Alright, it’s finally here, I worked on this like all month and it’s STILL somehow late, but I finished my pride month piece !! I’m so happy with it ! I had a blast with this even if I desperately wish I released it on-time, but oh well. I did enjoy making this, I tried to have each of them show off their respective flags by wearing accessories that to me felt in character for them. Alphys wearing enamel pins, Papyrus wearing stickers, Asgore’s flower crown, Mettaton’s feather boa and earrings, Sans literally just scribbling his flag colors on a shitty piece of paper and taping it to his forehead, etc. I also gave Papyrus and Alphys paraphernalia related to their special interests. It was definitely Frisk’s idea to wrap that gay ass ribbon around Flowey’s pot, though. Don’t worry he’s not homophobic lol, he just doesn’t care and doesn’t wanna be part of this picture. I did make Alphys and Mettaton’s proportions slightly off and it kills me a little but oh well. I also deliberately made this in a CMYK color profile, because I wanna make this into prints, someday. If that’s something you’d be interested in, please sound off in the replies ! I’d love to hear ! These are all my personal headcanons for the characters’ identities. I’ll list them in order from left to right (ironically saving probably the gayest character for last) in case some of the lesser known identities or flags get lost in translation.

I LOVE THIS GAME SO MUCH

I do! I've actually liked it for years. Um, I'm going to be kinda cringe for a minute before I get into the actual game it's self. Spoilers?? Do I need to warn that?

I actually fell into the game when I was in 5th grade, I couldn't even play the game and it still managed to get a grip on me. I watched every video I could find about it, mainly getting sucked into videos reading comics about the game. Me and my friend at the time both loved the game so we would talk about it for hours and real fanfics on Quotev and Wattpad. I actually remember seeing "Down To The Bone." When/ around the time dropped, I listened to it on repeat. I also watched the "Undertale If It Was Realistic." A lot too. ALSO, the undertale parody of "Stronger Than You" was quoted a lot. My friend was a huge fan of Temmie and they used to talk like her and I remember always thinking that was cool. I was always a huge fan of Papyrus, Mettaton, and Sans. Mettaton specifically (more on that later). And I guess I just remember, wanting so bad to be able to be apart of the fandom, but not being able to. I begged my mom to get me merch for the game while trying to hide how I knew so much about the game. (I wasn't allowed on YouTube or social media so I had to tell her I loved it bc my friend did.) I did not get the merch I wanted btw, but um, I guess it's just, it's my childhood in a way. I also used to try and draw the characters but I couldn't draw so I ended up just imagining scenarios in my head. I used to swing on the swing set at recess and just imagine stuff about the game.

Okay so the fun not cringe stuff but still cringe in a way.

So, when I finally played undertale for the first time, oh my god??? It fixed something in me, what it fixed, I don't know. I remember being super confused and trying to look at a guide for everything. I also felt so bad because I killed a few monsters in my first run and when Undyne told me I was killing them I cried. I also cried at her fight because I was dying over and over and I didn't know what to do. And also at the time I thought there were two endings, Pacifist and Genocide, and I cried when I couldn't save Asgore because I thought did something wrong (because at this point I had reset the game and killed no one). Fun fact, I have never played the Genocide route because I can't kill Papyrus. I can't do it man. I'd rather die. I love the sound track, and I love all the characters. And I love the game. I want to get an undertale tattoo at some point I love it that much.

I guess the last thing I want to say is that the game probably made me realize I was queer, in some way. Like it might not have been an instant thing, but it definitely opened my mind to queer ideas when all I had been fed was gay people bad, trans people evil. I think Mettaton was a huge thing to me, I wanted to be like him, I thought he was so cool. I didn't know men could be feminine and be cool, that it wasn't some joke. I just, I think it made me realize something some how. Also seeing a lesbian couple made a little switch in my brain flip, like oh, I like them, and they're gay, so why don't I like other gay people? (I had a LOT of internalized homophobia and transphobia and it was somehow fixed by undertale go figure 😭)

I don't know, maybe this isn't the best breakdown or what you were looking for, and to be fair it's probably unintelligible rambling. But it did give me a chance to look back on my past and how much this game really changed me and made my life better. So thanks! Um and sorry I suppose.

Also! Shocker, and probably insane to admit, but... I never thought I'd find a game that made me feel like Undertale did and then I found TF2. TF2 is my new Undertale and that's horrific </3

Exploring the Dream Team fandom: Manhunt Speedrun Series + Notes on Fandom

After that I will play more Henry Stickmin! Wow, two fandoms to visit!

So, here’s why I think the fandom’s popular:

The Dream Team lead members are Dream, GeorgeNotFound, and Sapnap.

The rest of the members are BadBoyHalo, Technoblade, Skeppy, Tubbo, Tommyinnit, and Quackity. (At least, that’s all the members I found, let me know if I missed someone!)

Kids love to play the endless game of Chase. Chase is basically the speedrun series of Dream and his friends, as Dream tries not to get caught. The world of Minecraft is SO HUGE, Dream and his friends can run ANYWHERE. The smiley face guy keeps running and running. Runs so fast he has SKILLZ. And I mean BIG SKILLS. They did their manhunt speedrun series so good audiences of all ages decided to watch them and do the same, their newest video became #1 on trending in gaming. Inspiration has bloomed to them and now they know Dream’s strategies how to land down safely without getting hurt, without potions, without ANYTHING but materials of Notch nature. I am already watching his newest video of FOUR HUNTERS, FOUR HUNTERS, chasing him and he went BIOME TO BIOME I’m so curious what seeds they’re in. But, it’s not the seeds that matter, it’s how they PLAY. TIER, SO TIER, can’t get enough of it.

The fandom is starting to make it come to fantasy play too, so let’s be wary of the content such as ships that might happen! I’ve already seen the crossovers of Gacha, Undertale, and possibly DDLC since they are FOUR ani’men waifus (there are more, but these are the main members). Reminder these are real life people, just like the popular youtubers out there! We don’t want this to end up like Septiplier drama, but if ever the drama of making them gay starts spewing, keep calm, respect, then carry on. If you’re familiar with pairing Minecraft youtubers before of making their minecraft skins click, then of course  you’re FINE to make them pretend they’re gay for each other. HOWEVER, r34 over a group of young men, let’s be wary of that too. If you see fandoms cosplaying Dream Team, NO BASHING! I wouldn’t mind seeing Undertale dressed as Dream Team, Sans or Papyrus being Dream, Papyrus or Sans as George, Undyne and Alphys, Sapnap and BadBoyHalo. It’s the same as seeing Mark as Mettaton, or Jack as Sans. This is already going to be predictable as much as the other fandoms you’ve seen like Youtuber Egos or other fandoms based out of real life content, so let’s respect the fandom and the likes of others, especially crossover multifandom fans.

Here's a question for you: if you played all of Undertale without knowing anything about the fandom, and after you were done I asked you who you thought the fan favorite was, who would you say? No really, I'd like to know, because I have no good or honest answer to this question. Because the more I think about it, the more sure I am that, while in many fandoms it's clear who the fan favorite is going to be(and that character may even have been designed to be the fan favorite), Undertale doesn't really have that.

Most times, the fan favorite is a young guy with good looks(a specific kind of look too, usually what you would describe as a "pretty boy") that has a good sense of humor and/or is flirtatious and/or is flippant. Sans is a jokester, sure, but he's not a pretty boy. And as I said, he's depressed and chugs ketchup at local diners and is a slacker, and his jokes aren't flirty or insulting(aka "attractive" jokes), they're just bad puns. These things certainly makes him feel more like a real person(or as real as you can get when you're a skeleton), but they don't make for a good fan fave to drool over. So why was Sans chosen to be transformed through fanon as the fan favorite? I think the answer lies in the no mercy route.

I'm pretty sure we all know this is the biggest contributor to his popularity. Although nowadays I prefer the pacifist route, even I was fascinated with the no mercy route back in the day. And there's a perfectly good reason so many felt the same, for a lot of us(myself included) it was an introduction to "darker" stories, where bad things happened and they didn't get better, or were previously fans of games like fnaf. A lot of the fandom was my age at the time(14) or younger. And since the no mercy route was the main focus for so many fans, what, or who was the staple of it? Sans. And honestly, the sans fight really was made to make an impact. It takes a lot of tries, sometimes even more than undyne the undying, the music is the fourth iteration of Toby's signature song Megalovania, and Sans' dialogue reveals more about his character and opens up a possible mystery by saying strange things that he doesn't explain(remember how I said a lot of people were previously fnaf fans? Well it and similar games became popular largely because of the mysteries they presented. So Sans' popularity also grew because of his connection to the larger gaster mystery). So Sans ended up being the most popular character in Undertale, and Undertale became insanely popular, so by proxy Sans became a very popular character in general.

So here's a summary of why Sans is the fan favorite, even though when just looking at him by himself you'd never guess he'd have risen to this level of popularity(aka the TL;DR): Undertale has a distinct lack of characters that fit the typical "fan favorite" mold, and Sans was the character that most closely fit it. His popularity was largely helped by his significance in the no mercy run and his ties to the gaster mystery, which made him more appealing to young fans in particular, who loved the no mercy route because of its darkness and gaster because of the unsolved mystery. Thus, he became the most popular character in Undertale, and since Undertale was so popular itself, he got a huge fandom.

I also want to take this time to look at some other characters who had the potential to be the fan favorites had Sans not taken the role. Most/all of them fit other, "lesser" fan favorite archetypes that I will explain. A lot of these characters are still pretty popular.

Gaster

This one's pretty obvious. If Sans didn't have ties to both the no mercy run and the Gaster mystery, then Gaster himself would be the fan favorite. Even with Sans(or sometimes because of him), he's inescapable. If he was the fan favorite, the loud part of the fandom would largely stay the same, there would just be less focus on the no mercy run.

Undyne

There's two ways Undyne would've become the fan favorite: being a lesbian icon like Catra from spop, making the fandom a lesbian haven, or through straight weeb men who fetishize lesbians. Those two types of fans already make up the Undyne fandom in our quiet little corner, but we would've seen this on a much larger SCALE(lol) if she had been the fan favorite. And let's be honest, what does Sans have that Undyne doesn't? Let's just look at the facts here: A glowing eye that only shows up on the no mercy run, of which they have one of two of the epic battles for that route that are famously hard to beat, both have a mysterious part of them that's not really explained(Undyne's missing eye, why she melted/came back to life instead of turning straight to dust, determination motif, UNDYNE'S MYSTERIOUS TOO GUYS), connections to a royal scientist, I could go on. I can really only think of one reason that Undyne, the buff angry wlw who isn't conventionally attractive, isn't very popular.........

Asriel

Asriel falls under another type of fan favorite archetype that I like to call, "HOLY SHIT CUTE CHILD." The only other example I can think of right now is Niko from oneshot, who is the fan favorite of their game. And Asriel is indeed a cute child! I would've liked to see him be the fan favorite, because I think the Chara & Asriel subplot is underrated in this fandom. Asriel is fairly popular, but he's mostly seen either as flowey or by fans of the KFCA gang nowadays.

Frisk

Frisk being the fan favorite would be a combination of "HOLY SHIT CUTE CHILD" and "protagonist that I can project onto," with a side of mystery due to their ambiguous backstory. So pretty much how they're portrayed now. They're best done by fans of the KFCA gang, but they're seen more often than Asriel, either as a prop in cool art of a place/another character, or to be the kid in those post-pacifist works.

Mettaton

He's another one that's already fairly popular, this is just about what the fandom would be like if he was The fan fave. And if I'm gonna he honest, I'm kinda surprised Mettaton isn't the fan favorite. He's pretty much exactly what the fan favorite archetype is. He's a pretty boy. He's one of the more popular characters in the fandom, sure, but compared to Sans he hardly shows up. And I honestly don't have any good guesses as to why this is. It could be that he's gay and trans coded, but too "flamboyant" and makes the cishet fans uncomfortable, but even that doesn't check out considering how much people fetishize him being trans. If anything, they like that, even if in the most gross way possible. So yeah, I've got nothing.

Chara

They were probably the fourth most popular character back in the day, after the skelebros and gaster of course. And just like Sans, it's because of their ties to the no mercy route. If they were the fan fave, the fandom would probably be a much darker place. Which is sad, because if you look at how KFCA fans depict them, they're great! But anyways, the fandom as a whole has always focused more on "demon" Chara than looking at maybe a more nicer side of them, so if they were the fan favorite, the fandom would be even more focused on the gritty and dark parts of the story. Oh, and people would keep misgendering them, too.

So there you have it, an in-depth analysis of how Sans became the fan favorite, and then what other fan favorites might look like I guess. Even after writing all of this, I still can't quite comprehend Sans' popularity. Fortunately I've found a good niche in the fandom that appreciates all the characters equally. KFCA fans, waterfall gang fans, gorls fans, etc. Everyone is good! But I've stayed holed up in that little community for so long that I don't know the fandom at large's current condition regarding aus, sans, etc., so really this meta is written from my memory of the fandom back in 2016, which is probably outdated somewhat lol. Papyton?

When I started shipping them: It was before i started shipping Kingdings, so it was between march 2016 and june 2016

My thoughts: i love them a lot :3 i feel like they can have a lot of potential together and i feel their personalities match well :3

What makes me happy about them: everything basically. They can help the problems eachother has and also lift them up! Also they were one of the motives i stopped hating orange and pink together (i used to get nauseous seeing those colors together)

What makes me sad about them: besides it not being canon, which actually doesn't make me really sad, i hate the whole ableism that people have when talking about papyrus and the blatant homophobia AND transphobia when they say that Mettaton, a very strongly coded trans gnc man who has similar behaviours to gay men, is a predator. It makes me mostly mad but also sad because they can be so much more but NOOOO it's just sans around here.

Things done in fanfic that annoys me: basically what i said in the last one + over protective sans. And also tagging papyton when it's simply mentioned in the fanfic and nothing more about them. Also people making Mettaton a woman, which HOOO I HATE THIS

Things I look for in fanfic: besides actual fanfic that revolves around them or has them together for a good ammount, and also that doesn't fucking misgenders mettaton or treats papyrus as "uwu innocent baby DONT LET HIM KNOW THAT SEX EXISTS LETS BE ABLEIST AS FUCK" or Mettaton as a predatory sex machine and without sans overprotective...basically a fanfic that barely exists. I just want people doing them justice

Also Mettaton being a blushy mess who likes papyrus a lot and that feeling being reciprocated its very nice. And usually post pacifist stuff. I love it

My wishlist: something more chill, very slice of life, maybe them having kids too. Maybe some aro papyton would be fun :3

Who I’d be comfortable them ending up with, if not each other: i can't imagine them with someone else in ut. But in aus i like some mettasans, mettagore sometimes, some papyrus x oc too

I do not have their sexualities change depending on the scenario they appear in, but most of my boys overall are pretty much completely pansexual, with some small leanings here and there but overall so are they hella pan, or bi.

As I headcanon in monster culture that, unlike humans, so is there no definite sexualities inmonster society, they haven’t needed any names for their sexualities. 

Since there is no stigma whatsoever if you love someone of the samegender or is not interested at all etc, thanks to all monsters been so overly diverse and that there have never been any so called stigma thanks to religion etc, to change that.

They love whoever they want to, or don’t it’s all up to each individual monsters, so pretty much all monsterkind is pretty much pansexual or bisexual, with some few who are not. 

For example, Undyne who is a whole ass lesbian, and Mettaton who is asexual, in my headcanon at least. But while it’s a bit strange to only be interested in one gender or not been interested at all, so is there absolutely no stigma or hate happening. 

With that explained, let’s return to the boys.

Most of them are completely pan, or bi, they don’t really care or have a preference when it comes to gender overall. 

Though some do have some small things they prefer when it comes to appearance and stuff, some leans a little bit more towards one specific gender a tiny bit. But overall none of them cares what you got in them pants, if they like you they like you, simple as that.

But some of them aren’t only pan/bi tho, for example, Stretch; he is also demisexual, it takes a bit for him to grow romantic feelings for someone, he needs a proper friendship connection before romance starts. He is also poly, up for having more than one partner at a time.

Though I almost forgot tho, my G snas boi Gans, he is completely aro/ace. And is the only one out of my boys to be so. 

Technically though, I don’t have proper or set sexualities overall for most of the boys, as they don’t fully need it anyway thanks to my headcanon about monster sexualities overall, they will fall in love no matter what the person identifies as or got in them pants.

And while some, like Stretch above, do have some small preferences, so is this post already getting so long, so if you want to know more like proper specifics then send in another ask ye. 

The only exception to the whole sexualities and this ask tho; are my pirate boys. 

Since they all were originally humans before dying and becoming cursed skeletons, so is it only right that they all got properly named sexualities. Since they have not grown up in proper monster culture and are not originally monsters, unlike my other boys.

So Boney; he is a gay demi bisexual, it takes a bit for him to fall properly in love but this more out of trauma and fear of actually falling in love, but he does lean a bit more towards men overall. This is why I say he identifies as a gay bisexual, easier for him to get interested in a man, or someone who is more masculine overall, but he can still fall for someone who is a woman or nonbinary etc. 

Pass on the other hand is completely pansexual, he literally has no preference like at all, if he likes you he likes you and that’s that. He is also very poly, but it is something he technically doesn’t fully need, as he adapts himself to his partner, if they aren’t okay with adding more people into their relationship so is he completely okay with that.

Then there is my Seafell pap boy Crow, who is completely and utterly gay. Men is the only way he rolls, the gayest ex pirate there ever was.

I haven’t properly thought out the rest of my other pirate boys, but I do have my female versions of Boney and Pass, aka Bon and Nessie. Though Nessie is like pretty much the exact same as Pass though so I’mma skip her.  

Bon tho, she is very much a lesbian. A complete and utter lesbian.

x I had this idea of a human AU where all my boys went to highschool together. In this it wasn’t really a romance au or anything and I wouldn’t be there it would just be a high school drama about 8 (Not including All Might and Fat Gum) teenagers trying to make it to the next year without dying.

x William Wonka aka the Gordon Ramsay of cooking club #2 in the school

Age: 17

Really doesn’t understand why he has to let people into the club for it to be a club when him and Alastor are enough.

Once ran over a rock in his brand new car trying to park, was the laughing stock until he had Alastor handle it. 

Has strong gay energy but no one is sure what he is except a very mean fashion disaster. 

Him, Alastor, Nique, and Mettaton are known as the Toxic Four. They are the Heathers and Mean Girls but way better and more functional in friendship.

Has the best teeth anyone as ever seen

With that being said there is a rumor going around that he bits people that disagrees with him. (Alastor started it)

Is really hard on the members in his club because food is a craft

Has a crush on someone close to him but no one knows who but it may be the school’s drug dealer, who knows

x “Miach” Mettaton aka the main star of every event, ever

Boss Ass Bitch is his entrance song every morning.

He has a page in the school newspaper about staying fabulous and how to bring out your inner beauty.

Is the nice on in the Toxic Four

Really loves doing volunteer work with the elementary school 

Has been caught making out with Dominique before a performance but they aren’t together

Doesn’t vib will with William but since he is a friend of a friend whatever

He does make them wear pink on Wednesdays

He thinks Beyonce is overrated and would wish Nique didn’t play her everyday

He is gentle until it’s game day then move your fucking asses we got a game to win

Has lead his team to victory every year he has been apart of it

Is apart of the same volunteer team Miach is on and teaches kids the importance of keeping their creativity.

Wants to be a teacher

Him and Bryson are always getting into something but always manage to get out of trouble.

Wants to make his family proud of him since all his brother already went off to college and are doing amazing.

x Kurt Wagner aka the “should have been but isn’t” captain of the gymnastic club and theater kid

Age: 17

Transferred from Germany, took him a bit to adapt to his new school

Keeps getting Nique and Micah confused for each other because of their hair and makeup.

Gave up the title as captain of the gymnastic club because he couldn’t handle the responsibility. But the current captain always ask him for the help.

Really enjoys William’s cakes and is the one that has been stealing them.

Is the third wheel of Bryson and Angel and is just happy they let him hang out with them.

He loves getting the villian parts in the school plays bc he gets the best customs. 

Has the best dance moves and everyone loves when he dances at functions.

Talks shit a lot of the time, but since no one but Alastor and Nique knows German he gets away with it.

He can be found in the library most of them time.

x “Bryson” Bumblebee aka the second in command of the basketball team and Angel’s best friend and member of the mechanics club

Is the class clown and the teachers do not love him.

is very artistic but doesn’t really express it because he wants Angel to be in the spotlight.

Will change his clothes during the day, legit packs another outfit in the morning before heading to school

Is the richest kid in the school but no one cares

He drives a new care every week, he picks up Mettaton sometimes and they always roll in with style

Plays his music very loud

Always talks about his besties from another school and has a bad habit of comparing his new friends to them

Will come up to you in the middle of the hall to crew you out about wearing conflicting fabrics

But he is the nicest out of the Toxic Four and will help anyone and everyone

Is the cry baby of the group

Once had a break down over crewing because he didn’t want to keep crewing but had to

It wasn’t William that bit someone, it was Nique and Alastor knows

x Nathaniel Abcott aka the member of the culture and heritage club also the school drug dealer, #1 in the school and hated by William

Age: 18

Is very big on everyone respect other people’s cultures

Is the smartest in the room but you would have no idea because he is high off his ass and asleep all the time

Has an amazing singing voice and can play guitar, he is the kid that sits under the tree at lunch

Ladies man, Mens man, he doesn’t care come to daddy. The respected school hoe

Asks William to cook for him all the time and always gets rejected but not without making the younger boy blush

Doesn’t get along with Mettaton or Nique

He drives a motorcycle to school and like the dork he is, imagines himself as a greaser. He even has the comb switchblade.

Is a momma boy at heart and will make up an excuse of having to help his mother to get out of things. 

His mom shows up to every event ever and she’s the school’s mom

Him and Bryson are weed buddies for life.

x Alastor Hazbin aka Wonka’s right and left hand man in the cooking club and director of the school newspaper and announcements

Age: 18

Nothing gets past him, the hallways are his ears, he knows everything about anyone and will blackmail the fuck out of you

His parents drive him to school everyday and he kisses his mother goodbye everyday

Thinks Williams sweet treats suck, not because they do but because he doesn’t like sweets.

Has put alcohol in William food to make the student body wasted as fuck so he could get a laugh out of it. 

If you pay him he will travel to the rival schools and get the dirt on them and punish it in the school newspapers.

Computer geek and knows the ins and out of firewalls, proxies, vsps, tracking etc etc. He was the one that found out the two of the teachers were changing grades of student they didn’t like. 

He runs this shit from the shadows, you think William is the brains wait till you get a taste of Al

Really enjoys his friends but if need be it for his own safety he will destroy them one by one.

Used to date Miach, was an agreeable breakup and never told anyone. Sometimes it slips up when Miach does something caring for Al but everyone brushes it off.
