#i hope this was what you were hoping for! and it's not weird and that maybe there's some good advice in there?

How does Sukuna react when babykuna gets her first “boyfriend” ? 🫢
middle school. a battlefield.
gone were the days of erasable mistakes and carefree recesses—no more doodling on homework with pencil, no more "do-over" passes when things went south. this was real life now. friendships weren’t just about who shared their snacks anymore; they were about who had the best gossip, who could do the cleanest cartwheel, and who had the best stationery. and worst of all, romance was no longer just something that happened to adults in movies.
naturally, babykuna was in high demand. many a snot-nosed, grass-stained boy had approached her at recess, fumbling over their words, hope shining in their little prepubescent eyes—only to be met with a resounding, utterly devastating “EWWWWWWWWWW!”
and just like that, another tiny heart shattered into pieces. truly, the school had never seen such a high population of grief-stricken, heartbroken little boys, sobbing into their sleeves, vowing never to love again.
and then came the fastest runner in class.
this kid had guts. confidence. swagger. he marched right up to babykuna, chest puffed out, chin high, and said, with all the bravado of a kid who could run a 4-minute mile in crocs—
"wanna be my grill-fren?"
and for reasons beyond mortal comprehension, babykuna…said yes. and who were the first beings in the house to know of this life-altering development?
not you. not sukuna. not her parents, no. absolutely not.
it was baby the orange tabby, who sat on her lap, idly flicking his tail, completely indifferent to this monumental moment.
and it was mr pickles, the ancient maine coon, who upon hearing the news, let out the deepest, most exhausted grunt known to catkind—his way of saying, “i have lived too long to deal with this bullshit.”
meanwhile, outside babykuna’s room, you and sukuna were both having heart palpitations. you leaned against the wall, gripping your chest. “did she just say ‘yes’?” sukuna, usually the picture of confidence, looked like he had just been stabbed. “she said yes.”
“to a relationship?”
“to a boy.”
your hand flew to your chest. “oh my god.” sukuna paced, running a hand through his hair. “this is not happening. this is a dream.”
“no, this is a nightmare.”
he suddenly gripped your shoulders. “what if—what if she holds hands?”
your soul left your body. “what if she lets him carry her backpack?”
sukuna reeled back like he’d been shot. “no daughter of mine is letting a little shit carry her backpack.”
you clutched your chest. “we’ve failed her.”
“we’ve failed ourselves.”
inside the room, babykuna, blissfully unaware of the absolute crisis happening outside, scratched behind baby’s ears. “mama and papa are acting real weird today.”
mr pickles, in all his aged wisdom, let out a long, suffering sigh.

🤍 summary: after a date gone bad, your best friend chris is there to make you feel better with his cock
this fic was inspired/requested by this ask that was sent in forever ago (and it was also inspired/requested by someone who asked for a plot where reader goes to chris for comfort after a bad date but I forgot to save their ask </3)

angel like u
꒰ა 𓂋 ໒꒱
You buried your face into Chris' chest, tears staining the front of his shirt, but he didn't mind at all. He didn't mind the tear stains, and he didn't mind that you'd interrupted him playing video games on stream. All that he cared about was that you were okay.
He cradled your head with one hand, and with the other, he tenderly rubbed your back. You hadn't even been able to explain to your best friend why you were so upset yet, and he still held you against his chest, smoothing down your hair.
"You don't have to talk about it if you don't want to," he said in a comforting voice. You pulled away, sniffled, and looked up at him with your big, misty eyes. "It's embarrassing, really," you started off, wiping away a tear with the sleeve of your sweater.
He listened quietly without judgment as you continued on. "I went on a first date with a guy, and I don't usually do this, but we were getting along really well. So I went back to his place, and things got a little heated," you started to tell him, searching for his reaction and hoping he didn't think differently of you.
"What happened?" Chris sharply asked, clenching his jaw and imagining the worst-case scenario. "It's not that it was bad or anything. It's just that he didn't make me.." you started to say, but you turned away, too flustered to finish your sentence.
"He didn't make you.. cum?" Chris speculated. "Exactly," you said, somewhat relieved that Chris had finished your sentence for you.
"He came, and then it was just over. He didn't even try to get me off after or even cuddle with me. I just put my clothes back on, he told me he didn't feel anything for me, and then he suggested that he take me home," you admitted, your lip quivering and your eyes welling with tears again.
"What an asshole," Chris muttered under his breath, wiping away your mascara-stained tears from your cheek with his thumb.
"I didn't want to cry in front of him, and I didn't want to be alone, so I asked him to take me here since it was only a few minutes away. I hope you don't mind that I just showed up unannounced on your doorstep, sobbing at midnight," you apologetically said.
"Of course I don't mind. You know I'm here for you whenever you need it," Chris comforted you. "Thank you, Chris," you replied, pulling him into another hug, tightly gripping the fabric of his shirt as if he'd float away if you let go.
"Boys like that don't deserve angels like you. How are you feeling right now, pretty girl?" Chris wondered, resting his head against yours.
"I know I agreed to it, but I just feel so used, you know? I feel stupid for giving it up on the first date. And listen, I know this is weird, but I still feel kind of.." your voice trailed off as you cracked an embarrassed smile.
"Turned on?" Chris guessed, finishing your thought again.
"Yeah, I mean, it was good up until he stopped. I was so close," you admitted, almost forgetting you were talking to your male best friend instead of your therapist. "Oh, god. I'm so sorry. You didn't need to know that," you buried your head in your hands after your confession.
Chris let out a small chuckle, caressing your back with his fingertips again. "You don't have to be embarrassed to tell me things like that. I don't want to make you uncomfortable or anything, but I could, you know, finish you off if you'd like," Chris offered, his tongue darting out and wetting his lips as his gaze fell to your mouth.
Your eyebrows flew up. "Y-you'd do that?" You asked, seriously considering his proposal. "Yeah. I hate seeing you cry," Chris whispered, wiping away another tear as it fell. "If I could go back in time and make sure the whole situation didn't happen to begin with, I would. Making you feel good is the least I can do."
He tilted your chin up to look at him, searching your face for permission to kiss you. "What do you say? You want me to make you cum?" He sweetly asked, his gaze lingering on yours. "Yes. Pleeease, Chris," you softly begged, the words surprising you as they tumbled from your mouth in such a desperate manner.
He smirked down at you before his eyes fluttered closed, and he leaned in, his lips gently meeting yours. It started off slow - a few soft pecks here and there and a gentle caress of his fingertips along your jawline, sending goosebumps across your warm skin.
Before you knew it, the two of you had been swept up in the moment. His lips passionately engulfed yours, and his velvet-like tongue gently brushed against yours, filling your mouth with the taste of a blue raspberry-flavored piece of candy he'd eaten shortly before.
You softly moaned into his mouth, the vibration tickling his lips and sending blood rushing below his waist. He reached up your shirt, gently pinching your sensitive nipples, feeling them harden under his touch. He pulled your top off over your head and admired the sight of you half-nude on his bed.
His hand wandered to the button of your jeans, and he slipped his long, slender fingers into your waistband. He gasped and pinched his eyebrows together when he felt how wet you were, his face only a few inches from yours as he explored your folds.
You relaxed against his body, a few breathy, textured moans spilling from your lips. "Let's get you out of these," Chris suggested, removing his hand from your waistband and motioning for you to lift your hips, so he could pull your jeans and your panties off of you and have better access to you.
Once you were completely naked, you leaned back on Chris' bed and slowly parted your legs, showing yourself off to him. "Look at that. She's so happy to see me," Chris seductively cooed, sliding his middle finger up and down your slit. You shuddered at the sensation and his words.
Your breath hitched in your throat as your best friend toyed with you, spreading open your labia and admiring how pretty and pink it was. He placed two digits at your entrance and watched them slowly disappear into your drooling hole.
"You weren't kidding. You are turned on," Chris observed, pumping his fingers and slightly curling them. You bit back a moan and grasped at the bedsheets beneath you. "Don't be shy. I wanna hear you," Chris responded with a smile on his face, indicating to you that he didn't care that his brothers were asleep upstairs.
You nodded and released your lower lip from between your teeth. As Chris picked up the pace, another sensual sound tore through you, but you didn't hold back this time. "That's it," Chris purred.
You peered down at the way he pistoned his fingers deep inside of you, your eyes traveling to the silver chain around his wrist and his prominent veins on his arms. With his blue eyes locked on yours, he lowered his head between your thighs and took your clit into his mouth.
You jumped and squealed at the feeling of his soft tongue exploring you, fluttering around on your needy pussy. He closed his lips down around your sensitive bundle of nerves and started gently suckling on it.
"Oh, Chris," his name fell from your lips as your tipped your hand back and started combing through his soft, brown hair with your hand. He worked tirelessly, his mouth and his fingers caressing your sensitive flesh, and he was determined to do so until you were finishing all over his tongue.
"Chris.." you whispered, his name falling from your lips again, but this time in a tone that indicated that you needed something from him. He peered up at you with his perfectly blue eyes and his drunk expression as he drank from your center. "Hmm?" He hummed against your clit, causing you to raise your hips and grind against his face.
"Your tongue feels heavenly, but I need more. Please," you requested. "More?" He asked, pulling away for a moment. You reached down and gently tugged on the collar of his shirt. "I need you to fuck me, Chris," the words tumbled out of you with fervor.
He was towering over you while you laid on your back, staring up at him like he was a god whose cock was going to bring you eternal salvation. He pulled his shirt off over his head, revealing his gorgeous body to you that had become more muscular in these recent months due to how often he'd been working out.
Your eyes danced over his chest, his stomach, and the prominent lines on his lower abdomen that directed your attention to his hard on that was struggling against the grey cotton of his sweatpants.
Before you had time to take in just how flawless he looked shirtless, he was hooking his thumbs in his waistband and tugging down his bottoms. His dick sprung out, and your gaze followed the way it gently bobbed.
"You ready, angel?" Chris asked, positioning himself between your legs. You stared down at his smooth, pink cockhead that was glistening with precum, and you nodded. Your jaw fell slack at the initial stretch as he pushed the tip into your weeping hole. Chris was much thicker than the man you'd been with earlier that night.
"So big.." you whimpered as he pushed it in a little deeper. A smug smirk tugged at the corner of his mouth. "I know, angel," he said in a breathy groan as you fluttered around him. He started to rock his hips back and forth, inserting more of his length with every thrust. You let out a relieved sigh as he found your gspot, and your eyes rolled around in your head.
Chris gazed down at you beneath him, arms outstretched and tightly gripping his soft sheets. You loved the way he looked hovering above you, his flushed cheeks, his desire-filled blue eyes, and his pouty, pink lips parted as the room filled with his moans.
You felt his hand brush against the inside of your thigh as he spread your legs open further. His thumb found your clit, and he started moving it in circles as he drove himself into you over and over again. You let your sounds of pleasure pour from your lips with reckless abandon as Chris skillfully brought you to the edge.
You felt that divine feeling brewing deep within your core as Chris drilled his cock into you at an increasingly harder and faster pace. He could feel you sucking him in, and the way your pussy was throbbing around him. "You wanna cum, don't you, pretty girl?" He purred, looking into your eyes. "Mhmm," you hummed back desperately.
"How many times?" He asked, smiling down at you. His question surprised you. The man you'd gone on the date with couldn't even make you orgasm once, and now Chris was offering multiple? You were nearly too fucked out to answer him, but you regained your composure long enough to tell him, "three."
"Three? Greedy girl," he teased you, still making circles on your clit with his fingers as he rammed his tip into your gspot. "Show me what you've got, angel," Chris whispered, jolting his hips into you in a rhythmic pattern that he loved the way you reacted to.
Before you knew it, he was driving you over the edge, and your muscles tightened around him before you started to shake violently. You practically screamed in pleasure as you came on his cock, clenching around him uncontrollably which made it hard for him to hold on until your second orgasm, never mind your third. You felt the tension leave your body.
You'd been waiting all night for this feeling, and as you were sinking into the pleasure rippling throughout your system, you felt a second wave coming on. The pressure built so quickly this time, but the release was just as incredible as the first, resulting in you curling your toes and tearing at the sheets beneath you.
Chris was holding on for dear life, trying to get you to your third climax before he let himself cum, and with every powerful thrust into your drooling cunt, the harder it became for him to control his orgasm. He was begging to finish inside of you.
However, he maintained his stamina, pistoning into you at the perfect speed and pressure to get you what you asked for without giving in just yet. You trembled as you came onto his length a third time, leaving a thick ring of white at the base of his shaft.
Once you were completely spent, he snapped his hips forward and held them still, a guttural moan passing through his lips while he pumped you full of his heavenly substance. You could feel him release his load into you, his cock pulsating in your hole and leaving you with an incredible post-orgasmic state. He slowly pulled himself out of you, admiring the beautiful mess he'd left behind.
"How was that, angel? How do you feel?" Chris asked, checking in with you and cradling your face in his palm as he ran his thumb across your cheek. You smiled in sheer bliss, your chest still rising and falling as you caught your breath.
"That was divine. Your cock is like heaven," you whispered into his ear. "Well, angels like you are who heaven was made for," he whispered back.

"You finally decided to show up at a race. I was starting to think you only liked having me naked in your bed behind your brother’s back."
You smiled at the screen, playing with your fingers as you thought how could you answer Lando. Your relationship was based purely on sex, moreover sexting, with barely any real conversations whenever you met, moans and orgasms speaking for you both instead.
You had never felt the need to go beyond that, to involve feelings in your relationship, or at least that’s what you had made clear to Lando before sleeping with him the very first time. You also let him know that, besides him, there were other guys with whom you had no commitments whatsoever.
However, it was with Lando that you spent most of your time. The others were nothing more than a safe escape, an easy way out when the Brit wasn’t around.
"Be grateful that I even came," you finally replied. "And don’t flatter yourself. I came to see my brother, not to make you come before a race."
You hesitated, wondering if your reply was harsh enough to keep him from getting any ideas and, more importantly, to stop him from insisting on meeting up. You weren’t sure how, but you wanted to end that strange relationship before it spiraled out of control because, whether you wanted to admit it or not, you had started to feel something for him.
Yes, just a few weeks ago, you had one of your usual encounters with a friend of one of your best friends. But everything fell apart when, right before reaching your climax, you couldn’t help it: you moaned Lando’s name instead.
That was what made you question what exactly you felt for Norris and why the label of friends with benefits seemed to be fading away.
"Don’t play dumb, Piastri. See you at the motorhome. You know exactly where."
You huffed. Of course, you knew exactly where you’d be meeting. After all, ever since your brother became a Formula 1 driver, you had visited his teammate’s personal room more than Oscar’s.
With a sigh, making sure neither your mother nor your sisters were nearby, you got up, grabbed the plastic cup that still had a bit of coffee left, and walked with as much determination as you could muster toward McLaren’s motorhome, finishing your drink along the way.
As you walked, mentally preparing a script in case things got tense with Lando, you greeted the people you knew, or at least those who knew you as Y/N Piastri. Lewis was genuinely happy to see you and even stopped to chat, but you excused yourself, saying you had already made plans. Fernando gave you a knowing look, as if trying to figure out what exactly you were about to do with a certain driver.
Even your brother crossed paths with you at the entrance to McLaren’s motorhome. You managed to lie to him, partially, saying Lando had asked you to take a few pictures of him before the race.
Oscar gave you a strange look, then rolled his eyes, offered a small smile and told you to enjoy whatever it was you both were about to do.
You said nothing, but you knew your twin brother well enough to realize he already had a pretty good idea of what you were up to with Norris. Not that you tried too hard to hide it.
When you reached Lando’s room, you didn’t even have to knock. The door opened instantly, revealing a slightly tired-looking Lando with a cup in his hand. His race suit was already on but zipped only to his waist, leaving the top half hanging loose. His team cap was still on, though it didn’t last long since he took it off and tossed it aside within seconds.
He grinned from ear to ear, like he had been waiting for you with far too much anticipation.
"Come in. Make yourself at home," he said with that mischievous tone you were so used to hearing, though something about it felt slightly different this time.
You walked inside without hesitation, crossing your arms and ignoring him, except for the occasional sideways glance to see if he would do or say something before you did. Unfortunately, he didn’t.
"If you wanted a quick fuck before the race you could’ve just said so, you know?"
"I don’t think today’s the best day to fuck you and let everyone hear," he replied. "At least, not yet. Today, we’re going to talk."
"We don’t talk, Lando," you shot back, feeling an internal alarm go off. "And when we do, it’s just to ask about the safe word of the day, what we want to do to each other, and how close we are to coming."
"Well, maybe it’s time we started talking, don’t you think so?"
His answer took you completely by surprise. Your gazes remained locked on each other, and you felt the atmosphere grow tense.
For the first time in a long while, there was no excuse you could use to avoid that conversation with Lando. Maybe the fact that you had been ignoring him for the past few weeks was enough to make him realize that there was a chance—however small—that things had changed between you two.
You took a deep breath, trying to calm the growing sense of unease settling in your chest. Lando kept looking at you with that same intensity he always did, except this time… it was different. It wasn’t the first time you found yourselves in a situation like this, where there were a thousand unsaid things hanging between you, waiting to be voiced. But it was the first time, at least on your part, where feelings were involved beyond pure physical desire.
"I don’t think there’s anything to talk about," you said as nonchalantly as possible, but your tense posture betrayed you.
Lando set his cup down on the table beside him. Then, he sat on the edge, crossing his arms again, and reached for your hands only for you to pull away and take a step back.
"I think you know exactly what we need to talk about," he replied calmly. His voice was lower than usual, and you felt the heat grow between your legs. You shook your head, feeling guilty and doing your best to push away that sudden, but familiar, awakening in your body.
"You’ve been avoiding me, Y/N. And don’t tell me you haven’t, because you were in Monaco and never called me to meet up… to see each other," he added, his voice laced with something unreadable. "In fact, we usually sext almost every day, and you didn’t even bother to tell me what  new lingerie set you bought for when you came over."
"I didn’t tell you I was coming to Miami either."
Your reply, rather than making you sound indifferent, exposed you completely. Lando raised an eyebrow, as if he had caught you red-handed. That was when you realized you had seriously screwed up.
"I haven’t been avoiding you, Lando. I’ve just been busy," you insisted.
"Busy? You mean busy by ignoring me?" He scoffed, ironic. His expression turned much more serious now, and you started to worry about where this might lead. "Tell me the truth, Y/N. What’s going on? What’s happening with you?" he emphasized.
You averted your gaze, pretending to take interest in the room’s decoration, a room you already knew by heart. You knew you couldn’t keep dodging the topic, but you also had no idea how to confront it without changing everything you had so far. It was impossible to put into words what you felt for Lando, not when your relationship had always been purely physical. And especially not when there was a real chance you were just confused… and, well, you couldn’t forget the possibility that he might only see you as his hookup.
"Nothing’s wrong," you finally responded.
"I thought we were always honest with each other," Lando sighed, running a frustrated hand through his hair.
You felt your throat tighten. It was hard to breathe. You had been honest, at least when it came to the unrestricted desire between you, to touching each other without attachments, to seeking comfort in one another without questions that went beyond your wildest fantasies. You had avoided anything personal.
But now, you were slowly breaking the unspoken rules that had kept you in perfect balance until this moment.
"I’ve been busy, Lando, and the last thing I wanted was to deal with you, alright?" you insisted, trying to sound as convincing as possible. "Things should have stayed the way they were until, according to you, I started ignoring you."
"No, Y/N, things aren’t like that," the Brit denied, shaking his head. He stepped closer, cornering you against the wall. "If you don’t want to face something because you’re afraid of rejection, just tell me. But, for fuck’s sake, don’t act like I did something wrong, because you’re killing me."
"Lando…"
"Stop insisting that nothing is happening between us, when that’s exactly what makes me think the opposite."
His confession caught you completely off guard. His words—clear, direct, and without a hint of sarcasm, threw you off… especially because you knew he was right.
You felt the urge to run, to disappear, to pretend none of this had ever happened. Most of all, you wanted to deny yourself any romantic thought you had ever had about Oscar’s teammate.
When you lowered your gaze, Lando moved back slightly, giving you space and making sure he didn’t overwhelm you more than you already seemed to be. You sighed, trying to relax once again, but before you could say anything, he spoke first.
"Tell me nothing’s wrong between us, Y/N Piastri," he said softly. "If nothing has really changed, if everything is the same between us… dare to look at  me in the eyes and say it."
Your chest tightened. You couldn’t run away, not when Lando had you emotionally cornered, teetering on the edge of an explosion. Your breathing was unsteady, heavy. Your mind screamed at you to find an excuse, anything that would let you stay true to yourself regardless of what happened next.
Lando waited, unmoving, his blue eyes locked onto yours with an intensity that made you tremble for the first time in your life—without him even touching you. It was the first time he had shown himself to you like this: so vulnerable and yet so determined at the same time.
"Nothing is wrong between us, Lando Norris," you finally whispered, forcing the words out, ignoring both your heart and the boy standing in front of you.
"Say it again, but this time, look me in the eyes."
He didn’t move an inch. He knew you were lying; your posture gave you away—the way you avoided his gaze, the way your fingers toyed with the hem of your shirt and your accreditation pass…
You squeezed your eyes shut tightly. You had no choice… at least, not entirely.
Lifting your gaze, you met his blue eyes once again. Your lips parted slightly, ready to try and let out a lie convincing enough for both him and yourself.
But it was impossible. You couldn’t keep doing this, not when, deep down, and no matter how hard you tried to deny it, you felt something more than just pleasure for Lando Norris. The fear of rejection… it terrified you. The thought of him turning you away, of losing what you had with him, was unbearable.
"Lando…"
"You don’t have to say it if you’re not ready," he interrupted. "But please… stop pushing me away. Stop making this to us."
"It’s just…"
Nothing. No matter how much you tried to explain yourself, to find a logical enough reason for your sudden ghosting, you couldn’t.
"It’s just what, Y/N?" the Brit pressed. "Are you afraid to take a risk? To admit something because you’re scared of what might happen next? Because you don’t want to change the life you’ve had until now? Because you want to…?"
Lando forced himself to stop. He ran his hands through his hair, exasperated, turning his back to you. Guilt hit you immediately, your body trembling as the storm inside you began to break free. The driver rubbed his face, frustration radiating from him. This was exhausting him. You were exhausting him, to the point where he was starting to doubt his own feelings. Feelings that had started to grow the moment he realized it hurt when you ignored him, when you didn’t even send him a simple "Hey."
"I wish this were different, Y/N," he finally murmured, his voice thick with emotion as he turned to face you again. "I wish you didn’t make me feel like this. I wish I could just be content with what we had before and pretend none of this was happening…"
Your stomach twisted painfully. That was exactly what you had been thinking, the very reason you had pulled away from him and from whatever this was. You had ignored the fact that your feelings for Lando Norris had become something much stronger—maybe they had been there for far longer than you were willing to admit.
"Lando, listen" You tried to step closer, but he pulled away.
"No, Y/N, no," he said bitterly. "I tried convincing myself there was a reason you were ignoring me, acting like I was nothing to you, and then it hit me that I really want you as more than just someone to fuck."
"That…" you struggled to say, stepping toward him. This time, Lando didn’t stop you. The sincerity in your eyes, the way you looked both calm and nervous at the same time, made him realize he had to trust his instincts. And that was exactly what they were telling him.
"That’s what I wanted to tell you," you admitted, your voice barely above a whisper, but Lando still heard you. "That’s why I kept you on standby for two weeks… I knew this would change everything, that you’d react badly, that we’d end up fighting, and I… I didn’t know how to face the possibility of you rejecting… this."
Lando stared at you in surprise before a sad smile crept onto his lips.
"Y/N… I’ve always been good at reading signals, but this has been driving me fucking crazy."
"And you think it’s not been making me feel the same?" you shot back, feeling a weight lift off your shoulders.
Lando stepped closer, taking your hands in his. You didn’t resist, feeling how the both of you tensed at the contact. His lips inched toward yours, and when they finally met, the kiss was so fierce, so full of passion, that you ended up straddling him on the couch, moving against him, desperate to feel him. Even though you both knew there was still a race in two hours.
"I don’t want to touch you like this, Y/N," Norris whispered against your ear as you left small bites along his neck. "Y/N, stop it babe…"
"I don’t wanna be just another ex-love to you, Lando…" you murmured between kisses, still searching for friction between your bodies.
"And I don’t wanna miss you like your other lovers do, babe…"
This time, Lando gripped your waist firmly, flipping you onto the couch beneath him. His eyes never left yours as he carefully lifted your shirt and started massaging your breasts over your bra.
"I wanna be your end game, Y/N," Lando breathed, unable to tear his gaze away from you.
Your breath came out in shallow pants, and you felt like you were teetering on the edge. Your hands gripped the unfastened gear around his waist, tugging lightly to keep him close.
"Then prove it."
"I have a race in two hours, love…" he murmured, his voice rough as he pressed his forehead to yours, his arousal growing.
"Then you better be quick," you teased, running your hands over his abs beneath the fireproof. "Especially if you don’t want Osc to hear us…"
"You’re gonna be the death of me one day, Y/N Piastri," Lando groaned as he trailed his fingers up your thighs, lowering himself before you. "Now, open your legs for me... You deserve a punishment after being such a bad, bad girl these past few days…"

Whoops turns out I have Further Thoughts on this.
So, here's the thing. We could argue a lot about whether or not characters in horror films make stupid decisions and how it depends on the individual film and what have you all day long. And I'm sure we could come up with a few examples on either side of the argument.
But I think there's a broader point here which is that when people say "what if there was a horror movie that featured a convenient and straightforward way for the characters to get out of trouble without making any sacrifices along the way, so they did that and were fine, the end", and especially when they present this as some kind of refreshing new take on the genre...
Well, aside from the fact that this would make for a very boring and disappointing story for anyone who actually wanted to watch a horror film, it has the same energy as those people who are presented with moral dilemmas as a thought exercise and get fixated on "what if there was a way to stop the trolley and save all six people" "what if you could replace the Omelas kid with a robot" and so on. It's a copout, and it really does come off more like they're balking at the idea that suffering is sometimes unavoidable, that sometimes there are no easy answers and any decision you make comes at a cost.
It reminds me of this other post that was going round a decade or so ago, where the title was something like "horror movies for our generation" and the gist of the whole thing was essentially "if millennials were in a horror movie scenario we'd be able to fix everything and save ourselves straight away because we're so smart and progressive and have the best resources!" (Which to add a bit of extra context was clearly pushing back against a lot of the "millennials are stupid children who don't know how to do anything" think piece discourse that was floating around at the time) and a lot of people in the notes (possibly even including me, at the time) going "omg I need this!! I'd watch the shit out of this!!" which, when you think about it, is really weird when you acknowledge that the scenarios being described were essentially just "what if something that claimed to be a horror story actually just had no plot."
The idea of a horror story where the characters make sensible, realistic, understandable decisions is potentially a great premise (and again, there are plenty of existing horror stories that already meet that criteria.) Crucially, though, that can't be enough to get them out of trouble, at least not instantaneously.
If you could avoid getting lost in the scary woods just by using your trusty functioning gps tracker, there would be no story. So in an actual horror story, the gps wouldn't work, or it would be hijacked by some sinister entity and end up landing the characters right back where they started, or lead them further into danger. The characters happen to have the exact right combination of personalities and skillsets to instantly defeat the monster and go home? Well, first of all that's just dumb luck, and second of all that can't work right away either. There would be a different monster that they can't defeat so easily, or they simply don't have enough information or opportunity for most of the story to be able to actually use their collective skills against it. You managed to evade the killer and get out of the creepy log cabin unharmed? Congratulations. Your best friend is still in there, though, and they might be injured. Are you comfortable leaving them behind and hoping they can fend for themself while you get away? What if it's your child? Sometimes the "stupid" decision is the one you wouldn't be able to live with yourself if you didn't make.
I'm going to give the "cozy romance" person props because at least they're honest about the fact that they don't actually want a horror story, and at least the story they're proposing would actually have a plot, just not a horror one. I can see where their thought process was going; there is something cool about the idea of a secret secondary plot going on in the background that the protagonist managed to narrowly avoid, that we can put the pieces together about if we pay close enough attention. (It's not the best example, there are undoubtedly better ones, but it reminds me a bit of Shaun of the Dead where we get these hints that there's a doppelgänger squad running around in the background, and it seems like just a one-off joke until one of them shows up at the end with the military in tow.)
But the thing about that example and a lot of the other ones is that there's eventually a payoff. Ultimately it does affect the protagonists in some way, even if it's sometimes a subtle way. And there's something sort of weird, and just a little jarring, about the idea of reading a story where you're sort of vaguely aware that horrible things are happening to some poor bastard in the background, and your only takeaway from that is supposed to be "oh well, sucks to be them. Let's continue to enjoy watching these Sensible people kiss! Yay!" Apart from maybe being a cool sort of easter egg, what exactly is the point of this subplot, besides imparting the profoundly unsatisfying message of "you can easily avoid danger and have a wonderful life if you're just smart and sensible enough!" when that's so often and so tragically untrue in real life.
And that's why I feel like this would be a much better premise if the horror eventually caught up with the protagonist. Because sorry folks, but escaping the genre unscathed is too easy and too unsatisfying. It has to at least be a challenge, or there's no story worth reading.
You can't just replace the Omelas kid with a robot.
people are so mean about horror movie victims like. sorry but if i had gone to a cabin in the woods with my friends as a teenager you couldn't have stopped us from reading aloud from the evil tome. how were they supposed to know the ancient curse was real they're like 17

3rd Person POV - Friday
The morning light filtered softly through the hotel curtains, casting a warm glow over the room. Azzi blinked a few times to adjust her eyes to the bright rays filing in, slowly waking her up to the quiet stillness of the room. Her gaze naturally drifted to Paige, who was still fast asleep beside her, the steadiness of her breathing reflecting her deep slumber.
Azzi watched her for a moment, taking in the sight of her in a way she hadn’t been able to before. The blanket had shifted considerably, low on Paige’s waist, and she was lying on her stomach, her hair a little messy on the pillow. Azzi’s gaze softened as she noticed how naturally beautiful Paige was, the little details that made her feel more real, more alive. The sunlight caught in Paige’s hair, highlighting certain strands that framed her face, even in her sleep.
Her eyes traced the sharpness of Paige's jaw, the arch of her nose, the curve of her lips that were relaxed in slumber. As Azzi looked at her she noticed that there was a scar, small and barely visible, near Paige's hairline. Azzi’s finger itched to trace it, to figure out the story associated with it, but she stayed still, careful not to disturb her. The quiet intimacy of the moment was too precious to ruin with a thoughtless action like that.
Her gaze moved lower, her eyes looking at the scar on Paige’s torso—the one from last night. It was more visible when Paige was facing her, but now, with her turned on her stomach, Azzi could only make out a small portion of it, curving along her side and reaching toward her back just slightly.
In the stillness, Azzi felt the weight of the moment, the growing sense of curiosity she had about Paige. She realized, then, just how little she truly knew about her—the person she had shared what felt like many lingering moments with in the past few days. Still, there were so many layers left to explore, so much left to understand.
It wasn’t lost on Azzi how much she wanted to know, how much she yearned to unravel the mysteries that Paige held beneath the surface. It felt like the beginning of something important, something bigger than just a random night in a hotel room. For now, though Azzi was content to just be here, beside her, breathing in the quietness of the morning as she gathered her thoughts.
Azzi lay there for a moment longer, watching Paige as she slept, it was all so peaceful. It felt weird, she could’ve stayed in that moment forever, but after a while, Azzi shifted slightly, careful not to disturb Paige. She slowly reached over the edge of the bed to grab her phone from her pocket, making sure not to make too much noise.
She unlocked it and couldn’t help but chuckle when she saw a text from Caroline pop up first: You still alive? Hope it was good.” Azzi typed a reply, “Yes, I’m alive and please relax.” A few more notifications popped up and Azzi spent a few minutes responding, her fingers moving across the screen.
The next time she glanced over at Paige, she noticed the subtle shift in her posture. Paige’s eyelids fluttered a little, and the quiet signs of waking up were starting to show. Azzi couldn’t help but smile to herself, lowering her phone as Paige slowly began to blink her eyes open.
Paige squinted slightly, clearly still adjusting to the morning light that filtered in through the window. Her eyes, that seemed to be a deeper blue with the way the sun was hitting them, met Azzi’s, a soft glimmer of awareness and curiosity in them. There was something so serene about the way Paige looked at her, a sense of familiarity already settling in, even though they had only known each other for such a short time.
Paige stretched a little, still blinking as she finally spoke in a raspy morning voice, “Morning.” She looked at Azzi for a beat longer, still processing the shift from sleep to reality.
Azzi couldn’t help but grin, the corners of her mouth moving upward as she replied, “Morning. You look like you just got out of a coma.”
Paige’s lips twitched, her eyes still half-lidded as she fought a smile. “Yeah? You don’t look so bad yourself.”
Azzi laughed softly, the moment between them feeling more natural than anything they had shared before. The tension that had once seemed so thick between them now seemed to have lifted, replaced with something lighter.
Paige’s gaze flickered to Azzi’s phone, still in her hand. “Telling your friends how good I was already?”
Azzi raised an eyebrow. “Sure something like that,” she replied playfully. She lowered the phone and moved it to the side before she turned back to Paige. “So, how’d you sleep?”
Paige stretched once more, the slight stretch of her body revealing more of the scar near her side that Azzi had seen the night before.
"Like a rock," Paige said, her voice still a little horse. "You?" she asked, turning to Azzi who had the sheet covering her chest.
Azzi chuckled. "Yeah, better than I’ve slept in a while."
Paige kept her gaze fixed on Azzi, still lying there with her head on the pillow. "So, what now?"
Azzi smiled a little, the corners of her lips curling up. "I was hoping you'd know."
Paige returned the smile, raising an eyebrow. "Me? I thought you were the one with all the answers."
Azzi shrugged, not answering right away. Instead, she glanced at the clock on the nightstand. "What time is your flight?"
"6:15," Paige replied.
Azzi hummed quietly, not saying anything else for a moment as she just looked straight ahead. Paige, still looking at her, propped her head up with her hand, studying Azzi’s profile as her eyes danced over Azzi’s face.
Azzi shifted slightly, meeting Paige’s gaze again. "Stop looking at me like that."
Paige grinned. "Like what?"
Azzi let out a soft sigh. "Like you just had sex with me last night."
Paige laughed softly, the sound completely unguarded. "I did have sex with you last night."
Azzi smirked, shaking her head completely at a loss for words. The atmosphere between them felt so easy.
Randomly Azzi says, “Tell me something about you.”
Paige chuckled as she sat up, her shoulder brushing against Azzi’s. “What do you want to know?” she asked, her amusement with the question clear.
Azzi shrugged, her brown eyes warm but curious. “Anything.”
Paige thought for a moment, tilting her head slightly before offering, “Um…Well I’m 22.”
Azzi immediately cut in, unimpressed. “That’s boring, and I already know that.”
Paige laughed. “You didn’t even let me finish.”
Azzi smirked, motioning for her to continue. “Alright, go on.”
Paige licked her lips, thinking for another second before continuing, “I’m 22. My birthday is October 20th. Um… I like purple.” She trailed off, her mind suddenly blank on what else to add.
Azzi gave her an exaggerated look before deadpanning, “Wow. I feel like I’ve known you for years.”
Paige scoffed, shoving Azzi’s arm playfully. “Shut up.”
Azzi grinned, shaking her head. “I’m serious, that was definitely life-changing information.”
Before Paige could respond her phone ringing cut off her thought process, making both Paige and Azzi glance toward the desk where it was sitting. Paige sighed before pushing herself up, stretching her arms over her head as she walked over in just her boxers and sports bra. Azzi’s eyes lingered for a moment, biting her lip slightly as she took in the way the light outlined the toned muscles of her back.
Paige glanced at the caller ID before answering. “Hello.”
Azzi stayed in bed, half-listening as she tried to piece together the conversation once she heard Geno’s voice. She could hear his voice through the speaker, though not clearly enough to make out every word. Something about wanting Paige to come by campus for a bit before her flight since she didn’t have much time to officially meet the team and hangout with them yesterday. Paige hummed in response here and there, glancing over her shoulder with a smirk when she noticed Azzi watching her.
Paige hung up a few moments later, still smiling as she turned back toward the bed. Before she could explain, Azzi’s phone started ringing. She frowned when she saw Geno’s name on the screen, glancing at Paige, who shrugged before disappearing into the bathroom.
Azzi exhaled and answered. “Hey, Coach.”
“Paige is coming to campus in about 20 minutes. I’m sending her your number so she can call you when she gets there. Make sure she feels comfortable,” Geno instructed, his voice casual yet expectant.
Azzi bit back a smile even though he couldn’t see her. “Yeah, I got it. Don’t worry.”
Geno seemed satisfied with that and ended the call. Azzi sighed, tossing her phone on the bed before standing up and stretching. While looking for her shirt her eyes landed on Paige’s black oversized shirt from yesterday, thrown over the chair. Without thinking much of it, she grabbed it and slipped it on. It was small, but she caught a faint trace of Paige’s scent on the fabric and it felt strangely intimate. As if they hadn’t just woken up in the same bed.
She walked toward the bathroom, leaning against the doorway as she watched Paige brush her teeth.
Paige caught Azzi’s reflection in the mirror, her gaze flickering down to the black shirt draped over Azzi’s frame before meeting her eyes again. A smirk tugged at the corner of her lips as she mumbled through the toothpaste, “Looks good on you.”
Azzi rolled her eyes, shifting her weight against the doorframe. “Please don’t start.”
Paige chuckled, spitting into the sink before rinsing her mouth. She turned around, leaning back on the counter as she reached for the towel. “I’m just saying.”
Azzi scoffed, but there was a slight tug at her lips, betraying what she was about to say. “Don’t get used to it.”
Paige just smirked, tilting her head slightly as she looked at Azzi like she knew something she wasn’t saying. Azzi held her gaze for a moment before shaking her head, pushing off the doorframe. “Hurry up,” she said, turning back toward the bed. “I’m not gonna be the reason you’re late.”
Paige watched her go, her smirk still lingering as she wiped her face.
Paige walked out of the bathroom and settled for throwing on a hoodie and a pair of sweats. Turning back toward the bed, she grabbed an extra pair of sweatpants and some boxers and tossed them to Azzi.
Azzi caught them easily saying. “Thank you,” as she slipped them on.
Once they were both ready and Azzi grabbed all of her clothes, they stepped out of Paige’s room.
When they got outside there was a slight breeze as they made their way to Caroline’s car. Azzi unlocked it and slid into the driver’s seat while Paige got in the passenger seat, a lingering smile still tugging at her lips.
Azzi caught the look and sighed, shaking her head as she started the car. “You’re still smirking.”
Paige shrugged. “I didn’t say anything.”
Azzi gave her a pointed look before exhaling a small laugh. “You don’t have to, it's litrally all over your face.”
Paige chuckled but didn’t say anything else, letting the conversation fade into a comfortable silence, the soft hum of the car filling the space between them as they drove toward campus.
When they arrived, Azzi pulled into Caroline’s usual parking spot and turned off the engine. They stepped out, making their way up the stairs to Azzi’s suite.
The second Azzi pushed open the door, she was met with Caroline and Ice lounging on the couch. Both of them took one look at her, eyes dropping to the clothes in her hand before flicking to the shirt and sweats she was wearing. Matching smirks immediately spread across both of their faces.
Azzi paused for half a second before exhaling through her nose, already regretting the situation.
Paige followed, moving into view just enough to lift a hand in a wordless acknowledgment. Ice and Caroline’s eyebrows lifted slightly, clearly not expecting to see her here, both of them thankful they kept their mouths shut for a second.
Azzi kept her expression neutral as she said, “Geno wants us all to hang out with her today before she leaves.”
They both nodded, but the smirks never left their faces. Azzi didn’t entertain it, instead glancing at Paige for a second. She immediately noticed the shift—how Paige’s energy had seemed to dim. Her entire demeanor was more reserved now, quieter, a stark contrast to how she’d been that morning in the hotel of just moments ago in the car.
Azzi frowned slightly before saying, “You can just come with me until the rest of them get here.”
Paige met her eyes briefly before nodding, following Azzi deeper into the suite and into her room.
When they got to Azzi’s room, she shut the door behind her while Paige settled into the chair in front of her desk. Azzi moved to her closet, tossing her clothes inside before straightening up and turning back toward Paige.
Paige was looking around, taking in the space with quiet curiosity. Azzi leaned against the closet door, watching her for a moment before asking, “Is it what you expected?”
Paige glanced at her and nodded. “Surprisingly, yeah.”
Azzi chuckled, grabbing her phone and sending a message to the group chat, telling them all to come to her suite courtesy of Geno. Almost instantly, the message started getting likes, but she didn’t linger on it. Placing her phone down, she looked back at Paige.
“I’ll be right back. I’m gonna go brush my teeth and make myself presentable,” Azzi said.
Paige gave a small nod, and with that, Azzi slipped out of the room, making sure she shut the door behind her.
Left alone, Paige let out a soft exhale, her gaze drifting across the room until it landed on a corkboard hanging on the wall. It was filled with pictures—Azzi’s life in high school and college. Paige leaned forward slightly, eyes tracing over the pictures, and before she realized it, a small smile had formed on her lips.
When Azzi returned from the bathroom, her hair was pulled up into a messy bun, a few loose strands framing her face. She shut the door behind her again and moved to lean against the desk, standing just a few inches from where Paige was sitting, her leg brushing against Paige’s knee.
Paige glanced up at her, eyes flicking to her hair before smirking slightly. “Cute.”
Azzi raised an eyebrow. “Me or the bun?”
Paige shrugged. “Both.”
Azzi rolled her eyes but couldn’t hide the way her lips twitched. “You’re lucky you’re charming.”
Paige leaned back in the chair, spreading her legs a bit more. “I know.”
Azzi gave her a look, smiling at her. “Oh, you’re back now, huh?”
Paige tilted her head. “Back?”
Azzi motioned toward the door with her chin. “You got a little stoic out there.”
Paige exhaled through her nose, shaking her head. “Just wasn’t in the mood to be the center of attention first thing in the morning to strangers.”
Azzi studied her for a moment before nudging her knee with her own. “Well, it’s just us now.”
Paige grinned up at her. “Yeah?” Paige licked her lips as she looked up at Azzi, “So what you wanna do about it?”
Azzi shook her head, biting her lip slightly to stop a smile. “I should’ve left you in the hotel.”
Paige chuckled, tilting her head back against the chair as she looked up at Azzi. “Too late now.”
“Unfortunately.”
Paige kept her eyes on Azzi, her gaze unwavering. It made Azzi shift slightly, the intensity of it throwing her off.
“Stop,” Azzi muttered
Paige raised an eyebrow. "Stop what?"
"You’ve had that look on your face since you woke up."
Paige just hummed in response, the smirk never leaving her lips as she continued looking up at Azzi.
Azzi narrowed her eyes. “Can you at least tell me what you’re thinking?”
Paige slouched further against the chair, her legs spread slightly, and lazily shook her head. “No.”
Azzi didn’t respond immediately, just studied her, trying to decipher whatever was running through her mind. Paige, still lounging effortlessly, absentmindedly started playing with the hem of her shirt that Azzi was wearing.
Azzi glanced down at her hand before raising an eyebrow. Without hesitation, she swatted Paige’s hand away.
Paige scoffed at the action.
From down the hall, the sound of voices grew louder, the unmistakable clamor of the team filling the suite.
“I think the team’s here,” Azzi murmured, straightening up from the desk as she glanced toward the door.
Paige didn’t respond. Instead she took a moment before she stood up, immediately in Azzi’s space—close enough that Azzi could feel the warmth radiating off her. They both noticed the closeness but neither of them moved, locked in a quiet stare.
Azzi looked Paige up and down with a small smirk playing on her face. “You know if you want to–”
KK’s voice rang out through the suite and interrupted whatever Azzi was about to say, “Azzi, stop hogging the recruit!”
Azzi chuckled, while Paige simply exhaled through her nose. Without a word, she stepped back, casually shoving her hands into her pockets before following Azzi out of the room.
As they stepped out of Azzi’s room, the noise in the suite became more apparent. The team was already gathered, everyone lounging in comfortable clothes—sweats, sweatshirts, sneakers—looking relaxed. No one made any formal introductions again, but the moment Paige stepped into the living room, the attention shifted to her. They all greeted her, some with friendly smiles and others with more playful words trying to immediately make her feel comfortable, but the ease of the atmosphere didn’t seem to reach Paige fully as she sat down on the couch and Azzi walked to the other side of the room.
As soon as Paige sat down KK took a seat next to her, KK’s natural energy radiating off of her as she looked at Paige. “So,” KK said, trying to strike up a conversation, “What makes you not boring like everybody else? Gimme something good.”
Paige glanced over at her, her lips curling up in a small, reserved smile. “Um, I don’t know,” she said, shrugging slightly. “I play basketball. That’s pretty much it.”
KK groaned but pressed on. “Okay, but what do you like to do when you’re not playing? There has to be something interesting about you.”
Paige didn’t answer right away, her gaze flicking to the others in the room as if searching for something to latch onto. Finally, she let out a breath and gave a half-smile, her eyes momentarily flicking back to Azzi who was standing by the counter. “I don’t have much time for hobbies these days honestly. Mostly just rehab and working out, been doing a lot of visits and when I’m not doing any of those I watch my team practice. Homework I don’t know.”
Aubrey nodded, chiming into the conversation. “That’s fair,” she said. “But I mean, everyone has something outside basketball, right? You like any movies or music? Come on, give us something. You sound like a robot dawg.”
Paige’s jaw tightened slightly, and she leaned back a little more on the couch, her posture still casual but distant. “I mean yeah I like music. R&B, mostly, a little of everything though” she replied, her voice steady but a little guarded.
The conversation kept going, but it was clear that Paige wasn’t opening up much. She was here physically, but emotionally she was closed off. There was confidence in her responses—no hesitation, no awkwardness—but not much more. She didn’t offer much beyond what was necessary to keep the conversation moving or to answer direct questions they asked her.
Azzi caught the shift in Paige’s demeanor the moment she looked over and saw Paige staring off into space, her finger absentmindedly spinning the ring on her hand. It was subtle, but Azzi noticed. Azzi pushed off the counter, excusing herself from the conversation with Ashlynn and Jana, and made her way over to where Paige was sitting on the couch.
She lowered herself into the seat next to her, close enough that their legs brushed together.
“Whatcha thinkin about?”
Paige blinked, breaking out of her thoughts, and her eyes slowly shifted over to Azzi. A faint smile appeared on her face. She shook her head. “Nothing much.”
Azzi didn’t buy it. “I don’t believe you,” she said simply.
Paige chuckled, a small and unconvincing sound, before her gaze shifted back to the group as the noise around them seemed to fill the air.
Azzi raised an eyebrow. “Are you uncomfortable?”
Paige quickly shook her head. “Not uncomfortable, just… not much to say really.”
Azzi muttered under her breath, almost too quietly to hear, but Paige caught it. “You sure had a lot to say last night.”
Paige chuckled at this, tilting her head slightly as she met Azzi’s gaze. “I don’t think you wanna get into that with me right now,” she murmured.
Azzi held her gaze, her lips twitching, but before either of them could push further, a voice cut through the moment.
“Yo, Paige!” Aubrey called from across the room.
Paige let the stare linger for a second longer before finally tearing her eyes away, turning toward Aubrey. “Yeah?”
“How tall are you?” Aubrey asked, her expression unreadable.
Paige blinked, thrown off by the random question. “Six foot.”
Aubrey nodded. “You can shoot?”
Paige huffed a small laugh, still confused but playing along. “Yeah.”
Without another word, Aubrey simply nodded again and went right back to her conversation, as if she hadn’t just stopped the room to ask.
Paige frowned slightly, looking over at Azzi, who just shrugged.
Paige’s time with the team went like this for about another hour—mostly talking to Azzi, though every now and then, someone would chime in with a random question that Paige would answer. It wasn’t that she didn’t know how to talk to people. She just didn’t do well with new people, with people she didn’t know. Simply because she didn’t like small talk much. It was one of her pet peeves that had formed some time ago when her step mom would force her to talk through the pain in her ribs with pointless questions and comments.
After a few hours of chilling with the team it was time for Paige to head back to her hotel so she could go to the airport. She stretched slightly as she stood up, glancing at Azzi, who was already watching her.
“You heading out?” Azzi asked.
Paige nodded. “Yeah.”
“I’ll walk you out.”
Paige didn’t argue, just slipped her hands into her pockets as she followed Azzi toward the door bidding goodbye to everyone before they walked out.
The two of them stood outside waiting for Paige’s uber not saying much. Paige rocked back on her heels, hands in her pockets, glancing at Azzi, who was leaning against the railing, arms crossed.
Azzi glanced at Paige. “So.”
Paige smiled softly, tilting her head. “So.”
Azzi exhaled, watching her carefully. “When are you making your decision?”
“I have to visit a few more schools first,” she admitted. “But soon.”
Azzi hummed at this, nodding slightly. Before either of them could say anything else, the Uber pulled up. Paige stood there for a second, looking at Azzi, searching for something in her expression. Then, a small smile tugged at her lips.
“How do you wanna play this?” Paige asked, her voice quieter now.
Azzi shrugged, her face unreadable.
Paige smiled at that before stepping forward, pulling Azzi into a hug. It was brief but firm, lingering just long enough before they pulled away.
Azzi met her eyes. “Don’t be a stranger.”
Paige smirked. “You have my number Azzi.”
Azzi raised an eyebrow. “Are you actually going to text back?”
Paige shrugged. “Guess we’ll have to see.”
Azzi scoffed, shaking her head. “You aren’t as mysterious anymore. So your little ominous comments don’t work.”
Paige laughed at that, reaching for the car door. “I’ll text you.”
Azzi crossed her arms, a small smile playing on her lips. “I’ll text back.”
Paige met her gaze one last time, her expression softer now. “I’ll see you soon, Azzi.”
With that, she slid into the Uber, shutting the door behind her. Azzi stood there, watching as the car pulled away, her arms still crossed, her smile lingering, before she walked back upstairs.
After that day, Paige and Azzi kept in touch—not constantly, but enough. Their conversations were never rushed, never forced. A text here and there, one of them sending something random. Azzi sending a meme, Paige sending a highlight clip, both of them sending song recommendations that neither of them ever admitted to actually listening to.
Their texts always stretched over days. It would start off as a constant back and forth, but then one of them would respond hours later, sometimes even the next day, but neither ever seemed to mind. Azzi would send something sarcastic, Paige would respond with something equally dry, and it would spiral into playful messages until one of them finally let it die out—only for another conversation to start days later in the same effortless way.
What surprised Azzi the most during this time was that Paige always answered her FaceTime calls. She’d roll her eyes and act inconvenienced, but she never ignored them. “I told you I don’t like FaceTime,” she’d say when she picked up, usually lying in bed or at a random gym. Azzi would just smirk, tilting her head. “Then why do you always answer?”
Paige never had a real answer for that. She’d just shake her head, fighting a small smile before changing the subject.
Through these scattered conversations, Azzi learned more about Paige. She found out that Paige was at a small Division II school in Minnesota, though she rarely talked about it unless Azzi pried, mumbling about how Azzi asked way too many questions. Azzi learned that Paige hadn’t played her freshman year because of the accident, and after tearing her ACL this past year, she still had two years of eligibility left. Though she planned to use just one—coaches seemed to think that was all she needed to prove that she could still perform on the big stage.
Azzi also learned little things. Like how Paige always listened to music when she couldn’t sleep, nothing too loud, just playing softly in the background so she could listen to the lyrics instead of all the random thoughts swirling in her head. She learned how Paige had a habit of spinning the ring on her finger when she was thinking or when she got a little nervous or uncomfortable. How she spaced off in the middle of conversations and came back to earth like nothing happened. How she only drank coffee if she was desperate, otherwise she stuck to water or the occasional shirley temple.
It was a slow process, getting to know her. Paige didn’t just offer things up freely, but Azzi didn’t mind the wait. The more Paige revealed, the more Azzi realized that, beneath all that confidence and “mystery,” she was someone who chose her words carefully. Someone who didn’t say things unless she meant them.
Paige learned about Azzi just as Azzi had learned about her.
It was almost effortless—Azzi carried most of their conversations, filling in the silences that Paige left behind. That was the first thing Paige realized: Azzi wasn’t necessarily talkative, but with her, she was. Because she knew Paige wouldn’t speak much unless she was eased into it first. If they were ever on FaceTime around Azzi’s team they were the one’s talking and yelling while Azzi usually just sat there offering a small comment here and there.
Paige learned that, despite being one of the healthiest people she had ever met, Azzi had an undeniable sweet tooth—so much so that if she could, she’d probably marry a sweet treat. Paige learned that Azzi loved to read, losing herself in books when she needed a break from the world. She learned that Azzi loved talking about the books she was reading when she was done, even when Paige had no idea what she was talking about most of the time.
She learned about Stewie, Azzi’s dog, and how just talking about him could make Azzi light up. Paige learned about the little things—the things that made Azzi smile, the things that made her laugh, the things that made her feel at home when she was away at school and missed her family.
And now, about a month or so later, they were about to see each other again.
Azzi hadn’t expected to see Paige. As far as she knew, Paige was still making her rounds, visiting schools, weighing her options. They had texted earlier in the day like usual—short, easy messages that stretched over time—but Paige hadn’t mentioned anything about being at the game.
The arena was loud, packed with energy as UConn went through their usual warmups. The rhythm of bouncing basketballs, sneakers squeaking against the hardwood, and the music blaring through the speakers filled the space. Azzi was locked in, focused on her silent routine, until a glance toward USC’s bench made her freeze for half a second and do a double take.
Paige was there. Sitting just behind their bench, in nearly the same spot she had been when she watched UConn play before.
Azzi’s eyebrows lifted slightly, her grip tightening around the ball in her hands as she tried to process the sight. Paige, of all people, at the USC game—against UConn, no less.
Paige, of course, had seen Azzi notice her. And, because she was Paige, she smirked, leaning back slightly in her seat when she caught Azzi’s eyes.
Azzi blinked, exhaling a short breath as she shook her head, trying to fight the smile tugging at her lips. This girl.
From the moment the ball tipped off Azzi spent the entire game battling against USC’s defense, which had clearly done its homework on the shooting guard. Every time she tried to move off the ball, two defenders shadowed her. Every screen she ran around, they fought through, or two people jumped at her. UConn’s offense, usually fluid and dynamic with the ball in her hands, felt a little stagnant without her usual rhythm.
Paige could see it—the way Azzi’s frustration built with every contested shot, every missed opportunity. She wasn’t playing badly by any means, but she wasn’t playing as freely as she usually did. From where Paige was sitting, she could see ways Azzi could create more space for herself. Small adjustments, little shifts in movement that could’ve made a difference. But all she could do was sit there and watch it unfold behind USC’s bench.
The game was tight all the way through, every possession feeling heavier as the clock wound down. But in the final minutes, USC managed to stay just a step ahead.
When the buzzer finally sounded, the scoreboard read 83-79 in USC’s favor.
The home crowd erupted in celebration while UConn’s players sighed, some shaking their heads, others already replaying the game in their minds. Azzi, standing near the baseline, exhaled sharply, hands on her hips as she looked up at the scoreboard.
From her seat behind USC’s bench, Paige simply watched it all unfold.
A few minutes after the game, once the immediate post-game chaos settled, Paige and Azzi finally made their way toward each other. Paige had stepped away from the crowd, having a few moments to herself while USC went to have their post-game talk. Azzi, fresh off the handshake line, was still coming down from the intensity of the game.
"You didn’t tell me you were coming," Azzi said as soon as they were close enough. The fans near them yelling to get Azzi’s attention.
Paige let out a soft laugh. "You always lead with something I don’t expect. Never a hello."
Azzi shook her head, a small smile tugging at her lips. "I don’t have a lot of time," she admitted, glancing over her shoulder toward the tunnel, where her teammates were heading in. "But I wanted to see where you were staying."
"The Marriott, a few minutes from here," Paige answered easily.
Azzi hummed at this. "Hm. Us too."
Paige chuckled, tilting her head slightly. "Guess I’ll see you later, then."
Azzi was about to respond, but out of the corner of her eye, she saw the final straggler from her team disappear into the tunnel. She knew she couldn’t afford to linger any longer, especially after a loss. Exhaling softly, she glanced back at Paige.
"I’ll text you," Azzi said instead.
Paige gave her a small nod. Azzi held her gaze for just a second longer before turning and walking toward the locker room.
Later that night, Paige was lying in bed, scrolling aimlessly through her phone, when a soft knock echoed through her hotel room. She blinked at the door before pushing herself up, already knowing who it was but still peeking through the peephole out of habit.
A smirk tugged at her lips as she swung the door open, revealing Azzi standing on the other side in an oversized hoodie and pajama shorts. Paige’s gaze dropped to the shorts, taking in the tiny red hearts printed across them.
“Nice hearts,” Paige teased.
Azzi rolled her eyes, but a small smile played on her lips as she reached out and shoved Paige’s shoulder—though Paige barely moved.
Without another word, Azzi stepped inside, her expression expectant as she looked at Paige. Paige furrowed her brows slightly before realization dawned on her features. Without hesitation, she reached out, wrapping Azzi in a long, lingering hug.
Azzi let out a quiet sigh as Paige wrapped her arms around her, melting into the hug like it was exactly what she needed. Paige held her close, resting her chin on Azzi’s shoulder, feeling the tension still lingering in her body from the game.
"Long day?" Paige murmured.
Azzi huffed a soft laugh. "You could say that."
Paige smiled, pulling back just enough to look at her. "So, what? You came all the way up here just for a hug?"
Azzi raised an eyebrow. "Would that be weird?"
Paige shrugged. "Nah. I get it. I’m me."
Azzi rolled her eyes but didn’t deny it. Instead, she wandered further into the room, glancing around before flopping down onto Paige’s bed like she’d done it a hundred times before. Paige smirked at this.
"You make yourself at home real quick, huh?"
Azzi glanced up at her. "Well, you did say you’d see me later."
Paige huffed a quiet laugh, shaking her head before pushing off the wall and making her way toward the bed. She sat at the edge, glancing over at Azzi, who was already sprawled out against the pillows, arms tucked behind her head, looking completely at ease.
Azzi turned her head slightly, her gaze settling on Paige. “How’d I play?”
Paige shrugged before shifting to lay beside her, mirroring her position. “Pretty good.”
Azzi arched her brow. “Not great?”
Paige shook her head. “No, not great.”
Azzi sighed, tilting her head back against the pillows as she mumbled “I hate basketball sometimes.”
Paige turned her head slightly, studying her before adding, “Their defense was basically ‘anyone but Azzi Fudd’ so don’t think about it too much.”
Azzi let out a quiet groan, staring up at the ceiling. "Tell me about it," she muttered. "Felt like they had three people trailing me at all times."
Paige turned her head slightly, glancing at her. "They did," she confirmed. "But you were still getting good looks. You just weren't creating enough space."
Azzi gave her a side-eye. "Oh, so now you're my coach?"
Paige laughed. "I'm just saying, I saw a few ways you could’ve gotten open."
Azzi rolled onto her side, propping her head up with her hand. "Yeah? Like what?"
Paige mirrored her, facing Azzi. "Couple times, you could’ve used your off-ball movement better. They were biting hard on screens—if you slipped off quicker, you would've had more separation. I don’t know if you had anyone to make the pass but still. And when you did get the ball, you hesitated just a little too long. You let them recover."
Azzi stared at her for a moment, her competitive nature flaring just slightly. "You really sat there analyzing me the whole game, huh?"
Paige smirked. "What else was I supposed to do? Watch USC?"
Azzi scoffed. "Yeah, actually."
Paige chuckled, nudging Azzi’s arm with her elbow. "Seriously though, you played well. USC just had a good scouting report."
Azzi sighed, rolling onto her back again. "Yeah. Sucks, though."
"Would've helped if you had a more consistent shooter."
Azzi turned her head toward Paige, raising an eyebrow. "Ashlynn can shoot."
Paige shrugged. "She can, But if she doesn’t make her first few shots, she’s nonexistent the rest of the game."
Azzi hummed at this but didn’t argue, staring up at the ceiling in thought. After a while she tilted her head to look at Paige who was just staring at the ceiling now. Azzi propped her head up on her hand again as she said, “Enough about me. How was your visit?”
Paige shrugged, not offering anything more.
Azzi gave her a pointed look. "How many times do I have to tell you? Shrugging isn’t a proper form of communicating."
Paige chuckled, finally breaking her silence. "It was alright, I guess."
Azzi narrowed her eyes. "Wow. Raving review. So... USC’s out of the running?"
Paige nodded. "Yeah."
Azzi hummed, studying her. "That was quick."
Paige smiled slightly. "I know what I want."
Azzi tilted her head. "And USC wasn’t it?"
Paige shook her head. "Not even close."
Azzi’s lips curled slightly, but she didn’t press further. Instead, she just traced Paige’s arm with her fingers. "Guess that means you’re running out of options, huh?"
Paige glanced down at her arm where Azzi was touching before saying. "Guess so."
Azzi shifted slightly, resting her cheek against her palm as she eyed Paige. “How many do you have left?”
Paige knew what she was asking—how many visits, how many schools still in consideration. She exhaled softly. “Two.”
Azzi nodded, her fingers idly playing with the string of her hoodie. “Are you actually considering them?”
Paige turned her head, meeting Azzi’s gaze for a brief moment before answering. “Not really…I have to go, though.”
Azzi raised an eyebrow. “Why?”
Paige laughed. “Because they’ll report all the other schools to the NCAA if I don’t.”
Azzi let out a laugh, shaking her head. “You really have schools breaking rules for these ‘unofficial’ visits?”
Paige just chuckled, shrugging like it wasn’t a big deal. “Guess I’m a hot commodity.”
Azzi laughed at this and the room settled into a quiet stillness, the only sound the faint hum of the hotel’s air conditioning. Paige’s eyes flickered over Azzi’s face, taking in the way the dim light softened her features, the way her lips parted slightly like she had something to say but was hesitating. Azzi, normally composed, seemed almost hesitant now, her fingers playing with the string of her hoodie as she held Paige’s gaze.
Finally, Azzi exhaled. “Can I kiss you?”
Paige smiled a little at the question and gave a small nod.
With the confirmation, Azzi closed the distance between them, her fingers brushing gently against Paige’s jaw before tilting her chin up and capturing her lips in a slow kiss. Paige exhaled steadily against Azzi, her hands finding their place on Azzi’s hips.
Not long after the kiss started Azzi tilted her head, deepening it, and Paige followed her lead, nipping at Azzi’s bottom lip just enough to make her sigh.
The sound sent a warmth through Paige’s chest, and before she could process it, Azzi shifted forward instinctively, settling more comfortably in Paige’s lap, her knees pressing into the mattress on either side of Paige’s waist.
Paige’s hands slid upward, fingertips grazing the skin just beneath Azzi’s hoodie, tracing patterns. After some time, Azzi pulled back slightly, her lips parting as she exhaled.
“We can’t,” she murmured, her voice breathy but firm.
Paige, still beneath her, let out a low chuckle, her thumbs rubbing soothing circles against Azzi’s waist. “I know.”
Azzi blinked, slightly thrown off by Paige’s lack of protest. “You know?”
Paige nodded, her blue eyes flickering with amusement as she tilted her head back against the pillows. “Yeah. You spent all day yesterday texting me about how bad your cramps were,” she reminded her. “And how none of this actually makes sense because men are the ones with Adam’s apples.”
Azzi huffed out a small laugh, shaking her head as she sat back a little, still straddling Paige. “Hm. I sure did say that.”
Paige hummed in acknowledgment, her fingers still lazily circling Azzi’s waist, her touch lingering. She was looking at Azzi in the way she seemed to do a lot lately—like she had her completely figured out.
Azzi shifted slightly, her gaze flickering between Paige’s eyes as she noticed the way Paige was just… staring at her. Not in a way that made her uncomfortable, but in a way that made her feel like Paige was seeing right through her—like she was memorizing her, like she was thinking about something she wouldn’t say out loud.
Azzi’s voice was quiet when she finally asked, “What do you think about when you look at me?”
Paige’s fingers were still circling lazily against Azzi’s waist, her touch warm. She blinked at the question, lips parting slightly before she simply answered, “Too much.”
Azzi hummed at this, tilting her head slightly. “Why?”
Paige sighed, her expression shifting into something a little more distant. She took a moment, as if deciding whether she wanted to answer, before finally saying, “Don’t wanna make the wrong decision.”
Azzi didn’t respond right away, but her silence and the look she was giving her encouraged Paige to continue.
Paige inhaled deeply before saying, “Life has a way of being unpredictable and a little cynical, regardless of your intentions. So I think about everything I’m doing way too much, hoping I can control the outcome… even though chances are I can’t.”
Azzi studied her, processing the weight behind Paige’s words. Without thinking, her fingers moved to the ring on Paige’s finger, gently spinning it the way she had seen Paige do. She hesitated before asking, “Is it because of the accident?”
Paige didn’t answer right away, but the way her jaw tightened—how her fingers briefly stilled against Azzi’s waist—was answer enough. After a second, she gave a small nod.
Azzi kept her touch light as she continued to toy with the ring, her voice even softer when she said, “You don’t talk about it much.”
Paige let out a quiet breath, eyes flickering away for a moment. “Not much to say.”
Azzi shook her head slightly. “I think there’s a lot to say. You just don’t want to.”
Paige chuckled under her breath, but there was no humor in it. “You make that sound like a bad thing.”
“It’s not bad,” Azzi murmured. “Just… something I’ve picked up on.”
Paige exhaled, staring past Azzi for a moment, her thoughts somewhere else. Then, with a small shake of her head, she finally admitted, “It’s just… easier. Not thinking about it, not talking about it.”
Azzi watched Paige carefully, noting the way her fingers twitched slightly against her waist. She let the silence settle between them for a moment before asking, “Have you ever talked to anyone about it?”
Paige’s lips pressed together briefly before she shook her head. “No.”
Azzi’s brows furrowed slightly. “Why not?”
Paige exhaled through her nose, then looked up at her with a soft smile. “You ask a lot of questions, pretty girl.”
Azzi huffed a soft laugh. “And you usually answer them, gorgeous.”
Paige let out a breath, her smile fading into something more thoughtful. She glanced away before finally saying, “No point. Every time I try, I just end up thinking about all the different decisions I could’ve made. Doesn’t do me any good.”
Azzi didn’t respond right away, just watching Paige as she absentmindedly traced circles against her skin. There was something raw in Paige’s admission, something unspoken lingering between them.
“You know there’s nothing you could’ve done. You can’t control the world Paige.”
Paige nodded, but she didn’t speak, her eyes fixed somewhere past Azzi’s shoulder. Azzi could tell she wasn’t fully convinced—just because she knew it didn’t mean it was easy to accept.
“I know,” Paige finally said, her voice quiet. “But there’s just a lot from that day that could’ve changed things.”
Azzi tilted her head slightly. “Like what?”
Paige hesitated. Azzi saw the way her lips parted like she was about to say something before she stopped herself, debating.
But then Paige’s gaze shifted, fully looking at her—the way Azzi was straddling her hips, the way she was still idly playing with the ring on her finger, the way her brown eyes were searching but so patient and warm.
Suddenly, Paige just started talking. “You know my little brother, Drew?”
Azzi nodded.
Paige stared past her for a second before continuing. “That day, he was bugging me all afternoon to go get ice cream. I mean, non-stop—every few minutes for some reason. But I was tired from the games that week, and I had a workout later that day, so I didn’t really want to leave the house before I had to. But I promised him we would go… just not right then.”
Azzi stayed silent, just listening as Paige’s voice took on a more distant quality.
Paige chuckled dryly. “When it was time for my workout, I couldn’t drive because I didn’t put gas in my car the night before, so we all went together—me, my dad, my stepmom, and Drew. Ironically we had never even done that before, that was the first time everyone was coming to one of my workouts. We left a little earlier than we needed to, and when Drew noticed he asked if we could stop for ice cream.” Paige let out a small, humorless huff, eyes still unfocused as she spoke. “My dad looked at me in the rearview mirror and said it was my workout so it was up to me. And I always hated saying no to Drew and I had said no so many times that day already, so I said of course.”
Azzi saw the moment Paige started slipping away, her expression flattening, her words turning mechanical, like she wasn’t even processing them as they left her mouth.
“So instead of going straight, we turned right,” Paige said, her voice distant, like she was narrating someone else’s life. “A few blocks later, one light before we were going to turn into the coldstone, there was this Pepsi truck. I guess he was coming off the highway too fast or something. He couldn’t brake in time, so he ran the light while we were in the intersection.”
She swallowed hard.
“The truck hit the side of the car my stepmom and I were on…They say your brain is supposed to block out things like that. Make it easier. But I remember everything. I just—” Her voice faded, like the words had dried up in her throat. Her eyes were glossy, unfocused, trapped in a memory she couldn’t shake. She blinked once, slowly, then murmured, “And yeah. That was that.”
Paige let out a shaky breath before continuing, her voice rough.
“And I hated the world for so long. Sometimes I still do honestly,” she admitted, a bitter edge creeping into her tone. “Because I—I did everything right. I prayed every night, I gave back, I was generous, selfless, I worked hard, I did everything they say you’re supposed to, and that still happened. But then I remember I can’t hate the world. Because we’re all still here and healthy. I still get to play the game I love. I’m still so blessed. So I can’t even give myself the grace to be upset about everything.”
Silence settled between them as Paige just stared into space.
Azzi glanced down at Paige’s hands, noticing how cold they had become. She squeezed them softly, rubbing her thumbs over the backs of Paige’s knuckles, trying to get the blood flowing again.
“Paige,” Azzi said gently, her voice barely above a whisper. She squeezed her hands again, firmer this time, tilting Paige's head slightly to meet her eyes. “Hey.”
Azzi watched as Paige slowly came back to herself, the distant haze in her eyes clearing as she blinked a few times. Her gaze refocused, landing on Azzi like she had just remembered she was there.
“Hm?” Paige murmured.
Azzi softened her hold on Paige’s hands, giving her the space to pull away if she wanted to—but she didn’t let go completely. She just held on. “What do you need?” Azzi asked gently.
Paige exhaled, her fingers flexing slightly in Azzi’s grasp. “I’m good,” she said, but there was no real conviction behind it.
Azzi didn’t argue, didn’t push. She just said, soft but firm, “Paige.”
Paige licked her lips, taking a slow breath. “Tell me something about you.”
Azzi studied her for a moment, then nodded, shifting slightly where she sat. She thought for a second before a small smile tugged at her lips.
“Okay,” she said, tilting her head. “During CoVid, my brothers and I got so bored one day that we decided to go out on the patio and I gave them haircuts.”
Paige’s brows lifted slightly, intrigued.
Azzi grinned. “And not just any regular haircuts. I was cutting shapes into their heads. Like, just completely ruining them. I had no idea what I was doing, but they let me do it anyway.”
Paige huffed a small laugh, and Azzi could see the lightness in her eyes start to return.
“I drew a basketball in one of their heads, even added my jersey number,” Azzi continued, laughing at the memory. “It was awful. Just—bad all around. But we were dying the whole time. Even my parents came out to watch.”
Paige chuckled, the sound quiet but genuine. “They actually let you do that?”
“Oh yeah,” Azzi nodded. “We were locked in the house for months; we needed entertainment. I think they regretted it as soon as they saw their reflections, but at that point, it was too late.”
Paige shook her head, smiling softly. “That’s ridiculous.”
Azzi shrugged. “Definitely. But I think it’s one of my favorite memories. Just us being stupid and not caring about anything else.”
Paige looked at her for a long moment, then exhaled. “Sounds nice.”
Azzi gave her hands another squeeze. “It was.”
They stayed like that for a few beats, the weight in the room a little lighter now. Azzi watched Paige carefully, making sure she was really back, that she wasn’t slipping away again.
“You good?” Azzi asked quietly.
Paige nodded, her fingers brushing against Azzi’s where they were still intertwined. “Yeah,” she murmured.
Azzi studied her for a moment before speaking softly. “Thank you for telling me that.”
Paige didn’t say anything at first—just nodded again. Then, with a gentle tug on Azzi’s hoodie, she pulled her down, closing the space between them. Their lips met in a kiss that felt different from all the others—not rushed or hesitant. It was just them, existing in this moment, wrapped up in each other.
Azzi sighed into the kiss, her hands moving instinctively to cup Paige’s face, her thumbs brushing over her cheeks. Paige’s fingers curled around the fabric of Azzi’s hoodie, holding her close, like she needed this—like she needed her.
The kiss continued to slowly deepen, neither of them in a rush to pull away. It was a quiet kind of intimacy, one that didn’t need words.
Then—
A knock at the door.
Azzi broke the kiss, her head moving toward the sound as her breath came a little uneven. Paige groaned, her head dropping against the pillow.
Azzi exhaled a quiet laugh, still slightly dazed as she glanced down at Paige. “You expecting someone?”
Paige shook her head. “No.” She tapped Azzi’s leg, silently telling her to get up. With a small sigh, Azzi slid off Paige’s lap, settling back against the pillows as Paige stood and walked toward the door.
Azzi couldn’t see who it was from where she sat—the way the hotel room was laid out blocked her view—but she heard the confusion in Paige’s voice when she opened the door.
“Wassup?”
A second voice answered, a little sheepish. “I think I left my charger here earlier. And I know you’re leaving tomorrow, so I didn’t wanna be SOL.”
Paige chuckled. “Hold on, I’ll grab it.”
She stepped back into the room, her eyes scanning for a moment before she spotted a charger near the couch. Grabbing it, she walked back toward the door.
“Thanks,” the voice said.
“No problem,” Paige replied easily before shutting the door behind her.
Azzi raised an eyebrow, her lips twitching slightly. “I didn’t realize your hotel room doubled as lost and found.”
Paige laughed as she sat back on the bed. “Ha ha, very funny.”
Azzi tilted her head. “Who was that?”
“Just one of the girls from the USC team,” Paige said casually.
Azzi’s eyebrows furrowed slightly at this, and Paige immediately caught on, shaking her head. “It’s not what you think.”
“I didn’t even say anything.”
Paige scoffed. “It was all over your face.” She shifted, propping herself up on her elbow as she continued, “A couple of them came over yesterday before the game and just chilled here with me because my flight’s early tomorrow.”
Azzi hummed at this, but Paige could tell her mind was still working.
“What?” Paige prompted, watching as Azzi hesitated for a moment before finally asking, “Have you slept with anyone since me?”
There wasn’t a single beat of hesitation before Paige answered, “No.”
Azzi didn’t say anything for a moment, her gaze lingering on Paige. Paige studied her in return, waiting, until the silence stretched a little too long.
Finally, Paige spoke again. “There’s no one else, Azzi.”
Azzi looked at her, eyebrows furrowing slightly as if processing the weight of the words. Then, softly, she responded, “I know. I’m just processing why the thought crossed my mind.”
Paige chuckled, leaning back on the bed with a casual smile. “I already told you why…You were way too interested for it to be just one night.”
Azzi rolled her eyes, but there was a softness in her expression now. “You’re full of yourself,” she muttered. “I miss when you didn’t speak unless spoken to.”
Paige raised an eyebrow, leaning back against the bed with a smug smile. “Really?” she teased.
Azzi sighed dramatically, shaking her head. “No,” she said, her voice softening. “I don’t miss it, but it was... easier.”
Paige chuckled. “I’ll remember this when you’re begging me to say more than two words on FaceTime.”
Azzi smirked. “I’ll give you at least three. You probably say ‘I don’t know’ more than anyone I’ve ever met.”
Paige’s lips twitched as she crossed her arms over her chest. “You say ‘I don’t know’ just as much as I do. Don’t act like I’m the only one with the habit.”
Azzi raised an eyebrow. “I do not.”
Paige grinned. “You literally said ‘I don’t know’ like five times today before noon.”
Azzi rolled her eyes again, though it was clear she was trying not to laugh. “Okay, maybe once or twice,” she conceded, but then pointed at Paige, “But that’s because you’re always asking me impossible questions.”
Paige laughed fully. “Impossible questions? I ask things like, ‘How’s your day?’”
Azzi raised her hand in mock surrender. “Fine, I’m outnumbered.”
Paige smiled, her eyes warm with affection. “Yeah, you are.”
Azzi's phone rang from the nightstand next to the bed, interrupting their playful exchange. She glanced at the screen, letting it ring a few times.
“You gonna get that?” Paige asked with a smirk.
Azzi rolled her eyes but picked up her phone. “I was about to, if you give me a second.”
As Azzi answered, Caroline’s voice instantly filled the room, loud and clear. “Stop having sex with the recruit and come back to the room. CD’s having room checks soon.”
Azzi let out a laugh. “If I was having sex, I wouldn’t have answered the phone, babe.”
Caroline’s voice came back with a sigh. “Whatever. You’ve got like fifteen minutes.”
Azzi sighed, glancing at Paige as she responded, “Okay, bye,” before hanging up. She tossed the phone onto the nightstand, her expression now amused as she met Paige’s gaze.
Paige’s eyebrows were shot up in disbelief. “Sex with the recruit?”
Azzi gave her a pointed look, rolling her eyes. “Shut up.”
Paige stood up, slipping on her Ugg Tasman slippers. “Come on, let’s get you back,” she said, glancing over at Azzi.
“You don’t need to walk me to my room.”
Paige shrugged casually, her usual nonchalance apparent. “I don’t mind.”
Azzi pushed herself off the bed, and as she reached for her phone, Paige grabbed her phone and keycard. The two of them walked out of the room, moving silently down the hall.
The walk to the elevator wasn’t awkward—just quiet. Azzi was lost in her thoughts, her mind drifting to places she hadn’t quite sorted through yet regarding the game.
Once inside the elevator, Paige leaned her head back against the wall, closing her eyes. The hum of the elevator made the moment feel peaceful, a brief pause in their whirlwind of thoughts.
It was then that Azzi finally spoke, her voice soft but laced with concern. “Are you okay?”
Paige opened her eyes slowly, tilting her head slightly toward Azzi. She nodded, the motion small.
Azzi watched Paige as they stepped out of the elevator and began walking down the hall toward her room. She raised an eyebrow, noting the quiet shift in Paige’s energy. “Why’d you get all quiet on me?”
Paige glanced at her, a faint smirk pulling at her lips. “I didn’t. I was just letting you think.”
Azzi chuckled softly, shaking her head. “Right.”
When they reached Azzi’s door, she leaned casually against the wall, her arms crossed. Paige stood in front of her, looking down the hallway for a moment before meeting Azzi’s gaze.
Azzi hesitated, then said, “I probably won’t see you for a while.”
Paige nodded, not offering much else. Azzi studied her, noticing the subtle shift in her posture. “You did get quiet on me. What’s up?”
Paige shook her head. “Nothing. I’m good.”
Azzi gave her a pointed look, not buying it. “You sure about that?”
Paige sighed, looking down at her shoes for a moment before meeting Azzi’s eyes. “I’m just gonna miss you.”
Azzi softened at the admission. “Keep going,” she said quietly, sensing there was more to it.
Paige hesitated, biting the inside of her cheek. “It’s just—my thoughts are a lot quieter when you’re around, for some reason. It’s just a little jarring going back to that after you leave.”
Azzi’s expression softened as she let out a small pout, tugging on Paige’s shirt, pulling her closer. “You know, you make it hard to leave when you say things like that.”
Paige chuckled softly, a sheepish smile on her lips. “My bad.”
Azzi couldn’t help but smile at the unnecessary apology, her heart softening a little. “Come here.”
Paige hesitated for only a moment before stepping closer, the space between them closing. As soon as she was near enough, Azzi reached out, pulling Paige in by the waist to connect their lips.
The moment their lips met, Azzi felt Paige’s tense jaw, the tension still lingering in her. Azzi gently traced her finger along the curve of Paige’s jaw, coaxing her to relax. Paige let out a soft sigh, her body responding as she melted into the kiss, her hands coming to wrap around Azzi pulling her closer.
They stayed like that for several minutes, the world outside disappearing as they simply focused on the feeling of being with each other in the hallway. When Paige finally pulled back, her breath uneven, she murmured quietly, “Thank you.”
Azzi chuckled, brushing a strand of hair behind Paige’s ear. “You don’t need to thank me for that.”
The two of them lingered close, their foreheads nearly touching as they just savored the moment in silence, comfortable in each other’s presence. Eventually, Paige stepped back, putting her hands in her pockets, though Azzi noticed how her fingers absently toyed with the ring on her finger.
Azzi laughed softly, shaking her head. “You’re cute sometimes.”
Paige glanced at her with a playful smirk. “Thanks.”
Azzi turned toward the door, her hand moving to unlock it. "I’ll call you tomorrow," she said, her voice carrying the same familiarity that made everything feel a little more comfortable.
Paige nodded, her gaze softening. "Okay," she murmured, her voice barely above a whisper.
The brief silence between them lingered as Azzi slowly pushed the door open, stepping inside. She paused for a moment, eyes meeting Paige's one last time, before closing it behind her. Paige remained where she stood, her expression lingering. The soft click of the door locking was the only sound that followed, leaving Paige standing in the hallway for just a moment longer before she turned to walk away.

The buzzing atmosphere of the backstage area in Singapore should’ve been enough to distract Chan from the nagging feeling in his chest. The members were laughing, tossing snacks at each other, teasing Mingyu about his hair, and Jun was trying to teach Vernon some weird dance move he’d found online. But Chan’s heart wasn’t in it.
It was his birthday, and he should’ve been over the moon—celebrating with his hyungs, ready to give the fans an unforgettable show. But no matter how hard he tried to shake it off, he couldn’t ignore the emptiness of knowing she wasn’t there.
Y/N.
She had called him the night before, her voice soft and apologetic, telling him how much she wished she could be there with him. But work had kept her in Seoul, and Chan had understood—at least, he’d tried to. Still, waking up in a hotel room without her smile, without her morning birthday kiss, felt heavier than he expected.
He’d smiled through it all, convincing the members he was fine, but they weren’t fools. Especially not Seungkwan.
“Yah, Lee Chan,” Seungkwan called out, flopping down on the couch beside him with a knowing look. “You’ve been staring at that wall for five minutes. It’s not going to wish you a happy birthday, you know?”
Chan chuckled weakly, rubbing the back of his neck. “I’m fine, hyung. Just thinking.”
Seungkwan narrowed his eyes suspiciously, but didn’t press further. Instead, he launched into a dramatic retelling of a fan encounter from earlier that day, complete with wild gestures that had Jeonghan and Joshua in stitches. Chan tried to laugh along, but his mind drifted back to Y/N.
Maybe he could call her. Just hearing her voice might help.
Pulling out his phone, Chan excused himself from the group’s antics and dialed her number. The ringing tone echoed in his ear, and he paced a few steps, heart hoping for her familiar, warm “Hello?”
But it went straight to voicemail.
He frowned, glancing at his phone. That’s weird. Y/N usually picked up right away, especially if he was the one calling. Maybe she was busy with work or resting. Still, disappointment settled deeper in his chest.
Unbeknownst to him, the members exchanged sly glances from across the room. The plan was in motion.
A little while later, Chan returned to the group, forcing a smile as Minghao pulled him into a random arm wrestling match while DK and Woozi bickered over what snacks to eat before the show. The laughter around him was infectious, but his heart still felt heavy.
Then, just as he was about to grab a bottle of water, the room suddenly went dark.
“What the—?” Chan blinked, his eyes adjusting to the sudden darkness. “Hyung, did someone trip the power?”
Before anyone could answer, a soft glow illuminated the doorway. Chan’s heart stopped.
There she was.
Y/N stood in the entrance, a small cake in her hands, the candles flickering gently as she began to sing.
“Happy birthday to you…”
Her voice was soft, melodic, and as soon as the members and staff realized what was happening, they joined in, their voices filling the room.
Chan’s jaw dropped. His heart pounded in his chest, disbelief and joy washing over him in waves. For a moment, he thought he was dreaming. But when she stepped closer, the smile on her face as real as the tears welling in his eyes, he knew it was real.
As soon as the song ended, Chan let out a loud, gleeful shout, jumping into the air with excitement.
“Y/N!!” he exclaimed, his voice cracking with emotion.
Without thinking, he blew out the candles in one swift breath, practically snatching the cake from her hands and thrusting it into Seungcheol’s unsuspecting arms. Then, he wrapped Y/N in the tightest hug, lifting her off the ground as he spun her around.
“Oh my God, you’re here!” he whispered into her ear, his voice filled with disbelief and happiness. “I can’t believe you’re actually here.”
She laughed, her arms wrapped tightly around his neck. “Surprise, birthday boy.”
When he finally set her down, his hands cupped her face, his eyes scanning every inch of her as if to make sure she was real.
“But… how?” he asked breathlessly. “You said you couldn’t come.”
She grinned, glancing over his shoulder at the members, who were all trying to act innocent but failing miserably.
“Well,” she began, “you have some very sneaky friends.”
Seungkwan crossed his arms, a smug grin on his face. “You’re welcome, by the way.”
Chan laughed, shaking his head in disbelief. “You guys planned this?”
“The moment you started moping, we knew we had to do something,” Mingyu teased, ruffling Chan’s hair.
Joshua chuckled. “And honestly, it was fun keeping it a secret.”
Chan turned back to Y/N, his heart so full he thought it might burst. “This is the best birthday ever.”
They spent the next hour chatting, laughing, and Y/N catching up with the members as if she was part of the group. She told them stories about Chan that had them in stitches, while Chan tried (and failed) to defend himself. It felt like home, like everything was perfect.
Eventually, it was time for the concert. As the members started to prepare, Y/N squeezed Chan’s hand.
“Go give them the best show of your life,” she whispered, standing on her tiptoes to kiss his cheek. “I’ll be right there, cheering you on.”
He smiled, his heart swelling. “Don’t go too hard on me. I might get distracted.”
She laughed, and the staff led her to the front of the stage while Chan joined the members for their final preparations.
The concert was electric. The energy from the fans was overwhelming, but Chan’s eyes kept finding Y/N in the crowd. She was right there, singing along to every word, her smile shining brighter than the stage lights. Seeing her there, feeling her support—it was everything he needed.
During a brief break between songs, Seungkwan nudged Chan with his elbow, a mischievous glint in his eye.
“She’s really cheering you on, huh?” Seungkwan teased, nodding towards Y/N.
Chan grinned, his heart full. “Yeah… I’m so happy she’s here. I don’t think I’ve ever felt this good on stage.”
Seungkwan wiggled his eyebrows. “Wanna have some fun?”
Chan raised an eyebrow, curious. “What kind of fun?”
Seungkwan leaned in, whispering, “Let’s make her sing Aju Nice with us.”
Chan burst out laughing, trying to keep his composure as the next song’s intro played. “Oh, that’s evil.
Seungkwan grinned devilishly. “Come on, it’ll be fun. Let’s see if she can handle the pressure.”
Chan chuckled, shaking his head in disbelief at his hyung’s antics. “Alright, alright. Let’s do it.”
As the beat for Aju Nice kicked in, the crowd erupted in cheers. The members danced and sang, feeding off the fans’ energy. Chan kept sneaking glances at Y/N, who was jumping and singing along, completely immersed in the moment.
Then, as the chorus approached, Seungkwan gave Chan a quick nod and made his way to the edge of the stage, microphone in hand. The fans screamed louder, thinking he was about to interact with them—but Seungkwan had a different target.
Spotting Y/N in the front row, Seungkwan pointed directly at her with a mischievous grin. Her eyes widened in panic as she realized what was happening.
“Y/N!” Seungkwan called out over the mic, his voice booming through the arena. “Your turn!”
Y/N’s face turned bright red, and she immediately started shaking her head, mouthing, No way! The crowd around her laughed, some even chanting her name, encouraging her to join in.
Chan was laughing so hard on stage he nearly missed his cue. He bent over, hands on his knees, trying to catch his breath as he watched Y/N desperately wave Seungkwan off.
But Seungkwan was relentless. He leaned down, holding the microphone closer to her, his grin growing wider. “Come on, Y/N! Just one line!”
The music dipped, signaling the perfect moment for Y/N to sing the iconic Aju Nice line. The crowd fell into a playful hush, all eyes on her.
Y/N groaned, covering her face with her hands for a second before finally giving in. She peeked out from behind her fingers, took a deep breath, and with all the energy she could muster, shouted into the mic:
“AJU NICE!”
The arena exploded in cheers and laughter. Even the members on stage were clapping and cheering her on. Chan was practically rolling on the floor, his heart full of love and amusement. Y/N covered her face again, laughing along with everyone else, but Chan could see the sparkle in her eyes. She was having fun, and that was all that mattered to him.
As the song continued, Seungkwan returned to Chan’s side, still chuckling. “She did better than I thought,” he teased.
Chan grinned, his chest swelling with pride. “She’s perfect.”
After the final song and encore, the members took their bows and waved to the fans, hearts full from the incredible night. But Chan’s mind was already racing ahead, eager to see Y/N again.
Backstage was a blur of staff members congratulating them and fans’ cheers still echoing in their ears. But Chan didn’t care about any of that. The moment he saw Y/N waiting near the back entrance, he ran to her.
“Y/N!” he called out, his voice hoarse from performing but still filled with excitement.
She barely had time to react before he wrapped his arms around her, lifting her off the ground and spinning her in a circle. Her laughter was the sweetest sound in the world to him.
When he finally set her down, she cupped his face in her hands, her eyes sparkling with joy.
“Happy Birthday, my love,” she whispered, her voice soft and full of affection.
Chan’s heart felt like it could burst. He leaned in, pressing his forehead against hers, his hands resting gently on her waist.
“I love you,” he whispered back, his voice barely audible over the backstage noise.
Y/N smiled, her thumb brushing over his cheek. “I love you too, birthday boy.”

Steve couldn't believe he was doing this, but it was for Robin, and it was his day off. He literally had nothing better to do. He shouldered Robin's backpack and walked into the front office of Hawkins High. He grinned. Janice was still working at the front desk. He leaned against the counter and flashed her his best smile.
"Hey, Janice, those glasses look great on you. . .really slimming," Steve said, and she giggled, blushing. "I was hoping you could do me a favor. . ."
Steve didn't feel too guilty about using her weird little crush on him to get into Robin's classes and take notes for her. Janice looked down on anyone who wasn't a jock or a cheerleader. Steve thought about his life for a moment. . .God, it was pathetic that if he was so bored that he actually wanted to go back to school for a day. He nodded to a few people in the hallways and went to Robin's first class. It wasn't so bad. . .it was refreshing to catch up on what he had missed the first time. He didn't actually do any work. He just copied some notes. The second class wasn't so bad either, although people he didn't like kept trying to talk to him. The third class was far better. . .it was his favorite subject. He was surprised when he got to Robin's desk, and Eddie Munson sat next to him.
"Hey, Buckley, kiss any frogs - you're not Buckley," Eddie said.
"No, but I can understand the confusion, we do look alike," Steve said.
"You look nothing - yeah, you're fucking with me," Eddie said, narrowing his eyes at him. "What is King Steve doing gracing us with our presence?"
"Robin's sick. It's my day off, and she wanted me to take notes for her. I'd rather be here than be at home," Steve said. "What were you about to ask Robin?"
"Well, I was going to ask her if she kissed any frogs that turned into princes - princes. . .that turned into princes," Eddie said rather quickly. "Uh, it was an inside joke."
Steve narrowed his eyes at him. Steve was slow, but he wasn't that slow. Eddie had stumbled and put too much emphasis on princes. He was going to say princesses.
"You know," Steve hissed, lowering his voice.
"Of course, I know. She wrote it on her fucking shoes, man," Eddie whispered. "Everyone else is too caught up in their own shit to notice, but I sat right next to her. You know, too?"
"She's my best friend in the world, my platonic soulmate," Steve said. "Of course, I know."
"Platonic soulmate, huh?" Eddie grinned. "I think I have one of those."
"Really?" He asked.
"Her name's Ronnie," Eddie said.
"You're fucking with me," Steve grinned.
"I am not," Eddie laughed quietly. "She's up in New York studying to become a lawyer. Ronnie. Robin. Ronnie. Robin. Yeah, it's funny. . .we've been friends since we were eight. I once tried to kiss her because I thought it was the logical next step in our relationship. Silly me."
"No way, I tried to hit on Robin," Steve said with a grin.
"Well, we're both idiots," Eddie cackled.
"I'm not going to disagree," Steve said.
Steve wanted to say more, but the teacher hushed them, and they had no choice but to begin taking notes. Eddie leaned over casually, his big brown eyes pleading with him.
"If I go to sleep, can I borrow those notes?" Eddie asked innocently.
"Does Robin lend you her notes?" Steve asked.
"Yeeess," Eddie said, laying his chin on his hands, blinking at him, and Steve gave him a look. "Okay. So, no, she doesn't."
"Then why would I?" Steve asked.
"Because she's not the boss of you," Eddie said.
Steve looked at him and thought about it for a moment. No, it was clearly a trap.
"No," Steve said firmly.
"You're mean," Eddie pouted.
Steve smirked as Eddie began scribbling furiously in his notebook, muttering and looking over at him every so often. When the teacher was done, she handed out work for them to do in class. Steve took that up along with Robin's homework. While everyone else worked, he pulled out a book. He wasn't very far into the book when he noticed that Eddie was struggling. He leaned over to whisper in his ear.
"Do you want some help?" He asked.
"You wouldn't help me before," Eddie said.
"I wouldn't help you skate by," Steve said, rolling his eyes. "But I can show you some tricks that helped me."
"By all means, my liege," Eddie said.
Steve scooted closer to him, and looking over Eddie's paper, he showed him easier ways to solve the problems. He could feel Eddie's eyes watching him, and he couldn't help but feel warm inside at the feeling of Eddie's gaze on him.
"Did you get all that?" Steve asked.
"Yeah, I did," Eddie said, smiling softly. "You're pretty smart."
"Don't sound so surprised. The whole dumb jock thing is just a stereotype," Steve said.
"It's a shitty stereotype," Eddie said in realization.
"Definitely," Steve said. "Just like it's a shitty stereotype that people who play D&D worship the devil."
Eddie and Steve locked eyes. Hazel eyes peering into brown. . .there was a deep understanding there. . .that they weren't so different after all.
"So. . .why don't you want to be at home?" Eddie asked.
"My parents are there, and they're not exactly proud of me for not getting into college or working at a menial job instead of working for my asshole homophobic father," Steve whispered. "Plus, they'd rather not be around their queer son, so I get out of their hair when I can."
"You're. . .gay?" Eddie asked in surprise. "But all those girls. . .?"
"I didn't sleep with that many," Steve rolled his eyes. "It's such an exaggeration. And I'm bisexual. . .more than one gender for Steve Harrington."
"And you're telling me this why. . .?" Eddie asked, not unkindly.
"Because you get it, man," Steve replied.
"Oh, you mean because of Robin?" Eddie asked.
"Not just Robin, I mean, aren't you - ," Steve said and stopped when Eddie just looked at him. "Okay, I'm asshole. I just assumed - ,"
"Everyone does it," Eddie said. "I don't know why."
"Could be because of the way you represent the freaks and the outcasts. Most people assume the majority of them are queer but you'd surprised how many there are among the conservatives," Steve grinned. "But it also might be because of the hanky hanging out of your ass pocket."
"My hanky?" Eddie asked in confusion.
Steve leaned over and whispered in his ear to tell him about the code amongst people like him and Robin. Steve pulled back and watched his dumbfounded face.
"You okay, there?" He asked.
"Well, that makes total sense. . .I think I was actually fucking hit on a couple of times when I went out," Eddie said. "Honestly, I wear it because most metalheads do, plus it's useful. I mean, I've had sex a couple of times, but I've never done stuff like that. I mean, sure, I have handcuffs on my wall so I wouldn't be opposed to being chained up and spanked - ,"
"Mr. Munson!" The teacher yelled.
"Ooh, did I say that a little too loudly?" Eddie asked, and Steve snickered.
After class, Steve started walking to the next one while Eddie got chewed out by the teacher. It wasn't long before he heard someone call his name, and before he could turn around, he felt someone run into his back. He turned around, grabbing Eddie by the arms to steady him.
"Did you get in trouble?" Steve asked.
"Nah, I reminded him that he really shouldn't hit on his students," Eddie grinned. "Anyway. . .you want to sit with us at lunch?"
"Sure, Dustin will be thrilled," Steve said and Eddie laughed.
"I'm flattered by the way," Eddie said with a grin.
"By what?" Steve asked.
"By the fact that you thought I was queer. . .huge compliment," Eddie said. "And you're also, clearly in love with me. . .very flattered about that."
"I am not!" Steve scoffed.
"Sure, you're not," Eddie cackled.
They parted ways, and after fourth period, Steve met up with Dustin and Mike.
"This is so cool!" Dustin exclaimed. "Can you come to school with us everyday?"
"No, man," Steve laughed. "I got work."
"I bet you'd want to go to school with your mother," Mike teased.
"I would love to go to school with my mom. She's awesome!" Dustin yelled.
Steve laughed and placed his hand on Dustin's head, shaking it affectionately.
"I've been invited by your dungeon master to join you guys for lunch," Steve said.
"You spoke to Eddie?!" Dustin gasped.
"Yeah, and he's actually kind of. . .cool," Steve said.
"I told you!" Dustin exclaimed. "Mike, did you hear that?! He thinks Eddie's cool."
"I'm literally standing on his other side," Mike said. "And of course, Steve thinks Eddie's cool. Steve’s not stupid."
"Thanks, Mike," Steve grinned.
Steve followed them into the cafeteria, where they got their lunch, and then headed towards the Hellfire table. He glanced around the room, and his eyes landed on Lucas. Steve raised his eyebrows at him questioningly, and he shook his head. He turned back to the table, feeling disappointed, but he understood. Eddie was sitting at the head of the table with an empty chair next to him. His eyes caught Steve’s and he waved eagerly before slapping the chair next to him.
"I think he wants you to sit next to him," Mike said.
"I think so, too," Steve grinned in amusement.
Eddie really was cute. How he ever thought he was scary was beyond him. Steve adjusted Robin's backpack and walked over to the chair meant for him. He sat down in it, smiling, and Eddie quickly introduced everyone.
"Steve Harrington's really joining us for lunch?" Jeff asked.
"I told you. . .he's cool," Eddie said.
"Didn't you graduate?" Gareth asked.
"I'm taking notes and collecting homework for my friend, Robin," Steve replied.
"Couldn't you have just asked for the teachers to send everything to the front of office?" Jeff asked.
"Sure, but then I wouldn't be hanging out with you guys," Steve said.
"Oh my god," Jeff said, looking into his eyes. "You actually mean that."
"Look, I'm sorry for the other douchebags on the team who made you feel like all jocks are out to - ," Steve started to say.
"Your parents are home, aren't they?" Dustin asked, slamming down his tray for dramatic effect.
"Yeah," Steve shrugged.
"Shit, man, sorry," Mike asked. "I know your parents are total assholes."
"Do they know?" Eddie asked, leaning close to Steve to 'whisper'.
"We know," Dustin and Mike said together.
Eddie snapped his head to look at them. Steve snorted. He really needs to work on his whispering. Mike and Dustin's head snapped to look at each other.
"You know?" Mike and Dustin asked.
"Of course, I know!" Dustin and Mike exclaimed again.
Oops, did he forget to tell them that they knew?
"Steve dated my sister for a year. Whenever his parents were home, Steve had dinner with us and occasionally slept in the basement," Mike said. "He's always welcome around our house."
"I am?" Steve asked.
"Duh," Mike rolled his eyes. "Can't you tell that we care about you?"
"Have you looked at your face when you talk to people?" Jeff asked. "You and Gareth both are a couple of grumpy looking bears."
Before Mike could open his mouth to say something, a basketball came flying out of nowhere and landed on Dustin's tray. Food flew everywhere, including on Dustin. Steve scowled, and he quickly located the source. Jason Carver was laughing with a bunch of his friends. He turned away from the Hellfire table. Big fucking mistake. Eddie moved to get up, but Steve pushed him back down. He grabbed the basketball and judged the distance. Yeah, he could do it. Steve threw his arm back and tossed the basketball. He was pleased when it made a loud thunking sound as it hit Jason in the head. He stumbled into his friends' arms as the cafeteria gasped. Jason whirled around and glared at Steve.
"You might want to keep an eye on your balls, Carver, you don't want to lose them," Steve said.
"Pathetic, Harrington," Jason said. "At least I'm not a disappointment to my family name."
"Yeah, finds someone who gives a shit, Carver, because I don't. At the end of the day, it doesn't fucking matter," Steve said. "You don't scare me. I've seen bigger pieces of shit than you. However, if you go after my kids again. . .I'm going to make you piss your fucking pants. All it takes is a few phone calls."
Steve stared Carver down, his eyes narrowed. At first, it didn't seem like he was going to call him on his bluff, but then Carver huffed and yanked his friends back down with him. Steve sat down to find the entire table, looking at him in shock.
"Holy shit," Gareth breathed with wide eyes.
"Uh. . .sorry, did I make that worse for you guys?" Steve asked.
"I mean, probably, but it was so fucking metal," Jeff said.
"It totally was," Dustin beamed and even Mike couldn't stop from grinning.
Steve looked over at Eddie to find him looking at him wide eyes, his mouth open in awe of him.
"Eddie? Are you okay?" Steve asked and waved a hand in front of his face.
"He gets like this sometimes," Jeff said, looking at Eddie in confusion. "Although, I didn't think he'd get like this over you. Give him a minute."
"Okay. . .here, Dustin, you can have my lunch," Steve said and began cleaning up the mess.
"Thanks, Steve, but I'll go get a new one," Dustin said. "Eat yours."
By the time Dustin came back with a new tray, Eddie snapped out of it. . .whatever it was.
"Fucking metal," Eddie breathed. "Are you an angel?"
"Definitely not," Steve said with a smirk.
A COUPLE OF WEEKS LATER. . .
"I still can't believe it. I was joking when I told you to sub in for me," Robin said.
They were currently at Family Video, even though it was closed. It was inventory day, and they were both stuck with the job.
"I was bored, Robin, and my parents were home!" Steve exclaimed.
"You went in my place and fell in love with a straight man," Robin said. "I don't know whether to laugh or cry for you."
"Oh, you should also know that I flirted with Vickie for you," Steve said.
"WHAT?!" Robin shrieked and almost dropped the tapes. "Steven Robin Harrington, I swear - ,"
"Relax, Robin Steven Buckley, I was fucking with you," Steve said. "A little sympathy for my plight wouldn't kill you, you know?"
"Asshole," Robin said, but she was smiling slightly. "Have you tried talking to him?"
"Yeah, but he keeps running away from me. He once zig zagged through the entire school parking lot, screaming," Steve sighed. "I think I freaked him out with my sexuality."
"If he's okay with me, then he should be okay with you," Robin said.
"Robin. . .you know that's not exactly true. You know there's people within our own community who don't accept people like me. You remember what happened when we visited that gay bar. That guy accused me of pretending to be gay and said there's no such thing as bisexuality," Steve said. "And his friend agreed, but he said that I was a confused gay man. He told me that it was okay to be myself while rejecting who I am! How the fuck does that work?"
"Yeah, that was fucked up. I didn't know who to punch first. . .okay, so, you have a point, but maybe he's freaking out about something else," Robin said and sighed. "And if he is being like that, then I'll dismember him slowly while he's still alive and then let him bleed out."
"You'd do that for me?" Steve asked.
"Of course, you're my dingus," Robin said, stroking his hair. "And I expect you to do the same."
"Of course," Steve scoffed and then paused. "You know, Dustin said he left town last weekend. I mean, he came back, but he wouldn't say where he went."
"Yeah, this is definitely something else," Robin said. "I'm going to go to the bathroom, and when I get back, I fully expect all these negative thoughts to be gone."
"How long have you known me?" Steve scoffed.
"Surprisingly less than a year," Robin said.
"It feels like we've known each other our whole lives," Steve said.
"I know," Robin said fondly and then disappeared into the back.
Steve knelt on the floor and tried to focus on the inventory, but his thoughts went back to Eddie. It took one day for Steve to screw that up. . .although he couldn't figure out how he screwed it up. His thoughts were interrupted by the sound of a tapping on the door. Steve sighed and stood up.
"Can't you read the sign? We're closed - Eddie," Steve froze when he saw Eddie standing at the door, his hands in his pockets.
Eddie pulled one of his hands out of his pockets and waved awkwardly. Steve looked at him for a moment, studying him. Eddie's big brown eyes looked apologetic and guilty. Steve sighed and moved to the door before letting him in. Eddie slid past him, and he closed the door behind him, locking it back. Steve crossed his arms and looked at him expectantly.
"Hey," Eddie said awkwardly.
"Hey," Steve said. "Is that all you have to say or are you going to run away from me again?"
"No. . .no, definitely not. I've just been struggling with something, and I haven't been able to deal with it. I decided to go up and visit Ronnie. We talked about it for a long time," Eddie said pausing. "We've finally come to the conclusion that I've been struggling with the whole bisexuality thing."
"Well, I'm sorry that my sexuality bothers you," Steve said, angrily. "And if you can't tell, that was sarcasm. . .go fuck yourself."
"Fuck! No! That's - ," Eddie was interrupted by a loud scream.
Robin dove over the counter and tackled Eddie to the ground. Eddie shrieked.
"PREPARE TO DIE!" Robin yelled.
"No! No! I'm the same! I'm the same!" Eddie yelled as Robin slapped him, and then she took a box cutter out of her pocket. "I'M BISEXUAL, I'M BISEXUAL!"
Robin dropped the box cutter, but she remained on top of Eddie, frozen.
"Pardon?" She asked.
"That's what I was struggling with. . .my own sexuality. . .ever since Steve threw that ball at Jason Carver," Eddie said. "And I didn't know what I was feeling, so I didn't know how to talk to you so I did what I always fucking do when I get scared. . .I ran."
"Well, this was a rather awkward breakdown in communication," Robin said and got up, helping Eddie. "Thank God, I didn't want to have to kill you. I mean, we have the means to make a body disappear, but I did not want to go through it. Good luck, Steve."
Eddie watched as she disappeared into the back again and he looked back at Steve, his eyes comically wide.
"What the fuck did she mean by that? You can make a dead body disappear? Steve, what did she mean by that?" Eddie asked.
"Never mind about that," Steve laughed. "Tell me more about you realizing you're bisexual because of me."
"Okay, but we're going to come back to that other thing. . .right?" He asked.
"Eddie, focus," Steve said.
"Well, I mean, that's pretty much it," Eddie said. "I like you. . .a lot."
"I like you a lot, too," Steve replied.
"Now what?" Eddie asked.
"Well, this is usually the part where we - "
" - fuck?" He asked.
"I was going to say kiss," Steve laughed. "But I like that your mind leaped frogged to that, but I'm pretty sure that Robin would kill us."
"Damn straight!" They heard Robin yell, and then she laughed. "HA! Get it? Because none of us are. . .Goddamnit, I'm hanging out with Dustin too much."
"Right, so kiss?" Eddie asked.
Steve laughed, cupped the back of his neck, and pulled him in for a kiss. Eddie froze before melting into it, wrapping his arms tightly around his waist. He deepened the kiss as Steve wrapped his arms around his neck, enjoying the way his lips moved against his. . .so soft and plump. God, Steve wanted to kiss him forever. Eddie pulled away, leaning his forehead against his.
"I'm sorry, I should have worded that better," Eddie said. "And I shouldn't have run away from you. . .in one single day, you turned my life upside down. . .although, I guess I've been struggling with my feelings for a long time. According to Ronnie, you're not the first man I flirted with."
"I didn't always know about myself either, so it's okay, Eddie, I get it," Steve said. "You're here now."
Steve buried his head into his shoulder and hugged him tightly. Never would he have been so grateful that his platonic soulmate had gotten the flu or that his parents had been home. . .It's funny how life works out like that.

You asked I'll deliver a lot of this is gonna be what I wish I had and what I'm hoping for in the future but I am actively working on it now too
Im aromantic but not romance repulsed I wanna have someone (or someones cause I'm also Poly) who I cuddle with who I do kink with platonically who I put before most people simply because we're very close because we're really really good friends and I love them in a queer platonic manner But when I say queer platonic i dont mean a monogamous vanilla relationship (no hate to those that do) I mean Poly I mean Kinky and weird I mean is this a friendship? and most people would tell you no because it's too close to be "Just friends" The societal expectations around "just friends" and the idea of that is so belittling to the way that I love people. if I get to know you and get connected to you it's going to be a queer platonic relationship! I can't just platonically love somebody but I am in no way romantically loving somebody either it's a beautiful mash of the two and something else I cant even explain but I'll try. I'm still going to want to know your medical history to keep you safe know where your spoons are in your kitchen know how to feed your pets and and clean your house sometimes when I'm over because I know where everything is and I know that you're having a rough day and I love you you're my friend that's just what I do I had a friendship that had these elements in it and these 2 were together and neither of them liked mustard but I hung out with them so frequently and was such a good friend with them that they kept mustard in their refrigerator FOR me
I tried to explain it but I don't think either of them ever really understood how much that IS love to me that is the closest I ever want to get to romantic love
And so when we weren't friends anymore even though things had only ever been platonic and then my queer version of platonic it has felt like a breakup
And on the Ace part kink is sex to me genitals don't have to mash for that to be a thing but I would still do that too not because I am feeling sexual attraction but because it's a thing that I think could be fun to do with a person occasionally and or because they would like to not because I'm feeling the attraction about it so as far as I concerned I'm still Ace anyway I hope this is what you meant and I hope this helped but I promise you OP people are out here doing it like that it's fun
Im sorry but being aromantic and/or asexual is such a beautiful, complex identity that opens up almost endless possibilities and interpretations about sex and romance and relationships and struggles within those,
and i will always absolutely LOATHE how both the outside and the aro/ace community itself have boiled these identities down to just "doesnt have sex" and "doesnt date"

──── ──── ──── ──── ──── ────
You and Jisung were seen to be the cutest couple out of the friend group.
You both had a fight earlier that day, but when boys had invited you both over because Mark was having trouble with his girlfriend and needed a group meeting to figure everything out. Jisung thought it would be a good idea to put a pause on the situation.
You two shared so many cute moments together, acting extra clingy in front of all your friends, so it was weird to see you both on the opposite ends of the room acting cold towards each other. For instance, every time Jisung would say something, you would interrupt with a passive aggressive, back handed comment.
"Maybe it's just a misunderstanding?" Jisung told mark.
"You do love that word." You responded under your breath, just enough for everyone to hear it.
He ignored it the first time.
"Come on, we're all mature adults here." He spoke up, responding to something Mark had said.
"Debatable." You coughed out.
He turned to you, giving you a warning glance as you lowered your head, clearing your throat.
Jisung responded once more to Mark: "I don't think you two meant to upset each other."
You cleared your throat. "Intentions don't erase consequences, but sure." You said.
Mark and Jisung both looked at you at the same time.
"Yeah, you're right Y/n." Mark spoke, nodding in agreement.
You took the opportunity to make a small face at Jisung, titling your head at him slightly, a small detail he would've missed if he wasn't looking at you so intently.
Mark noticed as well, looking between the both of you. "Are you two ok?" He piped up and asked.
"Yeah we're good. I think we're all just overthinking some things." Jisung responded.
"Some of us more than others." You said lowly, prompting Jisung to turn to you, inching closer with a dark look on his face.
"Listen, you guys can leave if you need to." Mark spoke up.
"No, we're good." Jisung said.
"No actually, I think we should head out." You responded, looking up at him as he stood in front of you.
"Well, I'm not ready to go." Jisung said, looking directly at you, his eyes full of pure darkness.
"Well, then you can find a ride home." You responded, standing up in front of him.
"If you walk out, you're going to regret it later." Jisung spoke harshly, his voice barely above a whisper, only for you to hear.
"Bite me." You whispered, a sly smirk painting your face as you walked past him.
"I'm gonna head out guys, I hope you get everything figured out Mark. Jisung's staying so you'll have his... wise words." You said, glancing back at him.
His face was full of anger as he looked at you, but then, a small smirk appeared on his face as he nodded.
"I'll see you at home." He said, inching closer to you once more, pulling you into a tight hug, his grip on your waist rough.
"See you." You responded, before turning away and walking out.
It was about an hour later, and you were in the bedroom. You heard the front door rattling, then the noise of it slamming, followed up by:
"Y/n, where the fuck are you."
You looked up from your phone, standing up as his heavy footsteps reached the bedroom door. He swung it open, his face painted with a dark expression, knuckles red as if he'd been clutching something tightly.
He didn't pause. He was on you in seconds, crossing the room, his cold hand wrapping around your throat before you could think to move.
You stumbled back, spine hitting the wall with a dull thud, a soft gasp slipping from your lips as his fingers flexed against your skin.
"Do you like making me mad?" He said, his thumb brushing along the delicate skin of your throat.
You didn't answer, just looked at him with glossy eyes, which just made him angrier.
"What, you can't speak now? You had so much to say earlier in front of everyone, now you can't speak?" His grip tightened, just enough to remind you that he could take it away if he wanted to.
Your lips trembled, but you still didn't speak, glossy eyes locked onto his.
His patience snapped..
"Y/n, you're seriously pissing me off." He said, removing his hand from your throat.
"Get on your knees, and I'm not going to ask you again." He spoke, backing away from the wall and examining your movements.
You hesitated for only a second before you obeyed, lowering yourself onto the carpet. The rough fabric rubbed into your bare knees, the friction stinging slightly, but you ignored it, keeping your gaze on him.
"Since you want to use your fucking mouth so much." He murmured to himself, looking to the side, before his gaze fixated on you again.
"What the fuck are you waiting for?" His voice was low and impatient
You got the hint. Hands trembling slightly, you reached for the buttons of his jeans, fingers grazing the cool metal as you began to unfasten them, but before you could, his hands shot out, gripping both of your wrists in a firm hold.
A startled breath escaped you as he yanked them together, lifting them slightly into the air, keeping you trapped in place.
He tilted his head, amusement in his gaze as he studied your reaction.
"You like to run your mouth so much. So use it, take them off." He replied, looking at you with a sly smirk.
"Ji—" You barely managed to whisper his name before he cut you off.
"I'm not going to tell you again." His grip on your wrists tightened just enough to make his point, his smirk deepening.
You leaned in, gripping the edge of the fabric between your teeth, tugging firmly. Your tongue pressed against the button, working it free from the hole with a slow motion.
You ran your tongue along the top of the zipper, trailing downward. The fabric of his underwear brushed against your tongue as you moved, heat radiating through the material as you licked over his clothed bulge.
"Pull them down with your teeth, I want to see it." He said, watching you intently.
You bit into the edge of the jeans, moving your head slowly to pull them down. Your hands stretched above your head as his grip tightened on your wrist. You looked up at him, silently awaiting his next command.
"What, are you stupid?" His voice was sharp. "Pull my underwear down."
"Ji, can I please use my hands?" You asked, your voice soft, almost pleading.
"No." He replied quickly. "Now shut up and pull them down."
You teased along the waistband of his underwear with your tongue, catching the fabric gently between your teeth before tugging it down.
"You know what to do." He said, his voice low.
You moved your head, licking a slow line from his base to his tip, drawing a sharp exhale from him.
"Stop teasing." He warned, his grip tightening around your wrist, the pressure causing a hint of discomfort.
You obeyed instantly, wrapping your lips around his sensitive tip, cheeks hollowing as his breathing grew heavier.
You lowered your head along his dick, taking him deeper as his breath hitched, a heavy exhale slipping past his lips. His eyes darkened, focused intently on the way your lips stretched and glistened around him.
"Is that the best you can do without your hands? Pathetic." He murmured with a taunting sigh. Before you had time to react, he bucked his hips unexpectedly, pushing himself deeper. The sudden motion caught you off guard, forcing you to pull back with a choked gasp, coughing as you struggled to catch your breath.
"Look at you, choking already, and I barely put it in. Such a useless slut." He groaned, his voice rough.
You lifted your gaze defiantly. "You just caught me off guard." You shot back, though the instant the words left your mouth, regret settled.
His expression darkened, lips curling into a smirk. "Oh yeah?" He challenged, tugging your arms upward, making your shoulders strain slightly from the sudden pressure.
Before you could respond, his free hand gripped your face, fingers pressing firmly into your cheeks, forcing your lips to pucker.
"Then do it correctly, or I'll do it for you." He scoffed.
You took him back into your mouth, moving roughly. It was definitely harder without using your hands, but you managed to maintain your rhythm. That is, until Jisung shifted forward again, his hips thrusting deeply into your mouth, catching you off guard.
You jolted back, gasping for breath, your chest rising and falling as you tried to regain composure. His sharp gaze pierced through you, a flicker of disdain in his eyes.
"You're so fucking annoying." He spoke, the words laced with contempt.
Before you had a chance to react, he released your wrists, only for his hands to swiftly find the back of your head. His grip was firm as he pushed you back down.
Your eyes widened in surprise from the sudden contact, your breath catching in your throat. The way he hit the back of your throat so quickly left you breathless, the intensity making your hands instinctively grasp at his thighs for support.
A wave of heat spread through you, and you struggled to adjust to the overwhelming sensation, your body reacting before your mind could catch up. The pressure built, and you could feel the pulse in his muscles beneath your fingers as you held on, desperately trying to steady yourself.
Fuck like that." He groaned, his fingers gripping your hair tighter, pulling you in closer as he thrust into your mouth with increasing force. His breath hitched as his control slipped away, each movement more urgent than the last.
Hot tears streamed down your cheeks as you struggled to keep up with each harsh thrust. The sensation of him filling your mouth made you gag, the sounds muffled as you desperately tried to breathe. Drool leaked from the corners of your lips, dripping down your chin.
"Fuck, tighten the back of your throat Y/n." He groaned through gritted teeth, his voice thick with lust. His grip on your hair tightened painfully, fingers digging into your scalp as he yanked you forward, forcing you to take him deeper with each rough pull.
You blinked rapidly, your eyes stinging as your eye makeup blurred from your tears, streaking down your face. Jisung didn't care, in fact, it only turned him on more. His pleasure growing with every sign of your discomfort.
"Such a whore." He panted, his voice rough and breathless as his tip collided with the back of your throat.
You moaned as his dick filled your mouth, the mix of pain and pleasure overwhelming you in a way that turned you on more than you were willing to admit.
“Bet this turns you on, doesn't it? Being used like this. Like a little slut.” He taunted, his voice low.
You squeezed your thighs together, trying to hold onto control, but the louder and more intense the sounds of him hitting your throat became, the harder it was.
“This dirty little fucking mouth.” He groaned, his breath heavy with desire. “Gonna fill it up with all my cum.” He whimpered out, head falling back in pleasure as the intensity of it all hit him.
With a few more rough thrusts, you felt him twitch deep at the back of your throat. A loud cry escaped him, his body tensing as he reached his high. Moments later, you felt his warm liquid in your mouth.
He slowly withdrew from your mouth, a trail of his cum dripping down your chin.
He paused for a moment, staring at you with a look of satisfaction in his eyes, before raising his hand to give your cheek two soft slaps. Without another word, he pulled up his pants and underwear, his eyes lingering on you for a brief second before he turned and walked out of the room.
Left alone, you were still kneeling on the floor, your throat sore, your head throbbing, and your hair tangled.

He checks in with Eddie after his date. His weird date. His 'actually going really well before a sharp left turn into weird' date.
"Weird how?" Eddie asks.
Buck can hear him moving around, opening and closing doors, telling Chris fifteen minutes til dinner. He misses them both with a sharp ache.
"She was weird about Tommy," he says, sighing.
He can feel the judgment all the way from Texas. "Why were you talking about Tommy on a date?"
"I wasn't! Not really. I just…mentioned him. In a normal way. She was… I think she was weird about like. His existence? As a guy?"
"Oh," Eddie says, like that makes sense. "That sucks, sorry, man."
Buck chews his lip. Are you like, gay? echoes in his head.
"Buck?"
"Yeah. Still here. I just. I don't know. She wanted like. A word?"
Bi, then?
Sure, I guess.
"A - what?"
"A word," he says again. "For, like. What I am?"
For what six months with Tommy means I am.
"Oh…kay. And?"
"I. I don't think I have one."
He really hopes Eddie can't hear the panic rising in his voice.
tbc maybe probably possibly

❀˖° haven't been caught
pairing: kook!reader x bf!jj synopsis: reader sneaks out with her boyfriend warnings / tags: fluff wc: 600 a/n; inspired by the 5sos song 'good girls'. originally posted 09/24/2024

you're a good girl, daddy's favorite.
yet his lips on yours feel so addictive, his hands sliding up under the hem of your shirt behind the rows of books, pulling you closer.
everyone thinks you're sweet like sugar, pretty as a picture.
you have it all; a wealthy father who already planned out the next five years of your life down to the classes you'd be taking at a college he chose, one of the richest guys in town as your perfect boyfriend, an academic career to watch out for.
yet there you were, an eyeliner pencil in hand as you smudged some into your waterline, getting ready to see jj.
"if you're not more careful, you're gonna get caught." nicky piped up, scrolling on his phone on your bed.
"i know, that's what this is for." you sigh, turning to him, the boy looking at you up and down, "how do i look?"
"like a... pogue." nicky said, scrunching his nose up slightly as he took in your attire, your usual dresses and skirts replaced by a bikini top, one of jj's shirts and a pair of ripped denim shorts.
"perfect." you grin, "you remember our plan?"
"yes, don't come out of your room and if i hear your dad passing the door i'll pretend to be talking sweet nothings to you." he scoffed, "isn't it kind of weird that he lets us have sleepovers despite us 'dating'?"
"maybe he's seen you check him out." you say with a grin, "or he just hopes i baby-trap you."
"we would have a cute kid. if we end up in a lavender marriage, could we have one?"
"definitely." you said, opening your bedroom window, "tell connor i said hi."
"oh, 'hi sweetie, my girlfriend told me to say hi to you'." nicky rolled his eyes with a snort, watching as you started climbing out of your window. "tell pogue boy to bring you home at appropriate hours."
you flipped him off, before starting on your usual route out of your bedroom. and when you landed on the ground and saw him leaning against his dirt bike with his usual grin adorning his face, you couldn't help but run to him, a wide smile on your face.
jj laughed as he caught you, holding onto your waist as you kissed him, the blonde lifting you off the ground. "missed you..." he mumbled against your lips as he set you back down, his forehead connected with yours.
"i missed you too."
"ready to go?"
"where are we going?"
"somewhere we get to be alone." jj shrugged, a daring look on his eyes as you both hopped onto his bike.
your arms tightened their hold around his waist, the wind sweeping your hair back as you flew past the line between figure eight and the cut, and in that moment, it didn't matter to you that it was in the middle of the night, or that this should be the last thing you're doing with the last person you were supposed to be doing it with, all that mattered was how warm jj's body felt under your hands.
and every part of you was ecstatic when you finally got to be alone with him, to feel his hands on your body. guess good girls are just bad girls that haven't been caught.

"Well, my type of guy is someone that's fun to hang around with, someone that don't think I'm weird…..s..someone that wouldn't mind going on dates with. I like someone that loves adventure and just having fun. That he is willing to do what makes him himself but has a sweet kind side. I'm into someone that's not scared to prove someone else that they can whoever they want.."
Kisho became quiet when Miko explained about her type. He blinked at her and had a look of surprise when he continued to listen. Then finally..
"A…also, I sometimes hope that the someone I like..wouldn't mind giving snuggles and hugs if we were along together. I don't even mind them snuggling into my boobs or my thighs……honestly."
Now Kisho's brain went inside a whirlwind as his head is spinning. "D-D-d-do I like...girl with soft boobies and thighs? Um..." He is now sweating. Doctor Ieiri is now smirking, trying to stifle a giggle hearing this. She has to hear this but she kept quiet as she drags Mi-Sun behind the curtains so they can hear. But they're not the only girls hearing this. Some of the female students are outside the nurse's office like Hana and Yuria for example, putting their ears against the door. "What are they saying?" Yuria asked. "I-I don't want to freak you out or anything but...yeah....errr...well..."
----- Meanwhile ----
"I hope you're proud of yourself..." Noritoshi goes to attend to his bruises. "You managed to embarrass someone and yourself. Was it worth it?"
----- Nurse's Office ----
Kisho mutters something under his breath that is inaudible.
"I don't mind if it's you, Miko. y-you're my type..."
"Yeah, you did but at least it was not a bad one." Miko was still worried but looking at him, she wanted Kisho to be alright even so. Now came her question if he really did like that sort of thing.
Even Mi-sun was shocked almost dropping the tray she had when hearing this. What the heck!? Miko wanted to know if that was true even if she looks to him wanting a answer.
"Uh…well…I mean…I-I was…" Kisho answers, looking unsure. He needs to change the subject!
"You see Todo has been asking me what is type of woman or man, right? So that's how this fight went down. So you know…" Kisho's eyes shifted back and forth.
"I..I see. Though, I was not expecting that given that Todo would suggest that. Even if not all girls have big asses as he says.." she sighed closing her eyes but she looks to him.
"By the way, Miko…what's your type? What's your type of guy?"
"Huh? M..My type?" She blinks to think about it but Miko looks down to think for a moment. "Well, my type of guy is someone that's fun to hang around with, someone that don't think I'm weird.....s..someone that wouldn't mind going on dates with. I like someone that loves adventure and just having fun. That he is willing to do what makes him himself but has a sweet kind side. I'm into someone that's not scared to prove someone else that they can whoever they want.." she said yet her face went pink to poke her fingers. "Even if we fight for what is right or for one another and our friends.."
"A...also, I sometimes hope that the someone I like..wouldn't mind giving snuggles and hugs if we were along together. I don't even mind them snuggling into my boobs or my thighs......honestly." She blushed worse saying that.
"I even wouldn't mind hearing them say they love me for who I am like I do with them. Or them freaking out if I see things without being called a freak. I don't have picky taste on who I look for in someone. I'm not trying to judge someone for anything." she said yet she sighed.
"Though..you didn't answer my question....d..does this mean you really do like girls with soft boobies and thighs? D..does this also mean you wouldn't mind a girl with them? L...like me? Or am I not your type?" she asked that Mi-sun even drops her tray now shocked.
What in the world are these teenagers thinking right now?! What was Todo even trying to start!?

Fake It Till You Feel It- Part 2
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Rafe Cameron x Reader Series
Series Masterlist Here
Summary: You see your ex with a new girl wrapped around him after he told you “wasn’t ready for a relationship” after you had slowly started to fall for him. The betrayal stings. Rafe Cameron is dealing with his own issue—Amelia, a girl who refuses to take the hint that he’s not interested. One night you impulsively pretend to be Rafe’s girlfriend to get her to back off. To your surprise, it works. You also notice Alex looking pissed. This starts to become an unspoken routine between you when either Alex or Amelia are around. Simple right? However, longer this goes on, the more the lines blur between what’s real and what’s not.
••••••••••••••••••••• ••••••••••••••••••••••
Part 3- An Unspoken Routine
The plan—if you could even call it that—hadn’t been discussed, hadn’t been put into words. But somehow, it had started to fall into place on its own.
The morning after Topper’s party, you half-expected to wake up with regret, wondering if you’d taken things too far by roping Rafe into your little act. But instead, you woke up to a text from him.
Rafe: Hope I was a good fake boyfriend last night. 10/10 performance, if I say so myself.
You snorted, shaking your head. Of course he’d find a way to be cocky about it.
You: Solid effort. But I’d give you an 8.5. You could’ve committed more.
A minute later, your phone vibrated again.
Rafe: Committed? I had my arm around you all night, babe. That’s Oscar-worthy.
You: Mm. A real method actor. Next time, try harder.
You hadn’t meant for there to be a next time. It was supposed to be a one-off thing—a moment of convenience, of mutual gain. But by the time another party rolled around a few days later, you and Rafe had already slipped into an unspoken rhythm.
Kelce’s house was packed, the music loud enough to make the walls vibrate, the air humid with the heat of too many bodies crammed into one space. You weren’t sure why you had come—maybe out of habit, maybe because you didn’t want Alex to think you were avoiding him. Either way, you found yourself sipping a drink by the pool, watching as groups of people played drunken games and swayed to the beat of whatever song was blasting through the speakers.
And then, like clockwork, Rafe appeared at your side.
“Your favourite person is here,” he murmured, nodding toward the patio entrance.
You followed his gaze, and sure enough—Alex had just walked in. And he wasn’t alone. The same girl from the last party clung to his arm, her manicured fingers gripping his bicep like she was staking a claim.
You swallowed down the brief sting in your chest and turned back to Rafe. “Great.”
He studied you for a moment, his expression unreadable. Then, with the same easy confidence he always carried, he leaned in slightly, lowering his voice. “Wanna piss him off?”
The answer should’ve been no. You should’ve just ignored Alex, let it roll off your shoulders, walked away and proven to yourself that you didn’t care.
But instead, you smirked.
“Obviously.”
Rafe’s eyes gleamed with something sharp and amused, and before you had time to overthink, he took your drink from your hand, setting it aside. Then, his fingers brushed against yours, his hand trailing up to your wrist before curling gently around it.
“Come on,” he murmured, tugging you toward the crowd.
You barely had time to process before he pulled you straight into the middle of the patio which had turned into a makeshift dance floor. People were already pressed together, moving to the beat, lost in the music and the warmth of the night. The moment you were in the crowd, Rafe’s hands found your waist, pulling you closer until your bodies were nearly flush.
It was dizzying—how easily he did this. Like he didn’t have to think twice about it, like it was the most natural thing in the world. And maybe it should’ve been weird, the way his grip on you tightened, the way your hands found his shoulders without hesitation. But it wasn’t.
It felt… easy.
“You sure about this?” he asked, his lips close to your ear, his voice low enough that it sent a shiver down your spine.
You nodded, fingers tightening slightly against the fabric of his shirt. “Go big or go home, right?”
Rafe chuckled, his breath warm against your skin. “That’s the spirit.”
And then, he moved.
The bass pulsed beneath your feet as you followed his lead, letting yourself sink into the rhythm. Rafe’s hands didn’t leave your waist, and when he guided you, it wasn’t hesitant—it was confident, smooth, like he knew exactly what he was doing. The distance between you shrank, and before long, there wasn’t any left at all.
You weren’t sure how much time passed before you felt a familiar gaze burning into you. You didn’t even have to look to know Alex was watching.
But you looked anyway.
And there he was, standing near the bar, his expression dark as his eyes locked onto the two of you. His jaw was clenched, his hand gripping the cup in his hand a little too tightly. The girl next to him was still talking, oblivious, but Alex wasn’t paying attention to her anymore.
A small, victorious smirk tugged at your lips.
And as if he could sense the shift, Rafe leaned down slightly, his voice just above a whisper. “Is he looking?”
You glanced up at him, ignoring the way your stomach flipped at the proximity. “Oh yeah.”
Rafe hummed, amused. “Good.”
Then, without warning, he dipped his head lower, brushing his nose against your temple before pressing a slow, lingering kiss just below your ear.
It was barely anything—a light, teasing touch. But it sent a jolt through you, your fingers instinctively tightening on his shoulders. You felt his lips curve into a smirk before he pulled back, and when you caught your breath and turned toward Alex again, you could practically see the irritation simmering beneath his carefully blank expression.
Rafe chuckled, clearly pleased with himself. “I think that did the trick.”
You exhaled, still a little breathless. “Yeah,” you muttered. “I think it did.”
After the song ended, you and Rafe finally pulled apart, and you made your way back to your friends, grabbing a drink on the way.
Brooke, Mia, and Paige wasted no time swarming you.
Brooke smirked. “So…what exactly is going on with you two?”
Mia leaned in, eyes narrowed. “Because that didn’t look fake to me.”
Paige sipped her drink, grinning. “Yeah, babe. That was convincing.”
You simply raised an eyebrow, smirking as you took a sip. “Wasn’t it?
Brooke gave you a look. “You’re having fun with this, aren’t you?
You smirked, shrugging. “Maybe.”
Mia gasped dramatically. “Oh my God. You like this.”
You rolled your eyes, setting your drink down. “It’s just a bit of fun.”
Brooke exchanged glances with the other girls before shaking her head. “Mm-hmm. We’ll see about that.”
You just laughed, shaking off their knowing stares.
Because right now, you were just having fun.
Later that night, after the party had died down and people had started to trickle out, you found yourself sitting on the front steps of Kelce’s house, nursing a fresh drink. Rafe was next to you, arms draped lazily over his knees as he stared out at the dark sky.
Neither of you had acknowledged what had happened inside. There was no need to.
Instead, Rafe took a sip of his beer before speaking. “You know… we could keep this up.”
You glanced at him. “What?”
“This,” he said, gesturing vaguely between you. “It works. You get what you want, I get Amelia off my back… everybody wins.”
You hesitated, chewing on your bottom lip. It was tempting—too tempting. It had felt good tonight, knowing you had gotten under Alex’s skin. And if you were being honest with yourself, it had also felt… nice, being close to Rafe.
But still. “And what happens if people actually start thinking we’re together?”
Rafe shrugged. “Then let ‘em.” He smirked. “Unless you think you’d get too attached.”
You rolled your eyes, shoving his shoulder. “Shut up.”
But despite your teasing, despite the sarcasm, you both knew the answer.
This wasn’t just a one-time thing anymore.
It was a routine now.
And something told you it wasn’t going to stay just a game for long.

I hope your evening is better than your day was. ✨💫
In reference to me haggardly saying in the tags that after the day I’d had, everything (horrible things with legs) that my loved ones (you guys) were doing to heal me (send me horrible things with legs) was a help. And it was. And you are.
It was a tough old month already. But it’s all swings-and-roundabouts, snakes-and-ladders, win-some-lose-some, 🫴🫳.
I sleep about 9 hours in 48 at the moment, which is not especially great, owing to the Wretchedness of Mouse (2), a largely nocturnal animal. But then when Mouse is awake at Mouse o’Clock and quietly pottering around on Mouse Business, there isn’t much I can usefully do, so I’m just curled up with Dr Glass’s tablet, peacefully drawing Killie the jockey OC. As a result I’ve realised something massive for me, that my creativity is THERE, but fuelled by self-indulgence! Like, with stuff like fanfic projects and Killie, there was always a lot of “mental braking” on before, with me anticipating (based on evidence experience of posting my writing online for mumblety-many years) how much people would dislike it - put the brakes on, Elodie, we can’t let the haters know that we yearn. But hey, I started rambling on about fics and my own OCs, and YES it’s probably startling and annoying for some people and I do apologise, but ALSO you’ve all been very kind, and I think that it’s better for me to have the brakes off. 4 am takes notwithstanding, it’s better to have the brakes off. So what if I’m cringe and occasionally annoying - I have paid my dues and done my duties.
The new shed at the allotment blew down, but we have been forgiven for our carelessness in allowing it to happen, and two people on the committee have approached me with kindness - one committee member even stopping me in a shop to tell me, “people want to help you, Elodie, we’re your friends, you know.” Citation needed, but there you go.
Saturdays are always made especially for me dreadful by taking children to swimming lessons, on foot both ways, but usually we walk on to meet friends for coffee after. I go out with my friends and play board games with our neighbours and have learned how to play Wingspan.
Dr Glass received an official diagnosis of ME, but I bought a robot vacuum in the strength of that - saying, well, why assume things will ever get easier? Let’s get easy now! - and actually I really like having a robot vacuum!!
There have been more causes than I could help with, but my promotion has strengthened the coffers, so this month I’ve been able to donate to a few!
Due to childcare falling through, I had to take all three kids to an antifash protest in the cold and was dreading it - the walking, the whining, is it going to be awkward, i trust the organisers but HE’S not bringing his kids, GOD. But then my neighbour and her giant puppy came with us! on purpose! And we knew a lot of people there and the kids played.
I had to buy some clothes for work, and I never buy anything new (never having money) and was scared I’d get it wrong (stupid and weird) but I buckled up and bought these: https://www.disturbia.co.uk/products/rosamoth-button-up-midi-skirt https://www.disturbia.co.uk/products/swamplife-frog-embroidered-linen-blend-high-waist-midaxi-skirt
And it sounds bonkers, but the amount of people at work, etc, who have come up and instantly allied themselves with me on the strength of Frog Skirt / Moth Skirt has strengthened my convictions. Strongly recommend Frog Skirt / Moth Skirt and their emotional equivalents if you hit a stage of career where you need to suddenly level up.
I am thinking about counterweights. And kindness. And the balance of the turning world. And the light in the sky coming back. And, unfortunately, Killie, but he’s a counterweight too; sure, he’s awful, but we already know he contains the seeds of becoming okay.
As evidence suggests that many things do.
Thank you for your shining kindness, and my love back to you 💫

LADS Caleb x pervert!reader
Tw: just reader being perverted and gross, reader is going through it, reader being nasty, weird thoughts, horny thoughts, tension
Thinking about a pervert!reader. Being a high schooler and entering a new stage in life where your hormones goes rampant, making you more aware of the opposite gender. It doesn't help how you're currently living with someone so handsome, caring, kind... and so... manly.
Wait- you shouldn't think about your childhood friend like that!
You didn't know when it started. It just happened one morning when you came to the kitchen to eat breakfast, his back seems broader than usual, his tank top showing off his big juicy biceps, and his tall frame-
"Oh, you're awake pipsqueak? Why are you standing there?"
His voice snap you out of your thoughts, shaking your head to rid of them before settling down on the chair. Trying to act normal and totally not conscious of him, you grumble how cold it was in the morning.
Caleb's eyes swept over your form appraisingly, a flicker of something unreadable sparking in their purple depths as they lingered perhaps a moment too long. He leaned back against the kitchen counter, muscled arms crossed over his broad chest, the fabric of his tank top stretching taut against his biceps.
Damn...
Something in your demeanor struck Caleb as... different. A faint blush colored your cheeks, and you seemed to avoid his gaze. He quirked an eyebrow, a playful smirk tugging at the corner of his mouth.
"Cold, huh? Well, why don't ya come over here and let me warm ya up then, short stack," he teased, reaching out to ruffle your hair affectionately—though his touch lingered perhaps a heartbeat longer than usual.
Why does his hand feel bigger than usual? Or were they always that big?
Thinking about a pervert!reader. Staring at the toothbrush innocently sitting in the cup along with her own. The blue toothbrush and her pink one beside each other, just like those married couple have. The blue toothbrush that had been inside Caleb's mouth. The blue toothbrush that soaks up his saliva mixing with toothpaste.
Caleb's saliva...
I wonder how it taste like?
Your mind snapped as you stare at the blue toothbrush in your hand, your subconscious already grabbed the toothbrush now currently sitting in your hand.
It wouldn't hurt to try, right?
Nervously gulping, you opened your mouth ready to use his toothbrush not until, the person you're currently crazy about walks in, making you freeze on the spot.
"Hey, did you see where I put my notebook? Huh? Is that my toothbrush?"
Heart pounding, you quickly switch the toothbrushes, your face burning with embarrassment as you turn to face Caleb. You try to keep your voice steady, but it comes out in a panicked squeak.
"N-no, of course not! I mean, I was just… I got confused and grabbed your toothbrush by mistake." You let out a nervous, slightly manic laugh. "You know how much of a ditz I can be in the mornings!"
You turn away, hiding your flushed face from sight as you begin scrubbing your teeth with fervor, hoping Caleb didn't notice the way your hands shook slightly.
He raised an eyebrow, "Ok? So, have you seen my notebook?"
Pausing your toothbrushing to glare at Caleb's reflection in the mirror, you huff in annoyance, "No! I didn't see your stupid notebook."
That was close...
Thinking about a pervert!reader, being extra moody and defensive when you're around him. Totally not because you're starting to see him as a man. Totally not because you're starting to realize how attractive he is.
Starting to feel guilty about imagining some inappropriate thoughts just be staring at him. It would be just a normal hangouts with him, eating popsicle stick with him. Your eyes darting at the way he licks the popsicle, his adam's apple bopping down.
"What's up?"
You froze as you realized Caleb had caught you staring.
"N-no, it's nothing!" you stammered, tearing your gaze away. you could feel the heat rising in your skin.
You fidgeted in your seat, suddenly hyperaware of every little detail—the way his tongue flicked out to catch a drip of melting ice, the flex of his broad shoulders as he raised the treat to his lips once more.
Why is he doing that?!
"It's just... it's cold in here, that's all," you avoided his probing gaze, staring down at the half-eaten popsicle stick in your own hand. You swallowed hard past the lump forming in your throat, your heart hammering against your ribs.
Why am I always having those thoughts? I don't wanna be a creep!
Caleb's eyes narrowed slightly as he studied your face, not entirely convinced by your flimsy excuse. The blush staining your cheeks and the way you couldn't quite meet his gaze spoke volumes.
Thinking about a self-aware!caleb, who knows the effect he has on you. His hidden smirk every time he knows what you're thinking about.
Caleb sits across from you, his expression unreadable, eyes shadowed by something you can’t quite place. You tell yourself it’s just your imagination, that the way his gaze lingers is nothing more than coincidence. That the way he angles his body ever so slightly toward you isn’t deliberate.
You shift in your seat, trying to ignore the warmth creeping up your neck. It’s ridiculous, really, how easily he manages to throw you off balance. The way his voice lingers in your mind even after the conversation has ended. The way his presence alone feels like an invisible tether, pulling your attention back to him no matter how hard you try to resist.
But he doesn’t say anything. He doesn’t do anything.
Just sits there. Watching.
You convince yourself he doesn’t notice the way your eyes flicker to his lips when he speaks, the way you fidget under his gaze. You tell yourself he isn’t aware of how your pulse betrays you when he leans in just a fraction too close.
But then, just for a split second, there it is. A barely, there shift in his expression, a flicker of amusement, gone before you can catch it.
You don’t notice the smirk he hides behind his next words. You don’t realize that every stolen glance, every shaky breath, every fleeting moment of hesitation and he’s seen it all. And worse?
He knows exactly what it means.
And he's enjoying it.

Isekai’d as the Demon King’s Therapist
Tumblr media
Chapter 1: I Was Just Getting Coffee, and Now I’m a Therapist for a Demon King?!
Synopsis: One minute, I’m fighting a vending machine for coffee. The next, I’m the therapist for Zarvath, the Demon King who’s one bad day away from obliterating the realm. His mental health’s a mess, and I’ve got nothing but my psych degree and questionable life choices to fix it. No pressure, right?
Tumblr media
It all started with a vending machine.
Not some magical, glowing vending machine that dispensed ancient relics or cursed snacks. Nope. This was the regular, broken vending machine in the breakroom at work, the one that seemed to have a personal vendetta against me.
I just wanted a cup of coffee. One measly coffee to help me survive another session with a client who swore Mercury in retrograde was the reason her life was falling apart. I was dangerously low on caffeine, and without it, I was one minor inconvenience away from shouting at inanimate objects like she did.
But the vending machine had other plans.
It ate my dollar. Then, just for fun, it ate my life.
I gave it a light smack. Nothing violent. I’m not a monster. Just a small “I’m watching you” kind of tap.
That’s when the vending machine decided to electrocute me.
There was a bright flash of light, a weird sound like a thousand cats sneezing at once, and then….nothing.
Tumblr media
When I opened my eyes, I was in a throne room.
I lay flat on a cold, black floor, staring up at a ceiling covered in glowing runes and what I really, really hoped were fake skulls. Around me were creatures straight out of a heavy metal album cover, demons with horns, glowing eyes, and questionable fashion choices.
In front of me sat a seven-foot-tall demon with glowing red eyes and a crown made of actual fire. He was lounging on a massive black throne, sipping something from a skull-shaped goblet like this was just another Tuesday.
He raised an eyebrow. “You’re the one?”
The one what?!
I sat up slowly, still trying to process the fact that I was very much not in my office anymore. My first thought? Hallucination. Second thought? Maybe I’m dead, and this is some weird afterlife punishment for all the times I lied about liking kale.
“Answer me, mortal!” the demon barked. “Are you the legendary mind healer we summoned?”
Legendary mind healer? Was he talking about a therapist? Did I just get isekai’d to be a demon king’s therapist?!
“Uh… yeah. Sure. That’s me,” I said, adopting the time-honored strategy of when in doubt, agree.
The demon who I later learned was Zarvath, the Demon King of Darkness leaned forward, his eyes glowing brighter. “Excellent. My armies may be unstoppable, but my mental health is… fragile.”
Oh. My. God.
One of the demons, a nervous little imp cleared his throat. “Lord Zarvath, we were supposed to summon the most powerful mind healer in all the realms. Are you sure we got the right one?”
Zarvath frowned. “Do you doubt my summoning rituals?”
The imp shook his head so fast I thought it might fly off. “N-no, of course not! But… they don’t look very powerful.”
Rude. I may not look like much, but I’ve survived family holiday dinners, passive-aggressive coworker emails, and clients who believe crystals can cure broken bones. I’m tougher than I look.
“I may not have magic,” I said, crossing my arms, “but I’ve got a master’s degree in psychology and plenty of experience dealing with difficult people. You want therapy? I’m your person.”
Zarvath tilted his head. “Master’s degree? In… psychology?”
“Yeah. It’s a degree that qualifies me to help people process their emotions, manage stress, and develop healthier coping mechanisms.”
Zarvath narrowed his eyes. “So… it’s a form of magic?”
“Not exactly. It’s more like… mental training. But instead of using spells, I help you talk through your feelings and reframe your negative thoughts.”
Zarvath crossed his arms. “Sounds like sorcery to me.”
The imp leaned closer to Zarvath, whispering loudly enough for me to hear, “Master, perhaps it’s some kind of mind enchantment?”
“It’s not enchantment! It’s cognitive behavioral therapy!” I said. “There’s science behind it!”
Zarvath nodded slowly, stroking his chin. “Hmph. Whatever it is, if it can stop me from obliterating the next hero I meet just because they irritate me, I’m willing to try.”
He leaned back on his throne, considering me carefully. “Very well. Prove your worth.”
And that’s how I found myself sitting on a demon-sized couch, preparing to give my first therapy session to the Demon King of Darkness.
I wasn’t sure how I got here, or how I was supposed to survive in this world… but one thing was clear: this Demon King needed serious help. And if I played my cards right, I might just live long enough to give it to him.
