#i just got to the part where groose follows link to the surface and i'm obsessed

it's crazy how skyward sword is becoming my favorite zelda game despite the fact that I've spent 2/3 of my time playing it suffering unbearably

ok i'm asking you because you've posted about how your girlfriend is playing skyward sword so i figure it's fresh in your memory... would you mind writing a short summary/timeline of what happens after the Fire Sanctuary battle and Zelda waking up from her crystal and being taken by Ghirahim? I've tried looking up summaries but there's nothing that goes into detail beyond "link goes through the gate of time and impa talks to him and then he goes back" etc and I don't have the patience for videos

Okay! So! If this is the right part, Link follows Ghirahim and Zelda through the Gate of Time. He talks to Impa, who says something along the lines of Ghirahim got the drop on me, he has Zelda, it's important you get her in time, I believe in you now. From here you can go back through the Gate of Time and restock on Skyloft, do side quests, etc, or you can exit the temple through the main doors, triggering the Ghirahim final fight. It's split into 3 parts: 1, the horde right, where you right through a ton of bokoblins and moblins down to the Imprisoned's Spike (the scene that plays before this is Ghirahim's little dance, he says why can't you just be a good boy, etc). 2. Ghirahim is annoyed (you're far too quick boy), reveals himself as a sword, and sends you and him into the air to fight on the platforms. Fight him, knock him down a few times, he lands on the ground with his core broken open and he's pissed. He brings out the B I G sword, you swing at him, you break his core, "What are you? I lost to a human, a child" cutscene. This flows into sike it was too late anyway, dramatic red tornado and as dying Ghirahim says hahaha you and your kind lost lmao get wrecked, Zelda gets tossed into the air, the Imprisoned rises and sucks out her soul (this is where I think I have the order confused but it's all kind of happening at the same time) Zelda falls but surprise! Groose came through the Gate of Time and catches her. Link turns back just in time to see Demise resurrected. Ghirahim says welcome back master, Demise Rios the sword from him, turns to Link like oh it's you if you want to fight follow me ig. Demise disappears, Groose says Impa says Zelda is alive and you have time to save her. End cutscene, another chance to refuel before fighting Demise. If you don't go back to Skyloft and enter the portal, Fi tells you you can't return unless you defeat Demise but she'll be by your side (good luck, I believe in you, etc) and you enter the Demise fight. Demise says something about how he's going to rule forever but you're a special human so at least try to make the fight interesting, will you? Enter phase 1 of Demise fight. (Btw if you use Fi on Demise she tells you to every person and in each epoch of he appears different, which is super cool and should have been expanded on) Fight him until he gets angry, then he summons lightning and you enter phase 2. Hit him a couple times, he lands on his back, you final blow him and there's a sick scene with Link stabbing him and backflipping away. Demise isn't dead and rises to his knees, Ghirahim's sword shatters into purple diamonds, Demise vows to place a curse on you and your kind (not bloodline, which is a common fandom misconception—the curse is on Hylians in general not just Link and Zelda's descendants if I remember correctly) and Demise dies. Fi says you eradicated him finally. You return to the Sealed Grounds. Enter the Sealed Temple and Impa says yay you did it, turn around and reunite with Zelda and Groose (Link it's finally over, Legend of Groose line (pretty sure this happens now and not earlier), Fi tells you she has to stay in the past. Put her back on the pedestal, she says she thinks she's happy and enjoyed her time with Link, go back to present. The old woman reveals herself as Impa and gives Zelda back her bracelet before fading like Ghirahim and Demise. Cut to Link and Zelda on the Goddess statue now on the surface, Zelda says she wants to stay, Link, playing the harp, smiles like he does too, congrats you finished the game.
