idk if those people new to kpop but rps has been a thing since forever 😭 like yunho and jaejoong from tvxq admitted they have read yunjae fanfics before. heechul from suju also read fanfics about him and his bandmates (cmiiw). back then was wilder tbh sm literally made a show for those men to act gay for each other. ships are actually pretty common in kpop fandoms. like just bcs camren stop interacting with each other doesn’t mean jmj will do it too. jmj are kpop idols, they have been together since they were teenagers, they know a lot about fan culture since they were once fangirls too while camren aren’t. not to mention taeny was big asf back then and you think jm wasn’t aware of the biggest duo of the group she stans, please be fr.

mys and 4th gen fandoms in general are so strict with the way how people having fun in kpop. it’s no longer fun in here. i have seen yaoi enjoyers always get a pass but somehow yuri enjoyers (especially jmj) get jumped for merely breathing. policing people how to have fun is one of the reasons why people leave the fandom. but i know they won’t care since all they think about is bragging the girls’ achievements and making shady tweets about other groups.

I'm mostly posting this bc up til now I rly wanted to set aside the behavior of the fandom to continue enjoying carlando content but I just can't be bothered anymore. between the larrying and the rampant, disgusting casual misogyny - and ofc the competing with which friendship or fake ship blorbo 1 and 2 are "happier" with asgfjsalfglja. and it's not just this latest thing I get sent tweets and posts abt whole agendas to "prove" that Lando isn't "happy" with Oscar/Martin/insert man who is currently considered threatening to their concepts of Lando's relationships. some ppl even friendzone Max F and Lando and pretend Carlos means more to Lando than him so there's no limits to the insanity.

so for me atp there just isn't enough about carlando to make it worth constantly being reminded that the way too many of it's fans truly believe that these are two men are either as close to each other as they are to their real, acknowledged close friends and/or in a secret gay relationship, that their girlfriend(s) are cold-hearted PR plants/escorts rigged by an evil all-controlling PR department and once the blorbos are freed of homophobic forces (oh god Carlos' old tweets tiktokboom) they can finally have the kind of toxic heteronormative version of a queer relationship that is right with the universe.

like, rpf is only meant to be for fun and more important it is meant to be kept away from anyone involved/the general public !! but when ppl's delu results in the actual women these men choose as their partners being at best aggressively cropped out of pictures and videos* and at worst stalked, harassed, their families and employers harassed, abuse and slander left in comments sections on popular social media and team pages - yea carlando laughing together sometimes and slowed down bro hugging isn't enough lol

it’s also slightly the fact that if you picked a bunch of Lando’s reactions to Carlos and Daniel and no one knew context clues then no one would be able to tell which one he’s reacting to. Carlos/Daniel teases Lando, Lando shriek laughs and goes red, James Corden style gay innuendo, slightly tense undercurrent of men wanting to one up each other with jokes, iterations of bromance that are half sincere and half for the cameras, hashtag hashtag. Lando goes to Daniel's ranch on a whim, dando is special. Lando goes to Carlos' sister's huge society wedding, carlando is special. Lando's family likes Lando which makes carlando special. Lando and Daniel share mutual friends outside of racing which makes dando special. like, it's the same dynamic just rotated around at different times. I enjoy both ships to a certain degree but I'm kind of mystified at ppl choosing to see them as super deep and meaningful and worth fighting over.

side note g o d do I fully embrace that ppl who do these ship competitions and larrying nonsense have ZERO interest in landoscar bc we love Lily and support Lando in his many probable conquests - and bc the Lando and Oscar dynamic isn't a big bromance for the cameras and has no fake gay for fangirl consumption.

like yes pls absolutely consider landoscar inferior to carlando if it means they stay away from inventing conspiracy theories and saying they "just have a bad feeling" about Lily and start attributing everything Lando has achieved to his teammate instead of himself.

also I could be SO incredibly mean using charlos vs carlando and the difference between PR and the public trying to tear one apart but it persisting vs PR and the public being a major factor in the other persisting at all. or the fact that charlos does everything ppl want carlando to do. but there's no point spending more time on people who think that two adult men - who've both said they're as much rivals as friends and the bromance is more what the public sees - are laughing in metrically different and lesser degrees of happiness with their new teammates vs a former teammate.

Hello! Hi—yes, I so rarely use tumblr but figured that I should have one, just for the shits and gigs most of all, lmao. I feel like a grandma: I don’t know how to use it at all. But it’s fun! It’s kind of like chatting to ppl in the comments section, but in a less formal (???) situation.

Firstly, thank you so much for such a lovely message. You are so kind, omg. It’s difficult, sometimes, to actually take in praise about your own work—I look up to other authors so so much, and feel like a fangirl so much, that it’s so foreign for me to accept that kind of admiration from someone else. It’s especially cool of you to mention the feeling-feelings thing, though, [I was told I was good at writing feelings; my writing was emotive] since that’s something I properly feel I’m not great at sometimes!! The amount of times I have to remind myself to ‘show not tell’, or feel like I’m doing too much ‘telling’… genuinely, when I edit my chapters, half of it is just reworking or straight deleting paragraphs and paragraphs of Hebi-being-emo-soliloquies. If you think there are a lot of them now, in the stuff I’ve actually posted, just trust me: you should see my first drafts.

I am fist-pumping reading that I got you to finish ‘One Day’ [self-explanatory]. Writing intrinsic warmth has just been one long con, just to convince people to read more David Nicholls. When I finally finish IW (gah!!!), I plan on leaving a list of book recommendations, those I’ve read that give me the same emotions that ‘One Day’ did; the emotions I’ve tried to capture in IW. It’s my favourite niche genre of fiction, lmao: Books About Intimate Love (Usually Between Just Two People) That Feel Bittersweet And Also Happen To Be About Time And So Also Feel Nostalgic.

I’ve been thinking about your advice question for a while now. [Asked for writing advice; how to write emotively/depict emotions accurately] Truthfully, I have no bloody clue—in my head, I’m just like, eh, that kinda feels good. What suits the vibe? That suits the vibe. No, no, that *doesn’t* suit the vibe. And etcetera.

There’s a few bog-standard, general tips that I always subscribe to, that I’ve picked up along my way and would be happy to explain in greater detail if that’s wanted; always use ‘says/said’ unless you really have to use something else; never use adjectives instead of someone’s name (e.g. “the brunette looked away” vs. “Susan looked away”); avoid clichés like the plague (explained well in the YouTube video, ‘How to Bore Your Audience’ by The Closer Look); use the Emotion Thesaurus for everything. All the time. It is the writer’s Bible.

Honestly, other than those tips (which are more pragmatic than anything), the only thing I can say is to *practise*. Yes, yes, it’s the wankiest thing in the world to say, and yes, it’s been said twenty million times before, but there’s a reason for that! Just write. And then write some more. Which is why yes, you have to start writing!! [was told @/lemonsbesour was thinking of writing because of IW] Please do. Oh my goodness. I didn’t write for years and years and years until Covid time, really, when (no lie) I watched atla for the first time and subsequently wrote about 40k words of a Zuko x reader. Yes, I look back and wince at its quality, but that’s the point!! Writing is the same as any skill, and you only get better at it when you do it again and again and again. But please write. That would be so cool.

This commentary ended up wayyyy longer than I thought, I got carried away with myself so I'm so sorry about that 😂

Never did I think I'd find a Remus series that made me fall in love so fast like this one did. The unadulterated love and adoration that Y/N and Remus is so tooth-rotting sweet and I love that even THEY know is can be sickening sometimes but that's just how love is when you're with the right person.

Y/N as her own character is such a sassy yet sweet witch who can be so powerful and strong when it becomes necessary to show that side of her. Remus is as always the most precious Moony w all his insecurities and all except, this time he has someone who mellows down those insecurities by reminding him of how beautiful and how in love w him she is.

They compliment each other so well and I love being able to read about their reconnection and eventually love story through flashbacks that contrast with moments that occur during the present moment of the series so beautifully.

I wasn't sure about how the smut in this fic would be but wowww. I'd never seen Remmy as too much of a Dom but pre-full moon Moony really does bring out that 'alpha' in him and it's so deliciously sinful. I ENVY Y/N, getting to experience both the rougher side of Remus in bed and also the soft, gentle side of him truly is the dream 😭

I adore how they tried to make it seem like they weren't a married couple who have been so disgustingly in love w each other since the moment they met. Ultimately failing bc they couldn't help their subtle lovesick gazes and looks towards one another whenever they were in the same room. The students making a bet that they're together or that they'd get together eventually was so funny to read and all their little fangirl moments were incredibly relatable.

I loved getting to read their interactions with Harry and I can tell they meant a lot to him, getting to hear new stories about his parents from ppl who really knew them. It was also incredibly bittersweet as a reader bc it gives you an idea on how Harry's childhood and life would have been like had his parents lived. James and Lily truly would've been the most wonderful parents and you can tell Harry was their world 😭

There is probably so much more about this series that I could rave about bc this truly is one of the most beautiful and well-written HP fanfic series I've ever had the honour of reading. I love these two so much and I unashamedly admit that they have a piece of my heart and I'll definitely be rereading this again in the future bc I simply ADORE IT.

Thank you so much OP for creating such a beautiful and magical (not pun intended) series that truly brings so much joy, happiness and comfort to the reader. As a #1 Moony lover, I adore fics where we truly get to read him experiencing the love he deserved bc I stand by the statement that, MOONY DESERVED BETTER!!!

I FINALLY finished the first chapter of DKP! I started it a while ago, but I was taking my time, you know, savoring every word and making the pleasure last. And honestly, I don’t regret it at all because WOW… What you’ve written is pure gold. No, wait, not just gold—it’s a whole treasure mine. How do you even write this well? Seriously, you pulled me so deep into the story that I almost forgot I wasn’t actually in it. Almost. Then I remembered I’m not Y/n, and let me tell you… my life hasn’t been the same since 😭.

Now let’s talk about something very important: Sunghoon. No, but SUNGHOON. What did you do there? Were you trying to give me a heart attack? I’m gonna be honest—every single second of that scene in the bathroom had me wanting to scream, “IT’S MY TURN, LET ME INTO THIS STORY!” But no, life is unfair, and here I am, stuck fangirling behind my screen like a sad little gremlin 😭.

And those extra moments you added… just wow. Bravo. They bring so much depth to the story, so much emotion. blue exorcist fangirling again and incoherent ramblings

working is like making a contract with a demon, e.g. i get to see my family 2x a year, but i have to work without breaks. maybe i should expand that to being alive. being alive is like having made a contract with a demon.

i forgot shura's arc was also a very, very effective vehicle for pushing the plot AND character development further. like it was a one-off story, but it did SO MUCH for everyone involved in that arc. also, as referenced above, shura's entire life was the result of a demon contract. the hydra demon's design was also extremely cool.

another thing i love about blue exorcist is its focus on legacy. where you come from, who raises you, how they raise you, how that sets the direction for your perspective and your choices. the characterization is so rich because of this focus.

one of my favorite chapters is when shiemi is drawn as a little bud in the ground. she's isolated, growing slowly and comfortable in her little garden patch. each interaction affects her until she's desperate to prove her growth and be on par with others. i relate so much to her...

i'm sure ppl have written beautifully eloquent and insightful essays about rin and yukio. their respective developments are incredible. i can't say much, there's just too much to say and i'm not that good of a writer. i'm just speechless every time i revisit the manga.

"why was i saved?" "what's my purpose?" my poor tragic shounen babes have existential crises and spiral into suicide ideation constantly. it's ultimately a hopeful manga, but it makes you work for it more than usual. it's funny, fluffy, sometimes corny and idiotic, but it's also dark, heavy, and methodical. it takes its goddamn time. it's deliberate. it's thought out. it's crazy, but it commits. it's convoluted, but even within that craziness, it's efficient and it's fucking determined. i'm so happy this story is getting told. this story is 12+ years in the making and it only gets better. i've never stuck with a shounen for so long before and i've never seen one GET BETTER with age. for me, they usually start out great and fizzle out because the writing and the focus deteriorate quickly. like, they have a good hook, but for whatever reason, it quickly starts getting more and more repetitive and superficial.

i haven't caught up to recent chapters because i need to re-read it (sigh because i've forgotten a lot of things), but i'm excited.

So I wanted to participate in @bonniecupcake 's art competition from the moment I saw it at the very least just for fun-

-And then I absolutely. Completely procrastinated until the last moment because finals ate my ass. And now I'm super late. Verrry late. But that's. Besides the point.

I also would like to explain why there are. Eight characters (and three robot characters) instead of four- And the explanation is practically. It's difficult for me to draw children. At least mentally it takes a lot of uh. Trusting the process. And so I wanted to do something that would make the whole thing easier and more fun for me. And somehow now I have eight fucking characters here which, admittedly, was hell, but it was fun hell, which is essentially just art so I believe! Brain trickery? Nailed it.

Also I just decided that adding older ZaDr and TaGr would be interesting and practically you just shouldn't. You just shouldn't give me freedom like that really. Because I'm gonna use it and create a little scenario in my head where all of them sat down to watch a shitty melodrama and no one is paying attention, because while the Taks and Gazs are just vibing, Dibs and Zims are arguing very loudly whether or not true love exists. Older Dib, by the way, is the only one saying that it does. His younger self is quite disappointed at him getting soft, and older Zim? Flustered. Super flustered. Or a different way to describe this situation: older Zim and Dib have been in a romantic relationship for a while now and NO ONE out of the four can resist being a little immature bitch about it!

Usui Masumi

Let’s talk about my boy Masumi.

So, unlike the previous four that I’ve done, I won’t be gushing about their troupes, so hopefully these posts will be a lot shorter!

First Impressions: INSTANT FAVE!!!

This is embarrassing, but in all my days of consuming anime/JRPG, I have developed a type. Pre-Shippuden Sasuke from Naruto, Keith from Voltron Legendary Defender, etc. Basically, the kuudere bishounen wrapped in a package of dark hair and angsty backstory. And Masumi looked exactly like this trope, and I was smitten.

Current Thoughts: LOL I was not expecting him to fall so hard and so fast in love with Izumi. It definitely threw me off, but I was already committed to liking this guy, so I just rolled with it. 

I know that some parts of the fandom find him creepy, and for sure, if he was a real life person, I would never condone his behavior. But since it’s fiction, and I’m free to like problematic characters, I find his obsessive behavior amusing.

LIKE, HE DEAD ASS JUST PRACTICES MAKING CURRY IN THE DEAD OF NIGHT WITH THE LIGHTS OFF JUST FOR IZUMI. Like, child, what are you, a vampire? Lololol

And the rest of the company just rolls with his behavior, by saying “Masumi is being Masumi” and I find that so funny.

But putting his obsessive tendencies aside, he slowly starts to expand his world, and I think that’s so precious. In Act 1, he realizes that he knew nothing about Sakuya, and after eavesdropping, he resolves to teach him the sword action sequences. And from there, he slowly allows people in. Very gradually.

It isn’t until in Act 5, when he considers Mankai as his family, and his caring side just. Explodes. It’s so adorable. He’s still awkward dealing with people, so he comes off a bit curt, but he really does care.

I mentioned this in the previous post, but I really like his relationship with Tsumugi.

But I think my favorite one he has is with Tsuzuru. It’s interesting to see their relational progression as roommates. At first, they fought so bad that Tsuzuru was straight up just crashing at Sakuya/Citron’s. Then Tsuzuru took the first step in being more understanding of Masumi. And then. Oh my gawd. Once Masumi gets the notion of family, his awkward care for Tsuzuru is HILARIOUS!!! It starts with small things, like feeding Tsuzuru energy jellies, and then it escalates to Masumi staying up all night long with him, and when Tsuzuru finally finishes the script, they both just. Die. I died with them from laughter.

I also think that his relationship with Tangerine (Citron’s younger brother) is cute as hell.

On a side note, Masumi’s VA, Shirai Yuusuke, is HILARIOUS!!! He also has a youtube channel if anybody was curious.

Sick Sick Sick: THE YANDERE SONG!!!

It’s really funny, because I didn’t really consider Masumi a yandere until I heard his character song. But it fits, I guess, lol.

The lyrics are hella interesting. You can see his struggle of loving you, being absolutely consumed by his love for you, wanting to be free from this love, but at the same time, not. 

The songs a banger though. It’s a lot of fun! And the music style seems exactly the kind of music that Masumi would listen to.

Wonderland Go Go: The first song other than Mankai Kaikan Sengen (the A3! game theme song) that I listened to from A3! It was completely by accident, but a happy one. 

Melody wise, it was so much fun that I fell in love with this song. Like, the whimsical melody just seemed so fitting for an Alice in Wonderland song that I was so impressed.

I also really really like Shirai’s singing voice. I don’t know why, I just do, lololol.

1/ To the anon say DY doesnt stand out in group.I'd say DY is made to survive in a group. Let's be real, idol isnt purely artist, their popularity doesnt reflect their singing, dancing or rapping skills. You cant compare DY to each member and say he isnt good enough, the group and industry dont need that, they need an unique DY filling in the gap. If you hear enough you may see the difference between a harmonization w and w/o DY.

2/ Abt vocal, your opinion is subjective (as it should be). If it were me, I would say, HC sounds too thin to me sometimes when he tries to maintain his 'unique' tone and not mature enough to carry 'divorce anthem'. All vocals doesnt need to sound powerful or technically excellent, that's the point of being in a idol group. Taeil can dominate the highnote but when it comes to No longer, Bach 2 U, I believe many relate to the painful face of DY.

You may feel some members be the highlight of a song, but only on a background of other suitable vocals. Doyoung's voice is loved anyway, they may say singing for Taeil but when it's voice, it's DY. 3/ And to be fair, it's not like anyone in NCT being outstanding in modeling, they all needs to improve and find their suitable brand. Doyoung body and attitude have potential in this field tho. To be frank, these days the modelling gigs is more abt fame than skills.

Haft of the idol ambassadors are mismatched with the brand or lacking.4/ In variety, DY variety chara is interesting. He may not be on the front every time, and he doesnt demand continuously attention like JW. That may make ppl think he is not important but gradually you can see how well he controls the situation.

5/ I read an analysis of Korean fan abt DY, they conclude that DY image doesnt put pressure on audience to laugh like JN or JW, as he chooses to follow his weak and defeated image, allowing fans to 'sympathize'. If you know about J-idol, you will know the importance of image. Most variety depends on banter with a duo of tsukkomi and boke, and DY is the one who make the banter possible. That's the reason why he shows up a lot in contents and teams with pushed members at some points (JH-JN-TY-JW)

DY chara shines as he shows his value via interaction.6/As an idol, there is hardly any idol is better in reading the fan as DY. His idol image may not the Western type but resonants well with Eastern fans - who are far more loyal. He can be the ideal bf for some fangirls and the example for mature fans. Successful idols may have that star quality and visual to fish new fans but it requires a story to keep their heart. DY has his story written beautifully with his efforts.

If they weren't Vampires and their personalities/actions were a little more decent, I could see myself getting along with Shuu, Reiji, Ruki, Yuma and surprise ー even Carla. xD He's my least favorite character but I appreciate any guy who has COMMON SENSE. Yuma might seem like the odd one out on the list but he's actually very realistic and often the person calling out the other guys on their shitty behavior in the tokuten CDs.

Reiji & Ruki are also very organized and composed which is pefect for me because I'm someone who doesn't handle overly chaotic/all-over-the-place people too well. :'') I prefer to have a peaceful and quiet conversation instead.

3. “what's your favorite candle scent?” oh, for some reason i love the citrus-y ones. anything really sweet kinda disgusts me. i believe my favorite is midnight blue citrus from bath & body works.

6. “say three nice things about yourself (three physical and three non-physical).” as for physical: (1) my eyes bc they're grayish green with yellow at the center (you can see this when the light hits them); (2) my hair bc i finally learned how to take care of my curls and i love them sm; and finally (3) i guess my hands. ppl always said they're piano hands even though I haven't played in years, bc they're thin and long.

as for non-physical qualities: (1) my musical essence. i am rlly good at memorizing melodies and harmonies, and i got good ear, but it's because I literally can't live without music. i process everything through music, i connect everything with music, i show my love to people and characters through music, and i can't do any menial task (or math, ew) without singing or humming to myself. if im forced to be quiet? my brain will play a specific song over and over and over again. (2) my writing skills! they've been marinated in lots of great fanfiction and novel reading, so ive taken pieces of beautiful literature like strawberries in a field. and i know i can be so much better, but im pretty proud of my writing all the same :D. (3) my sensitivity, which is connected to the other two. it's a double-edged sword, bc being an hsp makes me feel negative emotions too quickly and deeply, and i even feel physical pain easier. my sensitivity to sounds is so much but hey, it also formed my musicality as a big part of me. being sensitive made me so curious about trauma and suffering, and i empathize with it, and it's led me to pursuing my major in psychology! so i think it provides me more good than harm :)
