Editors: ipiccy, PhotoscapeX, Pixler E The first time Elaii saw his first human female he was smitten with them ever since.  He loved them loud and quiet, soft and hard, big and little, fat or skinny, sweet or sassy they were so exciting and unpredictable to him.  The only draw back to loving humans...were their fleeting life spans and fragile bodies.   Elaii was sleeping with his beautiful wife at their beach house when he woke to see she was gone.  Frantic, he ran out the house nude yelling her name.  He had to calm himself he was thinking, still in a panic he said out loud, "She can't have gone far...she is here calm down look for her."  He used his eagle eyes to searched the horizon for his love.  He saw her...shin deep in the lake.  His heart stopped...he called out to her, " AnnaLisa, AnnaLisa!" he yelled over and over as he ran thru the sand at an inhuman speed.  The woman slowly stopped but did not turn around as if not knowing who was calling her.   To the elf Elaii, it took forever to get to her, but to any one observing, he had reached her in the blur of an eye.  He stood closely behind her as she still faced the lake.  Only a moment ago his youthful gorgeous face was full of worry and fear but that had melted away as he stared at her back.  Still calming himself he reached out to turn her around to face him. Turning her around gently face to face...he saw a woman with pasty wrinkled skin, sunken cheeks and loose jowls.  Her hair was very thin and too red for her age.  Her blue eyes.. were glazed and cloudy.  He could tell she had attempted to adorn her face with makeup, but it looked to heavy and brash on her thin pale skin.  She was standing in the lake wearing a fancy body suit that was never meant for water and designed for a much younger body.  His eyes devoured her every detail...as relief washed over his tense  body.  This was his beloved AnnaLisa and she was safe and beautiful and still with him.   The elderly lady stared back at him confused and a little frighten he could tell.  Seeing the uncertainty in her eyes he realized why.  His tattoos were on full display, his long pointy ears were not covered and he was naked.  He chuckled lightly to himself then gently released her arms and stepped deeper into the cold waves to conceal himself.  He was her husband of 70 years.  They had met and fallen in love at the circus where they performed night after night.  They moved around a lot because he seemed to not age and people would have gotten suspicious.  He always covered his tats and hid his obvious elven ears when they were in public, but never at home.  He revealed he was an elf just before he asked AnnaLisa to marry him.  For whatever reason, these days his lovely wife could not recognize him as her husband when he looked his true self.   Seeing that she was dressed in her old circus outfit, no doubt she was on her way to a performance in a place and time that will never be. Remembering when they first met, he bowed to her extending his hand out for her to take it.  It was an old routine they did decades ago...she forgot many things but she did not forget her dance and music.  AnnaLisa took the young man's hand as they danced in the water laughing and singing songs that her fading mind knew by heart. AnnaLisa's soul could have danced forever, but her body was very tired now.  Elaii, offered her to sit for a moment...which she did as he knelled behind her to support her tired back.  Gentle waves caressed their skin allowing the elderly lady to relax her muscles a bit.  She looked up at the kind man attending her and asked him, "Who are you and do you know my husband?"  Every time she asked him that question, his heart broke in a new place.  Glad that the water droplets from the lake camouflaged hid his tears, he looked at her lovingly and replied in a happy like manner,  "I, dear lady, work at the circus with you.  I am one of your dance partners."  She smiled at him as he continued, "I do know your husband.  You both met at the circus, fell in love and got married many years ago."  AnnaLisa laughed as she turned her head up to look at the man...she was comforted that this was someone who knew her and her husband, but she corrected him kindly, "We were not married MANY years ago silly only this year." Her face lit up as she seemed to remember her loving husband and wedding day.   Suddenly, AnnaLisa stood up and began moving fast deeper into the lake.  She was in a hurry and a bit worried as she politely excused herself from the young man's company,  "Sorry I have to go to my husband he is waiting for me!"  Elaii swiftly but gently placed himself in front of her but not in a threatening way.  He spoke calmly to her, "AnnaLisa, AnnaLisa...your husband is over there in the house..."  He gave her a moment to take in what he was saying, "He is waiting for you...I told him I would bring you to him...are you ready AnnaLisa? Let's go..."  He gently guided her out of the water and back to the house.  Once he got her safely inside, he locked every door and window.  He sat her down in a chair with a bottle of water and a snack then quickly covered his tats and ears and put on decent clothes.   As quickly as he changed his attire and appearance, AnnaLisa was quicker.   When he walked into the room she was at the door pounding trying to get out.  Softly he called out to her, "AnnaLisa my love."  Distraught, terrified and angry...the elderly lady spun around ready for battle ...but smiled when she saw her handsome newly wed husband.  She ran to him, "Elaii, Elaii....Oh my goodness...I've been looking for you all day!" she cried as she threw her arms about his neck and cried into his shoulder.   He led her to the sofa, holding her close to his chest and kissing the top of her head.  She was his 37th human wife and proving to be the most unpredictable of them all.   She herself was becoming a mini circus full of wonder and drama...he smiled to himself...he would not change her for anything.
