Bones - Part 7 - [Mack x David]
Tumblr media
A/N: In the spirt of American Thanksgiving... and family... I give you David Carlson in Switzerland. I'm giggling. You'll know why when you get through this one 😁
Word Count: 6.0k
Tumblr media
“Okay, so David, anyone who is anyone is going to be at this dinner. AND there is a quiz after.” Sophie Hischier teases her sister’s boyfriend. Tonight is their first family dinner since they arrived in Switzerland a couple days ago. The Meiers and Hischiers rented out a private room to celebrate everyone returning to their homeland.
“Shit, I didn’t bring my flashcards.”
Sophie giggles like its the funniest thing in the entire world, then looks over at her sister.
“He is so funny.” She hums in Swiss German. “I love him. We’re keeping him.”
“Soph, English.” Mack chuckles, rolling her eyes. Sophie looks back at David.
“I said, you’re funny. I love you and we keep you.” She reiterates. She squeezes his waist in a quick hug, then floats up to where her parents are walking towards the restaurant. Sophie laces her arm through her dad’s and the three of them take the stairs together. Behind them, Lucie and Connor walk with their daughter. Stella skips with her mom to a beat only the two of them know.
“Twirl!” Lucie exclaims, cheering when Stella’s gorgeous rainbow skirt flares out in a circle. “So beautiful, baby!”
“Woo!!!” Mack hears a cheer from behind her. She turns around, seeing her aunt and uncle strutting across the parking lot looking as posh as ever.
“Expensive.” David gapes at the fancy sports car Timo clicks the remote to lock.
“Oh you don’t even know.” Mack chuckles. “Actually, he probably didn’t even have to pay for that. He’s all sorts of famous in this country.”
“Your dad?”
“Uh huh. Him too. My first car was a Mercedes. Mom tried to talk him out of it. Dad said I was the only one responsible enough to get one. Lucie had to have a BMW.”
“Say that sentence back.” David teases.
“They’re not the same.” Mack holds her hands up. “Like Chevy and Ford.” David snorts.
“Also not the same. Your family is like.. royalty in one of the world’s most expensive countries.” Mack looks at him, contemplating. Then turns away without acknowledging that. What is she supposed to say? He isn’t wrong, but it’s weird to admit to.
Instead, she smiles at her aunt and uncle’s approach.
“This is my Auntie Em.” Mack introduces David to her aunt.
“Oh! Hi! It’s so nice finally meeting Mackie’s boyfriend. You look better like this. You know, when you’re not hurting my kid.” David pauses, mouth dropped open preparing to greet her. He laughs sheepishly.
“It was an accident. I…” He laughs again nervously, looking over at Mack.
“Honey, I’m kidding.” Emma teases. Her lips tilt up in a sly smile, then she pats his chest.
“Oh good.” David sighs in relief as she continues striding past him to greet Lucie and Connor. Timo continues on with his wife after giving David a firm handshake.
“Isn’t she something?” Mack smirks. Behind her parents, Liv Meier hustles forward with Luca Fiala on her arm.
“Yeah. We all want to be her when we grow up.” Liv chuckles as she comes up to the two of them, wrapping her arms around Mack.
“Oh, Hi, Livia.” Mack drawls. “Look at you. You’re stunning. And sooooo blonde!? I love it!”
“Thank you! I just got a touch up from Auntie.” She shakes the long, blonde waves that are cascading down her back. “I feel like we got the exact blonde I wanted.”
“It looks great. You look so much like Auntie Em. Wow.”
“The best compliment!” Liv giggles. “Hi David, it’s so good to finally see you!” She goes to hug him.
“Oh my god, I forgot you two haven’t actually met in person.” Mack and Liv have done plenty of FaceTimes that David has participated in. But the schedules of Liv being in New York and David or Mack too have not lined up at all.
“I feel like we have though.” David smiles, hugging Liv as Mack greets Luca.
“Hey, good to see you, man.” Luca extends his hand to David. “For the record, loved the hit.”
“Shhhhhh.” David shushes Luca. “I do not wanna upset Mama Meier.”
“Lio should be thanking you for that hit. Fixed his whole damn life after that.” Mack insists. David places a hand on Mack’s shoulder, giving it a gentle squeeze. He loves when she stands up for him.
“Shall we?” Luca asks, extending his hand forward. The four of them walk up into the restaurant, finding their large family chatting in a private room. Stella is in Nico’s arms, pointing at all the pictures on the wall, making up names for the Swiss Alps peaks together. Lexi and Emma are catching up. Lio and Timo drink whiskeys together, listening to Savannah tell an animated story. Lucie and Connor are whispering to each other, lost in their own word as per usual. The twins are out on the balcony with glasses of wine, checking out their options for the night, Mack is sure.
Liv and Luca head towards the bar with Mack and David. The boys grab beers while Liv and Mack decide on martinis.
“So how are you doing?” Mack asks Liv as they wait for their drinks. Luca and David dove immediately into shop talk about the latest trade rumors and free agency rumblings.
“Good. Ready to be done with Grad school and this book.”
“Our little overachiever.”
“You should talk. Ms. youngest ever to be nominated for Travel Writer of the Year.”
“I didn’t win.” Mack shrugs.
“Yeah, but you were in the conversation. That’s huge, Mackie.”
“Yuck, I don’t want to talk about me. What about your new book? When can I read it?”
“Oh! Speaking of, I was going to ask, will you be one of my reviewers?!”
“Yes! Oh my god, yes!” Mack grabs Liv’s forearm, squeezing and grinning excitedly.
“Okay, perfect! I thought, since I get to do whatever I want without a dumb team telling me what to do… it would be so fun to have you on the back cover with a review.”
“I am so excited. Yes. Absolutely.”
“Okay but it is a romance. You have to like.. try to like it.”
“Stop.” Mack snorts. “I have a man now. I’m not jaded.” Mack strokes her hand down David’s chest. He looks at her, then smiles, running his hand along her lower back to hold her while him and Luca continue discussing.
“Careful… You look too happy.” Liv winks at her cousin. “I’m thrilled for you.” She whispers quietly. “Love looks good on you.” Mack sighs happily, dragging her cousin into a big hug.
“Learning from the best.” Mack bats her lashes dramatically. “Your parents.” Mack finishes, when she sees her aunt and uncle smooching like teenagers outside. “Look at them.”
“No, they are disgustingly in love. Just be like.. demure instead.”
“Big word!” Mack exclaims. “Okay, I am going to grab this drink and my man and take him outside so he can see the view while the sun is still kind of out.”
“Yes, go.” Liv grabs her drink too.
“Come with me?” Mack asks David, sliding her hand into his free one. They both step outside onto the terrace. Mack sighs immediately at how gorgeous the view is. The sunsets here are so unique and breathtaking. It’s like nothing else has been able to compare and she has seen sunsets all over the world. But this is still her favorite one.
“Wow.” David whispers. He grabs her hips, pinning her between him and the railing so they can hold each other while taking it all in. The cold glass of David’s beer rests on her forearm. Mack’s eyes scan along the horizon, drinking in the jagged peaks of the Alps. Sometimes, its hard for her to believe this is real, that she got to live and grow up in such a magical place. “How did you leave this place?” He asks her.
“Sometimes you have to leave to appreciate where you come from. I was at that point.” Mack murmurs back to him. She takes another sip of her drink. “As you’ve probably noticed, everyone in this town knows me.”
“Mhm.”
“I wanted to be anonymous for once in my life. What better place to do that than in New York.”
“Would you move back here?”
“I might. When I’m older and feel like I want a slower life. Would you come with me?”
“Hell yeah. I’d sell the farm and we could buy some land here. Figure out how to make stuff grow…” He trails off dreamily.
“Always a farmer.”
“Yeah, honey. It’s how I grew up. How I made the farm work too. I knew enough to get by, but when my dad died, that responsibility pushed me to figure out how to make it all successful, not just get by.”
“You’ve done a great job.”
“I’m not fishing for compliments. Just saying.” He shrugs. He takes a long sip of his beer, then rests it back against her arm. “Figuring out alpine farming would be fun. Good retirement plan.” He smirks against her temple, then kisses her there.
Mack has no plans to move back to Switzerland, but knowing David would live here after only a two day taste has her feeling content.
When the lighting of the sunset dims, Mack and David walk back into the restaurant with linked fingers. The warm summer breeze swirls Mack’s hair around as she takes in her family. She loves them. They’re a loud, crazy, hilarious bunch, but they are hers. She loves how David already fits in like a missing piece of them that found it’s way back home. Dinner is served, wine is poured, and laughs are shared all around. The usual suspects are made fun of- Lio and the twins. Everyone swoons when Sophie talks and then grows quiet when Nico speaks.
The dynamics are there, even with Lucie and Connor who disappear during dinner for awhile. Lucie comes back looking way too put together, almost purposefully. Mack catches her eye and shakes her head. David squeezes her thigh under the table. Dessert is decadent chocolate mousse that has David’s eyes rolling back into his head.
“The best.” Mack tells him. He nods.
“Yeah. American chocolate sucks.”
The Swiss at the table cheer proudly. “Okay, he can stay in the family!” Sophie yells.
“Thanks, Soph.” David smiles at Mack when he says it. Mack threads her fingers over his hair then pulls him in for a kiss while everyone watches. David cups her cheek, moving his lips against hers as everyone cheers.
“To family.” Nico raises his glass. “Proscht!”
The room fills with clinking glasses. Mack and David clinks theirs together too.
Proscht, indeed.
- - - & - - -
Two weeks into being home with David and Mack is more relaxed than she has ever been in recent memory. There is nowhere to go, nowhere to run off to. Everyone she wants to see is here and everything else can wait.
Beneath the mountain sun, she lays out in a chaise, quietly reading a book while the boys are bopping around in the lake. Stella is learning how to swim with her dad while Lio and David cheer her on from beside him.
“That’s it Stell!” Connor cheers as she rushes towards him. Mack glances up, seeing the flailing arms and legs of her niece. It looks less like swimming and more like drowning to her. But Connor’s arms wrap around the little girl’s body, pulling her up and out. Stella’s hair is slicked across her face, held over her cheeks by the pink, sparkly goggles she has on.
“Good job!” Lucie cheers from next to Mack. “I’m trying to let go of all my anxiousness, but it’s a little hard.” Lucie sighs to Mack. She scratches at her cheeks then takes another sip of the mocktail she made earlier in the day.
“Connor has her.”
“I know. It’s just…” Lucie shakes her head. “Hard with my pre-birth anxiety.”
“I can see that.” Mack acknowledges. Although she isn’t pregnant and doesn’t plan to be, she can certainly see how life-changing moments like pregnancy and birth can alter your brain chemistry and world outlook. Lucie waves at Connor and Stella in the lake.
“Mom! Did you see!?”
“I did, baby! Good job!” She yells down again. “Where is Soph?” Lucie asks Mack. “I thought she was supposed to be back by now?”
“I think they were boating to town for lunch, then she would be back.”
“Oh. She better not be on a boat with someone who is drinking and driving.”
“Really?” Mack purses her lips. “Like you never got into a boat with Lio after he had been drinking.”
“I was dumb. She is smarter than me.” Lucie insists.
“I don’t think anyone is smart at 19.” Mack reminds her. Lucie sighs.
“I’m going inside. I need a break from life.”
“Okay.” Mack waves to her, then settles back into her book.
Mack gets through several more chapters of her book before the group in the lake gets tired from swimming lessons. David comes to sit in Lucie’s vacated chair while Connor heads inside to grab Stella a well-earned snack. Lio and Savannah disappear down to the dock to join Liv and Luca there.
“That was super fun.” David sighs. “She really got the hang of it at the end.”
“She has the best coaches and hype boys down there.” Mack smiles, putting a book mark in her book then closing it.
“Stella is such a firecracker. I love it. At one point, she sucked up some water and we were like ‘take a break!’. She refused. Just said ‘again’ and cruised right through that water to try again.”
“She worked up an appetite too.”
“Oh yeah. Needed a jelly sandwich.” David grabs one of Mack’s ankles, bringing her foot into his lap so he can massage it for her. “How is your book?”
“Good.” She smiles.
“Let me guess you’ve read it like 20 times?”
“Yeah and it get better every time.” She grins at him.
“My girl hates surprises.” He chuckles.
“Yep.” She strokes her big toe down the center of his abs. She then lets it skirt over the ties of his board shorts before resting it back on his thigh. David licks his lips, slowly looking over at her. His green eyes sparkle, a slight smirk lifting a corner of his mouth up. It’s a warning. Mack purses her lips and looks away.
“I’m going to head inside.”
“Will you be back?” He asks.
“Yeah I feel like I need a snack and a bathroom break.”
“Okay.” David releases her foot. Mack slides it from his lap then stands. She stretched her arms high into the sky, shaking her head at the way her boyfriends eyes are clearly on her boobs.
“Obvious.”
“Not trying to hide it, honey.” He says, leaning back in his chair.
Mack walks in through the sliding glass door, smiling as Stella has jelly smeared all over her face.
“Grape!” She exclaims, holding a half eaten portion out to her.
“Ooo, looks good.” Mack tickles here wet, ruffle covered belly then goes the the fridge to grab a sparkling water. She cracks the bottle open then glugs down a few sips.
“Okay, are we ready to go back out?” Connor asks his daughter. “Maybe do some back flutters this time?”
“I’ll come with babe!” Lucie calls from the living room.
Mack smiles, watching the Woods gather one another then head back out into the lake. The house is quiet, everyone out enjoying the hot summer sun. Mack leaves her water bottle on the counter, then heads upstairs to the guest bathroom. She quickly does her business, then washes her hands. After, she fixes her pony tail and double checks her sunscreen coverage still looks good on her face. She should probably grab a hat while she is inside.
The thought barely gets across her mind as she opens the door. Outside the bathroom, her boyfriend sits, bare-chested, board shorts swelling with a glint in his green eyes. Oh.
“What are you doing?” Mack asks as he steps forward. His hands on her hips push her back into the bathroom. He shuts the door, flipping the lock.
“I don’t trust Stella.” He explains. Mack closes her eyes, laughing and nodding her head. True.
“Bend over that counter.” He points to her. Mack scans his face, beginning to drip into her bikini bottoms with how damn possessed he looks.
“That one?” She asks, jerking her hand over her shoulder. David turns her shoulders, then forces her to bend over the counter. Mack exhales in surprise. “Okay…” She laughs, then pulls her hair over one shoulder. She looks up in the mirror at him. “Now what?” David smirks at her.
“Your dad followed me into the house.” He tells her as he grabs the edges of her bottoms. Mack stills. She glances towards the door as the cloth falls to her ankles. “He thinks you’re the tamest daughter. The non-chaotic one who would never do something like beg her boyfriend to fuck her in the bathroom while he’s downstairs.”
His fingers glide over her puffy lips, gliding to her entrance to gather up her wetness then spread it across her sex. Mack swallows her moan, keeping her face neutral.
“I don’t know if I want it right now?” She tilts her head, challenging. David raises his eyebrows at her. He begins to undo the ties on his swim trunks, making Mack’s eyes lower with pleasure.
“You don’t want this?” He asks, gathering his hard erection in his hand. He strokes her core with his swollen head. Mack sways from pleasure but shakes her head no. She breaks eye contact when she does this. David grabs her face, squeezing her cheeks for her to open her eyes. Her lashes flutter as she does, looking almost innocent in the mirror. “Say it again.” He eases just the tip of his cock into her. Mack tries to close her eyes and David squeezes her cheeks harder. “Baby. I asked you to do something for me.”
Mack sags into his body, causing her to swallow more of his shaft. David pulls out of her, letting the hardness slap against her outer lips as he waits for her answer.
“I want it.” She moans as his fingers twirl her clit.
“Yeah. Beg.”
“Please, I want your cock.” She whispers. She turns away from their reflection in the mirror to look at him. He leans down, kissing her lips, devouring her mouth like she is his lunch.
Then he grips his shaft, rolling himself through her slit once, before plunging in.
In her haze, Mack completely forgot about David’s statement.
Her dad came in with him.
It isn’t until she is two minutes into getting fucked on the bathroom counter that it hits her. The handles of the cabinets bite into her thighs and knees. David brings her up on her tip toes to get better leverage. Then footsteps hit the stairs.
“Shit.” Mack whispers, reaching back to stop David’s thrusts into her. David looks at her in the mirror, then shakes his head. He leans more forward over her back and fucks deeper into her. The sounds fills the echoing bathroom and Mack shakes her head at him in the mirror. David stops, seeing her clear panic and discomfort.
“Trust me?” He asks her, slowly puling out then pushing back in. The elicit allure of pleasure blurs rational thought from her brain. Mack can only describe what happens next as pure insanity. She nods that he can continue. Then David puts his foot up on the toilet lid before pushes her down onto the counter again. He brings her hand to his balls to keep them from thrashing against her skin. Now his long, deep strokes hit into her without any crude clapping. Her ass nudges against his inner thigh and abdomen instead, allowing deep thrusts but eliminating the risk of being heard.
Mack clenches around him, shoving her mouth into her forearm. She bites down hard as her breasts sway into the cool marble from David’s hard fucks into her. He brings a hand to her neck, close to her shoulder, pulling her back onto his thick cock.
“Shhhh.” He mouths to her in the mirror when she looks up at him.
The closet door by the bathroom opens, they can hear rummaging around. Mack bites her lip, eyebrows squiggling together as she holds back a deep, primal moan.
“Good girl.” He mouths to her, barely audible.
The closet door shuts and the footsteps lead back towards the stairs, clomping down them.
Once the coast is clear, David begins to fuck harder into her, long, strokes while his hands move to cup her breasts. He massages them, tweaking her nipples as he connects his chest with her back.
“Baby watch me make you cum in that mirror.” He demands. He grips her chin, forcing her gaze back in front of her.
Mack raises her brown eyes to him and watches. There, she sees every dip and curve of his hips as he fucks her pussy. She sighs, collapsing into his thrusts, letting his hands maneuver her body to get them both to their high. When she is close, he keeps that demanding pace, licking his lips, hips dipping down to get her at a better angle. His head rubs at her walls in a delicious tease that has Mack coming around him. He fucks her through her orgasm, keeping a tight grip on her hips as he takes what he needs.
He slams into her three more times, hard, unforgiving, then spills into her core. His hips smoosh her ass, forcing her stomach into the counter uncomfortably. The view of his face as he comes has Mack’s muscles fluttering around him again. She exhales a groan, holding his ass so he stays deeply buried inside of her. When he opens his soft green eyes to take her in, she clenches her walls around him again. David grins at her, then cups her ass, giving it a demanding squeeze. David presses his hips into her harder, then rolls her hips against him. Mack squeezes again, David bites his lip then hisses at the overstimulation.
“Fuck.”
David pulls out of Mack, bringing with him a glob of his cum. He grabs toilet paper, wiping it off, then goes to her used, puffy lips. He cleans her off as best he can, before pulling her bikini bottoms back into place. He tucks himself back into his shorts, then grabs Mack’s hips, holding on to her as he sighs.
“Better and better every time. I swear.”
“Yeah, cause you’re a freak in this house.” She chuckles. Her and David have had a great sex life since the beginning, but he has been almost insatiable since they’ve arrived in Switzerland. He shrugs.
“Something about you here has me hooked even more than usual.” Mack stands back up to her full height. David’s hands move to wrap around her stomach, holding her close. His big hands completely cover her abdomen, making Mack’s insides fill with butterflies. He stares at her in the mirror then turns to kiss her head.
“I love you.” Mack tells him. “I don’t want to share you anymore. Let’s go take a nap.” Mack flips her hair back over her shoulder. “You can hold me and kiss me and love on me again when we wake up later.” David smiles.
“Sounds like Heaven.”
Mack goes to the door, unflipping the lock then glancing both ways. When it’s clear, she pushes David out into the hallway. He laughs at how guilty she looks tiptoeing back to her room. She leans against the door, sighing in relief at not being caught.
“Now that I’m not dizzy from your dick, I will literally die if he heard us.”
“He didn’t hear anything.” David assures her. He has no idea, clearly, but Mack finds it adorable that he wants to ease her worries. “If he did, I’ll take the blame. Let him hate me so you can stay perfect in his eyes.”
“My dad definitely doesn’t think I’m perfect.” Mack crawls into bed next to him after changing into a pair of athletic shorts. David collects her to his chest immediately.
“You’re perfect to me, honey.”
David rubs her hair.
Mack rubs his stomach.
Then they do the best thing you can on a summer vacation, fall asleep in a warm cocoon of love.
- - - & - - -
(David)
Exhausted from swimming in the lake all day, Mackenzie Hischier lays curled up into a perfect ball in her boyfriend’s lap. David strokes his hand along her back, careful to keep an even rhythm so she doesn’t wake up. She’s been fighting a nap all day after he kept her up most of the night. It wouldn’t be fair for him to wake up her again when she’s finally getting some good sleep. So slow, continuous strokes over her sweatshirt are what he does.
David has loved everything about Switzerland, but there is something sinfully sexy about fucking Mack in her childhood bedroom. He can’t get enough of it. He’s never been one to wake her up multiple nights in a row, for multiple rounds, but here he is, doing it for almost an entire month. He loves her soft moans, loves the way she bites onto the meat of his palm to stay quiet, loves knowing no one else has ever had her in that room before. Not even her dipshit college “boyfriend” who couldn’t find her clit.
What a fucking idiot. David finds himself quietly scoffing and shaking his head. He blinks away his thoughts, then adjusts Mack a bit on his thigh where her hip bone is digging into him. He tilts his head down to look at her face. Her lips are split apart and the left side of her nose squishes slightly up on his chest. He smiles down at her, loving how comfortable she is here with him. When he raises his gaze back to the room, he catches Nico Hischier studying them. David double checks his hands are in appropriate places on Nico’s daughter then gives him a nod. Nico nods back, a sign of acceptance, then turns back to the TV where a movie plays out.
David hopes to catch Nico and Lexi tonight without Mack hovering around the corner. He thinks she might finally be tired enough to go to bed first. David’s chest starts to pound a little harder in his chest at the thought of the conversation he needs to have with his girlfriend’s parents. He knows they like him, but hopes the last four weeks they’ve spent here has them completely comfortable with giving him permission to marry their daughter.
He can’t imagine life without Mack. She stormed into his life all hot and bothered, overstimulated and under appreciated. He’s gathered her up in the midst of all that and soothed those out of control parts of her by loving her so well. He knows her parents can see that, hell Nico is looking over at them again seeing it in real time. Mack finds David safe and comfortable. No one has ever been able to hold her free and kept at the same time.
David vows to be the only one to do that. Ever.
After her parents give their blessing.
The movie ends and Sophie’s loud yawning makes Mack startle awake. She sighs, gripping David’s sweatshirt tighter. He kisses her head, then begins to work his grip around her back and under her knees.
“Ready?” He asks her. She nods. David stands with her in his arms, carrying her up the stairs to her room. He lays her on the queen sized bed, filled with a deep purple comforter adorned with ruffles. It’s so moody but girly, just like her. He can imagine her laying on this bed as a teenager, head phones in, book in front of her face as she ignored her dad’s second call for dinner.
“I’m gonna grab some water for us. I’ll be back.” He murmurs to her. Mack doesn’t even hear him. She’s already fallen back to sleep tucked into her sheets.
David won’t wake her up tonight. It’s clear she needs the sleep.
Quietly, he tip toes out of the room. Lucie and Connor are saying their goodbyes with a sleeping Stella in her father’s arms. Nico smoothes the little girls curls down, then kisses her cheek gently.
“Goodbye, sweets. We will see you back home okay?” Nico assures the little girl. She nods sleepily in response, then yawns.
“Bye. See you for Fall break.” Sophie hugs the two adults, then skirts around everyone to go up to her room. David nods to Lucie and Connor.
“See you tomorrow at the airport.” He acknowledges them. They’re all heading back to New York on the same flight. Then Connor and Lucie will be heading to Massachusetts while Mack and David jet to Iowa.
Nico and Lexi walk the family out of the house to the car. David waits leaning against the wall in the entry way. He glances over his shoulder, listening for sounds of Mack, but hearing none. Even Sophie has gotten quiet upstairs. The two parents walk back into the big house holding hands.
“Hey, I’m sorry to ah, pounce on you right at the end of the night, but I was hoping we could talk?”
“Sure.” Lexi nods, motioning with her hand back to the living room. David leads the way, sitting back in the chair him and Mack had been in earlier while her parents take the couch. He leans forward, elbows on his knees, hands clasped together.
“What’s up?” Nico asks, a slight smile on his face. David smiles back, breathing out heavily as he glances at the pictures on the wall. There are several of Mack when she was younger with varying faces. One in particular he loves because she’s sticking her tongue out while crossing her eyes. She’s carefree like children are and he brings that same looseness out in her as an adult.
“To start, I want to say thank you for letting me stay here with your family. I have really enjoyed my time here. You two have welcomed me here, and into the family, without any reservations. You knew me before as Connor’s teammate but my on-ice personality is a little different than who I am off the ice. I know with your career, you understand that.” Nico chuckles and nods.
“Um, every time I try to get the words together to describe what Mack means to me, I fail miserably, but I’m gonna try to get this right for you two. Simply put, I love her. Unconditionally. With every fiber of who I am, I love your daughter. Every single thing about her, even the parts of herself that she desperately tries to change because she thinks they aren’t good enough for the world. She’s moody, inconsistent, always wanting to run around the world and be anywhere but home. And I love it.”
“Mack can certainly be a little complex.” Lexi acknowledges as the three of them chuckle at David’s description of her.
“I hear you, but not to me. I see her. I know her. I hear her. I heard her when she ran in January. And I heard her when she came back to me too. That doesn’t scare me. I know she needs to go sometimes. She needs to be free to feel and grow and come to terms with what she probably already knows.  I’m never gonna cage her in. She will always know freedom and space while also having a home with me.” Lexi rolls her lips together, pursing them as her eyes fill with tears.
Nico brings his clasped hands to his lips, pressing into them until they turn white from the pressure. David swallows hard. How is this going? Is it going good? He can’t fucking read them.
“I hope that what you’ve seen of me in this last four weeks has you believing my words and intentions with her. I want Mack to be my wife. I want to come home, take care of her, love her and support her. I want to have dreams and goals with her that we make come true in our own way- a mix of my grit and her creativity. So…” He trials off, reaching into the inner pocket of his sweatpants where he zipped the ring earlier. He pulls it out between his thumb and pointer finger. “With your blessing, I would really like to marry your daughter.”
“Wow.” Lexi practically hiccups. She looks over at Nico who nods with his eyes closed. “Yeah.” Lexi brings her hands up to her eyes. She wipes her fingers under them then reaches for the ring. “Can I?”
“Of course.” David hands it over to her. Lexi holds it delicately in her fingers, turning it every which way as the light collects in the diamonds.
“I don’t think… we ever really saw this for Mack.” Lexi acknowledges.
“Yeah.” Nico clears his throat. “Mack just… never wanted to be in love. I think she was that way when you first met her too.” David nods.
“Spicy when she doesn’t like how things make her feel.”
“Mhm.” Nico nods. He scratches at his forehead, then continues. “As a parent, all you want is for your kids to be happy. We were happy if Mack was happy. When Mack came home this winter, she was not happy. She was miserable. And even in those tough moments in the cabin with her, she loved you. She loved you enough to try to decide for you that you deserved better.” David shakes his head, smiling as he does it.
“Crazy.”
“Yeah, well you’re the one signing up for a lifetime left of that.”
“Can’t wait.” David beams. Nico chuckles.
“I believe that. Lex and I were talking the other night how good you are at loving her. It’s been a long time since we have seen Mack so comfortable in who she is and her roller coaster. She fights it a lot. She doesn’t like the parts of her that are out of control. But those parts aren’t so scary for her when she’s with you. She embraces them, lets them show and then pass because she’s safe with you. We can’t thank you enough for that. For loving her so completely that she doesn’t want to run anymore.” Lexi hands the ring over to Nico. He looks it over for a moment, then holds it in the air towards David. “She’s going to love that.”
“Yeah, she is.” David agrees.
“I know we don’t know your parents and truthfully, Lexi and I are sad about that as I’m sure you are too. But they would be very proud of the man you have become.” David stills, feeling tightness grip his throat. “They raised a strong, caring, empathetic person who works his ass off for the people he loves. Mack is lucky to be one of those people.”
“Thanks.” David clears his throat. “That means a lot coming from you.”
“You’re our kid now.” Lexi nods her head along with Nico. “And we love you.”
“Big time.” Nico acknowledges.
The three of them stand. Hugs are shared all around, then David dismisses himself to join Mack for bed. They have an early morning tomorrow. As David climbs back up the stairs, he sneaks a look over his shoulder at Nico and Lexi hugging each other. He grins as he walks down the hall.
David is finally going to get his family after all.

Random X-Men Headcanons!
Me and my friend have compiled a lot of headcanons for the X-Men (mainly formulated from jokes) so I wanted to put some here! A few of these are headcanons, most are jokes lol
Kurt listens to really peppy music when he's upset, the main one being the Beach Boys. Just imagine him, poor little German boy, singing Surfin' USA tiredly, trying to turn his mood around.
Erik listens to girly pop music, mainly Katy Perry and Ke$ha. Why? Because it's funny. Let him be girly pop.
Scott tells a lot of jokes but he's deadpan so people can never really tell. Like sometimes he'll just say some insane shit, plain faced, and see how the others react.
Dancing headcanons! Remy is a very good dancer, being particularly prolific in swing dancing. Logan somewhat refuses to dance, but he can line dance. Morph doesn't know how to dance, but they act like they can, dancing like a drunk white girl. Scott and Jean like to dance in private, but Scott gets nervous to dance in front of others. Ororo can bust that shit down.
Scott tries not to laugh when he, or someone else, is doing a bit. Like he tries not to break as he jokes along, to the point where he has to stop talking to not smile, biting inside of his mouth.
Furthermore! He also has a loud laugh, and people get a little caught off guard when they hear it. Me and my friend have described his laugh as a goose honk sound.
Kurt gaslights for fun, and he can get everybody pretty good, except Scott and Jean. You may think "oh because Jean's a telepath, right?" No, because--
Scott and Jean gaslight each other for fun, and they formulate these fake, big arguments, just as a bit. So, they're very familiar with gaslighting tactics, being they lie to each other as a joke, so when Kurt tries to, they immediately meet him-- A little too well, because Kurt is used to just messing with people.
Scott will occasionally freak people out by lowering his glasses (keeping his eyes closed of course). Like someone says "Hey, take a look at that." and he'll lower his glasses and go "Where?!" as a joke.
Everyone loves Kurt. Like, everyone. If Kurt doesn't like someone, everyone has a distaste for them as well.
Jean refers to her own psychic abilities as her "Jedi Mind Tricks"
This one isn't really a headcanon, just a running gag me and my friend do, but something bad will happen, or something inconvenient, and Remy will go "Don't worry.", insistently. Like a loud explosion can go off, and Remy will just say "Don't Worry." Occasionally this will be lengthened to "Don't what? Worry!"
We don't call Leech by his name. We call him Gneep Gnorp. That's it.
Kurt and Remy are super close (as pseudo brother in laws) and they hang out a lot, also doing that guy thing where they flirt with each other as a joke.
No one likes Emma. That's it.
Scott is autistic.
Warren is well manicured. He always has his hair just as he likes it, his wings always preened, his clothes always ironed. He'll a snazzy lookin' fella.
Rogue is a great singer. This barely a headcanon, her voice actress literally put out a song "Mojo Man (Ode to Remy LeBeau)", go listen to it.
Kurt's very coy and playful. Like, "Staaahhppp, hehe!" He also laughs at his own jokes all the time, like he cracks himself up.
Music headcanons! Here's just a few of the ones we made-- Scott likes dad rock obviously, mainly soft rock and folk rock (The Beatles, Hall & Oates, The Beach Boys, CSNY), Logan likes harder rock (Metallica, Alice Cooper, Motley Crue, Iron Maiden), Morph likes new wave and glam rock (Oingo Boingo, David Bowie, Talking Heads, Tears For Fears), Remy likes a fun mix of jazz, country, and soul, with a little rock sprinkled in (Johnny Cash, Ray Charles, Billie Holiday, Queen), Jubilee likes a lot of pop, pop-rock, that sorta thing (Cyndi Lauper, Madonna, ABBA, Wham!)
Kurt has a lil hyperfixation on pirates and ships-- this is kinda canon in the comics. But he loves talking about pirate history and ships and misconceptions.
I'm sure there's a bunch of ones I can't remember but there ya go lol
thanks to @the-death-defying-night-crawler for being funny and making these with me lol

I want to thank your for your amazing fics and recs!!
Plus I wanted to ask if you have any Halloween cherik fic recs? It could about them just celebrating Halloween or about them being monsters or something spooky. Anything that’s considered Halloween themed.
Guys, Sept and Oct have been such busy months for me in RL I haven't had the chance to catch up with recs and writing eek! Hopefully after next week things will slow down so I can properly partake in fandom again lol.
In the meantime, here are a list of Halloween fics for you to check out! I linked a post at the end to a list of vampire aus, but I'll be back with a monster themed Halloween rec list in a short while. Happy reading!!!
HALLOWEEN FIC RECS - PART 1
King of the Pumpkin Patch by tahariel
Charles has a Scaring deficit, but Erik is happy to help him learn to be more frightening this Halloween.
Fusion with Nightmare Before Christmas.
Ring In The Witching Hour by luninosity
Halloween at the mansion (written February 2012). Costume parties, ethics debates, emotional hurt/comfort, implied sex; slight warning for not-very-explicit mention of abuse in Charles's childhood.
To Boldly Dress (Like Those Who Might Have Gone Before) by iberiandoctor (jehane)
Erik doesn’t do Halloween costumes. Peter and Charles try to change his mind.
Seal Your Doom Tonight by CharryWotter
It's October at the X-Mansion, and as everyone prepares for the Halloween party, Peter makes a promise to his friends that he'll finally confess to Erik that he's his son...on Halloween.
When the day rolls around, at Peter's suggestion, Erik is dressed up as a zombie - and is completely out of his element. The party is loud and crowded; and through the noise, Peter gets up the courage and shouts the truth to Erik.
There's just one problem. Under the pounding music of the party, the words "You're my dad," sound quite a lot like "You're undead."
So can you really blame Erik for replying, "I AM AWARE! IT'S YOUR FAULT!"?
with the spiders on the wall by orphan_account
Erik is used to getting roped into a costume for Halloween, what with having 7 year old twins. This year is no different.
Trick or Treat by ximeria
Erik might have developed a bit of a crush on Raven's brother without ever having met him. It's just that he keeps witnessing Raven losing every argument with him on the phone and Erik is curious, okay? Anyone who can argue Raven out of one of her harebrained ideas has to be worth meeting.
The Most Sincere Patch by starlady
"Sexy professor" Charles meets a sexy vampire at Moira's annual Halloween party.
Xavier Family Values by winter_hiems
Charles and Erik love all their children. They’re just a little worried that David might be becoming, well… normal.
(An X-Men Addams Family AU)
trick or treat by pocky_slash
A Halloween ficlet collection.
Haunted House on the Hill by ximeria
Erik's not too sure at first about Raven talking him into taking Lorna to a haunted house party in Westchester. What if it's too scary? What if it's too boring? Is he expected to socialize as well?
Adam and Steve by TurtleTotem
Charles doesn't have a partner for Emma's couples-themed Halloween party, but perhaps he can tempt Erik to help him out...
A Headmaster in Sleepy Hollow by arcapelago (arcanewinter)
Sean is engrossed with the Legend of Sleepy Hollow when Charles lets slip that the historical location is just 30 miles away on the other side of Westchester county. Sean and Alex sneak out of the mansion to investigate, and Charles and Erik go to retrieve them, surprised to discover that North Tarrytown has at least one mystery for the holiday. (Set in the Burdens universe.)

different wednesday, different-ish wip
will def be rated at least M
—————
Cake was had, and champagne turned into shots at Ruby’s behest as Henry begrudgingly went to bed and both Neal and Robin were tucked into the guest bedroom. Regina agreed to a shot, which, with Ruby, turned into three. Soon Regina was swaying with Emma in their dining room, the table magicked away for their makeshift dance floor. Emma sang completely wrong lyrics into her ear as they moved to a song Regina almost remembered but couldn’t recall the title. She had more to drink than she normally did, blissfully drifting along in Emma’s arms, safe and loved.
“I love you,” she said, not bothering to lift her head from where it had come to rest on Emma’s shoulder. Emma turned them slightly, swaying away from Snow and David as they spun dramatically across the room. Emma’s hands smoothed over her back, tracing up and down the knobs of her spine. She moaned quietly at the sensation, far too content to care if their house was still filled with people. Desire reared its head, unable to be coaxed away in her current state. “Shhh,” Emma chided with a smile, softly assuring her, even as she continued the motion. “I know, baby. I love you, too.”
Regina moaned a little louder, pressing her lips to Emma’s neck. “I know; I wish all these people would leave.”
“Yeah?”
“Yeah.”
“Why’s that, baby?” Emma asked teasingly.
“I really want to fuck you.”
Emma swore softly, kissing her temple as she spun them. The teasing tone dropped from her voice, replaced with one that matched the huskiness of Regina’s. “Gina, there’s like thirty people here.”
“They should leave,” Regina insisted, voice muffled as her lips grazed Emma’s throat, tongue darting out slightly to tease rapidly reddening skin. “So I can fuck you.” Emma’s hand immediately ceased its drifting and settled with the other at the small of Regina’s back.
“I can't exactly kick everyone out of my dad’s birthday party, which you agreed to host by the way, because you’re incapable of keeping in your pants.”
“Mmmmm… guess we’ll see,” Regina breathed, latching her mouth to Emma’s neck, teeth scraping against tender skin before retreating. Emma’s chest heaved, pulse racing under Regina’s lips. She grinned, pressing one last kiss to her girlfriend’s throat. Emma groaned. “You are evil, aren’t you?”
“The absolute worst, darling,” she purred in response. Emma chuckled, low and dry, before peeling herself off of Regina. Regina whined. Emma kissed her softly, just a peck really, taking her hand and pulling her from the dance floor. The world spun momentarily as it widened from being only Emma. Regina blanched as her drinks suddenly caught up to her, vision blurring slightly as she clung to Emma. Emma navigated them through the throngs of people settled in their house, making small talk with friends they passed as she led Regina to the kitchen.
Once they made it to the thankfully uninhabited kitchen, Emma pressed Regina against the sink, leaning down to kiss her. Regina immediately parted her lips, hands threading into golden hair as Emma acquiesced, tongue running hotly over Regina’s. She moaned; she wanted Emma there and then, no more waiting, regardless that the party didn’t seem to be ending anytime soon. She thought, for just a moment, that Emma was on the same page. Hands found her hips, and she was flush with Emma, her body enveloped by the blonde’s aura as the counter dug into her lower back. Pleasure rippled through her as Emma’s hands purposely wandered lower, lifting her to sit on the counter. Regina wished that she had worn a skirt as hands roamed her jean clad legs, inching closer and closer to where she needed Emma’s fingers. But just as suddenly as she found herself on the counter, Emma was gone.
“Hey!” Regina protested, head spinning as Emma darted away. Her skin was on fire, lips puffy, and achingly wet between her thighs. Emma shot her a grin as she opened a cabinet and produced two glasses. She returned to Regina, kissing her cheek before filling a glass at the sink. The glass was pressed into her hand, and she frowned. “I don’t want water.”
Emma smiled widely at her and filled the second glass before taking a sip. “Water’s good for you, baby, especially when you’re as drunk as you are.”
“I’m not drunk,” Regina scoffed. Sure, she had some champagne and a couple of shots, but Regina Mills did not get drunk. She would admit to being a little tipsy, at least to herself. Emma finished her glass in two gulps and placed it in the sink, looking at Regina expectantly. “Fine,” she seethed, exasperation bubbling up as Emma’s hands settled on her thighs. Regina attempted to hold on to the irritation, but Emma’s face did the thing, the one that melted like acid through every wall around her heart. Her head tilted slightly, a wave of blonde curls falling over her shoulder as she ran her hands encouragingly over Regina’s thighs. It cut her to the core; no one had looked at her with such softness in years. There had been moments with Daniel, a lifetime ago now, when she had been nothing more than a girl in love. Emma made her feel that way again. Regina would never confess to reveling in the stolen kisses and shameless flirting, but Emma always made her feel wanted; Regina believed her now, that she deserved to feel this way.
So she drank the stupid water. Emma rubbed her thighs encouragingly, taking the empty glass from her hand and placing it in the sink next to her own when she was done.

The Role of Daddy Charming--A birthday gift for @jrob64
The Role of Daddy Charming
Rating: PG
Relationship: Daddy Charming and Captain Swan
Summary: 4x2 “deleted scene”.  David Nolan had played many roles in his life, but by far the one he's found most important was that of “dad”. The fact that he hadn’t been able to be there for Emma throughout the first 28 years of her life was one of his greatest regrets, so when he noticed the infamous Captain Hook’s interest in his daughter–and even more concerning, her returning that interest–he was determined to intervene. That is, of course, until she was trapped behind an ice wall, and David saw just how deeply and sincerely Killian Jones truly loved her.

It's finally done! I'm sorry your birthday gift is 11 days late @jrob64, but I hope you've at least enjoyed the little snippets I posted on discord as I wrote this! Happy belated birthday!
And without further ado....
~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*
Throughout his life, David Nolan had played many roles.  He’d been a son, a brother, a shepherd, a prince, a vet tech, a sheriff’s deputy, but by far, the roles he took most seriously were his roles as husband and father.
If there’s one thing he’d known all his life, it was that he wanted to be a better father than he’d had.  He wanted to be present in his children’s lives.  He’d vowed never to abandon them.
And so it was the greatest regret of his life that he’d done just that mere minutes after his daughter was born.
Granted, he was forced into the action; it was necessary to protect Emma and give her her best chance.  Still, the shame and heartbreak of that decision had haunted him for the past twenty-nine years.
Surprisingly, during the first curse he’d felt it still, even if he hadn’t known what it was.  More often than he cared to recall, he’d had vague dreams of the black knights, of the wardrobe, of being ripped from someone vitally important to him.  The gloom and near despair of those dreams hung over him like a thundercloud. He’d woken feeling–knowing–that he wasn’t enough, that he’d failed at the most important task of his life.
Once he’d regained his memories and once he realized Emma was back in his life, he’d vowed to make up for lost time, to be the father she’d always needed, to protect her at all costs.
And so it was, when he sat at his kitchen table silently sipping his coffee and staring sightlessly out the window on the morning after the incident at the ice wall, he felt relief…but also helplessness.  He’d almost lost her.  Again.
Snow came up behind him, wrapped an arm around his shoulder and kissed his cheek before taking a seat next to him.
“That’s quite the bleak look on your face,” she whispered. Elsa was, after all, presumably still asleep behind the curtain they’d draped in front of the sofa to give her a bit of privacy. “Yesterday really shook you up, didn’t it?”
He blew out a long breath. “She came this close to freezing to death on my watch, Snow.”
She took his hand and squeezed it.  “But she didn’t.  From all I’ve heard, you were magnificent.  Took charge and found a way to save her.”
He chuckled humorlessly. “I was terrified, but Killian…Killian was, if anything, even worse.  Never seen a man so completely panicked.”
“He loves her,” she said simply, a radiant smile on her face. “I wouldn’t have believed it when we first met him in the Enchanted Forest, but he’s a good man, and he truly loves her.”
“Yeah, I’m starting to get that impression,” David agreed.  “Did you know I gave him that ‘What are your intentions with my daughter?’ speech yesterday before…well…everything?”
“Really?  What did he say?”
“First he gave me hell for being old-fashioned, and then he told me he wouldn’t risk his life for someone he considered loot.  And if there was still any doubt in my mind before the ice wall incident, his reaction removed it.  Whatever else I could say about him, I know he loves her.”
Snow sipped her coffee.  “Maybe you should tell him that.  Give him your blessing, if you will.”
David grimaced.  He may be–grudgingly–willing to admit it to his wife in the privacy of their own kitchen, but admitting it to Hook’s face…well, he wasn’t sure.  “Yeah, maybe when I see him again,” he hedged.
“Perfect,” Snow said.  “You’ll probably have the opportunity any minute, whenever Emma and Hook get up.”
“What?!”
“He stayed the night with her,” Snow said with a grin. “You didn’t know?”
As if to confirm Snow’s statements, Emma and Killian emerged together from the loft. David felt his innate protective dad instincts flared to life.  If Hook had taken advantage of Emma in her vulnerable post-nearly-freezing-to-death state…
“Remember what we just talked about.  He loves her,” Snow murmured only loud enough for him to hear.
David let out a long breath.  She was right.  Reacting badly now would likely only make things worse. “Fine,” he murmured back.
“Morning!” Snow called sunnily to the couple entering the kitchen, as well as Elsa who had just emerged from behind her curtain.  “Anyone want breakfast?”
“Thanks, but I’ve got to get to the station,” Emma said, “I’m sure the phones were blowing up last night with calls about the ice wall.”
“I also must decline,” Killian said, scratching behind his ear.  “I should…get back to Granny’s.”
“See you later for lunch?” Emma asked, looking up at Hook with an open–and what David thought was rather nauseatingly besotted–look.  At his answer in the affirmative, she headed out.
Snow nudged David, and he rolled his eyes.  No time like the present, he supposed.  “Let me give you a lift back to town, Hook,” he said, “I’m headed that direction anyway.”
Hook gave him a wary look, and for a moment, David hoped he was about to decline the offer.
No such luck.
“I’d appreciate it, mate.”
~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~
The first minute of their drive was passed in silence.  Killian side-eyed David uncomfortably, wondering when the questions–or probably more precisely, the accusations–would start.
His first inclination was to rile the man up further with sly grins and insinuations about what went on in the Charming’s loft the night before–after all his dashing rapscallion persona was a clock he’d worn as a shield for more years than he could count–but he quickly dismissed it.
This was Swan’s father.  If he truly wished to have a relationship with her–and he did; he wished for a relationship lasting roughly in the neighborhood of forever–it wouldn’t do to antagonize her father.  There was also the fact that he genuinely liked the man, and so…
“You know nothing…untoward…happened last night,” Killian said.
David glanced at him before turning back to the road with a grimace.  “Didn’t ask.  Don’t want to know.”
“Nevertheless,” Killian continued, “Your daughter and I certainly have more respect for you and Snow than to…engage in certain activities…underneath your very nose, not to mention the fact that her lad slept not ten feet from us.”
“Like I said, I didn’t ask,” David repeated, although Killian noted the way the other man’s face relaxed slightly at the reassurance.
“She was still cold,” Killian continued, somehow feeling the need to continue his justification.  “She asked for me to hold her, and I couldn’t refuse.  After coming so bloody close to losing her…”
David pulled into a parking spot in front of Granny’s but didn’t yet kill the engine.  The look he gave Killian this time was sympathetic, understanding. “Almost losing the woman you love does things to a man.”
“Aye,” Killian agreed.  “It was the same feeling of dread, of helplessness, as when the Crocodile crushed Milah’s heart in front of me.  If it had happened again….”
David placed a comforting hand on his shoulder.  “It didn’t,” he said firmly.  “I’ve been trying to remind myself of that all day.  It didn’t.  You didn’t lose your love and I didn’t lose my daughter.”
There was a long silence, in which Killian wondered if he ought to simply exit the vehicle.  He’d just reached for the door handle to do so when David spoke again, this time looking determinedly out the front window, rather than at him.
“There is….something I wanted to talk to you about.”
“Aye?”
“That conversation we started to have yesterday, right before everything went to hell…” he continued, “look, I think I was wrong to ever question your intentions.”
“There’s no need to–” Killian began.
“I think there is,” David replied, finally turning toward to him. “It’s been obvious for a while that you love Emma, and it’s not a love that’s going away anytime soon.”
“It’s not a love that’s going away ever,” Killian said firmly.
“Yeah, I’m inclined to believe that” David said. “Anyway, if there ever had been any question about your feelings and intentions, yesterday got rid of them.  I saw how willing you were to do anything to save her.  I supposed what I’m trying to say is…I apologize for ever doubting you.”
Killian’s eyes widened.  Of all the things he’d expected the prince to say to him “I apologize” was rather far down on the list. “Apology accepted, although it is wholly unnecessary.  As someone who does truly love her, I’m pleased she has a father who cares enough to be a touch over-protective.”
David gave a quick, decisive nod.  “I won’t be old fashioned enough to give you my blessing,” he said, “but…I won’t oppose your relationship.”
“That means a great deal to me,” Killian said, “and I know it would mean a lot to Swan as well.”
“Yeah, well,” David said, “just so we’re clear, if you ever hurt her, I’ll run you through with my sword.”
Killian nodded.  “Mate, if I ever hurt her, I’d let you do it with my own.”

Later that night, Emma was vegging on the couch when her dad finally made it home.  After tossing his jacket onto the coat rack, he joined her, gave her a quick hug and kissed the top of her head.  She was slowly but surely getting used to this casual affection from her parents, and it always gave her such a warm, fuzzy, loved feeling.
“Crazy day, huh?” he asked wryly.
Emma chuckled.  “I guess that depends on what you’re comparing it to.  For Storybrooke it was ho hum.”
It had certainly been a busy day.  As she’d expected, they’d had more calls than she could count about the ice wall and the snow monster–or whatever it had been–that had crashed through the town yesterday.  While she and her dad had both been working, they’d been so busy with calls and patrols, they’d barely had a chance to exchange a word all day.
“I guess you’re right about that,” David laughed.  “Any day that doesn’t involve a new villain, monster or crisis is a win around here.”
They lapsed into silence for several moments before Emma spoke again,  “Killian told me about your conversation this morning.”
David gave her a wary look.  “Before you say anything, I do know you’re a grown woman who can make her own decisions.”
She grinned.  “That’s what Killian said at lunch when I started ranting about you treating me like a teenager.  Nothing happened last night, by the way.”
“I know.  Killian told me.”
“Dad,” she said, and her heart turned over at the joy on his face at her use of the word.  “I just….I just want to thank you for, you know, caring and doing whatever you had to to save me.”
“No thanks necessary,” he said.  “You’re my daughter.  I’m always, always going to do everything in my power to help you, no matter the situation.”
She felt the tears come to her eyes.  “I think I’m finally starting to realize that.  Sorry it’s taken so long.  It’s just…I’m not used to having a dad, someone in my corner no matter what.”
Pain came into his eyes at that, and Emma realized how her words had come across. “I’m not blaming you,” she said quickly.  “I know you did what you had to to give me my best chance.”
“Still,” David said, “I wish more than anything that I’d been able to be the father you needed and deserved from the beginning.”
“I wish that too,” she murmured, almost under her breath, “but the past is the past.  You’re here now, and that means everything.”
“And I always will be,” David vowed with a decisive nod.
They lapsed into another silence, broken only by a few soft whimpers from baby Neal as Mary Margaret worked to put him down for the night–or at least as much of the night as he was willing to sleep at any one stretch.
“You know, I wasn’t the only one working frantically to save you last night,” David said slowly.
Emma felt her heart stutter and then soar as she thought of the man to whom her father was referring.  “I know.  Killian told me he’d been worried about me too.”
David blew out a long breath.  “Worried is an understatement.  He was absolutely frantic.  Emma, that man loves you.”
Emma felt the butterflies, that swooping half-excited, half-terrified feeling one gets when she falls head over heels.  She would have to be blind not to see that Killian had fallen in love with her, and she had the sneaking suspicion that somewhere along the way she’d fallen in love with him as well.  Was she ready to admit it?  She wasn’t sure.  That level of vulnerability was scary as hell.
“Yeah, maybe so,” she hedged, trying to make her voice as even as possible, “and I…I…appreciate it.”
David gave her a long look.  “Emma, I know it’s hard for you to trust.  I know it’s hard for you to let yourself believe, and I will have your back one hundred percent whatever you do, but for what it’s worth, I’d give him a chance if I were you.”
“So does that mean you think he’s good enough for me?” Emma teased, uncomfortably aware of the momentous nature of the topic at hand and feeling the need to lighten the mood..
David chuckled.  “You’re my daughter.  No one’s good enough for you, but I suppose if you have to be with someone, he’ll do.”

Re: Your strong feelings against Regina - I won't be hard pressed bc it won't change my opinion (sorry my love for her is too great) but I'm curious to read if you've rambled at all about why you dislike her so strongly?
LOLL i've done a few rambles over the years and i tend to hatepost whenever i rewatch clips but i don't think i've ever done like a full on explanation on why. and yes please feel free to love her! idc how anyone feels about a fictional character.
some stuff i do like about her: lana parilla is obv very talented and pretty, her and jmo have rlly good chemistry, sometimes her one liners are super funny ("the entire charming family and their pirate mascot" is fucking hilarious i wish she said more stuff like that).
but tldr—she did way too many bad things and never properly redeemed herself for them.
in the first two seasons she does, like, incredibly bad stuff LMAO, including but not limited to: ruining snow's life after killing her dad, killing entire villages, casting the curse and the subtle ways she tortures snow in it, abusing henry (who is in therapy because he's told he's "crazy" for saying that he's aging while everyone else stays the same age), sacrificing children to the blind witch, the entire situation with graham (that she never confesses to, emma never finds out), trying to poison emma after emma tells her she's already leaving because she couldn't stand emma being in henry's life at all, separating the mad hatter from his daughter in the curse even though the last time they saw each other the mad hatter helped her and she betrayed him+making him remember his real self for some extra bout of torture, kills a little boy's dad bc the dad didn't want to drop his entire life and move into town so that she could fulfill her sudden dreams of motherhood, then later taunts that boy when he's an adult about how she killed his dad.
and what happened to her with daniel and cora's abuse is definitely really bad, it just doesn't even come close to justifying any of this for me. she didn't need to marry snow's dad. she gets rid of cora and sends her to wonderland before she's married. she stays because she likes the feeling of magic and the idea of being queen (rumple is obviously a huge part of why she turned out the way she did, "hooking" her on a magic which ouat tries to compare to drug use, but the murderous intent was in her before she even met him).
and then her redemption. hooo boy. it starts in season 2, with her just deciding not to actively do harm because she wants henry to love her. not a bad start. then she tries to destroy the well that snow and emma want to come back from (to be fair, she does this to stop cora, but she knows emma and snow dying is a possibility and is very cool with this bc it'll make her henry's only mom). she then is upset that everyone in town isn't automatically cool with her, for some reason gets credit for "saving" snow and emma (from a trap! that she! set!), and when cora does come back, she teams up with her. like. the lady who actually killed daniel and ruined regina's life. that lady. teams up with her. stands by as her mother kills snow's nanny even though they already got what they wanted. and THEN she's angry that snow had the nerve to do to cora what regina's done to dozens of people and kill her.
and then for the rest of the show there's just no point where there's time for regina's redemption because they're always dealing with the next villain. peter pan, then zelana, then the snow queen, so on and so forth. at some point she's just decided to be redeemed and anyone who argues with that point either changes their mind or is portrayed by the narrative as a villain. some of her one liners that a lot of the fandom think are so cool make me beyond angry LMAO like she tells david "i will not be given parenting advice by a man who shipped his daughter off in a box" GIRL??? BECAUSE OF YOU??? the show continuously pushes the blame onto snow and david (but especially snow) for giving emma up as though they had a choice. regina knew about rumple's prophecy. she knew snow and charming's daughter would break the curse. she was not gonna let that baby live if snow and charming hadn't sent her away.
snow and charming and emma's characters are all completely turned into dust for her too. emma is forced to grovel because she brought back a woman from the past that regina wrongfully executed bc it happens to be maid marian. snow and charming do uncharacteristic "evil" things so that they can be like "see! they're all good and bad!" when even ooc snow and charming's worst doesn't compare to regina's best.

Here is a new press article, promoting "Rivals", in the next issue of the Hello ! Magazine, of October 14th.
Thanks to Emma Jones for the advanced news and for the written version of it.
Aidan Turner didn’t have to look far for someone to base his portrayal of moustachio’d talk-show host Declan O’Hara in Disney+’s steamy adaptation of Dame Jilly Cooper’s bonkbuster Rivals.
The Being Human actor, 41, looked to his dad as inspiration for his role in the 1980s-set raunchy romance, which follows the rivalry between notorious womaniser Rupert Campbell-Black - played by The Boys star Alex Hassell - and TV boss Lord Tony Baddingham, portrayed by David Tennant.
Aidan made his name in Poldark and fans of the period drama will recognise 16th-century manor Chavenage House, which doubles as the grand Cotswolds home of Declan, his flirtatious wife and their daughters. Aidan is also a father in real life - to a two-year-old with his wife, US actress Caitlin Fitzgerald, whom he met on the set of The Man Who Killed Hitler and Then the Bigfoot in 2018.
In Rivals, he stars alongside American actress Nafessa Williams, who made her name in the Twin Peaks reboot before playing singer Whitney Houston’s assistant Robyn Crawford in a 2022 biopic.
The 34-year-old makes her UK debut as Declan’s powerful producer Cameron Cook, and tells Hello! She based her character on growing up in 1980s Philadelphia and observing the strong women in her family.
What or who inspired your roles?
Aidan: I lightly based it on my dad, but the more I watched it, the more I thought: ’That’s my dad!’ The way he walked, his accent and energy. He’s not any angry man, not as angry as Declan, but he’ll come at you with a force. He had a moustache for 20 years and I loved having one for this part, too - it was weird to shave it off.”
Nafessa: My mom and grandma, I remember their red lips, their hairstyles and the fashion they wore, and had always want to emulate that. I was really young in the Eighties but loved watching them and how powerful and confident they were. There are also references from TV and music videos, Nasty Girl Vanity 6 is Cameron’s song. It helped me get into her confidence and sensuality.”
Aidan, how did it feel to shrug off the sex-symbol image to play a protective father?
It was lovely, it felt real, and I could relate to him. He’s a dad, I’m a dad - and he’s like my dad.”
And what about the steamy scenes… are you nervous about your family and friends watching them?
“That’s a question! I tend to never think about it until the moment you really have to and you’re sitting beside them. I think my family have seen my naked bum many times, so I don’t think this will be a big thing.”
N:”A tiny bit. I don’t know if they’ve seen me this much, in this way. I’m thinking about who’s going to be at the watch party, and who’s going to be watching it with me. I was nervous watching it myself!”
How did you feel about filming those scenes?
A: ‘It’s quite a vulnerable thing…But we’re all grown-ups and have done it before. The way to do it is just try to have as much fun as you can. It leads us down a creative path that’s fun because you can find different things to put into the whole mix of the dance.”
N: “It’s not the most comfortable thing to do but when you’re doing it with people who you feel comfortable with, that makes it better. Also, intimacy co- ordinators were there to make sure we were safe and protected and to answer any questions.
“It’s really a dance, it’s choreography. I don’t think people understand how technical it is. It’s really just us getting the job done at the end of the day and just making sure you’re as comfortable as you possibly can be. Everybody was very gentleman- like with me.”
Had you read Rivals?
A: “I’d read the script but not the book. But on the first day of shooting, when we all went to the trailers and there was a signed copy of the book on our chairs, that was a special moment so I got busy reading it then.”
Nafessa, what was it like coming across the pond to be in the show? “It was an honour, and I thank Disney and Jilly for letting me be part of it. There’s a lot of life imitating art. Cameron came from New York to be here, I came from Atlanta. So I understood her world and being new.
“When I read the script I thought: ‘She’s so strong and smart, and so firm in who she is.’ I felt she could hold her own among these strong, powerful men and was excited to give my voice to it. It was fun; everyone was so warm and welcoming, and H I learned a lot.”
INTERVIEW: NICKY MORRIS
Rivals will be available to stream on Disney+ from 18 October.

Hi! Firstly, I love your blog. Secondly, I just saw a take on Killian Jones that made me want to scream.
This person said that Killian as a villain worked but that his redemption arc didn't work at all. Their evidence being that it took too long?
They also said that he was glamorised and portrayed as a selfless hero. Admittedly, I haven't watched OUAT in a bit, but I'm fairly certain that Killian's past actions are not portrayed as good things to have done.
They also listed some of the bad things that were APPARENTLY portrayed as good things. Some of the things on this list were:
Killian being a pirate
Milah leaving Rumple for Killian (which they phrased as Killian "homewrecking" Milah's marriage)
Helping Milah abandon Baelfire (why do they think he could control that? I got the impression that Milah really just wanted an escape. I feel like she probably would have left with someone else if Killian hadn't accepted her coming with him)
Trying to goad Rumple into fighting him when Milah first left with Killian
The rings that he took from his victims (I always saw that as a reminder of something he regretted, not as a trophy?)
Killian killing his dad and leaving Liam 2 an orphan.
Having "raped multiple women". (Guess what their evidence was. For the last time people, the line about drinking with women usually being his tactic is NOT AN ADMISSION OF RAPE!!! If it was, Emma would NOT have dated him afterwards!)
Shooting Belle at the town line
Killing David's dad. (They claimed that this meant that Captain Swan was not a healthy relationship, which... what?) (They also said that David being picky about wedding venues was because of this, and I just do not understand their logic. If that was the reason, why was he only being weird about the venue, not the wedding as a whole?)
And this was only SOME of their nonsense claims. The rest were all along the same lines.
EVERY piece of evidence they had for him being glamourised was stuff that he did while a VILLAIN (I swear, some people don't know the meaning of that word), and was stuff that was acknowledged as things that he shouldn't have done.
At least this person acknowledged that Regina and Rumple were bad characters, though?
Sorry for the long ask, this just infuriated me to no end, and I wanted your opinion on it, because I love your blog.
Wait. Someone against Killian Jones actually said that his redemption “took too long”? Usually it’s “it happened too fast” or “he didn’t do anything!” So this is actually a new angle!
Are they upset that Killian never cried about his happy ending the way Regina did every single season? Cause the show made it quite obvious the only reason she was on team hero was for her happy ending. I always thought this was a good thing in Killian’s favor. He mentions his happy ending ONE TIME and it actually has more to do with him fearing something will happen to Emma because of him.
So here is a list of things that were supposedly... good?
Killian being a pirate
When does this person think Killian being a pirate was ever portrayed as something good? Because I can’t point to a single moment. I can point out instances that contradict this: Killian talking about his rings, the whole thing with David’s father, his regret over how he treated Ariel in S3, how he shies away from wanting to speak about Ursula in Season 4 because he knows what he did was bad, his interaction with David in S6 when David wants his help finding his father’s killer. All of these are painted as bad moments in his past and Killian is ASHAMED OF THEM.
Killian “home wrecker” Jones & goading Rumple into a fight
Yes, Killian holds some responsibility for destroying Milah & Rumple’s marriage and for Bae losing his mother but it isn’t solely his blame to shoulder. Milah and Rumple share the blame too. Milah more than anyone because she ultimately made the decision for herself to abandon her family. She was not kidnapped. She was not coerced. And it was definitely clear from before she even met Killian that she wanted out of her marriage to Rumple. So, yes, if not for Killian it would’ve been someone else.
Tumblr media
That being said, this was also never portrayed as anything good. There is a whole ass scene in S5 where Killian says outright that HE WAS THE VILLAIN IN THAT STORY! He even says that what he did to Rumple, the whole taunting him bit, was WRONG!
The Rings
The rings were a trophy at one point but Killian says that he wears them now as a reminder of what he was and that all sins can be forgiven when someone loves you. Sins are bad, right? Yes. Ok. Just checking!
When he speaks about what he did, his tone is one of sadness and regret. He isn’t happy about it. He isn’t boastful. "Every ring is a sad story," he says. Sad is also not good, right? Yes. Thought so.
Killian killing his dad and orphaning Liam 2
How was this portrayed as good? Liam 2 literally comes after him, twice. We see how much Killian’s actions damaged Liam 2. Killian also swore Regina to secrecy over it. Good things aren’t sworn into secrecy!
Tumblr media
Killian “raping multiple women”
Yeah this would have needed to actually be canon but it’s not it’s just a fanon opinion that relies on his haters inserting words into one line that he never said then IGNORING Emma’s non-reaction to this supposed admission.
Lemme just scratch this one off the list as "irrelevant"
Shooting Belle
This person is stupid. When was this portrayed as good? He was arrested for it! Belle calls him on it in Season 3! And he brings it up again in S6 because he still feels guilty over it!? These people make up bull shit all day long just to justify why their crack ships are better. It’s so stupid.
Killian killing David’s father
Does this person know what the word “good” means? I am beginning to think they also need a dictionary. Because Killian faced some immediate consequences after learning about what he did. Emma broke off their engagement and he was sucked into a portal.
I am not sure how this means the relationship is unhealthy. Every relationship has its struggles. We’re dealing with a 300 year old pirate with a dark past, here. Things are gonna be a little more extreme but this is a fictional story. What makes it healthy is that they work through it together and apologize.
When Snow accuses David of not wanting Emma to marry Hook, David literally says “no, this has nothing to do with Hook”. David being all negative about the venue was actually trauma caused by Regina! Because he says, and I quote, “The day I married you was the best day of my life… until the Evil Queen burst through those doors and threatened everyone we loved. Then it became one of the worst. I don't want that for Emma. When I walk her down the aisle, the only thing she should be thinking about is the wonderful years ahead, not Gideon or the Black Fairy, not any of it. With everything she's been through, the least we can do is give her a real wedding day.”
It's been a while since i watched the entire episode but I am 99% sure the wedding is momentarily postponed because of David's rant. It only goes forward when they think they've dealt with the Black Fairy.
Conclusion:
I reject the idea that any of Killian's crimes were portrayed as good. In my opinion, if characters are showing shame, regret and remorse over an action that usually means that action is bad. I am also of the opinion that if the characters face consequences or apologize that also means what they did was wrong and the action is being handled correctly in the story. Killian's story has all of these elements.
It's nice that they admit Regina and Rumple were bad characters but if they were truly unbiased they'd acknowledge that "bad actions or crimes being portrayed as good" is more a problem with Regina's story than Killian's. I mean. Come on. She was crowned the "good queen" over a kingdom she doesn't regret cursing, to whom she never apologizes to and she still has many of the citizen's hearts stored in her vault... her most heinous crimes (rape of Graham and Henry's abuse) go unacknowledged.
So Kilian's story is the least problematic here.
Thank you so much for the ask! I am so happy you enjoy the blog!

Get to Know: Leo
Tumblr media
I stole the character template used in this fic, because I thought it was really thorough, and a good exercise for character building. So thanks ao3 user StarkPark!

Is very much like his mother however, in his resourcefulness, hopefulness, and can-do attitude.
He is practical and resourceful, but can come across as stuck up or a goody two shoes. He’s the most responsible out of his friends, which leads to him both keeping them all safe, and hindering their adventures.
He’s the heir to the throne of Misthaven, and acts like it. He never lets himself stray from his golden boy persona, making certain that the student body, his friends, and even his family see him as infailable. Only in private does he let go of this persona, and becomes who he really is: an anxious wreck.

Update for the Week
We're gonna hit the pause on Mack and David for the rest of this week. Let people re-read or catch up on the first five parts. I have honestly loved the chaos we have gone through the last few weeks. Thank you all AGAIN for being so invested in their story.
Nico and Lexi's first meeting is coming on Wednesday afternoon! I am so smitten by Nico in this one. He is sooooo bumbling Nico. I think you will love it 😍
Our next flashback day is this THURSDAYYYYYYY! I'm excited! We have like 12 things in the drafts to discuss. Should be a fun night! Like I said a few weeks ago, it is heavy Timo and Emma, but we do have Lexi and Nico too.
Next week is American Thanksgiving and my dad is coming to visit, so expect for me to be relatively quiet that week.
THE FROST ARE COMING TO DENVER IN JANUARY!!!!!!!! I'M SO EXCITED!!!!!!

True Love
Part Three
Y/N POV
Regina walks out of the room so I followed her while Emma and Killian talked.
"Hey Regina you said you remembered me?"
"Yes I did. I wish I could tell you more but that's not my place."
"I remember everything Regina. It's Kill that doesn't remember anything. I need the pages so hopefully he can remember. Please don't say anything I don't want to hurt him or Emma."
"I promise I won't say anything at all."
I nod and walk back into the living room. Emma looks at me and I nod my head. Regina came back in and did the spell then called Gold over saying they need to talk about business. We left and walked back to town we watched Gold leave the shop we waited a minute before we walked over to the shop. Emma bent down and took out something and opened the door.
EMMA POV
We got into the shop and started looking around. We have about 30 minutes before Gold comes back. I seen something gold flicker out of the corner of my eye. I walked over to it and found two page! I was about to shout out when I noticed what the picture was. It was Y/N and Hook kissing. Then I read part of the other page. "After years of Y/N and Killian hiding there feelings they finally kissed. Killian pulls back and says I love you my Sparrow."
"Emma did you find anything?"
I quickly fold the papers up and shove them in my pocket.
"No I didn't find anything."
So what does this mean then. That Hook and Y/N was together. Can't just show them this that could cause damage for Hook. Who knows what it could do to Y/N. I need to talk Snow about this. I look at my watch and realize we need to go.
"Hey guys we got to go. I'm sorry Y/N."
I lock the door back as we walk out. Hook rubs Y/N shoulder and gives her a sad smile. She just shrug's her shoulders and walks away.
"I'm gonna go talk to Snow about Y/N see if she knows anything."
Then I just walk away. I reach the apartment and walk in. Snow and David are sitting at the table eating and talking.
"Do you guys know anything about Y/N?"
"I remember being invited to her wedding but we didn't go. I don't remember who she was getting married to. Why do you ask?"
"Well we went looking for her pages out of the story book and I found these."
I showed them the pages that I found.
"Oh my gosh she was with Hook? Emma you have to give this to her. She deserves to know about Hook's and hers past."
I nod my head. I just got Hook I can't lose him already. What if it was just a simple kiss and that's it.
Y/N POV
I shook my head and walked away. Killian came running after me and put his hand on my back.
"Luv why don't we go back to the Jolly Roger and you can tell me some more story's about the Black Pearl hmm?"
I smiled and nod my head. We walked in silence to the Jolly Roger. We finally reached the Jolly Roger and I smiled. This is where we said I do. Where we had our first dance. We had our first kiss. We walked up the plank and I just looked around and smiled.
"So tell me more about our time together."
"You use to love to tease me about my last name being Sparrow. You would always whistle to get my attention. But you would never let anyone pick on me. There was one time dad had me cleaning the decks and one of the guys on the ship started picking on me. Saying girlys like me don't belong on ships. You heard him picking on me. You ran over and pushed him and said you don't pick on my little sparrow. He just shook his head and walked away."
He looked at me and smiled almost like he remembered that. He picked up his hook and moved a piece of hair put of my face. I blushed and moved away. I don't know how he always manages to make me blush. I walked over to the edge of the deck and looked out. I felt the ocean air hit my face and I felt home.
HOOK POV
I feel fondness for Y/N and I can't explain why. I remember that day I ended up beating that dude up after she went to bed. Made sure no one treated her wrong. She was like a little sister to me.
"I remember that day. You was like a little sister to me."
She looked up at me sad but then she smiled and nodded her head. We just sat there and talked. I told her more about the curse and what I did during that time and how I came to Story Brook.
"Well its getting late Kill so I'm gonna start heading back to Granny's but it was nice catching up to you."
Then she walked off the boat. I just sat there thought about everything that's happened why can she remember some stuff but not remember everything else. Why would Gold hate the Sparrow family? I feel like there is more to this.

Once Upon A Time Rewatch: Season 3 Thoughts
This season was an excellent depiction of family cycles, intergenerational trauma and repair. That shit it home for real!
To start with, you have Emma, David and Mary Margaret struggling to connect because of how closed off Emma has become to protect herself. And of course all the pain she has around being abandoned in the first place. But David and Mary Margaret are so desperate for a relationship they sometimes come across pushy. It’s sooo cute how she starts to call them mom and dad by the end of the season 🥺
And whew Gold’s daddy issues totally explain why he is The Way he is. I can’t imagine looking my child in the eye and saying “[my baby was] helpless and all mine. Pulling away my name, my money, my time! Pulling away any hope of making better for myself. This pink, naked, squirming little larva that wanted to eat my dreams alive and never stop. What are you now, a couple hundred? Can’t I be free of you?” 😬😩😐 Real fucking harsh Pan.
And of course we have Zelena, whose desire to procure the life she never had eventually leads to her downfall. And yes her jealousy makes sense given that she grew up dirt poor whilst Regina trained to be an all powerful queen, but Zelena definitley romantissd Cora’s life. One could say she was looking at it with green coloured glasses 🤭. Her smoke should have been for Cora in my opinion! Fuck Gold for taking away Zelena’s second chance! 😡
Other miscellaneous thoughts on the season:
• I love how often Regina and Emma refer to Henry as “our son” it fills my little gay heart with joy. I swear to god they would have been the perfect slow burn enemies to friends to lovers story if Disney wasn’t so homophobic. Speaking of, I refuse to acknowledge the romances with Hook and Robin despite the actors’ on screen chemistry and relevance to the plot LOLOLOL!
• it’s bullshit that Mulan wasn’t with the merry men this season and they didn’t even address what happened. Hopefully Jamie Chung was offered a better role elsewhere and decided not to return (not holding my breath)
• we did get some additional Black people with lines on screen who live so that’s good. However I do think it’s sus the way Marian’a character is treated.
• I appreciate the theme of redemption and that you can alter your own destiny. Fate lies in the choices we make everyday.
I’m nearly halfway through season four so my astrology post on the main character’s big six is coming soon! Any thoughts on what my interpretations will look like? 👀

how would you torture killian psychology in the underworld?
Psychologically... Hades would make him think that he's talking to his actual family members or support system when in actuality, they're all illusions. The magic would read Killian's regrets or nightmares and filter them into illusions. Liam would be telling him how hurt he is that Killian became a pirate and never stopped becoming an alcoholic, how he disowns him as a brother bc he can't believe he failed as an older brother to guide Killian to the good side. Maybe to rub it in, illusion Liam might rub in that he's in the underworld bc he had regrets over leaving Killian alone after a stupid death by dreamshade, but after seeing the pathetic mess that Killian had become, he feels ashamed to have wasted his life trying and sacrificing so much for Killian when his little brother never amounted to much. Brennan wouldn't be winning dad of the year, but I expect his illusion to make Killian regret killing him by leaving Liam 2 behind as a fatherless orphan. I also want him to say that he "honestly, bc being dead gives him nothing left to lose" was so glad that that he left Killian behind bc his kid self was so needy for love and attention, another mouth to feed with the wars and taxes going on, but regrets not taking Liam with him.
If going onto David, it would be how he'd never accept Killian, no matter what he says, but only tolerates him bc he doesn't want to ruin his relationship with Emma.
Emma, well, she would go on about how upset she would be over Killian being weak to the darkness to how Killian never shares with her his past, despite them living together and prepared to be with one another for life. She'd say about how she'd let down her walls but he can't give her one small bit about his past, even though she's supposed to be the one he can share stuff with. Maybe there'd even be a hint of how Killian is too stubborn for her liking and has the loudest snoring, a turn off for her.
For the whumpy bits, maybe the illusions could be tortured versions of characters, whether physically shown or just audio of screams, whimpers, and cries of help being echoed throughout the chambers. Hades taunting that he could make it stop if Killian decides what to do next, aka get tortured instead of the loved one, giving Emma or someone else relief from the suffering for an hour or so. No one is truly getting hurt but Killian, yet Hades loves to see his defiant and strong acting side drop as he grits his teeth and agrees to the torture, Hades not giving in until Killian begs for the pain to begin.
Keeping Killian always walking on eggshells, unable to anticipate his next move. Despite being dead, Killian can feel every physical thing as if he were alive, being kept on the brink of exhaustion, sleep deprivation, hunger pangs galore, and being messed around with mind games and rounds of torture. His punishments for being boring or mini breaks from everything are always solitary in that open cell area. I want to say that his cell is always filled with audio playing of his worst moments that he regrets or Captain Silver shouting commands at him, taking him back to his fearful days as a kid, but knowing he can't do anything fulfilling the orders.
I don't have any more atm but what a great ask! Thanks for asking, Abby! XD

“Baelfire is Henry’s dad?!”
With Emma and Henry gone to Manhattan, Killian currently being M.I.A, and no apparent crisis on their hands, Mary Margaret and David had invited Max over to play board games to pass the time. They had been in the middle of an intense game of Ludo when Mary Margaret had gotten a call from Emma and excused herself. A couple minutes later, she’d come back with the shocking news that Rumpelstiltskin’s son was Henry’s father.
Mary Margaret nodded. “Yes.”
Max let out a really long sigh and leaned back in her chair. “Well, that complicates things.” She just sat there for a long time, thinking, as David and Mary Margaret continued to discuss it.
“So Rumpelstiltskin is Henry’s grandfather?”
“Apparently.”
“But I’m his grandfather.”
“You can have more than one.”
David stammered a little before sighing. “So, his step-grandmother is Regina. The Evil Queen.”
“Actually, his step-great-grandmother,” said Mary Margaret. “And she’s also his adoptive mother.”
David leaned back in his chair just like Max. “It’s a good thing we don’t have Thanksgiving in our land, cause that dinner would suck.”
Mary Margaret chuckled. “Or… maybe this will mellow everyone out!”
Max chuckled. Then, just as she’d quieted down, she started laughing again, and soon she was laughing so hard that the two adults were giving her matching concerned looks. “Can you…” she forced her laughter down so she could get her words out. “Can you imagine Gold’s reaction? Finding out that Emma’s had sex with his son?”
Mary Margret gasped. “Max.”
Max rolled her eyes. “Oh, come off it. I’m fourteen, not five. Also, what’d you expect? I was raised by Hook.”
“Yeah, great environment to raise a kid in,” mumbled David.
Max tossed him a glare that, ironically, was not well-suited for a child.
–––
It was a few hours later — during which the trio had eaten lunch and switched to playing Monopoly — that Mary Margret got another phone call from Emma. She seemed relieved at the excuse for a respite from the game, quickly excusing herself to the bedroom. Max couldn’t really blame her. She was pretty much the only one having fun at this point. She’d been in the lead the entire game and had watched as David grew more and more frustrated with how poorly he was doing. Mary Margret was doing way better, but she clearly wasn’t a fan of the competitive animosity this brought out of Max and her husband.
What neither of them knew, though, was that Max had been cheating the whole time by constantly grabbing way more money from the bank than she was supposed to.
When Mary Margret came back, Max got her answer to where Killian had disappeared to. He’d sailed the Jolly Roger to Manhattan to finally make his attempt on the Dark One’s life when he was no longer protected by magic. It had worked, and Rumpelstiltskin was currently dying of a magic poison.
Mary Margret had clearly been given the job to break the news to Max about how they’d been forced to leave Killian behind and steal his ship in order to save the Dark One’s life — which was apparently high priority all of a sudden; probably Baelfire’s doing — and Max was forced to reassure her several times that she understood. Which wasn’t a lie. Killian was unharmed except for a knock to the head, and finding his way from New York to Storybrooke would definitely be easier than his journey from the Enchanted Forest. That didn’t mean she had to like it, though.
But the good news, according to Mary Margret, was that this meant that Neal — which was apparently Baelfire’s new name — would be coming along and spending some time in Storybrooke. It seemed like, however this Rumpelstiltskin dying thing would work out, things were really falling into place for Henry.
“That’s great,” Max said, rolling the dice as an excuse for avoiding eye-contact and moving her piece, the thimble, forward two spaces.
Henry had always been everything she had loved about the land. He was welcoming and cozy and grounded. He was a place where one could find shelter. Find a home. She envied his roots. His large family tree.
Max was nothing like that. She was merely a length of seaweed, at the mercy of the tides and of fate, being tossed around from place to place, with no power to change her future. Even when she was launched into a place she actually liked, she knew it would be torn away from her, eventually. That was just how it was.
A sad smile pulled on her lips, trying not to let the bitterness show as she said, “...Henry’s getting a dad.”
David and Mary Margaret froze at that, exchanging looks of concern, and for the first time, David seriously considered how little he knew about Max’s upbringing. The only information he had was that she lived at Storybrooke orphanage, that no one had come to claim her after the curse was broken, and that, somehow, during her entire life, the closest thing Max had found to family was Captain Hook. Which somehow, despite it all, made some sense.
Despite his hatred for the man, David couldn’t deny just how well he and Max… fit together. They matched. You could tell they were family just by looking at them. Whether it was the black leather, their easy banter, matching smirks, or just that very pirate-like tendency for mischief and rule-breaking that Max had always possessed. They were a set — just as much as him and Mary Margaret.
There was just one thing he didn’t understand.
“Why do you trust Hook so much?” he asked, hoping he wasn’t stepping over a line.
Max studied him with a little surprise and some apprehension. “Because he saved my life,” she said simply. “At great risk of his own. And not just stopping me from falling off a cliff or saving me from an attack, anyone could’ve done that. No, he saved my soul. I wouldn’t be here without him.”
There was a finality to her last sentence that told David and Mary Margaret not to push her further on the subject.
–––
Max hung back by David’s truck as he and Mary Margret rushed towards the docs, David helping Neal with a limping Rumpelstiltskin while Mary Margret checked up on Emma. Henry followed the three men as they made their way towards the car, exchanging words that Max couldn’t hear. She tried swallowing down the lump in her throat, eyes fixed on Neal the whole time.
Soon, Henry spotted her and his face lit up. “Max!” he shouted, running up and wrapping his arms around her in a tight hug which Max feverishly returned, though she didn’t remove her gaze from his father.
Neal’s eyebrows had furrowed the slightest bit when Henry had shouted her name, and when he’d helped Rumpelstiltskin gain purchase on the truck, his eyes landed on her and widened, mouth falling open.
Max pretended not to notice this, instead extending her hand for him to shake.
“Hi, I’m Max. It’s nice to meet you.”
Neal shook himself out of his shock, clearing his throat and taking Max’s hand.
“It’s nice to meet you too,” he mumbled.
“Max is my best friend!” Henry clarified.
Neal raised his eyebrow. “Oh, is she now?”
Max gave him a tightlipped smile, nodding once.
“Okay, kid,” Emma saved the situation by stepping up behind Neal. “Time for Max to take you home.”
Max was relieved at finally having something to do as she went to pick up the bike Mary Margaret had lent her from the back of the truck, though she could feel Neal’s eyes on her the entire time.
“Come on, kiddo,” she said to Henry as she put the bike down and got on it.
Henry mistook Neal’s weird behavior for concern, saying, “Don’t worry,” as he seated himself on the luggage carrier and held onto Max’s waist, “I’ll be safe with Max.”
“Uh, okay,” his dad said.
Max tried her best to give him a reassuring nod before she rode away back to the apartment, hoping this new development wouldn't make her tenuous structure of white lies fall apart.
