one thing i love about xena fic is that no one ever mentions makeup
#text post#marley on xena#i keep trying to write a post about xwp and gender performance but you have to untangle the fanservice from the actual characters#first and it always ends up sounding like praising the bare minimum and it's so hard to explain why i'm fine with#the bikini tops and miniskirts but i find the styling of most women on tv today utterly alienating and offputting if i even have#a reason beyond 'i prefer that 90s look' but i can at least state this as a fact lol#idk every time i try to sum up my feelings about the portrayal of fictional women with a broad statement i think of exceptions#it's a multitude of factors on a case by case basis i guess but i sure do love the women in xena
