hello hello, i’m yve, and i’ve been doing this rping thing for...an ungodly amount of time. i’ve been around. i am in my thirties and if that is weird to some folks, well, unfollow button right there. because of this i do feel more comfortable with mutuals at least 21+, please and thank you. this blog will be low activity. fair warning. sometimes the will to write is not there, but i rarely if ever drop threads unless the other person deactivated or something. no drama. please. reserve that for threads. since we are all adults, i am more than capable of doing smut and such, i just don’t indulge in incest with margaery and must be consensual. game of thrones i understand is a show / media that partakes in the dark, incestuous things, but I never felt comfortable writing it and i never believed margaery would, so, no tyrellcest here. i don’t mind it being a part of your character’s story and such, I mean, as I said, hard to avoid in the GRRM of it all, but margaery shall not be indulging with her family. she loves her family, but not like that. ( “my brother can come in and help” aside. ) however, going back to smut, if you’re not into writing it, or fading to black, that is totally fine! smut writing isn’t for everyone and i respect that! You respect my comfort, I’ll respect yours. speaking of comfort, the basis of my portrayal of margaery here, while i am more than happy to write pre-boom margaery, and plan on writing a version of her throughout time and history, the main verse would be a resurrected margaery tyrell, to do with blood magic and the baggage that come with it. if you are not comfortable with that, I could easily come up with an AU where such things don’t occur, and she merely escaped her fate. Just let me know! my margaery will not fawn over daenerys. not happening. especially in her resurrected verse. after being killed in a blast of wildfire.... she would not trust someone that easily commands dragon fire. is it possible the two could come to terms. maybe. but only after putting some work into building any kind of relationship. clap your hands if you’re a multiship blog. CLAP CLAP CLAP. please, throw all your muses at margaery, i kill to have her fall in love, as she only married for duty in the show. let her grapple with the emotions, be at an actual loss for words, feel something. i beg for it. crossovers and oc’s are so welcomed here, are you kidding? opens have no expiration date and multiple people can reply. that’s it. that’s the rules.

Today was a long day at work. My back is just...ruining my life at this point. I thought it got better after I stopped taking the new meds but no go. I cannot even explain how much agony I am in when I wake up in the morning. I cannot even sit up. I have to kinda roll over, swing my legs in hopes I can roll to the edge of the bed. I am worried I've actually slipped a disk or something. My GP has not called me back despite my calling them three times. Tomorrow I'm gonna get nasty on the phone and demand they send me a referral for an MRI because I think I need to explore getting some cortisone shots in my back or something. Or give me the referral I asked for PT. I cannot live like this.

My evening was improved by my brother sending over the cutest video from my six year old niece asking me which MLP was my favorite. So I sent her a reply back with my bright purple/pink hair clearly visible telling her I had not seen the new MLP and we'd have to watch it when she's here next month. Which....on one hand god help me, did I just sign up to watch MLP? But on the other, quality time with my niece so I'll take it.

Now, I find myself at an impasse. I could write, I'm in the middle of writing a very fun scene with lots of verbal sparring with Walon Vau. But I also kinda want to read but my reading history is in A B S O L U T E shambles.

I've been reading a lot of Grashir the past few days but I have a couple of D&D HAT fics written by some authors who I adore like Weatherlaw who have been posting WIP's I just haven't had a chance to read yet. On top of that I have like three or four COD fics I stopped midway through because of ADD. And now I'm teetering on the edge of falling down a FR rabbit hole. Cause there's new fics in the Notorious verse which I have not read.

I also kinda lowkey want to see one angsty Jarlaxle/Zak fic where they realize maybe two centuries of separation has changed Jarlaxle and he's not the person Zak used to know and maybe they're not suited to be lovers anymore and should they maybe start as friends. Meanwhile Artemis is totally not lowkey freaking out about this super important figure in Jarlaxle's past who has shown up out of nowhere and is potentially going to upset the delicate balance of their relationship.

BUT I HAVE NOT FOUND THIS FIC SO FAR AND I AM SAD.

Not because I want to see some divisive this pairing is superior to the other so much as people change and it gives you this bittersweet realization that when you see someone you haven't seen in a decade or two and you realize despite being best of friends or maybe something else in the past, you've both changed and you need to examine your relationship and come to terms with the ghosts of that previous relationship and whether you need to redefine it and give it a new meaning.

So any enterprising fic writer out there in the FR fandom, please take my bunny and give it a good home. I don't have the time or attention span for it. Or the brain power to read the most recent books. I still have the entire Generations trilogy sitting on my kindle which I haven't read so for all I know that's been addressed in some way, shape or form.

I thiiiiiiiiiiiiiiink I'm going to be good and write. I'm getting closer and closer to finishing Seeds.

I think I might actually do something super special when I finish this fucking fanfic because yanno what? I will have written essentially two full length novels or one god damned GRRM/Robert Jordan length novel by the time I finish this damned fanfic.

REVIEW: Black Sun by Rebecca Roanhorse

Okay, pals. Buckle up.

I want to start this review with a confession— I DNF Game of Thrones...

I know, I know. Scold me. GRRM's style and prose is just way too slow for me. To me, he writes like he has severe ADD, and I mean no offense to anyone with attention deficit problems, but I can't read a saga that derails itself over and over and over ad nauseam. I just can't do it, can't get into it. Thank goodness GoT translated very well onto the screen (ignoring the final season that I just have decided to wipe from my memory Eternal Sunshine style to deal with the grief, obvi), or I might not have ever become familiar with that world.

I bring this up as introduction because Rebecca Roanhorse is a brilliant author and I will take this statement to my grave. She has not only managed to build a brilliantly lush and visceral world like so many legendary fantasy storytellers have done before her, but she managed to do so without needless expository! Nothing was missed, nothing was left unsaid necessarily, but I could just tell that she was very intentional with where she decided to embellish, and from a reader standpoint it absolutely thrilled me! So, thank you Rebecca for knowing that it wasn't necessary to launch into an entire 5 paragraph expository section, detailing (view spoiler)

There several other examples where she chose not to divulge useless information for the sake of taking up a page, but this one was the first time I really was like, "Oh, wow, thank god.. T H A N K Y O U".

I'm not going to go into too much crazy detail as far as plot and characters go, I'm not that kind of reviewer, and you have a very fine summary provided by the author/publisher at the top of the goodreads page, bookstore description, etc. but here's a little synopsis in case you haven't actually read anything about this book before reading this review:

This epic takes place pre-columbian infiltration, so like our author, its characters are indigenous (YES PLEASE LOVE). Thus, the lore that Roanhorse introduces us to is influenced by a lot of real native customs and culture. Every chapter begins with telling us where on the map we are, and gives us a timeline in relation to the Convergence: when the Sun, Moon, and Earth all are in alignment. The first character we are introduced to is a young boy, 10 years before convergence, Serapio. His mother carves sigils into his skin, and blinds him, because she believes he is The Crow God. It's difficult to talk much about Serapio without getting into spoiler territory, so I'll just leave it at that he's endlessly fascinating, and a far more intruiging take on GoT's (not to keep bringing this comparison back....) Bran. I have a lot of mixed up feelings about Ser, and I think anyone who has finished the book can understand why. We don't return to that timeline for some time, as the next main character we meet, 20 days from convergence, is Xiala—a ship captain and a drunk, to be direct. We meet her in a jail cell, locked up for public indecency and getting physical with a Lord Pech. She is bailed out by another merchant lord, Lord Balam, on the promise that she is to captain a ship carrying precious cargo, that must arrive across the map before convergence. Although Xiala insists to Balam that there's not enough time and that it cannot be done, he seems oddly confident that she'll do as he desires. Xiala is incredibly likeable, the kind of heroine that I love to relate to. She's moody, she's super comfortable with her (pan)sexuality... oh, and she's a Teek: she can hold influence over water. Pretty handy in her profession, as you might imagine. Our third main character in the same aforementioned timeline, is newly appointed Sun God, Naranpa. I have a great deal of love for Naranpa—she ascended despite coming from a common clan, not of Sky Made, like all of the other priesthood. She's a realist, and has very keen instincts for people: Iktan— her nonbinary sheild, knife, and former lover (who is the first character to feature nonbinary pronouns!!) is one that I'm still not sure how to feel about. That said, Abah her priesthood nemisis, can go straight to hell. Fuck Abah. The final main character arc that we follow along the timeline towards the Convergence is Okoa— Prince of Tova, Carrior Crow. His journey starts later in the timeline because he's only brought in when (view spoiler). He is so essential to the plot, and I'm excited to learn more of him from a more personal level in the installments of the series to come.

The other choice of note that had me grinning from ear to ear and screaming, "Y E S S S S S" at 2am, most likely waking my husband, dog, and our neighbors: Xe, Xir, Xed freakin pronouns. NONBINARY PEOPLE, YALL. YES, NOT JUST ONE. YES. YES. What a treat.

I gotta tell you guys, I have, like many, been making a much more conscientious effort to read more fiction by BIPOC authors, and I am kicking myself and my privilege for not doing so sooner. BIPOC authors are murdering the fantasy/sci-fi game right now, and this is just another brilliant example.
