For the ask game, Obitine regency era AU? Pretty please?
THIS WAS REALLY FUN and perfect timing cause I just rewatched Pride and Prejudice:
“It’s a fact universally acknowledged,” Anakin said, “that an Obi-Wan in the same room as Satine Kryze will be in want of a fight. And he’ll get one.”
Giving his brother an annoyed look as they got out of their carriage, Obi-Wan said, “I can hear you, Anakin.”
“I’m just explaining the way this party will go to Ahsoka,” Anakin said with an impressively innocent look on his face as he turned to Ahsoka. They’d taken the girl in a few months earlier, and she was quickly becoming a part of the family.
“See, Obi-Wan and Satine were engaged,” he explained to the enraptured teenager. “Long time ago. But they split up for reasons that Obi-Wan refuses to explain to me, and now they hate each other.”
“We do not hate each other,” Obi-Wan said exasperatedly, leading the way up to the front door and questioning his decision to accept the invitation to the Organa’s ball. But without it, Anakin wouldn’t be able to see his fiancee again before he left for active duty, and he wasn’t about to deprive his brother of that. Even if he technically wasn’t supposed to be engaged.
“We simply differ on a few details,” he continued, handing his coat off to a servant with a polite nod. Anakin and Ahsoka did the same, the girl brushing wrinkles off of her pale blue dress. “Like the war, and politics.”
Nodding, Anakin said, “And every topic you’ve ever discussed.”
Sighing, Obi-Wan said, “Oh, look, there’s Lady Amidala.”
Anakin brightened, his gaze immediately locking onto Padme. The woman was talking to Organa, but her eyes flickered to Anakin, and a small smile crossed her face.
“Uh—” Anakin said, glancing at Obi-Wan.
Waving his hand, Obi-Wan said, “Let’s just pretend like you gave me a proper excuse and let you go.”
“Sounds good.”
As Anakin moved at a just appropriate speed toward his intended, Ahsoka said thoughtfully, “So, are you still in love with Satine?”
Obi-Wan’s eyebrow shot up. “That’s a rather impertinent question.”
Shrugging, Ahsoka said, “That’s not an answer.”
Obi-Wan sighed, gazing across the ballroom. A flash of teal caught his eye, and suddenly he was looking right into Duchess Satine Kryze’s eyes.
She wore a teal gown, her blonde hair done up elegantly. She looked beautiful, which was hardly worth mentioning. She was always beautiful. But his heart still skipped a beat at the sight.
“Never mind,” Ahsoka said, and Obi-Wan could hear her grin. “I think I have my answer.”As she strolled away, and Satine approached, Obi-Wan thought, I really am letting that girl spend too much time with Anakin.

if you're taking the reverse trope writing prompts - strangers to enemies plz?
Hi anon! Here you go!
REVERSE TROPE WRITING PROMPTS
Strangers to enemies
This is an AU where Anakin goes to rescue Satine instead of Obi-Wan. If you wanna know more of how that happened, I would love to answer it!
Disclaimer: I don't recall if Anakin and Maul met during TCW but in this AU they haven't, enjoy!
“You are not Kenobi…” Anakin glared at Maul sitting on the Mandalorian throne. Around them, most Death Watch members that had been standing guard were knocked out, some even dead after trying to stop Anakin from confronting the Sith.
Kneeling next to the throne, the duchess, her hair in disarray, probably from being thrown into prison and her escape attempt, her outfit, once elegant and regal, dirty and thorn at the hem of her dress. She had dark bags under her eyes, her appearance gaunt compared to the last time Anakin had seen her.
“Release the duchess, Sith,” Anakin spit out, lightsaber humming at his side. From Maul’s other side, Savage took a step forward, his own lightsaber ready but the blade shed. Maul raised a hand and his brother stopped.
Maul’s bloodshot eyes evaluated Anakin, from the stolen Mandalorian armour to his lightsaber to his face. “I remember you.” He hissed. “You were but a nasty, little pest, following that Jedi.” Anakin only braced himself. “Should have run you over when I had the chance.” He moved his hand, pointing two fingers at Anakin.  Savage immediately thrust himself against Anakin, who crouched down to avoid the massive Zabrak before swiftly kicking back, managing to land it on Savage’s back and make him stumble.
He jumped forwards, swinging his lightsaber towards Maul, who swiftly avoided it and turned on the black saber. But Anakin had successfully put himself where he wanted, between the Sith and the duchess. Maul measured him, giving Savage enough time to recover and turn around.  As both Sith readied to charge forwards, Anakin changed the lightsaber to his other hand and quickly grabbed the duchess by the waist. Without wasting any minute, he ran towards the closest picture window and kicked the glass, jumping to the city below.  He readjusted himself and the duchess and turned his head towards the broken glass, where both Sith seethed as he fell. “Master Kenobi sends his regards!” He taunted, as the Sith finally left his sight and he focused on slowing down their fall into the underbelly of Sundari, Maul’s furious roar vaguely reaching their ears.
Thank you for asking!

I have read a very unique theories that the actual child of Satine and Obi is Bo-Katan and not Korkie! That is why Obi didn’t know a thing about a “sister” and the fact that Bo is way younger than Satine.
What do you think about it?
Hi, piccola! Thanks for asking! Unfortunately, I fear I will make you regret it because I can offer no encouragement or enjoyment of this theory. In fact, I think it's a load of poodoo.
Ironically, you may have originally heard of the theory from me. I made a post that did some good numbers on Twitter and tumblr, but it was meant sarcastically, and I'll explain why.
Tumblr media
The only reason it exists is that Jon Favreau decided The Mandalorian would be set all the way in 9/10 ABY. Season 1 premiered and then Katee Sackhoff gave Dave Filoni the idea to include her as live-action Bo-Katan in Season 2. Katee (starting in her early 30s) voiced Bo-Katan in TCW. When she first appeared, the story was in the year 20 BBY. That means there are 30 years in between her first appearance in The Clone Wars and her first appearance in The Mandalorian.
I understand why you said, "Bo is way younger than Satine." Katee actually said the same thing. She's the one who estimated that Bo is about "47 to 51" (like I wrote in that Twitter post). But that's not how Bo-Katan was designed. Dave Filoni designed Bo and Satine to be twins or very close to twins. In 2013, Filoni made several comments about how in his mind, something formative happened in Bo and Satine's backstories when they were both six years old.
So if they're twins, how old are the Kryze sisters?
Obi-Wan Kenobi is 38 years old at the end of The Clone Wars. Satine is close to his age because we know that they fell in love while they were on the run for a year. Thus Bo must also be in her mid-late 30s in TCW. And that's how it was *always* presented ... until The Mandalorian (In Rebels they added prominent forehead wrinkles to her design in the assumption that she was in her 50s, and that's only set in 1 BBY).
Plus, it also makes zero sense because if Satine is in her late 30s and Bo-Katan is 20 years younger (to make the Bo-Katan Kenobi theory possible), then this line is pretty dumb.
Tumblr media
"There was a time when we weren't enemies. Remember when I was 30 and you were 10?"
Silly.
There are other reasons why the Young Bo theory falls apart, like the fact that Satine's father is killed before she meets Obi-Wan, but in The Mandalorian, Bo-Katan recalls that her father was with her when she swore the Creed. So she can't actually be that much younger than Satine. There is simply no way that she is not at least 60 years old in The Mandalorian, and given that I subscribe to the Kryze Twins assumption, I lean more toward her being about 68 or so.
All that is to say that I definitely don't subscribe to either the Young Bo theory or the Bo-Katan Kenobi theory and truly wish that there were no basis for either one, even if that means wishing Katee (who's awesome) never showed up as Bo (who's awesome) in The Mandalorian.
And it really makes me sad that in the name of justifying having Katee play her character 30 years into the future (and erasing all mention of Satine), they have now implicitly deprived Satine of having her sister in her life in all her years growing up. Satine is a character who already has so few canon relationships, and they removed her only living family member from her generation. It just makes me sad on Satine's behalf and Bo-Katan's behalf as well.

Yes, yes, it's the "unpopular opinion" section again. This time we'll be talking about a character called Satine Kryze and her views and politics accordingly (and her sister, Bo Katan, will also be touched upon a little)
(sigh) where to even begin..? you know what, I won't... she's just awful. Seriously, in her selfishness and hypocritical stubbornness, she's the "illegitimate child" of Star Butterfly from "Star vs. the Forces of Evil" and Rose Quartz from the "Stevin Universe". The worst character in the already mediocre TCW. Unreal crap...
Okay, I'm kidding, of course I'll write everything out in detail. Let's start from the very beginning. As I already said in my post about Ahsoka, the problem with all of Filoni's "strong female characters" is that they are smug boors. Of all of them, Satine is the worst of the worst, since she takes it to such an absolute... She is rude, self-confident, treats almost everyone as if everyone around her owes her, has the audacity to be rude to everyone around her (including Obi-Wan, whom she supposedly "loves", although this is more of a limerence, nothing more) and absolutely does not understand the word "no". Until her death, she denied her mistakes and looked for excuses for her problems, not admitting them properly, blaming anyone but herself.
On the one hand, it seemed like her mission was quite noble - to improve the reputation of the Mandalorians in the galaxy and stop the fratricidal war. But the way she did it... In essence, she abolished the entire culture of the people, right down to the language, which is the basis of any culture as such, abandoned the army altogether and turned Mandalore into a "banana republic" of the Republic, which, by the way, was to blame for the beginning of the civil wars on Mandalore. This is not some kind of idealistic pacifism, this is called collaborationism ... she also abnormally ignores the threat of the Death Watch, which terrorizes her people and introduces only a useless police, and if they are caught, then only exiled (and when she says "warriors", it is not only terrorists who are exiled, but also those who simply did not want to give up their weapons). You have terrorists operating in your country! Stop pressuring ordinary Mandalorians who simply love their culture and own weapons, but are not radicals and do not dream of a Mandalorian empire. Finally create a counter-terrorism unit and kill off the entire Death Watch, like Russia in the 2000s cleaned out all the Ichkerians who were guilty of the deaths of a bunch of innocent people. But Satine doesn't really need this, she doesn't care about her people, she is only interested in her ego and only her position in power (you will understand why later).
Let's continue about the "banana republic" in terms of its role in the Republic and the galaxy. Satine created a reputation for Mandalore as pathetic, defenseless creatures who would not really resist if attacked. And I will remind you that the world of the Far, Far Away Galaxy is not a "world of pink ponies". The story from the first episode with Naboo proves that if some cartel makes an army of even the cheapest droids, then they will enslave a planet that does not have its own army in literally a day (Naboo was just lucky that they had Gungans for maneuver). And considering how many criminal syndicates there are in the galaxy, Mandalore, which by the way is located at a strategically important point, becomes a tasty morsel for attack. Even if the planet is a desert, there are the same people who are a very valuable commodity for slave traders. Well, okay, let's say there is the same Alderaan as an example of a prosperous peaceful planet. But it was in the Republic and on its side until its transformation into the Empire and did not refuse the help and protection of the Republic. I'm sure Satine did the same, right?) Right? ... Of course not! She is so special and Mandalore is actually independent and does not owe anything to anyone (although this is more about Satine herself). She declares neutrality during the war in the galaxy, while on her planet there are terrorists, from whom she was never able to get rid of DURING 20 YEARS OF HER REIGN! And the same Palpatine, oddly enough, said ... the right things about the fact that they say "you have problems on Mandalore, let the Republic help." But Satine can't openly admit her problem, otherwise it will hit her ego, and she brazenly lies that everything is fine with them and they will cope with everything themselves, and the Republic is "violating the "freedom" of Mandalore", which leads to the next point...
After Satine's idiotic decision to actually secede from the Republic, "sanctions" are imposed by the latter, as a result of which supplies to Mandalore are disrupted, which is why EVEN the children of the nobility began to starve, but when the parody of Padme (I can't call her anything else in this cartoon. Of all the characters from the prequels, she was disfigured the most) flies in to help, although she is not obliged to do this, Satine once again smugly insults Padme by saying that it is the Republic that is to blame for everything. Not she herself, but the republic, which she refused cooperation from her planet, yeahhhhh!.... Also, despite the so-called famine, it is not clear that Satine herself is not clearly in poverty, actually arranging a "Feast during the Plague", arranging a banquet with food for Padme surrounded by expensive art objects, which shows how she is cut off from her people, whom she supposedly protects so much according to Gilroy, in general... If the scriptwriters wanted to show how she loves her people, then they could have shown how she, on the contrary, refuses a banquet in connection with solidarity with the population, and they could also have shown how she is trying to sell art objects to get money for her population. As King Julian from the animated series "The Penguins of Madagascar" said: "To be a monarch is to sacrifice for the people" (although he used it not quite correctly there 😁). But we have what we have. Moreover, Prime Minister Almek, who, although he established supplies through the black market, did at least something and also received money from the black market under the pretext of building a new hospital, is portrayed by Satine as a corrupt official, although, unlike Satine, we were not shown his countless wealth. Yes, of course, he wanted to torture children and almost killed Satine, but he is not being jailed for this at all, but for alleged corruption. Of course, then it will look less selfish for Satin's reputation 😒💅
before the culmination of her reign, I would like to add one more point to her hypocrisy. She scolds the Jedi for having weapons, but she does not deny herself and her "party" with personal security weapons (and ordinary people apparently do not deserve protection). But at the same time, the Jedi are bad, although they mainly use weapons for protection and, in fact, they had no choice and had to become generals, although they tried with all their might to avoid it, and she "stands on a light background and all in white, which means she is good 👌". However, despite her dissatisfaction with both the Jedi and the Republic and believes that she owes them nothing, for some reason she is not embarrassed to ask them for help. "She gets everything, and others get nothing." She settled in comfortably, nothing to say...
And so, after all the mischief that Satine has caused on Mandalore, leaving the planet absolutely defenseless from external and internal threats, falling out with almost everyone because of her personal egocentric concept of pacifism, and depriving Mandalore of any supplies, the culmination of her reign occurs. Death Watch stages an attack on Mandalore by criminal gangs. People are terrified and panicked, asking Satine for help. What does our dear and beloved pacifist suggest? Basically, just endure the words "they are ONLY bandits." So what if they rob. So what if they maim or kill. So what if they sell her into slavery... it won't affect her... After which Death Watch itself appears, saying the right things about how Satine's policy is truly idiotic and has made Mandalore defenseless and flawed. And Satine has nothing to say to that. All she can do is hiss angrily that they set it all up (although she can't know that a priori). She really has nothing to say, while Death Watch saves people. It even seems to me that people already knew that it was a setup, but they were so fed up with Satine that they accepted Death Watch as a government. And by the way, both Death Watch and almost ALL the people of Mandalore who followed the watch have reasons to be angry at Satine and the "new Mandalorians"... it's spineless and toothless politics, in addition to the destruction of culture, that brought them to this, after which the people essentially recognize Pre Vizla as a new government. They weren't forced at gunpoint, they themselves chose Death Watch, essentially democratically.
And so, finally, Satine was thrown into prison. On her side, essentially only her relatives remained. More on this in detail. Pre Vizla is killed by Darth Maul and Maul becomes the new LEGITIMATE ruler of Mandalore, which is recognized by Vizla himself and almost the entire rest of the Death Watch. Only Bo Katan and her lackeys disagree with this, who for some reason suddenly forgot about their traditions, to which they were supposedly so faithful and eventually escape. She and her nephew free Satine, who, by the way, is no longer against the fact that the guard of her cell was supposedly killed and that she is escaping and is ready to call the Republic for help in overthrowing the LEGITIMATELY ELECTED RULER, which essentially means that she is no longer against a civil war on the planet, which she so allegedly wanted to avoid. As I already said, she doesn’t really care about Mandalore or people. Her pacifism and devotion to it disappears when it comes to her personally. Just like Ahsoka, who is only good when she is in control of the situation, Satine is a pacifist when she is the ruler. And the people are no longer "the same" for her, since they did not choose her as the ruler. If she were a real pacifist and cared about her people, she would have refused to call the Republic and especially to run away in order to prevent a new fratricidal war... By the way, this is indicated by her obvious lie in the message to Obi-Wan "my people were destroyed"
I will give examples from our world about how pacifism could look normal on Mandalore, so that it could afford to refuse help from the Republic. There is such a country in Eastern Europe, the Republic of Belarus. A country with a very difficult past, having survived a civil war and the Second World War in the 20th century. But at the same time, the Belarusians themselves are pacifists, even their anthem begins like this: "We, Belarusians, are peaceful people." However, they have their own army for self-defense, and recently they also received self-defense from Russia in the form of nuclear weapons. This country can afford pacifism. "If you want peace, prepare for war," this is what you can say about viable pacifism. And if the creators wanted to portray Satine as a good ruler who was unjustly overthrown, then her pacifism should have been exactly like that, and she herself would have been overthrown through an "orange revolution" through a SPECIALLY TUNED PART of the population. (Although, who am I kidding. Such a low that they would never show in an American cartoon😒)
I will also give an example from our world of a person who did not agree with the new government of his country, but refused to kill his people after the change of power. During the civil war in Russia there were two main sides - the Whites (monarchists) and the Reds (communists). As we all know, the Reds won in the end. And during the civil war there was a White General - Anton Denikin. After the revolution, he fled to France. And so, France was occupied by the Third Reich, and Denikin was offered to become the leader of the Russian collaborators who would fight on the side of the Reich against the Soviet Union (Vlasov eventually became their leader). And he voluntarily refused this, saying that he would not kill his people, even if he did not agree with their government. Denikin really loved his people. But Satine did not, she is essentially not against a new civil war....
To sum it up: Satine is neither a good ruler nor a good person. She is not Mahatma Gandhi, as Gilroy calls her. In terms of real-world rulers, she is rather something between Nicholas II (the last emperor of the Russian Empire) and Reza Pahlavi (the last Shah of Iran). Only if those two at least loved their loved ones, then Satine is terrible even in this. She regularly insults Obi-Wan and his essence of a Jedi, treats him almost like the lowest servant, although it is stated on the same Wookieepedia that she supposedly respects his essence of being a Jedi (another wishful thinking on the part of Filoni's audience), but at the same time, if she is in danger, then "oh, Obi-Wan, save me." Yes, even dying, her confession does not look like a way to say "goodbye", but like some kind of selfish attempt to make others remember her through pain, since in the cartoon she had already confessed her love... Yes, this is the most disgusting "love" story that I can remember, on par with the relationship between Sakura and Sasuke from the anime "Naruto" (both there and there it is not love, but limerence). And if we consider Obi-Wan and his development simply through the fact that he supposedly loved her without taking into account her character and all that (although this is more likely an attachment without love), then everything is bad here even from the point of view of the mythological path of Joseph Campbell, since the show simply deprives the characters of the choice that is so important in mythology. He did not "let go of Satine and became a proper Jedi", as all sorts of people write. If he had let her go, he would have taken responsibility for going after her (which he clearly did not do) since he was not punished for violating the order, and would not have looked for any excuses in the spirit of "centuries-old treaties between the Republic and the Mandalore" and would not have justified himself later about his duty and the council's disapproval, although it is a simple fear of responsibility and meeting Darth Maul in connection with his attachment that makes the character not strong, but cowardly and weak... and don't write an excuse about "blind revenge". In the case of the same Qui Gon, it was righteous anger, especially since Maul is a Sith, whom the Jedi MUST destroy and the laws of the Republic do not prevent them from doing so (Anakin had blind revenge when he killed not only those Tuskens who killed his mother, but also innocent women and children. That's blind revenge). The writers could have even done a whole arc of correction so that the character didn't seem cowardly, but what do you expect from a mediocre children's cartoon that didn't understand the prequels at all? And even in front of Anakin, he didn’t admit his affection in any way, although judging by TCW, he knew about Anakin and Padme’s relationship and therefore didn’t help in any way(only hypocritically dropping "I had feelings for Satine" (although, as I wrote in one of my posts, the joke of why Anakin went to Yoda for advice in the third episode was that he knew that Obi-Wan did not have the same thing that Anakin had with Padme. Another disregard for the prequels from Filoni, "thank you").So this is precisely cowardice. In essence, "White Darth Vader". Such an Obi-Wan would never have taken Anakin as an apprentice...
The funniest thing is that the same Padme in the first episode, where she is 14 and clearly has not ruled for long, is much more mature and cares about her people and without any "tragic backstories🤤", unlike Satine, who miraculously ruled for 20 years and who should have already taken off her rose-colored glasses during this time.... Although, in TCW, Padme was also quite disfigured, but that's a separate conversation... in short, to be continued

Hi MB!
I hope you had a wonderful May 4th!!
I’ve just recently gotten into StarsWars (specifically the clone wars) and have discovered Obi Wan and Satine. Are you a big fan of them?
Is Satine only in the clone wars or are there also books that she is in? And what are your favorite Obi wan books?
If you do ship them are there any fics that you have read that you recommend?
I consulted @melting-houses-of-gold for this list, anon- anyone looking for a SW fanfic rec should ABSOLUTELY hit her up (AND FOLLOW HER), she is a compendium of knowledge!
Had You Said The Word by @velidewrites:
*crawls out of delusion box* But what if Satine DIDN'T die?
OR
TCW Season 5 Episode 16 reimagined to spare our feelings and simp for Dark Side!Obi Wan.
a map toward honor by @/galateagalvanized:
"Wait, I’m sorry, Satine, did you—did you steal two million clones?”
“‘Steal’, Obi-Wan? You can’t steal free-willed people." Satine laughs. "No, my dear. Kal sent me the access codes for every landing pad, door, and defense network the Kaminoans had, and we shut it all down. I don’t think even their automatic toilets were working by the time we walked through their front doors. After that, well. We had a nice chat with the clones, and we killed every single Kaminoan that tried to stop any of us from walking back out.”
Or: Satine steals some clones, steals a Jedi, and saves the universe. This is the way.
Morning Star by @/kurenaino: this is a series, so check out each work for the summary
The Jedi And His Duchess by @/sulis57:
Satine Kryze is a pacifist because of the Mandalorian civil war. But the idea first takes root in her mind after watching something terrible happen to Obi-Wan Kenobi.
The story of how Obi-Wan and Satine fell in love when they were young, and how their feelings reemerged when they reconnected during the Clone Wars.
Told in dual timelines. Graphic Violence. Takes place pre Phantom Menace/post Clone Wars episode Duchess of Mandalore.
“Calm yourself, young one.” Qui-Gon’s large hands stroked her cheekbones. “Where is Obi-Wan?”
She stared at him with wild eyes, tears still running down her face. “They took him.”
Qui-Gon’s look changed instantly, his features fell as fear gripped his heart. “Where?”
“Down the mountain, by the river.”
“Who was it?”
“Five bounty hunters. Obi-Wan could sense them coming. He told me to run.” Her chin began to tremble. “But I heard him scream so I went back.”
Only Hope by @/tessiete: Another series, again check out the individual summaries!
She Said The Word by @/the_obiwan_for_me:
In one universe, Jedi padawan Obi-Wan Kenobi is not asked to stay by the love of his life, Duchess Satine Kryze. We all know how that story goes.
In another, she said the word.
How is the galaxy effected when the great Jedi Master Obi-Wan Kenobi never existed?
What does a galaxy torn to pieces look like with family man/consort to the Mandalorian Duchess Obi-Wan Kenobi in it?

Hello, I'm watching the clone wars again. and it had not caught my attention satine kryze until now, could you explain to me about his personality and character. Thank you for reading
Hi there!
Factually, Satine Kryze is the Duchess of Mandalore, and she is a pacifist, representing the New Mandalorians who have turned from the violent ways of their past. Without bias, it's pretty safe to say that she has a relatively high approval rating among her people, and she has done some incredible work rebuilding Mandalore following years of civil war among her people. Famously, Satine does not align Mandalore with the Republic or the Separatists in the Clone Wars, and instead, forms the Council of Neutral Systems, for other leaders who also eschew taking sides in the conflict. She is the daughter of a warlord (Duke Adonai Kryze, though other than his name, we know little of), and she has a sister, Bo-Katan Kryze, and a nephew, Korkie Kryze.
There are lots of little crumbs of information that Dave Filoni, Pablo Hidalgo, and one or two others involved in the making of "The Clone Wars" have dropped over the years in regards to things such as the age difference between Satine and Bo-Katan, and if there is another Kryze sibling to explain the nephew (who, it has been confirmed, is not Bo-Katan's child), but basically, nothing is established as canon, so we're all out there theorizing our asses off. :)
Also, when she was younger, she was put in the protection of Jedi Master Qui-Gon Jinn and his padawan, Obi-Wan Kenobi, for a year. During this time, she and Obi-Wan fell in love, but they went their separate ways, choosing Mandalore and the Jedi Order over each other. (It's canon that she nicknamed him "Ben." Also, a big fan theory is that Korkie Kryze is actually Obi-Wan's son, but it's not canon, so.. *shrugs*)
All this being said, Satine's fascinating. She's haughty, she's ill-tempered, she's snippy, but she's also compassionate and she's scrappy. She loves Mandalore fiercely, enough to take principled stances that make her unpopular with the rest of the galaxy, and she shows mercy to even domestic terrorists who bomb her city.
In my humble opinion, she is a vastly complex character that deserves so much more exploration, but because there's very little about her in canon aside from her episodes in TCW and a few small mentions in books, most of what you'll find is fandom content.
But those who love her love her dearly, and those who hate her really fucking hate her, and you'll find most people feel strongly one way or the other.
Thanks for the ask and I hope this helps! If not, or if you have anything further, don't hesitate to reach out! I'm happy to answer/help/guide you in the right direction! :)

Just ran into your blog for the first time after seeing the ask you answered with Padme's outfits, and you are amazing. You know those sugar cookies where people go all out and draw stuff on them with frosting. You know the vibe you get when you enter a kitchen that's been recently doing that? It feels like that. Cozy, but not in a sleeping-in way, but cozy in an "I'm 8 and I spent the last 8 hours playing out in the summer sun with my friends and now we're inside and our parents made cookies and we're playing with dolls on the floor of my childhood living room while the grownups are talking in the dining room and nothing bad has happened to me yet" way. Does that make sense?
ANYWAY, the question I had for you is are you thinking about doing outfits for those in TCW? I've seen you do Rex, but I'm wondering if you've been planning on drawing other characters because, if I'm not mistaken, Satine Kryze is the only Star Wars character based on a real-world leader. I wonder how someone based on the Elizabethan era would look in you're art style, since one can clearly see the Queen Elizabeth references in the last two outfits Satine wore in the Lawless arc (especially the dress version before she was imprisoned)
Love your art style XOXO
First of all, wow idk what to say, thank you so much! 💕😭
Also, thanks for bringing Satine to my attention, because I hadn't considered her! Ugh, now I wanna draw something with her and Obi-Wan!!!
And she would have Galadriel vibes FOR SURE.

The choice to make Lizzo a Duchess of an independent outer rim planet that she’s successfully worked to reform after a war by introducing democracy, society, and art as opposed to violence. Bringing her home into a new age of prosperity and development. But in doing so her planet’s own military and policing system was significantly weakened and weapons were not allowed within its domed city walls. Where she chooses to exile, with the promise of potential future forgiveness, to the planet’s moon rather than punish a dude traditionally. (Also she’s in love with an outsider that isn’t super welcome on her planet because of his past in a group involved in the destruction of her home)
…that’s gotta be deliberate right? I know this show is bizarrely averse to saying her name but to me Satine was ever present in the episode essentially this episode in 40 some minutes basically blazes through the entire Mandalore arc on TCW. It illustrates both the sky high achievements and deep pitfalls of Satine’s New Mandalorian government through Plazir-15…hell Plazir-15 even LOOKS like Clone Wars era Sundari
Lizzo (I know the character has a name but she’s Lizzo to me) IS Satine.
I just can’t tell if I like this very obvious allusion or if it makes me even angrier about the exclusion of Satine Kryze. Because there’s literally NO WAY Bo-Katan wouldn’t immediately be reminded of Satine and Sundari this episode…

Hey Lumi! I've been loving your Bo-Katan commentary and have appreciated the way you make connections to previous content from Clone Wars and Rebels, pointing out lots of things I would have missed otherwise! So I hope you don't mind a lore question. Has Bo-Katan ever been referred to as a "princess" before this episode? I was confused when she said that, since Satine was a Duchess, and I hadn't ever gotten the impression that Mandalore was a strict hereditary monarchy, but that the houses would rise and fall. I got nothing from reading Wookiepedia so I'm hoping you can shed some light!
Hi! Thank you, I'm glad the Bo-Katan commentary has been entertaining! I have to admit, I've fallen back in love with Mean Wife, she is so mean and so great! Unfortunately, I'm not going to be able to help much with the Mandalorian stuff because there's really not a lot about it in canon. Legends probably covered a bunch of stuff, but The Mandalorian is not part of the Legends continuity, so who knows what Favreau is going to do with this. I'm not sure we really know how Mandalore's royalty situation worked out, why Satine was Duchess instead of Queen, if there's a functional difference, if it's one of those situations like where Padme was Queen of Naboo, but it was an elected position, that maybe terms don't mean the same thing in Star Wars as they do in our universe, and "Duchess" means "Queen" to them, etc. All of that is speculation! I did get the impression that Satine's position was hereditary because she came into that position when she was very young, given the age she and Obi-Wan and Qui-Gon were on the run, but if she'd been elected, she wouldn't still be Duchess and she probably would have been more popular at that time. But also because House Kryze was established as a thing (like House Vizsla) in TCW, which is hereditary as well, if we're going by how long House Vizsla has history all the way back to at least Tarre Vizsla. But a lot of that is based on the vibes I got from how characters acted and how there was nothing mentioned of rises and falls or elections, like Pre Vizsla didn't become the Duke of Mandalore, instead it fell to the Prime Minister that he was puppet mastering, despite that Pre was from House Vizsla, which has a long, long history with Mandalore. So, the "Princess" line threw me, but I'm just assuming that, yeah, the Kryze family was royalty and that we're not meant to take "Princess" super literally in a 1:1 relation to our own world or that maybe she was Princess of Kalevala, but Duchess/Duke was a separate role that a person from House Kryze inherited. (And should have passed to Bo-Katan on Satine's death, but the political upheaval on Mandalore was too chaotic and they weren't willing to rally around Bo-Katan at the time.) Really, though, it's impossible to say, we don't know nearly enough about canon to say what the term "Princess" means or if Favreau doesn't care and just threw it in there because it sounded good. Never underestimate the power of something sounding good. XD

So I was talking to @deniigi (Matt) about the "Kryzes bullying Mand'alors into doing their jobs" post and anyway. We have Developed A Korkie. He's regularly damseling himself in pursuit of Cute Strong Datemate.
Because, like, okay. The main thing with the Kryzes overall is that =, in Matt's words: "They're very good admins, and in the face of incompetence they rattle."
I can imagine them just hissing "You will be a FIGUREHEAD to keep people from fucking up my carefully-legislated taxation process if NOTHING ELSE."
But I don't have a solid adult Korkie! I don't! I have a few variations on him as a kid or teen, but nothing for him as an adult. I want to do more with him because I think he has the potential to be deeply weird in fun ways.
Also because I was thinking about the "Korkarius" line in Dead Peanut Gallery and the Korkie-got-politics-married in staring down the barrel of the hot sun, and I haven't really used him as a person instead of a prop outside of Skysisters and the 'let's lie to Hondo' thing.
Anyway.
Matt said:
I haven't really thought of korkie hmm. He strikes me as the kind of person who builds ships on bottles and would like to dress like a pirate every day but he's afraid of what the public will think if he shows up in a frock coat and cravat I can see his aunties indulging him shsjshs
And yes he is absolutely that kind of nerd, and I also do enjoy the idea of Bo-Katan being mildly less The Worst and deciding to just? Kidnap him for summer vacation? So she can teach him how to fight better.
But we can make it weirder!
Bo-Katan like. Buys him some ice cream and then attacks him while he has to try to keep the ice cream on the cone so he can actually finish eating it.
We don't. Really know what happened to Korkie.
It's very likely that he died when the empire glassed the planet BUT I want to believe that he ended up like. Head bureaucrat. No he's not a badass or even particularly well-known outside the system, but hey someone's got to keep an eye on agricultural subsidies and educational spending, right?
And possibly got marriage-of-convenienced For The Good Of Mandalore in a way that places him as a wistful period-drama maiden at a window, trapped in a pleasant but loveless marriage for the good of her people. (Yes, this is the part inspired a little by the earlier-referenced fic.)
It would be nice if he WERE involved in the rebellion through Sabine, I think? Like, helping surreptitiously funnel aid, smuggling refugees to safety, that sort of thing.
He has this terrible artist friend who keeps stealing him out from under the nose of his disappointed wife
But you know how Korkie is one of several young royals/nobles that gets to be damseled for Ahsoka to save?
Just play that out, trope-wise. His life is a fairytale but he's eternally stuck in the 'waiting for my prince to come' period. Someone probably put him in a tower for a few years during the imperial era and it was very 'sigh longingly by the window.'
Ahsoka keeps kidnapping him for things and he gets his thrills and then pines (I would love a story where people keep falling in love with ahsoka and she keeps ignoring it and fucking off)
He's got a well for sensitive boys. Like he's not this sad during TCW but man. Satine's death and the Empire really put a damper on everything.
Would love for him to be a full adult doing this at like 48 years old with a beard still
"Korkie, how the hell do you keep getting kidnapped? I thought you could fight better than this." "I am WAITING for my PRINCE to come but it's always YOU, Ahsoka, and you already said no." "Do you want me to leave you there next time???"
He does. Just for 5 more minutes Shskdhdidbdkd Korkie who feels some kind of way about din
Bo-Katan just "Listen I know you're not exactly looking for work right now, but I'm paying Fett to kidnap my nephew, so if you could just swoop in and 'save' him before Tano does, without mentioning I hired you to do it, that would be great."
"...what."
"It's his birthday."
"I'm more confused now than I was ten seconds ago."
Bo this would have been a very thoughtful gift when he was fifteen but your nephew is in his forties, please chill.
He still loves it He asks if she can send the mand'alor again please He got carried a little bit
I think I just like people being deeply weird about romance and their loved ones going "Yeah I mean... yeah, that's normal for them."
Korkie is so flirty with Din, who HAS been flirted with by not-fighty people before, but never a... he doesn't want to say 'a fop' but he's heard that slang before and he thinks it might apply
A FOP Sgskdhdjd Yes Perfect
It is at this point I must acknowledge that I'm mentally turning Korkie into a less-morally-questionable Tarvek Sturmvoraus.
Fashionable royalty that is very competent, but keeps getting kidnapped.
I am now thinking about Din receiving these letters and anonymous saves in weird situations and when he asks who sent so-and-so to give him a hand, he is just told "a benefactor"
Korkie sending him heavily-armed backup as a 'token of favor' like a handkerchief to a knight
Ahsoka is egging him on because this is the funniest romantic drama she's seen in years.
I want Luke getting annoyed with Leia trying to micromanage his wardrobe for an event, so he goes to Ahsoka, and she's like "I mean I've got a solution, if you're okay with middle-aged bisexual fancyboys talking about how they may or may not be related to Obi-Wan while they complain at you about how nobody goes around saving damsels properly anymore."
(Luke catches on the Obi-Wan part and agrees just for that.)
I think Ahsoka definitely spent some time "hiding out" on Korkie's couch as Fulcrum during early imperial era.
They developed a habit of overdramatically calling each other 'darling' and 'my dear' and 'old friend' in a perfect imitations of Obi-Wan and Satine because it made things hurt a little less.
I think korkie should continue to claim that he's obi-wans heir And I think force ghost obi-wan should have a post-death heart attack when he learns of it
I do also like including Satine in the "darksaber haunted by past Mand'alors" thing because I find it funny and also thing it would be EXTRA funny for Satine and Obi-Wan's ghosts to be making out in a corner while Luke and Din try desperately to ignore them.
Luke and Din trying to ignore the dead flirting going on behind him because their full attention is needed to cope with ahsoka being useless while korkie heaps praise on Din for things that are inconsequential

Satine for Character Opinion Bingo!
Skhdkdhdkdk you wanted me to break my brain explaining this one huh
Tumblr media
Ok so she’s one of the most interesting potential characters in TCW and in general just like, y’all her backstory and political position and the story behind it and her relationship with her sister and the rest of her family?!?!?
Y’all this is a woman who grew up in a society that runs itself on conflict, in the middle of a civil war that fractured planets, and seized control of a war-torn planet peacefully at the age of what had to be 18 or younger after being hunted for sport for a year. She looked at a stiff conservative culture that was literally destroying her planet and went “and nobody’s seen a problem with literally any of this? How about no.” And she TRIED TO CHANGE THINGS TO HELP PEOPLE. ALL SHE WANTED WAS TO SAVE LIVES. Was she good at ruling? Actually fucking debatably, she managed to hold her position for at least 20 years when we’ve seen just how fucking easy it is to depose her when she actually lost the Will of the people. She ruled by POPULARITY because otherwise Death Watch would have did a coup so much fucking earlier. Was she a good ruler? Not ultimately, no, she was traumatized and overtrusting and naïve, took her radicalism to a dangerous level to herself and her people and it brought her downfall. But she fuckgin tried and she cared so, so much. And also her personality is my absolute favorite of “stubborn firebrand shakes stick at god as he floods them”. She is absolutely completely alone because in order to get where she is all her loved ones have either died or must take second place to her ambitions and sense of duty. She’s angry, god, she’s so fucking angry at society for being unfair and unkind, a bitch and she doesn’t care about being nice even if she is kind and she’s hypocritical and messy and flawed and so very beautifully human— if the narrative would fucking LET her be.
But the narrative doesn’t care. To the writers and the narrative, this is just Obi Wan Kenobi’s Love Interest, she’s twice as smart as him and thrice as perfect and their powers combined make them better than Anidala in every way uwu. She’s a cute Easter egg for a scandalous lovechild. She’s a sad almost 40 year old woman hung up on the guy she dated for a year in high school. She cries at his funeral because Anakin isn’t allowed to, she’s a Feminist(TM) but also the absolute perfect damsel in distress by design for Obi Wan to swoop in and save until he can’t. Her sister who was separated from her and estranged to the point of trying to murder her isn’t introduced until AFTER she dies. The story she needs to fully explore her character cannot be fit into her minor minor minor role in TCW, hell, there’s not enough space in the story to give her a proper shake as Obi Wan’s Comphet Girlfriend. She’s Obi Wan’s cute little what if nuclear family possibility who’s also better and purer in every way than Padmé even though PADMÉ actually won against her attempted coup
Nobody understands or should be trusted with Satine Kryze except for me also she’s asexual and demiromantic because so am I and THAT makes more sense for her character than “grown ass woman patiently waiting and virgin loyal to her junior prom date”
Thems the rules, that’s just how it is ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

omg i love all ur hcs!!! i think it makes sense so many of them would be dark/depressing bc she is dark and depressing lol but that's why we love her!! pls feel free to continue if you want :)
Aaaaaa thank you!!!! And yes I agree, the fact that she is sad wet and pathetic is exactly what makes her so interesting!! Okay ask and you shall receive:
— I feel like Bo was also living a double life during the years leading up to TCW era, dedicating herself to building up and co-leading Death Watch but also maintaining the facade of her life in Sundari (to keep up appearances/maintain her position of status, but also mostly to collect government intel and leak it back to DW)
—Lowkey more of a Bo-adjacent HC but: in the wake of the events of The Mandalore Plot (after Vizsla is exposed as the leader of Death Watch) I feel like Satine just. Knows. her sister must be involved too based on how close the two of them always were (though she never suspected anything negative or dangerous going on between them) but she doesn't want to believe it. The next day, footage of Bo fleeing the scene of a DW-incited riot on a nearby world hits the news. She sneers directly into the camera. Satine knows the look was intended just for her.
(Aight I can't promise these will all be lighter but I'm throwing in some HCs that are at least random and a bit shorter:)
— The nite owl crest is the historic signet of House Kryze, Bo sees using it to represent her own elite warriors as a first step to reclaiming a bit of her family's honor and reputation
— She is extremely tall, like 5'11", and extremely freckled. I feel like she started out insecure about standing out and the attention that came with it, but grew to not really care and even use it to her advantage.
— Zero filters, swears constantly, extremely sarcastic, is never above inciting a fight or argument no matter how petty, etc etc
—Banter is her love language, platonic or romantic. If she can talk shit to and about you in a funny affectionate way and trust that you'll give as good as you get, that means she's truly 100% comfortable and trusting around you.
— Lowkey suffers from not like other girls syndrome. A tomboy who never aged out of her "ew I don't have a girly side and I never will" era. Pretty feminist outside of this one blind spot.
— She's all-in on taking down Satine along with her government, no regrets no personal feelings. The only person she sometimes feels a pang of remorse over in the whole situation is Korkie. I feel like when Bo was in their lives, they had a big-little sibling dynamic more than she and Satine did in many ways (based on my HCs they would've only been 5 years apart, whereas she and Satine would have been 10-11 apart.) She can mostly put it out of her mind but occasionally a bit of guilt over turning on him hits her. She hopes maybe he'll see reason and join the correct side when the fateful moment comes. (oops shit this one was long again)
Aight stopping before the post gets long af, thank you for inviting me to rant again!!! I.... could literally go on until the end of time if you actually want more....

This Capt' goes down with her Ship
I’m honestly amazed at how many messages I receive both here and on Twitter that ask me why I ship Obi-Wan with Siri Tachi over Satine Kryze. I guess I’m mostly amazed because I can’t believe people actually care enough to take the time to message me about my character preferences, that’s just really fascinating to me.
But, since I’m getting tired of writing this out in individual messages I thought perhaps a blog would be a good idea so that way I can just reference/link them to it later - it’ll be much easier. So, bear with me while I get a little self indulgent (and Satine stans please don’t come at me, I will explain below how I really have nothing against Obitine).
This is going to be really long, and I’m not expecting anyone to actually read this, but here we go!
I’ll begin by answering questions that are sitting in my inbox:
1. Who the hell is Siri Tachi?? For those who don’t know the character of Siri Tachi, she was a female Jedi who was two years younger than Obi-Wan. She was originally from the Legends young reader book series Jedi Apprentice and Jedi Quest (written by Jude Watson). She was in many of the same Padawan classes as Obi-Wan even though she was two years his junior because of her advanced skills. She could hold her own against him in a lightsaber duel even as they grew up. She was chosen as an apprentice to Jedi Council Member Adi Gallia at age 11 which was very impressive given how young she was and the fact that a Council Member chose her.
Tumblr media
(I don’t know why she looks like Brittany Spears in this drawing, not my fave)
She did have a hard time fitting in with her peers when she was younger though because she was so focused on her career as a Jedi which didn’t always make her the friendliest person to be around (it was really her masking her insecurities) and it was only after she was paired on several missions with Obi-Wan that they even became friends.
Tumblr media
She and Obi-Wan over the years grew very close and eventually discovered their feelings had crossed the line from friends to something more while on a mission when they were older Padawans (Obi was 18). They had been separated from their masters and nearly died while on that mission. So, before they “died” they each confessed their love to the other, but when it turned out they didn’t actually die they decided they’d wait and figure out what their relationship actually meant once the mission was over - putting duty above their feelings. But Qui-Gon and Yoda intervene before the two of them could have the conversation and the Masters reminded Obi-Wan of his dedication to the Jedi Order. Obi-Wan argued that he and Siri would be able to find a way to be together while still being active Jedi, that maybe they could be an exception to the rule or even change the rule entirely. Both he and Siri did end up choosing their commitment to the Jedi over their relationship in the end, because each of them realized they’d regret not being Jedi more than anything, but it did put a strain on their friendship for many years.
At 23 Siri was secretly knighted and her first solo mission was sent undercover to infiltrate and take down a huge pirate slaver operation and she spent 4 years on that mission, all on her own with limited communication with the Council.
Tumblr media
In order to do this she had to pretend to have a falling out with her Master and “leave” the Order entirely, everyone thought she had fallen to the dark side. Obi-Wan was devastated, and he spent several months looking for her because he refused to believe she’d actually fall. It was also clear that he was heartbroken that she left, especially knowing what they had given up in order to be Jedi. Upon ending the mission she returned to the Jedi and was then often sent on other undercover missions throughout the rest of her career (including one where she and Obi-Wan had to play a royal married couple which was super cute). Her actually being a Jedi Shadow is not official and is a fanfiction creation - but, it’s one that I 100% headcanon because it just makes sense.
Siri was very different when she returned from her long undercover mission, she had lived as a pirate for 4 years and so she was not as uptight and rule bound as she had been in her youth. She began to wear tight unisuits/flight suits instead of the traditional Jedi tunics and she had grown to be a bit more irreverent - even showing up late to Jedi Council summons.  Obi-Wan didn’t seem to mind the change and the two became a formidable pair as Knights and they were sent together (with their Padawans who hated one another) on several missions.
Tumblr media
Obi-Wan and Siri were always written as being equals, never one more powerful than the other. They often shared flirtatious banter (nothing new for Obi-Wan) and they seemed very much in sync on missions that it was clear they shared some kind of bond. They never seemed to let their failed romance stand between them and their duty, and only brought it up once more as adults to admit that they still loved each other, but were content to just be friends because it would be selfish of them to turn their backs on the Jedi simply for their love. Then upon Siri’s untimely death (she of course died in his arms) she told him that she’d always be with him. And he nearly fell to the dark side due to his anger, but stopped himself from killing the man who was responsible for Siri’s death because he knew she’d not want him to fall because of her.
In canon there isn’t much about her (yet), except that Siri is said to be the girl Obi-Wan would hold hands with under the table during mid-day meals which suggests that they had a bit of a secret affair/flirtation for many years.
2. Why don’t you like Satine? This is a bit of a loaded question because even though I tend to write fics centered more on Obi-Wan and Siri’s relationship doesn’t mean that I don’t enjoy the character of Satine or that I don’t swoon over their relationship from time to time thanks to some very well written fics ( @mahizli I’m looking your way). I just tend to write Siri more than Satine because I can relate to Siri more as a character, but in truth I also feel Siri and Obi-Wan’s relationship is a bit more well rounded than his and Satine’s
*ducks to avoid things being thrown at her*.
Tumblr media
Satine and Obi-Wan have a beautiful love story, don’t get me wrong. But for me personally I am a little sick of the Romeo & Juliette/star crossed lovers angle. And that’s totally what they are - She’s a Mandalorian, He’s a Jedi, it’s a forbidden love not just because of his code, but because their “families” were mortal enemies. And I guess I’m just not super inspired by it. Not to mention that they met as children (apparently only 15 years old according to canon), confessed their undying love for one another after a year of knowing one another in a life or death situation and then pined for each other for the next 20 years until they were reunited...I just have a very hard time finding this story relatable (and hate to say it, plausible). Not that they couldn’t have felt love for one another as teenagers (especially in that situation), but that they still felt that same level of love 20 years later without ever seeing one another...at least with Siri they still had to interact with one another on a regular basis so it would be harder to push those feelings aside.
The other reason I have a hard time writing Satine and Obi-Wan is because the romantic love they seem to have in TCW is written to be very one sided in my opinion. While Obi-Wan clearly cares for her, and admits to having feelings for her at one time it’s only ever Satine who actually seems to want something with him in the current sense. Which honestly makes their relationship feels a bit cringy to me, it doesn’t feel like it’s on equal footing - and makes it seem like Satine is a bit obsessive (I don’t blame her, it is Obi-Wan after all). This is a similar argument I have about Padme’s character, I feel like we’re presented with these incredibly strong women characters who for whatever reason still fall apart when it comes to love...I think it’s a reflection of men trying to write women and it ends up being a bit of a fantasy (the sexy/badass woman who secretly needs a man to save her). So, to sum up - I really do  love Satine’s character outside of her relationship with Obi-Wan.
Tumblr media
Again, this is just MY interpretation of Satine and Obi-Wan’s relationship...I get other people tend to feel very differently and that’s wonderful!!
I will say, the thing I do like about Obi-Wan and Satine’s relationship and very much appreciate is how it is an opposite parallel to Anakin and Padme’s relationship. And it shows what a Jedi should’ve done - how you can’t have both a commitment to the Jedi Order and a marriage, but you can still care deeply about another person. I do very much appreciate that aspect of their relationship and it’s very well done from that perspective.
3. So, why SiriWan after all these years? Well, I’m drawn to Obi-Wan and Siri’s relationship for several reasons, but mostly because they are written as equals/partners (as I had mentioned above), both have moments where you can see the love they hold for one another - their feelings are very much shared and not one sided, but above all it’s not the main defining factor of their relationship. They are Jedi and friends before anything else, and I love that! It may not be as flashy or maybe even as passionate as say Satine or Cody but to me it’s more full and well rounded. I can also see their relationship growing and changing over the years, they aren’t stuck in one place or in the past.
Tumblr media
I also tend to find the Jedi culture more fascinating than the Mandalorians. I know, I know, I’m a heretic. That’s not to say, again that I don’t think Satine on her own isn’t fascinating, I just am a little tired of Mandalore’s importance in virtually every aspect of Star Wars these days and I feel like there is only so much you can do with Obi-Wan having feelings for a Mandalorian, where as him navigating a relationship with another Jedi is more interesting. The Jedi are allowed to be intimate with people, contrary to popular belief they are allowed to love, they just can’t become possessive/attached - I feel like two Jedi would have an easier time navigating that than someone who wasn’t raised with that same code. I think Siri and Obi-Wan have more opportunities to have a more realistic and adult relationship and I like writing/exploring that.
The other thing I like about Siri and Obi-Wan specifically is the fact that neither ever really considered leaving the Order for the other. They knew how important being a Jedi was to the other, and I think having a love interest that Obi-Wan didn’t consider leaving for is an important distinction.
Tumblr media
Instead he thought they would be able to change the rules/code because he assumed it would be obvious that their love was pure and not an attachment. Now, obviously they both realized later that it was just foolish/young love talking (because I’m sure teenagers have to be extra careful of forming attachments), but what I really adore the concept that Obi-Wan “by the code” Kenobi had loved Siri so much that he’d even remotely consider the idea that he’d want the rules to change for her/them (and Siri “by the code” Tachi felt the same about him). There is something incredibly romantic about that - naïve, but romantic.
I also believe that romantic love doesn’t automatically equal “true love”. I personally feel that Obi-Wan and Siri have a love that is on such a deep level that their relationship doesn’t always have to be romantic. They simply just love one another, in whatever form that takes at any given period in time throughout their lives, sometimes it takes the form of just friends, sometimes lovers, sometimes romantic. And I wish we saw more relationships like that in various media. But I get why we don’t, they are harder to write and less overtly sexy/dramatic.
Tumblr media
Also, when someone says the phrase:
“Forgive me if I still think I know you better than anyone.” (Siri)
And it’s followed immediately with:
“You do”  (Obi-Wan)
My heart just melts, because that to me is love!!
4. So, you actually think Obi-Wan loved both Siri & Satine? Yes, I do...100%. I think they all loved other people at different points in their lives. I personally feel that most of Obi-Wan’s various ships (with exceptions of Master/Padawan ships...sorry, just not my bag) actually happened. I could see a young Obi-Wan having a fling with Quinlan Vos (I doubt they could handle more than that), I could definitely see him have an attraction/affection towards Cody (I don’t think given the power dynamic Obi-Wan would ever allow anything to actually happen between them though), I even believe he and Ventress had a rather confusing and passionate night together (maybe even more than one), I can see him easily having a relationship at one point with Taria Damsin (to which Siri would give him endless crap about because he seems to have a thing for Jedi Shadows). I’m sure he even had a relationship with Annileen on Tatooine to help find some comfort during his exile. To me all of that makes so much more sense than him (and Satine) pining away for one another for 20+ years.
Allowing Obi-Wan to have multiple loves in his life also helps showcase the idea of non-attachment. It’s not that Jedi promote promiscuity - though they won’t judge anyone for it (I see the Jedi very much in the mindset of: it’s your body/your choice) it’s that the idea of attachment means possessing someone, thinking you own someone and also putting that person’s value over others. The idea that Obi-Wan could find love and value in a multitude of lovers to me shows him capable of loving without attachment - He is able to let these people go when the relationship has run its course...it’s very healthy.
Tumblr media
Not to mention that realistically people tend to have multiple relationships and loves throughout their lives. To only ever love one person is incredibly unrealistic, unhealthy and frankly screams attachment to me *cough Anakin, cough*.
In conclusion: If you’re still reading this (did you not have anything better to do with your time???) I do hope you have a bit more of an understanding why I personally like to write Obi-Wan and Siri’s relationship instead of his and Satine’s. Though if you read my fics (thank you if you do) I hope you realize that I try to not make the stories all about their relationship - yes, it pops up here and there, but I try not to make it the focal point. I believe both Obi-Wan and Siri are so much more than just a romance and that’s what I really love writing.
But I raise a glass and toast all of those who prefer to ship Obitine or CodyWan or Ventrobi (or whatever Obi-Wan and Quilan’s ship name is) - I love reading your take on those relationships and I hope you don’t mind if an old SiriWan shipper joins the fun!
Phew, rant over...man, does anyone else have to defend their OTP preferences to strangers?? It’s just so odd to me!
Thanks for reading, and if you’re a Siri, Obi-Wan or SiriWan fan drop me a line - I can seriously talk about them for hours!
