#i love joyland i cried watching it cuz it felt so familiar to me#spoilers#that does not mean i’m ok with the main character cheating on his wife 😭#sometimes you gotta get over the superficial and connect to the emotional truth of the story#like obvs the point of the movie wasn’t to cheat on ur spouse#it was about the different ways repression and tradition destroys ppl (women especially)#i can relate and empathise with the characters and still be ok with how the story plays out cuz it’s not about me yk#i feel like gen z western audiences just have this weird idea about representation in media and the demands they make seem a bit unfair#now obvs that doesnt applies to any show or book that’s claiming to be a paradigm of good representation like pls shut up
