here's the reveal of my stupid little pokemon yume that i made for the sake of grusha and rika :D

Relatives: Silver (Step Brother), Giovanni (Step Father), Unknown Mother (Most if not all forms of contact have been severed between them and their family)

Ace Pokemon: Ceruledge (I'd say Buneary but it's just there for emotional support)

Fun facts??:

-They're a Hex Maniac (despite specialising in poison types)

-Maki's surname means flower in chinese

-They love mushrooms (which i guess started their love for poison type pokemon)

-Despite having Ceruledge as their ace pokemon, Maki adores their Buneary and Scorbunny

-Their real name is Lilac. They changed it so that no one would recognise them, especially their family members

Very important and very confusing lore:

Due to being poorly treated and being neglected by their parents, Maki fled their home in hopes of starting a new life where they would be free from all the cruelty they've faced.

They tried starting a new life in Alola but goddamn the heat and the summer there was WAY too unbearable for them so they moved to Paldea cuz of the cooler weather there (let's be real, being in the cold is way better than being in the heat)

After finally finding a place to stay in Montenevera, Maki struggled to find a job due to their lack in certain skills but it wasn't long before they'd discover their talent as a musician and even collaborated with Ryme every so often. They saw Ryme as some sort of parent figure that they lacked in their life.

Maki was invited as a co-star to perform with Ryme in anevent where they met the other Gym Leaders as well as two other individuals who were part of the Elite Four. Two of them had developed some kind of attraction towards them and even tried to court them (ahem, ahem, GRUSHA, *cough* *cough*, RIKA).

As a side job, Maki participates in Double Battles with Ryme (they don't get paid to do that so they put minimum effort into said battles so Ryme tries to hype them up as much as possible).

Not sound strange, but is there any problems with Akrai loving ghost type zoroarks? Is there a reason to her love beside that she think there neat? (they are neat) I mean ingo got messed up by one and lost his memories/self. Do they show the video to people? Like she is talking about how God stole her memory and they ask if that how Ingo lost his.

The biggest problems Akari would have faced due to her love and compassion for the Zorua would have been back in Hisui. Most everyone were terrified of them and there were those that requested she not have her Zorua out of its poke ball when inside the village proper. Akari tried to get the people to understand, but she also didn’t want to put her pokemon into a position where it felt unsafe. Even Professor Laventon was more focused on how scary and dangerous Zorua and Zoroark could be when filling out the Pokédex.

The Zorua/Zoroark are a breed of pokemon who have suffered terribly by the hands of humans and even other pokemon in Hisui. They were chased out of their home land and exiled into the unforgiving Icelands, where they had all nearly perished until they managed to adapt/return in a new form, resulting in their living/dead typing (normal/ghost). This is generational trauma that has left their kind deeply distrusting and aggressive to others. They will strike first to protect themselves and their loved ones.

Learning all of this during her survey work, (studying them in the wild from a distance, asking different people the history/folklore surrounding them) Akari couldn’t help but feel a deep compassion for these pokemon who have been literally left out in the cold. Because they are still pokemon, they can still be caught in a ball and befriended just like any other. They’re even friendlier then Buneary after capture too.

After the events of the plot and her exile she puts even more effort into trying to bridge the rift between Zorua/Zoroark and people. It doesn’t go well, no one believes her that they can ever be tamed even after the dozens she’s successfully caught and released during her study of then. Eventually she finds a Zorua who decides to stay with her instead of return to their pack, something Akari is so moved by as it’s proof that her efforts are working.

As for Ingo, the reason he had been attacked in the first place was due to his approach of a young Zorua. Ingo at the time hadn’t even recognized the pokemon as a Zorua at first and had no idea of its parent Zoroarks fierce protective reputation. Looking back on it I don’t believe Ingo would hold any animosity toward the pokemon for attacking him like it did. Sneaseler might even do the same thing if a stranger suddenly approached one of her young babies. 

Plus, while Ingo is now aware that he was attacked by a Zoroark and has watched video multiple times even, he still has absolutely no first hand memory of the attack or what came before it at all. Plus they’re still not entirely sure if it was the attack that took all his memories or if he had already lost them in his arrival like Akari had. The only window that have into that time is that short video and it doesn’t give them much information. Ingo might have his memories during that time, or he might not. Even Akari remembered plenty of the Pokémon she had met and had to stop her self from adding details into her official notes that weren’t from what she had observed.

And no, they do not show the video to many folks at all if they can avoid it. They are both aware of the reputation the pokemon has and don’t want to back track Akari’s efforts. Ingo does remember a Zorua that looked different from the ghostly one and who also faced allot of prejudice as well.

The only people they would have shown it to might have been Irida and one or two others in the Pearl clan. Folks who had been there helping Ingo from early on, and who he feels should know the full picture as to why he’s so sure this phone is his and that he came from the same place as Akari.

As for if Emmet ever sees the video, I would say yes, and he would also be given the full context as to why the Zoroark lashed out at Ingo like it did. But I feel like Emmet would understand though. Any good trainer knows that ‘bad’ pokemon do not actuality exist.

(I did not mean for this post to get so long… I’m really passionate about Zorua/Zoroark ok??)

Pokémon crossovers are never NOT fun, so I tried my own hand at some Dangan-Poké trainers!

The original angular designs are classic, but I have to admit I love the looser styles coming out of the newest games and anime. What I didn't anticipate is how hard it is to get those perfectly calculated 'cute' proportions right, pokémon artists have the ratios down to a SCIENCE. I planned to get this out around my birthday, but missed it by a week! XD

Since my main goal here was translating the danganronpa designs into bona fide pokémon trainer types; I'll admit I didn't think too hard about their pokémon partners. I only actually played the first few games so my expertise is kinda relegated to the original 151/251, with my knowledge of more recent generations lacking, so my bro helped me out with a few suggestions.

but for what it's worth - here's my logic:

Kyoko Initially this one was mostly aesthetics, but Absol does have uncanny observational skills coupled with a solitary nature. Makoto Lucky egg boy gets the lucky egg pokémon, but I also wanted the supposed 'pushover' to have a powerhouse, and Tyranitar needs a lot of attention to evolve. (geeze Makoto, how come you get to have 2 pokémon?) Taka What can I say, it's everyone's fave '''legendary''' police dog! (I'll come clean, I totally cribbed this from Chasml after reading 'My Real Test'; I cannot imagine Taka without an Arcanine) Mondo My bro calls Pangoro 'delinquent bear' so it fits Mondo well, but the idea Pancham refuses to evolve cos he knows Mondo loves the cute pre-evolutions is hilarious to me. Sayaka Primarina is an all singing, all dancing diva, just like the idol herself. Leon Zebstrika . . .zebSTRIKA . . .zebSTRIKA . . . STRIKE like in BASEBALL GEDDIT??? But also - ill tempered, physically talented with a punky aesthetic? Sounds like Leon. Celeste A stocky, grey, spoiled feline? Describes Marill to a T. Sakura Whilst she definitely has fighter type pokémon on her team - Alolan Ninetales' style, grace and calm demeanour just reminded me of Sakura. Toko Although insect/bug types would suit her well; I think a lot of them are still too 'cute' - 'unpleasant' pokémon like Grimer or Trubbish mirror her extreme self-image issues. Byakuya I know Ditto suits TWOgami better, but a bit of meta here - a foreign language Ditto is the best way to breed Shinys which seems right up Byakuya's alley; with the obligatory 'Rich Guy Persian' for good measure. Chihiro What self-respecting computer whizz wouldn't dream of a constant portable power supply? Helps that Charjabug is also adorable. Hiro Unpredictably psychic, undefinable intelligence and contentious usefulness, am I talking about Hiro or the Psyduck? Junko Gothorita is called both "the Manipulate pokémon" and "The Witch of Punishment" in its pokédex entries . . . It’s been a good year.

We’re coming up on KipQuest’s first year anniversary and it is with a heavy heart and a conflicted soul that I announce that I am going to be closing this blog.

What happened? D:

Nothing happened in the traditional sense. I came out here for a good time and I had a good time and then I stopped having a good time. So I decided that drastic measures needed to be taken. I don’t have the desire to quit pokeask blogging, or blogging in general, or art, or storytelling, or any of that.

I just want to quit this particular blog and all the other blogs attached to this primary blog outside of my artblog (which I made a sideblog for this exact reason) and Maat’s blog. The disconnect has been months in the making and it is not at all related to my mental health or my motivation for art, or even my lack of physical energy. I’d just rather be doing literally anything else and that’s a really really bad thing for a long term project.

I tried everything I could think of to get myself going again. Memes, interactions, hiatus, total disconnect from Tumblr, a different, less stressful blog. I tried a lot. And it didn’t work. Ideas just fall flat and die sometimes so I am taking my own advice and just doing what I want to do.

Where are you going?

I’m not going anywhere. I’m going to write a blog from start to end. I’m going to have a plan. I’m going to reevaluate myself and my life choices. I’m going to do something self-indulgent and something that I will be passionate about, even if I’m just a cliched and tropey mess. I don’t know what the blog will be or the format, or the style, or even the name. I don’t know anything right now.

I don’t even know if I’ll have an answer for that question anytime soon. I will, however, be on my artblog, drawing art and dumping it there every once in a while. I’ll still be drawing pokemon like a damn nerd and I will still love it. I will probably take all the art prompts I have stockpiled and go through them as I figure out what the fresh hell I am going to do.

I’ll still be on this primary blog while I work on my other things. All the memes will be posted on my artblog as I finish them. (Though I run mostly on a queue.)

Maybe. I won’t try to use this blog to promote my new one because I feel that it is disingenuous to use this thing I didn’t finish to promote something I hopefully will. Pride? It’s more like guilt. I’d hate to be a disappointment again. I’d hate to disappoint you again.

What about this story?

I can give you the very short version of what I had originally intended for Kippy’s KipQuest under the cut if you want to know the story at the most surface level. There, you will see my incredible lack of planning. I will not elaborate much more than this in the interest of not writing a novel. I apologize that all the nuance is gone. Rip all the worldbuilding.

Just in case, you decide to not read under the cut (it’s all story stuff anyway) I wanted to say thank you for all the good times. I learned a lot about art, myself, and commitment. I asked a lot of questions to a lot of people and learned so much about others. It was fun while it lasted. This is not the last you will see of me. But this will likely be the last update post I make on this blog.

You know what they say, right? Better luck next time.

Kippy would have made their internal struggle known to their mother that they didn’t know whether to pick a boy name (Skipper after Amelia’s father) or a girl name (Pankaja which is a name related to soil though the language of origin escapes me). Kippy’s mother, Amelia, assured them that no matter what they ultimately decided, it was their choice to make and that she would be proud of her little kipper.

Kippy, who was born male, chose Pankaja as her official name but still likes Kippy as a nickname. She then takes on female pronouns and begins to make her way into the world at large. During this time, Jalon, a Honchkrow leader of the village Kippy lives in, has her put on a team prematurely because Jalon does not like that Baaba challenges his authority.

Baaba confronts the Grand Psion - a sort of gauge for an individual’s potential - and demands that he tell the truth about Kippy’s potential. The Grand Psion, who was most certainly lying about Kippy’s abilities at the request of Amelia, claims ignorance and Baaba doesn’t buy it, so he storms off with renewed vigor to get Kippy trained in the only way he knew how.

Amelia has the Grand Psion lie about Kippy’s potential because Kippy was born a Bad Egg because Amelia had a lot of trouble with having children. Amelia had a number of previous attempts with her mate, Armament - who was a Garchomp that died in the line of duty - but they all either miscarried or just did not hatch when they were supposed to. She begged the Grand Psion to lie about Kippy so Kippy wouldn’t get herself killed in a military life. Kippy never finds this out.

Kippy is paired with Pepin, a Buneary who failed to live up to his family’s astronomical expectations, and Pax, a Swablu who hates being a Priest and fulfilling the role of a “healer” despite having the ability to use Heal Pulse. The three of them are sent off on a mission that was not meant for them to complete, due to a mix up between assignments.

They end up delving into a cavern and finding evidence of humans existing as well as the Red and Blue Orbs and the Meteorite, which were placed in this deep cavern to keep Columbia, a radically violent and nihilistic Origin Jirachi, from continuing to hunt down and slaughter other Jirachi to gain their power.

Kippy releases Columbia, who very nearly kills the three of them on sight and disappears into the Realm of the Fairies, who have begun preparations to make an attempt at truce.

Bellatrix, who had saved Kippy and Arimus from the approaching Fairies in the beginning, ended up returning to face those approaching intruders head on with her partner, Ronnie. Ronnie is a Gardevoir who did not gain the Fairy typing when the original Blight swept the land. Nobody knows why this was, but that is the only reason she is accepted in the Valley of Darkness.

That Fairy party was a party sent by the highest order of fairy nobles to attempt a truce with the smaller neighboring land before a hopeful collaboration to unify with the Land of Dragons. The Prince of the Fairies was sent as a means of instilling an element of trust, but Bellatrix doesn’t believe that the instigators of this divisive conflict have any positive intentions in mind. She mega evolves, kills most of those present on both sides, and flees into the forest, where she succumbs to the dangerous power that mega evolution entails and falls into madness fueled only by fury and rage. Ronnie survives only because the Fairy Prince, Adelaide, stabilized her.

When Kippy and company return to the village, Jalon panics because he assumed they were going to do something simple, and instead came back with items that belong to the Land of Dragons. In order to maintain control of his people, he accuses Kippy and company of being insiders and mounts an attack using only his Murkrow flock. Pax’s trainer was an Eevee and she jumps in to protect her trainee, evolving into a Sylveon to have a better chance of fending Jalon’s lackeys off, though this solidifies the accusation that Kippy and co (and by extension, their families) are spies for the enemy.

Amelia immediately and instinctually uses her combined strength with Pax’s trainer, and Baaba, to give Kippy and co a chance to escape alive. It is never determined whether their families survived this attack because Kippy never ends up going back.

Baaba finds them in the hills outside of the village. Kippy is panicking, but Pax and Pepin are able to calm her down well enough for the four of them to figure out where they need to go. Baaba says that the Land of Dragons would be their best bet because he knows someone who has clout.

They are discovered by an adventuring party of Fairies, are captured, and taken back to the main hub where all the decisions are made. They are granted amnesty because the Fairies are attempting to make peace with the surrounding areas.

The Fairies are under the control of Xerneas, who is a fragmented and corrupted being that was created by The Bastard Palkia. Xerneas itself is an instinctual being, who has complete and total mind control over all Fairies on this world when it is awake. It only ever seeks to destroy anything that would oppose it, as well as anything that it deems a danger to it. Xerneas had been asleep for a while, but the damage already done had to be slowly undone, which proved to be almost impossible considering that the sight of a Fairy usually meant a fight was going to break out, so peace talks were rare and were hardly ever successful.

Kippy wants to help, naturally, but has no idea how to do so. She thinks that the Jirachi she released would be able to help, so she goes looking for it. Baaba stays close by for the longest time until he is attacked during another encounter with Columbia and is revealed to be a Zoroark. Kippy takes this rather well in the moment, but later confronts Baaba about it.

Baaba explains that pokemon in the area all live on a massive island created by the same Mewtwo who gave Bellatrix the ability to mega evolve. This area used to be a secluded safe haven in Kalos, so many pokemon who were harmed by experimentation make up the population, which is why there is a rather tumultuous civilization in the works. Columbia offers to spare this world if they can convince the slumbering native Jirachi to appear so Columbia can take it. It is assumed that Columbia’s attempts at seeking the native Jirachi failed, and he claimed that he was “helping” the mortals because he is a god.

Columbia is an elder god, but he is also a creation of The Bastard and is therefore, fundamentally broken on every single level of his existence. This doesn’t really matter, but Columbia spins it in a way to make himself look better, and to get Kippy and Baaba to call the native Jirachi. This works later on and that Jirachi is shredded and consumed by Columbia, who then departs to find more Jirachi to consume after flipping all his middle fingers up at the preps.

Baaba does not accept Columbia’s offer, but Kippy comes up with a plan to trick Columbia into a false sense of security. This plan fails miserably. Columbia kills the native Jirachi, and in retaliation for mortals even attempting to lie to him, wakes Xerneas up from its deep slumber. He naturally has a big villain speech explaining how Fairies are indeed evil by design because The Bastard doesn’t care about what it makes and leaves things to fester. Even humans have harnessed Fairy energy to create devastating weapons and this is no exception.

Xerneas arises and takes control of all the Fairies. At the same time, in human civilization, Magearna and the Ultimate Weapon designs are finished and deployed. The rise in harmful energy leads to a chain reaction where Xerneas’s instability directly contributes to the creation of a second, more unstable Yveltal constructed of corrupted energy.

Yveltal flees, spreading devastation and destruction everywhere. The world begins to end and there is a bright light in the sky.

Kippy and co try their best to help, but they are divided on what to do. Xerneas needs to be stopped, but there is chaos unfolding around them as they try to escape the Realm of Fairies and make their way to the Land of Dragons. Baaba has stayed with them, and no longer assumes the form of a Rattata. When they make it to the Land of Dragons, Baaba seeks out and finds the oldest dragon there, a Charizard named Basil.

Basil is upset at how these events have unfolded, but when the gods are involved, it never ends well. He promises that his attacks will be swift, but he is not optimistic. Kippy is worried, though by this time, she has evolved from a Mudkip/Gible into a Garchomp. There was a lot of tears shed and fear throughout this transitionary period, but she is determined.

Columbia has disappeared, but his presence alerted Marty, a Celebi who immediately arrives to survey the damage. It’s too much to bear. The end of the world is coming naturally, so he begins his job to tie up the loose ends and let the world collapse in itself. Despite Baaba begging that Marty not do this, Marty does not listen. Baaba lashes out because he wants Kippy to be okay. That’s his partner. His most trusted companion. And he is too smart to let her go so easily.

Marty explains that it’s better for all of existence if this world dies naturally instead of being ripped apart for no reason. Xerneas must be contained. Baaba asks Marty if Xerneas could be contained, would that allow the world to be left alone. Marty makes no promises, but does hint that their time would be extended, as everything dies eventually.

Baaba and Kippy convince Pepin and Pax to go back to the village to reiterate the information that they learned. They also convince Marty to go with them to confirm their story. Baaba and Kippy then go to Xerneas, who is deep within the forests, wandering and screaming.

Baaba has a special tool that he plans to use in order to get Xerneas under control. They fight, they win, Kippy mega evolves, and Baaba uses a Master Ball to seal Xerneas away.

It, at one point, would have been made known that Baaba is from human settlements in Kalos, where he was born before his mother made a deal with Mewtwo to create this supposed sanctuary. Humans had done a lot of fucked up shit prior to this and his mother was the result of experiments in testing pokemon’s potential. He carried with him a couple of tools from the human settlements because he inherited that human level of intelligence and planning.

Once Xerneas is sealed away in the Master Ball, Baaba explains to Kippy that there is a whole other world out there to explore and he remembers fondly traveling through Kalos a little bit before his mother whisked him away from humans as a whole. He says he wants Kippy to see the world for what it is, a wonderful place, but humans are also not to be messed with. Baaba explains that humans treat pokemon differently and sometimes badly and he wants to change that, but the only way he knows how is to show them. He offers Kippy the opportunity to go with him to Kalos. Kippy accepts.

Baaba also offer this opportunity to Pepin and Pax, both of whom have evolved fully. Pepin accepts. Pax does not.

It ends with Kippy and Pepin willingly being put into customized pokeballs and Baaba assuming the form of a human before it’s assumed that they go to Kalos and change the human world as well.

the pokemon platinum experience

i just beat pokemon platinum, my first ever pokemon game! besides magikarp jump and pokemon go. @sometipsygnostalgic​ got me to play a proper pokemon game (platinum, specifically), and i went and found an emulator and did the darned thing. gonna write aaaall my thoughts and experiences here!

the pokemon:

i picked piplup as my starter. i’ve always had a soft spot for birds, and water types are my favourites (because of playing pokemon go in a very watery place) so it was kind of a no brainer! i named him gunther and he was my best pokemon til the end. my final big pokemon were empoleon, garchomp, luxray, lucario, giratina and staraptor, and i used tropius and bibarel as HM pokemon. my favourites i saw were shinx (it was love at first sight.. cmon look at it), starly (see above...), gible (who i was very excited to discover), piplup, buneary (I HATE LOPUNNY WITH ALL MY HEART), and all the eevees! i found a shiny magikarp at one point, but i ko’d it like a fucking fool. i’ve completed the sinnoh pokedex, including the luckiest encounter i will ever have in my life, a shiny giratina! i master balled the fucker asap. 

ok, onto the next thing: exploring the game

this game has GREAT music! i have no idea how it compares to the other pokemon games, because i have never played them. however the music for routes absolutely slaps and i love the subtle change at night when it gets slower and lower in pitch, and all the music instilled these varied senses of nostalgia (for something i was just experiencing for the first time?!), home-iness in places like snowpoint city, and really nice senses of mystery and adventure and exploration. my first impression from this game alone is that the pokemon games are probably all masterclasses in this kind of electronic-ish game music because the soundtrack to platinum is fantastic! area designs were awesome, and i think i’ll probably have to spend a while more backtracking through places to see what i missed that was locked earlier on with HM moves. i loved trainer battles, i actually have to say i didn’t like wild grass encounters as much as the rest of the experience (particularly random CAVE encounters), but in the game’s defense i didnt use repels as much as i maybe should. i killed so many goddamn zubats. i liked puzzles with the pushing rocks and the caves full of unown (which i noticed the pattern in after a while.. that was awesome!) and the distortion world, etc etc. all in all, i loved the games area design and puzzles and music and atmosphere and yeah! it was great on that front

story:

yo cyrus what the fuck. like, someone needs to get that dude... idk. what makes people care about things? cyrus needs to start trying to give even a hint of a fuck about life and the world. i thought his grunts were a bit cooler, and cyrus himself... his character was a tiny bit flat i guess in  the game just because of how flat his personality is in general? dude just came across as constantly dull and nihilistic and like there was absolutely nothing else to him (i know in the anime hes actually shown to be happy with being taken to the distortion world, right?) 

i have no pictures of her and im kind of afraid to do a google image search, but i loved cynthia. i loved cynthia so much! i wasn’t all that surprised honestly to see her as the league champion. i figured the league champion would either be professor rowan, cynthia, or someone i’d never met before. cynthia was a pretty high candidate for it and i loved her throughout the game! very mysterious and nice to me and cool. i decided she was my female trainers goth gf (together they made the perfect gamer and goth gf duo)

the occasional pokemon seen walking about like an npc who makes a noise when u talk to them: 10/10 best characters,. flawless depiction, moving arcs, fantastically writen

anything else: 

ok so. i have one problem with this game. the elite four was UNBELIEVABLY hard, and if i give up on that criticism now ive beaten them itll just look like i was salty and i cant have that. the difficulty curve for the rest of the game was reasonable and i beat the game with very little grinding until the elite four. at that point, the level of their pokemon curved up absurdly steeply compared to everything else thus far. in the elite four you have to go from fighting level 49 to level 62 pokemon. i’m pretty sure nowhere else in the entire game made a jump that big in what is essentially a single area... i only won cynthia’s fight when her obscenely overpowered garchomp missed a few attacks and i killed it by pure fluke, then spammed healing potions on giratina whilst it whittled things down with its massive hp pool and Pressure ability. the only way i could possibly beat cynthia in the end was a war of attrition, because all her pokemon were much faster and heavier hitting than mine. all of the elite four were difficult to varying degrees, but none like bertha and cynthia. if i ever have to see a pokemon use earthquake again i will cry. the big thing that annoys me ultimately about the elite four’s difficulty is that, i didn’t grind very much to that point. i did a little bit to level up garchomp enough, and i kept most of my early-game pokemon right to the end. if i beat the rest of the game doing a bit more than the bare minimum (i’d say i played a reasonable amount of the game?) and suddenly hit a brick wall and had to senselessly grind for aaages to get any further? I’d say the elite four have been poorly balanced in respect to the rest of the game, and should be reworked to be more appropriately levelled w the rest of sinnoh.

also i felt a bit awkward post-elite-four when i arrived in the battle zone, and the fights so far aren’t as hard as the elite four! i had to make it past an absurdly difficult hurdle that had me stumped for days if not weeks, and you’re telling me the area i unlocked actually goes back DOWN in level? i know it makes sense to not have an area full of people stronger than the champion of sinnoh, but... having to fight the champion to unlock it was a bugger. i bet not everyone in this area is a champion of a bloody region! (pls dont tell me they literally are in the lore. pleas no) 

but yeah that one annoying difficulty hurdle/brick wall aside, it was a good game!!! i really, really, REALLY enjoyed pokemon platinum and id love to play another pokemon game after this :D on the one hand i’d love to go to alola and catch up with the rest of you... but on the other hand there’s a lot of the other older games i should probably play too :33

My name is Mirabelle Buneary. I-I’m 23 years old and I-I’m a trans woman. I’m a h-human from the Sinnoh region. 

What would you say was your strongest / most potent characteristic*? 

M-my curiosity... I’ve always been excited to learn n-new things.

How would your friends describe you? 

Oh, well... I d-don’t have many friends. My family and the friends I’ve had in the past would probably say I’m quiet, b-but pretty excitable when it comes to learning new things. I-I don’t really like being around people because of everything that was said when I transitioned. A-and because I moved recently I haven’t really gone out and made new friends.

How would you describe your family? How many siblings, or parents, or other relations? Do you get along well with them?

I have five sisters back at home. T-they are the only people I would call my friends at the moment. I’m partially doing this because of them. I w-want to show them I can make it by myself. They’ve always been there to support me a-and let me be me. My mom is the best. She’s always worried about me and my sisters and will do anything to make sure we’re happy. My dad isn’t r-really around anymore. He left after my mom told him that no matter what he said I was his daughter now, not his son. I-I’d rather not talk about him...

Random bit of trivia about yourself, or your hobbies

My main hobby is w-writing. Although one day I’d like to m-make it my j-job. I also love to read. When my nose isn’t stuck in a book I like to go on long walks exploring the forest near my home. It’s so peaceful and there are a bunch of interesting creatures to watch.  Sorry... I-I guess I don’t do much...

Do you prefer spicy, sour, sweet, dry, or bitter food? What out of the five is your least favorite?

I like food that’s d-dry. I can’t stand sweet food though.  

Romantic past? Has there ever been anyone before Mimikyu, love life wise?

No, not really. I was always too afraid of what p-people would say to try and go on a date.

Do you like people that are strong willed?

I think a strong will is a good trait to have. I-It’s important to hold your ground and do what you b-believe is right.

Why did you enter this BC? Are you nervous? What do you hope to attain?

I’m r-really nervous, but Kealoha Mimikyu seems like a really interesting person that I would like to get to know. I-I hope that I can at least make a new friend and become a little less shy, through this. Someone to l-love would be a-amazing, but I don’t wanna get my hopes up...

HakoGaku Trainer Cards

Thoughts, explanations and pokemon that didn’t make it into the final version under the cut!

HakoGaku are the champions, so I figured they’d be a big deal in the pokemon world too and gave them one legendary per person even though I’m usually not a fan of it.

Fukutomi: He is strong. Therefore, he gets semi-legis, type variety and Mewtwo, one of the most OP pokemon of them all. His hair sort of looks like a lion mane so he gets Pyroar, and Carracosta of course is a reference to his pet turtle named Turtle. As the captain, he’s the only one who gets to be a champion, Lance is very cool okay.

Toudou: Did you expect his team to be anything less than fabulous? Lumineon is the prettiest pokemon in existence imo, and Alolan Ninetales gets pretty close. Greninja is there because he’s a forest ninja, Leavanny because he’s a mother hen and will always try to take care of everyone and make them eat healthily. Since he’s been blessed by god thrice, of course he had to get the one and only god of the pokemon world, the almighty Lord Helix. Virizion is beautiful too, it’s very fast and probably moves very silently, it fits his riding style very well. Tbh tho there were sooo many pokemon I still wanted to include on his team, liek Milotic was on it at first until I remembered Lumineon, Dragonair until I decided it was better for Manami... And any pretty/elegant pokemon fits him, Liligant, Mismagius, Gardevoir, the list goes on. Considered Articuno and Suicune for him too. Plus I sort of wanted to give him something traditionally Japanese, like Frosslass or Chimecho but there was just no space... Flygon was also an option, it looks beautiful but got Maki’s colour scheme, plus it’d make a nice pair with Manami’s Altaria. Eusine I chose because his bowtie/cape combination is very unique but he totally rocks it, just like Toudou with his headband, plus he just has a Toudou expression.

Shinkai: Buneary is obviously a reference to Usakicchi (he will never let it evolve it’s his baby), Slurpuff and Snorlax are because he’s constantly eating, Chansey looks very nice and is very nice but if you ever had to battle one you will hate it forever it’s so annoyingly strong. Houndoom is the closest to a demon pokemon we got, and we know Shinkai isn’t all smiles all the time, I’d imagine battling him would be a nightmare. Xerneas is the pokemon of life, and he values that very much, so it fits him perfectly. I was very unsure whether I should give him Buneary or Bunnelby, but I think a pampered bunny fits him better. Deciding on an icon for him was pretty difficult too, I’m not perfectly happy with Flint but at least he’s both nice/loyal and strong so he’s got the basics right.

Arakita: Dark types are perfect for him! Scrafty as the hoodlum pokemon of course had to be on his team, while Incineroar also shows his love for cats (you can bet he picked up a tiny Litten and loved it very much so it turned into a giant wrestler for him). Mightyena and Luxray are about as close as we get to wolves, and Luxray got X-Ray-vision, meaning it’s got a sense most have not, just like Arakita with his smell that tells him way more than it should. Tyrantrum is mostly there because of its name, a tyrant throwing a tantrum is exactly what Arakita is most of the time XD Hoopa I like as a legendary for him because it looks all scary and strong but occasionally it turns tiny, fun and mischeavous. Krookodile and Midnight Lycanroc would also fit him, if there was more space on the team. Yveltal would be a possible legendary for him too, it’s dark type and pairs up with Shinkai’s Xerneas :3 Sidney as a punk that made it very far in life fits Arakita too, and I just love the pose in this particular sprite.

Izumida: Machamp and Hariyama can be his workout buddies, I bet he even names their muscles and everything. Same goes for Buzzwole, what better legendary could there be for Izumida? Aegislash is supposed to be his perfectly honed weapon, while Escavalier just straight up has a spear, so that’s that. Bruxish may seem weird, but I chose it for its strong eyelash game and I do not regret my choice. Tbh most fighting types fit him, so I mostly just decided on random which to put on his team :D I’m sorry he’s the only one to end up with a random NPC, but navy guy is just very fit and dutiful and nobody else was a better pick, so yeah.

Manami: In general, I wanted him to seem a bit weaker than the rest, but already a threat and on the way to catching up. Altaria and Dragonair are there for the same reason - they’ve got wings, a mythical aura and the right colour scheme. Technically, Dragonair’s wings fit Manami’s better, but it might still evolve. Altaria though I love as his first pokemon, like he spent so much time in bed and a fluffy, gentle Swablu to cuddle with would be the perfect companion, or so his parents thought, and then it turned into a badass fairy dragon (with even more fluff). Phantump... well, remember him saying he couldn’t leave anyone who needed help in the mountains? He can’t leave them even if they’re already dead, so he’s got this adorable baby he found in the forest on his team <3 Comfey and Floette are both cute and soft fairy types that can both fight very well in their own way, and Comfey could’ve helped with Manami’s illness too. As for Jirachi, Manami’s got pretty much just this one wish that he’d sacrifice everything for to fulfill, and Jirachi embodies that very well. But choosing a legendary for him was terribly difficult, let me tell you. Articuno fits, wings, colour, appearance. Celebi fits, forest guardian, adorable but strong. Suicune fits, runs with the wind, connected with nature/purifies water, right colours. Shaymin fits, change from shy and slow to active and able to fly, looks like a smaller version of virizion. Keldeo fits, canonically tiny legendary trying to catch up to group of bigger legendaries, including Virizion, right colour scheme. Victini fits, tiny asshole burning through everything for victory. So yeah. I had some trouble deciding. Wally though was a super easy pick as an icon, he’s a sick kid that ends up very strong but still looks adorable.

Badges were even more random this time, Manami got Kanto to match with Onoda and Toudou got Johto since it seems the most traditionally Japanese region but that’s it.
