#i lov eu so much

see i love doctor who the tv show so i don't want to spend loads of time and money on the expanded universe if it's going to ruin my favourite show for me

extremely fair however

- theres loads of dedicated fans out there that have collected a bunch of old and new expanded universe stuff so you do not have to spend an outrageous amount of money. i read all the eight doctor adventure books for free and plan to do the same with the virgin new adventures. same with the audio dramas :3

- i only give doctor who the show (specifically the reboot) so much shit bcuz the expanded universe scratches a specific kind of itch for me. i prefer the eu cuz its generally darker in its themes and delivery. i prefer stories that make u feel like ur chest is gonna cave in from dread and anxiety.

i specifically enjoy the eight doctor adventures book series so much bcuz i genuinely think doctor who works much better as a book series than a tv show. i think the written word captures the absolute chaos and wonder that is the world of doctor who so well. theres also no budget to worry about so they can make it as crazy as they want and itll still work.

and then it does the opposite too. more soft and tender domestic moments, more moments where they're still going thru shit from their last adventure. more of the tardis thats shown!! bcuz no budget!!!

i lov delving into the companions and the doctors inner thoughts and monologue as they go on their adventures, all the things that they dont or cant say out loud to each other. you cant rly get that on tv! it aint the same!

overall, i do like the show, a lot! but i just specifically love what the expanded universe has got going on. its less that the show is 'ruined' for me and more i see the potential of the show that they dont do more with. my only real complaint with the show right now is that the seasons needs to be longer with more episodes and that it needs to be weirder.

but i still have fun :3c
