Before starting, I’d first state that I am an I-ARMY and that this is my opinion regarding the ongoing situation in ARMY fandom. English is not my first language so please bear with me.
[!] I am using the terms fansites and non-fansites not to degrade one of the other, I simply don’t know better terms I can use. I also would like to apologize in advance if my words hurt anyone. It is never my intention to.
1) DSLR vs. Phone
People are having problem with DSLRs because it causes view obstruction. In my personal experience, I have had problem with people who bring phone, bring banners, and use headbands more than DSLRs. I have had people resting their phones on my shoulders, people resting their weight on me, pushing and shoving me, blocking my view with their phones, hitting me with their fans or phones, an so on. Just like non-fansites, there are rude fansites and kind ones. I won’t dismiss people who have had problems with rude fansites who ruined their concert experience, with this, I am simply stating that the blame shouldn’t put on fansites only when it comes to ruining fellow fans’ safety and concert experience, because non-fansites are capable of doing as much.
2) Recording
I have seen arguments claiming the boys dislike DSLRs, when as far as I know, they prefer any form of recording to not be done during concert. During WINGS tour, Jungkook asked us sweetly to focus on them and to enjoy the concert to the fullest rather than busying ourselves with recording. He did not specify phone nor DSLR. I didn’t record him saying this because I didn’t record anything at all, but I am certain that this is something they had consistently address.
Namjoon also said this:

I have seen the viral instagram live video claiming BTS told the security guards that they do not like DSLR, but I have seen no proof that back that claim up either. Just like I am, it is just a random person talking. However, I believe that it’s not about the tools used to record. The boys want us to enjoy the concert as much as possible, and it does not matter whether you bring phone or camera. Recording with phones used to be banned  and is still not allowed, but did anyone ever listen? So why are you only cursing fansites for breaking rules when a lot of you are doing the same? Phones are allowed into the venue for its purpose as communication tool, not to record. Although stadiums seem to be not that strict when it comes to recording with phone, remember that BTS would rather to see your happy faces enjoying the concert than seeing a sea of phones and cameras.
[!] I don’t specify which stop of WINGS tour did Jungkook say it because I don’t want my opinion to start getting associated with certain people or fans of the country, because there is always a possibility that they do not agree with me. I do not want them to get ignorantly dragged too.
3) Profits
Fansites are not the only ones getting profit off BTS. There are ARMYs who are fanartists, fanfic writers, graphic designers who are also getting profit off BTS by selling their own merchandise. Any form of non-official merchandise is illegal, but why are you only outing fansites for this?
Of course I dislike those who are here solely to seek profit off BTS too, and I have blocked several fansites who apparently downgrade BTS members on their personal accounts. But plenty of fansites also love BTS as much as we do and some even have been here since the beginning. They had helped promoting BTS when they were still unknown. There are also ones who consistently donate in BTS’ name. Instead lumping all fansites together as bad, we have to be careful and selective.
Speaking about illegal behavior, it is also illegal to share official contents such as from DVD, VLIVE+, Channel+/Fanship, and Fancafe.
But do people still do it anyway? Certainly.
4) Security
If it is a problem of security, why are you putting half, if not all, the blame on fansites? It should have been the security’s responsibility to make sure they check anyone thoroughly before entering the venue. It is what they are paid and hired for. Whether fansites exist or not, people with bad intention will still exist. They don’t exist because fansites exist, but because they want to. It is not fansites’ fault, but the security’s fault for not being thorough enough.
I would like to remind everyone that not only fansites bring DSLRs. I have met non-fansites ARMYs who bring DSLRs too, but people just assume they are fansites due to the DSLRs.
5) Banned fansites
I have seen rumors claiming that A LOT of fansites are banned, when in fact, according to list posted by BIGHIT on ARMY 5th Notice Board, only CARROTNUNA and HOPEEYES so far are explicitly banned due to sasaeng behaviors.
Tumblr media
Remember that fansites aren’t always sasaengs, and non-fansites fans aren’t always non-sasaengs. Do I need to remind everyone who chased BTS down the street when they were shooting Bon Voyage 1? Local fans, not fansites.
There are fansites who are not in BIGHIT’s banned list that had done mistake and apologized afterwards. When someone makes a mistake, what matters is their behavior after they had done it. If they had apologized and showed they have changed, why are some of you still holding them accountable for their past mistakes? This is precisely why Cancel Culture is toxic, because it doesn’t give a chance to people to learn and grow from their mistakes.
I’m doing this not because I am picking side, I’m simply sad to see my fandom fighting like this. I love ARMY so much and have been one since 2015. In my previous fandoms, I-fans are often called I-roaches because they have bad relationship, but K-Diamonds and I-Lovelys get along so well that it warms my heart. ARMY have gone through so much hardships together with BTS, fighting ANTIS together to protect BTS, so let’s stay strong and support BTS together.
[!!!]  My opinion is MINE only, please do not associate it with certain people, group, of country. I am aware people have different takes and opinions regarding this matter.
