I had no idea you could do this in Minecraft.

Feinberg was playing All Advancements.  He left the nether after getting blaze rods and pearls, but realized once in the overworld that he’d done his axis calculation incorrectly and was both a hundred blocks from the stronghold and underground.  To save time, he returned to the nether and built another portal in the correct location, hoping to spawn inside the stronghold.  However, the portals linked, putting him right back where he started.

So he tried this.  As much as I like explanations and like speedrunning, I have no real idea how this works.  Apparently you can destroy the portal you are leaving from if you break it at exactly the right moment before you are transported to the new dimension.  After a few tries, it worked, he jogged over to the second portal he’d built earlier, and it didn’t link.  Right into the stronghold as calculated.

[Transcript:

Feinberg: Can I unlink it if I do this like perfectly?  One, two --  (tries several times, on the fourth try it works, the “glass breaking” sound is cut off as the teleport happens)  I got it, I got it off.  I did it, I actually did it.  (spawns in stronghold) Hah! (laughs) I actually did it.]

Grian’s MCC 17 Buildmart VOD is an actual master class in the game.  Look at this shit.

You think Buildmart is a slow game?  Not if you’re watching Grian, it’s not.

Grian is a fantastic leader for this game.  He is constantly pushing everyone else forward, but he doesn’t organize so much as he reacts, acting more like the shot caller on a good PVP team than like a project manager. He takes in information from all over and sends it back out again prioritized and coherent and above all, *fast*.  

He pays a heavy price for this.  One thing that surprised me is that he makes a ton of mistakes.  He’s constantly making mistakes.  But it doesn’t matter, the efficiency that he promotes powers through and over-rides the flaws.  Have a build in progress that needs a couple out of the way blocks?  He’s already out the door to get them.  Build is sitting there with blocks in the chest but not yet placed?  He’s filling them in.  

False and Pete are incredible support builders.  Unlike Grian who is everywhere, they stay more focused.  They communicate clearly what they need when their own efforts fall short, they don't clutter comms with extraneous noise, and they get the blocks on the platform fast.  The supply chest is always full of the basics -- that’s not magic either, it's SB, who took Grian’s broad instructions at the start, flowed seamlessly into responding to the builders’ needs, and then went right back to more general tasks when he found himself without anything to do.  

It feels fast, and in the end it is fast.  They turn out to be in first by almost 1000 points.
