never ever in a million years did ramattra ever think a human would be the one to win his heart

but to be fair, it took him a long time to even warm up to you being around. he didn't care for your company at first, no matter how many times you said you were on his side, he couldn't find it within himself to believe you. humans were liars, and you were no exception

until he saw you helping. actually helping. you were repairing omnics after their encounters with humans, you were using your skills for something that actually mattered and he felt.. good

he felt good about you, and the first genuine words he ever said to you were "thank you". his voice was soft, and his gratitude was true. he was grateful he had someone like you on his side

still, he never would've expected you to become anything more than an acquaintance. you were a coworker, someone he exchanged words with occasionally.. but nothing more than that

until you wiggled your way into his life more and more each day. you would approach him, eagerly asking if there was anything you could do to help. he was happy to put you to work, but you would keep coming back. the truth was, you just wanted to talk to him

eventually, he caved. it took months of persistence, but he let you into his life, much to his dismay at first. he didn't understand what kept bringing you back to him and he wondered if he ever would

he doesn't experience love in the way humans do. he's fully capable of doing it, but he doesn't understand why he's feeling the way he is. fuzzy? warm? he doesn't know how to describe it. why do his thoughts keep wandering back to you?

it isn't until you rest your hand on top of his that he realizes it. he likes you

it's the first question that pops into his head. he has to have justification and reasoning behind everything he does, but he doesn't have a clear answer for this. maybe it's because of your kindness? your respect for his people that other humans lack?

whatever the reasoning, it's too late to back out. he tries. he can't turn off what he thinks

he's pretty subtle at first, complimenting your outfit or appearance, but when you don't catch on he has to up the ante a little bit. so he becomes super blatant, straight up holding your hand and hugging you like he sees humans do

when he tells you he likes you, you don't reply at first. he thinks you don't reciprocate and goes to back away until you finally blurt out how you've liked him for months and it's why you wanted to be around him all the time

he's flattered. if he could blush, he would be. it's funny, seeing a man as intimidating as ramattra get flustered over a humans words

anyway, onto the actual dating

sooo protective. he will do anything to keep you safe. human bodies are fragile and he does not want any harm to come to you

he isn't very big on pda, but he doesn't mind the occasional side hug or whatever you want to do. he doesn't understand much of human affections in general but he will participate in private

he just worries that cuddling might be uncomfortable for you, but you always reassure him that you always feel comfortable while he's by your side even if it's unconventional

he's generally really sweet in a relationship. his favorite thing to do with you is to spend time with you. nothing too fancy or extravagent, as long as he's with you, it's enough

his love language is quality time. it's what he understands best, and what means the most to him. time is a fickle thing and ramattra knows that very well. it's best to spend it with loved ones

he can't kiss, but he will press his forehead to yours as a way to show his affection for you in that way

definitely takes you out on dates! he won't bring you to restaurants often, as he wants something he can do with you, so he'll bring you star gazing a lot. he knows a lot about the stars for some reason

he's really supportive. he makes sure you know how proud he is of you. you show him an art piece? it's the most beautiful thing he's ever seen (other than you, of course). you show him a sample from a song you're writing/composing? he'll praise you for your talents

he has a tough exterior, but when you break down his walls he's such a softie

he's so caring, so genuine in his feelings for you and it means the world to see him being so open about what he's experiencing

he often felt alone in the world before you, living only to fufill the goal every omnic wished for. now? he has you, a reason to keep going. not for everyone, but for himself

revalink flower shop x tattoo shop omgg... who runs which shop how do they meet are they competitive with their businesses do they give each other cute things from their shops 👁

god it would work either way, but ultimately i think link would own the tattoo shop and revali would own the flower shop. i only decided it because revali seems like the type to have to do multiple sessions for the tiniest tattoo because his pain tolerance is low for tattoos LMAO bro is sitting there like "it doesn't hurt i swear" meanwhile his face is red and he's sucking in his lips trying not to burst into tears ready to shit his pants, but the needle hasn't even touched his skin yet ✋😭

this au could go in a couple different ways: (1) link and revali hate each other and fight all the time about being the better store (boring!), (2) there's no rivalry and link and revali are mutually interested in each other (better, but a bit ooc i feel), or (3) link moves in and becomes more and more curious as he catches glimpses of his (((attractive))) store-neighbor while secretly hopeless romantic revali is grumpy and annoyed about how off-putting a tattoo shop will look next to his flower shop and there's a very mild one-sided rivalry mentality on his end, but as link tries to get to know revali better, revali thinks, perhaps this wouldn't be so bad. you already know what i'm about to write about rn lmfao.

revali's flower shop "the meadow" has been open on tabantha street for a couple years now. he thinks of himself as a very good florist, probably the best in the entire city of hyrule, and he's actually won a couple floral design competitions??? revali inherited the shop from his parents after they passed and he gets fairly good business, especially because everyone who lives on this street are hopeless romantics who are always buying bouquets for dates or to bring home to their spouses. revali will roll his eyes and scoff lightheartedly to his customers about how mushy it all is (but inside, he wants the same for himself; to go home to someone he loves with a bouquet of flowers. revali wonders sometimes, when he watches customers leave with red roses in hand, if he was meant to ever find love. he looks over at the vase of forget-me-nots on the counter; perhaps, one day).

the retail space next to revali's shop has been empty for a couple years and revali is thinking about expanding into the space when suddenly, the space gets rented out and in moves some blond twink with a fully tatted up arm with his dumb little tattoo shop called "master ink zero" or some shit. revali comes in to work one day only for there to be construction going on in the empty space he's been eyeing for a while, and that cute blond twink is standing in front of it talking to one of the workers. what the fuck. all this construction noise is going to scare revali's soft-hearted hopeless romantic customers away! the blond notices him and holds a hand up to wave a little, but revali just glares and turns away to unlock the door to his shop. he could really let that kid have it, but he holds his tongue because he needs to open the store. (he is kind of cute though... stop it, bad revali!)

the day continues as smoothly as it can with construction noise muffled through one of the shop's walls giving revali a migraine. fortunately, his regulars still come but unfortunately, every single one of them comments on the construction.

"you're going to get a new neighbor!" amali says as revali rings up the regular bouquet for her husband kass. "how exciting! you won't be lonely anymore."

"what a curious mix," muses saki when she enters the shop. "a flower shop and a tattoo parlor next to each other. you know, my teba and i are quite the opposites ourselves and they say opposites attract, so—" and revali flushes, squawking and ushering her out. she only laughs at him and bids him well.

the moment his friend urbosa steps into the store to visit, revali knows that she knows and immediately regrets his entire life. "have you proposed marriage to him yet?" she asks, smirking and sits on the counter.

"get off of my counter, i just wiped that down," revali snipes at her, frowning. "whatever do you mean, propose?"

"to blondie next door," she says, cocking her head to the side towards the construction. revali rolls his eyes but she continues. "he's your type down to a T."

"and he's going to scare off my customers," he replies and returns to spraying his vase of forget-me-nots. "i could care less whether or not he's my type."

urbosa hums. "well he's cute and he seems like a nice kid." suddenly, her gaze shifts into something more serious and revali's shoulders tense. "revali... forgive me if i overstep, but i know you've been alone for a while. you've been running this shop for years, working nonstop. i don't think you've ever had a moment to yourself. it might be nice to take a leap of faith on this one, you know?"

revali reverts his attention back to the forget-me-nots and doesn't say anything else, touching the petals with gentle fingers. urbosa sighs. "just consider it, okay? i care about you and i want you to be happy."

"i know," he murmurs. "i know. i'll think about it. only because you asked me to, though. not because he's my type." urbosa smiles and punches his shoulder lightly, to which revali wrinkles his nose at her. he'll think about it.

somehow, the tattoo shop finishes construction in the next week (that bolson construction company sure is efficient...) and opens. revali should probably go over to congratulate his new neighbor with a bouquet of daffodils and white carnations, but he's already glared them down the first time he saw them. with an oddly uncomfortable feeling in his chest, he keeps to himself in his little flower shop, tending to his vase of forget-me-nots and all his other flowers.

(but just because revali doesn't want to visit doesn't mean that link won't 👁️)

the soft chime of a bell alerts revali that a customer has stepped into the store. "welcome to the meadow," he starts, looking up from his computer to the door, "what can i help you with—?" and the rest of his words are stuck in his throat. there, in the threshold of his store, is the blond twink with the fully tatted arm staring at revali with wide, bright blue eyes.

revali never actually got a good look at him when they saw each other the first time. the blond is wearing a loose green tank top, black leather jeans, and combat boots, and his tatted arm is fully on display, swirling with deliberate strokes of ink. he's quite toned and lean, now that revali has gotten a closer look. definitely not his type. he's not!

"hi," the blond says, his voice as soft as the doorbell. "i'm link. i'm the... owner of the tattoo shop next door." he's got freckles, revali thinks faintly before he can actually process any other words.

"really? i wouldn't have ever known with your entire arm covered in tattoos," he says instead. "perhaps you were actually a receptionist or a dog walker who stumbled upon my humble shop." revali cringes internally after the words leave his mouth; he didn't mean to come off that rude for their first proper interaction. he just wanted to be a little rude.

but link only smiles at him, small but genuine, and a feeling grows in revali's chest that he can't quite name. "i'm not sure i'd be very good at either of those things," he says and steps a little closer to the counter, hands in his pockets.

"and who's to say you're any good at tattooing either?" revali mutters, and he doesn't mean for link to actually hear it, but he does, much to revali's chagrin.

link cocks his head, still smiling. "you could come by and find out," he says, and revali blinks at him. they maintain each other's gaze for a couple moments, link's eyes bright and wide, until revali finally tears his gaze away back to his computer. he can't read a single word on the screen.

"revali," he says instead, still keeping his eyes on the screen. it's almost feels difficult to get the words out. "my name is revali."

"hi revali," link says, leaning against the counter now. "it's nice to meet you." then, he glances up at the clock mounted above revali's head. "i have to get back now, i just wanted to properly introduce myself to you now that we'll be working next door to each other. i hope to see you around." with that, link stands up, bows his head a little, and gives revali another smile before leaving.

(and if revali stared after him and the way those leather jeans hugged his figure quite nicely, no he didn't.)

and that's how it starts 😳 at first i considered having link also keep to his own shop at first, but i don't think that does his "character" justice in the game. if you consider us as players to be equivalent to botw link's character (i.e. how we maneuver link in-game, what dialogue options we choose, etc), then link has this natural curiosity about the world around him and wants to explore and talk to new people. so of COURSE if he sees that his neighbor is hot, he's going to want to come over and say hiiiii *twirls his hair*

revalink shenanigans ensue <3 in the beginning, link would randomly drop by during the week for a minute or two, to say hi and make small talk with revali and at first, revali wouldn't say much eyeing the blond. but his short responses and cold demeanor don't deter link; it seems to spur him on, the blond smiling brightly at him with every greeting and with every goodbye.

one day, link comes in and after he says hello, he starts walking around the store looking at the flowers like he's a customer. revali blinks and watches link walk around, dumbfounded.

"what are you doing?" revali says.

"looking at the flowers," link says. he gently touches the edges of the flowers' petals as he moves between the aisles, the same way that revali treats the flowers. "i want to put some on our reception desk. i think it would look really nice." he stops before a cluster of sunflowers and then looks at revali. "can i get some of these?"

revali faintly notes how well link resembles the bright flowers, before scoffing. "if you're going to get flowers to greet your customers, you might as well put some effort into it!" he snips, crossing his arms. "sunflowers are a good choice, but sunflowers only are bland. here, if you were to add some of these—"

he ends up walking link around the entire adding flowers to the ones in link's hand and talking about the different meanings and nuances of flowers, until the arrangement has become a bouquet of sunflowers, gladiolus flowers, jasmine flowers, and calendulas, surrounded by a bunch of little white chamomiles.

"there," revali says, putting his hands on his hips and puffing up proudly. "now that is a bouquet worthy to greet customers."

"it's very beautiful," link comments. he gazes at the bouquet and touches the flowers with those ever so gentle fingers skirting the edges of the petals. "thank you for helping me put it together. how much does it cost?"

and that stops revali in his tracks, his hands dropping to his sides. he totally forgot that link wanted to get flowers for his own store and came here acting like a customer. "yes, the matter of payment," revali starts, blinking and brain scrambling, "well, then, just think of it as a welcoming gift."

"a welcoming gift?" link echoes, cocking his head at revali with those wide blue eyes.

"yes!" revali says, his face beginning to flush. "because your store is still brand new and i hadn't welcomed you properly either..." revali looks away, feeling his cheeks burn. "it's the least i can do..."

when he looks back at link, that familiar smile has returned to his face, eyes sparkling. "thank you, revali," link says, voice soft. "that's really nice of you." and revali's heart flutters.

"well, of course!" he stammers, willing his face not to burn brighter than it already is. "you're fortunate enough to be neighbors with me, the kindest, most benevolent, and gentlemanly florist in all of hyrule." link smiles brighter at him, holding the flowers to his chest and revali looks away, the pounding in his heart so intense he wonders if it will punch through his ribcage out onto the floor.

link starts coming in on mondays and wednesdays during his lunch break just to talk to revali, and gets him to talk more about the meanings of the flowers and the nuances of different colors, the best way to arrange flowers, etc., link happily listening along. it takes some time for revali to get used to, the sound of their voices filling the usually quiet shop for that sacred half hour but once it's set into place, revali looks forward to it every week (though he'll never admit it out loud).

"don't you eat during a lunch break?" revali comments once, after finishing a spiel about invasive flowers to never plant. link hums questioningly at him. "it's a lunch break. aren't you hungry?"

"oh," link says. "i guess?" and right on cue, a rumble comes from the blond's stomach and he looks up at revali with a sheepish smile. "ahah... i got so caught up talking to you i forgot i had to eat."

revali rolls his eyes, then sighs looking up at the clock. "we still have 20 minutes," he says. "come on, let's go to the cafe."

"cafe?" link repeats, as revali grabs his phone, wallet, and keys. "there's a cafe here?"

"had you paid much more attention to anywhere else but me, you'd have known," revali says, but link still stares at him with his head tilted, waiting for an answer. "one of my regulars, amali, runs the 'birdbath' cafe just down the street. she has an assortment of meals for you to choose from, you can just get one to-go."

they enter the cafe and amali starts greeting them until she realizes it's revali and then realizes it's revali with a guest and she's like IS THIS YOUR NEW NEIGHBOR??? and he's reservedly like Yeah... and now amali is fussing all over link and asking him about how he's settling in, is everything going okay, is revali nice to you, you can come in anytime you'd like! revali is like Pls....... we have 15 minutes until link has to go back to work just give him food girl

link is very excited about the entire menu because everything looks really good. "i'll have to come back here to try everything!" he tells amali and she's ecstatic. "i'm telling you, come back anytime! you're always welcome here," she says warmly.

and when link gets ready to pay, revali brushes him aside and offers his card to amali. amali gives revali a knowing look and accepts the card, but link looks up at him confused. "you don't have to..." he starts.

"i'll pay for you this time," revali mutters, averting his eyes. "i'm the one who dragged you out here after all." and link stares with those huge blue eyes.

"thank you," he says softly. "you're so kind, revali."

"that's our revali!" amali chuckles, handing revali his card back. "he might seem like all high and mighty, but he's really just a softie inside. why do you think he runs a flower shop?"

"amali!" revali gripes, flushing. "please just get link his food." he glances back at link, who's still gazing at him with an expression that revali doesn't know how to read. he looks at revali so softly, so tenderly, and... fond. revali swallows and adjusts his collar. is it hot in here or is it just him?

link coming in to buy a bouquet of lilies for zelda and revali goes all tense and upset and is like. is that your gf. and link is like GOD NO that's my twin sister and lilies are her favorite flower and revali relaxes and is like oh. that's nice of you to get her some (but is secretly pleased that link doesn't have a significant other)

urbosa coming to visit the store at a time when link is there on his lunch break, and they get to introduce themselves to each other properly. revali is sitting there sweating the entire time and when link tells urbosa about how he comes here to spend his lunch breaks, urbosa smirks at revali, who's ready to shit himself

(urbosa texting revali later congratulating him on tapping that ass. revali screams at her that he has NOT done that. and she replies with "yet?". he threatens to block her)

everyone else on tabantha street realizing that link and revali are kind of having a Thing™ going on between them. and they all start planning to try to get them together. there's a reason why i have "i won't say i'm in love" from disney's hercules on my revalink playlist because everyone is getting in on Operation: Revalink trying to push revali into asking link out and he's like no nothing is going on between us i swear except he's spends all his breaks and off-time with link, taking him to cafes and paying for everything link orders, sitting in on tattoo sessions because link invites him over, teaching link how to make bouquets... ok so maybe they have something going on, leave me alone saki, i'm not going to ask him out

THIS WILL BE THE LAST SCENARIO I TALK ABOUT bc this post is so damn long now, but i imagine a scene where link asks revali about the vase of flowers on the counter and what kind of flowers they are. revali looks over at the forget-me-nots he's been carefully tending to and inhales, and tells link.

"those are forget-me-nots," revali says, in a voice that's uncharacteristically soft and vulnerable. it makes link sit up, becoming much more attentive to revali's demeanor. "they're perennial hardy flowers that die in the winter but regrow again during the spring. there's an old story about these little ones, where a knight and his lover were walking alongside a river. the knight reached down to pick the flowers that were growing near the river, but his armor was too heavy and he ended up falling in, only to be swept away by the river's current. if you ask me, it's a foolish way to go; why was he wearing such heavy armor anyway? but as he floated away, he threw the flowers he picked to his lover and shouted, 'forget me not!' and the flower was named as such."

revali reaches over to pull the vase closer and places it in between him and link. the flowers are small and delicate little things, a sweet shade of blue with a yellow center. both he and link touch the flowers as they do, with gentle fingers against the edges of the petals.

"these were the flowers that my father offered when he was courting my mother," revali says, gaze faraway. "as you can see, it worked out." he gestures to himself and link smiles. "they're supposed to represent everlasting love, a love so true and strong that it can't be forgotten." he pauses, rubbing a petal in between his fingers before continuing. "i've always wanted to offer a bouquet of these to someone that i love, in the same way my father did for my mother. as sentimental as it is, it's... romantic and meaningful."

"it is," link agrees softly. "whoever you give these flowers to will be very lucky to have someone like you." and revali makes the mistake of looking up to meet link's gaze, because that's where everything about him changes.

when he looks at link, the sun is shining through the windows of the shop, casting a golden glow over the blond. he gazes at revali with those wide blue eyes, the ones that revali has become increasingly enamored with in the time they've spent together, the same color as the forget-me-nots. beautiful, revali thinks and this time he doesn't shy away from the thought because it's true.

then, he takes a flower from the vase and reaches over the counter to slip it behind link's ear, tucking his hair as he goes. link stills, his eyes growing wider and his cheeks turning a faint shade of pink as revali's fingers touch his skin, gentle and featherlight, and for a moment in time, they're the closest they've ever been to each other since they've met. revali could probably count all of the freckles on spread across link's nose and cheeks. in this moment, revali wouldn't mind if they got closer than this. he'd like it a lot, actually.

but he pulls away and sits back down, admiring the way the flower sits prettily behind his ear, contrasting against link's golden hair and tan skin in the sunlight. link is still wide-eyed and pink-faced and it makes revali smile (just a little!). Ngl I do pat myself on the shoulder for writing Thorfinn in character (only cuz I am so obsessed I have to understand him 👁👄👁) but it makes me happy that Canute is seen like that, too!

Hm, I never thought of poly relationships but I think for it to start (and Thorfinn having an Trio is super cute, especially if its chaotic) I think it works best when Thorfinn and Reader are still Canute's guards. HOWEVER they'd have to do more than just travel (find themselves in shenanigans) AND Ragnar would have to be away a lot. The man is a massive mother hen who would not allow Canute to grow, let alone speak to the other two on his own.

For the vibe I'd say it's similiar to Spongebob, Patrick and Sandy (with Canute switching between Sandy, the voice of reason and Spongebob, who curiously goes along with Patrick's plans).

Thorfinn is 100% Patrick with his stupid ideas 😭 his overconfidence in his intelligence and strength causes him to think he's better than anyone. He thinks ALL the choices he makes are the best for Reader and Canute but no, no they're not. And when someone points it out that no, he's dumb, he's like "the inner machinations of my mind are an enigma" -> gets beaten to a pulp by Askeladd

And meek Canute just goes with it cuz he don't know better 😭 or he's like I've got no choice I have to trust these idiots to keep me safe

After his awakening he'd wake up as Sandy with an actual mind and thinking for himself. He'd often chastises the both of you for your poor decision-making.

And Reader definetely switches between Spongebob and Sandy too. Either they talk Thorfinn out of stupid things and get him outta trouble or just goes along with it completely because they trust him so much and are like 'do it or die - all with Thorfinn, my bestie!' while talking Canute into it too with the promise that they will look out for him.

It's just

Thorfinn does stupid and reckless thing -> Reader joins and drags Canute with them-> Canute cries not wanting to be there and tries to be the voice of reason

Thorfinn does reckless stuff-> Reader gets mad and chastises him for it, makes better plan -> like a child of divorce Canute looks between them and just tries to get along with the best thing and wants to please both of them.

hiiiiii <3 when i saw this last night i ALSO went deep in the pointy objects tag to find the asks ur referencing but also a littol trip down memory lane ahead of getting started writing. we all know the drill by now all of my ramblings are below the cut <3

first of all (because u sent this one first) ur very right about shuuichi being a little bit of a bozo wrt: noticing rantarou's having a Precog Moment. he's (rantarou) has grown pretty used to getting hit with brief flashes of the future, so he's pretty good at maintaining a poker face when he's struck by one. we see it the sliiiightest bit way back in ch1 while rantarou is driving, and in the middle of speaking he is hit with a vision — it's not something he elaborates on but he does see more or less what ends up happening once the monsters rush the car. naturally makoto and byakuya are good at sussing out when he's having one — and as a very heavy aside, it was a vision of him and shuuichi as best buddies his first day of school that had him pursuing the friendship so ardently, and ultimately got them where they are now. brothers <3

and yes back to those asks!!! they are up to like.....jesus christ late-2019 was over 4 years ago at this point so THEREfore so are the asks. that said, in reading over them all again i don't think there's anything i said way back when that doesn't hold at least slightly true currently (with one exception, being the mystery poly relationship ending, and that's more to do with issues i foresee in incorporating it into the fic itself in a way that makes sense). the ones about nagito though? DEFINITELY still bang all this time later

which leads me into: your questions! there is definitely a level of respect nagito allows towards makoto (byakuya....not So much LOL) but when you know a guy for thousands and thousands and thousands of years.....and he marries the obnoxious rich guy in what is so *obviously* a downgrade for a big five god like himself (not unlike how nagito at least somewhat views hajime as having somewhat "settled" for nagito; i could go on and on about the inner machinations of po!nagito i love that stupid fuck for how comparatively little he's on-screen)...............nagito is a little disappointed. even all this time later. he is not byakuya's biggest fan LMFAO

tbh so much of my early answers on nagito (aside from how he was actually Present the first few chapters, so it made sense) stem directly from the fact he (+ shuuichi) are the direct inspiration for pointy objects as a whole. specifically this video, which i credit ch1 as being the catalyst for pointy objects becoming.......well almost 200k and counting. shuuichi as percy's counterpart and nagito as dionysus the unpaid, eternally cursed camp counselor (with hajime as mr brunner, thankfully hoofless) was the starting point for pointy objects FOR sure, and it's just expanded quite a lot past that over all this time. that video jumpstarted the idea in my sister (who handed it over to me pretty much from the get-go), and the pjo musical is what i loosely structured the lore/plot around, but i think the observations i've heard from readers that pointy objects does well at expanding well past the boundaries of the source material hold true! if you do happen to take a peek at the linked video, though: pretty much the whole of ch2 was very heavily inspired by the song which i think is obvious on reread. that sprite edit started it all fr thank you youtube user evie

Actually rewriting drafts. A lot of the time, I don't typically rewrite drafts, but for some of the Ghosts ficxs, I've actually got multiple different versions of fics LOL

Uhh I'd say I've definitely developed a stylised way of writing? Which, is actually pretty much just the way I write normally AHA - a lot pauses in strange places, and of course the angsty internal monologuing. I also like messing with structure when I can (Unfortunate House of Leaves simp over here)

Catching when my tenses slip. I don't know why, it might be due to roleplaying, but I find that I often flip between past and present tense in the middle of writing (where it wouldn't make sense to) But I've been able to catch it, lately. Makes editing fics a bitch LOL

top 2 writing resolutions:

Last fandom I wrote fics for got a grand total of three fics because I didn't get to finish the others LOL, and then I kind of drifted off to other things (it's still some of my best angst work, so hopefully I can bring that energy to the Ghosts. The character I fixated on actually might have some similarities to Logan ssooo 👁 👁)

Maybe trying to branch out more? My two modes of writing are Hurt/No Comfort (hilarious, because I hate reading Hurt/No Comfort) and Whump so maybe I can try smth else? Maybe romance? Definitely not something I'm familiar with writing, but it feels like something I could try. (The real issue is finding ships I wanna write about /hj)

A hint of resignation acted as dust upon the reflection's surface; a house haunted by time more than any other phantom.

and then this giant excerpt from a WIP abt Hesh :)

Occasionally, a glimpse will come to Hesh’s mind. Sometimes it’s intrusive, lightning flashing against a canopy of dark clouds, shaking the foundations of his mind with a deafening roar. Sudden, brief and violent in nature. Other times it’s… slow. Easy and gentle, like ocean waves crawling their way up the beach; soft, hushed. Almost comforting, if not for the deep grief that the tide often brought with it, the wind brushing by carrying the faint echoes of laughter and excited voices.

On days like this, the wind only seems to carry his own distant screams. The tide now feels lonelier than it ever did. That one set of footprints trailing in the sand was just that; a single set. The second set of imprints settled in his own stride now gone. 

Instead, the ghost of his shadow is embedded yards away, a trench dug out by desperately grasping hands, reaching for anything. Reaching for him.  

It’s still the gentle ease of a memory washing over him, sea foam gathering, swaying and receding slowly, but that’s perhaps what makes it worse. The slowness. The time he has to sit there and dismantle himself from the inside out, while his own head taunts him with things he no longer has, can no longer reach out for. Even the ebb and flow of water can wear down cliffs with enough time, steady and persistent in its movements.

Lately I've been having a hard time writing anything. I keep having ideas that I think are good then I sike myself out and go "Oh, someone else has probably already written that," which is weird, cause I'd read 500 fics of the same ship in the same coffeeshop!au and not even bat an eye. I don't care if I've read the same trope or setting or idea over and over (I like it, actually) but when I'm the one writing I feel like I have to do something totally unique and I think it's cause I'm worried of being compared to other better writers who just... write better (<- exhibit A) OR worse, accidentally plagiarize someone? Like without remembering that, oh I've already read this before this isn't an original thought at all?? But if it's an idea that hasn't been done before there's nothing to compare. Right. So. Therapy session over.

Do you ever worry about writing something that's already been written? Do you ever check AO3 tags to see if somethings been done before/too much/not enough, etc.? Or are you excited to write something that's been done and put your own spin on it?

Maybe I should do the complete opposite and find the most overpopulated tag and write that so it gets drowned in the others and then there's too many to compare! That's like.. can't beat 'em join 'em or smthin. Yeah.

so yes i worry and i check and i feel absolutely terrible about it . but if i dont and i just feel great about writing Something at alll then it always turns out 1000% better because im not upset abt it ! readers can sometimes tell ur enthusiasm and passion being put into a work, and i think its best if u let it all go and write what ur heart is calling to . that by itself will make it all the special u need it to be

but you don’t know if you’re more shocked at the fact that he genuinely, genuinely doesn’t know— or if you’re irritated.

you immediately dismiss the idea of being overtly irritated at him because of this. you just can’t find it in yourself to be annoyed at his curiosity. it’s authentic especially with the way he stares at you with such softness in his eyes, and also as if like whatever you’re about to say is the law.

and that he must obey you.

you slap a hand over your mouth when your ramble came to a full stop. superb attractiveness? world stopping good looks?? why did you actually say that out loud? you can’t say you take those words back, they do hold truth.

for some reason, you couldn’t muster up the courage meet his gaze— which felt hotter and intenser than his, and endeavor’s left side combined. so much for being honest and direct.

you finally look at him, only to find out that shouto’s much closer than you’ve recalled. you can really get a look at his face— his beauty, and you just don’t know how shouto doesn’t see what you’re seeing— what everyone with eyes and a functioning common sense is seeing.

you try to read his expression as best as you can— but it’s to no avail. he’s unreadable.

“yeah.” you admit rather quickly, and something like satisfaction crosses shouto’s features. you hope he can’t feel the heat of your cheeks.

suddenly, shouto steps forward— and you would’ve tripped on your own feet like a fool, if it weren’t for shouto’s fast reflexes.

 I love to pick apart character studies and try to really understand the character. And Ren is just a great case.

We are literally getting PLAYED. He calculated every last little detail. He knows the type of men we like, and literally altered his personality to be like that. We joke about his Haruko personality and how submissive and cute it is but I don’t think we realize enough that he did that JUST so we would feel easy around him and fall in love. And we did. We literally played right into his hand.

Some of us know, some of us don’t care and some of us don’t REALLY understand just how far ren has Gone.

He’s dedicated his ENTIRE life to you (since elementary) just because you made a promise to marry him when you were like 9. Then here we are 20 or older and he’s still infatuated.

He has mentally diluted hisself into thinking that you are the only person that he could possibly fall in love with. He has been obsessed you for over a decade ( or decades).

Another thing people aren’t really paying attention to is that Ren, can—will and most likely HAS murdered. we can’t forget this. Ren doesn’t mentally have the capacity to care about anyone except for the MC. If he needed to kill a homeless man, skin him alive and sell him for cash or something he would do it.

Ren is so cute and a pink sub hottie ➡️ Ren is an darker styled man who is a murderer and will dominate you.

very suspicious indeed 🤨 (I also headcannon that before V&V captured Floyd, they had put Star in a glass perfume bottle instead of diamond)

Star had somewhat came up with a plan that after V&V had used her after their last concert and after the duo left, that night she would make the bottle fall, making it break, using her hair to go up the HVAC system (does this plan make sense at all? 😭)

that morning, Velvet was pissed at the fact Star escaped, thats when the duo decided to use diamond next time, since it's impossible to break.

even though she injured her shoulder during the fall, she maneged to escape Mount Ragous (is that how it's spelled???) and make it back to Pop Village (dw her shoulder ended up healing on her way back to the village (it took her A VERY LONG time to get back since she traveled on foot)

when she finally got back, the whole village was worried about Star but most importantly worried about her hair so she just simply replied 'I just did some exploring and plus, I think it's a good look'

(obviously lying, but the village bought it without suspicion)

a year later, Star tried dying her hair back to the original color but, it didn't work over and over Star thought she was doing something worng until.....

at the doctors office, they explained that whatever happened to her (Star didn't tell the doctors what exactly happened) it had caused Stars hair to now be white PERMANENTLY, meaning she can't dye it, and that she'll either have to deal with it or wear a wig

Star thought 'no big deal, bet it won't mess with my popularity or fame since I'm a solo singer lol, it's just hair'

but damn, was she wrong

turns out when you have white hair, people consider you a 'freak' or find the hair 'unnatural' and a 'unnecessary change' 😕

so Stars manager (aka her cousin, Anthony) had recommend her wearing a wig that looked exactly like her original hair so that way, she would keep her popularity

ramble about Listen please!!! i'm bored and I love reading rambling analyses of episodes

oh god please strap in because i’m gonna talk a whole lot of nonsense to you

listen is literally one of my favorite doctor who episodes ever. obviously the super fun plot-driven and action packed episodes like turn left, journeys end, the end of time, heaven sent/hell bent, and spyfall are high on my list of favorites, but listen has a special place in my heart that i cant really describe coherently but ill do my best.

also gonna offer my analysis of the episode for those who maybe just don't Get the episode or see it the way i do. i know it's an often hated episode so i’m hoping maybe i can change some minds here 👁

okay so the overarching theme of the episode for me is that everyone is scared of something in their lives - be it something big that takes over your whole life or small everyday fears - but regardless of the size or importance of those fears, they are always a product of our own creation. it’s also kind of a metaphor for anxiety i think? and other similar types of disorders? that we’re scared of stuff that isn't even real sometimes, it’s just something that our mind has crafted for us

let me explain: the doctor goes on about being afraid of the "monster under the bed" that he often dreams about. in the episode, we find out that the monster under the bed that he is referring to was actually clara visiting him as a child and grabbing his foot when he stepped out of bed. like if the doctor didn't become what they became and met the people they met.. the whole interaction would not have happened at all!! its paradoxical!! and we love that!!! the whole thing the doctor is afraid of is a product of itself

clara has her own fears to work through in the episode as well, her date with danny is going terribly. its definitely not comparable in terms of scale when you put it next to the doctor’s fear here, but that’s exactly the point! big vs small fears but all are fears nonetheless

which is where the “fear is a constant companion” line fits.. that people are always afraid of something even if it’s something miniscule to someone else. i just love it because also a big theme of the episode is “fear is a superpower” right? that we all have fears, but instead of cowering in a corner and letting it consume us, we should instead use the fear to do great things!! fear can make you fast, jump higher, fear can make you kind whatever the quote is from the episode lmao you get the idea

fear making you kind hits my heart in the right spot okay because that’s literally the doctor’s whole motivation for what they do! they help people! they save planets!! they use their fear to do good things!!! (thinking about the parallel between the doctor and the master here.. “you want me to be scared because you're scared of everything” or w/e that quote is. but i wont detract this post from it’s original purpose by getting all thoschei on you)

so i think by the end of it, the doctor realizes that him being afraid is a product of his own imagination. he went to the end of the dang universe to find the source, but still managed to be afraid even when there was absolutely nothing outside of the door. (which tbh.. the source of the actual tangible thing he feared was with him the whole time! because it was clara!!)

and clara worked through her fear of ruining the date with danny, she goes back to apologize to him and he does the same, they make up, they make out, everything is happy

i think also partially the reason she Does go back to danny to make things right is because of meeting orson? that there’s hints that he is a descendent of clara and/or danny.. so she has seen that possible future and either genuinely wants it to happen or assumes that it has to? 

which brings me to another point about the episode.. i see a lot of people hating on it Because of the orson thing.. that they hinted at danny and clara staying together and having children, etc, etc but then killed danny like 6 episodes later?? i get it i guess.. but for me that really doesn't matter lmao?? \

how many times have we seen a potential future for the earth/the human race? that was either good or bad?? or just in general where someone made a choice to rewrite time or saw a potential future?? the long game? and bad wolf/the parting of the ways? new earth??? gridlock? utopia? last of the time lords/the sound of drums was literally a whole year that never happened?? the doctor’s daughter? the waters of mars? the hungry earth/cold blood?? the angels take manhattan?? journey to the centre of the tardis? heaven sent/hell bent? smile? oxygen? extremis/the pyramid at the end of the world/the lie of the land?? orphan 55?? 

these all can’t coexist like none of them are certain.. time can be rewritten it’s literally such a big theme of the show!! like orson was just a potential future, he wasn’t guaranteed. plus.. what are the chances that he isn’t related to either of them and the details just match up that well? coincidences happen! or maybe he’s from a parallel universe!! anything can happen.

idk i just see that as the biggest critique of the episode but for me it really isn’t a dealbreaker

enough of the small rant i want to conclude my analysis of the episode

i love quirky and different episodes like listen where the alien/threat/whatever is something more introspective? that it makes you think a bit before it clicks? 

also i just love the whole idea of clara going back in time to comfort baby doctor because esp now with what we know about the timeless child i think they deserve it 🥺 (i’ve made some posts about wanting the doctor to visit themself as the timeless child and do something similar.. not interfere.. just give some encouragement because they need it. but again.. i wont derail the original purpose of this post)

i also love how she tells the doctor to never look back at where they had been.. i like to think that he didn't ever look but something in him Knows.. i love the way he smiles at the end when he underlines “LISTEN” on his chalkboard. like the memory of that night came back to him but it was a little different than he remembered, there was a familiar voice in it this time. but it might just be the effects of time on an old memory like that, filling in the blanks with what’s familiar now.

and i just love the ending so much, after the tension of waiting for the reveal of who the child was that clara was hiding under the bed, we get to see her speak to the child softly, telling him about dreams and fears, and how it will shape him in the future. and the way the music builds with the voiceover and clara is hugging the doctor at the console and she’s going back to danny and they kiss and it’s all coming together into a crescendo with the quote “fear makes companions of us all”

i just love the callback to an unearthly child.. it just always warms my heart when there’s a reference to classic who because this silly show has been around for so long and it has done so much for me and i just have a lot of emotions okay

so yeah.. hopefully literally any of this makes sense i’m just rambling. hopefully this is everything you hoped for when you sent this ask lmao

•LOVES SHOWERING WITH YOUU!! claims it’s cause he hates being away from you and not that he just wants a bit of action. “am i not aloud spend time with my favourite girl now?” will definitely help you clean yourself and secretly use and scrubs you have if you use them, SKDNSJND i just got a vision 👁👁. issei with a bright pink shower cap. makki got him it as a gag gift but he actually uses it cause, personally i think he has really thick curls, like you see his hair in the timeskip. so he doesn’t like washing it or getting it wet everytime he showers so he wears that and pulls it off somehow.

•uhhhh idc idc this man can sing! like he has a really nice smooth deep voice that can but you to sleep.(in a good way) which is why he loves karaoke and drags you to the karaoke bar for a date every few weeks. he’s much more open after a few drinks so expect a full blown performance dedicated to you at some point in the night.

•he is a dog person no arguement. and i just see him with a dog like a pitbull or german shepherd(makki is definitely scared of them) and if it’s a girl you know he’s getting it a sparkly pink collar and dreaming her like his own daughter, same if it was a boy. you do sometimes get jealous when they take your spot on his lap on the couch or your side of the bed.

•loves shopping with you, especially for clothes cause he likes to dress well and likes seeing how excited you get trying on different outfits for him. makes you do a fashion show and doesn’t care if the fitting rooms are full of people, he’ll completely block them out and just look at you like your a model on the catwalk.

•idk if it’s just me but issei looks like a man that likes his drink (responsibly) which is why you frequently go to the club or just a local bar every weekend. but issei does love the club scene just cause you get more dressed up and look seggsy as hell, and he loves dancing all night (is definitely a sucker for 2000s classics and r&b) like phewww dancing to issei with maneater? plsss i can only dream. but if you just go to the bar he loves that to cause he doesn’t have to go all out and can just drink casually while spending time with you.

•one thing i can just invision while being in a relationship with issei is him only trusting you to cut his hair. like you used to go to this barbers in the town until one time he fucked up makkis hairline and they both haven’t gone since. so he asked you to (which you were quite skeptical of at first) but he convinced you he won’t care if you messed up, so you went at it and used different hair products on him cause you always complain about the 2-in-1 shampoo he uses is bad for his curls. when you finished mf looked like a whole new bitch. that was back in high school so now for the past years everytime he needs a haircut you pull a kitchen chair and the razor out. very domestic if you ask me.

•cannot cook for his life but claims he can. one time he said for a date night he’d cook and get the place cleaned this time so he sent you off for two hours while he cleaned the house and ordered your favourite takeaway. when you came home and smelt the food you were like ‘i know he didn’t’ and there he was in a nice ironed button up and slacks. “welcome home m’ dear. your table awaits”. “..do you really expect me to believe you cooked all this” “well i mean it’s the thought that counts”

•he loves singing and dancing with you around the house would definitely pull you away from what your doing just to pull you into his chest and dance with him. especially at like 2am in the kitchen when you can’t sleep he loves dancing with you then.

•his favourite thing in the world is to make you laugh. he adores your smile and the sound of your laugh could bring him up if he was having the worst day. like you two have that relationship where you could just look at each other and start DYING of laughter for what feels like hours and your just about stop and then look at each other and it starts all over again. and even his laugh alone would make you laugh cause it’s such a kettle wheeze it sounds like he’s wheezing up a lung. and he got them smoker lungs jk so whenever he laughs he just stops and coughs for so long, and it’s so funny so you keep laughing and then he laughs cause you are and it just goes on and on.

• makki says you two do things to annoy each other on purpose. like issei knows you hate when people keeping poking you or tickle you so if you’re on the couch and he’s bored of the show you’re watching he’ll do it until he gets a reaction out of you. “issei you’re fucking annoying me now stop i mean it!!” “hehehe” “what’s so funny? you know what just fuck off” “love you too sugar” << calls you those names when your mad at him to annoy you even more. you try to get back at him and do the same but it’s much harder to get a reaction out of him cause he’s really patient and good at keeping calm. but if he’s already in a mood and you start he’ll just shake his head and be like “don’t baby please”. so you know not to keep going.

• on that topic if your fighting he won’t go off unless it’s something big and it’s really not sitting with him. most times it’s you doing the shouting and thats one thing that pisses you off more. he just sits there and takes it, doesn’t even come back with a sarcastic retort or let a joke out. he just talks to you like it’s a normal conversation while your about to combust. so inside your like ‘please please just tell a joke or something please!’ so argument definitely are like: “do you just not care about my feelings then?” “i do” “then act like it!” “i am” “no your not! no you fucking are not!” “what do you want me to do then my dear?” “fucking stop acting like a jackass and actually show that you care about me and stop letting women feel you up every time we go out issei!” “ okay then i’ll do that from now on” “oh you’re such a fucking prick” “i guess i am” “just fuck off sleep on the couch for all i care, cause you obviously don’t care about me!” “i guess i don’t” results in you slamming the door extra hard and sitting alone for around an hour till you go back down and see him in the same position on the couch when you left him. “m’ sorry” he looks up at you when he hears your mumble. “sorry doll i didn’t hear you” “i said i’m sorry! are you happy now!” “very, now c’mere” he opens his arms for you to cuddle into.
