“you look good,” that was something that the internet had told kevin to say. he had reread the bullet pointed list over and over again while sat in matt’s truck just outside. “how are you?”

andrew opted for the silent treatment, sat across from kevin in a grey crewneck and sweatpants to match. he’d been explicit in his instructions not to visit - but with neil in evermore, kevin was going crazy, and he couldn’t stop thinking about what had happened, the things he’d seen, the way andrew smiled the last time he’d seen him.

kevin had to make sure for himself that andrew was okay.

the way he stared across the table at him with a mixture of anger and boredom on his face, a coldness in his eyes that he’d never seen before; it threw kevin, and he wondered if he’d done the right thing by coming.

“i need you to know that i’m here for you,” that was number two on the list. your mentally ill loved ones need as much support as they can get on their journey to recovery. “i need you to know that someone cares.”

but andrew didn’t tell him to leave - and perhaps that was answer enough that he wasn’t too angry at his presence. all kevin had to do was avoid just one question;

“where’s neil?”

(aka kevin decides to visit andrew in easthaven, and probably regrets it)
