I've come to the sad realization yuri can only REALLY be categorized like the following:

#1: yuri that is boring

unfortunately the usual case with 90% of yuri especially with new series

usually plays upon overused tropes making everything abt it lack any uniqueness to it

it is such an epidemic its forced himejoshis to become resigned to accepting these things into their hearts and even pretending its the shit when really its just shit 😭

its hard to give examples bc this makes up almost all yuri i can think of

#2: Non-Existent yuri

A series with really gay girls but they dont ever explicitly say theyre in love.

ex. dungeon meshi

Most himejoshis will on in the hill of saying they love subtext but we all know and especially themselves know that isnt true

#3: Yuri that is unserious as fuck

Theres a lot of drama yuri out there but it is always so fucking unserious it just ends up being funny as fuck instead

ex. Onii-Sama E and my girlfriend isnt here today

quite often this type is also associated with erotic media. But theyre so goddamn unserious it dosent matter how sexy either of them are, it immediately makes them so unsexy the minute they start talking.

i would only say ive succumbed to believe i love this genre bc i love to laugh at it sm

#4: Yuri where one or sometimes BOTH of them are dead 💀

i literally dont care i hate the "bury your gays" trope so much. it just aggravates the shit out of me bc what is even the point anymore then

personally i feel like the only yuri that can exist like this and is actually genuinely good is obviously PMMM (i will fight everyone on the planet over this IDC)

#5: side character yuri

sort of a popular trend. kind of goes hand in hand with non-existent yuri but personally i think they count as different entities sometimes

extremely minor plot points or concurrent small interactions between side characters thats kind of gay as shit

theyre either EXTREMELY GAY or just a little gay theres no inbetween (either way, people will lie one way or another to say its really good)

despite the fact this yuri is quite ephemeral or absolutely nothing some ppl will still call this media wholly yuri for whatever maniacal reason

#6: YURI THATS TOO FUCKING SHORT

Unfortunately the best type of yuri also happens to be too goddamn short (usually limited to oneshots, anthologies, manga series no more than 25 chapters)

All my favorite yuri happens to be like this and i always scream at god for making life like this

I FORGOT TO ANSWER THIS IM SORRY NIKI SOB. but yes yes i love talking abt how flawed nazuna's treatment of ra*bits was in the beginning thank u.bc its overlooked a loooot but it wasnt as toxic as his relationship in ex-valk since he barely even knew these kids when he left valk. ANYWAY. im sorry if this doesnt make sense i am insane and terrible with words but i hope u enjoy either way (also theres a lot of words. like fair warning its really massive so i understand if u dont read all of it 😭)

nazuna when he first began to help hajime, tomoya, and mitsuru had a shallow view of each of them. he sees hajime as the good girly kid, mitsuru has the bad rowdy kid, and tomoya as the normal kid. (he literally states this in a story i think its happy spring?) so lets start with what ra*bits was formed on as a whole: being cute. nazuna thought tht without shu or valkyrie his only saving grace was his looks, so he projected tht onto ra*bits when he first started to form the unit. he thought the only way he could "save" these kids was to exploit their cute looks since thts the only worth he saw in himself, it was the only worth he saw in them as idols. but to get more specific lets start with hajime. hajime is the epitome of a cute idol, girly, quiet, warm personality etc. hajime represents nazuna's insecurity abt his girlish appearance, and hajime at first, was insecure abt it as well, and was only keeping up this image to help ra*bits. but as time goes on, he slowly begins to enjoy being tht kind of idol, and embraces all his girlish traits to the full, finding strength and joy in it, which nazuna could never accomplish. moving onto mitsuru, hes basically the fun rowdy more boyish of the group. he isnt really afraid to act like himself and do whatever he wants, he loves to run and be loud, and he wears his emotions on his sleeve. but this gets him in trouble a lot, and he often gets scolded for things he simply enjoys doing or gets told hes a "bad kid." in the story "bad boys" this frustrates him, he believes the ppl he loves so much dont feel the same, and see him as a nuisance, even when he's one of the most emotionally sensitive characters in enstars, he just doesnt want to be alone again. but slowly through time, mitsuru learns tht this part of him is what makes him a wonderful idol. he also learns tht his feelings do matter, and he doesnt have to be a troubled kid all the time, bc he isnt, hes just mitsuru. this is probably a stretch, but i think this is supposed to represent nazuna's insecurity abt acting too "out of his image." or not being the good quiet doll he was so used to being for so long. and finally tomoya. tomoya is normal, hes not pretty like hajime, or bright as the sun like mitsuru. tomoya knows this, in fact its mentioned in almost every story he's in, either by himself or someone around him. this makes him feel inadequate to those around him, like he will never be able to catch up to everyone else, but especially his fellow unitmates. but, through time, he begins to realize "being normal" is like a super power for him as an idol. he utilizes it, being able to stay grounded and be completely balanced as his own idol. like his feature scout is titled he is "the epitome of idols." others can look to him for the example of what an idol is supposed to be. tomoya probably represents nazuna's biggest insecurity, his fear of being inferior in the eyes of others. its the whole reason he became shu's "doll" in the first place. shu let him stand above the rest, it gave him confidence. when shu broke down, this meant nazuna would become "nothing." just an ordinary person destroyed by the war and forgotten. so, thts why nazuna is so quick to categorize ra*bits into their basic traits, bc he's scared tht ra*bits will far apart. he feared tht if he didnt do this, if he attempted to break through the mold he fit ra*bits into, he would go back to before. he wouldnt matter unless he acted a certain way. he always wants to fit into roles tht r useful in some way (i think this is why he wanted ra*bits to see him as a big brother, as their guide, bc this made him extremely precious to them) bc tht way he doesnt have to acknowledge how insecure he really feels. as he gets attached to ra*bits though and begins to really see them like his kids, he's forced to learn tht these molds he fit all of them into didnt do them or him any good, it only managed to damage the kids so precious to him. and so through loving ra*bits, he learns to love the parts of himself he loathes the most.

HI im not into skybattle but im ~500 games into battlebox so heres some tips for that😁

- U WILL SUCK AT FIRST!!!!!!!! truly truly unless you are entering already cracked at1.8 AND 1.9 combat ur gonna suck absolute ass thats O.k!!!! it took me like 40 games to start getting ANY kills do not get discouraged my friend u will see it through this 🫂

- bbox combat plays like a hybrid 1.8/1.9 &it feels ODD at first but u will get used to it. u need to do 1.9 hit timing (DO NOT SPAM CLICK) & crits can be BIG but comboing a la 1.8 is also a strat,if hard(ive only seen a few ppl master it but theyre BEASTS) . theres no shields /axes so the pace is deffo more like 1.8, but offhanding is HUGE (esp potions/bows/crossbows) like its rlly a hybrid. U will get feel for it with time 💞

- strat is different on every map(color factory is more defensive/ more sniping from spawn, canal +trains reward being more offensive earlier) but in general for inexperienced players STICK W UR TEAM ! just partnering up & following 1 strong player can help out survivability &give U a faster idea of what strats work on what maps, which rlly is trial &error. lots of easy kills r on people who overextend, keep an eye out for flankers to targetEtc . climbing ladders puts u in a vulnerable spot so dont unless u.r sure nobodys there, do not hole urself into corners (incl to reload,) find a spot w/good visibility. Worst comes to worst if ur being chased by a fight you dont want run towards ur teammates &hope they help cover u/distract

- kits are diff on every map, crossbows are very desired (4.5 hearts /hit which is MAJOR) there are only 1 or 2 per map for a 4 player team (rest are normal bows),so if U decide2 learn crossbow heavy strats get ready to get good @ instalocking kits.TIP: the bottom crossbow kit on canal doesnt have a sword so if u get stick with it use ur pickaxe to melee its slow but its something😁 my personal strats are mostly crossbow w. potions secondary,but cobwebs can also be huge &regen is ALWAYS VALUABLE It rlly all does depend on playstyle w.the kits u opt for, learn what suits u❤️

- sometimes U will have teammates leave midgame /the server will fucking suck &just put u on a team with 3 players default which always SUCKS ASS &is super easy to get discouraged but morale is BIG, try to banter in chat /even just a “PURPLES GOT THIS <3” or w.e in chat can be rlly appreciated (incl.cheering on opposing 3p teams it is always sweet ^__^) U r very unlikely to win down a player but its srill a chance to play for kills/ experiment w.strats. if you are the one that leaves mid game you are going to hell.

-dont worry abt killsteals TRULYit just gets toxic if u do trust 😭 as for wool rushing its not even rlly possible since the latest update which locks the center first 10s but generally u DO NOT want to fill unless everyone on the other team is dead OR ur like the last one left +feel like u need to, otherwise placing early is just kinda seen as BM& a vibe killer 😕 if the round timer is running out u just need to make sure u have MORE wool placed thn the other team to count a win so placing 1 down if time is low can be enough, if neither team has any in by the end the round counts as a draw &that sux !

not comprehensive advice& probs not everything here is gonna work with u THATS OK !i am a good player but a fallable one so like watch what other ppl are doing, find ur own srats Etc.. new game so theres room for innovation 😁 truly main advice is that the grind is ur friend and also follow twitch.tv/c9sio for more tips. < Joke😇
