Watched the So Help Me Todd S2 premiere and I Have Thoughts

Nice to see Todd taking things to the next level and feeling even more like Shawn Spencer (even down to the helipad thing feeling totally a Shawn reaction, or maybe an Ezekiel Jones one)

Speaking of which, it seems Todd's trickster luck's still in full force (as since early on S1 SHMT I've grouped Shawn, Ezekiel and Todd together in my mind as similar tricksters who feel like they all have the same pseudo-magical freaky luck/Bugs Bunny bullshit (Shawn has been Word-Of-God said to work by Bugs Bunny rules as much as one could in a live-action setting) going on hmm maybe crossover fic potential esp. since Bugs Bunny takes a lot of Doylist influence from the mythological Loki do with that what you will )

Alison's blonde hair leading to (esp. as she might be an INFP like me) even more "self-recognition through the blorbo" (as if she'd had bangs it would look a lot like mine) and between that and how much I already am in the weird state of both relating to and crushing on Todd, if we get more depth on Lawrence and there's something other than gayness there for me to connect to (like people have said if anyone in the ensemble could be neurodivergent autistic!Lawrence is a possibility) it's going to be (albeit without the crush for the example with minors) The Middle all over again with me vibing with all three siblings and a mom a lot like mine

Speaking of dyed hair is it just me or does Margaret's look as if she dyed it black I mean seriously she looked a bit like an older Regina Mills at some points

OK so how many permissions did they had to get for how much they expied about CBS news (I mean to the degree of having a J. Giannola as an anchor and I think the weatherman's name was also similar to one of our local (Oregonian here) guys)

Love the whole Phantom Of The Opera motif with not just the lighting "chandelier" drops and the music but the culprit being the lovestruck guy with the facial disfigurement who right before the final drop said something about "love never dies" (aka the title of the POTO sequel)

Major ?! about the whole scene with Beverly and Susan and the partner track, I know firms can have more than three partners but if you'll pardon throwing a blorbo from another show briefly under the bus what is it with badass beautiful bitches named Beverly and butting their butt into everyone's business (and yes the alliteration was accidental until about halfway through)

Just going to bring this petition back around so people keep fighting to make sure this isn't the end (it being Elsbeth's lead-in (albeit two weeks later than I originally thought) indicates the network has some degree of faith but I want to make sure especially because online acquaintances in the industry have told me IF it gets a third season (but that's the operative part here) a fourth is almost a guarantee)

Mad Love / Phantom of the Opera crossover

It's images like this that bring what I call my latent Phantom of the Opera desires to the forefront.

I mean, look at this. Look at his utter absorption as he drinks in the face of his beloved, at his regard palpable even in the poise of his chin, in his lowered eyelids:

It's because of Mad Love and tons of other things that Peter would have been fabulous as the Phantom of the Opera (just as he was in a different way as the Phantom of the Ballet). He'd have used similar elements, I just know it - the obsessiveness, the fractured personality, the masterfulness. He would have made PotO his own.

And after all, Claude Rains did it without singing (I do love Claude Rains).

Now, Peter could carry quite a nice tune. See The Verdict, and even the deliberately-goofy Was Frauen Traumen. But since it's already been established that singing on the Phantom's part isn't strictly necessary, even if we do mingle up movie and musical versions...

...and we already know Peter looks divine behind a keyboard, a la Three Strangers (1946)...

...and even when he's more menacing in All Through the Night (1942). I get that he's standing up from the piano at this moment, but still...

Now.

Imagine him as Erik, the lonely Hades of his own subterranean kingdom beneath the opera house, surrounded by all the lush and profane trappings he'd acquired over the long years. It's a home and a mausoleum in one, built to last out the rest of his days with everything he needs but nothing he wants.

Jaded and dejected, he sometimes feels his heart thudding so strongly it fills his ears like a tell-tale, ticking down the hours to the death he half-longs for. Time, there's too much time no matter how he squanders it, spending hours reinforcing the horrible stories that surround him like the wings of the stage.

Bah. Parlor tricks; amateur work. It's all too easy. He who had made audiences convulse and froth with horror, he who had designed masteries of diabolical architecture for petty gods on earth! What is an off-key shriek from a chorus girl or a whites-of-the-eyes bluster from a manager to that?

It's only when someone comes too close to his home, his security, his intactness, that his heart starts beating a vibration off the true, igniting his darker, more infernal urges...

Yet when he's with his music, tempering and mastering (though he knows he's a mere student of this, this cosmic glory) the pure energy that he hears with his eyes, feels with his skin - sound masquerading as air, as life - when he's more himself than at any other time - there's a small, stubborn, ridiculously hopeful part of him that glimmers up a foolish little wish that someone could sense and feel and know the humanity left in him.

For someone to see him, really see him, away from the shadows, away from the shroud, unshielded in unfiltered daylight.

And not leave him.

Such a hope is somehow the most damning of all. Yet he can't seem to obliterate it.

And then, one day, there - ! Above in the opera house! Something new has come: A budding voice, tremulous, pure.

A voice that brings the light right down to him through the corridors and casements, shafts and stairwells, along the crooked passageway second from the left, around the dust-covered boxes spilled out into the hallway from the broken-hasped door, down alongside the subterranean lake, through his doorways and walkways and archways, down to where he sits on his throne of an organ bench, hands frozen in mid-air, transfixed, overcome.

A voice without affectation. Without guile. Without, perhaps, much timbre or assurance.

But with, somehow, comprehension. Knowledge of suffering, of heartache, of the foibles of humankind. In fact--

Ah. There it is, a glissando of shade like a dark lantern closing, like the edge of an eclipse. He somehow knew it would be there.

How can such light coexist with this shadow?

He must behold its source. He must. Just a glimpse, that's all, surely he can have that. Just to see the face and form that voice comes from, just to fill his eyes and spirit.

And then to creep back to his cold hell of a home, there to feast on the image and the sound, knowing that the corporeal is not for such as him.

...but then, he thinks, as his hands twist his composition paper, crackling dry like mummified bones, why couldn't it be?

Phantom Krueger

It is finally done! Phantom Kruger is done! Without the lighting and shadows, I swear that the sketches gave me so much Phillip/Belos vibes XD

Trigger warning for blood and burns!!

Now, everyone will go "Phantom, if Freddy is the Phantom of the Opera, where is his mask?"

And my response is that you, lovely jellybeans, are seeing it. I am not sure if the sketch allows seeing it, but there are some stitches to his face. So, yes, the Phantom's mask is his face...or well...made out of flesh.

This is actually what I mentioned in the Christine! Nancy post about the sketches and how I got the idea:

So, yeah that is actually something that POTO 1989 does with their Erik. I thought it was gory and well fitting to this crossover so I kept it. My major difference is that Phantom Krueger uses it to hide his burns, but just as the Original version he is bald too, so the hair you see in the sketches is just a pretty tight (maybe glued) wig on his head.

I decided to add the stitches to convey he well...stitched them to his face as it is really hard to draw the amazing makeup effect the OG POTO 1989 has

There is some sense of discomfort, or that something is of when you see Erik's face, which adds to the later scene (which is on YouTube) where well he removes his mask as the backstory of his character play.

The hair color was not chosen by me, it is actually from the 1989 Erik as well as an inspired costume he has, which is basically the Red Death costume from the POTO, which was referenced in the mask Freddy's holding as a cute easter egg.

If you guys are wondering what POTO characters do Glenn, Tina, and Rod would be dressed as ?Here they are

Glenn, of course, would be the "Raoul" (or Richard which the POTO decided to name Raoul like) as he is cannonically Nancy's boyfriend in the first film, so I thought it would be fitting.

Tina would certainly be heavily inspired by Meg from both 1989 ver and some small inspo from the musical (just slightly.) as POTO 1989 Meg is still Christine's best friend, so I would be drawing a lot of inspo from there

Rod is a bit hard due to not much of a male character outside Raoul (or Richard...) in the POTO 1989 so far has been, but I'll probably based him around Piangi as he was an actor in the POTO which also ironically died a similar way to Rod-

I'll probably get Glen and the others costumes designs and maybe in a later post explain Nancy's dress.

And just for another reminder. This crossover will not have the Phantom be in love or attracted to Christine because his motivations are based around Freddy Krueger's + its a big no for me

I think it's a toss-up between: Repertum (M, Snarry) for the life-threatening attack on Harry - it ends on two cliffhangers over the course of the story, actually - and Ouroboros in Tribute (T, Severitus) and the adjacent series for the angst of missed chances, of regret, as is Late Reflections (T, canon-compliant), with the exact opposite perspective, but similar premise.

7. What’s the fic you wrote with the happiest ending?

Um. Again, a toss-up, I guess. Promises, promises… (G, Snarry), Fidelitas (T, Snarry) and A small step for a boy (G, Severitus).

8. Do you get hate on fics?

Not yet, and I'm really glad about that!

9. Do you write smut? If so, what kind?

I don't. I might think of changing that - I even opened an ALT account (EleanorPhoenix) for that.

Okay. How shall I answer this... If filk to the tune of a song from another fandom counts, then, yes, quite a few - POTO filk, Dracula filk, Children's songs filk, but the lyrics being from another fandom (HP, original, meta-fandom, the like) If not... I've had the idea of a Snape & 13th Doctor's fic for AGES, but, well.

11. Have you ever had a fic stolen?

not quite? it was re-archived on some random website from ffn without my permission, but it was taken down before I knew about it.

12. Have you ever had a fic translated?

Not yet! But I do have a blanket permission for translations, if anyone wants to. I'd be especially curious if someone wanted to re-translate my English fics to German or Chinese, how I'd sound in my two mother tongues if re-translated.

13. Have you ever co-written a fic before?

14. What’s your all time favourite ship?

There is no all-time favourite, IMO. I am currently obssessed with Snape and Harry positive relationships, however. I suspect that tide might change in a few months, years, whatever.

Oh God. Too many. Shall I list? Mostly, it's an unposted self-insert anthology for Doctor Who the Unspeakable Mysteries Verse (Snarry) and the the Fateweaver Verse (Snarry) that have been lying around for ages, but there are a ton of Severitus ideas I've also been struggling with, like: the Forget Me Not verse and the Christmas in Limbo verse For my full list of WIPs, see this post.

16. What are your writing strengths?

AAAANGST. I really like torturing both my characters and my readers.

17. What are your writing weaknesses?

I have yet to actually write anything resembling action that isn't cringe; I'm deeply reluctant to move out of my comfort zone that consists of angst, angst and more angst, with quite a bit of introspection.

18. Thoughts on writing dialogue in another language in fic?

If apporpriate to the setting, definitely! -> Latin for spells and chants -> various English dialects - if only I could! -> conlangs and original languages for a certain world - a thousand times yes! -> uhhh. I have yet to encounter a situation where I put my characters anywhere they'd need German or Chinese, but if there is a chance, I'll jump!

Doctor Who.

It's spring, so I'm back with a new story - well, new to everyone else, anyway, it's actually 7 years old.

This is a Jonathan Creek / Phantom of the Opera crossover, of sorts, though you don't need to know anything about POTO for it to make sense (hopefully), and if you are familiar with POTO then I hope you enjoy the references.

It's pretty much still a Jonathan Creek story, involving a Locked Room Mystery, Maddy's secret inner phangirl, Adam being his usual ridiculous self, and a few surprises (and special guests) along the way.

Updates will be regular(ish), notwithstanding I need to do some heavy editing beforehand.

As with the Creekmas story, I'll be posting snippets and vaguely relevant pictures with each update; for now, there's just the very silly cover picture I made for it.

“Adam’s doing a European tour,” he explained, “starting in Paris.  If that’s successful, it’ll move on – hopefully Berlin, then Rome, maybe a few of the provinces if things go well.”

“Oh, right.  Sounds great.  I can see why he’d want the publicity – the French love a good scandal.”

“The thing is,” he continued a little obliviously, trying not to lose his nerve, “he wants me to go out there for the first leg, just to oversee things before I hand it over.  We managed to find someone to take the reins; he speaks about six languages, so that will definitely help.  I mean, I know a bit of French, but apart from that…”

She nodded in understanding.  “I suppose that makes sense.  When does it start, then?”

“That’s the other thing,” he admitted.  “We… we fly out next week.”

Maddy paused in whatever she was about to say, her fork hovering over her plate as she stared at him.  “Next week?”

He flinched.  “Yeah.  Sorry, I’ve been trying to find time to tell you.”

What's the fic you've written with the angstiest ending?

Eggs and Toast. It's the only phic of mine so far to take place *after* the canon Events of LND. Echo In This whisper was also pretty angsty

What's the fic you've written with the happiest ending?

I feel like they (almost) all end up pretty happy tbh! Maybe Tread Softly was slightly happier than most

Do you write crossovers?

The closest thing to a crossover I'll probably write is Like a Wheel, Like a Wind, which is a PotO au set in the Stephen King multiverse. Other than that, I mostly do AU mashup versions as opposed to actual crossovers (ie Evita au where Christine *is* Evita, not an au where Evita and Christine both exist)

Have you ever received hate on a fic?

hmmmm :') fun fact: ffn does Not remove comments from fics, regardless of what the comment says :0 I received direct hate and even some personal accusations over my portrayal of an ace Erik, which was super interesting because the person in question then proceeded to continue to read and subscribe to my other stories lmao. I also got some bigoted comments over ace headcanons in more private settings as well, even from "allies". Someone got very flustered over the singular gay Erik I wrote once. Gustave Daae's Daughter got some upset comments because it was... a lil darker than what I normally write. Someone had an absolute fit over Christine's choices in Pilgrim Soul in a way that was slightly funny looking back at it ^^; That said, I've also received so many touching and wonderful comments that remind me why I write <3

Do you write smut? If so, what kind?

this is a constant source of disagreement between me and my beta reader ahaha I would say "no" and she would. point to the many Scenes :''') I do have occasional explicit moments in my stories, but I don't consider it smut necessarily as the Scenes aren't the main focal point, and the explicitness of them is usually to (try to) convey something other than eroticism. If the thing I'm trying to convey (awkwardness, vulnerability, shame, desire, angst, being conflicted, etc) would be showcased well by an explicit moment, I'll include it to an extent. Otherwise, no

Do you respond to comments? Why or why not?

I always do! I love seeing readers interacting with my fics and sharing what they enjoyed about them, and I always want to show my appreciation for those comments. The only reason I wouldn't is if I missed it somehow or if my frequent co-author has beaten me to the punch and replied already.

What's the fic you've written with the angstiest ending?

It's probably Sleep So Long Awaited, which is a play on the end of LND where Erik dies instead of Christine. It's sad, it's got sad Gustave, a moment of peace between Erik and Raoul, and...well, Erik dies. It's not a happy story.

What's the fic you've written with the happiest ending?

I would definitely say Sticky Notes and Serendipity! The epilogue hasn't gone up yet, but it's super fluffy and sweet, and the entire fic just came to such a happy, wonderful ending. You'll see what I mean on Saturday 😉

Do you write crossovers?

I don't, no. I might write fics inspired by another piece of media, but I wouldn't think I would ever write a proper crossover.

Have you ever received hate on a fic?

Not direct hate? I once received some criticism that was DM'd to me that was definitely not asked for and unnecessary, so that sucked. It was really a big blow to me, and I considered taking down that fic after receiving that comment because it made me super insecure about the entire format of the fic. It came from a person who had been very supportive of my stories for a long time, which made it even worse. Thankfully, my best friend convinced me not to take the fic down, and my critic has now been exposed for not being a good person, so it all worked out in the end.

Do you write smut? If so, what kind?

I don't write it and I won't be writing it.

Have you ever had a fic stolen?

Yep, I have had my fics scraped and posted on other websites at least twice, either by bots or by another user.

Have you ever had a fic translated?

I have not! Someone offered to translate Like Father, Like Son, but my coauthor on that story was not keen on the idea. It's something I would have to consider because I think I would worry too much about my style and plans for the story being lost in translation and I wouldn't be able to really tell. I wouldn't totally write it off, though!

Have you ever co-written a fic before?

Ohhhh yes! Like Father, Like Son was my first collaboration, and I write probably about half of my fics these days with my best friend @brendadaaedestler. We have something in the works for NaNoWriMo as we speak!

What's your all-time favourite ship?

Definitely Erik/Christine, I love writing with them and reading about them so very much.

What's a WIP that you want to finish but don't think you ever will?

It's not one that I don't think I will ever finish, but I think it will be a while before No Need For Goodbyes ever gets finished. I would love to go back to it, but I've been away from that cast of characters for so long that it can be hard to slip back in. My coauthor also no longer has the time to work on it with me, and it is a very time-consuming project, so I'm not sure when I will get back to it.

What are your writing strengths?

I think that dialogue is definitely my strength. It comes very easily to me and it's something that I always enjoy getting to write.

What are your writing weaknesses?

Getting lost in the dialogue! Sometimes I get so caught up in what the characters are saying and the emotions that they're expressing that the writing can get dialogue-heavy. I always have to make a conscious effort to include scene descriptions, settings, and descriptions of the character's bodies and expressions.

What's a fandom/ship you haven't written for yet but want to?

This is an interesting question that I honestly don't think about a ton lol? I've always been pretty content writing Phantom fic and don't really have the inspiration to jump into other fandoms. Shipwise, I've only written sporadic Meg/Erik fic and only a long time ago, so that one could be fun to explore. There is angst there.

What's your favourite fic that you've written?

It was Like Father, Like Son for the longest time because it was my first Phantom of the Opera fic, my first long fic, I loved the characters, etc. I'm still super proud of that story, but I think Sticky Notes and Serendipity takes the cake. It's my first true multi-chapter fic since LFLS, and I can just see how much my style has changed, how much my writing has improved, and it makes me feel really good about myself. I am in love with the versions of the characters that we wrote, and getting to work so much with Erik's anxiety and making it feel so authentic was a crowning achievement for me. Also, seeing all of the love for the story that Chloe and I have written together makes me feel so amazing. Sticky Notes is my favourite for so many reasons.

Are you going to ever continue your old POTO Fics?

Thank you so much for caring, this type of message makes my whole week,

The answer is, definitely not now, but maybe? I talked before about having the 6h chapter of watlc almost done somewhere in the depths of Google Docs, and about the possibility about just go and finish it

And it would not be very difficult, bc I don't plan to continue from that, if I ever go back to that story is to re-write everything from the start of the series, and just for reference the original home series is 54k, so it's gonna take a loooong time to go back to where we were

But, I have a new story now! It's a spy x family au, it's call -not very originally- Spy x Phantom, it's a spies and assassins au set in the 70s in a post-war setting, and it's not a crossover or so, so you don't need to be familiar with the source material to be able to read the story,

It has been really fun to write, one of the things I loved more about and that I skipped over in older fanfics was following Erika and Christine as they fall in love, I'm trying to make it a slow burn, but this two may be a little bit intense for that, we will see

Also I'm really enjoying the world building, as it's the 70s yes, but this is a world where lgbtplus people have more rights, there is still stigma and homophobia, but it's a less harsh world to live in than the actual 70s, it's also set on Europe, what country of Europe, you ask? idk just Europe, I'm enjoying those ambiguous vibes, so I'm not naming where we are, but we are not really in French anymore

Ukrainian H/B - again showing promise, as with the RD it's all kind of junior level currently but I can see them improving with time and becoming a strong team.

S/W - legit WUZROBBED here and I say that as someone who hates POTO programs, it's like the judges refused to give them more than +1. Their lifts were very good but barely got any love, same with their choreographic elements. Levels need improvement as before. But in general, it just felt like automatic scoring. I would have had them at 105-106 here.

F/A - Got their character steps invalidated which is a real shame, the program is kind of generic but they do a good job with it and they have a really lovely knee bend that I appreciate. Similar to S/W I think they were lowballed and would have had them at 105-106 as well.

Browns - great speed but sloppy af. The turns are not clean, they run on the ice quite a lot, and don't get me started on their packaging. They are better than the material they've been getting and I really want to see them slow down and clean their turns.

K/R - effective and dramatic and overall well-skated, but I kept saying to @macaroni-rascal that it all feels like a perfume commerial to me. Here hoping for a better program for them in the future, but they sure are utilizing it as well as they can so kudos on that.

Taschlers - honestly hard to believe it's the same team as in the RD. it's just not a good program, it's pretentious, it's empty with little transitions, it's full of crossovers, and it makes their skating look heavy. A crying shame considering how good they look in the RD.

CPom - Simply wonderful. There's a lot of room for improvement but it's already very good and effective. It's sophisticated, it's full of content (unlike many empty FDs), and it's promising. I can say it enough but their material is >>>>> over G/P(2) material.

L/L - loved it but they need to get those levels. They got a little less love here on GOE but they looked tighter than at SCI. So proud of them for being 1st alternates at GPF, that's an amazing achievement.

F/G - tighter here than usual, I guess skating in front of the home crowd messed with them a little. It was encouraging to see the judges being at least semi-conservative with their scoring here given the tightness and the choreo twizzle error. I respect their response, they remain very respectful even when things don't go their way, and that's something you can't say about a lot of skaters.

G/F - Surprisingly this FD is growing on me, it's still a bit cringe and "CW teen drama" as @macaroni-rascal rightfully says, but at least they are committing to it? I felt like it was performed a lot better this week, and of course, as always, it was technically superior to every other team currently competing.

GPF with the G/F vs. G/P vs. C/B will be FASCINATING.

2022 Year in Review

I feel like 2022 ended up being a really busy year for me! This was the first year of this blog being a general fandom blog rather than just a meme blog.

January: Started the month off by announcing that I was moving away from just being a texts from last night blog and I commissioned this piece from @chocobascas after a conversation with my beta. I finished my first multlichapter fanfic, All the Things Yet to Come.

February: Started publishing my Encanto/Poto AU which. Um. Oops. I might eventually rewrite what I have written of it because I was never happy with the pacing. Held the first annual Queer Week, which started on February 25. Published the oneshots Old Friends, When Will the Blood Begin to Race, Loneliness, and Fear Can Turn to Love as part of the event.

March: Queer Week continued, and I published the oneshots Quiet Hours, A New Life, and Healing. I wrote a smut reclist. I also wrote a smut oneshot titled Sweet Music's Throne.

April: Wrote and published the oneshot Unspoken Secrets, which to this day is my most popular fic. Reached 420 followers on 4/20 😎.

May: Participated in the second annual Paris Commune Week, hosted by @paperandsong. Reposted Old Friends from Queer Week for the event and wrote a POTO/Les Mis crossover oneshot for the event, Hope.

June: A pretty quiet month, announced the first annual Fluff Week.

July: Held the first annual Fluff Week. For the event, published my oneshots The Truth You Can't Hide, In Your Skin and Bone and Blood, I Found It, All on My Own, Grace in Your Heart and Flowers in Your Hair, Dark Stories of the North, and Hellfire.

August: Published the one shot Before We Get Too Old, which was a one shot I had started for fluff week and then it veered too much into angst.

September: Wrote the oneshot Preparation for Mortality for Crack Week. Behind the scenes, I started writing my next longfic at the beginning of this month.

October: Began publishing Offer Up Your Daughters, a Carmilla Webseries-inspired AU with a female Erik. Also published several POTO oneshots for various month-long events. The ones I published were The Ones She Had Lost and the Ones She Had Found, A Gift, The Saints Can't Help Me Now, All This Devotion (which actually got archived by the Whumptober account), No Way Out, and Begin Again. I didn't publicize it on this blog, but I also published my first oneshots outside the POTO fandom this month. For Stranger Things, I published Don't Let Me Be Lonely Tonight. For The Witcher, I published Undo This Storm. For the MCU, I published Night Terror. And for Star Wars, I published Hiding, Breaking Out, Stargazing, and The Third Option.

November: Very quiet, just continued posting chapters of Offer Up Your Daughters.

December: Accidentally went viral, -100/10 would not recommend. Published Merry Crimes for Christmas, which is a Christmas-themed oneshot from the Offer Up Your Daughters universe. Finished Offer Up your Daughters! Started work on separating old oneshots out instead of keeping them all in multichapter oneshot collections. Announced the second annual Queer Week to be held again from February 25-March 3.

What to expect in 2023: The sequel to Offer Up Your Daughters will start being posted January 16. The third and final installment will also be published this year. I will also hold Fluff Week again. Other than that, we'll see!

The Paris Commune existed between March 18 and May 28, 1871. The Commune is mentioned by Leroux several times in his novel, principally in three ways:

The skeleton found beneath the Garnier is supposedly presumed to be a victim of the Commune, but the narrator believes it is in fact Erik’s body.

The passage behind Christine’s mirror is meant to have been built by the Communards who occupied the unfinished Garnier during the Commune. Erik calls this mon chemin des communards (the Communard road).

Erik places Raoul in a room he calls the cachot des communards (the Communard dungeon).

As the Paris Commune is of POTO-adjacent significance and as this year marks the 150 anniversary of these events, I propose a POTO-Commune week from May 21 to 28, the anniversary of the last week of the Commune.

Do some research - it was a weird time in history and Erik would have been in the middle of it.

The Commune has some aspects that work against it as a prompt for POTO fics and art:

In 1871, Christine and Raoul would have either been very young children or not yet born. That makes E/C Commune content not canon-compliant.

The Commune was short, but very complicated to understand. The Commune was morally ambiguous with no clear heroes or villains.

The Commune isn’t even mentioned in the ALW musical (though you can imagine that musical Erik’s love of pyrotechnics could have some root in the days of the Commune).

In spite of these issues, here are some prompts for POTO-Commune content:

Arson: In the final week, the Communards burned down a lot of buildings, including the Tuilieries Palace, City Hall, and very nearly the Louvre. What was Erik doing during all of this?  

Gunpowder: Where did all that gunpowder under Erik’s house really come from?

Politics: What did Erik think about the Commune? Was he an anarchist, a communist, an aspiring member of the bourgeoisie, a nihilist? Was he sympathetic to the Commune or annoyed by it?

Skeletons: Whose skeleton was that under the Opera house anyway? A victim of the Commune or a Communard victim? It can’t always be Erik - how else would we get our fix-it fics?

Communard Dungeon: A Vicomte in the Communard Dungeon is either the stuff of upper class nightmares or pure comedy gold. Why not both?

Communist Road: It was so nice of the Communards to build Erik a road leading directly into the future dressing room of a certain Swedish soprano.

Class Warfare: What horrors did the de Chagny family suffer during the Commune just because they were poor little titled aristocrats? Did Erik have anything to do with it?

Persian Expats caught in the line of fire: What were the Daroga and Darius doing during the Commune? If they were already living at the apartment on the Rue de Rivoli they probably had a really bad time.

Paris Commune 1968 AU: Christine and Raoul participate in the 1968 student protests.

Les Mis 1871 Crossover AU: What if instead of meeting during the 1832 uprising, your favorite Amis de l'ABC fight together during the 1871 Commune? They still get to build some barricades and emote heavily. And maybe they are joined/harassed by Erik?

You are gone and I remain (The Irregulars, Holmes/Watson) that is pure angst and nothing more.

I have written one but it is in Thai. It's Kingsman and Gambit crossover with the two characters that both played by Colin Firth xD it's just a fun little encounter between the characters.

Yes, just started writing smut last year and want to improve it. I write vanilla and some little kinky kinds.

I have only once with two of my friends over 15 years ago. It's a self-insert fic for one Thai novel. It never gets published and I remember nothing more about it except it was a good time.

Erik/The Persian or pharoga. Although I ship so many ships and I've started shipping pharoga for just a year, I'm pretty sure pharoga is and will be my all-time favourite ship.

14) What’s a WIP that you want to finish but don’t think you ever will?

There are many short pieces for several fandoms that I have written out of some sudden inspirations that will never get to see the light of day. But there is this wip Spideypool fic based on the song "All of Me" that I really wish I had the ability to finish.

There're also Pharoga ideas that are not even wip yet. So I post them here in the hope that somebody else will write them for me hahaha xD

15) What are your writing weaknesses?

Apart from my not-so-good English skills that limit my descriptive writing, I can't make a plot for a long multi-chapter story. That's why I write only short one-shots. I want to improve this one day though.

17) What are your thoughts on writing dialogue in another language?

I think it's one way to richen the atmosphere of the setting. And as a reader, I think you should provide the translation in the story as well because I want to understand what they say, too.
