I also realize for a lot of people who followed me for fairy tail I probably sound hyper critical of media I watch and potentially like someone who just lives to criticize things so let me make a list of shows I genuinely enjoy:
Longer post so under the cut!
LoK was a show I got into as they were releasing promotional material for the first season, so right around when I got into fairy tail. I was there for every bit of content and deep in the trenches of defending it with my life. I still love this show and the cast dearly with my one wish being that it had more episodes and Nick didn't absolutely put the creators through the wringer during its production. It has a massive influence on me and I nearly cried in class when korrasami held hands.
It's been almost a decade since I started watching one piece and it is one of my favorite series of all time. I love the world building, love the cast, love the comedy and writing. Highly recommend it. I know the length is intimidating but boy is it worth it. (Fun fact, most merch I collect is for Jinbe because I adore him.)
Has this show aged perfectly? No. But I will rewatch it countless times and still sob my eyes out. The art style is a bit jarring on first watch but I have a strong love for it since it was one of the first anime I ever watched. The music is so lovely.
One of the best slice of life comedies I've seen. I used to hurt my ribs from laughing at this series as a teenager. It is a bit of a lesser known one but I'd say if you enjoy the comedy in fairy tail you should really give it a watch. The art style is adorable and the cast is so much fun.
Everyone has a clamp show they love, this one was mine. Another case of the art style being a bit weird at first but becoming part of the charm. A fun but sometimes heavy show with characters jumping dimensions. I love AUs so this show was my love. One day I'll have the guts to finish the manga. But boy were the OVAs rough emotionally.
This is a surprise to no one. I feel like this is a starter anime for most of the world and it makes sense because it is so well done. I can't even really say much about this that people don't already know themselves.
Yes, even the non canon ending. I love the art style, the world building, the cast, the designs. The music also is just so fantastic. In fact I'm a heathen who enjoyed the anime so much I opted not to read the manga despite hearing it went different.
I loved the original back when I was in high school and enjoyed every minute of the reboot, despite being late to the party. I love that the author made Tohru her own person and not just an audience surrogate and the complexity we see of cycles of abuse and people dealing with trauma. Heavy show, can't really recommend it to everyone because boy does it hit on some rough topics. But if you can watch it, do.
Frieren has everything I could ever want in a fantasy show with a magic system and each episode is a treat. I definitely need to read the manga. Won't prattle to much both because this is one of the shows I have very little to say since it sits quietly in me and I simply really enjoy it.
Barakamon to date is one of the funniest shows I've ever seen in my life and if you haven't watched it, I beg you to. Grumpy adult moving into a small town where he is promptly harassed by a far too friendly little girl who thinks he's neat. The gags are amazing and the characters are fun.
I tend to post on mobile so this is where I'll end for now. But hope this gives everyone an understanding that while I can be critical, I really do just enjoy things.
