discussing the prewett familys canon info and speculating off of it !! (and also a tangent about felix rosier and google being ridiculous)

people headcannon gideon and fabian to do pranks as well as the marauders… that was mentioned in atyd and i posted about the quote and i started rambling about them… came up with an idea i actually like and have been thinking about them nonstop.

so the prewetts consist of gideon and fabian (twins), and molly. HOWEVER the harry potter wiki itself says that billius prewett could be another sibling, or is a sibling in law. not sure, but something to keep in mind bc we can’t have another lost sibling.

(referring to felix rosier… ive looked this up before and google told me that YES, they are brothers. i have been living my life since thinking that YES they are brothers. i’ve even seen people saying YES they are on tiktok. but i googled it just now to make sure… and with what i’m reading right now it’s saying that felix rosier is evan rosiers son. and um?? if we’re continuing with the hc that evan was in regulus’ year…. that would have made evan be a father at age 8. so i’m saying that’s false and that they’re still just brothers.) (that was not at all necessary to this post but thought it was interesting and funny.)

anyway, i said yesterday that what if molly was involved with her brothers pranks… and maybe were even her idea, who knows? and with her living through both of their deaths, pranks remind her of them and she grows to resent said pranks. explains fred and george stuff in canon. and she maybe blames part of herself for their death because of it… “if i hadn’t been such a distraction to them, maybe they would’ve studied harder, could’ve been stronger and protected themselves” type of deal? explains more with fred and george. terrified history would repeat itself!! i think thats so interesting and i would love to just build upon any idea of them.

so the three of them are literally cousins to sirius and regulus through marriage. lucretia black (orions sister) married ignatius prewett (who is gid, fab, and mollys uncle) sirius could hate them just because they’re related and it could start an amazing prank war and friendship. like hello?? its right there.

and very interesting fact !! LUCRETIA WAS NOT DISOWNED FOR MARRYING HIM? even though alot of the prewetts would’ve been considered blood traitors (bc they are sacred 28) which is weird because the black family marries through status. which makes me thinkkk that maybe ignatius himself could have been REALLY powerful and therefore known as himself and not just a prewett or wtv so he was accepted in??? maybe he joined their side of the war and that helped… that could be so interesting…

molly named her son after him literally?? percy ignatius weasley. so assuming they were close at one point?? maybe he just meant a lot to her in life but after the wedding there was a falling out… she realizes how much he truly had changed. so we could say she names percy after him to commemorate the person he used to be?

and maybe molly resents lucretia for “changing” her uncle…. and therefore by extension has a distaste for sirius because that’s his aunt. it adds depth to her yelling at him in canon….

and the last name prewett is welsh in origin and i know not everyone enjoys the welsh remus headcannon… but a connection could be there!! imagine remus knowing them before school? i like to think they’re a tiny bit older than all the marauders, so imagine an older sibling dynamic? them all taking scrawny little loser nerd boy remus under their wings. and not at all a good influence, but we love them regardless. (and i say loser and nerd affectionately, i am one too ok… hes so me)

hope lupin would LOVE them. molly coming over to help hope bake. that’s an adorable thought.

and because of all of that !!! this is more wolfstar with the prewetts, but imagine a fic where welsh prewetts and welsh remus are friends and remus is at their house…

now imagine that walburga is just SO done with sirius that she sends him off to live with his aunt lucretia for a bit because she and ignatius don’t have kids of their own and they can handle it ig?? (never had kids in canon either btw)

and maybe sirius is acting out… doesn’t want to be there either obviously. he doesn’t like his aunt, and doesn’t like ignatius in relation.

and imagine ignatius still trying his best to still have some type of relationship with his niece and nephews despite the differences…

and so he goes to visit them and he takes sirius because 1 he isn’t trusted to be on his own right now because mr chaos and trouble follows me everywhere and 2 because maybe it’ll be good for him to spend a little time around people closer to his age. and he meets remus and they fall in love and blahblahblah kicking my feet and blushing !

going to try and make an actual headcannon post later, this is just stuff i found in canon that could link into the marauders so there’s a start yk? i would love love love to see them as super depth heavy characters

This is a theory I crafted up about the Golden Order, the Crucible, and the Frenzied Flame shortly after I beat the dlc the first time. I wrote it down, and forgot about it until just now, so it’ll be a little bit less well researched, seeing as it’s from waaay before the wiki had info to pull from, and so is probably shaky by our understanding of the dlc today, but I still wanted to share.

Spoilers for Shadow of the Erdtree below!

The Golden Order, the Crucible, and the Frenzied Flame are all the same thing.

So, this is one of the wilder theories, though hopefully not Pepe Silvia levels of conspiracy. If Marika can be Radagon, and if Miquella could be St. Trina, why can’t the Greater Will be the Frenzied Flame?

Throughout Elden Ring, we find out that that the Golden order assimilated a lot of things into it, even things that seem contradictory to the teachings of the Erdtree, like Carian sorcery. One of its primary teachings is that all things can be conjoined.

(Mirial dialogue upon getting a book o’ miracles)

“Oh, what have we here? Very well, let us both learn together. Heresy is not native to the world; it is but a contrivance. All things can be conjoined."

Now, this alone doesn’t mean much, the Golden Order is just branching out and adopting other cultures teachings like a lot of religions do to assimilate more followers, rather than fusing everything by melting it down with flame.

One more thing to keep in mind for later before we leave the Golden Order side of things, the DLC revealed something interesting about the Two Fingers, and the Golden Order. That even before the time Marika became a god, the Fingers had stopped receiving word from the Greater Will to guide them. The entire order is built on a lie, and no one in the Lands Between have communed with the Greater Will in a very, very long time.

Meanwhile, the DLC has the Hornsent, people who worshipped the Crucible, which came before Marika’s Golden Order. Anyone who has entered the various gaols knows the horrors they inflicted. The Hornsent believed that blending life together was a holy act, and massacred Marika’s people to put them into jars as saints, because of how easily their flesh melded with others. Now we’re getting closer to the premise of this theory. But take a look a this:

This is a manifestation of the Erdtree's primal vital energies - an aspect of the primordial crucible, where all life was once blended together.

The Erdtree seems to have some ties to the Crucible’s energies, which ties the two together on some level. Conjoining all things, and blending life together. And do you know what a crucible is? A crucible is a container used in smithing that you melt things in to blend them into one, heated over an open flame.

Hyetta has some interesting dialogue as well at the end of her questline:

"All that there is came from the One Great. Then came fractures, and births, and souls.

But the Greater Will made a mistake. Torment, despair, affliction... every sin, every curse. Every one, born of the mistake.

And so, what was borrowed must be returned. Melt it all away, with the yellow chaos flame. Until all is One again."

Note that she says the Greater Will made a mistake, in a way that implies that it’s something the Greater Will is fixing. It broke one into all, now it has to be made one again through the yellow chaos flames. The same Greater Will that the Two Fingers can no longer contact. Except for the Three Fingers, who seem to have found a different god to listen to. Or perhaps they found the same one, and are just doing what they were made to do, follow the Greater Will’s orders, and help burn down the world.

The Greater Will is order, and the Frenzy is Chaos, and I think they came from the same place. Two sides of the same coin, two halves of a whole being, and one of them isn’t listening or reaching out anymore. Much like Miquella stuffed St. Trina in a cave at the deepest part of the world, The Frenzied Flame has cut off the Greater Will to fix their mistake and melt it all down, back into one. It just needs a way to worm its ideology into the minds of men. Perhaps a religion is introduced that familiarized people with the concept of conjoining things, until it gets more and more extreme, and the frenzy appears, ripe in their minds. In the Shadow Lands, a place where physically conjoining flesh is the norm, the Frenzied Flame seems to have considerably more influence in comparison to the Lands Between, infecting an entire region of the map of the DLC, and even having a failed Lord of Frenzied Flame as a boss.

I swear I’m not a conspiracy nut, but if I come off as mad, well… MAY CHAOS TAKE THE WORLD! AHAHAHAHA!

his actual problem (shit manager aside) is that he can't deal with the pressure of being the face of the band. like yeah, everybody plays their part, but he's the leader. if he wasn't the one fully in the limelight, he'd be better off, but he doesn't realise that yet <3

so this sent me into a whole thing trying to figure out what this was talking about, since i love it when there's female grunts in things and i was reasonably confident that i had seen pretty much all developmental pigmask-related things there were to find

now, it's not like i need some vague unused sprite to justify myself imagining female pigmasks, since, like, there's only a couple explicitly male pigmasks too, but still, i wanted to get to the bottom of this

but try as i might, i could not freaking find anything about this anywhere else

so i started checking the history of the wiki article to see when that info was added it seems like it was first added on september 10th, 2010, by an anonymous user, in this form:

okay welp that was a really disheartening bust no indication of what the video was, no images or anything

the line was trimmed down later on, first removing the video link, then the sexism part, and finally became its current form

so i decided to take a different approach i know pigmask stuff pretty well, so i figured i could try and deduce what it is they're referring to it's a sprite, of a yellow pigmask, seemingly with breasts hm

so let's see in the game, the only "yellow pigmask" is the mask boney wears in thunder tower, which doesn't really count the garbage collector pigmasks wear yellow vests that have a small line on the chest, but that's a pretty big stretch

for unused stuff specifically (i could imagine someone not remembering the vest pigmasks and confusing them for unused content, but let's give them the benefit of the doubt), we have this strange pigmask graphic

yellow, unused, and maybe someody's interpreting that line on the left as the shape of breasts, but idk there's an unused palette swap of a navy squeal, which is yellow, and perhaps someone could mistake the folds of the clothes for a chest, but i'm doubtful

and finally i thought of this picture from the 15th anniversary of the game, which features a yellow pigmask with a sort of weird-looking chest, but unfortunately the timeline doesn't match up

that's sadly where my search ended, my best guess is that they meant the weird-looking sketchy graphic, but i can't say for sure no idea if there ever was a legitimate source for that info, but they're not even trying to source it now and it really bugs me

they grew up in a village full of humans that's a closed off society of people devoted to their deity called mwezi and was the only tiefling in it (their actual home village got burnt down when they were super little so they don't remember it)(I don't want to say they grew up in a cult but it like Borders on Being One)(you need permission to leave the village for example)

their religion has like, 4 different levels of initiation, sephiroth's currently on 2nd and to gain the 3rd they must embark on a journey up north (reason for their current location in the campaign)

the religion is centered around moon, water and reflections (twilight domain) and is considered a heresy in our world

sephiroth is very cheerful, Extremely annoying (love them) and outgoing, lawful neutral alignment

their life before the events of the campaign was a good and happy one, they thrived in the village (despite not being seen very fondly by all of its residents but they aren't the brightest when it comes to social interactions so they didn't mind) and have a best friend called m'pya who's a complete opposite of them

m'pya is bored of her life in the village and would much rather leave, is still stuck on "level 1" (most people rank up to 2nd around the age of 18, m'pya's 21, sephiroth did when they were 14 😭)

before sephiroth left the village to embark on their journey they had an argument with m'pya and left without saying goodbye :-( last session we leveled up to lvl 5 and i got to send her a sending spell message and i was so :-((((( my shaylas...

tbh writing about their relationship with other party members would take ages but there's a bit on a wiki me and my friends are working on (it's an Extreme Work In Progress)

in last session they also met mwezian devotees from up north who are water genasi twins (austa and aunen) and BRO IT'S SO GOOD... the dm is so freaking evil... austa is very similar in her personality to sephiroth, in the way she's a know-it-all when it comes to mwezi and tries to show off, and her and her brother are like The perfect examples of what [a water goddess focused on reflections] would want and it's the complete opposite of sephiroth and man it's sooo 💨💨💨

honestly it's the most difficult to talk about them because we're 6 sessions in so there's actually the most info I have about them but I'd have to summarize the ENTIRE campaign for it to make sense 😭

the continent he and other pcs are on is currently taken over by war of two sides, each representing one deity (one of life and one of death)

kieł isn't on any of the sides, he dgaf 🔥 but he's a mail carrier in the areas of higher danger, only caring about making enough money to survive

he grew up in an abusive household and has 11 siblings, after his last sibling - a sister - was born, his mother took her and escaped her husband, kieł hates his father more than anyone in the world and has Many conflicting feelings about his mother

his original name isn't kieł as it is just a nickname given by his two older siblings that he now uses as he wishes to not associate with anything related to his name nor surname

as soon as he reached adulthood (which was not long after his mother left) he also left, trying to just live on his own

no job was really sticking to him, he'd make the most money in taverns drunkenly playing the piano (which wasn't really much) until after the war broke out, someone tasked him with delivering a little thing to somewhere and it worked

he'd been delivering for a few months now which was a record for him, when he fell into a trap when taking a shortcut (dumbass)(it is mentioned that due to the fact that the deities got involved in the war there's been weird creatures of magic sources appearing) and he got his leg stuck in a trap meant for those

he was found and saved by his now patron (I wrote like 3k words for their first meeting I could talkkk) she's called Lady Dove and she's a lovely but stern lady :-) a bit like a mother :-) heh :-) but yeah she's not inherently evil, I like when patrons aren't evil...

because of her influence, kieł is constantly followed by pigeons (I use them as a visual gag for his spells and levels) (he has 5 pigeons following him rn because he's on 5th)(healing light is just a pigeon flying up and sitting on someone)(I love pigeons)

kieł is a very "using spells how I feel" rather than "learning how to use them" type of guy, he just kinda casts whatever and hopes it'll work (also a bird whistle is his arcane focus and he's so annoying with it)

a random fun fact is that he has a masquerade tattoo that he once got when him and a sorcerer he has been seeing at a bar for a while got drunk and the sorcerer decided to give him a tattoo (the way this guy's magic works is that he's covered in tattoos and each tattoo represents and allows him to cast different spells that he knows) the tattoo was originally supposed to allow him to cast alter self but because they were drunk he can only cast disguise self 😭

ilyana silverbough (36) a harengon druid of the arctic circle of land

the world her story is set in is getting gradually covered in permafrost although she's not as aware of its consequence as she's lived in the snowy areas her whole life

(cw brief mentions of grooming [not going into details] and getting severely injured)

I based her appearance off of an arctic hare!! :D

ilyana comes from a family of circus performers, belonging to a group who traveled with their performances around the northern side of the world, in the more frozen areas, her speciality was juggling

she has two older sisters

when ilyana was 18, she found out that the owner of the circus, a much older man who had already been an adult when they were born, had proposed to her oldest sister who he had been swaying for years

upon finding this out, ilyana just straight up kills him but gets shunned out by the people of the circus, her sister shoots her in the leg, ilyana starts running

powered by sheer adrenaline she just runs straight ahead without really any plan until her body gives up and she collapses to the ground

after she hits the ground, she kinda has an out of body experience where she sees a unicorn, it feels like a vivid dream

after she regains consciousness, not really sure how much time has passed, she lays down in snow and is found by a young firbolg, hrok'tar :-), around her age

he's been picking up wood with his father, they pick her up and bring her to the local satyr doctor, who chops off her leg because it's beyond saving :-(

ilyana finds out that the village she's in operates on laws of "service for exchange of service", money holds no real value to residents of this place, so to repay she joins the satyr doctor (who's a lovely older lady) and helps her around, discovering that she has magic within her now

the way her circle of druids works is that there's one druid representing each section of the land circle and they all get chosen by the unicorn and she's the current active representative of the arctic land, so the circle is quite small

as her years go by she closely befriends 3 other people (morgana, elara and eldric) and of course hrok'tar who she became best friends very fast as soon as she appeared in the village

they form a guild (it's more of a group of vigilantes but guild sounds cool) called the almiraj guild (see what I did there), each person grabs the inspiration for their magic and/or style of fighting from different creatures (hrok'tar - hippogriff, elara - owlbear, eldric - displacer beast, morgana - faerie dragon) and they're best buddies i love themm :-(

her helmet is made out of unmelting ice, shout-out vio for this idea :-)

A few footsteps were heard when you called for him, and within seconds, he was right at the kitchen door, a worrying face evident in his features.

Yes Liebling? What’s wrong?

Ah, nothing much; we ran out of mayonnaise and a few other items for the dinner I’m making tonight. Can you run to the store and get them for me?

Konig nodded as he quietly walked towards you and took your hand gently.

Do you have a list?

Yeah, hold on.

You quickly take out a piece of paper and scribble down the ingredients needed, fold it neatly, and hand it to him. You think for a moment before smiling as you pat his arm.

Grab some dessert on your way home as well, my treat.

You finish by giving him some cash as his eyes brighten up and he chuckles.

Okay, thank you. I’ll make sure to be back as soon as I can, my Liebling.

You give him a peck on the cheek as he wears his hood and wave him goodbye once he goes into the car. You go back into the kitchen and prepare the other necessary preparations, such as seasoning and washing, before wiping your hands clean.

You decided that since there was extra time and you had to wait for Konig to return with the groceries, you might as well do other chores. You head into the master bedroom, which both of you shared, and open the closets, taking out a few of his military suits and laying them on the bed. It had been awhile since you looked through and iron them since most of his outfits are at the base, so it was refreshing to glance back at the series of uniforms he had.

You run your hands along the combat shirt and pants he had before, smiling when you see the clear difference in sizes over the years. He does still like wearing his black tactical Cyre G3 combat shirt, but what you really like is his Colonel uniform.

You lift it up as you examine it closely, tracing over the different badges and insignia sewed onto the uniform. You chuckle when you recall the memory of when he came home in it.

My dear! Wow, look at you all fancy and looking important! You give a whistle and chuckle as you quickly greet him and stare at him excitedly. Ah, please don't, my Liebling, this is embarrassing… Konig said as he quickly undressed and tossed the uniform onto the floor. But you’re the Colonel! Isn’t that, like, a great achievement in the military? Konig didn't reply as he sighed and kissed your hair; he didn't make any more comments about it, and you never brought it up since it bothered him, not until two days later during the late hours. You felt him rolling to your side as he slung his arm around your waist and pulled you close. I don’t like being one; it brings too much attention to myself. He mumbles as he buries his head into your neck, and you nod in understanding after making sense of what he was talking about and cooed him back to sleep.

But it looks so cool.

You thought to yourself as you looked at the collar, lined with delicate gold arabesques, as it shimmered under the light. You give a hum before you let the impulsive thought win and decide to wear it.

Truthfully, you’re also quite tall yourself thanks to your family’s genes, standing proudly at 6 ft tall(185cm), while Konig is just a few more inches taller around 6.6 ft tall(roughly at 200cm). It’s perfect because you can easily kiss his cheek without much effort and watch him blush hard every single time. He’s never gotten used to having someone who can stare at him the way you do so openly and with ease.

You decided that if you’re going to wear something this extravagant, you might as well go full out. So you promptly remove your shirt and wear the uniform carefully. It wasn’t comfortable due to how rigid the cloth felt against your skin, and the pants were a bit longer, but once you glanced at the mirror, you were quite proud and shocked at how good it looked on you, and it fits well, surprisingly. Well, everything except the sleeves. As always, it was also a bit too long and ended on your knuckles, so you just folded them up.

An idea pops into your mind the more you stare at yourself in the mirror.

You give a hum of amusement as you twirl and stretch around, giggling when you decide to imitate your boyfriend. You take a moment to recall the times when you got to watch his demonstration practice and smirk as you start acting alert and put on your serious game face. You hold up your arms in the air as you imagine yourself holding a rifle and mutter in a deep voice.

Target secured, attack the HVT!

You say this before twisting around and making the "pew pew" sound with your hand, giggling and chuckling as you completely get lost in the moment, then you crouch down beside the bed and pretend to resume a hiding position as you mutter softly.

And they say I could never be a sniper.

You make another dramatic "pow" sound before standing up and sliding to the center of the room with a "hyah!" and standing up, glancing around until you notice a tall figure at the bedroom door that you forgot to close. You instantly stop and freeze at your place as a blush creeps up your face.

Having fun, Mein Schatz?

You let out a huff of embarrassment for being caught like this, and you felt your neck heat up as you gave a sheepish smile.

I erm- Konig-

Scheiße, Sieh dich an... Shit, look at you...

He mutters as he slowly walks towards you; each step felt calculative, so slow as you watched his eyes that kept you in place. You can’t glance away, something about his gaze feels hypnotic.

Something about the way he looks at you makes you shutter; it's intimidating but also….primal…which is kind of hot. As he finally stands in front of you, so close that your chest bumps into his, he tilts his head to one side.

I hated this uniform, but now that I see you wear it, hmmmm…

His voice is deep and drawn out as he circles you, almost like a predator studying its prey. You gulped nervously as you tucked your collar in and answered back with a meek tone.

Should I take it off?

He gives you a long thought as he stands behind you. As soon as his hands are on you, he immediately carries and tosses you to the bed as you yelp at the sudden motion.

K-Konig?

You ask as you watch him crawl towards you as he reveals a smirk, then opens his mouth and lazily runs his tongue over his teeth as he gives a deep chuckle.

No, keep it on, because I...will be the one removing it.

You swallow excitedly as you bite your lips and rest your head on the soft pillow, under his mercy as he towers over you.

Who cares about dinner anyway?

So what's the deal with everybody's favorite spoopy mirror Mitsumo?

It's been a while since my last post, hasn't it? I'm glad to be back doing another one

I've been busy with my Len'en Tweet Collection project recently, a thorough translation of all tweets related to JynX and Len'en! Check it out if you'd like, but it is mainly just for archival purposes, any info will be logged on the Len'en wiki eventually.

Now! Back to our topic of the day. One might think that there won't be much going for this stage 1 boss, especially since they don't even contribute to the world-building much, unlike Souko.

I thought that would be the case as well, but as I did my research, I found that there's actually still quite a bit to go through with them. So, let us take a dive into this silly-looking mirror and their tagalong!

Visualized Mental Scars — Mitsumo (and Terumi!)

Name: Mitsumo

The name Mitsumo (照雲) is a simple one, comprised of two kanji meaning "illuminate" (照) and "cloud" (雲) respectively.

These are likely taken from the first kanji in shouyoukou (照妖鏡) and ungaikyou (雲外鏡) respectively, the type of object Mitsumo is/inhabits, and the youkai Mitsumo is based on. More on them later.

Name: Terumi

Terumi (輝美), Mitsumo's little tagalong, also has a simple name, the two kanji meaning "shine" (輝) and "beauty" (美) respectively. This name is also a pun on the Japanese word for "mirror", kagami (鏡), as the two kanji can be read as kaga and mi respectively.

Background: Evil-illuminating Mirror

The only concrete piece of information we have about Mitsumo, is that they are a "evil-illuminating mirror" youkai.

An "evil-illuminating mirror" (照妖鏡 CN: zhàoyāojìng JP: shoumakyou) refers to enchanted mirrors originating from Chinese legends that are able to reveal a youkai's true form or magic.

In Japanese tales, they're more often known as "demon-illuminating mirrors" (照魔鏡 shoumakyou) or "youkai-felling mirrors" (降妖鏡 gouyoukyou).

And that's all we know about Mitsumo. Notably, it's not even clear whether they are the mirror itself or a spirit inhabiting the mirror.

Abilities

Project Trauma

Mitsumo is known to have two major abilities, chief amongst them is their ability to "project trauma".

The verb used in the original Japanese is utsusu (映す), which refers to the action of a mirror capturing a reflection and showing its image upon its surface. But also to project something, like onto a TV screen or onto a wall.

So we can surmise that Mitsumo is able to show whoever looks into them their greatest trauma, destroying their minds and taking them over as a vessel.

When this happens, that headband with the tiny mirror apparently manifests on their victims head, and Mitsumo gains total control over them. This is needed because, being a mirror, Mitsumo cannot move by themself much, and thus requires assistance.

Producing Clouds

As we can see in BPoHC though, Mitsumo and Terumi ride on a tower of clouds to fly about and fight the protagonists.

This is revealed in a Kanae stream to be an ability they employ when they're getting ready to fight, as it allows them quick escape should their vessel get struck down in battle.

However, this apparently consumes much youkai energy, so Mitsumo prefers to avoid using it if they can.

Mythological Basis: Ungaikyou

Mitsumo is likely based on the ungaikyou (雲外鏡 mirror beyond the clouds), a youkai first seen in the 18th century artist Toriyama Sekien's Illustrated Bag of One Hundred Housewares (百器徒然袋).

Not much is known about the original ungaikyou, not even what it can do, simply that it exists, at least according to Toriyama.

However, as you can see from the illustration, the mirror rests on a tower of clouds (or mirror stand that is designed to look like clouds), and has a rather silly face in the mirror.

This design is quite heavily reflected in Mitsumo, with the clouds they produce and the many eyes on the mirror.

Origins

The accompanying text for this entry reads:

In my dreams, I thought to myself, "The so called 'evil-illuminating mirror' is able to capture upon its surface the forms of various bizarre things, so when I think about what happens when its shadow is captured, what came to me was this youkai."

It is frankly unclear what Toriyama means by this, though what is agreed on is that this likely suggests:

This youkai is likely invented by Toriyama, if inspired by a dream.

This youkai is likely based on the evil-illuminating mirror.

Not much can be gleaned from this, so we could try turning to its name instead. Ungaikyou, the "mirror beyond the clouds".

It's been suggested that perhaps the name is a reference to the Classic of Mountains and Seas (山海經), read sengaikyou in Japanese. It's a classical Chinese text that notably features a great number of descriptions of Chinese youkai, over 350 of them.

Additionally, it's been suggested that the "beyond the clouds" bit of its name refers to the "clear skies", which is further a metaphor for how the evil-illuminating mirror is able to reveal the true form of things, unobstructed by illusions.

Abilities

While Toriyama does not give any description to what the ungaikyou actually does, later writers have expanded upon the youkai and gave it a variety of somewhat similar abilities.

In the 1997 Dictionary of the Monster (幻想動物事典) by Takumi Kusano (草野巧), he gives the ungaikyou the ability to "show humans the image of a youkai they could become".

In the Illustrated Compendium of Youkai (図説　妖怪辞典) by "Youkai dot com" (妖怪ドットコム), the ungaikyou is given the ability to "control other youkai whose form has been reflected in the mirror".

These two abilities can be seen to combine into Mitsumo's ability, showing whoever peers into them a horrifying sight and then taking over their body.

Nature

As mentioned, there's not much we can tell from Toriyama's original depiction, but many later interpretations group it, and in fact every youkai in this book, into a group of youkai known as tsukumogami.

The word tsukumogami (付喪神 gods/spirits that posses [things that are] ruin[ed]) has been applied to applied to many different things, so what it specifically refers to isn't exactly 100% clear-cut.

In general though, the modern understanding is that they are objects that have existed for 100 years and thus become alive, gaining a spirit of its own.

For the most part, modern interpretation of the ungaikyou considers it a tsukumogami, often of an evil-illuminating mirror.

While there are 2 major examples that differ from this, they clearly do not relate to Mitsumo, so I've elected to omit them.

As far as I can tell, there's nothing that directly indicates that Mitsumo is actually an ungaikyou, let alone a tsukumogami, so there's nowhere we can really go with this, unfortunately.

Mini Theory: What is Mitsumo?

I have a small, not very substantiated theory about Mitsumo that I thought I might as well share anyways.

This theory is based on 2 major facts:

Mitsumo seemingly has a torii shrine gate with them, though warped in a malicious direction, judging by the horns.

Mirrors have long been objects of worship in Japan, popular as shintai, an object in which the gods' spirits dwell, at Shinto shrines.

My little theory goes, that Mitsumo was once worshiped as some sort of god, likely thanks to them being an evil-illuminating mirror, helpful in combating youkai and dispelling evil.

Mitsumo could have been a god that dwelled in the mirror, or they could simply be the mirror's own consciousness once it got old enough and gained a spirit.

Nevertheless, when worship of Mitsumo eventually faded away, they felt betrayed by his followers. These negative feelings eventually boiled over, corrupting them and transforming them into a youkai.

It is, after all, often said that youkai and gods are two sides of the same coin, the difference being only in whether they're worshipped by humans or not. Sometimes, one being can even be both at the same time.

That's all this theory is, that Mitsumo was a god whose worship faded, their resentment towards this transforming them into the malicious youkai that we know today.

Ending

And that's all I've got on Mitsumo, not a lot, but not little either.

They're a rather straight-forward character, all things considered, and yet they still have an air of mystery about them, it's the wonderful charm of Len'en, really. Let's hope that we'll get to learn more about them in the future~!

This is decently specific to me: I have a younger dead sibling and idia is just i can relate just so hard to bc of that one fact, (gets out the idia journal) we were around the same age when our siblings died we think we both got them killed through harmless fun comments and just having someone so close to you as your younger sibling die at a young age kinda fucks with you and stuff idrk whats going on but something is

we both have social anxiety i don't think mine is as bad but if i had the option to just talk through a tablet i would, especially in certain situations where i'll freeze up (aka talking to any waiter ever) I genuinely a lot better when im there for someone else that has so we could have a symbiotic relationship for social situations

They were red in the face, as the two of them rushed through the streets of Gothenburg. Men and police still hot on thier tail.

Sverige looked to the man running in front of him.

Finland.

Suomi!

His beloved, finally free from Russia's iron grip! But also, independent, just as free from himself.

Ever since the Treaty of Hamina, Sverige had longed for Finland to become his again.

A bit more than 100 years have passed, including the great war, and Finland did not return.

Suomi did.

Brave and independent Suomi returned to Sverige, not as a property, as ownership, but as a friend and finally a lover.

Suomi always had the wildest ideas. Even back in the days of the Swedish Empire, he'd would just up and go on hikes and tracks, adventures impossible for humans.

Sverige had invited Suomi to a dinner at the Gothenburg Museum to a very special dinner service inside of a taxidermied whale. A blue whale, the biggest out there. It was supposed to be a symbol to the newly independent and post civil War nation.

A symbol saying you are one of us. You are Nordic, you belong to us.

A selfish thought, maybe. But Sverige was still envious of Finlands gaze forwards the east. He was still mad about the deep claws the Russian empire had left in Finland.

And he wanted to symbolise an oath. An oath of protection and unity for Suomi against the rising red wave coming from Moscow.

But out of nowhere during the dinner, Suomi whispers to him. Giving him crude ideas, an adventurous endeavour set inside of this whale. Like Jona, being saved inside of the whale, waiting out the storm.

Thus, the scheme had cemented itself into Sverige's brain. Not even a second, he was free from the idea of embracing the wonderful Suomi. Free from the desire.

He planned everything out in detail. Got a copy of the keys to the museum and made sure the guard of duty would be too drunk to do his job. Then he had brought the cheerful Suominto the whale.

By all the gods of old and the christian God, that moment was divine.

So divine infact that they overstayed the night-shift guard, who was out of order, and got caught by a cleaner in the early morning hours.

What a scandalous view it must have been for that woman, as she fleed the room screaming.

Henceforth them running though the streets of Gothenburg, avoiding the police.

Sverige never felt more alive.

"Suomi!" He shouted. Suomi nearly tripped over his feed. Unfortunately, Sverige has never called him in his own language, and he never called him his real name.

Thought Sverige loved Finland and loved the Swedish inside of Finland. That is the reason he had no problem with Åland staying part of Suomi. He loved the idea of this part of himself to forever stay with Suomi.

I could've asked my Swedish friends for help with Sweden, but that would have still left Finland and Norway.

and i personally find it disheartening that so many ppl end up referring to mdl when considering dramas because so many gems are then lost and not given appreciation.

(The Worst of Evil aka TWOE comment section, i am f*cking looking at you. i can count on one hand the number of people who understood what that show was supposed to be about) the one fourth that managed to escape was bc the toxicity did not reach the comment section and everyone was pretty f*cking civil. alas if only it could be like that all of the time

case in point for the ratings example, since we've already briefly tackled the lack of media literacy—j-dramas on MDL are notoriously rated much, much lower than either k- or c-dramas. half of the time that's bc there are less users watching (and rating) them therefore the average is lower but the other half it's bc people simply do not understand good media when they see it. don't get me wrong there's some freaky ass sh*t in the j-drama world that i would not touch with a Grinch level pole but to see MDLers out here talking about how slow j-dramas are and that nothing's happening. have you considered that you are either watching the wrong genre or you shouldn't be watching j-dramas in the first place bc their entire setup and general narrative framing arcs are not your style. have you even thought about that for six seconds or are you too busy expecting it to read like a typical tropey rom-com k-drama with your trending oppas. (no hate on my tropey rom-coms with [most of] said oppas, i need them when i don't want to think i just want to see sh*t on my screen and scream about hot people and the Hand Umbrellas in the Rain and the Back Hold when the male lead catches the female lead before she falls and you have the fifteen second focus on their faces just looking at each other)

and the misogyny. oh God do not get me started on the dichotomy that was the Cult, as we affectionatly called ourselves, on the feeds while THEE sageuk of the year My Dearest was airing (beloved show [that i still need to finish. JangChae i'm sorry ily life hates me like the mf it is 😭], beloved commentary on the feeds. they saw the vision on the feeds) vs the sh*tshow that was the landmine field of the comment section (the takes i saw on Gil Chae, Eun Ae AND Ryang Eum respectively.......... the misogyny wasn't enough we had to add the homophobia into the mix. buy one get one free deal fr fr). you mad man. that sh*t was insane there was a point i banned myself from scrolling farther than the cast section until the show finished airing. i kid you not on average they didn't have even half a braincell. maybe a quarter of a quarter of one. f*cked up just say you are not decent people and go

this is not to say that all of MDL is like this. i have gotten tuned into absolute masterpieces of content (and have tuned others, amen) bc of a comment comparing a show i'm watching to another one or a review being posted in the feeds about a film with less than 500 people interested. i have reconsidered my choice to not watch something after having spirited discussions in private messages discussing the pros and cons of the premise and whether they managed to get it done without f*cking sh*t up. i still contribute semi-regularly by adding relatively unknown actors and crew members to the database so they can get the credit due them. if you know where to look, you can get some good sh*t out of that place. problem is most users who are new to both the site and East/Southeast Asian cinema as a whole don't know where to look, and the cycle continues, and the ratings continue to be skewed/bloated and no one pays attention to the plot, if there even is any to pay attention to.

tl;dr: begging people to not let MDL be the be all end all for their drama recs a la 'well MDL doesn't like it so i won't watch it'. babe we have said MDLers complaining about how the ratings on Viki are too high but in my entire time watching dramas i've found that in the past two to three years the Viki ratings are making more sense than the MDL ones. sit with that for a sec. when you're done branch out and see the world (literally and cinematically), i promise you will be a better person for it

omg i'm by no means an authority but i really appreciate it!! hmm but what are you interested in exactly? i think i've covered my headcanons on arcade's mom pretty well in one of my comics but his dad's still a bit mystical figure to me. but i have a couple of headcanons based on info from the ttrpg fallout game where arcade was josh sawyer's player character. like, i headcanon his name as mark because it was his name in the ttrpg (and i feel like some people do that too) and it seems that he knew some latin or at least a couple of latin phrases (and maybe mark even was the reason why arcade learned latin later, that and his medical education). and since cannibal johnson says that arcade reminds him of gannon sr. i feel like he was a pretty educated person too. and it may be a bit weird/hard to explain/very post-soviet of me and i'm not sure if it's even a thing in other countries/regions but i've always read gannons (or at least mrs gannon) as "intelligentsia" (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Intelligentsia). basically, a social class of the "minds" of the state who were privileged enough to get good education and, therefore, important positions in the state, primarily in science/arts/education (it's not a separate class actually, they mostly were bourgeoisie/petite bourgeoisie or on the border with the working class). education was almost inherited in such families because "intelligents" gravitated towards each other and subconsciously taught their kids the same ideals/automatically gave them some of their cultural capital. so yeah, it was pretty elitist in its core but intelligentsia was generally very politically conscious (because they had opportunities to learn in-depth theoretical politics and not only the propaganda for the working class). i obviously oversimplify it and all of this was much much more nuanced and complex, but i hope it still makes some sense and we have very tragic associations with intelligentsia here because when the soviet regime started to shoot itself in the leg intelligentsia was the first to leave the country/be imprisoned/executed/repressed in many other ways. because, again, they were educated enough to critique the state in "dangerous" ways (and many intellectuals helped to shape the communist revolution in the beginning so their importance was originally in this ability to provide state criticism). i know that the enclave is nothing like the ussr in terms of their politics and roots but i feel like similar social classes form in other secluded states too (and something similar even happened to veronica in the brotherhood so. yeah). and i feel like the enclave went through the same process of staling within itself due to lack of contact with the outside world soooo its policies became more and more right-wing with time. and gannons were somewhat oppositional even before mark's death and mrs gannon's parting with the enclave. like, we know that cannibal johnson was openly anti-enclave and even sabotaged his missions. and also cannibal johnson says the nicest things about arcade's father so i think that they had to share political views at least in some way. but mark gannon has to be much more complex than this, not all sugar and candy of course. i feel like he went through a "going anti-state" arc and was much more right-wing in the beginning of his military career and before meeting his wife (also i headcanon her name as daniela because "daniel" was originally arcade's middle name) sorry for the wall of text!!! i can elaborate on anything (also lol. it reads as very anti-communist but i didn't intend it that way. i'm an anarcho-communist myself but i think it's important to talk about war crimes of any failed regime, especially the one you want to work properly in the future)

yes same!! honestly i don't think arcade remembers him well. because everything arcade says sounds more like something other people told arcade?? and in my headcanon he internalized his mother's and other remnants' sentiments and opinions to a point of having fake memories about his dad (but i think it was mostly the remnants who formed this conflict, i see his mother as a silent and a bit avoidant type because she never told him what happened to mr gannon). i still can't figure out my own timeline for arcade's childhood but i thiiiink they left navarro when he was around 5-6 years old cuz arcade says in one of his quotes that he had to hide his association with the enclave for 30 years. plus i believe that he said something about moreno living half of his life on the wastelands already but still grieving the enclave

i think mark was mostly busy with missions to spend any time with arcade. but i don't see him as a particularly bad father, just a busy kind

like, maybe they've had so little time together that arcade remembered some moments very vividly but overthinked them? sometimes memories become foggy because you spin them in your head for too long. for some reason i feel like this happened to almost every arcade's memory of mark

A few tangents, but follow me here: I found this on the Marvel wiki on complete accident, them saw the same info on wikipedia, and now I want to ramble.

For four issues around the Watergate years, Steve Rogers stopped calling himself Captain America and started calling himself Nomad. Just one question: can we go back to that? Because honestly, my one problem with Captain America is the blinding patriotism and nationalism about him. As someone who hates the US government for a multitude of reasons, I simply don't see the need to have a character decked out in its flag from head to toe. So yes, there is a bias here I guess. Because I don't feel this bad about any Canadian superheroes who wear the Canadian flag.

But still, can't they ever go back to the Nomad thing? I know they're not prepared to do it permanently, but I really think they should try it. Just get rid of Captain America for a year and see how it goes. That would be nice to see. No more of the strong, heavy-handed US patriotism.

For context:

I've been working on a video about OFF (The game), specifically about its fandom and how it exploded in popularity around 2013-14, with receips, because not many people remember the huge popularity that the game had back in the day and how we can see some fandom stuff that happened in the OFF fandom that we can still see happening in fandoms now a days.

Anyways, my main problem about the video is its introduction, because OFF as a game doesn't really have a lot of information? Mostly because of its simplicity and the fact that when the game came out, it wasn't very generalized to talk about the background and making of a game. (Even more when it comes to RPGmaker-type games, with many creators remaining as anonymous as possible even now a days).

So, whenever I try to look up the basics of the game, to make a proper introduction of it for any viewer who might stumble into my video without knowing the game, I always find the same information copypasted. Even video essays, both in english and spanish have pretty much the same info and order of telling it, because that information is pretty straight forward and adding more stuff in between makes it sound weirdy clogged.

And because I'm actually worried of plagiarizing something, I have been procrastinating the introduction of the video for ages.

Because, in a fandom where there is so little information, where is the line drawn? There is only so many ways you can introduce a game and its creators without it being seen as plagiarism. And the story and mechanics of the game are simple enough to not need any more tangents to explain them. But everyone else before has been saying exactly the same.

There is also this misinformation chunk about the creators and what they added to the game? I don’t have mi investigation at hand, but usually only one of the guys who worked in OFF gets the credit, while the other is barely mentioned in some videos or wikis. So that’s something I can add in between to show I investigated about the game, but I still worry about being accused of copying the introductions because I’m a small channel just talking about shit I like, and just recently there has been a couple of new videos talking about OFF made by bigger channels, so if I ever got accused of something like that, I fear the repercussions.

Anyways, this was mostly my anxiety talking, but I had to get it out somewhere lol.

Hi, i really hope im not bothering you by sending a modding question... i am absolutely brand new to even thinking about modding, and i know theres a big discord out there, but ive mostly heard horror stories coming out of the community so im honestly terrified to even check it out... im just wondering if you have any idea if its feasible to make a mod of Padre's shirt for V? (The one w the sweater over a collared shirt, i feel like ive seen it on other random npcs as well) not asking you to do it or anything, but its one ive never seen in mods so idk if its already been tried by modders and everyone decided "nah this wont work". Again, so sorry if you dont want to be bugged with questions like this, you honestly just feel like one of the most approachable people ive seen in this fandom so far and trying to make any cp77 friends has proven extremely intimidating.

I can't blame you for not wanting to get your feet into big servers, it can get quite overwhelming and frustrating when nobody seems to notice you. Tho I recommend using them as modding-wiki extension! It can be useful to search for solution, plugins and softwares, discord exclusive tutorials, or catch someone's getting help for a similar problem for example. There is no need to be active :3 but no pressure ofc, just know that it's totally ok to join these servers to just lurk

Tho we can see its all wonky compared to a regular MA mesh, and that's because this one is specifically fitted for old' Padre (it's even in the mesh file name, _old)

To make a version useable for masc V, we'll need to combine a few meshes available in the same folder!

The bottom part: t1_078_ma_shirt__sweater_shirt.mesh

The cuffs: t1_078_ma_shirt__sweater_cuffs.mesh

And one of the two available collar: t1_078_ma_shirt__sweater_collar_01.mesh or _collar_02.mesh

All of these should already fit into one another, but if not a lil refit in blender should do the trick!

Then I can only point out to the Modding Wiki and its numerous tutorials for the AXL part (making a standalone clothing mod)

I also recently added my own AXL Workflow in my Tutorial Drive; I'm planning on writing a proper one, for now it's only screenshots from an old private tutorial I made for a friend, some infomartion are outdated (I've learned a lot since then as well) but it can still be useful, hopefully!
