regardless!!! while i struggled with this piece i do like how it turned out!! would've liked to try drawing a more full-body version but alas i couldn't quite manage that OTL. some day ill manage to accomplish it!! just not yet!!!

Anyway, I randomly wanted to redesign the main cast of Ouran in my style/ with headcanons and my own embellishments

Here's a screenshot redraw, I'll put all the redesigns below the break bc I did all the main characters & wanna talk about the choices I made. Also I made up that uniform redesign on the spot bc I when I was doing the characters I just put them in casual clothes lmao

(I might do some others later, like Renge, Kasanoda, Yasuchika, Benibara, etc.)

Going in order of my least favorite to top favorite. And dont mind that I didn't color the clothes, that's not whats important here lmao

Mori is only at the bottom because I don't like the drawing that much, I still think the design is pretty good. Though, like right when I finished coloring, I decided a bun/top-knot would look better so it's a bit disappointing there. In my head, Mori is kind of struggling to figure out who he is & what he wants to do, which is why he follows Honey around and doesn't talk much. He does genuinely like being around the other hosts though.

Also, the undercut because A) he has the reputation for being the scary one & it kinda suits that, B) uh do I even have to say it? ...its hot He does lowkey look like Sokka from Avatar tho, especially with the blue accents

Honey is next because again I think the drawing itself is a little off and the design is pretty close to Basil from Omori, which i didn't notice until it was too late lmao. One of the main things I didn't like about his character in the show was obviously how childlike he was & how girls still flirted with him even though he looked and acted 6; So now he still acts a bit childish but doesn't play it up as much & definitely has a more normal voice, not a fckn child's.

Haruhi! I definitely had to keep her glasses cuz they were really cute and kinda sold the whole 'commoner' thing in a way. But other than that I mainly wanted to balance out her femininity and masculinity to make her more androgynous/nonbinary/gender-fluid since she definitely has some of that going on in the show as is. I also gave her dark circles under her eyes to kinda show that she worked really hard to get into Ouran with low status.

Next up is Tamaki of course, getting into the characters I'm most happy with the designs of. One small thing I tried to do for each of them was give them varying hair tones; so even though Honey and Tamaki are both blond, I went very platinum-blond with him. When I started drawing him, my only real thought was "he has to be a pretty boy" so I dont have much to say about my choices, but i do think I succeeded. Don't mind the modern mullet thing, I can't stop it

Kyouya is definitely one of my favorite characters as is, seeing as he has one of the more fleshed out & heart-wrenching backstories in the show. I think the only thing I really wanted to change was getting rid of the Anime Bangs, so I just gave him this kinda sleek, kinda messy pushed-back look with a blue tint. Even though it's simple, I really struggled to come up with anything, until I found a page from the author saying smth like "I don't like the idea of him wearing neat clothes" with a picture of him in like a track suit so I did kinda the same outfit

My absolute #1 favorites, Hikaru & Kauru. They're honestly the ones that started it all because Kauru has been my favorite since I first saw the halloween episode (iykyk).

I don't know why, but I wanted their hair to be fluffier/curly and more of a natural(?) ginger color. I knew I wanted Kauru's to be redder and Hikaru's a bit lighter/blonder, but only subtly. I also gave Kauru a scar on his cheek from that time in Karuizawa, but most notably, I gave them blue and pink eyes as their signature colors. Lastly, their expressions are slightly different, because no matter how much they are in sync and try to match each other perfectly, Kauru's a much gentler soul than Hikaru, so I made Hikaru's smile a bit more snarky while Kauru's is soft.

Let's start with Moradita and Rosita, the first one is the face of my blog, the second one is the one I names above (1/?)

So first of all, Moradita was created directly as a self insert to self ship with a certain blue haired boy, but she has her own story and everything inside of the og story. On the other hand Rosita is just my animal crossing oc, at first she was gonna be just the New Horizons one, but recently I chose for her to be also the New Leaf one, and... Well I'll get to that.

Moradita starts really shy, she is terrified of talking to people, she meets a group of friends (the original story she was created to self insert with and after that hyperfixation died she moved onto her current one) who end up helping her be a bit more confident in herself and encourage her to love herself and be who she wants to be.

(Something that I did with my self inserts is that I made them a group of idols lmao but that on another reblog because I cant add more pictures)

She gets isekaied into this other world, summoned, and gets forced to listen to the commands the people who summoned her tell her. When she was isekaied she was in the middle of a concert with the group, and as she traveled to the other world, she gained the ability to cast magic through her singing. It's really pretty, magic particles start floating, depending on what she's trying to cast is the color they take, how they move and if they create something to attack or they wrap themselves around others to heal them or give them a boost of power. She was quite literally summoned to fight in a war, to take away innocent lives, and she was told that if she didn't do as she was told, they would make sure they brought her loved ones into that world to make them + her suffer (she doesn't know they can't do that).

As the war keeps going she's drained, her throat hurts, she feels horrible for taking away lives and she barely has any mana left, she hasn't had any rest. This leaving the main people leading her without a huge support, and eventually a strong soldier from the other front reaches them, they kill the people who summoned her and had been using her for all that time, and then tells her to run away and not look back.

Years pass, the kingdom that summoned her has fallen, but she's doesnt really wanna hear anything about that. She feels lonely in this weird world, she misses her friends her loved ones, and in an attempt to not fall down in the darkness that she once was in, she decides to travel and learn more about this weird world she is at. She's a bard! (I don't have her design for that lmao) She's still shy and nervous, but has learnt a lot on how to treat people and interact and to not let her anxiety show!!

She eventually crosses paths with the blue haired guy jajajaja and they become friends, kind of a slow burn. But she finally feels she has found her place in that world that is now her home.

Then we have Rosita, who as I said is from AC! She doesn't have much exact lore, she has concepts here and there. She is really kind and caring, always looking out for others, but she's quite close about her own feelings. Will always offer a hand in anything, but won't let anyone help her when she needs it. She is waaaay more mature than the other self inserts and has a more logical point of view. She loves dressing up fancy and trying different outfits!

It's not HER lore, but on my New Horizons island I have another character, Ian, who despises Rosita. Or so he says, he tries to hate her but kind of fails at it. Ian is really closed off, always on his own, doesn't talk to anyone, and lives on a small house in the middle of the forest, far from everyone. His only company being the bugs, the waves that crash at the rocks behind his house, and the sound of a gentle waterfall nearby. All the other villagers want to talk with him and get to know him, but he always avoids them. The only one he can't get rid of is of Rosita.

He is honestly in a really bad place mental health wise, his sister died and he still hasn't moved on. In those dark and difficult nights where he can't cry himself to sleep, Rosita comes to him and sits with him near the waterfall. They sometimes drink tea, sometimes eat a little snack, sometimes she takes him on walks to the beach. She always knows what to say to ease him a little bit, and always checks up on him. (I actually have a small comic about this, the ink looks weird now tho, it's a couple years old)

"I'm the island representative, I have to make sure everyone is okay!" Is what she tells him when he complains.

(this isn't canon yet, I need to think more about it) I was thinking about making her trapped on a time loop, first for the new leaf one because I restarted my town once, and when she took a different decision she ended up on the new horizons island. Which is the reason why she is so chill about everything and so closed off, she's used to see everyone come and leave, and probably has seen how bad things can get for Ian and she sees a bit of herself in him and wants to be there for him. So even if she feels like nothings worth it at the end, she will continue to try, the one thing she will continue doing, no matter the loops, is to be there for him "he deserves at least that". She loves him very much (in a platonic way).

But even if it wasn't a time loop,I'd think about something so that she can leave the new leaf town and become the island representative of new horizons... But yeah, this is why she is more mature than the other girls and why she is the warden, because she is more on the logical side and knows her stuff, has worked on positions of power but never let that get to her head, always acting as if she was on the same level as everyone else and just using that power when necessary, usually for something that would benefit everyone. She balances out her responsibilities and her time with her friends.

Ah also!! She always has cute stickers on her cheeks!! At least on her "normal mode"

Oh right, while Ian and Rosita could technically be shipped, I like them more as just friends
