so im taking that oil painting class rn right. i mentioned wanting to paint something original instead of just copying a reference bc that's all the teacher has had me doing so far and he agreed I'm probably ready and went off on this whole tangent about how i shouldn't be nervous to try to do something more original and creative and how he'll show me some original stuff his friends have painted and had shown in galleries etc etc, and... I think somehow he's been assuming that the reason I've been painting realistic stuff directly from photo refs is because that's the kind of art I like to do and that I'm nervous about trying something else??? instead of what he's been telling me to do?

which is really funny to me because apart from this class I haven't 1:1 copied a reference for years, I just haven't gone out of my way to show him any art I make in my own time because this is like a professional full-time oil painter who has paintings in galleries and shit, real high-brow art stuff, and idk how to tell him that left to my own devices I draw video game fanart and dragons and furry commissions and gay sex and cringe and i dont want to draw other things

CH3 [140K WORDS] UPDATE + A LESSON

Hi guys! sorry for the delay there was a reason for it

I fucked up my files and lost all the work I did over the few months for the chapter 2 rewrite...like all of it, im really bummed out about it. and like an idiot ive been playtesting the wrong, unfinished outdated chapter 2 lol

im ngl I did have a pretty long cry earlier which is why I took a while...and im crying now writing this lol

I know it's a wip and these things happen but I worked really hard on 200k+ words of chapter 2 to see it improved and to see it all gone and fucked up really really sucks. I value infamous really highly and am pretty hard on myself so when I dont feel like I deliver what I want to deliver it's really hard for me to move on from that. I was really excited to have this all out at once and now I feel completely disheartened. I know I just have to pick myself up and just get back to work and rewrite chapter 2 but right now im just really upset

anyway, sorry to kill the mood this is probably the worst vibe killer ever lmao I hope everyone is excited! I said I was going to release chapter 3 for band tier and thats what im doing. You'll play the prologue + chapter 1 but will have to input some variable stuff for chapter 3. I hope having chapter 3 can make up for the loss of chapter 2

i've been homeless for a little over a year now. the place my mother and i have been staying is no longer an option, and we have to be out by tomorrow (august 8th 2023). we currently have no other shelter except our car, and i really dont know what we're going to do. its me, my mom, 3 cats and 5 kittens, and none of us have a place to go.

i headcanon that, despite momo being part of the gyaru subculture, she has a very outdated music taste mostly due to being raised by seiko (if her ken takakura obsession could be enough proof).

so one day, aira, momo, and vamola go to a karaoke after school to have fun and whatnot but aira is absolutely bewildered at momo singing her heart out to songs she could swear only grandmas know of (vamola is just happy to be there ofc).

I like to imagine an alternate version of Sweet and Smokey where Smolder doesn't exist, and it's just Fluttershy and Spike reforming Garble. Smolder only exists as Garble's sister just to be the plot device that reforms him.

Actually, you can make an argument that Smolder acts as simply a plot device in every Spike-centric episode since she was introduced. 

In Molt Down, she acts as the plot device that causes Spike to freak out over the Molt and believe Twilight will kick him out.

In Father Knows Beast, she acts as the plot device that causes Spike to realize that something is off about Sludge. 

In Sweet and Smoky, she acts as the plot device that causes Fluttershy and Spike to even go to the Dragonlands to help Garble.

...

Oh, anyway, a possible version of Sweet and Smoky without Smolder…

One thing I will say for S&S is that they choose the perfect two characters to reform Garble. Spike obviously, because he has the most personal connection with Garble, and Fluttershy because she had a hatred for older dragons, and Garble had a hatred for ponies.

Like I said before, I kinda understand what they were (maybe) going for in S&S when it comes to the Spike and Garble comparison. They're both products of their environment, culture, and upbringing. Spike isn't afraid of being sensitive because he grew up in a society where it's mostly accepted. On the other hand, dragon society is a bit rougher than that, and they prioritize pushing down softer emotions and being big and strong and whatnot. The younger ones are encouraged to put down their peers for being soft and whatnot, so that explains Garble's behavior. 

Interesting thing to note is that not all dragons are shown to be happy like this. The brown dinosaur one nicknamed Barry wants to sleep on pillows, and the big blue one named Scalio secretly enjoys hugs, and playing harmless pranks…

So we have Spike, who isn't afraid of being sensitive because he grew up in a more accepting society, and then we have Garble, who tries his best to act in the way that's accepted by his society.

The conflict would be that Ember and Spike had successfully helped the dragons become more friendly with each other, and are even starting to be nicer to other creatures. Even Garble's friends. Garble is the only one who is stuck in his ways, because he believes that it's going against everything dragons stand for, and he's afraid of the dragons abandoning their culture for pony culture, or at the very least the two cultures incorporating aspects from each other. Basically he wants to keep the culture “pure”.

And you know what? There's nothing wrong with Garble being proud of culture. In the episode, they could have Garble showing Spike the positive/cool aspects of dragon culture that Spike hasn't seen YET (keep in mind it's been implied through scattered dialog that since Gauntlet of Fire that Spike and Twilight have learned more about dragon culture, but they still don't know EVERYTHING), like their art, or the treasure they collect, the different armors they wear, their battles, different types of dragon species like elemental dragons and Chinese dragons, their long history, etc etc you name it. Spike will be genuinely interested and excited about Garble's lesson, and Garble will feel a sense of pride in educating this young dragon who doesn't know the deeper aspects of his species and culture. 

That will show that there's nothing wrong with Garble being proud of his culture, it's just that dragons shouldn't prioritize the negative/outdated aspects of their culture. 

Maybe one of the reasons Garble's pissed at Spike is because Spike is the ambassador helping Ember make important decisions and changes to dragon society, but Spike didn't grow up in dragon society, so he isn't as engulfed in the culture and Garble sees it as him making changes to make dragon society more like pony society. 

If Garble were to explain that to Spike, he would understand, and say that he's not trying to erase dragon culture or whatnot, but he actually wants ponies and dragons to get along and share each other's cultures with each other, but in order for that to happen the dragons need to drop the negative aspects. 

I didn't forget about Fluttershy. While Garble is I guess educating Spike, Fluttershy is with Ember watching the dragon eggs hatching.

Ember uses the Bloodstone Scepter to summon the actual parents, the bigger dragons. Fluttershy is still terrified of older, bigger dragons.

But when watching the dragon parents interact with their newborn babies, Fluttershy realizes that older dragons are still capable of love and kindness, and she starts to interact with them, her fear beginning to go away.

Later in the episode where Spike has given up on Garble's attitude, and Garble has given up on changing Spike's mind on changing dragon culture, Fluttershy runs into him. Of course he acts rude to her, and she puts him in his place. She is still happy from her interaction with the dragon parents, and hopes to return to the Dragonlands sometime soon to interact with them, and maybe learn more about dragon society. Garble is confused on why a “soft and sensitive” pony would want to interact with dragons and learn more about their culture, and Fluttershy confesses that before she was afraid of dragons, but after interacting with them sees that not all of them are scary. Garble educates Fluttershy in the same way he did Spike, and Fluttershy is interested. She points out similarities between pony and dragon culture, and Garble acts like he's not interested. But Fluttershy tells him some impressive things that ponies have done, and Garble can't pretend to be unimpressed anymore. He begrudgingly asks to hear more about pony culture. 

After all that, Garble (once again, begrudgingly) approaches Spike, and tells him that what he's trying to do for dragon society isn't completely terrible (Garble's words, not mine). He had believed dragon culture was superior, and was afraid of it going away or being watered down by dragons accepting friendship, which he viewed as something strictly for pony culture, which he saw as inferior. But pony society has rich and interesting aspects, which he learned from Spike and Fluttershy. 

Spike says that pony society isn't perfect either, and there have been examples of ponies looking down on other species as well (Chancellor Neighsay for instance). 

So Garble gets past his hatred of ponies, Fluttershy gets past her hatred of older dragons, and Spike further helps pony and dragons get on better terms with each other. Not only that, but Spike and Garble are friends again.

Keep in mind that Garble is the first dragon friend Spike ever made (before they became enemies), so thematically it makes sense for them to become real genuine friends again in the final season.

And no horribly contrived crap, like Smolder being Garble's sister, or laugh fire being introduced out of nowhere, or completely retconning Garble's character.

Who knows, maybe they can even keep the beat poetry thing. Have Garble be into it, and he teaches Spike about it because it's a part of ancient dragon art, only for Spike to reveal that ponies do that too. 

Garble automatically assumes that ponies appropriated it from dragons, but in reality a long time ago a friendly dragon taught it to a pony, and was ok with the pony taking it back to their society. 

Either that, or it's just something that both societies came up with. That's cool too.

Hey Leya, thank you for your support, I appreciate all the asks and questions that are coming my way and I ADORE to see more fans of this lil ship! I’ll slowly try to both make new art and share some of my old stuff here in a hopefully recurrent peace (Also I’ll make old as OLD in the posts, as my art, the story, and mainly Jeff’s design is a bit outdated, oops-)

As for the actual question, well… There’s a lot I am still trying to figure out with them, so take my response with a bit of salt here and there hehe.

But, to say again, my story changes a ton from the og, it’s more on the ways of JTK 2015 ish? Kinda? They are relatively closer to it than the og events anyway. So, you can already imagine some details about Randy… Mainly that he had a crush on Jeff before shit hits the fan- However, my version of Randy is a bit unhinged, and after disappearing/being pronounced dead, he goes his merry way. And by “Merry Way,” I mean he likes firearms and becomes a sniper assassin, with the personal goal of hunting Jeff and probably keeping his eyes in a jar or something like that. He also likes to keep trophies if he ever has the chance.

So, seeing how others have failed (Liu, Jane, Troy, Keith, Nina, etc etc) He decides to start trying to… start a friendship from afar. Of course, he hides his face with a mask and whatnot- And Jeff, being VERY starved from ANY kind of affection, falls for it very quick … Quick and sincere enough for Randy to start to feel… Something, for him, mostly pity anyway. Jeff is not a Killer, per se, it’s more complicated than that.

Okok so we all know the Sims 3 is like, not super popular and is also notoriously buggy BUT on the off chance anyone is like me and loves it, i have some tips that have greatly helped my game run better. I also am including links to any specific creators or sites I recommend. Tips under the cut bc it's a long post, but I tried to be thorough! You will need to understand like, basic reading comprehension and basic computer-y stuff (downloading files, unpacking files, dragging and dropping into folders, editing the occasional file text) but most stuff I link to have tutorials for adding mods into the game and whatnot.

I really hope this helps people like me who love TS3! but know the game is.... outdated for basically all computers. These are all things ive learned over the past couple years, so I hope this can be a helpful resource for anyone wanting to play TS3.

Number one will probably be using this tutorial to make the game recognize your current computer specs. Because the game is, yknow, old, it wont recognize newer drivers and whatnot. Nraas will be your best friend for managing things in-game. It's similar to MCCC for the sims 4 but you completely customize which like, modules you use. I highly highly recommend specifically Story Progression and Master Controller https://www.nraas.net/community/home

LazyDuchess is a goddess and I highly Highly recommend her Smooth Patch mod. It makes the game run so much better. Also she has so many other mods that make things like CAS load faster plus a search function for Build/Buy https://www.patreon.com/lazyduchess/posts

ModTheSims is a great resource for Sims 3 Mods as well, definitely recommend making an account and perusing their sims 3 mods https://modthesims.info/

Speaking of ModTheSims, I highly recommend Regul Save Cleaner to... clean up the extra data in your saves https://modthesims.info/download.php?t=652440

Also on ModTheSims theres an excellent bug fixing mod from Simler90, it touches on a bunch of like longtime bugs that havent been fixed (like the firefighter career being bugged) https://modthesims.info/download.php?t=659969

Make sure that before playing or after adding any new mods, delete the files: caspartcache.package, compositorcache.package, scriptcache.package, simcompositorcache.package, and socialcache.package. If not, the game WILL load slowly and/or crash. These files are found in Documents\ElectronicArts\The Sims 3. Not sure about Steam bc I use the EA app, but I assume its a similar path.

Save every half hour or so to prevent crashes killing too much progress. And don't play for longer than an hour per initial load (like, play for an hour, save, quit and load the game again). I find it helps the game run smoother when you dont play in 3 hour stretches.

make a backup saves folder for your saves. Im not sure why, but i found that keeping only one save in the actual saves helps it loads faster and smoother.

Also when saving your game, ALWAYS use Save As. If you Save As, you wont have to worry about accidentally corrupting your saves, which happens a lot

Also, when you're about to save, move the save you loaded into your backup saves folder BEFORE saving. I find it crashes/corrupts way less if its not trying to compete with the other save

also keep your sims personal inventory fairly empty (like 10 items max) to prevent a known bug from occurring when saving. Use a storage box or something to store collectibles like gems, plants, etc.

WHEN IN CAS WAIT UNTIL THE LITTLE FLOWER LOOKING ICON IS BLUE TO SCROLL THROUGH THE CATEGORY. When it turns blue, all the items have properly loaded, so it wont lag nearly as much.

Prev point applies to build/buy, wait for the category to load before messing with things. You'll save yourself a lot of stress

Dont use 4 speed, i find it just lags and stops progressing time. I use 2 or 3 max, even when sleeping

In this blog, you can ask anything to any SPM character!

•Just please do remember to keep it SFW and in general don't ask any suggestive/weird stuff! But other than that I'd be more than happy to answer to y'all's creative and whatnot questions with any character!

•You can ask as many questions as you want (anon or not) however i ask to not spam the question box!

•You also can ask questions to any character (even more than one in the same ask ofc) in any period of the game! (Between chapters, post-game, etc!)

•Also also, I'll try to keep things as canon as possible, but in cases in which we do not have canon answers or 100% fleshed out I might insert some headcanons or thoughts of mine! Or general ideas the fandom has!

The Jester is an Atertiary (spec.) Autistic, Adult. And may not always use the /p tone tag but am ok with it being used towards me even when I don't use it.

I use the terms Friend/Familiar and moots interchangeably along with the term Dove as a platonic (or general) endearment.

I post art and writing to do with the DCA's and my own DCA Au's! Along with reblogging stuff for the DCA fandom (and occasional tag games when I get tagged on here.)

I love the DCA and the DCA fandom so I may occasionally reblog a lot but most stuff is queued! (Everyone's art and written works for canon and fanon of the DCA's is awesome!)

Talking to a friend tonight about how one of the strangest, shittiest cultural shifts of the last decade seems to be the sheer number of people who are just totally uninterested in growing as people.

Uninterested in examining anything beyond their knee jerk reactions of "I like it = good, I don't like it = bad," and more than happy to therapy-speak their way through interpersonal problems on the most superficial level imaginable as long as it means avoiding any real personal accountability or need to confront anything the least bit complicated about themselves or the way they interact with the world.

It's so bizarre and depressing, and ABSOLUTELY a huge part of the reason we're experiencing a cultural crisis of loneliness. When you approach every relationship and interaction in your life and culture with the attitude of "I don't owe anyone anything" and a total lack of willingness to dig into any surface level discomfort or acknowledge that your actions do have an impact on the people around you, you're never going to form real, lasting connections.

Whenever I think about this I always consider my own experience with what has, at times, been an extremely crippling panic disorder.

I see a lot of people with similar issues talking about taking care of themselves and whatnot, but it's all about avoidance and accommodation. Maybe I'm about to sound outdated, but it kind of concerns me that nobody talks about being able to overcome things like this anymore?

Some things never go away, my panic disorder has definitely opened doors in my mind that I know can never really be closed now that I've experienced a particular way of thinking, and I will always have some months that are worse than others. Acknowledging that doesn't mean avoiding everything that distresses you. Sometimes, it's better to just have the panic attack, go through the shitty thing, rather than let your fear take something else away from you.

The reality is, avoidance of an issue only allows it to gain ground. Every time you shy away from something because it's uncomfortable or anxiety inducing or upsetting, you are denying yourself an opportunity to live a fuller life.

I'm just so curious to know what it is, exactly, people are striving for when they pursue the image of moral purity and a stress free existence? How are you going to connect with people when you're constantly policing each other, when you cannot foster open, honest connections because you're so afraid of anything even the least bit unsightly inside of yourself or anyone else?

What will you gain from avoiding stress? Fear? Discomfort? How do you shun half of your emotions and still expect to be able to handle them when they inevitably break through?

Obviously, we all have our limits, we all have our boundaries, but the trend of people setting those limits and boundaries at the first sign of discomfort is insanely depressing.

So, I know people struggle with self-criticism of their own art like me. I have some tips! These help me. Check below! ☺️🥰❤️

- Finish the product with all your small mistakes. Why? Because after you look at it, you’ll be like, “Ugh, This sucks” and want to fill in detail and whatnot. Don’t do it. Use it as a learning experience for the next time. (NO ART IS BAD BTW)

- Try different approaches if one way doesn’t work. Don’t force THAT way to work or you’ll get burned out.

- TAKE. BREAKS. PLEASE. (BURNOUT IS REAL)

- If digital? ALWAYS MAKE A COPY OF YOUR OUTLINE! (Rename it, too). So if you mess up, you can start over without COMPLETELY starting over.

- Remember: There is NO such thing as BAD art. It’s all about interpretation and perception. Remember Picasso, Da Vinci, Normal Lewis, Van Gogh, Bob Ross, and so many other amazing artist.

- Don’t think just because pen and paper our outdated that you have to switch. If you want to, awesome. But people still buy and adore physical art.

- We are OUR OWN WORST CRITICS. Yes, our opinion should always come first, but not if it’s just negativity. Remember: No art is bad. It’s only bad when you don’t bother try.

- Tutorials! Tutorials! They are HELPFUL! No harm in asking for help.
