Rengoku x Reader set before he left for the Mugen train mission 🤧🤧🤧
Just watched the new episode so I’m in my feelings once again. Just soft and sad vibes 🥺

“Kyo,” you say softly, a smile playing on your swollen lips as you look up at your adoring boyfriend, bright as the sun behind him.
“My love,” Kyojuro Rengoku says, a large hand cupping your cheek, thumb gently brushing the delicate skin. “If you keep kissing me like this I’m going to miss my train.”
“Fine,” you say with a pout. “We’ll just have to resume when you get back.”
“I’ll come see my beloved as soon as I’m done with the mission,” Kyojuro says, leaning down to place another kiss against your lips, teasingly pulling your bottom lip as he pulls back.
“You mean me, right?” you say with a giggle.
But you’re completely aware that you’re the last person Kyojuro Rengoku sees before he leaves for a mission and the first one he sees when he gets back.
Kyojuro just smiles at you as he reaches down and takes one of your hands in both of his, his fingers gently brushing against the ruby stone on your ring as he lifts your hand to the lips before placing a kiss against your knuckles.
“I’ll be going now,” Kyojuro says, his eyes never leaving yours as he places one last kiss against the stone on your finger.
You merely nod, not trusting your voice enough as you could feel your eyes prickling. You watch Kyojuro walk away, heading back to the main road as you nervously twist the ring that he gave you around your finger.
I love you. Come back soon.

“Senjuro, have you eaten yet?” you ask, finding the young boy sweeping outside of the Rengoku estate.
“Not yet!” Senjuro tells you, smiling brightly at you. “I was just finishing up and then planned on training before lunch.”
“How about we have lunch and then I can help you train? I just finished cooking,” you say, holding up the basket in your hand, containing three tasty bentos.
You and Senjuro eat your lunch while sitting on the veranda, enjoying the beautiful spring weather. Senjuro had left the bento you had made for his father in his room before returning with tea for the both of you.
“Do you think my big brother is doing alright?” Senjuro asks, looking down at his food.
“Of course, he’ll be back from his mission in no time, just like he always is,” you say, trying to reassure the young boy.
But in the pit of your stomach, you can’t shake the feeling that something is off this time.
