How I self ship with Helmut is BC im with the CINEMATIC version of him played by the talented Daniel Brühl, who is not a nazi, rather than the comics version who's a vile piece of shit. In civil war when he's getting the book he says "HYDRA (nazi organisation) deserves its place on the ash heap" and proceeds to drown the man who works for them. In TFATWS he says "you remember being a young soldier sent to Germany to stop a mad icon" and how that it's those ideals that let people like the red skull come into power. He states repeatedly that he doesn't stand for supremacy. This is something that happens a lot in the MCU where there are multiple versions of one character from different timelines.
