“tae? is that you?” a feminine voice calls and taehyun’s breath hitches.

“you’re acting as if we don’t even know each other.” her voice flattens, mimicking taehyun’s.

“is this the new girl? is that why you’re pretending we didn’t happen? i expected you to go for someone… prettier, skinnier; more like me, you know?” she says with a small laugh.

“now that you’ve stopped apologizing,” you start, “let’s make some coffee.”

coffee also turned into lunch, which turned into a movie. the sun had set hours ago, and the two of you sat on your couch comfortably.

“hey, y/n?” taehyun breaks the silence as the movie ends. you nod, eager to hear what he wants to ask.

“are you okay?” he asks and you nod.

“yeah. why? are you?” taehyun doesn’t respond.

“taehyun? are you okay?” you ask again and he sighs, letting his head rest on the back cushion of the couch.

“i don’t know, to be honest. seeing hee-jin again was… unpleasant.” he says with a sigh, before looking at you again.

“you deserve someone better than her, you know that, right? i barely know her, but she seems like…” you don’t want to insult his ex girlfriend. you have no idea if it’d offend him or not.

“a bitch? yeah. she is a bitch.” taehyun smiles at you tiredly. “and you’re right. i do deserve better than her.”

taehyun’s confidence seems to subside a little and he leans back.

“nothing. i was just curious.” the room goes silent. the microwave dings and you stand up to check it.

“y/n?” taehyun calls to you from the living room.

“i….” he mumbles the rest of the sentence.

“what did you say?” you ask, pouring the coffee into two mugs.

“i, um, i wanted to ask what you were making.” he says and you smile.

“mug cakes! quick, easy, delicious.” you hand taehyun his mug and a fork, resting on he couch beside him, closer than where you were before.

taehyun suddenly rests his head your shoulder and sighs. “is this okay?” he asks. you nod stiffly in response and taehyun laughs, giving you a small fuzzy feeling in your stomach.

“calm down. i won’t bite you or anything. move around if you want.” he reassures. you put your mug down on the table before you and lean your head on taehyun’s.

the fuzzy feeling in your stomach gets larger, and you can’t help but smile. taehyun’s mug cake is also on the table, equally as untouched as yours. the two of you sit in comfortable silence, resting on one another peacefully-

“Y/N?! You’ve been ignoring our messages-“

beomgyu slams the door open and you and taehyun shoot upright.

after a few seconds of silence, beomgyu gasps.
