i know that each member represents a fruit  (watermelon for kaia,  apple for poppy,  strawberries for yvan)  but i don’t get the memo everyone’s crazy about…?

as we know the group’s concept revolves around the garden of eden,  portraying them as children of mother nature and their god’s messengers,  working to make their worlds even more harmonious:  much like the celestial realm where the angels reside,  as seen in their solo and group debut music videos. and what’s a garden of eden concept without a hint of potential sin?  😁  and these sins are subtly symbolized by their forbidden fruits bc they don’t do anything crazy worth punishing in their solos tbh in winter’s film,  yvan is seen treading carefully around the idea of strawberries,  almost as if walking on eggshells.  but near the final chorus,  they finally give in,  eating the fruit behind closed doors after a seashell seemed to coax them into doing it.  their reaction had a lot of layers bc while they appeared to enjoy the taste,  there’s also that sense of confusion and unease,  as if they’ve crossed a line they weren’t meant to.

in summer’s film,  the fruit doesn’t appear until the very last scene of the video,  where kaia is seen at an empty banquet table filled with dull,  unappealing looking fruits,  excluding the bright and appetizing watermelon,  of course!!  kaia takes a bold bite of it,  and although we don’t see her full reaction because the scene goes dark once she bites it,  it’s super clear from her demeanor that she was excited to taste something both new and inviting,  as if she had been waiting for this moment to happen. 

spring’s film takes a different tone on this.  poppy is seated at the same banquet table from kaia’s video,  but the setting is darker and there’s only an apple on her plate.  at first,  she just stares at it without moving,  but soon she gives in,  taking a bite with visible relief and joy.  what follows are scenes of her devouring apple after apple,  as though she’s been starved of this experience for so long that she can’t help but greedily indulge  😵‍💫

so yeah,  each fruit tells a story.  yvan’s strawberry reflects the guilt and allure of something forbidden yet intriguing.  kaia’s watermelon represents the thrill and happiness of reaching for the seemingly unattainable.  poppy’s apple symbolizes reclaiming something she was denied,  indulging in it without restraint after being held back for so long... and it’s not a coincidence that things started to change once they tasted their fruits…  that’s when they began questioning everything—  who they were,  what they were doing,  and why.  it was like they needed to taste their own identity to finally understand themselves,  symbolized by the fruits they were forbidden to eat!!!!  before that,  they were basically brainwashed into thinking their only purpose was to serve “father,”  even though there was always curiosity and doubt inside them.  kaia and poppy,  for example—  kaia was someone who wanted to reach out into the unknown,  while poppy seemed to know the taste of the apple already,  meaning she had tasted it in the past,  but was punished and forced into staying in the middle for falling into temptation.

    ➥    there’s also the fact that they were born through mother nature!!!  so it makes sense that their actual identities are hidden in their "mother's" fruits god forbade to eat because they wanted their messengers to stay loyal and dependent on them forever

    ➥   nothing has been confirmed but yea its most likely.  it also makes sense considering kaia seemed the most intrigued by poppy in her solo bc she sinned.  kaia wanted to know more and even subtly hinted to both yvan and poppy to sin with her (she talked to yvan through a seashell,  and she talked to poppy through her headphones),  so they could break out of the restrictions and see beyond what they were told.  sowwie to all those fans who keep screaming GAYYYY bc they assumed that kaia’s interest in the other two angels was romantic,  but there’s definitely more going on

    ➥   a kiss is the beginning of cannibalism  :)   they've kindaaaaaaaa have been hinting at cannibalism as a metaphor for intense love and intimacy in their songs aaaaaaand i think the reason of poppy always being at the crime scene is because she represents love so she quite literally embodies the meaning behind that symbolism

mmmm no one has fully explored the connection between the angels' fruits and cannibalism,  so i will try to explain using apples and pears hehe

“you are what you eat”:  their fruits symbolize the idea of consuming one's own identity or essence.  they may not have been born from a fruit plant,  but they are still part of mother nature hence them realizing #things when they consumed something that is actually part of themselves.  in a way u could say that the angels consuming their fruit could be seen as self-cannibalism in a figurative sense

cultural or mythological references: there are myths and cultures that involve fruits being linked to the life force or soul of individuals.  in the japanese culture,  the forbidden fruit in shinto and buddhist beliefs symbolizes spiritual awakening or merging with the divine.  in chinese’s mythology,  the peaches of immortality grant eternal life and are consumed to transcend mortality,  symbolizing sacred consumption and life force.  then there’s some korean art,  like kimsooja’s projects,  that seem to explore identity,  survival,  and how people "consume" culture and each other’s lives.  all of these hint at metaphorical cannibalism.

and i don’t think anyone’s mentioned this before but while the whole angels’ eating their fruit thing could be seen as a form of self-cannibalism,  they also ate red fruits,  and guess who used to represent red…?  :)
