“It's so nice out tonight” you breathed out as you looked up at the pretty night sky, the fairy lights that adored and draped around the outside restaurant created a beautiful ambience. You looked away from the sky and rested your elbow on the table and your chin on your palm as you looked across the table at your date with a small smile. He was already looking at you, his cheeks flushed as he took in your beauty. You raised your eyebrow and tease him with a small smirk “You seem to have lot of experience planning dates.” 

“What? Oh . . . No I ⸺ i'm really bad at planning dates really!” Logan replied quickly with a shake of his head, he did not want you to think he had a lot of experience, because he really didn't. He just really liked you and spent hours planning a great date to take you on. You couldn't help but giggle at Logan's nervous and slightly frantic tone. You found it so endearing how nervous he was and how well he planned the date. 

“Relax Logan, I'm just messing with you” You smiled sweetly as you reached your other hand to lace yours with his that rested on the table. Logan let out a heavy breath and returned the smile as he laced his hand with yours, his thumb softly caressing your skin. He wasn't always this nervous, he couldn't help but be when he was with you. You were just so perfect, so pretty, you naturally took charge and you just oozed confidence . . . how could he not be? 

The two of you locked eyes, both of you finding yourself getting lost in each other's eyes. You couldn't help but look back on the day you have had with the sweet American. Technically the date started in the afternoon, the two of you touring and him taking you to his favorite spots, before taking you to a museum he knew you would love. He wasn't really the museum type, but he was willing to do anything you wanted. It's been a great day together. 

“Here are your appetizers” The sound of the waiter's voice broke the intense eye contact the two of you shared. You looked away from him first and gave the waiter a small smile, reluctantly letting go of Logan's hand as you said a small thank you. The waiter smiled and set the two plates on the table and told them to enjoy the food, before leaving them. 

You take your fork into your hand and take a bite of the appetizer that took you several minutes to choose. A hum of satisfaction leaves your lips after you swallow the first bite. Logan smiles and glances back down at his bowl of greens and fruit, still having to keep up with his diet for driving. You wipe the corners of your mouth with the napkin and rest it back on your lap “Wow this is really good, how did you find this place?” 

“I found it last season when we had a few days off before a race” Logan replied after he stopped chewing, grabbing his glass and taking a large sip of water, his hands shaking slightly as held the glass, still as nervous. Logan cleared his throat and got a good amount of everything on his fork and lifted up for you “Wanna try mine?” 

“Sure” You smiled leaning forward and opening your mouth slightly, Logan blushes and carefully slides the fork into your mouth holding his hand under the fork so he would catch anything if it spilled. Such a gentleman you mused as you chew the salad, you swallow and lick your lips. 

“Mhm you have great taste” You smiled as you leaned back in your chair, your eyes twinkling in slight mischief, knowing that you weren't just meaning his taste in food. Logan chuckles and nods in agreement and before he could try to respond with some cheeky response, he's cut off by the sound of you coughing. His eyes widen and he holds out his water for you, you clear your throat and take a sip of the water. “Sorry i don't know where that came from.” 

“Went down the wrong pipe?” Logan smiled reassuringly, patting your hand softly when you set down the glass of water. You try to smile but you frown instead when you feel a familiar tingling on your tongue and lips, you bring your other hand up to rub at your neck that was starting to throb “My, my throat feels funny” you lick your lips and look up at logan who was already giving you a look of worry. “Does that salad have sesame seeds or oil in it?” 

Logan's eyes widen and grabs his fork and moves around the salad to search for it, his heart dropping when he sees sesame seeds . . . the food you are extremely allergic to. He's up before he could even think, moving to your side and getting on his knees, his hands frantically searching through your bag for your EpiPen he knew you always carried with you as you sat in your chair. The tingling was starting to get worse, and you were finding it harder to breathe. 

“Oh my god fuck it's not in here” Logan curses and he looked through your small purse, all you had were a few lip-glosses, your keys, wallet and some hair ties, but no EpiPen. “What?” Your tone was filled with fear and your eyes were starting to glaze over with tears and it just broke his heart. Logan quickly pulled out his phone and dialed up 911. You looked away from him and down at your lap as you tried to calm down your breathing, Logan quickly told the dispatch what happened and gave them the address. 

“It's okay, it's okay there on their way okay” Logan tried to reassure you but he himself was also panicking, he moved some of your hair out of your face and cupped your cheek. You nodded softly and cleared your throat, a painful cough escaping your lips. You heard the sound of multiple footsteps and the familiar sound of the waiter's voice, but you couldn't focus on them as Logan explained what was going on, one of the waiters rushing to get you more water. 

The minutes seemed to fly by and before you could tell Logan that you were starting to feel dizzy you heard the distant sound of the ambulance alarm. Logan lets out a sigh of relief and quickly grabs your bag and coat off your chair before helping you stand up and holding you close, leading you towards the front of the restaurant where the ambulance was pulling in. The flashing lights made you wince and lean more against Logan as your eyes fluttered close. 

He had his arm around your waist in a strong but not uncomfortable hold while his other arm was holding your things. The ambulance stopped in front of the restaurant, logan ignoring the looks they received from the people around them. An emt quickly rushes out of the back and over to the two of you, your eyes were barely open, and your ears were ringing as the emt takes you from Logan's arms and helps you into the ambulance. Sitting you down and asking you questions, your throat burned, and you didn't want to talk so Logan quickly jumped in to answer for you. 

Logan paced outside of the ambulance as he kept his eyes on you and one of the Emt’s gave you an injection of a medicine he was sure he couldn't pronounce while another asked him questions on what happened. He did his best to answer them, but he was honestly too focused on making sure you were okay. 

He felt terrible oh so incredibly guilty . . . this was his fault, the reason why you could have almost died from an allergic reaction was because of him. The emt’s stayed by your side while the medicine kicked in, and thankfully soon the tingling and pain was gone, your throat was a little sore but that was expected. You gave them all of your information and 30 minutes later Logan was walking you to his car to take you home. 

“I have an excuse not to talk” you whispered as you motioned to your neck, the two of you were sitting in his car and Logan was about to start the car. Logan was unusually quieter than normal, and you were really hoping that he wasn't blaming himself. You continued whispering “But what's yours?” 

“I’m so sorry, i totally ruined our date and almost killed you ⸺ i really like you and i wanted this to go perfectly and i ruined it, this is all my fault” Logan quickly rushed out as he turned in his seat to face you, his eyes filled with guilt and a frown on his lips. You couldn't help but grin at his words, he likes you . . . he likes you. Logan gives you a look of confusion when he sees your grin, he was fully prepared for you to be upset with him ⸺ for literally almost killing you but instead . . . you were smiling at him? 

“Are you okay? Are you feeling weird from the medicine? Should I call them again?” Logan panicked as he reached for his phone, but you grabbed his hand and laced your fingers with his, they were shaking. Logan looked down at your laced hands and you rubbed your thumb over his as you whispered “I feel fine . . . perfect actually.” 

“Perfect?” 

“This isn't your fault, Logan. I'm the one who forgot my EpiPen'' You squeezed his hand reassuringly as you looked into his pretty eyes, you really didn't want him to blame himself for a simple and accidental mistake. “And I really like you too logan . . . i have for a while now, today went perfectly.” 

How could you not like him? He was a complete gentleman, so caring . . . so perfect. 

“Perfectly?” Logan whispered and if he wasn't so shocked he would have felt embarrassed for the way his voice cracked. He was sure that you would never want to talk to him again after tonight, and he wouldn't have blamed you. You couldn't help but giggle and nod your head as you watched him try to process everything you said “Mhm” 

“And you really like me” Logan whispered, his beautiful blue eyes filled with happiness, you smiled and leaned across the center console to place a soft kiss on his flustered cheek, slowly pulling away and watching as Logan's eyes followed your lips before looking up to lock eyes with you as you whisper “I like you a lot.” 

Logan smiled and leaned his face closer to you, your lips almost touching, and your breath hitched at how close he was to you, his eyes asked for permission, and you were the one to make the next move, closing your eyes and placing your lips on his in a soft kiss. He used his free hand to cup your cheek, tilting his head to deepen the kiss. Reluctantly only pulling away so the two of you could catch your breath. 

Logan grinned as he whispered against your lips, “Wanna come to mine and order a pizza?” you giggle and nod quickly, bringing your hand up to wipe the small amount of your lip-gloss that transferred to his bottom lip. You whispered back teasingly “As long as i get to pick the toppings.” 

“Sounds perfect to me.”

update: where i've been part two

hi! hello! my beautiful friends!

good god i have missed you so very much. i am so sorry i've been away.

back in september of last year i popped onto tumblr to tell you all where i've been. i had every intention of coming back to write but it just... never happened. i got sucked back into the vacuum of school and thesis and old friends and new friends and a new relationship with a really lovely girl.

i've been thinking a lot about why i haven't been active on here. tbh i don't go a day without thinking of this community and the stories i've left unfinished and untended to. heads up, the next couple of paragraphs are a little personal, so please treat them with some tenderness.

the fall brought a lot of really big changes for me and looking back i realize my stopping writing on here is a result of me trying to integrate those big changes into my life.

first off, i've been working nonstop on a book (a book!!!) which is also my thesis for my master's. i really underestimated how much time and creative energy this book would take. i've learned so much though, both in regards to form and craft, but also as a person, finding out so much about who i am.

then, after the combination of moving away from my shitty old apartment, changing my thesis project from anger and depression to something focused on joy and reconnection, and making some big mindset changes, i felt so strangely free. 🌱 at first, i thought it was just a windfall. that it'd last for a couple of days. but as the fall semester went on, i felt lasting relief from some mental health issues i've been struggling with as a result of a horrible, horrible relationship that lasted the entirety of my teen years. the change was incredible. it was like my body and mind were functioning again. i felt happy. like actually, really happy. and when i wasn't happy, i was content.

on top of that, this fall prompted me to re-explore my sexuality. i didn't know where my relationship with fanfiction fit into this new understanding of myself, and i'm still parsing it apart.

so. i'm still figuring all of these things out, and i think having a space away from showing up online was really crucial to that growth.

every day i've been away from tumblr i've missed it and i've missed you guys and i think it's time to come back. last year this time, i was writing 1k+ a day for sh., and the seasons reminded me of how special and wonderful it was to be deep in that creative process. i don't know if it's realistic to promise a chapter a month, but i would like to put out a chapter in the next two weeks, as i've been working on it bit by bit over the last couple of months.

this is all to say:

sh. and my unfinished projects will continue, as will new projects. i'm going to keep writing.

thank you all for being here, even when i'm not. you all are such a beautiful community and i feel so so happy to be a part of this group of fantastic people.

Episode 21: Minkowski Commanding

Okay. Have I done enough to earn a break? No. Have I done a lot and am complete burnt out? Yeah. So let's do this. I have had a LOT of mutual hype around this episode, so I'm ready to be dazzled.

I'm also eating and work while I listen, so sorry if my notes get short (I say knowing full well I'm gonna get distracted and type insane amounts of notes).

MINKOWSKI? I think this is the first episode she'd done the "welcome to Wolf359" thing. Or maybe I'm just unobservant (I also will often accidently skip the welcome phrase because I press the 30sec ahead button to skip commercials).

Enemy? Being watched? Oh... is this about Blessie isn't it 😂

I love this. We still don't know where Blessie came from and what he wants. Why not take him back to Cutter? Since he apparently loves aliens so much, maybe you can feed him to Blessie. In the meantime I supposed Hilbert will do as a mid-flight snack.

Reached an understanding? That's true. It DID have opportunities to kill you. But it no longer wants you dead. Which is interesting, because it did before. And that makes me think that it might want Hilbert dead. Because it took over Hilbert's mind and said to Eiffel "you are no better than the oppressor" so perhaps it blames Hilbert for it's creation.

"It wants what we want. To survive. To make it somewhere. To not be in the dark."

That's beautiful and yeah, Blessie can't thrive in space, plants need light.

Spacecraft? Hopefully rescue. But given that it's season 2, I have doubt. One lifeform.

Who is that? ISABEL LOVELACE? SHE'S ALIVE?

(I say as if I didn't see her name pop up 50x before I blocked the tags...still an interesting way for her to return).

Hilbert you lying liar. Tsk-tsk. Looks like she didn't incinerate. But...she couldn't survive in a pod for a year and a half. So...how?

Is this really Isabel Lovelace?

Is she from the past? The future? Is she a clone or science experiment made by Cutter and Hilbert to trick everyone? Is she the real empty man?

Oh and for the record, I've gotten messages from people asking why I keep talking about the empty man. I assumed that that was a real invisible creature that snuck aboard based on what Hera and Hilbert were saying about it in the alone episode (Hera mentions an invisible unseen presence she won't tell them about, and Hilbert hears a knock on his door and asks "why are you here? You weren't here on the other missions?"), but apparently I've been played like a fiddle. Would for sure fail that psych eval, but it's not even an ethical or standardized evaluation in the first place, so I don't feel bad at all about that.

Also, side note, you know what gets me the most about so many fictional (and unfortunately some irl) "men of great science" who do super bad and unethical things all in the name of their great work? Well, besides all the unethical stuff? It's that most of the time, their "genius experiments" aren't even good science. They're just doing random stuff in the hopes that something will work itself out, usually without any attempt at a control group, sometimes they don't even take their own safety into account, other times they don't even know enough about what they're doing to come to any sensible conclusion or account for unintended consequences. "Oh sacrifices must be made for the greater good, oh genius men like me don't need to abide by ethics" okay well can you at least abide by common sense or is that too genius for you? The point is I don't really care how smart you are, pride cancels out intellect, and at this rate Hilbert and Cutter are gonna get themselves and everyone else killed. I don't think Cutter is even a scientist. He calls himself "Mr. Cutter" (not doctor) and talks about money like he's a business man villain trusting Hilbert to do the science, which, bad move buddy. Bad move.

Episode 22: Mutually Assured Destruction

Oh boy. Two commanders lead to conflict. We're gonna need to establish some ground rules.

Vessel to return to earth? Yeah, it does seem impossible. Oh...interesting. An astrophysics figures out how to get back to earth. Then said astrophysicist disappears. What a crazy coincidence.

Oh. THAT'S why they don't have an astrophysicist this time. They want to make sure they don't get that close to getting back this time.

"12 hours later she vanished" ...did she open some kind of gateway, or did command vaporize her?

Ah yes, Dr. Selburg. Yeah he does get sloppy. It seems one of his assignments was to not let them return to earth. But there's a grey door that he opens which apparently allows him to come back each time. Interesting.

Incapacitated him? How? And...how did Hilbert survive?

So...Lovelace was in cryo-sleep and went back to the Hephaestus?

Well...I have a theory: Command sent you back and compromised you so that you would take Hilbert's place as their inside man. Or woman. But it sounds like she's a bit more in the dark about what happened than he is.

Rhea.🥺Aw. A moment of silence for the fallen AI.

Oh yeah. Show her Hilbert.

Yes: "What happened to Captain Lovelace?" Get him commander. Get him!

Oh Hilbert. I hope for your sake this isn't a boy who cried wolf situation.

"They would never" Hilbert man you are drinking the Kool-Aid, command is using you. You are not indispensable.

Lovelace seems pretty eager for violence.

Interesting...Hilbert terrified of something. We didn't see that with anyone or anything else. Clone or robot replica? Good idea Doug.

I also wonder: was Hilbert always afraid of Lovelace? Or is he only afraid of her now that she's back?

"Is everything a joke to you" at this point, I think it has to be. How else do you survive this?

No long on Lovelace's ship? The computer not turned on before this morning? Then...where has it come from? It's highly unlikely that she would survive in space for three years. But Doug has a point. If these are lies, she should have a better one.

Hera...why are you unsure of whether you can help with the ship? It's hard to tell when she's hesitating due to code interference, having hesitation because the plan is bad, and hesitating because she doubts herself.

Oh yeah...this is awkward. It's like if you discovered another family living in your house and you started touching their stuff (because it's yours).

Um. Yeah. You might want to drop the plant monster bomb slowly...

Interesting. Hera seems to REALLY not like this new ship. But...why? Again, it's hard to tell when she's nervous, leading them astray, or has a legit concern.

She...she wouldn't be able to go with them. 🥺 Oh. Yeah. They do have families, at least Minkowski does. So...I guess they'd need to go home. But then poor Hera would be all alone. 💥 COLLISON - what emotions do they have trouble dealing with?:

Rin-rin:

Rin-rin is a highly emotional person in general. This can be a good thing! She's extremely passionate about the things and/or people she loves and devotes herself to them whole-heartedly, but on the other side of the coin she's easy to rile up.

She is not good at dealing with anger. She doesn't tell people when she's upset and lets it build up until she lashes out. She's never hurt anybody, because she has a very strong internal moral code, but she has, on more than one occasion, kicked through a brick wall in a fit of rage. Monokuro gets upset with her for this, but also really likes watching Rin-rin break stuff.

Monokuro:

Monokuro is not actually very good at dealing with his emotions in general. Outwardly, he is incredibly stoic, but internally has a fairly high strung personality. He's very emotionally intelligent when it comes to other people's feelings, but not very good at pin-pointing his own feelings.

He's very overwhelmed and has a lot going on at all times what with the whole being The Demon King thing, so he just kinda files away his feelings to be a problem for future Monokuro to deal with. This works out a little better than you'd expect, but not by much.

🍟 FRIES - do they order food often? or they prefer to cook their own food?:

Rin and Mono live together so I can actually answer for both of them here! Neither of them have any idea how to cook.

Rin-rin can make rice and eggs and that's about it. Kei usually cooked for her when they couldn't go to The Association's dining hall.

Monokuro grew up as a prince and has probably never even been into the castle's kitchen.

They don't "order food" as much as they're both used to getting food from some sort of caregiver. Rin-rin will occasionally go to the human world to get takeaway, but only if she's craving something specific.

my favorite breeds are Guardians, Skydancers, and Aberrations!

i don't know why i love guardians so much really. maybe it's because it was my chosen progen breed but they're also just huge loveable dragons to me... i like their lore as well so that could be another factor

skydancers are great because 1. wind flight breed 2. their lore is interesting 3. i cant get enough of them. i want SO MANY skydancers they're just gorgeous!

aberrations are my favorite ancient since they're two-headed and two-tailed! to me they're very plural but some other people interpret them as having one mind, shared with two heads- not to me, both heads are their own individuals in my idea! i like to give them each their own names for that reason. i only have one at the moment but i hope to find more pretty ones to add to my lair!

honorable mention for Gaolers and Pearlcatchers on that list because i like them a lot too (gaolers fluffy and pearlcatchers have cool lore) but not enough to be considered a 'favorite' for me

i do have lore, but i'm doing a bad job at actually writing it down or getting more work done on it besides a few vague ideas mixed together. some of my dragons have lore in their bios but i haven't written down the story of the whole clan-

in a short vague summary of things: my clan was founded by Malgam (my custom progen) who wanted to create a community for misfits and outcasts. their goal is to create a place where dragons who are outside the "norm" can be safe and find acceptance, understanding and be celebrated as who they are.

🌱 - What name, breed and colors did you choose for your custom progen and why?

Malgam was named such based on the word "Amalgam" which literally just means 'a mixture of different elements'. i dont really remember why i chose this name in particular but i guess it could be a representation of the diverse community he wishes to foster? that could work maybe. be patient with me LOL

as for the breed: guardian was my choice, mostly because i just preferred its design over mirror, fae or tundra, i think... it was the most 'classic dragon' choice and i also liked the name 'guardian' for what it represented

the colors i chose were beige and lavender, based on the queer chevron flag:

i chose beige because the white on this flag is actually an 'off-white', and i thought beige would match that. i could have also chosen silver- it's closer to the off-white in the flag, but beige is what i preferred when i spent my time deciding on colors. i think they look just fine with beige/lavender anyway:

King 👑: he’d plan a trip for just them and fly out with them. Once they’re in a special spot, he’d talk to them and share how feels about his child.

Sorry I missed a couple days (oops) been really busy!! Oooh I wanna say I wish I were you (like doing things WAYYY in advance instead of at the last minute) but I can also see how stressful and annoying that tendency can be. Both the extremes suck 😩

Re: shows, I mean, I just think it's ways of trying to cram our brains with content so you have something to do, y'know? And as for stranger things, I see your point about they should've stuck to original lore but I also kinda like all the stuff they brought in, it was a little messy but it also felt huge and in some ways it seemed to tie up with the rest of the lore for me so I quite liked it. Even if it's a little bit of an extreme leap. I need them to make more black mirror and I'll deffo get back to you when I watch midnight mass AND 1899.

Re pasta: I like all kinds of pasta dishes. We make a lot of creamy garlic penne pasta with chicken. We also kinda just modify it a lot sometimes to fit our own cultural tastes and make it spicy. It's just good no matter what.

godddd christmas shopping is gonna kill me i think lol my whole family just thought we had more time and all of a sudden it’s the week before christmas and we were scrambling to get gifts and paying for expedited shipping so they arrive on time 💀 i feel like the family on home alone the day they leave for vacation but instead. it’s just us trying to christmas shop. and i love that about the tree! do you guys have a fake or real one? this is the first year i’ve ever known us to have a fake one. the real ones were just super expensive this year which made me sad :/ christmas never feels the same if we don’t have the smell of a real tree in our living room 🤧
