Completely valid. Their caring sides are pretty adorable, both of them. Mutsuki, despite being as timid as he is, would be the one encouraging her spunkiness even a little too much and completely at her mercy when she wants to play or cuddle with dads. Suzuya would be thrilled to have a dress-up friend to make cute sparkly crafts or whole ass furniture fixings for, after they're done getting into mischief as a team, of course. That being said, this is the baby girl I cannot stop imagining, and won't ever stop imagining.

Ooh Mutsurie… I like them a lot as they are but, if I were to modify their narrative to make it more compelling to to my tastes...

despite how I actually enjoy the “Mutuki goes apeshit” arc because I think trans people deserve to do a little atrocity, (the intrinsic transphobia annoys me of course but it is present in almost every single facet of Mutsuki's character so whatever. Thank you Sui Ishida,) it is actually the thing that unfortunately lessens the interest for me. I still like them don't get me wrong but I think Urie could afford to be weirder about Mutsuki. Urie cares about how he's doing so much that it inhibits his ability to talk but can't ask outright? Alright show it further. When Mutsuki declares that he's in love with Haise and plans to find him, Urie doesn't do anything other than verbally protest, which Mutsuki is far too gone to listen to. And even if you argue that Urie's too traumatized to recognize the glaring signs of an unhealthy attachment (which is fair and almost certainly part of it) Mutsuki's still directly committing a mild crime against the ccg and could very well get in trouble for it thereby harming his well being. To have Urie promise he'll still be there, or show that he's been following Mutsuki's missions could help a lot in making the scene where the Quinx hug him and tell Mutsuki that they still love him a bit more impactful instead of feeling a bit like they just remembered that I suppose? You can only fit so many simultaneous narrative strings into a manga I guess and neither of them are good at feelings, but I just want them to indicate the tasty potential of caring about someone past their lowest points more. Mutsuki still dislikes himself and keeps himself at a distance from his friends at the end of the manga. Having Urie so determined to see this green thing happy that Mutsuki slowly learns to forgive himself for what he's done and grow more comfortable in his masculinity would be cool, and in turn Urie can heal from the Black Reaper's attack on his character and psychological effects of The Everything by being tender with someone for the first time in years.

hmmm lets do some things i hc for both of them 🤔

i think mutsuki and choso would both be really good plant dads. they would name them and even talk to them as they water them. very diligent about taking care of them (i cant keep plants alive, so idk what that entails, but whatever it is, they do it)

both mutsuki and choso are kinda...touch starved tbh. choso spent 150 years sealed away from the world and mutsuki has spent his entire life fearing affection, so safe to say they both just need a hug. neither of them would admit it out loud, or even go for it themselves, but they both want nothing more than to be embraced by their loved ones.

mutsuki and choso fear loss above all else. between mutsuki losing shirazu and haise within a week of each other, and choso losing two of his younger brothers on the same day (and almost killing another one himself), they never want to feel the pain of loss again. the difference comes in how they handle that fear. mutsuki pulls himself in opposite directions, both withdrawing and clinging tightly at the same time, eventually imploding on himself. choso gets clingy, overbearingly so. he wants to be by the side of the person he fears losing as much as possible (further breakdown with jjk manga spoilers under cut).

so if choso wants to cling to the person he's afraid of, why did he offer to stay guarding tengen instead of entering the culling games with yuuji, who would be the person he fears losing the most? my thought is that choso knew if he did that, yuuji would probably still stick with megumi in the culling games, and that he would be the one to enter a colony alone, as yuuta did, and saw a better chance of being able to support and defend yuuji by staying to defend tengen. idk personal thought 🧍

Here are my Mutsurie Summer headcanons (AU - no ghouls)

I know he would literally never but the idea of Urie in jorts is something I NEED to see simply because I think it's funny. Like he didn't do his laundry or smthn so all he had left were jorts

Mutsuki initially applies sunscreen in the little white strip across your nose way until Urie finally rubs so much sunscreen into Mutsuki's face and arms until Mutsuki is part sunscreen, part human, and part ghoul

Urie buying matching hats for them 👹⁉️

Mutsuki owns SO many binders and colour coordinates the binders to what they'll be doing (blue binder for fishing (not that he'd ever go fishing but as an example), yellow for hiking, etc.)

Mutsuki took a lot longer than most people to decide on his major than others. It stressed him out a lot bc he hates deadlines and freaks out a decent but over them. His first thought was nursing because he genuinely wants to help people and knows quite a lot about biology from books (he's totally one of those people who just knows a ton of useless facts and will share them whenever like me) but then remembered how much blood is typically involved and noped out. He ended up settling on psychology, primarily working with children, because he's great with kids and wants people to live to be better than him (crying just live yourself you dumbass T_T) He also did a minor in anthropology out of pure curiosity and actually loved it.

He had a hard time finding roommates but eventually settled for a certain blue haired anime nerd. You could probably guess the chores aren't spread that evenly but he doesn't mind bc there isn't too much to clean outside her room and she's not judgy so win ig? He does often nag her to go to her lectures more often tho which usually ends with a snack wrapper in the face.

Mutsuki never really planned on joining any extracurriculars or societies but I feel he'd join a book club briefly before realising everyone there has the most awful takes known to man and makes up an excuse to leave first chance he gets (me too it's ok king). He ends up hanging out with a gaming group by Saiko's request and ends up liking them a lot. He shares a lot of their reading tastes and ends up making his own book club with them. He meets some of the best people he's ever met there and yknow what good for him ^_^

i would absolutely want to meet the entire quinx squad!! i think i would mesh with them really well. i feel like they're all sort of outcasts in their own ways, and i really relate to that. i think they found home within each other and i really would like to be involved in that with them :'3 i wanna be apart of their little family!!

urie and i could bond over our shared interests in art, i think. i also imagine he would listen to the same sort of music that i do... tbh i listen to pretty much everything but my most favorite genres of music are emo and nu metal!! i don't think he'd be into the nu metal really but i think he would love emo music!!

mutsuki and i could have a mutual understanding of each other, i think. he reminds me a lot of one of my closest friends and i imagine our relationship would be similar to the one i have with him. i like the idea of us just sharing our struggles and worries with each other and being able to bond and comfort each other.

saiko is... pretty much just me. her and i would hit it off instantly. i think we could bond over our interests in anime and games. i also think that she is very naturally affectionate like me and i would love for us to be mutually affectionate to each other!!

shirazu is an eldest sibling just like me! i think he and i could really bond over this too. i grew up taking care of and protecting my younger sister, sort of like how he did. bragging about how cool our little sisters are would be how our first conversation would go.

hsiao is very kind and lovely. i would of course bond with her over being a lesbian ;3 i would loveee to gush over our crushes together. i also think this would be cute because i'm a lot like saiko, and my crush is a lot like hsiao. i think it's sort of a cute little switcheroo. she could get a saiko-like perspective and i could get a perspective from her similar to that of my crush's.

shinsanpei is even more emo than urie, and his personality matches my own more closely too. i think he and i would hit it off instantly, too. i would absolutely love to share bands and singers with him, and of course receive his recommendations too. i also feel like he would be a really wonderful listener, idk that's just the vibes i get. we also both really like fishing!

higemaru is a bit goofy, i think i'd think he's funny. i think out of all of the quinx, i'd be the least close to him minus urie. i'm certain he could make me laugh a lot, and i would really like to hear about his uncle being a firefighter too. my dad and one of my grandpas both were at one point, too. a similarity there!

Hello! I don't know if you still do headcanon questions, but I'm curious if you have any for mutsuki x kanae. There's pretty much no content for these two but I like the T4T disasters a lot.

THOSE TWO ARE SO UNDERRATED TOGETHER BUT I LOVE THEM YOU SEE THE VISION

Mutsuki and Kanae meet twice, once as combatants and again as people. The first time they “meet” is when Kanae issues a preemptive strike against the quinx. They’re a powerful potential enemy so he’d rather kill them while they’re still green before they can be a threat to the estate. He’d probably get pretty close to killing them too, but leave a lasting impression. He’s much stronger than he looks.

The next time they’d meet (at least in my au) is during a tentative peace. Probably very early into negotiations between humans and ghouls for some less violent route forward that no one there is very happy to be at. The Tsukiyama family, being some of the most powerful ghouls, will naturally be here wither their guards as representatives of the ghouls and Kanae came with them as the single best weapon they had. The day is long, everyone is uncomfortable, and he and Mutsuki end up on a bench together in between talks. They’re both awkward and tired, but complaining together about how insufferable the negotiators are breaks the ice

They’re a solid fifteen minutes into this conversation when they realize that the other isn’t on their side. Mutsuki thought Kanae was human because he’s so proper, Kanae thought Mutsuki was a ghoul because he smelled like one and had a whole lot of shit to talk about his bosses. It’s only here that they go “HEY YOURE THAT GUY WHO IMPALED ME” and yet by now, that’s not a dealbreaker because god damn it between bureaucrats and a guy who tried to kill you a few times, I’d pick the ladder too. The conversation awkwardly turns more towards who they are and why they were fighting in the first place, and Kanae offered him his number for “in case you need help understanding ghoul culture and points for the negotiations”

What actually ends up happening is them just hanging out. Fortunately for them they are equally bad at cultivating a life outside of work, but that ends up being better for them because they’re in it together when they do anything at all. After a few meetings at a stuffy cafe that Kanae picked out, they got on well enough that they tried doing more normal activities. Seeing movies, going to attractions, visiting each others houses, Kanae thought it was Mutsuki showing him regular human activities but honestly Tooru had never done any of that on his own, this is his first time having a non-ccg friend and doing non-ccg activities with him

Mutsuki loves learning about the ghoul social stuff and Kanae likes sharing it. It’s a whole new world to him, the piles, the rituals, the way more lax view of gender that is far more accommodating to him than humanity was, it’s all so nice to be a part of. Kanae is embarrassingly excited to share it, for once he can drop the high society stuff and see a whole new appreciation for things he took for granted, and it’s nice learning about humans too. He doesn’t like them, but he can make an exception for this one because the way he talks about it is captivating

Kanae doesn’t even realize he’s doing boyfriend things to Mutsuki until Shuu calls him out on it. Rubbing up against him to scentmark him, sharing meals without getting territorial, letting him in his room, that is pretty intimate by ghoul standards and by the time Tsukiyama refers to him, unfortunately, as his cousin’s “little plaything” he’s in too deep. He is down horrendous

When they make it official it’s after everyone and their dog already assumed they were together. They were the last to find out. They are so weird about it because neither of them has every dated before and their only references for how partners worked is rich people arranged marriages, whatever the fuck Shuu is doing with his men, movies, and Mutsuki observing Kaneki and Hide like gay little insects. Mutsuki gets a habit of bringing him little trinkets and Kanae sends flowers since Shuu has taught him the meanings of them. He doesn’t think Mutsuki is that into flower language but he likes sending them even if he doesn’t understand

Tooru learns that if you’re dating Kanae, that means you are going to have to let Shuu get involved. Shuu LOVES that his cousin is finally in a relationship and insists on inviting Tooru to things. Unfortunately 90% of those things are fucking with him and trying to see how he reacts to various inconveniences. But once he decides that he likes him he takes Tooru and his cousin along on one of his many attempts to get them clothes he thinks would look better on them. He is shocked and disgusted that BOTH of them wear the Dysphoria Cargo Pants when not in uniform and needs to fix it

A fairly common date for them is just sort of roaming the city and climbing the buildings in their ghoul masks. Kanae used to patrol territory this way and hunt from these vantage points, and it’s become something of a routine for him that he can’t kick even now that he’s not supposed to be hunting anymore. So now it’s a weird Ghoul Mask Romantic Parkour Event they do, and it’s helped Mutsuki with his kagune motor control skills

Once they’ve been together awhile Kanae tends to grab Tooru and groom him like a dominant mouse. i'm in desperate need of funny/cute/wholesome tooru or suzumutsu headcanons please😖🙏 i made a terrible mistake and started rereading :re, i just got to rushima today and i'm NOT handling it well at all💀 i love reading your rambles so please just go on about whatever you have in mind<3

I hope you know this is a bood for every time I pick a section to reread and get in the same situation, anon. So, obviously, at this point I have a hoard of fluffy Mutsuki things to share with you. ANYWAY here are some of my favorites!

Mutsuki likes to wear cute, quirky socks when he's relaxing at home. Like the novelty ones that have cats with moustaches and stuff like that on them. (Suzumutsu addition: Mutsuki has a giraffe-patterned pair that he wears a lot because he loves how happy Suzuya gets every time he notices there's giraffes on his socks)

We know Mutsuki is one of two Quinx Squad members who can cook, but he is a big time stress-baker as well. Best not to even step in the kitchen when he's agonizing unless you're Suzuya and you're here to idly decorate while listening to his problems.

He is a plant dad 100%. Unlike Suzuya's revolving door of messed up foster cats, he seems like the type to have one plant that he is very attached to and passionate about taking care of for a long time.

He loves a rainy/gloomy day. Even walking down the street under his umbrella on the way to work is pleasant for him, not that he doesn't also like to spend the time curled up with a good book/movie and a cup of sugarless coffee.

As much as he cannot handle horror, especially the gory zombies and slashers Suzuya likes, he does read and watch a lot of mysteries! Even a light murder mystery from time to time. (Not that he wants Suzuya to be proud of him when he gets through the latter, except maybe he does a little bit)

They have to be written to exacting specifications to win his ace heart over and he is super picky, but he also has a slight guilty pleasure for romance novels. His other guilty pleasure is being sucked into basic nerd-adjacent millennial TV (think Grey's Anatomy, Criminal Minds, Vampire Diaries, shows like that)

He is a nutty professor drunk and his approaching Nutcracker in canon is actually on the tame side of his reactions to alcohol. This boy would break into shirtless karaoke if he was left to his own devices under the influence. (Yuri!!! on Ice AU anyone? definitely not soft-launching my new writing obsession)

He actually tells really funny stories and jokes when he wants to. They're just reserved for people he feels safe to let go around. Sometimes he can't get through them without making himself laugh.

He seldom swears and unless he's doing it because he's overcome with vehement anger or similar emotion, he stammers as soon as he decides he's going to hesitantly drop an f-bomb

Suzuya starts giving him little sticky notes with cute doodles and kind words when he realizes words actually do speak to some people, and Mutsuki is one of those people.

His favorite kinds of kisses are cheek and nose kisses. They turn him into a blushing, fidgeting puddle every time.

urie had a very poor relationship with his mom following his dad’s death, but the qs convinced him to reconnect with her, and now they get coffee every so often.

if shirazu knew that the qs took care of haru in his place, and still took care of her and gave her a family after she recovered, he would cry literal oceans

mutsuki wishes he was around more post-canon. he loves his current job, but he misses going home to the chateau and being surrounded by that warmth more than he thought he would. when he feels more healed, he’ll go back for good.

saiko sometimes feel guilty because she loves the qs (and haise) more than her own family.

hsiao never felt like she could belong somewhere other than the sunlit garden until she joined the quinx squad.

higemaru’s family seems very close, but there’s a lot of politics and drama involved, so he often skips family dinners at holidays for “work things” aka a much more chill, albeit less fancy, dinner with the qs

aura’s aunt stops by the chateau often with treats from the bakery. the qs are like adopted nieces & nephews to her because they’re so important to aura.
