At least that's what I think lol, could be wrong. Japanese relies a lot on context so wherever you see "I" it could very well be a "we" and vice versa. Companions/comrades "仲間" (nakama) can also be both singular and plural from what I gathered, so interpret it however you like.

Once again, my inability to resist Shugo Chara merch once I have some spare cash rears its head.

First off is a 'mini towel' that cane with.... an issue of Nakayoshi back in 2008. I can't find the exact issue it came from, but at ¥500 (€3/US$3.20, roughly) I was sold! It's a little flimsy and the seller did say they'd used it for dusting, but washed it before selling; but is still in decent condition for something that's 16 years old~ (...16 years.... help.)

Secondly is the eeo Utau standee that was originally sold at Ikebukuro Sukima Store back in March. Her design is just so??? Precious?? Lovely?? Perfect?? In any case, once I saw her pop up on JPmercari, I lunged for her. Even if she cost me nearly €28 fjskdhak And she's smaller that I expected too...

But it's my preious daughter Utau, so she's worth it~

I had a lot of trouble deciding which dress is better: PCB or IN.

PCB was the first time I saw her in game (save the less than five attempts at IN I had in 2019 but that doesn't really count).

Nothing will ever come close to the emotions I felt when I finally did see her, nor during the countless hours I spent trying to beat her. Or seeing her vaguely smug face staring at me every single time I died to "Double Black Death Butterfly." Or when I finally did beat her and she cemented herself as one of my favourite, if not my favourite, Touhou boss fights.

But that has nothing to do with her dress.

I love the long hair she has, especially with the red bows tied in it. It's a cute look! The parasol is iconic, with its strange black handle (important!) and red bow of course. The bow around her neck is quite cute as well. And of course the gap! The eyes, the fingers and hands, the bows. It's all so Yukari.

But again, that's not her dress!

Her dress is great! It's a nice shade of purple (violet?), very eye-catching, very gaudy, very very Her.

We can see a better view of it (when she's standing and not siting very bisexually) in SSiB.

What a fantastic Yukari in general!! She looks so devious and awful; an absolute wretched youkai up to no good! And I love her for it.

IN's dress is, well, as iconic as PCB's. I won't go into detail about the symbolism of the tabard and designs on it. That's already explained much better than I could in this post by Sukimas and anything I could say on that would just be re-writing that post.

I will mention the connection with the other sages and how important that is (also the fact that her shikigami also wear the tabard). It's kind of like an in-universe Yukari marker for the residents of Gensokyo. Like if you see someone wearing that tabard, you know that they're somehow associated with Yukari and that you should immediately run very far away.

Also it has more frills!

It's so poofy and nice! It's less gaudy in its colours but more gaudy in its display.

Don't get me wrong, I love PCB Yukari's dress, I just feel like the thematic connections of IN Yukari's are stronger (and "better" doesn't mean "favourite" you know?).

Last Book: Unfortunately, I haven't been reading a whole lot of books lately! The last one was probably The War of the Worlds (H.G Wells) sometime last year. Hoping to read more this year though!

Looking Forward To: Getting a new desk so I can set up a new space for my computer. Absolutely convinced a second monitor will improve my productivity lmao (it probably won't but oh well!).
