If people want a new lesbian ship, they can stop trying to genderswap byler and start pioneering bettlice (Betty Newby and Alice Creel, TFS).

There’s a Really good chance (almost 100% actually) that Betty and Alice knew each other, both of them being 15 in TFS. Boom. Don’t like ronance or rovickie or elmax or nancy/barb? Try bettlice. If you want to pioneer a lesbian ship, then do it. But please. Using a canonically gay male character to do it? Thats a yikes from me.
