Terry’s cowboy hat... s

So ever since Splat3 dropped, Terry is drawn alternating between two cowboy hats! For example:

Cowboy hat #1: the original

Cowboy hat #2: his new hat

He uses his new cowboy hat more now as shown in the second picture! But sometimes he still wears the old one. Especially during the first day of Splatfest!

The new cowboy hat is the first cowboy hat he bought for himself when he went to Splatsville, where his older sister lives!

This is because that old hat of his was a memento from his late father. After the events of hero mode of Splatoon 2, he thought that he didn’t want to risk it getting damaged, despite it being one of his sources of inner strength.

(This is part of a sketched comic I made years ago where he sang “Leader of the Band”.)

Back then, he was still too young to wear the cowboy hat, but he did cherish it and took it with him when he went to Inkopolis City. He also brought different mementos from his family members back at home, like his mother’s old Splattershot!

The reason he wears his old cowboy hat to Splatfests is something of a personal symbolic sentiment.

“Pa, here’s what Splatfests look like in Splatsville! Ain’t it just grand? And big sis Tierra is here too, with all the friends who feel like home away from home! You gotta join us with the celebrations!”
