maybe we have to change he canon designs a little bit but its worth seeing asmo using his horns for yoga/excerside purposes TT

I hadn't considered that there could be joints beneath the hair. And if there's anybody else who should have horns that can move, it should be Asmo. Exactly because I love the image of him doing yoga with them... I keep imagining him in one of those super eighties/nineties leotard and leggings outfits, with leg warmers on his legs but also little ones on his horns adlkfjfjklf. He's doing one of those step routines and the horns are pinching and unpinching on beat.

He's out in the garden on a yoga mat in warrior pose with his little pincer horns all stretched out parallel to his arms...

I wonder if Asmo ever paints his horns? Or otherwise decorates them? I mean, I haven't seen any such things in official art. But I kinda think he'd be more likely to experiment with the appearance of his demon appendages.

Farscape rewatch: 2x03

Taking the Stone is considered a lesser ep but I really really like it. (The only eps in S2 I find dull are Dream a Little Dream and The Locket. Yeah, I know The Locket is ultra-shippy and I am a shipper, but there it is...) This ep tho - I am very fond of.

What do I love about TtS? For one thing, it has an amazing set design. I love the image of the grave planet, stark blue and blacks and inks. I love Chiana's back-story, her love and loss for her brother (because Chiana is, like Crichton, all about family, because like Crichton, she's lost her own, is lost in the world, and is trying to make a new one).

I love seeing Crichton on edge. He's slowly been slipping further and further and I love that he is beginning to notice.

The chip/PTSD mix is in a way a scifi take on the mental illness experience (and part of it is real world and not a metaphor because while brain chips are not real, Crichton also clearly has severe trauma after torture even without that, and that is very much real) because you may know something is wrong but you do doubt yourself - because the brain is in charge of deciding what is correct and not and so when it’s off track then what. And the feeling of knowing you are acting “wrong” but not being able to stop it is quite a literal take on the feeling. I also love that Aeryn and the others don't notice, won't notice until it's too late, even when he'll tell Aeryn he hears Scorpius in his head in Look at the Princess. I think it's because as fellow-Earthlings, we forget how off-kilter Crichton must come across to the Moyans anyway, with his weird speech patterns and references that make no sense. So they can't tell he is being odder than usual because he is always odd (remember S1 and Aeryn and Zhaan's 'he is Crichton' conclusion at Chrichton's freak out in the Matala ep). It's only when he starts acting bizarre, physical actions, like not fighting Scorpius, trying to kill Aeryn, that they really notice. (Of course, they are also not familiar with PTSD in general, but here it's something more severe of course). 

But to get back to TtS. Crichton can't let go, can he? Not of the 'family' he's finally got. He will go off-kilter, doing crazy things for those he loves, and it's not the result of Crichton losing his mind, it's just him. Eating potentially deadly mushroom to get answers is Crichton just dialed up to 11. In a way, his experiences are distilling him to the essentials. He is so adrift, so terrified of losing the few people he cares about, he goes irrational (any time Aeryn is the calm and reasonable one you know something is off.)

Death is very real to him now and so he obsesses over it coming to those he cares for as much as Chiana does in this ep, tho from a different angle.

His frustration of having to let Chiana go is palpable and what comes the most to me from this ep is the bond between Chiana and John. When he cheers for her when she jumps 'you did it' or when they walk off and they both mimic that arms pose the planet people do?

I think it's significant that this ep centers around the 'death' of Nerri because in a way, Crichton might be replacing his missing sisters (though I don't think he was ever as close to them as he will get to Chiana. They were never in extreme situations like this), but Chiana is replacing her brother with him.

Oh, and yet another gloriously consistent thing - no easy outs. Crichton and co solve the mystery that what makes the clans die early is radiation and solution is easy - just live on the surface. Any other show once our protags would tell the people, they would all be saved. Not here. Crichton tells them, they take a vote and decide to stay and keep dying. They believe him but it changes nothing for them.

when i got into vat7k my need to draw ALL of them just got SO much stronger bc i realized how separated the fandom rlly was from the tts one??? nobody really talked much about the main cast in reference to the 7k kids and vice versa and i just couldn’t stop thinking about all the different character interactions……..

i have so many underrated dynamics i think about SO much that i have yet to make art for….like kiera and catalina and yong…. nuru and rapunzel….quirin and hugo….yong and lance….donella and rapunzel….and even some dynamics between the main cast that are CRIMINALLY underrated like….the brotherhood in general and lance and basically ANYONE outside of eugene and the girls 😭😭

idk i just. have so many thoughts abt this little family and they make me so EMOTIONAL. i’ve tried to draw smaller groups before but if i’m not drawing a specific dynamic i usually just can’t bring myself to exclude everyone else

so many of these characters get pushed aside so much both by the show and the fandom so despite how much more effort it takes me to pose everyone and draw all my complicated little outfits and render everything it’s SO worth it because i just love seeing my favorite little group of criminals being happy <3 they are literally everything to me

The evening was cool, as usual for February. The lights in the Ninjago City shops went out in turn. But one noodle sign in particular remained lit. Its mythical sign "Welcome to Chen's Noodle Restaurant". At this late hour, the calm and happy customers no longer paid any attention to this sign. But a completely different kind of customer does.

The restaurant is quiet. Everyone was eating noodles in an eerie silence. No one was talking, just the sound of conveyor belts serving food. The sound of mouths and chopsticks rubbing against bowls filled with noodles. The most stressed customers stared at everyone else. In its darkest hours, this restaurant resembled a western saloon. Everyone stares at each other, as if for survival, but no one moves. According to them, they are far too precious, even for petty criminals.

While everything was going well, much to the delight of the owner and certain customers. The calm quickly became a chaotic mess. A group of men entered the restaurant, under a dish of disgusting words and a list of incomprehensible words. Their voices echoed throughout the restaurant, breaking the religious silence. The five men walked towards the last free table. Away from suspicion and icy stares. Although their path to this table had not gone unnoticed. Each of them had made quite a mess of the tables they occupied. Spilling bowls on faces, sticking wooden chopsticks up noses and incestuous taunts. The only ones who tried to fight back were laughed at by five mad men. Nothing could stop them, they said.

The most dominant man in the group, which can be "a leader". Strides in like a peacock ready to woo the lady. Slumped on the counter, in a flirtatious pose straight out of a cheap movie. He begins to speak in a suave voice, a little exaggerated.

"Hello my sweet ladybird, still working here," he asks with a flirtatious smile under the mockery of his comrades. "Shut up," he whispers aggressively, before turning back to the redhead.

"You're blocking my carpets and the customers aren't going to be happy," she said without much interest in her charming act.

"I know that deep down you love me, just as I love you."

"I swear if there's a single piece of my noodles on the floor it's you and you're four funny guys who polish it until it shines, the dry tone echoes in the ears of the evening's regulars, this is going to end badly."

"My ladybird has a fiery tongue, but what about in bed?" he asks with a perverse smile that could make any man or woman vomit.

That question was the last straw in Skylor's patience. In anger, his hand rose and fell with a dull sound, echoing through the restaurant. As if it had been the only sound for five minutes. Leaving everyone satisfied but scared of what might happen next. A red mark forms on his face. Anger and surprise read on his face. As he raised his head to face the young woman's act of bravery or stupidity. Deep laughter filled his bloody, ashamed ears. Turning back to the voice, he saw an old friend. At that moment he thought that if he couldn't hit a woman, why not a bastard who owed him money. A lot of money. A sadistic smile spread across his face, still red with shame. So his henchmen quickly understood the following pattern.

Not forgetting the affront she had just given him. He turns to her and threatens her openly.

"One more time and you'll be a ladybird without the red".

Like a tidal wave the whole previous episode has been swept away. In his brain the only thing he wants is to take this man down and get his money back. This man was only a few steps away from him. But anyone who was there can tell you that he would have walked forever. While he was just sitting on the counter eating noodles, an ordinary citizen. Like a predator he approached him and grabbed his prey by the shoulder wearing his orange armour. A smile that could make a grandparent's wallpaper peel off.

"Ah," he exhaled in satisfaction before resuming, "My good old friend Ronin," he said, increasing his grip on him."

"Tidus, it's been a long time," he said, concentrating on his bowl, "how's your last girlfriend been since we knew you were getting laid."

The man had a sneer at the edge of his lips, which he could easily hide under his hat. But the man he was talking to laughed yellow. He winced in displeasure before answering.

"She left just afterwards," he admitted in a low voice to avoid any further embarrassment.

"I already knew that, before you told me, she came back to me, her grin turned into a toothy grin, maybe you should have looked after her better," he said before cracking a low laugh that didn't go unnoticed by the blond Tidus.

One joke too many, one minute too many wasted listening to that idiot. he said before gripping the back of his head firmly. His hat had fallen to the ground, revealing his smile and his new face. This surprised Tidus, Ronin now had a camera over his right eye. He didn't know what it was and he didn't care. He found a way to persecute him a little.

"Ronin, ronin, look at how ugly and bitter you've become over time. The money I lent you wasn't enough to make you beautiful again," laughter could be heard behind Tidus, who was pleased with his remark.

"Money, loan," he repeated like a holy prayer full of venom.

His eyes went wide with fear and a nervous laugh came from his mouth. Tidus reveled in the sound of fear to inflate his ego.

Without thinking Ronin threw a tray of sushi from the conveyor belt into Tidus's face. Surprised, he dropped his skull, removing the rice from his carefully prepared outfit. Meanwhile Ronin had already taken off running towards the exit door. But he was stopped when his head hit the counter and the conveyor belt. This made him turn towards his attacker, who was none other than one of the four members of Tidus's group. His nose bled, but it wasn't broken. Fortunately, he said. He needed more, even though he was no longer young. Meanwhile, his attacker had already launched him towards the wall to his right. Head first, breaking his new detection module. Money down the drain. Ronin could do nothing more, too stunned for the moment.

Her legs gave out on her, like the traitors they are. Leaving his helplessness as a spectacle for the others. While his brain is half disconnected, he feels his body being lifted up by his arms. No one moves a toe, not even Skylor. She'd always said that she never wanted to have any problems with settling scores. He was dragged through the streets of Ninjago City. Once they reach a small alleyway, away from prying eyes, they toss Ronin like a sack of potatoes. As if he was worthless. As he tries to stand up to regain a modicum of ego. He was quickly dealt blows by the four men. Making him fall forward once again, he quickly positioned himself to protect his stomach, as well as himself.

Five minutes passed, but Ronin felt as if it had been going on for an eternity. Punches, kicks and spitting on his screwdriver, as well as insults. Meanwhile Tidus watched, smoking his cigar. It was like a film. He couldn't take it any more, his body couldn't take it any more, but his brain and his dignity said otherwise. Just when he thought his ordeal was over, his battered body ended up on its knees. Facing Tidus, to see the masterpiece, "His masterpiece".

"So you thought you could take my girl and my money without any trouble," he said, taking a drag from his cigar, "don't answer, it wasn't a question. For days I've been dreaming of getting my hands on you and making you eat my boots."

His screwing hit the ground hard, as Tidus' foot used all its strength to immobilise him. His body could do nothing, too ruined for the moment. Seeing no reaction from him, the man above him sneered, his hiss of pain his only response. Tidus sucked in a little of his cigar, blowing all the smoke into his face. Ronin didn't even react, too used to the cigar or his brain had stopped working. Tidus could see he was tired. Blood was dripping from his lips, nose and the top of his head. The only thing he wanted to do was make sarcastic comments. But he didn't do that to avoid making his current situation worse. Ronin was in a bad way. But did he get what he deserved?

"Tidus brought his cigar close to Ronin's face. A survival instinct suddenly returned to his brain. He moved like an earthenware glass to get out of there, but the force above him was far greater than he was. What an idea to drink alcohol just before going out to eat. Out of the corner of his free eye, he sees the cigar a few centimetres from his cheek, and can feel the heat it gives off. Accepting his fate, he closes his eyes, anticipating the pain.

"Let him go," asks a voice a little further down the alley.

"Why should we listen to you?" asks Tidus, almost laughing.

Ronin could no longer keep his eyes open. His brain wanted to slap his body to stay awake and run away. But he couldn't. In what seemed like a fight, Ronin fell asleep. Ironically used to it.

It was only a few minutes later that his body received a tingling sensation in his face. Afraid of what it might be, he grabbed the wrist in front of him. Startled, the young man stepped back, falling onto his buttocks. With a glimmer of licidity, Ronin realised that he couldn't hurt him. Releasing his red wrist, he picked up the bottle of alcohol with his other hand.

"What's that," asks Ronin suspicious of the bottle's container.

"It's disinfectant," said the young man still sitting dumbfounded at his rude awakening.

"Why is it marked hooch," he asks, pointing to the label.

In embarrassment, the young man replied "because it is". Thanks to this answer, he could hear Ronin laugh for the first time. Which had been rare for years. Ronin quickly brought the bottle to his mouth and, without thinking too hard, began to drink. But he spat it out as quickly as he could. The taste was very bitter, at least not in the usual way. Seeing how bad the bottle was, he threw it into the street. With the sound of breaking glass echoing throughout the street.

"You don't have a relative," asks Ronin, watching the liquid escape from the shards of glass."

"Er, it's complicated," admitted the boy, looking at the ground sadly.

Ronin could see the sadness in her eyes. A ball of empathy formed in his stomach. He himself had little contact with his parents. His mother died a few years after he was born and his father only saw her as a weakling for the forge. He never knew if he had a brother after he left or if he had an uncle. To be honest, as he got older, he would have liked to know, but what would he think of him? Who would want a pathetic thief. He often said this in his drunken stupor. Ronin wasn't the worst of thieves, he knew that. But where he grew up, he was a disgrace. An outcast.

The young chestnut sat down next to him, his back against the wall as he did, and crossed his legs. The men stayed like that for a few seconds, staring at the wall in front of them, in an awkward silence. Neither of them dared speak, neither of them knew what to say so as not to embarrass the other. So they remained silent for a few more minutes. Enjoying the silence, compare to earlier. Ronin didn't want to rest on this little one, but he was so tired and wanted to take any human warmth for himself. Her body slid gently towards him, until their shoulders touched. Putting some of her weight on him. He didn't refuse.

"Thank you for helping me, not many people would have wanted to help me," he admitted in a whisper.

"It's nothing, I did what I thought was right. That's why I want to become a doctor, to heal and help," he confessed in a voice full of ambition.

"Your parents will be very proud of you, I'm sure. As for me, I hope you'll always patch me up," he cracks a joke to relax a little.

"It's going to be really tough."

The young man paused to look sadly at the pendant around his heart. Ronin grunted softly, as if in response. But in reality he was falling asleep, as comfortable as he could be. As if he was at ease and wasn't going to get killed on his way out of the alley. The young man removed the chain from his neck to open the pendant. To reveal a photo of a beautiful woman on the left and another young woman on the right. Ronin opened his eyes and was startled to discover a ghost from his past. A very good ghost, he's actually the bad ghost in the story. At first he thought he'd seen wrong, the lighting wasn't in his favour. They were in a less dark corner now. But yes, he did recognise this woman, who made his heart vibrate with joy every time he went to see her in secret. A childhood sweetheart. His everyday love. The world revolved around him, fortunately for him. Nori, as he called herself, was there or he would have run away. Out of fear, or disgust for himself.

"My… My mum died a few years ago now. The doctors said she died of cancer, but I think she was sad she'd never see our dad again."

The sky fell on him, no Ninjago City fell on him. He never thought she'd die so young. Every word after "dead" had been shredded. He couldn't understand anything, everything was a blur. But he had to pretend that everything was fine and find out more, so as not to get any hasty ideas.

"And she's your girlfriend," he said to change the conversation in a humorous tone, pointing to the other photo."

"What! No, she's my twin sister, Ninon… Mum often said she looked a lot like Dad. But we never saw her. It was taboo in the family. Even in his own family, apparently. They're beautiful, aren't they," he says, pointing at the photos like a child showing a drawing to his parents.

"Mmmh… Very", Ronin had run out of answers.

If he concentrated carefully he could see it. It was the famous line on his face that he had been familiar with for so long. He always wanted to see it again. Her smile, her eyes, the way she breathed and the charm she exuded. He saw her in him. In his son. Now he knows for sure that Nori is his son. And so is Ninon. But he was also very surprised to hear the news like this. He is still pleasantly surprised, as if he knew that all these years he had two beautiful children. Loved and cherished by their mother and grandparent. At that moment he told himself that it would be better if he didn't know the truth, if ever. Too afraid of anything happening to them. After all, it's a father's job to protect his children. He doesn't want to be like his father. He might as well never exist…

A father's regrets are eternally engraved in his heart by their choice…

For me canonically Ronin at 44 years in the series, this one-shot is before the series. So maybe in the 38 years at least after meeting Soul Archer. That's why he has his eyepiece.
