life pro tip: buy miniature cookware. it saves space and a lot of mini appliances come with little recipe books as well. if it's too small to cook a filling meal in one go, simply prep your ingredients so you can make more servings more quickly. i.e. mini waffle maker makes too-tiny waffles?? you will have excess batter just make more. tiny skillet makes too-small portions?? set your chicken and spices or whatever you have aside and make more servings. plus your next serving is freshly cooked oooo. mini baking stuff?? make another batch babyyyy that's half of baking anyway
*DISCLAIMER: this user keeps buying mini cookware because its cute and is also currently fantasizing about living independently and is Coping. life pro tip may not be effective for all readers.

Cursed House
Chapter 2 Seeing.
(A week later)
Tina was heading into town with a list of groceries in her hand. Her mother asked her to go out into town and get some food for the house as they were running out. As she was walking she bumped into someone, she looked up and saw that it was Alex.
"Oh hey Alex how are you doing?" Tina asked.
"I'm doing fine, I just came out to do some clothes shopping with my friends." Alex explained.
"Oh okay, I'm just out getting some food. My mom would've done this, but she and my dad are busy setting up the new house." Tina explained.
"Ah I understand that place is really big so you all might be busy with that for a while." Alex explained.
"Yeah... I'm still surprised they got it at such a cheap price." Tina explained.
"Well for as long as I've been living here you'd know why it's so cheap." Alex said.
"Why's that?" Tina asked curiously what he meant.
"It's because anyone who moved into that house resold it a few months after." Tina heard a girl say from behind Alex. Just then two girls emerged from behind Alex.
One of them was as tall as Alex but an inch taller. She had long blond hair that was dyed light blue half way up at the ends. She was wearing a light blue tank top and a blue plad colored long skirt. She had a few bags in her arms and was wearing cyan sunglasses as it was pretty bright outside today.
The other girl was a bit shorter than Alex; she went up to the halfway point of his chest. She had a cute baby face, had a bit of weight on her, but in a cute small girl way her hair was cut into a small bob, and it was brown with a bit of pink dyed at the bottom. She was wearing magenta overalls that flowed down into a skirt at the bottom. She was also wearing a pink shirt underneath and rose colored shoes. She too was wearing sunglasses but they were pink and the lenses were heart shaped.
"Hello I'm Tambrey and this little pink girl here is my friend Anissa." Tambrey explained.
"Oh hello I'm Tina it's nice to meet you both." Tina explained.
"It's nice to meet you as well Tina! I was hoping we'd meet you soon! Before your family ended up moving away like all the other families who ever lived in that house." Anissa explained sadly.
"Wow wow back up! What are you talking about? Why would my family move out of the house we just bought?" Tina asked.
"It's better for us to explain in a more private place, like the park. Why don't we help you out with your shopping and we can talk about your house's history with some ice cream." Tambrey explained.
"Um... okay I'm not getting much anyway, just some cheap microwavable foods till my parents have the money for proper ingredients for meals." Tina explained.
"Understandable, moving to a whole new town isn't cheap, it's pretty expensive, I should know my mom works in that kind of field with families moving." Anissa explained.
"Okay well thanks for offering to help." Tina said as she, Alex, Tambrey, and Anissa all went into the store.
Tina went into the frozen meals section and grabbed easy ready made meals that both she and her parents would eat. Alex meanwhile grabbed some fruits so Tina and her family could have some proper healthy things to eat. Anissa got some sweets that she saw were on sale, she thought that Tina and her parents would like to have some sweets, and she also wanted some herself. Tambrey meanwhile was just browsing through some items in the store, till she noticed something that piqued her interest.
"Hey guys, come over here I found something I think you all will like!" Tambrey called out.
The others all came over to where they heard Tambrey and saw her standing next to a pride stand that was selling different pride flags and badges.
"Ohh! I love pride!! Do they have any Polysexual flags or badges?" Anissa asked.
"Yeah and hey they have some transgender ones for me." Tambrey said.
"I don't know, I'm just hoping they have one for me." Alex said.
Tina went up to the stand and looked around for a badge for her, but she didn't want them to see the badge she would pick up. Tina saw Alex picking up a badge and a flag that represented gender fluid. He put the badge on and smiled with it on. Tina just looked back at the counter and soon she found what she was looking for.
A non-binary badge she smiled as Tina was non-binary, she or they never always felt like they were a full girl or even a boy. So they looked around the internet for answers on why they felt that way and they found non-binary.
After that Tina understood themselves much better, while they did like she/her pronouns they/them were their preferred pronouns. However they still didn't come out to their parents yet as Tina was scared of how they would react towards their gender identity so they kept quiet.
"Hey Tina you good?" Alex asked.
"Um... yeah I'm fine." Tina excused.
"Okay well let's wrap this up and head out for ice cream!" Anissa exclaimed excitedly.
Once they were done with their shopping the four went up to the counter to pay for their items. As they were paying Tina looked around and saw a woman, a child, and a man standing around some pudding samples.
"Mommy, what kind of pudding did Daddy like?" The child asked.
Tina was confused by this as they could see the possible father standing right behind the child. So they wondered why the child was asking his mother and not his father.
"Oh sweetie your father always liked the chestnut pudding, whenever we had it both him and your uncle would fight over the last one left hehe, it was so funny." The woman said.
"Hehe yeah I remember that, oh how I wish I could relive those days again." The man said.
Tina then noticed a gold and white glowing aura around the man as he smiled down on the child and the woman. He then went up to the two of them and embraced them in a hug as they grabbed some chestnut pudding.
"Hey Tina you good?" Alex asked.
"Huh?? Oh Yeah I'm good just noticed a strange aura around the father of that family over there." Tina explained.
Alex looked over to where Tina was pointing and his face turned to confusion as all he saw was the mother and child but no father.
"Tina, what are you talking about? It's just the mother and kid. I don't see any father." Alex explained.
Tina looked back and the man was now looking at her with a shocked look on his face. He then walked, or floated up to her and made direct eye contact with her.
"Can you see me?" The man then asked, sounding shocked.
Tine not knowing what to do just nodded giving the man his answer. He smiled as no one else could see aside from Tina apparently. The mother and child then started walking away so the man followed them, but not before waving goodbye to Tina. Tina just lightly waved back before going back to the counter to pay for her items.
(Later)
Tina and her new friends were sitting in the park with icecreams in their hands. Tina was looking around for any other stage looking people. Thankfully Tina didn't see anyone with strange auras around her and she's kinda glad as what happened in the store freaked her out.
"So What were you all talking about earlier related to my family's new home?" Tina asked.
"Well whenever any family moved into that house, they would say that strange things would happen to them inside. Later on they would move out and wouldn't tell anyone why they were leaving." Tambrey explained.
"That's very odd." Tina said.
"Yeah some folks around here even started betting on who would stay forever or if they would once again move out." Anissa explained.
"Hm well knowing my parents they wont leave this new home that easily." Tina explained.
"Well only time will tell... hey I gotta go now my mom is going to need me home soon to care for the house as her and dad are going out." Alex explained.
"Okay I need to head home too, I'm working on a bit of a summer project." Tambrey explained.
"Same here but I just want to go home to take a nap." Anissa said.
"I just need to help out with more unpacking and organizing the house." Tina said.
"Well I guess we'll all see each other around, later guys." Alex said before getting up and heading home with his ice cream.
The other girls all said their farewells and headed back home. As Tina walked home they started noticing other people with strange gold and white auras around them. However no one else seemed to be able to see them but them which made them kinda scared.
"Ahh young child, looks like you're the new girl who moved into town, am I correct?" Tina heard a calm old voice say.
They looked over and saw an old woman in strange clothing sitting in a tiny shop, with a crystal ball on the counter in front of her.
"Um yes that's me who are you?" Tina asked curiously.
"I'm Azula and I'm the psychic in town, if you want I can read you your future and see if you have any special abilities." Azula explained.
"Hmm sure why not I've got nothing better to do aside from unpacking." Tina said as they sat down and gave Azula her hand.
"Now child, let's see what your future holds... hmm I see you'll make wonderful friends here, Oh and what's this? Your third eye has fully awaken and from what I can see, you're now able to see ghosts like me, oh how wonderful!" Azula exclaimed, happy for Tina.
'So is that why I've been seeing people with strange auras around them? Their ghosts, that would explain what happened back at the store.' Tina thought to themselves.
"Now let's see what else the future holds for you." Azula said as she read Tina's palm again.
As she did her face turned from curiosity and excitement to seemingly dread and fear. When Tina saw that they got concerned and scared as to what Azula was seeing.
"Oh dear that's not good, oh no my dear you're in very grave danger!" Azula exclaimed with worry.
"Why am I in danger?" Tina asked about concern.
"It's *cough* I-it's *Cough- Cough*" Azula started coughing violently.
It got so bad that she started sputtering up blood which horrified Tina and anyone else who saw it.
"SOMEONE CALL AN AMBULANCE!" A person in the crowd screams in a panic.
Tina meanwhile didn't know what to do as Azula started coughing more and more blood came out as she did so.
"Miss I need you to step aside, I'm a doctor so let me help until the ambulance arrives!" A man said.
Tina did what he said and got up to let him take care of Azula till an ambulance could arrive at the scene. After five minutes an ambulance arrived and Azula was loaded onto it. Tina, horrified by what just happened, decided to head straight home and not get distracted by anyone or anything else.
(Later)
Tina arrived home and when they went in they were greeted by their parents. They were still a bit shaken by what happened in town but hid it pretty well.
"Hey Tina you were out for a while, is everything alright?" Angelico asked.
"Yeah, just meet some of the kids in the neighborhood." Tina explained.
"Well isn't that wonderful! Hey Tina we have some boxes that we need you to take upstairs to the attic think you can do that?" Angelica asked.
"Sure I'll just leave the groceries here for you and dad to take care of while I deal with the box's." Tina said as she put the bags down and took off to take care of the box's.
However Tina made sure to take the non-binary badge with them so their parents won't become suspicious. Once Tina was upstairs they saw the box's their parents were telling them about.
"*sigh* Let's get this over with." Tina said as they started collecting the box's and bringing them up to the attic.
When Tina got up to the attic with the first box they couldn't help but feel like someone was watching them. They shrugged and placed the box's in the old dusty attic that was filled with cobwebs. Tina looked around and found a clearing that was enough for the box's.
The attic had many old items in it, some of them were rather normal items from the olden days when their grandma was a child and some rather strange items. Tina placed the box down and went back down to continue getting more and more box's. After a while they were done with the task they were about to go down stairs and to their room when a book caught their attention.
They saw a book that said maledicta et carmina on its front cover, Tina was a bit confused by the title as they couldn't understand what it meant.
"Strange, I wonder what language it is?" Tina asked as they took the book and blew some dust off it.
"Hmm, maybe one of my old friends knows what it is." Tina said to themselves.
They went down the ladder and back to their room, not even noticing the dark looming figure watching them from the shadows.
(Later that night)
Tina was in their room looking through the internet on their laptop when they heard their mom calling out for them.
"Tina dear, I need you to take out the trash for me real quick!" Angelica called out.
"Okay mom, be there in a sec!" Tina called out.
They then went down stairs and saw the trash their mother wanted them to take outside.
"Hey Dear you'd like any of the frozen dinners you brought home?" Angelico asked.
"No thanks dad, I'm not hungry right now, maybe later." Tina replied.
"Okay if you change your mind just go one and take one." Angelico said as he took one of the dinners and heated it up.
Tina just smiled before going back to a neutral look and heading out to take the trash out. Tina picked up the bag before heading out the door and going to the trash can outside near the sidewalk. It was rather dark out and there was no one on the streets. Tina walked up to the old trashcan and threw the bag in and placed the lid right back on the can.
When they looked up they were horrified by what they saw standing in front of them. Standing right infront of Tina was a large ghost with a black and blue aura around it. It had a deformed face with no eyes, its mouth wide open revealing it barely had any teeth that were black and yellow.
It leaned down to Tina and asked in a ghastly haunting voice "Can you see me?"
Tina, terrified by the ghost, decided to pretend she couldn't see it and act normal as they felt like something bad would happen if it knew they could see it. So with a straight face Tina turned around and walked back to her house. The ghost then left upon seeing this disappointed thinking that Tina couldn't see it.
When Tina got back inside they let out a sigh of relief as they now felt safe now. They started wondering why the spirit had that aura around them when all the other ghosts they saw had nicer holy auras around them.
"Tina, are you alright you look spooked?" Angelica asked, worried about her child.
"Y-yeah I'm fine it's just dark outside right now and I thought I saw something." Tina lied.
"Okay well as long as you're alright that's all that matters." Angelica said before resuming what she was doing.
Tina sighed and went back upstairs to her room to change into their pajamas like they always do at 9 Pm. When Tina got to their room they once again saw the same blanket from the previous night laying on their bed once again.
"What the? Why is this here again?" Tina asked themselves.
Just then Tina then heard a ghostly voice of a young frail boy say "It'll protect you from him for now during the night."
Tina turned around and saw a ghostly boy with the same aura as the one she saw outside. This one looked like a young boy no older than eleven years old, he was looking down avoiding eye contact with them.
The boy was wearing what looked to be old fashion clothing, similar to what her grandmother would have worn when she was a child, possibly even older. The boy looked very skinny and frail as he hadn't eaten anything for a long time, their was also a hole in his chest where his heart was meant to be. Along with that Tina noticed that his entire right leg was sliced off and black ghostly blood was dripping from it.
Tina, scared again, just pretended that they didn't see it and turned back to her bed, only to be met with another ghost. This time it was a tall man who also wore old fashioned clothes.
However Tina noticed that there was a rope tied around the man's neck and his fingers were bloody and raw like he tried to get something off. The ghost then leaned down to Tina's height and they were able to see its lifeless eyes.
It then said "Leave now! We know you can see us so, unless you want your soul to be cursed and be trapped here with us. We won't allow him to have his final sacrifice and accomplish his evil goals, so get out NOW!"
The ghost then left the room leaving Tina alone with the ghost boy and now terrified for her safety.
"Don't worry about him, he won't hurt you. Like me he's been trapped here for a long time, but he is right, the big scary man will use you as his last sacrifice and you'll end up being trapped here like the rest of us. It'll be better off if you and your family all leave not just this house but this town all together. It's all cursed by him!" The ghost boy said before he left as well.
Once they were gone Tina collapsed to the ground with fear coursing through their veins. They could feel their heart racing as they didn't know what the ghosts meant but they felt like it wasn't good in the slightest. Tina however managed to compose themselves and started changing into their black summertime pajamas with ghosts decorating the cloth.
Once they were done changing Tina went into the bathroom to brush their teeth and wash their face. However she was cautious while going through the house as the two encounters with the ghosts scared the daylight out of them.
When they got to the bathroom door they were cautious when opening it. However they wanted to finish their nightly routine before going back to their room to watch something and go to bed. So Tina just swiftly opened the door and turned on the bathroom light. When they did they didn't see anyone in the bathroom much to their relief.
Tina sighed before going into the bathroom and finishing their nightly routine. Tina first started brushing their teeth so they got out her black electric toothbrush that had ghosts decorating it as well. They then got some toothpaste out, put it on the toothbrush and began brushing their teeth.
After they were done they raised their mouth and tooth brush off before starting to wash their face. As they were washing their faces Tina couldn't help but feel like there was someone behind them.
So when they looked up to see if there was someone behind them they were horrified to see a girl with long black hair standing behind them. The girl had the same ghostly aura as the previous two did and she looked like she was totally soaked in water.
"Please leave, if you stay he'll kill you, his spirit still remains in these walls, there's only so much we can do for you but for your own sake leave now!" The ghost girl said with worry in her voice before leaving the bathroom.
Tina was once again terrified but confused by what they meant, however they just hurried up and finished washing their faces before leaving the bathroom. Tina went back to their bedroom and laid down on their bed before getting their laptop out and scrolling through videos to watch.
Tina soon came across a horror film and was about to click on it, however thinking about the current encounters they had with the ghosts they decided to play an action movie. Tina then scrolled again till they came across what they wanted and started watching the movie.
However what the ghosts said to them was very confusing and they couldn't help but wonder what they meant by what they were talking about.

Lock and Key | Bakugou K.
Summary: It all started out as a harmless prank - Denki’s idea, to get the two of you to talk. It was no secret that you had feelings for Bakugou Katsuki, at least, not amongst your friends. Denki had meant well, sure, when he’d handcuffed the two of you together, but when the key goes missing... well, let’s just say, it’s gonna be a long 24 hours.
Pairings: Bakugou Katsuki x reader
Warning(s): Swearing, that should be it
Notes: Reminder that my requests are open! Let me know what you’d like to see on my page! Hope you enjoy this cute little fic for Bakugou :) I just wanted to write something soft and lighthearted, and cute, so this is that.
Tumblr media
You were going to kill Denki. That is, if Bakugou didn’t get to him first.
“Calm down, Bakubro! Murdering one of our classmates would not be very manly of you!”
And if it wasn’t for Kirishima, holding Bakugou back with all of his strength and giving you a sympathetic look as you were dragged along, Denki would’ve been toast. Literally.
“Look, man, I’m sorry!” Denki was saying, hiding behind Mina and Sero, “It’s just a prank, dude, a joke! Don’t kill me!”
“I’m gonna end you, spark plug!” Bakugou growled, “Get over here and get this shit off of me!”
Sero, barely holding back his laughter, said, “Aw, come on, Bakugou, I wouldn’t call y/n ‘shit’!”
For a moment, Bakugou blinks like he’s stunned, but then his murderous glare returns ten fold. “That’s... That’s not even what I meant, dunce face! I meant the handcuffs! Get. Them. OFF!”
You know, from the look Mina is sending you, that you’re blushing.
“Okay!” Kaminari scrambles out from behind the two, smiling sheepishly as he searches all his pockets, “No worries, man, let me just... let me... get the... key...”
Bakugou finally settles down, and you breathe a sigh of relief as he drops his hand, yours falling with it. You rub at your wrist lightly, eyebrows drawn together. You’d been handcuffed to Bakugou for almost ten minutes now, and your wrist was already sore from being yanked around so much.
“What’s taking so long, dunce face?” Bakugou grumbles.
“Well, you see, uhm... okay, listen, don’t be... don’t be mad, bro, just...” Kaminari laughs, eyes wide in fear, voice dropping so low you could hardly hear him, “I can’t exactly find it.”
You yelp in surprise as Bakugou activates his quirk, feeling the heat against the back of your hand.
“What did you say?!”
Everyone winces as he yells, face almost as red as Kirishima’s hair.
“Careful, dude, don’t burn her!” Kirishima says, hand on Bakugou’s shoulder.
Bakugou shoves him off, but listens to him nonetheless, and the heat subsides.
“It’s okay, Kiri, I’m fine.” You tell him quietly.
“Y/n, I’m so sorry,” Denki says, guiltily.
“Yeah, you’re about to be real sorry.” Bakugou says, “If you don’t get these off in the next five seconds!”
“Look, let’s just calm down for a minute, okay?” You say, stepping between the two. You feel Bakugou’s arm tug back against yours, as you move farther away from him, and your blush deepens. “Sorry. Anyway... why don’t we just see if Momo can make an extra key? Right?"
“That’s a good idea!” Kirishima says, optimistically. “See? Everything’s fine.”
“Yeah, why didn’t I think of that?” Kaminari scratches his head.
“Because you’re an idiot.” Bakugou mutters darkly.
Mina purses her lips, shifting back and forth on the balls of her feet. “Yeah, that would be great... Except Momo is visiting her parents, and won’t be back till later tonight.”
And just like that, Bakugou explodes again. “WHAT?!”
...
After a stressful call with Momo, involving Bakugou taking the phone from Mina not once, but twice, and telling her to ‘get her and her stupid ass ponytail back to UA NOW!’, it’s finally decided that you’ll just have to wait it out. Even Bakugou can’t say he’d rather go to Aizawa, because explaining this meant explaining the handprint shaped burns in Denki’s door.
Of course, Momo promises to help as soon as she’s back, but that’s still hours and hours away.
Bakugou, who still practically had steam coming out of his ears, sat beside you on the couch silently. Across from you, the rest of the group watched in sympathy (and fear). No one dared to break the silence, in fear he’d blow up on them again. You couldn’t say you blamed them.
“Come on.” Bakugou’s sudden command startles you.
“What? Where are we going?” You ask, following his lead and standing up (you were getting dragged along, either way).
He rolls his eyes, sighing, “I don’t know, but I’m not just gonna sit around like an idiot all day.”
He doesn’t wait for your response, marching out of the room. You look over your shoulder on your way out, a silent cry for help, and Denki has the audacity to give you a thumbs up and wink. You glare at him, sending your friends into a laughing fit.
“What are they laughing at?” Bakugou mutters, brow raised.
You flush in embarrassment, shrugging. “Dunno.”
The two of you eventually end up in the kitchen. You knew Bakugou could cook, everyone did because he regularly kicked everyone out of the kitchen so he could, but you’d never actually seen him in action. He was much calmer now that the two of you were alone, but the scowl never left his face.
After a few minutes of awkwardly trailing behind him as he gathered ingredients, you mustered up the courage to ask, “Can I help?”
He doesn’t answer for a moment, and you begin to think he’ll just ignore you, before he’s handing you a spoon. “You stir while I chop vegetables. I don’t trust you with a knife.”
Ignoring the backhanded comment, you take the spoon from him, happy he’s letting you help. You stir with one hand, resting the other on the counter beside him, so he can use both hands to chop the vegetables. It’s not easy, trying to cook while handcuffed to the angry blonde, but the two of you eventually find a rhythm.
“So what are you making?” You ask, turning to look at him. His focus is all on what he’s doing, and he looks so serious you try your best not to giggle. Does Bakugou ever just... relax? Still, the way his lower lip just barely juts out and his brow furrows, when he concentrates hard, is really cute.
“We’re making zosui.”
You’re heart does a little flip as he says ‘we’. He doesn’t mean anything by it, you know that, but you still have to turn away in an attempt to hide your smile. As mad as you were at Denki, you had to admit that being able to actually spend time with Bakugou doing something so... normal, domestic? It was nice. You’d spent an embarrassing amount of time daydreaming about a moment like this (except, in your daydreams, you weren’t handcuffed, and maybe there was kissing involved), but you’d never thought it would actually happen. The only time you got to spend time with him outside of class, normally, was if you asked for help with the homework or agreed to spar. But that was rare, these days. Bakugou normally sparred with Kirishima, anyway, and you always felt like a bother when you asked for help.
Sneaking another look at Bakugou, you find he’s already looking at you. He takes the spoon from you, gently bumping his hip into yours to move you out of the way, and you watch as he adds the veggies to the soup. As he stirs them in, he asks you to hand him the spices he’d set out beforehand.
“What, have you never seen someone cook before?” He asks.
You laugh sheepishly, “I ate a lot of microwave dinners growing up.”
The look he gives you is incredulous, borderline angry, and he scoffs. “You’re kidding. That shits terrible for you!”
You laugh, wrinkling your nose.
He meets your eyes for a moment, lips parted slightly, and you raise a brow at him. Before you can ask, his attentions is back on the soup, and he’s quiet again.
It doesn’t take long for the soup to be done, then, after he adds the rice. And you have to admit, even though you hadn’t helped much, you do feel a sense of accomplishment when you sit down to eat a meal that you made yourself.
The two of you sit down beside each other, forced to scoot your chairs so close that your thighs are almost touching. Surprisingly, he doesn’t complain.
“Thank you,” You say quietly, before digging in. “Wow! This is delicious!”
“Yeah, yeah, whatever,” He rolls his eyes, but you recognize the slightly smug look on his face. “You helped.”
You giggle, bumping shoulders with him. “Sure, but you’re the chef, here!”
He hid it behind another bite of food, but you could have sworn you saw him smile, too.
The two of you finish your meal in silence, Bakugou waiting with surprising patience for you to finish eating, before putting the bowls in the sink.
“Thanks.”
He gives you a look, “For what?”
For being so nice.
“For teaching me how to cook!”
He shrugs, muttering out ‘whatever’ in reply.
“So... what do you want to do know?” You ask, hoping his tolerance for your company would last.
You end up back in his dorm, awkwardly huddled together at the head of his bed. He was reading, as you mindlessly scrolled through your phone. The silence wasn’t awkward, like you’d thought it would be. It was comfortable, almost calming. You found yourself getting tired, the more you sat there.
Eventually growing bored of your phone, you turned to see what Bakugou was reading, and started reading the pages yourself. You didn’t think he’d noticed, until he slipped his finger behind the next page to turn it, and paused.
“You done?” He said, quiet and soft, his cheeks tinted the slightest pink.
Your eyes widened, blushing, “Uh, yeah. S-Sorry.”
He turned the page without another word, looking at you from the corner of his eye. You tried to ignore him, pretending to read, before he sighed.
And then, Bakugou began to read to you.
“W-What are you doing?”
He stopped, narrowing his eyes. “Reading, dumbass.” He snapped. “You read slower than me, it’s annoying.”
Despite the backhanded remark, you grinned. “Oh. Okay.”
He started again, sounding significantly less irritated, and you tried to slow the beating of your heart. In all the times you’d imagined hanging out with Bakugou, you had never thought of something this sweet. You especially hadn’t anticipated his voice ever being this soft, and calming.
As he read to you, you shifted closer, eventually resting your head on his shoulder. He faltered for a minute, hiding his fumble with a cough, but otherwise didn’t acknowledge it. It wasn’t until he reached the end of the next chapter that he realized you’d fallen asleep.
And he definitely wasn’t blushing, no, not Bakugou.
Hours later, when Momo and all your friends piled into his room, he whispered harshly, “Wake her up, and I’ll kill you!”
Maybe Denki’s plan had worked out, after all.

― mukbang youtuber!nishimura riki x gn!reader
riki's at it again, and by it, i mean microwaving foods.
genre: humor, fluff, established relationship
wc: 1.2k
warnings: cw food/eating
part of my youtuber enhypen series, the 2nd upload! feel free to read on its own~ ♞──────────────────────────♞
"y/n! i'm warning you, i'm going live!" riki shouts from the living room.
"alright! i'll stay here, let me know when you're done!" his s/o replies in the same volume.
"okay!"
this was a frequent occurrence: you come over to riki's place, the two of you hang out, he needs to film something for an hour or so, you give him space, he finishes, and the two of you cuddle after. while some of your friends question your boyfriend and your lifestyle with him, you really wouldn't have it any other way. 2 and a half years of dating riki, you've been through it all together, so there's no push for a something different or more.
"okay... let's wait for a while, yeah?" riki directs to his audience, watching the chat feed slowly increase in comments. when it seems like enough people have shown up, a smile breaks out on his face. "hey everyone, it's me again!
"you probably already read the title, but yea, imma do it." he points the camera down to the array of strawberry items that will soon be put in the microwave. "i don't know how people eat cold strawberries—they have no flavor to them!"
you scoff to yourself when he says that, shaking the digital trees on your island for fruits to sell.
"try one to see if you like it?" riki reads out loud. "eyyy, if i don't like it, i don't, but i'll prove it to you anyway if there's anyone new watching."
true to his word, the cold strawberry goes right into his mouth, and he makes a face, the camera picking it up. you don't need to watch the live to know that your boyfriend's nose is all scrunched up right now, making you giggle at the thought of it in the next room.
"now that you know," he continues, holding up a plate of strawberries. "i'll be microwaving these now."
the microwave opens and shuts before making its beeping noises as riki presses the numbers and heats them up for a couple of seconds. when they're ready, he's quick to get them out and show them to the camera before enjoying the taste of the warm strawberries.
"mm!" you roll your eyes at the sound of his satisfaction. his dog bisco has made its way into the room and plops next to your side, you gladly petting the curly fur at some points.
after a couple minutes, it seems riki has finished the warm strawberries, because he's moving onto the next item: tanghulu-style strawberries.
"you all said that you wanted me to eat this, and since it's already—" he takes this moment to tap the crystal sugary shell. "like this, i guess i'll just dive right in."
the sounds of delightful crunching can be heard, not unnoticed by bisco, whose head tilts at the eating sounds. you chuckle lightly, scratching its head and making the dog lay its head back down.
"ohh, i know why you all wanted me to eat this," riki acknowledges. "it's like asmr, okay, okay."
he lowers his voice and starts speaking like the asmr videos he's seen with you. "i think i'll microwave it just to taste," he whispers into the mic.
with that, the same microwave sounds of beeps and doors are repeated. "oh shoot, the sugar is making it stick to the plate," riki comments with a laugh, making you snort quietly. "i'll just..." he trails off, using a fork to free the sugary treat from the plate before plopping it into its mouth.
"oh! i like this better too! sorry, no crunching sounds for you," he laughs at the disappointed comments who wanted to hear the satisfying crunch of the tanghulu. "alright, next up... strawberry jam!"
instead of the usual glass jar it resides in, riki lifts up several small packages taken from food places as condiments. "i didn't wanna buy a whole jar—the tanghulu was expensive for no reason! plus, these are free, what can go wrong with free things?" a lot, apparently.
as by routine, he lifts up the wrap of the packaging and punches the back of it to immediately taste the jam. "hmm... it's alright, i guess."
riki lifts his head to read a comment. "huh? what's wrong with taking it straight like that? you know, jay hyung does worse, right?"
you giggle to yourself at the mention of one of his youtuber hyungs as you continue multitasking and listening.
"oh yeah, that reminds me. he did a video with his s/o, it was soo funny!" the youtuber laughs. "poor hyung, he said the manuca honey was so bad, he didn't want to eat honey for a week! go check out his channel after this and watch the video.~
"well, jay hyung needs to thank me for his free promo or whatever. it's time to microwave this noww," riki continues. it's going like normal: the microwave door opening and closing, the beeps of setting the time. but then it isn't. after a couple of seconds of heating, some loud pops are heard, and riki is shouting and laughing at the same time.
you and bisco shoot up and immediately rush to the scene. "riki! what is going on?!"
he turns around with a sheepish smile just as the microwave beeps to signal its end. pointing at the microwave, you notice the stains of strawberry jam on the door and groan out. you walk towards the kitchen and open one of the cabinets to take out the cleaning supplies, failing to notice that you had walked in front of the camera.
the comments go crazy with questions, and riki realizes he hadn't turned off his live, connecting the dots. he's quick to pull you into the frame with a beaming smile on his face. "well, this isn't the best way to go about it, but since you accidentally revealed yourself, i guess i'll say it: this is my s/o y/n, everyone!"
you blink owlishly, clutching the clorox wipes close to your chest with riki's arm around your shoulder. "huh?" you ask before the lightbulb in your head goes off. "ohhh! oh my gosh, hi?!"
you and riki had talked about the subject of your reveal before, but the how was always the reason you had never done it. with the accident, you guess this was the how now. you're laughing with riki at the whole situation as the comments flood with how cute the two of you are together. "riki! we need to clean the microwave before your parents come back," you playfully scold.
"oh right," he agrees before turning back to the camera. "well, two-in-one, everyone: strawberry mukbang goes wrong and my s/o revealed! see you next time!"
the two of you wave to the camera as the audience wishes you farewell and riki finally shuts off the live.
"you're a mess," you tease him, getting an eye roll in response.
"yeah, yeah, let's just clean up, okay?"
"how does this even happen? what physics is this?" you wonder aloud, opening the microwave to start cleaning.
"huh, maybe i have jake hyung's next idea for a video."
a/n: i wrote this in 20 minutes how 😀 i hope you all enjoyed this it's been a while since i wrote for riki hehe but i still judge him for warm strawberries LOL

My hands pressed to your cheeks

    Charlie smiles, watching the sunlight dance on Y/N’s face, almost like little splashes of golden paint. She hums to whatever song is playing through her earphones, a faint smile teasing the corners of her lips. Her eyes are closed, and Charlie marvels at how peaceful and serene she looks. Her h/c hair surrounds her head like a halo, and he is tempted to reach forward and press a kiss to her temple.
  He doesn’t do that, of course. Instead, he gets up from his couch and joins Y/N on the floor, lying beside her. Her eyelashes flutter at his movement and quaint, kind e/c eyes hold his stare, eyebrows raised in question.
  “I thought you said that you were too mighty for the floor.” She teases, biting her lower lip to hide a smile. Charlie almost melts at that.
  “I never said that. Is everything okay up there?” He points his index finger at her head.
  The young woman of nineteen laughs mockingly. “Why, afraid you’re rubbing off your crazy on me?”
  Charlie rolls his eyes, and shifts closer to her, their arms touching slightly – and even that slight touch makes him feels butterflies in his stomach. It’s not uncommon, of course. Ever since he realized that he is indeed in love with her, anything that she does gives him butterflies. He doesn’t mind, of course – but he hates the fact that he is unable to tell her what effect she has on him. So, he resorts to ignoring or suppressing everything he feels for his little sister’s best friend instead.
  She pulls out an ear pod from her left ear and shoves it into Charlie’s ear. Eastside. She’s had this song on repeat, ever since she came to visit him in Vancouver, where he’s filming for the first season of Julie and The Phantoms.
  “I love this song. Reminds me of my first boyfriend. Remember him?” She says, softly.
  “Aaron. How could I forget? You begged me to cover for you at home so you could hang out with him.” He says, smiling softly at the memory. They were so young, Y/N just fourteen, and him sixteen. He remembers Y/N sitting beside him on the couch while he was watching a movie, all flushed and bothered, eyes continuously flitting to Charlie. He remembers saying, “I know you’re dying to tell me something.”
  She had nodded, looking around the Gillespies’ living room where they were currently seated in, apprehensively. “Promise me you won’t tell anyone.”
  He had jutted out his pinky finger and wrapped it around hers. “Never.”
  “I think I really, really, super-duper like Aaron.”
  “Aaron as in your next-door neighbor?”
  “Yep.”
  Charlie had smirked. “He’s such a dork. I can’t believe that you like him.”
  “Shut up, Char. He’s the sweetest.”
  He chuckled. “His hobby is taking pictures of trees… if that doesn’t scream ‘dork’, then I don’t know what does.”
  She had glared at him while Megan had entered the room, plopping down on the couch beside Charlie. “What’s up?”
  “I’m telling him about Aaron, and he thinks that he’s a dork.”
  Megan shrugged. “What’s wrong with that? He’s really cute. Also, he was asking about you today.”
  “Really?” Y/N’s eyes brightened. Charlie laughed, shaking his head. “You girls are weird. But I approve. He’s a nice kid.”
  “I wasn’t looking for your approval?”
  “Yes, you were.”
  The girls had rolled their eyes at him and he had wrapped his arms around the two.
  Y/N’s voice brings him back to the present. “Simple times.”
  Charlie faces her. “Everyone after him were horrible.”
  She narrows her eyes at the boy beside her. “No, you were just too overprotective.”
  “Nope. They were all horrible.”
  They weren’t. Charlie just hated anyone who showed an interest in Y/N. At first, he thought that it was probably because he had literally watched her grow up. But a couple of months later, when he watched her kiss Levitt from the swim team, he had felt a smoldering rage rise in his stomach, along with his heart clenching. That day, he had realized that maybe there was more to it than watching her grow up. A couple more months later, on his eighteenth birthday, when she had kissed him on his cheek and handed him a present wrapped in shiny, blue paper, he had felt butterflies in his stomach. He also could feel the ghost of her delicate lips against his skin for days after, like the remnants of a fire brushing against his cheek.
  When he unwrapped the present, he found a vintage, hardbound copy of his favorite book, Les Misérables, along with a note, saying: ‘I might’ve read your journal. Only the part about how much you loved hardcovers and the part about how much you hated the fact that no bookstores nearby sold it. Well, I also might’ve read the part about how frustrated you are with microwave timers. I feel you, dude. But, yeah, remember when I said that I was going to visit my sister in Montoc? I lied, LOL. I went to a vintage bookstore in Fredericton. I’m sorry for lying, but ‘twas for a good reason, huh? Hope you like this. Also, you’re my second favorite person, after Meg. Happy 18th, Charles. Love, Y/N.’
  That moment he had realized that he was completely, utterly, truly, madly, deeply in love with his little sister’s best friend.
  It’s been about three years since that, and he still hasn’t told her how he feels.
  Now, Y/N looks at him, and rolls her eyes. “Sheesh.”
  She props herself on her elbow. “When are we going out today?”
  “Jeremy said that he made a reservation at 6. So, we’ll leave half an hour earlier.”
  “Okay. Is Owen going with us?”
  “Yeah. I don’t trust him to drive in Canada.”
  She grins. “He’s cool.”
  “Maybe sometimes.”
  “Savannah and Madi are the coolest, though.”
  “Definitely, yeah.”
  “You never told me that you had a cute roomie, though.”
  “Yeah – wait what?”
  Y/N flashes him a teasing smile and pushes herself upward with the palm of her hands. She brushes off her yoga pants and extends an arm to Charlie who is currently panicking inside.
  “Do you like Owen?”
  “What if I do?”
  Charlie must have looked as horrified as he had felt because she laughs and says, “I’m just messing with you.”
  “Thank god.”
***
  “Finally!” Y/N yells, kicking off her black, leather heels, which land near Charlie’s feet. He laughs, kicking them to the side.
  “You’re so dramatic.”
  “I dare you to wear heels like that for a day. See how you feel.”
  Owen pipes from behind them, closing the door to their apartment. “Oh, I did. My friend Dani made me wear them for a video. It was the most painful day of my life.”
  “See!” Y/N high fives his roommate as Charlie scrunches up his face. “How’d she find heels in your size, dude?”
  He laughs, and extends an arm toward the other two, who hand him their coats, muttering ‘thank you’ individually. He walks inside, yelling, “I’m fucking tired. Going to sleep.”
  “Don’t forget to check the stove!” Charlie yells back, hearing his roommate affirm his request.
  It’s just the two of them standing in the foyer now, and Charlie can’t stop staring at her. She’s wearing this beautiful red dress that compliments her skin perfectly, clinging to her body in all the right places – he had himself gifted her this dress on her nineteenth birthday. (Not really. His mother had picked the dress.)
  She hasn’t noticed him staring, though.
  “Ugh, I can’t wait to get out of this dress.” She walks inside.
  Charlie pauses and purses his lips, trying to stop himself from picturing him doing it. He breathes out raggedly and follows her inside – trying (and failing) to shove that mental picture away.
  Reaching the living room, he falls back onto the couch, which has been his bed for the past few days that Y/N has been here. She had protested, of course. But she already has so much trouble sleeping – she’s had it ever since she was a child.
  Y/N hadn’t had the best childhood. Charlie faintly remembers his mom pulling him and his sister into the kitchen one day when Y/N left their house after spending the whole day there.
  “Mom? What happened to Y/N?” Megan had asked, childlike innocence dripping off her tone.
  Charlie had nodded, saying, “How’d she fall down the stairs? That bruise looked nasty.”
  Their mother had sighed, and Charlie still remembers the pain in her eyes. “Honey. I want you to listen carefully, okay? And not tell anyone. You two think you can do that?”
  They nodded enthusiastically.
  “There are good people in this world – like Y/N. But there are also bad people, people who hurt the good people. And sometimes, sometimes, your parents can also be bad people.”
  “That’s not true!” Megan had protested, their mother smiling.
  “Maybe not for you. I hope so. But Y/N’s parents – they aren’t the best people, okay? They…uh… I’m not going to excuse their actions. They, uh, hurt Y/N.”
  “So, they pushed her down the stairs?” Charlie asked, his eyes widened. He could not understand how the people that loved you the most could do that to you, especially to someone like Y/N. He’s known her his entire life, ever since the Y/L/Ns moved next door when he was still in diapers.
  “I don’t know. Something happened. She was too shaken up to talk about it.”
  “But – but – she’s the best person ever! Why would her mom and dad do that to her?” Megan had protested, eyes welling with tears at the thought of her best friend getting hurt.
  “I don’t know, honey. I wish I did, I really do.” Their mother paused for a long moment. “I want you two to always be nice to her, alright? No matter what happens. Because, right now, she feels alone. I can see it in her eyes – she’s scared, confused, lonely. I know you two love her so much, and I want you guys to make sure that she knows it, okay? Make sure that she never feels lonely, all right? Make sure that she’s always safe and comfortable, as long as she’s with us, you.”
  They had nodded, their hearts welling up with love for their friend.
  After their mother hugged the two of them, Charlie’s twelve-year-old sister had run off to the other room, to call her best friend and tell her just how much she loves her.
  Charlie had lingered in the kitchen, too sad over what he’d just been told.
  “Maman?”
  “Yes, honey?”
  “Can’t we just keep her for ourselves?”
  “If we could, we would. I would like nothing more. But that’s absolutely not legal, mon chéri.”
  “Oh. That’s unfair.”
  His mother had flashed him a sad smile. He had taken both of his hands in his, and said sincerely, “I promise you, maman. I’m always gonna protect her. No matter what.”
  His mother had pressed a kiss into his tousled hair and whispered, “I expect nothing less.”
  It’s been more than seven years since, but Charlie still does everything in his power to make sure that she is always safe and happy.
  “Hey, Char?” Her voice brings him back from his childhood.
  “Yeah?”
  “That couch doesn’t look comfortable.” She shrugged one shoulder.
  “It is! I promise you.” He lied. It definitely wasn’t comfortable. The blinding pain in his neck is proof of that.
  “Don’t lie to me. Come on, sleep in your bed.”
  He shook his head.
  “You’re not gonna sleep on the couch, Y/N. Seriously. You’re right, it’s too uncomfortable.”
  “I wasn’t gonna. We’ll sleep together. That came out wrong. I mean, we can both sleep in the same bed, we’re both adults.”
  Charlie wanted to protest, but the hopeless romantic in him drowned all objections.
  “We’ll put pillows between us, okay? And it’s not like we haven’t slept in the same bed before. Remember my seventeenth? We were so drunk that we thought that the bed was a magnet, and we were screws.” She continued, looking away.
  Charlie smiled up at her, remembering the feeling he had the next morning when he had woken up to find Y/N curled up into him, her head tucked into the crook of his neck. “All right. If it’s okay with you.”
  She nods, walking into his bedroom, with Charlie following close behind. Both them wordlessly change and freshen up in the bathroom, and Charlie falls face first in his bed.
  “Oh. My. God.”
  Y/N laughs, sitting at the corner of his bed. “Knew it.”
  Charlie grins at her, feeling absolutely euphoric, especially with the buzz from all the drinks he’s had tonight still lingering in his head like a tattoo kiss. She slides under the covers, burrowing her face into the soft pillows. “I can’t function anymore. Bye.”
  He laughs softly, squeezing her shoulder, to which she softly smiles. He slides under the cover, resting on his side to face her, or rather a mess of h/c hair and soft, rhythmic breaths. He closes his eyes, switching off the light, but he knows that he will not be getting much sleep tonight, especially with the fuzzy citrus scent of her perfume everywhere and the heat from her body consuming him.
***
  It’s 1:20 AM and Charlie can’t sleep. Turns out that being in the same bed with the girl he’s been in love with since he was eighteen is a very, very bad idea. He’s put as much space between them as possible, yet he still feels vigilant and hot. His mind is betraying him: all he can think about is how beautiful she looks when the moonlight streaming through his window is casting shadows on her face, or how she’s sometimes saying things (really, really weird things, though – Charlie doesn’t understand anything), how much she looks like a little cat while she’s snuggled into the covers, or how she flails her arms while she’s asleep.
  He considers crashing in Owen’s room for the night. But as soon as Y/N starts moving around, still sleeping, he holds that thought and watches her instead.
  He can see her getting agitated, as she tosses and turns. She continues murmuring something, but it’s still all jumbled, and it hits Charlie.
  He props himself on his elbow and leans close to her face. “Y/N. Hey. Come back to me. Y/N. Honey. You’re safe. You’re safe.”
  She gasps, as consciousness floods in her system. She looks confused for a second, and Charlie sits up, right beside her. “Listen to me. You’re safe. I’m here. It’s okay. You’re okay. Everything is okay.”
  She exhales, eyes closing for a second.
  “Are you okay?” Charlie asks when her breathing has turned cadenced.
  Her eyes widen and lips part. “I’m so sorry.”
  “You don’t ever need to apologize for that. Are you okay?”
  “Yeah. Yeah. I just – ever since I left home, I’ve been getting these nightmares.” She says, softly. Charlie lays next to her, turning to face her, while she mirrors his actions.
  “What do you see?” He asks.
  “Mostly my childhood. You know, my dad pushing me down the stairs. Or my mother telling me that I’m a horrible person and no one will ever love me, and she should have aborted me. Or my dad breaking the mirror the one time I got a B in math. Or my parents fighting. Or – you know, just a montage of my parents’ greatest hits.”
  She breathes out shakily.
  “Getting away didn’t stop the nightmares, huh?” He asks, resting a hand on her warm cheek.
  She scoots closer. “No. They still text me sometimes, mostly to remind me that I’m a terrible person and that I’m gonna go to hell for walking out on them and not going to Harvard.”
  “Y/N, don’t you dare –”
  “No. I’m happier than I’ve ever been. Walking out was the best decision that I’ve ever made.”
  He smiles softly at her.
  “You and Megan… god, you two saved my life. I would never have had the courage to get this far if it wasn’t for you guys.”
  “No, honey. It was all you. You’re the strongest person we know.”
  “Shush. Let me compliment you in peace. You guys are the best thing that’s ever happened to me, you know.”
  She smiles, reaching forward to tangle run her hands through Charlie’s hair. They were dangerously close now: Charlie could see the curve of her nose, the lingering red lipstick color on her lips and count the number of eyelashes she has.
  “You’re the best thing that’s happened to us, too.”
  Charlie can feel something in the space between them, something pulling them close. It is cold outside, but here, in the cocoon they’ve created, he feels warm and at home.
  “Like, thank you so much for pushing me to get into law school. Now, I’m learning how to help millions of little girls who are going through what I went through, and it makes everything worth it. I feel like I don’t say this enough, but Charlie. Thank you for everything.”
  He smiles, trying to retort something funny but her proximity has jumbled his mind.
  “I know you’re really busy with your life, but thanks for still thinking of me sometimes.”
  That breaks Charlie out of his daze. “What?”
  “You know. You’re in a Netflix show, working with Kenny freaking Ortega and all these incredible people – and I’m enormously proud of you, by the way – and… well, you’ll soon not have that much time for your little sister’s best friend, you know?”
  “You’re not just my little sister’s best friend, Y/N.”
  “Yeah, I’m your friend, alright. But soon you’ll be meeting celebrities and models and actors and then you wouldn’t have time for me anymore.”
  Charlie furrows his brows. “Where is this coming from, Y/N?”
  “I just had a lot of time to think today.” She turns on her back, facing the ceiling.
  He hates the fact that she is so unpredictable: he never knows what’s going on in her head or what she is feeling. That’s one of the reasons that he’s kept his feelings for her a secret for almost three years.
  “I saw you with that model today. At the bar. Uh. So, I thought that you’re probably gonna meet a lot of them in LA. Models and Hollywood girls and all that. So, you’ll probably not have any time for me anymore.”
  Charlie shakes his head, recalling the model he was talking to earlier today. Or rather, yesterday. Carol. She was really nice, sweet, and beautiful – and definitely interested in Charlie. But his focus had been on Y/N, who was having a dance off with Owen and Savannah, all evening – or rather, all the time. He had tried to focus on the Carol, he really did – but after an hour, she herself realized that he wasn’t into her and whispered a ‘good luck with her’ to him before leaving to go back to her friends.
  “Y/N, that’s not true –”
  “It’s okay, Charlie. It’s good. Your life shouldn’t be stuck in the same place. It should be getting better, and you should be meeting new people, you know? You’ve been alone for a weirdly long time and it’s freaking your mom out. So, I know you’re gonna fall in love with someone and then you’ll be too busy –”
  “God, Y/N, how are you so fucking oblivious?” Charlie snaps, annoyance coursing through his veins.
  Her eyes widen at his harsh tone of voice, and it shocks Charlie, too. He’s never, ever raised his voice at her.
  “What?”
  Maybe it’s having her so incredibly close that causes him to finally snap. “Y/N, I have been in love with you ever since I was eighteen. You’re the only person that I want, and you’re the reason that I’ve been alone for a weirdly long time.”
  He immediately regrets saying that. Y/N is sitting up, and she is looking around everywhere, trying to avert Charlie’s eyes. He hides his face behind his hands, sinking deeper into the covers and trying to create a hole and fall down to the center of the earth.
  “I think you’ve had too much to drink today.”
  He groans into his hands, glad that he’s under the covers and the girl can’t see his absolutely scarlet face. “Oh, for god’s sake. Dude. I wrote you an entire ballad when I was nineteen because I realized that this is exactly what’s gonna happen – that I’m always gonna be in love with you, and you’re always gonna think of me as your best friend’s older brother.”
  He feels the covers shift above his head, and is greeted with Y/N’s face, a vulnerable look in her eyes. “Do you really mean it?”
  “Of course, I do. You’re my family – do you really think that I’m gonna joke about something like this and ruin our friendship? The only reason I’m even telling you this is because I’m incredibly frustrated that you’re so oblivious and you’re so fucking pretty. And so close. See, this is exactly why I wanted to sleep on the couch. Because I knew that I would lose it.”
  There’s a sudden flurry of movement and her lips are on his’, and they’re kissing, kissing, kissing. Charlie is too shocked to do anything at first but as soon as the warmth courses through his system and the butterflies go wild in his gut, he pulls her closer, rising up. She sits in his lap, straddling him, their hands getting lost in each other’s hairs – both of them trying to be closer, closer, closer to make up for all the lost years and to keep feeling the contentment that they feel from just being close to each other. She tastes like Charlie’s mint toothpaste and his dreams – like everything he’s ever wanted.
  As they separate for air, Y/N rests her forehead on his. “I thought you knew.”
  “What?” He’s surprised to find his voice hoarse.
  “That I’m in love with you.”
  He can’t stop the grin on his face from escaping. “What?”
  “I thought Meg told you. Or your mum. Or anyone really. Everyone’s called me out on it. I’ve always had a crush on you but dating all those guys in high school made me realize that I was kind of, you know, in love with you.”
  “Why didn’t you tell me?”
  “Same reason as you. You’re my family, Charlie. I didn’t wanna lose what we have just because of… you know.”
  Y/N slides off his lap and lies on the bed, next to him and he mirrors her actions, and she rests her head on his chest, the frantic beating in his chest her background music. He drapes an arm around her shoulders, desperate to have her close.
  “We’re both cowards, eh?”
  She giggles.
  “Wait. Meg knew?”
  “Of course. She’s my best friend.”
  “You know, one day I got drunk and told her that ‘I’m 100% attracted to your best friend sexually and emotionally and everythingally.’ I kept wondering why she was laughing.”
  “I hate her.” She buries her face in Charlie’s chest, giggling.
  Charlie laughs and pulls her in for another kiss, desperate to hold her again, to feel the high he only feels around her. She smiles against his lips, before a thought occurs to him. “Wait. You were jealous of the bar girl, weren’t you?”
  “Shut up, you dork.”
  They’re only half aware of the snowstorm raging outside from the warm cocoon they’ve created in each other’s arms. Maybe miracles really do exist.

Hi! Today I saw a newborn baby and it got me thinking so maybe a Ron and hermione’s POV of them watching Harry and Ginny interact with newborn James Sirius, like maybe a dinner at the burrow and James being a month old or something like that , if you don’t want to though it’s fine! Don’t worry, las ve your fics btw
thank you anon, really, I had a shitty day, and writing about James Sirius being pampered by his parents, made me smile again <3
i hope you liked it :)
Harry looked happy, very happy, Ron thought. He thought he never saw him as happy as Harry seemed when he held little James in his arms, sleeping peacefully after being fed by Ginny, his small hands clinging to his father's shirt.
He looked tired too, very tired, and Ginny looked even more so, they both had dark circles under their eyes, messy hair like someone who hasn't taken a real shower in a few days, and wrinkled clothes. They looked exhausted.
But still, when Ginny passed James Sirius to Harry to lull and put him to sleep, he looked radiant.
James had been born less than a month ago, Ron and Hermione had taken turns to help the two manage the house, make food, and still take care of a baby, so they always stopped by twice a week, checking to see if friends didn't need anything. Also, to see their godson, who Ron thought was the cutest and most beautiful baby he had ever seen.
The boy had fluffy, pink cheeks, a tuft of brown hair that looked like a beautiful mix between Ginny and Harry's hair - but it was still quite dark and messy, and Molly said the boy would look like Harry when he grew up - and the most adorable hands and feet that Ron ever thought he saw. Chubby and cute, that smelled like a baby and made him embarrassingly in love, making him kiss the soles of his feet, or ''hide'' behind his little hands, just to make James let out that giggle that was also the most adorable thing.
And when Ron looked at Harry cradling James, he thought his friend felt everything he felt, but elevated to the tenth power.
The guy looked ridiculously in love with James, a twinkle in his eye that Ron had never seen Harry have, even when he married Ginny. It was different, a completely different joy that everyone seemed to notice when they went to visit the two.
Ginny also looked very happy, of course, but Ron was a little swayed by Harry's happiness.
Molly had said it was as if James was able to turn a key on Harry that would trigger a side of him that no one had ever seen. As if that little baby, less than a month old, was able to finally make Harry look like the 25-year-old man he was, and not that frowning man who always seemed to be waiting for the worst to happen. Harry even started crying and showing feelings in front of everyone, without even looking embarrassed.
He looked almost stupid, crying like an idiot after James was born, showing his son on his lap through the nursery glass. Everyone was there, watching Harry smile like a fool and wipe away the tears that never seemed to end, waiting to pick up his son again.
'How are you doing?' He asked, after storing the food he had brought in the fridge and cupboards, organizing the kitchen and living room a little, going back to their room soon after, finding Harry still cradling James and Ginny in a different outfit from the pajamas from before. A tired smile on her face.
'Good, thanks for helping us.' She hugged him. Ginny had also become much more loving, she was always giving hugs and saying 'I love you' to the brothers when they left. 'James has been sleeping more now, still with us, but it’s too cold and he is never covered at night and would probably freeze if he slept alone.'
‘Still waking up every hour?’ Ron accompanied her out of the room as Harry prepared to place his son in his crib.
'He's been taking a break, waking up every three hours.' Ginny laughed, sounding exhausted, but still looking happy. 'Yesterday was the first night that he woke up only twice, which I am very grateful for.'
'Mione and I can take care of him in the afternoon for you and Harry to sleep.' Ron offered, again.
‘You don’t really need to, we’re holding up well.’ And again, Ginny denied, sitting on the island stool and eating the chicken salad that Ron had brought her. ‘Thank you, again, for helping us.’
'I thought you would like to eat real food.' He smiled. 'Harry told me that you don't even have time to cook.'
'Yes, James likes attention.' Harry walked into the kitchen, his old shirt wrinkled and his son's cloth over his shoulder, sitting next to Ginny and attacking his chicken salad, looking almost as hungry as Ginny. ‘I left some ready-made frozen foods, but I’m still trying to understand how the microwave works.’
'You should just apply a heat spell to food,' Ron debated, pouring juice for both of them. 'Mione sent to ask if you need an ... uh... ointment for your breasts. She said that because of the winter, your skin may be very dry.' He tried not to blush, but Ginny didn't even seem to mind the question, denying it and filling her mouth with salad.
'Harry bought it for me, but tell her that I appreciate the concern.'
'How are things at the office?' Harry asked, looking genuinely curious. Ron wondered if, one day, he would quit work to stay home with his kids, or being active was something Harry needed to feel useful. While he seemed happy to have won that time to be with his son, he also seemed happy that Ron was there to talk about what was going on at work.
'Boring as always.' Ron shrugged, laughing with Harry. 'Robards are in a very bad mood without you there, I think he is a little lost. And Joe finally called that guy from the Department of Transportation.’
'Oooh! Finally! Nobody put up with that sexual tension that surrounded them whenever he came to our office.’ Ron agreed. 'I think that maybe I should come back next week, just part time.'
'I miss you there, it's kind of lonely without having my mate to pretend I'm working when we're actually doing anything but that.' The two laughed, but again, Ron saw that look on Harry's face where he seemed torn between go back to work or stay with his child at home. ‘When do you start training again?’
'Only two months from now.' Ginny sighed. 'Gwenog said she can't take me back until at least three months of recovery.' She smiled, looking a little sad. ‘But doesn’t it look too soon? James will only be three months old and he won't have his parents around… We are still deciding how we will do it.' Harry nodded, his mouth full of juice.
'You will know what to do,' Ron said, smiling at both of them. 'You two look happy, even with sleep deprivation.'
'James brought a life to the house, even Teddy felt it, he came here over the weekend and he looked a lot happier, even when Harry said they couldn't fly.' Ginny smiled.
A few years later, when Ron held Rose for the first time as well and also cried like a fool, he would understand what Ginny was trying to say. For now, he just thought it was adorable as his sister and his best friend looked happy.
The war was over a few years ago, Ron thought that if there was anyone who deserved to be happy, it was Harry. And it was even better that it made Ginny happy too.
'Let me know if you need help, or a moment alone.' Ron raised his eyebrows maliciously, smiling at the two who laughed and looked at each other, seeming to be talking silently.
'Thank you mate, but I think the thing I most want to do in bed now, is to sleep.'

Lock the Door
a/n: college!Harry one shot because why the f not??????? I’ve wanted to write a good college!Harry au for aw while, and I’m happy with this. 11K of friends to lovers. (not proofread)
Warnings: Smut.
Tumblr media
It was junior year of college, Y/N and her friends were thrilled to finally be out of the dorms. Even though they were still living on campus, they were in a student apartment, and incredibly thankful. Now instead of sharing a bathroom with hundreds of other people, there would only be four of them. The only thing was Y/N’s parents weren’t thrilled about the people she was rooming with.
There was her best friend, Liv, who her parents actually really liked. It was the other two roommates that made them feel uneasy. See, Liv really wanted to live with her boyfriend Chris, but they didn’t want to exactly live by themselves, and the student apartments for just two people were really expensive. They’d been dating since second semester their freshman year so it wasn’t weird that they wanted to be in closer proximity. Y/N also thought Chris was an amazing person. He and Liv never made her feel like a third wheel, it was an ideal situation. The three would have been fine to live together, but the university had certain policies in place. One guy was not allowed to live with two girls, they needed another guy. That’s when the topic of Harry came up.
//
“I know he’s not your favorite of my friends, but the other people he was supposed to live with are going off campus, which he can’t afford to do.”
“It’s not that he’s not my favorite, I just don’t know him that well.” Y/N shrugged. “If that’s the case, I think Liv and I should share a room…”
“Yeah, that works. Chris and I don’t wanna be on top of each other all the time, we’re just sick of going across campus all the time.” Liv says. “So, you’d really be okay with Harry living with us? You’ve said before you don’t really care for his lifestyle…”
“He’s just not the first person I would hang out with, but if it means we get this apartment, then I’m cool with it. We’ll get to know each other better if we live together, right?”
//
When Y/N broke the news to her parents they got into a big fight with her about it, but she assured them that a lot of other students did what she and her friends were doing. Living with boys really wasn’t that big of a deal. If anything it would give her practice for when she someday actually got a boyfriend that she would eventually move in with.
The four of them got coffee together the morning they had to have the housing application in. Harry didn’t say much, clearly not a morning person, but he seemed alright with the situation. He and Chris were good enough friends, and he was also excited to not be in a dorm next year.
“I just have one request.” Y/N says. “A lot of the apartments usually have one room that’s bigger than the other, from what I’ve noticed. I’d like for Liv and I to have the bigger room. Chris, I’ve seen your dorm, you literally have like nothing in there. Liv and I have a ton clothes and other things that we’ll space for…”
Chris and Harry look at each other and shrug.
“Alright, that’s not problem.” Chris says. “We should make a group text so over the summer we can see who’s bringing what. We need to figure out dishes and other kitchen shit.”
“And we’ll still need a mini fridge for extra shit, one of my friends was tellin’ me there’s not much room in the apartment fridges. I can bring the one I have.”
“I have a microwave.” Y/N says. “Happy to bring that too.”
“We’ll also need a chore chart.” Liv says. “Just because Y/N and I will be the women of the house does not mean we’ll be the maids. I am not going to be on my hands and knees cleaning the bathroom all the time. We should also pool in money for toilet paper and stuff like that.”
“Good idea, babe.” Chris kisses her cheek and Harry rolls his eyes.
That was is right there, the attitude that turned Y/N’s stomach. She thought Chris and Liv were a really cute couple, their affection didn’t bother her at all, but Harry seemed overly annoyed. All it was, was a peck on the cheek.
//
You all wished each other a good summer when the time came. The four of you group texted off and on best you could to make sure there was little miscommunication about who was to bring what. Since Harry was an international student, he would be moving in a week before everyone else. Y/N was actually happy about this because he would be there to help her move in. She’d be coming up the night before move in to get a good parking spot, and then her parents would come the next day with the rest of her things.
For the first time, she texted Harry outside the group chat when she arrived at her apartment. He opened the door for her only wearing a pair of shorts. Her eyes grew wide, and he notices.
“Sorry, it’s hotter than satin’s asshole in here, I hope you brought a fan for yourself.” He rubs the back of his neck, and you laugh.
“I did. That’s the worst thing, no A/C in these old apartment. At least it’s only hot like this for a couple of weeks, right?” He hums his response as she walks in. “To be honest I was expecting a mess…but it looks good in here.”
“Not much to make a mess with.” He shrugs. “I rearranged some of the furniture in the living area so it was less tight next to the kitchen. Got the TV set up too.”
“I can see that, it looks nice.” You smile.
“So…do you like need some help with your shit?”
“That would be great, actually. The microwave is pretty heavy.”
“Thank god you brought it with you. I’ve been dying for some popcorn.”
“Great, you can stink it right up.”
“Relax, I was kidding.” He rolls his eyes. “Take a joke, Y/N.”
Her mouth falls open as he walks out to her car. He opens the trunk and hoists the microwave out while she grabs her luggage bags that were full of clothes.
“I can bring that up for you. It’s an up and up, so Chris and I are on that level, and you and Liv will be up top. That was the bigger room just like you requested.”
“Thanks, I appreciate that.”
Harry helps get everything else inside while Y/N goes to get a prime parking spot. Harry felt sort of awkward just standing around while she unpacked certain things for the kitchen.
“Jesus, it really is hot in here, I need to go change.” She wipes some sweat from her forehead.
Y/N goes up to her room and opens the two small windows, and turns her fan on to try to get the air to move. She comes down a few minutes later in just a sports bra and a pair of shorts.
“This is sort of awkward, but you help me with my bed? I’m having a tough time getting it up a little higher…”
“Not awkward…at…all.” When he looks at her he sees how little clothing she’s wearing.
“If you get to be shirtless then I get to dress like this.” She says, putting her hands on her hips.
“I didn’t say anything.” He smirks. “Besides, I’m sure we’ll be seein’ each other in a lot less as the year goes on.”
She shakes her head and follows him up. Harry’s able to get the bet up a few pegs so Y/N can slide the small dresser underneath it, creating more floor space.
“That’s perfect! My parents are bringing those plastic pins you can stack as like a makeshift dresser that fits in the closet tomorrow. Hmmm.”
“What?”
“Well, usually my mom helps me make the bed. It’s just so long, it’s hard to get a good grasp on the sheet.”
“I can help if you want.”
“You’ve done enough.”
“It’s fine, I don’t mind.” He smiles. “After this though would you wanna get out for a bit? I feel like it’s cooler outside. We could go downtown for a slice.”
“Oh, I like that idea a lot. Pizza is a must right now.”
Harry helps you get her sheets on her bed, and she tell him she’ll fix the rest later. Y/N knew she wouldn’t need a lot of extra blankets tonight. She throws on a shirt and so does he, and out the door they go. They walk down town the local pizza place, and grab a booth after getting their slices.
“Nice and cool in here, huh?” He says.
“So much better.” She giggles. “Where are your other friends living?”
“They’re over on Russell Street. It’s kinda nice, I’ll have a place to go party, and then have a quiet place to come back to afterwards. Think it all worked out for the best.”
“Can you remind me again what your major is? I know Chris is Sports Management…”
“I’m an Art major…” He says quietly. “And yes, I know it’s going to be hard for me out there once I graduate.”
“Woah, I didn’t say anything.” She puts her hands up in defense. “I think that’s cool actually. What do you do? Paint? Sculpt? Draw?”
“Mix of all three actually. Basically if I can get my hands dirty, I will.” He smirks. “I just wanted to get a degree in something I liked doin’, but I do have a minor in graphic design just in case I need somethin’ to fall back on.”
“Oh, is that how you and Chris met? That’s his minor too.”
“Mhm.” He takes a bite of his pizza. “We had a couple of classes together and got paired on some projects, hit it off right away.”
“That’s great.”
“How did you and Liv meet?”
“We roomed together second semester freshmen year. Our other roommates both dropped out so we got paired randomly. She’s the best, I got really lucky. She was already dating Chris when we met.”
“The three of you seem close.”
“He’s really nice, always included me. They never made me feel like a third wheel which was nice. I mean, I have other friends, don’t get me wrong. I found things to do when they needed their alone time.”
“And you ever find any alone time?”
“That’s an awfully personal question, don’t you think?” She scoffs.
“Thought we were gettin’ to know each other a bit here…sorry.”
“It’s okay…um…I mean, there are guys I’ve been alone with…” Y/N clears her throat. “I use Tinder like every other college student, you know?” He hums his response and finishes up his slice. He leans back and sits with his arm strong across the back of the booth. “What about you?”
“Eh, I like to meet people in person, at like a party or somethin’.” He thinks for a moment, and leans on the table to be a bit closer so no one else around could really hear. “You’re pretty, Y/N, why do you use Tinder?” She blushes. “I mean, surely you could just meet someone out.”
“I…well, I don’t really go to big parties, mostly kickbacks.” He nods and finishes up his bottle of soda.
“You ready?”
“Mhm.”
They both walk back to the apartment, and he keys in. She goes upstairs to keep unpacking and to tidy up. She was trying to hang up some curtains, but she fell back from trying to reach to high. Harry hears the thud and rushes right up. He had a nicer short sleeve shirt on now, and a nicer pair of shorts.
“Are you okay?!”
“Yeah.” You laugh. “Just lost my balance. Do you think you could help me hang these up quick?”
“Sure.”
The curtains get hung and they look great with the twinkling lights Y/N strung up.
“Liv and I love these lights.” She looks at him. “You like nice.”
“Matt’s havin’ a party…do you wanan come?”
“God, with the amount of time I’d need to get ready you’d be late.” You laugh.
“I wasn’t plannin’ to leave for another hour, plenty of time to freshen up.”
“Sure, I could come out for a bit, thanks.”
He leaves her to get ready. She puts her hair up in a cute, messy bun, and touches up some makeup. Y/N finds a cute pair of shirts and a crop top to throw on and down the stairs she goes. Harry was pouring two shots of raspberry vodka into two small glasses.
“Here.” He smiles. “Wait, you drink, right?”
“Yes.” You giggle. “I can’t wait to turn twenty-one. Just a few more months.”
“Same here, February actually.”
“No way! Me too. When’s yours?”
“The first, yours?”
“The fourth.”
“Wow, that’s crazy.” They clink their glasses and off to the party they go.
//
Y/N drank way too much last night, and she knew her parents would be able to tell. They were there bright and early with the rest of her things. They also put Harry to work.
“You have a lot of shit, you know that?” He says, setting another box down.
“I’m well aware.”
Eventually Liv and Chris show up and it’s hugs all around. Y/N and Liv get a minute alone in their room, finally.
“So how was last night with just you and Harry?”
“It was good! We went out for pizza, he helped me a bunch with my things, and he took me to a party. I’m glad we had the time to get to know each other a little bit.”
“Me too. He can be kind of shy from what Chris tells me.”
“Apparently he’s an art major.”
“I wonder if he’ll hang any of his things up.”
“You know, he’s been in our room a ton already, but I didn’t think to go into his.”
“Well, let’s check it out.” They both go down and into the boy’s room.
Both sides were organized, but they could tell whose side was whose. Harry had his art supplies all over his desk, and had boxes of paint and brushes under his bed. He had a couple of things up as well.
“Looks good in here guys.” Liv says.
Y/N and Liv end up going out for lunch with Y/N’s parents, and then they go on a trip to the grocery store to pick up what they think they need.
“Alright honey, I guess we’ll see you at Thanksgiving, if not sooner.” Y/N’s mother says, giving her a hug.
“Please, be careful.” Her dad says.
“I’ll be fine. Let me know when you get back home. Thanks for everything, love you both!” She sighs as she closes the door. “Finally.”
Y/N and Liv go up to their room and continue decorating it to their liking while Harry and Chris get their gaming consoles hooked up to the TV in the living area.
“So…you got to know Y/N a little last night?”
“Yeah, she’s pretty cool so far. I was kinda worried, I didn’t think she liked me every much.”
“She just didn’t know you, that’s all. What did you guys do?”
“I helped her with her things, we grabbed a slice of pizza, and then I took her to Matt’s for a party. I think there were like three different guys that tried to take her home, but she turned them all down.” He shrugs.
“And what did you do?”
“She didn’t have a key yet, so I made sure she got back here, and then I slipped out an hour or so later to hook up with this girl that gave me her number at the party.”
“Well, thanks for getting her back here at least.” Chris chuckles.
“I’m not a fuckin’ asshole.” He nudges him playfully. “She did have fun at the party, I’ll probably bring her out again. You all can come any time. I feel like that place is gonna be my second home.”
Y/N and Live come down with all the things they like to keep in the bathroom and the boys look scared. For a student apartment it was a decent size bathroom, with a good size tub-shower. Liv opens the cabinets under the sink, and you hand her two boxes of pads and tampons.
“Yup, definitely livin’ with women.” Harry smirks and crosses his arms.
“If feminine products are going to bother you-“ Liv starts, but he cuts her off.
“Got a mum and a sister back home, periods don’t scare me. Was just simply makin’ an observation.”
“Good.” She grabs a small trashcan puts a bag in it. Y/N hands her the lid. “Listen to me very carefully, this is just for Y/N and I. There’s another small can for community use, but this is for her and I’s…”
“Say no more.” Chris says. “Just keep it under the sink and we won’t touch it.”
“I also would like some courtesy with shaving.” Y/N says. “I really don’t wanna see pubes around the toilet.” She crosses her arms. “If you make a mess, you clean it up.”
“I feel like the two of you think we’re savages.” Harry laughs. “I’ve been in a girl’s bathroom before, and I have to say, I think girls are way more disgusting.”
“Why were you in a girl’s bathroom?” Liv asks.
“I was asked to join someone in the shower.” Harry says bluntly. “And it didn’t last long because we both walked in and saw a fuckin’ bloody tampon on the floor. So we went to the men’s bathroom and it was spotless. And while we’re on the topic, you both have long hair, so if you don’t wanna see pubes around the toilet, I don’t wanna see hair in the drain.”
“Deal.” Y/N says. “Let’s move on to the kitchen, shall we?” The four walk out to the kitchen area. “If you make a mess in the microwave, you clean it immediately, don’t leave it for someone else.”
“If someone’s name is on something in the fridge, don’t eat it.” Chris says. “However, I would like to see us cooking together. Like if someone makes pasta, someone else could throw in a meat or veggie.”
“That’s a good idea.” Liv says. “If you make a mess in the fridge clean it up. Check expiration dates. Oh! Trash is a big thing. We all need to take turns with that. If you see it getting full, just take it out, don’t leave it for someone else.”
After spending over an hour on a chore chart and going over more house rules, the four feel satisfied.
//
A few weeks into the semester, and Y/N noticed that Harry wasn’t home a lot. He was either down at the art studio, or at his friend’s apartment. She also noticed he didn’t sleep there much on the weekends, but it worked out well for Chris and Liv so they could have the room alone when they needed. Y/N never saw Harry bring a girl home with him, and she was sort of relieved.
Living with two guys wasn’t as awkward as Y/N and Liv thought it might be. Everyone was really chill, and it was nice to cook together. It was like being in a little family.
One morning Harry woke up late for class, but desperately needed to shower. Y/N happened to be in there. Everyone usually showered at the same time, but Harry was in a rush and annoyed. Liv and Chris had already left for class. Harry was standing the hall, just in a towel, waiting for you to finish. When he hears the water turn off, he sighs with relief. When she didn’t come out right away, he groans.
“The fuck is she doin’ in there.” He knocks on the door. “Y/N?! I’m runnin’ late, and I need to shower!”
She opens the door immediately and they both freeze. Her eyes fall to the towel that was hanging low on his waist, and then up to him. Her towel wasn’t exactly as secure as it could be either. Her hair was just brushed out and dripping wet down her chest.
“I’m so sorry, why didn’t you knock sooner? I, uh, just let me grab my blow dryer…” She snatches it and scoots by him.
“I’ll be quick if you need to get back in there…”
“Thanks.”
Harry takes his very quick, and semi-cold shower, and gets ready for class. He had ab out ten minutes to spare. Y/N comes down the stairs, and slips into the bathroom to grab some spare tampons, and bumps into Harry on her way out, causing her to drop them.
“Shit sorry, I’m fuckin’ up your entire routine this mornin’.” He bends down to pick up what he caused her to drop and blushes when he sees that they’re tampons. He grabs them anyways and hands them to her.
“It’s okay, really.” She takes them and sticks them in her bag. “Um…well, have a good day Harry.”
“You too.”
//
“Y/N?” Harry knocks on her bedroom door late one night. She climbs out of bed and goes down the few steps to open it.
“Is everything okay, Harry?”
“Yeah, I think Liv and Chris fell asleep…and I really don’t wanna sleep on the couch, nor do I wanna go in there in case they decide to get busy again.” He huffs. He looked exhausted, he was at the studio all evening and just wanted to sleep.
“Oh! Well…okay, I could sleep in her bed if you wanna sleep in mine?”
He follows her up the stairs.
“I’ll just sleep in hers, we’re all close enough now. She doesn’t really have a leg to stand on to say much about it.” He yawns and takes his shirt off.
“Okay.” He watches as she uses the small step stool to get back into her bed. He waits until she’s scrolling on her phone to take his pants off, and he climbs into Liv’s bed. “I’m gonna turn the light off now.”
“Alright.”
“Goodnight, Harry.”
“Goodnight, Y/N.”
//
Similar nights to those kept happening, and Harry was starting to get aggravated, so he called for a roommate meeting to discuss it.
“I’m sick of not bein’ able to sleep in my own bed. I know I’m not here a lot, but when I am, I’d like to be able to just go to my room and go to sleep.”
“You’re right, Harry. I’m sorry.” Liv says, sort of embarrassed.
“I think you two should just share a room. It’s clear that’s what you want anyways.”
“But what about Y/N?” Liv looks at her.
“I feel like Harry’s been my roommate anyways.” She shrugs. “We share every other room with guys, guess I wouldn’t mind rooming with one either.”
“What if your parents find out?” Chris asks.
“It’s not like we’re gonna push the bed together and sleep next to each other like you both are probably gonna do. He’ll have his side, and I’ll have mine. I think it makes the most sense too.”
That afternoon everyone helps move things around. Liv gets situated with Chris while Harry gets his things the way he likes.
“You know secretly, I’m happy they didn’t ask for the bigger room. It’s way nicer up here.” Harry says, sitting down on his new bed. “You sure you’re okay with this? I don’t wanna take away your privacy…”
“I’ll just change in the bathroom more.” She shrugs. “Or, I mean, just look the other way if I happen to need to change quick up here and I’ll give you the same courtesy.”
“I know I’m not here a lot on the weekends, but for the times I am, I mean, uh, like do you ever bring anyone back here with you? If you could just text me a warning or somethin’ or put somethin’ on the door.”
“I don’t…I haven’t, um, it’s been a dry start to the semester.” She blushes. “I had my period, and then I’ve started to get busy with my classes…I’ve gone out a few times, but there’s also no one I’ve really wanted to hook up with. Don’t worry, if the occasion happens I’ll give you a heads up.”
“Cool.”
“Is that what you’re out doing on the weekends? Hooking up?”
“Sometimes…mostly I just end up sleepin’ at Matt’s. They have a futon for me there for when I get too drunk to walk all the way back here. You should come out to another party, he’s havin’ people over tonight if you wanna come. Let the lovebirds down there have a little privacy.”
“Good idea, yeah, that sounds like fun.” She gets up and goes into her closet to pick out a casual dress. “Is your friend Matt single?” She asks without looking at him.
“Uh, yeah. Why?”
“I don’t know…I think he’s cute, and he was really nice to me last time I was there. Gave me a bunch to drink.”
“Well, that’s just common courtesy when you bring a girl to a party. Get her all liquored up.” Harry smirks.
“Mhm.” She rolls her eyes at him, and grabs a blue dress from her closet and her jean jacket. “Do you think he’d be into me?”
“What’s not to be into?”
“Oh stop it.”
“M’serious! You’re really nice, and you’re cute. He’d go for you.”
“Thanks, Harry.”
//
Harry walks Y/N to the party after pregaming a bit at their place.
“Harry!” Matt says as he walks in. “And you brought Y/N again, hey.”
“Hi.” They smile at each other.
“We’re just setting a game of flip cup up in the kitchen, you guys wanna play?”
“Sure!” Y/N says brightly.
The night was a lot of fun. Harry found himself talking to some girl who was clearly trying to get him to go home with her, but in the pit of his stomach he wanted to make sure you got home okay.
“Let me just find my friend and make sure she’s all set, okay?” He say, leaning into the girl and she nods.
Harry searches for you. Come to think of it, he hadn’t seen Matt in a while either. He walks into the kitchen and stops short when he sees Y/N sitting up on the counter with her legs wrapped around Matt’s waist, and his tongue down her throat. He wants to say something, but he opts to just text her that he’s left with someone.
“She’s all set, let’s go.” He takes the girl by her hand and leads her out of the house.
She tells him where she lives and that her roommate was gone for the weekend so they wouldn’t be disturbed. She was a good shag, Harry was having fun, but just as he coming an image of Y/N’s legs wrapped around his own waist, instead of Matt’s popped into his head.
“Shit.” He groans and looks down at the girl underneath him. She smiles up at him and he smiles back.
He pulls out and throws the condom away. She frowns when he starts to get dressed.
“You don’t have to leave…”
“I know, usually I would spend the night, but…uh…I.” He sighs and looks at her. “Listen, I don’t really have a good excuse, I just wanna go sleep in my own bed, I’m sorry.” He leans in and kisses her forehead. “I had a lot of fun though.” He gives her a reassuring smile. “You have my number?”
“Yeah.”
“Text me anytime.” He winks, and leaves her there.
When Harry gets back to his empty room, he’s not entirely sure what it is about it that’s bothering him. Eventually he’s able to fall asleep, but he’s woken up a few hours later by the sounds of Y/N coming up the few steps to their room. She was carrying her shoes to not make much noise. She gently opens her dresser drawer to grab a large t-shirt and shorts. He looks away while she changes, not that he could really see her anyways with how dark the room was. He hears her get into bed, and the satisfied sigh she makes turns his stomach.

The light creeping in from the curtains punched Harry in the face. He sits up and see Y/N on her side facing him, scrolling on her phone. She looks up at him when she sees he’s awake.
“Morning.” She says quietly.
“Hey.” He stretches and gets up. Even though they’d been sharing a room for a while, she would never get used to seeing him in just a pair of boxers. “M’takin’ a shower.”
“Okay.” He stops short before going down the stairs.
“What time did you get home last night?”
“Um…like 3AM I think. I was surprised to see your shoes downstairs. I’m glad I caught them or I would’ve flipped the light on and barreled up here.” She laughs. “I thought you went home with someone.”
“I did.”
“Oh.”
“Didn’t feel like spendin’ the night.” She hums her response. “Did you hook up with Matt?”
“Yeah.” You blush. “Is that okay?”
“Yeah, why the fuck would I care?” He crosses his arms.
“I don’t know…I mean I figured you knew what my intention was since I asked you if he was single, but if you don’t want me hooking up with your friends, I don’t have to again.”
“So if I really had a problem with it, you wouldn’t fuck him again?”
“If you had a valid reason, sure. I mean…it was a nice hook up, but not the best I ever had. It’s not like I need to have his dick again.” Harry had never really hard Y/N talk like that before, it surprised him. “Oh god, don’t tell him I said that…”
“What wasn’t good about it?”
“I…what?”
“Well, if it wasn’t the best you ever had, what wasn’t good about it? Come on, you can tell me?” He leans back against the wall.
“I didn’t get off.” She says bluntly.
“Oh.”
“And I had to fake it so we could be done.” Her cheeks grew redder.
“You sounded pretty satisfied when you got back…”
“I sighed with relief because I was exhausted and was finally in my comfy bed.”
“So you faked it.”
“Mhm.”
“Why not just tell him he was doin’ it wrong.”
“He was so drunk, Harry, I don’t think it would’ve made a difference. He passed out after, and I slipped out the door.”
“Wait, you walked back by yourself?” He frowns.
“Yeah.”
“If that happens again, just call me, okay? I don’t like that.”
“But you were with someone.”
“So? I’m always there for my friends, come on Y/N. What if somethin’ bad happened?”
“Okay, okay, I won’t walk alone again.”
“Good.”
“Go shower so I can shower, will you?”
“We could just save water and shower together.” He jokes, and she whips her pillow at him. “Oi!” He picks it up and whips it back at her, making her laugh.
//
Harry came home with paint all over his hands, and was scrubbing them profusely when Y/N came in through the door.
“Thank god it’s Friday, I’m beat.” You sigh and flop onto the couch.
“Me too, I think I’m gonna stay in tonight.”
“Oh?” She was shocked.
“Mhm.” He sits down next to her. “Might play some video games or somethin’. What about you, do you have plans?”
“As of right now, no. But who knows, my friends my text and say something’s happening.” She shrugs.
“We could hang out if you wanted.”
“What would you wanna do?”
“We could watch a movie.”
“Sure! That sounds nice actually. We should see if Liv and Chris wanna join. I feel like we never all hang out.”
Harry was annoyed, but not visibly. He really hated hanging out with couples.
//
That night the four get cozy on the couch for a movie. Chris made everyone drinks, and Y/N popped some popcorn. The girls sit in the middle of the couch while the boys take the end seats. Not that that mattered, because eventually Chris pulled Liv into his lap, and they got comfortable together. The wine Y/N had been drinking was making her sleepy, and her head dropped onto Harry’s shoulder, not that he minded.
She wakes up to the feeling of being carried up to their room.
“Harry?” He sets her down on her bed.
“Yeh fell asleep.” He smooths her hair away from her face. “Brought yeh up.”
“Do you…never mind.”
“What?”
“I don’t know…it’s stupid, never mind.”
“Y/N, would you just tell me what you want?”
“Well…sometimes I get a little jealous that Chris and Liv can just cuddle, and I didn’t know if you’d wanna have a platonic cuddle with me for a bit.”
“A platonic cuddle?”
“Yeah, but only if you want.”
“What does that entail exactly?”
“Well, you could lay next to me and I could just rest my head on your chest. No spooning unless I’m the big spoon.”
“Why’s that?” He chuckles. “Not that I don’t like being the little spoon.”
“I wouldn’t wanna give you a boner if I was little spoon.”
“Ah, right, because I have zero zelf control.”
“Do you wanna cuddle or not?”
“Yeah, alright.”
He climbs onto her bed and lays flat on his back so she can rest her head on his chest, just like she wanted. He puts an arm around her and rests his hand on her shoulder. What Y/N didn’t know was that Harry had gotten a booty call text, and was supposed to be out the door, but this was something that Harry just couldn’t say no to, so he texts the girl and apologizes, and tells her he’ll be over another time. He feels her nuzzle into his chest further. Harry realizes he very much likes the attention he’s getting from wine-drunk Y/N.
They both asleep like that, cuddled together on Y/N’s bed. Her eyes fluttered open, at first she was confused when she saw Harry, but then she remembered she asked him to cuddle with her. She didn’t remember getting so comfy she had fallen asleep. Both of his arms were around her, and she had a leg over one of his. His lips were parted and light snores were coming from him. Y/N desperately needed to pee, but she also didn’t want to disturb him. She notices his phone lighting up with texts, and her curiosity got the better of her. After all, it could’ve been an emergency.
Lindsay – Matt’s Party: are you serious?   12:04AM
Lindsay – Matt’s Party: you’re rly not coming over? 12:07AM
Lindsay – Matt’s Party: this is the 3rd time you’ve done this, H. I’m done. 12:15AM
Y/N sets his phone back down, and looks back up at him with a raised eyebrow.
He blew off some girl for me? She thinks to herself. He could’ve gone…maybe he didn’t really like her that much.
Harry’s eyebrows furrow and his eyes slowly open. He has the same slight confusion Y/N did, but then he relaxes when he remembers he voluntarily slept next to her.
“Hey.” He mumbles in a sleepy voice, one she had gotten quite used to and liked a lot.
“Hi.” The air suddenly felt awkward. “I need to pee.”
“Okay.”
“I didn’t wanna wake you up.”
“Okay.”
“So, I’ll just…”
She sits up slightly, and ends up straddling him to try to climb over him. Her head suddenly started hurting and she almost fell off. Harry grabs her by her hips to steady her.
“You’re like really clumsy.” He says to her.
“I’m aware.” She looks down at his hands. “I still need to pee, can you let go of me.”
His cheeks heat up and he lets go of her so she can continue trying to get off her bed. Harry was still tired, and he could easily go slip into his bed, but he liked Y/N’s bed, for whatever reason. So he rolls onto his side and checks his phone.
“Fuck.” He says when he sees the texts from Lindsay. He thinks to text her back and apologize, but he didn’t want to lead her on anymore because odds are he’d stand her up again. ]
Y/N comes back up a few minutes later, feeling much better after having used the toilet and brushed her teeth. She chuckles when she sees Harry still on her bed.
“What are you doing?”
“M’not awake enough to move yet.” He mumbles as she grabs some clothes from her dresser.
“Well, I have some homework I need to get done, so I’m gonna shower and then go to the library.”
“I’ll be at the studio most of the day, and then I’ll probably go to Matt’s tonight…”
“Okay.”
He watches her go back down the stairs and he sits up. The two had gotten into the habit of giving each other a play by play of their plans. Harry figured it was just common courtesy as a roommate, but maybe it was a little bit more. It was like they were an old married couple who slept on two different beds. Harry changes into some new clothes quick and goes downstairs. Chris was eating some breakfast as he grabs a Gatorade from the fridge.
“Mornin’, mate.” Harry says, taking a sip of his drink.
“Morning, thought you went out last night?”
“Nope, I stayed in with Y/N instead.” He shrugs. “I feel kinda bad, the girl was pissed…but I think it was for the best.”
//
Things were a tad awkward between Harry and Matt since Y/N slept with Matt and never really followed up.
“Did she ever say anything to you?”
“No.” Harry lies. “You hook up with girls all the time, why are you hung up on her?”
“I don’t know, she was a good fuck, I’d like to hit it again.” Harry rolls his eyes as bites down on his cup. “You haven’t brought her here since.”
“She hasn’t seemed interested.” Harry shrugs and turns to see Lindsay talking to her friends. They make eye contact and she flips him off. “Jesus.” He walks over to her. “Can we talk?”
“Why? Because you suddenly have the time?” She huffs.
“Please?”
“Fine.” They step aside from her friends.
“You know, you act like I didn’t even tell you I couldn’t come over…”
“One second you’re saying see you ten, and the next you’re saying not tonight. So what happened? Get a better offer?”
Yes.
“No, it wasn’t that…my roommate needed me…”
“Right, the girl you conveniently share a room with.” She crosses her arms.
“It’s only like that because our friends are dating.”
“What did she need from you then, Harry? Your dick?”
“No!” He groans. “It’s not like that with us, we’re just friends.”
“So then what did she need?”
“She got a little wine drunk, and she seemed like she needed me to stay, so I did. She didn’t know I had other plans when she asked me to hang out a little longer…” Not a total lie, not a total truth. “I really did wanna see you.” He puts his hand on her shoulder.
“I hate how crazy you boys make me, I swear. It’s not like you’re the only person I’m hooking up with…”
“Yeah, same goes for me.”
“I just thought we had a regular thing going, and that was like the third time you blew me off. If you don’t wanna-“ Harry cuts her off by kissing her.
“Let’s get outta here.”
She nods and takes his hand. They walk back to her place, and start to get busy. He was just about to go down on her when his phone rings. He pops his head up to grab it.
“You can’t be serious.”
“It could be an emergency.” He sits up and squints to see it’s Y/N. “Hello?” He starts fingering Lindsay while he’s on the phone with her.
“Harry?” She slurs.
“What’s up?” He rubs Lindsay’s clit and her head rolls back into the pillow.
“I’m sorry to bother you, but.” She hiccups. “Liv and Chris left, or maybe I just can’t find them, anyways, I wanna go home, and you told me to-“
“Where are you?”
“On Russell actually…uhhhhh, 19D I think.”
“Okay, I can be there in like ten minutes, can you hang tight?”
“Mhm. I’ll sit out on the steps for you.”
“Okay.” He hangs up and tosses his phone. “What?”
“You’re a nutbag.”
“Do you want me to fuck you or not? Yeh get me for ten minutes, how do you want it?”
//
Y/N was sitting on the front steps of the house she was at, waiting for Harry. She was slightly cold from the crisp fall air.
Harry: be there soon :) 1:30AM
She sighs with relief when she gets his text. She sees him walking up the drive and stands up and walks towards him.
“I’m so sorry if I ruined your night.” She stumbles as she walks over to him.
“You didn’t, I’m glad you called.” He hooks his arm around her waist to steady her.
“You smell like perfume.”
“I just hooked with someone, sorry.”
“You what?!” She starts laughing.
“I was in the middle of it when you called, actually.” He starts laughing. “She wasn’t too happy, but I made up for it. Although I deleted her number after I left, it was sort of a parting gift.”
“Sometimes I forget you can be just like every other guy.” She scoffs.
“Hey, I told her it was the last time before I left. She said it was probably for the best anyways.”
“Oh, well as long as she knows.”
“I thought you didn’t really go to parties like this often.”
“I don’t…but Chris got invited out so he brought me and Liv with him, and we all drank a lot. I don’t know how I lost them. I texted them both and told them you were coming for me.” She looks down at the heels on her feet. “I have to take these off, they hurt.”
“It’s too cold to walk barefoot. Lemme give you a piggyback ride.”
“Really?!”
“Sure.” He shrugs.
Y/N gets on his back, and he carries her the rest of the way home. When he gets her inside they see Chris and Liv on the couch.
“There you two are?!” Y/N yells as Harry sets her down. “Where the fuck did you two go?”
“Liv got sick at the party, so I brought her home, we’re so sorry Y/N.” Chris says standing up.
“Yeah, Y/N…this is the first time in over an hour I haven’t had my head in the toilet. Chris cleaned it up so it’s all good.”
“Well I’m sorry you got sick.” She starts unbuttoning her pants and scurries to the bathroom. “I have to pee so bad!”
“Thanks for getting her.” Chris rubs the back of his neck.
“It was no problem. I told her I didn’t want her walkin’ alone and to call me if she was in a place where that might happen.”
Y/N comes out of the bathroom and looks at everyone.
“Feel like I’m gonna pass out so I’m going to bed.”
“I’m gonna take a quick shower, I’ll be up soon.”
“Okay.”
“You two sound like us.” Liv jokes.
“M’just bein’ courteous.” Harry points out and goes to take his shower. He didn’t wanna smell like Lindsay anymore.
When he gets upstairs, only in his towel, he see Y/N sitting up in bed wearing just a large t-shirt and panties. Harry walks by her quick and hope to god his face isn’t red.
“Harry?”
“Yeah?” He turns to look at her.
“Would you come cuddle again?”
“Course. Now turn around so I can change.”
She playfully covers her eyes and he shakes his head as slides his boxers on.
“This is all I’m wearin’, hope that’s okay.”
“S’fine with me.” She yawns, and he turns off the light.
“Scootch over.” Instead she just rolls onto her side, facing the wall. “Thought you said no spooning.”
“Thought you said you had self-control.”
“I do…” He looks down and sees the t-shirt was now bunched around her hips and he could see the lovely curve of her ass in her cheeky panties. “Just don’t wiggle against me like a brat.”
“I’m never a brat.”
“Mhm.” He mumbles sarcastically as he settles in. He slips a leg between hers, and wraps an arm around her stomach. She adjust against him, just to get comfier, and they both settle.
“Goodnight, Harry.” She yawns.
“Night.” He liked the smell of her perfume much better.
//
“What the hell happened up here?” Liv cackles the next morning, well, more like afternoon, it was already noon. Harry and Y/N wake up and groan. Harry was still spooning her.
“Liv…no offense, but this isn’t your room anymore.” Y/N groans as she rubs the sleep from her eyes.
“I just came up to grab my sweatshirt that I let you borrow a couple days ago, but I can see I walked in on something. How long has this been going on for?”
“How long has what been goin’ on for? We’re just sleepin’.”
“Harry you don’t have any clothes on!”
“Not true! I’m wearin’ boxers.”
“What’s wrong with your bed?”
“I asked him to sleep with me, just sleep, well cuddle really.” Y/N speaks up. “It’s platonic.”
“Yeah, not all of us have a boyfriend to go to sleep with every night, Liv.”
“Well, pardon me.” She scoffs and grabs her sweatshirt. “You know it wouldn’t be a big deal if you two hooked up. I think it would make sense, and-“
“Goodbye, Liv, have a nice lunch with Chris’ parents.” Y/N says. “Hope you’re feeling better.”
“Much…and I’ll tell them you say hi.”
“Thanks.”
They watch as she goes back down the stairs, and then look at each other.
“Wanna grab brunch downtown?” Harry asks.
“God, that sounds amazing. Just let me jump in the shower quick?”
“Go for it.”
Harry waits for her to leave before getting out of bed. He removes the blanket and looks down at his morning wood. He was sort of glad Liv woke them up so Y/N didn’t have time to notice it poking her. Or maybe she did and just didn’t say anything or care. Either way he wasn’t going to say anything.
He gets dressed quick and waits for her in the living area. Once she’s ready they walk downtown to the diner, and get a booth for two. They both order coffee and water.
“Wanna split some hashbrowns?” She asks, looking at the menu. “I might get a veggie omelet.”
“Yeah, we could do that. That sounds good too, I think I’ll get the same.” He chuckles.
They both give their orders to the waitress.
“I hope Liv didn’t bother you, you can sleep in my bed any time you want. I kinda like having your wait on me.” She blushes.
“You mean your three weighted blankets aren’t enough for you?” He laughs.
“I do not have three…I have two, and no, they’re not.” She crosses her arms. “I don’t really think it’s that weird.”
“It’s only happened twice too…” He takes a sip of his coffee. “Your bed is way comfier than mine, so I think I’ll be taking you up on that more often than not.”
“Works for me.” She smiles. “I’m really glad we’ve gotten so close, Harry.” She puts her hand over his and it gives him goosebumps. “You’re like my best guy friend.” A punch right to his gut.
“I’m glad we’ve gotten closer too.”
//
It didn’t happen every night, but Harry and Y/N had gotten into a habit of cuddling and falling asleep together pretty often. There was just something soothing about it for the both of them.
“What the fuck happened up here?” Harry says coming home late from the studio one Thursday night.
“I’m so sorry, I have like two midterms tomorrow and I’m trying to study for both of them and I’m freaking out!”
Y/N had papers and books all over the place. Her laptop was open and she had music playing.
“How long have you been studying for?”
“Hours.” She groans.
“Well, maybe you need a break.”
“I can’t take a break! What if I don’t…what are you doing?!”
He was in the middle of taking his clothes off.
“Hi, I’m Harry, and I tend to get paint all over me, so it required me to change quite frequently. What’s your name?”
“Your sarcasm isn’t helpful. You’re supposed to tell me to turn around.” She pouts.
“Y/N.” He sighs. “You’ve seen me in next to nothing, and to be honest, I don’t really care if you look.”
“You don’t?”
“No.” He throws on a fresh shirt and some sweatpants. He sits down on the floor in front of her. “Look all you want.” He shrugs and picks up her flashcards.
“What are you doing?”
“M’gonna help you study.”
“You don’t have to. I’m sure there are better things you could be doing with your Thursday night.”
“Like what?”
“I don’t know, don’t you have some girl you need to go fuck?” Harry’s jaw drops. “I’m so sorry, that sounded meaner than it was supposed to. I didn’t mean-“
“But you still said it.” He shakes his head at her. “Is that what you think of me? Some guy that just fucks a ton of girls.”
“Well, to be fair, you do fuck a lot of girls, Harry.”
“A lot of guys do.” He huffs, and then he smirks at you. “You know what your problem is?”
“What’s my problem?”
“You don’t get fucked enough, no scratch that, you don’t get off enough. That’s why you’re so stressed. You get A’s all the time, you know this shit. You’re just tense because you can’t get there, and you share a room with a dude so it’s not like you’re gettin’ yourself there, unless you’re doin’ it in the shower.”
“Would you listen to yourself?” She laughs. “Can you please quiz me?”
“Thought I had better things to do?” He grins.
“Harry.” She sighs.
“Okay, okay.” He squints at the flashcard. “What is Andre Bazin’s main film theory?”
“Realism.”
“Correct, see, you know this.”
“That’s an easy one!”
“I still think you’re just wound up.”
“Would you like to do something about it?” She scoffs.
“I would, actually.” He puts the cards down.
“What? I was kidding, Harry.”
“Well…I’m not.” He sighs.
“You…wait, I’m very confused.”
“To be blunt, I’d like to have sex with you.” Her eyes grow wide and her cheeks flush. “But…I don’t wanna do anything that might ruin-“
“Go down and lock our door.” He’s stunned.
“Wait, really?”
“Do it before I change my mind.” She whispers.
Harry stands up and quietly goes down to lock their door. When he comes back up he sees Y/N bent over cleaning everything up off the floor. She puts everything on her desk, and turns her twinkling lights on. Then she turns the main light off, creating more of an atmosphere.
“You really wanna do this?” Harry asks.
“You’re like the hottest guy I’ve ever met, of course I want to…I just didn’t think you wanted to. You treat me like your little sister or something sometimes.”
“I…wouldn’t call the way we sleep the way I would sleep next to my sister.”
“You really do like grind right into me.”
“So you have noticed that.”
“Of course I have…I just figured it was something all guys did in the morning so I never said anything.”
“You’re on the pill?” He asks, stepping closing to her.
“Yes.”
“Do you want me to use a condom?”
“Yes.”
He nods and goes into his desk drawer to grab a couple, he sets them down.
“Let’s do it on my bed, it’ll make less noise, yours will rock too much since it’s up higher.” She nods and goes over to his bed and sits down. He sits down next to her. “You’re positive?”
“Yes.”
He caresses her cheek.
“You’re shaking.” He says softly.
“I’m nervous.”
“Why? S’just me.”
“That’s exactly why I’m nervous. You’ve always made me nervous, Harry. I’ve just been good at hiding it.”
“Why didn’t you ever tell me?”
“Because we have a really good, chill thing going here. And I like being your friend.”
“This doesn’t have to ruin anything…” He cups both of her cheeks with his hands. “Let me make you feel good, Y/N.”
“Okay.”
He pulls her in and crashes her lips to his. Her eyes flutter closed as he swipes his tongue across her bottom lip, and she opens up for him. He tasted just like the mint gum he chewed constantly. She was making out with the guy every girl wanted. Y/N knew about Harry’s reputation, but she also knew a different side of him. She knew the side of him that liked his head scratched to help him fall asleep, and the way he really did just want a banana and nothing more for breakfast, and the way his hands always smelled like paint no matter how many times he scrubbed them.
He pulls back from her to get some air, or so she things, but his lips connect with her jaw and then to just under her earlobe. She gasps when she feels him suck on her skin, but she loves it. She wasn’t sure what to do with herself, so she just grips at his shoulders, while his hands roam down to her hips.
In a swift motion, he sits back on the bed, and pulls her onto his lap so she’s straddling him. She rolls her hips down on his while they’re lips find each other again. He groans against her bites down on her bottom lip. He hands tug at the hem of her shirt.
“Can I take this off?” He says, panting.
“Yes.”
He lifts it up over her head, revealing a sports bra that was really pushing her boobs up. He pulls her close and kisses on the tops of her breasts while she continues to grind down on him. She was starting to feel how hard he was and it was making her wet.
“Just take it off.” She says.
He nods and lifts the bra off her. He moves to take his own shirt off as well before cupping her breasts in his large hands. He tweaks her nipples, making her head roll back.
“I’ve wanted to see you like this for a long time, Y/N.” He says as he wraps his lips around her, sucking one of her breasts into his mouth, and letting it go with a pop.
“You have?” She gasps as he does the same thing to other one.
“You have no idea.”
He pulls her close so they’re chests are flush and they go back to kissing. His hands slide down to the globes of her ass and he gives her a good squeeze. He shifts them to lay her down, and she wraps her legs around his waist, just like how he’s wanted for a while. He kisses down her neck, chest, stomach, and then hooks his fingers into her leggings.
“You’re sure?”
“Please, just get them off. Get my underwear off, just take everything off of me.”
He smirks and does everything she says. She was full exposed to him and it was a glorious sight to see. Every curve, every dip, every mark on her was beautiful. He kisses her left knee and works his way to her inner thigh. He looks up at her one more time and he gives him an approving nod. She grips the blankets when she feels his tongue on her. Her hips buck up towards him, but he uses his arm to press down on her waist. He gives her a few slow licks at first, and then flicks his tongue back and forth on her clit. She moans softly, and then grits her teeth when he sucks on her. Her hands fly to his hair when she feels a finger slip inside. He looks up at her again and she just nods yes.
His mouth works her clit while he pumps in and out of her, knuckles deep, curling his fingers up. She gasps and groans, desperately trying to stay quiet so Liv and Chris don’t hear anything. Y/N’s legs were shaking around Harry, and he loved it. Her back was arching, he could tell she was close from the way she clenching around his fingers.
“Oh, shit!” She gasps and claps a hand over her mouth.
Harry waits for her to finish riding for him to pull his fingers out. She watches as he sucks them into his mouth, and hers falls open. She blinks tears away.
“Are you crying?” He runs a thumb under one of her eyes.
“I just…um…that was intense is all.”
“Do you wanna keep going?”
“Yes.” She props herself up on her elbows. “Do you want me to, uh, return the favor?”
“Maybe another time.” He stands up and pulls his joggers down. “I really just wanna fuck you, if that’s alright.”
“Mhm.” She smiles. Wow, we haven’t even finished yet and he’s already talking about another time. She thinks to herself.
She watches as Harry slowly takes his boxers off. Her eyes grow wide when she see it. It was big, and thick. Suddenly her mouth felt dry. He grabs a condom from his desk and rolls it on with ease. He gets back on the bed, between her legs.
“Y/N?”
“Yeah?”
“You’re certain?”
“Yes, Harry, I want you.”
He smiles and kisses her quick. He looks down so he can line himself up with her dripping center. He slowly presses his tip in, and she can already feel him stretching her out. He accidentally slides in a little fast, though.
“Holy shit!” She moans loudly, and he presses his hand over her mouth. Her eyes were wild looking up at him.
“I know, okay, I know, but if you wanna do this you need to stay fucking quiet. I don’t want them to hear. Can you do that f’me, Y/N?” She nods her head yes, and he takes his hand away. “I didn’t mean to just shove it in like that, m’sorry.”
“S’okay, it felt good.” She giggles. He looks down between them.
“S’really snug…you’re so tight.” His words make her clench around him. “Can I move?”
“Please.”
Harry pulls out slightly and thrusts back in, and eventually he found a pace that suited the both of them. He buries his head in the crook of her neck, and hooks his arm under one of her legs, while her other leg was wrapped around his waist. Her nails were digging into his back, and it all just felt so fucking good. Her face was hidden in her shoulder to keep her moans and cries muffled.
“Takin’ it so well, Y/N.” He peppers kisses to her sweaty forehead. He drops her leg and uses both of his arms to prop himself up so he could really give it to her. The bed was shaking, but it wasn’t making much noise. “How’s it feel?”
“So good, so fucking good.”
“Yeah? Like havin’ me in you like this?”
“Yes!” She gasps as he hits her g-spot. “Oh my god.” She says shocked and then looks up at him. “Do…do that again.” He gives her another thrust right on the spot and her eyes roll into the back of her head.
“You’ve never come vaginally before, have you?” He grins.
“No.”
“Oh, baby…hold on tight.”
She grips his shoulders while he hits the spot over and over. Her teeth were clenched, trying so very hard not to make much noise, but when he hits it just right again, she lets go and cries out. Harry crashes his mouth to hers to swallow it best he can. She was writhing beneath him, having never had orgasm so strong before. Harry can’t last much longer after that, and spills into the condom. He collapses on top of her for a moment or two, just trying to catch his breath. He slowly pulls out of her and she winces.
“Sorry.” He whispers. “You…might be a little sore.”
“A little?” She scoffs. “I can’t believe you fit that whole thing inside of me.” She sits up and grabs her shirt. When she stands her legs feel like jello.
“Where are you goin’?”
“I have to pee, you went down on me, I’m not gonna risk getting a UTI. Just get into my bed, I’ll be back in a second.” He smiles and nods. He was happy she wanted to cuddle.
It stung when she went to the bathroom like she figured it would. She was thankful Liv and Chris didn’t seem to be awake. She fills a glass of water and brings it up with her. She takes a sip and hands it to Harry as she climbs into bed. He takes generous sip and hands it back to her to finish. He puts it on her desk when she’s done. They both sink down and she lays her head on his chest.
“How do you feel?” He asks, breaking the silence.
“Good, how do you feel?”
“Good…didn’t realize there was that much tension between us.” He chuckles.
“Harry, I don’t wanna be one of those girls, but what’s supposed to happen next…”
“We’re gonna cuddle and go to sleep like we usually do. Then tomorrow you’re gonna ace your midterms.”
“And after that?” She looks up at him, and he looks down at her.
“I think I only wanna be a one woman kinda guy…” She smiles up at him. “Would you wanna try going out on a date?”
“There’s a free skate happening down at the ice arena on Saturday night…any interest?”
“No interest in doin’ anything tomorrow?”
“Someone’s a bit eager.” She smirks.
“Alright, ice skating actually sounds good for Saturday. I have a couple of midterms tomorrow too that are gonna take a lot outa me.”
“How about pizza and a movie tomorrow night then?”
“Oh, I like the sound of that.” He kisses her hair line. “What should we do about Chris and Liv?”
“Let’s see how a couple of dates go before we tell them anything.”
“Good idea, although, I’m sure they probably heard you.”
“I wasn’t that loud, and it wasn’t my fault if I was.” She swats at his chest.
“True.” He looks over at his bed. “This could work really well. Use my bed for the fucking, and then we have your nice comfy bed for sleepin’.”
“Yeah, and then there’s no gross wet spot to worry about.” She giggles, and he bursts out laughing.
“I didn’t hurt you or anything did?”
“No, not at all. It felt really good the whole time, I promise. It hurt when I went to the bathroom though.”
“M’sorry.” He sighs. “You were so tight, I didn’t really know how to be any gentler than I was.”
“It’s okay, really. You took really good care of me. I feel way more relaxed now. I think you were right about me just needing to de-stress before my exams.”
//
The two end up falling asleep, and it’s a miracle Y/N hears her alarm go off the next morning. Harry knew Chris and Liv would be gone already since they both have 8AM’s, so he gets up with Y/N to take a shower. They didn’t do anything sexual, but it certainly was an intimate shower. She thought about him all day, everything from last night replaying over and over in her mind. It was a wonder she could concentrate during her exams.
She orders the pizza when she gets in later and sets up the movie. She bumps into Liv after freshening up upstairs.
“Hey, haven’t see you all day. How’d your midterms go?” Liv asks, about to take a slice of pizza.
“That’s not for you!” Y/N yelps. “And they went fine, Harry, uh, helped me study last night.”
“Oh, good! And who’s it for?”
“It’s, um, for Harry, as a thank you for him staying in to help me last night.”
“Um, okay?”
“Sorry…in fact, I’m gonna go put it on his bed so no one touches it. What are you and Chris doing tonight?”
“We were gonna go to Charlotte’s place. Do you wanna come?”
“Nah, I’m exhausted, I’m gonna stay in, but thanks.”
Y/N: I’m bringing the pizza up to our room, I think we should watch the movie up here too…
Harry: are chris and liv home??
Y/N: for now, but I think they’re going out. I just don’t want them snooping
Harry: good call…I’ll be home soon btw, just finished one of my graphic design exams
Y/N: Yay!
Harry gets in, and goes right upstairs. He locks the door behind him. Y/N was sitting on his bed with her laptop and the box of pizza.
“Hey.” You smile.
“Hi.” He smiles back. “That still warm?”
“Mhm.”
“Think it’ll stay that way?” He asks, taking his shirt off.
“I guess we’ll find out.” She sets it on his desk, along with her laptop.
“Been thinkin’ about you all day.” He says, leaning down to kiss her. She lays back on the bed so he can get on top of her.
“Really?” He hums his response as he kisses on her neck. “I thought about you too.” He yanks her shirt up over her breasts and kisses on them. “Harry, I really wanna do this again, but I’m…too sore…” She sighs and he sits up. “But…maybe now I could return the favor.”
“Yeh wanna suck me off, baby?”
“Mhm.”
After one hell of a blowjob, Harry and Y/N cuddle up and crack open the pizza that was waiting to be eaten, and they start their movie.
“How do you think your exams went?” He asks.
“Good, I think I did really well. What about yours?”
“Piece of cake.” He scoffs. “Graphic design is so easy, I don’t know why Chris complains about it all the time.”
“He’s just not as creative as you are. I wish you’d hang more of your paintings up…”
“Really? I have some down at the studio I could bring home.”
“Please! I’d love it, and I’m not just saying that, I think you’re genuinely talented.”
“Thanks.” He kisses her temple.
“I have to say, I was nervous having a guy I barley know as a roommate this year, but it’s worked out way better than I ever could’ve imagined.” They both giggle.
“Mm, I’m sure your parents will be thrilled when they found out their fears came true.”
“God, I can’t even think about that.” She takes a bite of pizza. “I was gonna ask you to come home for Thanksgiving before all this happened, but now maybe that wouldn’t be such a great idea.”
“You were?” He gives her a thoughtful smile.
“Yeah…I didn’t know what you normally did.”
“I usually stay here and eat shitty food at the dining hall. I’d come home with you.”
“You would?”
“Sure.” He shrugs. “We’re tryin’ somethin’ new between us, but at the core we’re still friends right?”
“Yeah.”
“So then I’d love to come home with you for Thanksgiving either way, and I think it’s very nice of you to think of me.” He takes a bite of pizza. “Plus, then I can see if your family likes me at all.”
“Good point.” She puts the pizza box on the desk and nestles in closer to him. She looks up at him and puckers her lips. He happily gives her a kiss. “I like you, Harry.”
“I like you too.”

Night Shift Part 3 (F!Reader x Frankie Morales)
Summary: Yours and Frankie’s weekends take very different turns
Word Count: 2K
Warnings: Emotionally abusive relationship, very brief mention of drug use, drinking, T*m D*vis makes an appearance
Part 1 Part 4
Frankie slept better that week than he had in months. Every night was long, uninterrupted, mercifully dreamless sleep. The diner had done exactly what he had hoped. When he awoke that Saturday afternoon, he felt better than he had in ages. He hummed while he rummaged through the refrigerator, grabbing out some leftover padthai and throwing it in the microwave.
Each night that week, a routine between you and him had formed. You’d work, barely exchanging words until the dinner rush was completed, then you’d make him a coffee and he’d make you something to eat. You’d requested something different each night, and each night you’d spoken to him a little more. Some nights you were in a better mood than others, but he quickly realised it wasn’t personal against him.
He found he was a little disappointed when he woke up that afternoon and remembered that it was his day off. If he was being honest with himself, he’d grown to enjoy your company. Something about you intrigued him, made him want to get to know you more.
Frankie spent getting stuff together for poker night with the boys. It was his turn to host, so all he had to do was make sure that his dining room table was clear and his portable speaker was charged.
While he got ready, his mind kept wandering back to you.
He thought of the way you had a different smile for certain customers. The truly genuine one was reserved for only a select few of your favourites. He felt himself hoping that one day you’d give him one of those smiles, instead of the one that didn’t really reach your eyes and disappeared quickly.
He thought of how when the diner was quiet, you’d lean against the counter and sip your coffee, your gaze firmly out the window.
He thought of how when your shift ended and you checked your phone, your face would change for just a fraction of a second before you’d say goodbye and rush out the door.
Jesus fucking Christ, he thought, do I have a crush?
Frankie hadn’t had a crush since high school, when he had finally had the guts to ask out Portia Inglewood. That relationship had lasted until he left the military, and brought all the emotional baggage with him.
A loud banging on the door knocked him out of his thoughts.
“Cat!” Benny didn’t wait for Frankie to open the door. “We’re here, and we have beer!”
“You know where it goes,” Frankie called back.
Santi grinned at his best friend and handed him a beer. “How’s the new job?”
“It’s exactly what I need right now,” Frankie told him. Santi nodded in understanding. They all had their own ways of dealing with what they carried. “Plus, the extra cash doesn’t hurt.”
Frankie didn’t want money - he had plenty from when he’d do private jobs with Santi. If he ever became desperate, he knew he could just join Santi on his next job.
“Well, extra cash or not, I’ll always be the hottest person you’ve ever worked with,” Santi winked, making Frankie roll his eyes.
“Keep telling yourself that if it makes you feel better, man.” Frankie laughed.
The night progressed in a haze of pizza and beer and poker. Will lost money to Tom, and Tom promptly lost it all to Benny. Santi told the group about the new girl he was seeing, some French expat over stateside for a few months. Benny double checked everyone was coming to the fight next weekend. Tom revealed that he and the girls were moving to Ohio to be closer to Molly’s parents. The boys promptly began planning a going away party, which would basically just be another poker night but with more beer and possibly a cake.
Any worries Frankie held seemed to melt away on nights like these. At one point, he briefly wondered what you were doing and if you were thinking of him too. Yep. Definitely a crush.
~*~
You didn’t like Kurt’s friends. Unfortunately, you were stuck spending your Saturday night with them crowded in your apartment, loud and disrespectful as hell. It didn’t matter to them that you’d asked time and time again could they please go outside to smoke, could they please put their beer bottles in the recycling bin, could they please not use your nice plates to do coke on.
If your grandfather could have seen you now, he would’ve called you a push-over. You hated that you had become this person - afraid to stick up for yourself in your own home. Hell, you didn’t even know at what point you’d become this person. It just seemed to happen over the five years you’d been dating Kurt.
You had lost yourself in trying to be what he wanted.
With a sigh, you sealed yourself away in the bedroom with a bag of Doritos and your phone, wishing you could call your grandfather. You still had his number in your phone. Occasionally, you’d look at it, the numbers seared into your brain.
Instead of calling the now disconnected number, you settled for messaging Sara. She was one of your only remaining friends from high school, and knew as much about your feelings as you were willing to let on. The thing was, you knew what she would say if you told her how you felt every single day. How lost, how hopeless you felt. She’d tell you to leave, forget Kurt and all the years with him, but to you it wasn’t that simple.
Part of you still loved him, despite everything, and that part remained hopeful that you and Kurt could fix the fractures in your relationship. Plus, a voice in the back of your head told you he was right when he said he was the only one who could ever love you.
Being alone, unloved, was one of your deepest fears.
This was one of the nights you actually missed being at the diner. You missed the lemon scented countertops, the radio that seemed to be permanently set on the oldies station, hell, you even missed Frankie and his amazing food. He’d been working with you less than a week but he had already wedged himself into your stomach. But, it was just two more nights until you were back there. It struck you that this was the opposite of how most people thought. No one you knew actually wished to go back to work.
It was almost dawn when you were woken out of your half sleep by Kurt stumbling into the room.
“Baby,” he slurred, crawling into bed beside you. “Baby, I love you.”
“I love you too,” you mumbled, moving over so he could fit in the bed easier. He reeked of sweat and booze.
“I’m sorry,” he planted a sloppy kiss on your neck. “I really try to be good.”
“I know,” you ran your fingers over his head. He liked his hair cropped short, in an almost military like style. “I try too.”
“Can we go back to how we were?” Kurt continued kissing you, his hands moving drunkenly over your body. You bit back a sigh, knowing where this was heading.
You decided it would be easier to let him do what he needed, despite how badly you wanted to sleep. The only saving grace was you knew Kurt would only last a couple of minutes before it would be over.
~*~
“So, what’s the new guy like?” Manny asked. You were seated outside, at one of his favourite cafes. The sun shone down warmly on you both, brightening your mood.
“I like him, I think,” you said. “He’s nice, quiet.”
“And pretty cute, right?” Manny wriggled his eyebrows.
“I hadn’t noticed,” you lied. Of course you had noticed. It was impossible not to notice.
“Don’t feed me bullshit, I can tell when you’re lying.”
“Ugh, fine. He’s good looking. But that doesn’t mean anything.”
“That’s the thing lover, it only means something if you want it to.” Manny took a conspiratorial sip of his drink. “And I didn’t get a gay vibe from him.”
“Oh good, because the only thing holding me back from jumping his bones in the kitchen is that I didn’t know his sexual preference.” You rolled your eyes, deciding to quickly change the subject. “Anyway, how’s the new job?”
“I’m loving it!” Manny lit up. “Everyone says teenagers are the worst group to teach, but it’s like they forget middle school exists.”
You smiled at Manny’s happiness. It thrilled you to see someone you considered your best friend so happy. If anyone deserves the whole world, you thought, it’s him. But he wasn’t going to let you change the subject that easily.
“You know, maybe you could invite Frankie to one of our lunches,” Manny said slyly. “It could be a night crew thing.”
“That would mean inviting the weekenders,” you reminded him. Manny held a grudge against the weekend crew, but you could never figure out why.
“No, weeknight crew only. Come on, lover, it could be fun! Plus, I want to get to know my replacement a bit better. Make sure I’m not handing the spatula to someone I don’t approve of.” Manny pouted and switched on his puppy dog eyes.
“Ugh, fine, I’ll ask,” you conceded, “but don’t be surprised if he says no. The man probably has a life.”
“It can’t hurt to ask though, and I will bother you about it until you have an answer.”
“What are you planning?” You knew that look all too well.
“Just on making a new friend,” Manny said innocently. “Lover, you can never have enough friends.”
At that moment your phone buzzed with a text from Kurt.
Where r u?????
You grimaced and sent a quick reply, hoping it wouldn’t lead to what it usually did.
At lunch with Manny from work. I’ll be home in a couple hours, do you want anything?
“Why don’t you just break up with him?” Manny asked, watching you carefully.
Is he the gay 1?
Yes, you met him and his husband last year.
“It’s complicated,” you said. You didn’t have anywhere to go. You were terrified of being alone. Part of you still felt like you could salvage what you had. The one and only time you had tried to break up with him, he had threatened to kill himself if you left.
“You deserve better than that,” Manny said. You remained silent, not sure if he was right. “You’ve been unhappy for ages now.”
“I’m happy!” You protested.
“No you aren’t. Don’t fucking lie to me. You’re miserable with that douche bag, even James agrees.”
“I haven’t seen James in months! How the hell would he know!” You were getting defensive, but you still managed to keep your voice lowered.
“Lover, I talk that man's ear off every chance I get. Because I love him. Because he likes to hear me talk about my day and the people important to me.”
“I’m important to you?”
Manny rolled his eyes and threw his napkin at you. “Of course you are, you’re a sister to me. Stop trying to change the subject.”
“What subject!” You scoffed.
“The subject of you for some reason wanting to stay in a relationship with a man who makes you miserable,” Manny’s voice softened and he gently held one of your hands. The gesture almost made you tear up with its gentleness. You merely shrugged.
“Like I said, it’s complicated.”
Manny nodded. “Just please think about it, for real. I couldn’t sleep at night if I never said anything to you about it.”
The walk home was slow, you took your time to sort out your scrambling thoughts. Manny had offered to drive you, but it was a nice day, and you wanted to enjoy the sunshine. You pushed the issue of Kurt to the side, knowing either way the outcome would be the same unless you magically grew a spine and a few extra zeros in your bank account.
Instead, you thought about Frankie and how best to ask him to Sunday lunch. Honestly, if there was going to be a night shift tradition, it just felt downright rude to not at least extend an invite. And if Frankie said yes, well, that was even better. It was like Manny said - an opportunity to make a new friend. Just a friend.
So why did your stomach flip at the thought?

Ryuu to Sobakasu no Hime (Belle) Novel | English Translation | Chapter 3
Tumblr media
**This is a machine translation. I put it together by extracting text page-by-page from a .pdf version of the Japanese novel, and running it through Google translate. I have only minorly edited some of the more confusing lines to make it more read-able. It is still a very rough translation, but it’s good enough to understand what’s going on. If there is anyone out there who wants to properly translate the novel, I am more than happy to edit it, if you’ll contact me.**

Chapter 3: Memory
"Mother."
"What is it, Suzu?"
When I called, my mother turned around and replied.
Eleven years ago. The house was still new. There was no garage yet, and potted flowers were lined up all over the garden. "Do not cut my hair."
I told her that and ran down the slope in front of my house. Mom walked down the stairs opposite her, resting her hand on her waist and waiting. I ran away in the opposite direction, bouncing, saying that I would never let my hair be cut. But I was taken back without a hitch. She was seated on a bench in the garden and dressed in a haircut cape. “I’m going to make you look cute, Suzu.” After cutting my hair, I don't like the tingling of my hair. She shook her legs and sharpened her lips. But when she held the scissors without hesitation, she cut my hair all at once. "Because you’re going to be an elementary school student," I hope the hair on both sides doesn't stick to my shoulders. The bangs were far above the eyebrows. Even when I went to school, my neck was tingling for a while.
I played a lot with my mother. I took a sumo wrestling on the lawn of the riverbed in the evening. I pushed her by force and my mother rolled on the grass. I won, I laughed happily. Mother also laughed. I asked why? Won’t she cry if she loses? Mom shook her head. “I'm glad that the weak Suzu has become stronger.” Dad was laughing while lying on the grass. My mother often made salted seared meat. She lightly sprinkles salt and roasts the bonito stabbed on a gold skewer from her lenticel over an open flame on the stove. I was staring from the top of the chair. Since the fat drips, the microwave oven will not get dirty if you bake it while sucking it with cooking paper. When it gets burnt, dip it in ice water to cool it, and then drain it. It was a style. So as a kid, I had a hard time holding a thick piece of salted meat with chopsticks, and I had a hard time putting it in my mouth. Mom was waiting for dad's return, holding a mug and watching my struggle.
My dad was a salaryman at that time, and he wore a tie and went out to the city every day. Perhaps because of that, we had some money in our house in the old days. Mother bought a state-of-the-art smartphone at the time. I decided to try out the performance of the on-board camera, and on dad's lap, I pointed my smartphone at my mom. I asked dad to help put mom in the frame and pressed the shutter. She is dressed in white.
The smiling mother, she was beautiful. The photo of her was printed on paper and is still at the house. I was a cheerful child running around, unlike now. I definitely liked playing outside rather than inside the house. If there were trees, I climbed, if there were leaves, I tore them, and if there were insects, I chased them. But it didn't burn in the sun. I must have been such a constitution. Instead, my face is freckled.
I was often injured. My knee was also full of scratches. In the woods, on the riverbed, on the slope in front of my house, I often stumbled and fell. My mother ran up in a hurry and she hugged me tightly, crying in pain. Mysteriously, it hurts somewhere. That's when I was happy. I don't know how many times I fell because I ran around vigorously and wanted mother to hug me. Every time mother rushed in as if it was a big deal for her daughter and worried. Every day was like summer vacation. I clung to mother doing the laundry and cleaning and played. After lunch, she opened the tatami mat, laid a summer futon on the tatami mats, and we took a nap together. The smoke of the mosquito coil was rising slowly. When I woke up, most of the time, I couldn't see my mother sleeping next to me, and she was busy doing housework. In retrospect, she never been told me that she is busy. She was always with me when I asked for it. Since my house was in the mountains, I rarely went out to eat somewhere, and instead my mother cooked any kind of food. One day she saw it in a picture book, and she said she wanted to eat yakitori. She had never eaten it before. My mother made yakitori by sticking chicken on skewers one by one. For the first time in my life, I saw yakitori with the naked eye. I didn't know how to eat it, so I couldn't do well by chewing the meat and removing it from the skewers. Dad and mom were staring at me. Never missing what her daughter experiences for the first time in her life. The place where we, who live in the mountains, go out to play is not an amusement park or a shopping mall, but a campsite further in the mountains from our house.
On a sunny summer day, my mom and I wore a wide-brimmed hat and crossed the subsidence bridge. Dad was carrying a lot of camping equipment. The water crystal pool in the depths of the Yasui Valley was a breathtaking blue color even for us living in the area. The water is so transparent that you can clearly see your shadow on the bottom of the river. I feel a little scared as if I were floating in the air. My mother was an advanced swimmer. She boasted that her mother, who was once a local kid, swam like a kappa every day in the summer. She knew all about the fun of the river. At the same time, she never let her swim in dangerous places on dangerous days. Mom wraps around me, floating. She dived into the water to show her off her skills. Still picked up by her, I became anxious and called out. “Mom, don't go.” But mom, she swam in the blue water, as if she couldn't hear me.
One evening, I was playing with my mother's smartphone and saw a strange app. I put it on. When you launch the app, you'll see white and black horizontal stripes lined up. I pointed to what this was and asked my dad who was next to me. Dad looked it and twisted his neck, calling mother, who was preparing dinner. After dinner, mother's hand fixed the smartphone I was holding vertically. I laid it down and found it to be a piano keyboard. As prompted, I pressed one of the keys. There was a "do" sound. I looked at my mother's face. My mother also saw my face, saying that she had come out. It's mom’s music production app. Only then did I look around my mother's room and notice. Old records, cassette tapes, and CDs are lined up on the shelves to the end. And if you set them on a record player or cassette deck and pass them through an amplifier, music will be played from the left and right speakers. The collection was a brilliant one that accurately captured the main points of the history of classical, jazz and rock. I didn’t know at the time, the value and meaning of such a lineup being packed in a room at the end of the world.
In that room, I pressed the keys of the app one after another and recorded. When played, each sound sounds in the order in which they are arranged. Even if you enter an insane scale, it will play back in a lawful manner. I was so happy that I bounced on my chair. My mother was laughing too. Warm incandescent light was illuminating us. After that, I was crazy about this app. I had my mother lend me a smartphone and I was playing around with it day, night and morning. The operation was intuitive and easy to use. There were words that I couldn’t read because it wasn’t a children's app. And there were many functions I didn't understand. But I was absorbed in that kind of thing. I was completely absorbed in the exciting new experience of writing songs. I composed a number of songs and previewed them in front of my mother. The mother who finished listening gave me advice in short words each time. If you do xxx, it will be better, or the trick is to do xxx. She sometimes took out some of the records in the collection and listened to them for reference. My mother is neither a musician nor a composer.
Tumblr media
I think each piece of advice is accurate even if I look back on it now. Over and over again, she listened to my melody, and she said she noticed something, and she sang herself to make sure it was. When I asked, she said it wasn't bad. She said she was smirking at me as she said. I put the sound in a place that I wouldn't normally put it. I'm sure this song was a failure, and all the work I've done so far will be ruined. But as it gradually takes shape, it seems strangely cohesive, she said. I felt as happy as I wanted to. I'm sure it's my parents' favor, but even if my mother added, I was happy. For me, I'm not making it with the intention of letting someone else listen to it. It would have been nice if only my mother could listen to it. My mother sings along with the song I typed in. Take the tempo with her right hand and sing gently. The voice of mother, who was also a member of the chorus made by her friends, echoed and was transparent.
She listened to my weird songs many times. I was happy and sang along with it. Anyway, it’s a song that is as nice as my mother.
I couldn't. Happy memories of me and mother suddenly end here. And that August has come. After this, all I have is a painful, painful memory. The voice of a little girl crying and crying echoed in the riverbank. A girl was left alone on a sandbar. Is she 4 or 5 years old? She looked smaller than I was. It was so sunny just a while ago, but I noticed it wasn't a blue sky, and it was covered with overcast clouds. The beautiful and calm river was cloudy, flooded, driftwood-filled, and surprisingly fast. I can imagine that it is raining heavily upstream. Before this happened, there were people happily making noise on the opposite bank when the flow was still transparent. They are now staring at the girl on this shore. She wore colorful outdoor clothing that made it easy to see that she probably came from the city, not a local. The girls' clothes were also bright colors that I had never seen. Why did people from the city overlook the girls' flashy colored clothes? Why did she forget her existence and she came back to this shore? What to do with friends, their families, and those who enjoyed fishing and canoeing on the riverbanks.
It seemed that she couldn't do anything, and she had no choice but to stand and look like a stick. It's no wonder you're standing. The violent flow of the river separated the girl from the people. Everyone realized that it couldn't be helped. One of the adults was talking to someone on his cell phone. However, everyone can see that where the girl is, is gradually narrowing. Everyone is aware that it is very unlikely that the rescue team will arrive in time. Therefore, I have no choice but to stand up without being able to do anything. Is it just listening to the girl's crying as it is? At that time, someone picked up the red life jacket beside the canoe.
I went forward while staring at the girl. She was a mother. Mommy, and I hurriedly clung to the hem of her mother's clothes. She realized that what her mother was trying to do was too dangerous. She wouldn't have been anxious. She screamed and pulled hard, trying not to let her go. Mom crouched down and squeezed my hand, and she told me something. At that time I can't remember what mother said. Maybe I was screaming and not ready to hear the words. Mom stood up to shake off my chasing and ran, locking the buckle on her life jacket. I fell down on a stone in the riverbank trying to chase her. Still, I got up and shouted at mother's back. Don't go. I think mom didn’t hear my words. While checking the girl's whereabouts, I went around the river, went into the water, and got in the stream to help. It started to rain.
How long has it passed since then? Suddenly the surroundings became noisy. The girl was rescued from the river. Adults are pulling the soaked and tired girl out of the river. I was staring at while getting wet in the rain. People running up. A mixture of joyful voices and crying voices. Are you okay? Open your eyes. I'm glad I was saved ... The girl was wearing the same red life jacket that her mother wore. At that moment, I understood at once what was happening. Mom isn’t here.
"Mother ..... Mother .....!"
I looked left and right, searching for her.
Not anywhere.
"Mother ...!"
In the distance, I heard an ambulance siren. The girl was wrapped in a blanket.
Carried by many adults, she leaves the riverbank. Everyone is crazy about it and realizes that my mom isn't there.
She isn't.
"Mom!" Only I raised my voice and kept calling. Many times. Many times. Many times. I don't remember much after that. When I heard that my mother was found all the way down the river, it seemed like a lie. It wasn't long before I realized that the mug that mother was using was missing. Dad put a picture of mother, which he took someday, in a picture frame and put it in a corner of the kitchen. He had to add flowers every day next to it. Neighbors bothered to talk to me every time I met them on the road, listened to me in a friendly way, and encouraged me with tears. Meanwhile, the Internet was flooded with anonymous posts about the accident.
"It's a suicide act to jump into a river flooded by rain"
"It seems that she was confident in swimming, but it's different from the pool."
《It is irresponsible for my child to help someone else's child and die》
《If there is an accident, playing in the river will be a nuisance and annoying》
《Because helping people is a good person, this is what happens》
The person who wrote it probably didn't know anything about the actual situation, and the day after he wrote it, he probably forgot what he wrote. However, the person who wrote it keeps sticking in my chest forever. Immediately after the accident, an acquaintance told me with resentment that it was terrible when I saw this. In front of these words, I was too young to understand all the meanings. However, as I grew up and became able to understand the meaning of the words accurately, I continued to suffer from the unconscious malice contained in them. Losing mother.
How should I pass on these writings as a bereaved family, even though I still can't accept them, as if the mother who helped me was all bad?
Aside from me, my mother just smiled in the picture frame in the kitchen. From that accident, I think something has changed decisively from what I used to be. One evening, in mother's room, where dust began to build up, I stood on her chair, hoping to return to her happy memories. And I sang the song I sang with mother. But when I started singing, I realized I couldn't sing at all. My voice became stuck in the back of my throat and couldn't get out of my mouth. I was confused. Something in my heart was suppressing me from singing. Why can't I sing? Tears came out.
Hey mom. Why can't I sing?
It was clear that the reason why singing was so fun and necessary was because my mother listened to it.
However, just because you can't sing... You don't have to worry about anything. Even if you can't sing, no one will blame you. Life just goes on. I went to a local junior high school. The jumper skirt uniform was stuffy. Many of the elementary school classmates went to the town as they went on to school, and there were not half of the students remaining in the local area, so even in junior high school, it became a compound class. Therefore, the chorus practice was accompanied by the vice-principal teacher, and it was decided to sing in all grades. There were three people in all grades. Because there were only three people, I quickly realized that I was just lip-synching without singing. I was asked why I didn't sing, but I didn't say anything. I thought they would get angry, but they didn't get angry. It means that only I can visit from the next practice.
I sat alone in a corner of the music class and watched everyone practice. I may have looked like a lethargic girl who was just silent. But inside that, there are things that can't be translated into words.
I think it was swirling. When I left school and returned home, I irresistibly entered mother's room in the twilight. The twilight light was shining through the window. Cardboard boxes containing tableware and seasonal home appliances that are no longer in use are piled up on the table. It was completely turned into a storeroom. It's been many years since then. It has passed. I listened to the large number of records there, one by one from the edge of the shelf. Days, days, days. By listening earnestly, I managed to calm my rough feelings. But one day, there was a moment when I thought I couldn't bear it anymore. Upon returning, I entered my mother's room, sat down in front of the keyboard, quickly opened the report sheet, and began to write fiercely with a pen to spit out the incomprehensible feelings in my chest. I was almost suffocating if I didn't spit it out. I turned over the paper and continued to write forever. -Why did mother leave me in the river? Why did she choose to help the child who she didn't even know her name rather than live with me? Why am I alone? Why, why, why – I added paper, supplemented with post-it notes, and wrote long, long lyrics. The scale that springs up is notated long and long. Those that were neither were spit out as pictures. It was a swirl of many kinds. It was like a whirlpool floating on the surface, like a black hole that swallowed everything, and like a hole in the top of my head. The floor of the room was filled with pieces of paper with a mixture of lyrics, pictures and sheet music. But suddenly..... I returned to myself and stopped writing. Right now, I've noticed the worthlessness, meaninglessness, ugliness, and helplessness of the words, pictures, and scales I wrote.
What are you doing? I broke the paper. Everything I've written so far.
I threw it in the trash can without hesitation. The bundle of paper looked like a vomit that I had just spit out. Then I became a high school student.
I finally found myself worthless. The uniform tie was stuffy. I crossed the subsidence bridge while looking down and went to school. I took an exam and passed the exam at a junior and senior high school in the center of the city, and transferred from high school. There, I met my childhood friend Shinobu-kun again.
"Shizu.."
"Shinobu-kun ..."
Now that I was in high school, Shinobu-kun looked tall and shining, all different. On the other hand, I didn't seem to have grown at all since then, and I was irresistibly embarrassed and couldn't even talk. What have I been doing so far? I started a new life going to the city from the mountains, but I couldn't get into studying. Even though I had a hard time taking the exam, I just looked out the window during class. Knowing that this shouldn't be the case. Club activities didn't go anywhere. There were very few such students. On the way home, you can see the students devoting themselves to club activities. The track and field club is jumping the training hurdle in a line in the courtyard. The volleyball club is running on the ground. A percussionist in the brass band with a metronome in his ear is striking a stick in the hallway. The Naginata club sits upright in the martial arts hall with a good posture, and thank you for your cooperation, saying before the practice. The first-year students of the baseball club, who have not yet been numbered, stand side by side and watch as if they are digging into the practice of their seniors. I didn't belong anywhere, so I left school quickly. It was already winter. There is a river called Kagami River that flows from east to west in the center of the city. Since the flow is often gentle, the TV tower and buildings on the opposite bank are reflected like a mirror. When I returned to the station through the road beside it, the girls of the light music club carrying the "Chahahaha" musical instrument case overtook me with a light step while laughing. A cute cat-shaped stuffed animal attached to the school bag is shaking. Attached to my school bag was a cheesy plastic plate of "Gutto Koremaru". "Gutto Koremaru" is an egg-shaped character who can poke his hand against the wall and endure the pain. I have a crack in my head, probably because I endured it too much. Of course, it's not cute.
In a dark and narrow corridor.
I resisted, "I can't do it! Hey!", But I was pulled into the room, saying "OK." The soundproof door slammed behind me. Shinboku "Ah!" There was a flashy room in a karaoke box, and the pink and purple lights were spinning mysteriously. It smells of incense. Only for girls in the class.
I heard that it was a social gathering, but when I saw the frenzy of the girls standing on the sofa and shaking their heads, I thought that I could not get into this tension very much.
"Peggie Sue is cute"
"This is the one that is popular in" U ", isn't it?" On the monitor screen on the wall, the popular Az of "U", Peggy Sue, was seen singing in a black rubber dress. Purple lipstick that shakes silver hair. An eccentric beauty with red eyes. Peggy Sue? "U"? Az? Is it popular? I don't know anything. It's like an event in a different world from me. Then, Hitomi suddenly offered a microphone, "Yes." Sing, and so on. "Huh?" Puzzled. Neither the coat nor the muffler is taken off. But "yes" the microphone was pointed again. Why for a child like me who is at the end of a class?
"Sing together?"
"Hey, sing."
The shadows of the girls press the microphones. What do you mean?
"Are you not going to sing alone?"
"Isn't it a lie that you can't sing?"
I see, so it’s this situation.
Dozens of microphones are forced against my face one after another. "Uuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuu"
"Sing"
"Hey, sing?"
"Sing"
Those voices sound like a threat.
"You're telling me to sing."
"Sing!"
"Sing!"
Ahh!
Immediately, the microphone popped off and fell to the floor.
The girls dancing on the sofa suddenly saw me. It's calming down as if I was taken aback.
"What happened? Suzu-chan"
The mic and the shadows of the girls disappeared like a phantom.
"No, nothing. I'm sorry. Hey ..."
Without saying anything, I pushed the door of the karaoke box open by force and went out like crawling. Someone might have heard and told everyone that I couldn't sing.
When I got off the bus, powder snow was flying. I almost slipped down the slope from the bus stop. Even in Kochi, it usually snows in the mountains, aside from the city. When I crossed the subsidence bridge, I heard a crackling sound of thin ice. The surface of the concrete bridge is frozen.
Cold. It's not dexterous enough to get used to everyone, and it's not divisible. On the other hand, I’m not strong enough to be alone, not prepared, and have no idea.
I don't do anything selfish. Rumors that you can't sing, that's a lie. I'm just not confident in myself for a while. I want to get along with everyone. Really. I know. Of course I know. So "Ah ... Ah ..."
In the middle of the bridge, I impulsively exhaled my voice.
"Ah ... ah ... ah ah"
As I breathed in, cold air sank into my throat. Still, I sang towards the river. "Ah..”
Did I sing? It didn't match a song. It's just a growl. The bag slipped off my shoulder. Will you forgive me if I sing? Can I get along with everyone if I sing? It doesn't help to sing alone in such a place. It's like a scream of a dead end before being crushed. Still, I sang that song with my mother with a squeezed voice. I was happy back then. It's different now. Powder snow was swirling in the flow of the river. Suddenly, in front of me it became pitch black. Nausea swelled from the back of my stomach, and I held my mouth with both hands.
"Uuuuu!"
I crouched on my knees. However, I couldn't stand the momentum of the backflowing gastric juice. I pushed my body forward and vomited towards the clear stream under the bridge. The vomit that was about to kneel and vomit fell to the surface of the water, creating a number of ripples. I spit out everything in my stomach and fell on the bridge. My hair is messed up and my mouth is smeared with gastric juice and smells. It's already spicy. I want to get rid of everything. Shivering and crying as if groaning. Drops of tears ooze on my cold cheeks and tingle. I wish I were gone.
I could hear the slight sound of powder snow folding and piled up right next to me. A notification came to the smartphone that slipped off my bag. It was a message from Hiro-chan.
<< Look at this, Suzu. It’s so amazing that I’m seriously laughing. >>

Thanks for requesting again I hope you like it @violetarks !Ok this ended longer than expected so I am going to do a part 2 with momo and Todoroki hope you don’t mind the wait.P.S this seems so familiar but I just can’t remember where or when it happened or if this is still continuing. 🤡 lmaoooo 😂
Tumblr media Tumblr media
When you started going to school in the mornings he would notice your eye bags from all the nights you couldn’t sleep. He also noticeed that you were relying on green tea or in any other sources that contained caffeine like Monster energy drinks to get through the tough day. Since he has a soft spot for you he would ask “what are those grey things under your eyes dumass!?”
The first day you told him “ooo don’t worry I just stayed all night long looking for Yarichin bitclub and I finally found it so I decided to watch it for the amazing opening , guess I got lost on the time.”Then the other days that this happened you would brush it off every day telling him “I am ok I just couldn’t sleep last night” and continued your new daily rutine. You just didn’t want to bring him into your own problems and overall you didn’t want to bother him,Since he was already busy with school and stuff.
When this continued for several weeks and close to months and he noticed that you were closed to zombie like in the tough insurance training and you weren’t as energetic and overall you he SANPED.
“Ok idiot you are sleeping in my dorm tonight!” You where shocked that he was so straight forward with what he just said. “ But Tsuki I am alright I don’t have to go to sleep to your dorm, I will be alright don’t worry about me.” The blond boy wasn’t going to fall for your cheap old lie that you have been saying for a couple of weeks now.
The day came to an end and you where chilling with the girls in the common room when they all said that it was late and they were going to bed. You all said goodnight when suddenly Bakugo appeared and dragged you to his room and locked the door. “ Tsuki what are you doing?” He just stared at you and then he said “ I am helping you sleep dumbass, what else would be doing?”
You turned the lights off and said good night to your lovely boyfriend. He looks so cute when he is sleeping. You were admiring his features and then soon you found yourself sleeping.
You woke up you thought that you had slept around 8 ours and it was time to get up and get ready for school. You tilted your head too see the time and it was 12:03 AM you were disappointed you went to bed at 9 pm you had only slept 3 hours! You stared at the ceiling for a couple of minutes but for you it felt like years.
“ Can’t sleep idiot?” a sleepy voice said. “ Hmm... wait Tsuki how did you now? Did I wake you up I am so sorry baby.” Bakugo sensed that you were awake “ I just new that you were awake,ok” he asked questions about what you usually do when you wake up at night. “ I usually try to fall back asleep but it seem impossible to do that, so I just talk to my friends on discord until I fall back to sleep from the tiredness.”
Bakugo wanting you to fall back to sleep he activated his explosive quirk and heated his hands just a tiny bit and placed them on your tummy. It felt so nice and warm to have his hands warming you up. Then he did something that he would be extremely ashamed if anyone found out. He started cuddling you your back was pressed against his build chest. That is a side of him that only you can get to see. He also started humming a sweet lullaby to help you.
You felt so warm and special, soon your eyes were closing. When you opened your eyes again you saw light coming from the window. You did it! You sleept through the night like a normal high school student! He heard little snores from your sleeping boyfriend. Gosh he looked so damm cute that you managed to get out of his grip and grasp your phone to take a cute picture of him. You were definitely making that your phone wallpaper. You also noticed that you had 50+ notifications from your friends. You where definitely reading that later to catch up with the discord chat.
When Bakugo woke up you booth got ready for school. The weekend came and Your sweet ass boyfriend had bought you one of those cute animal plushies that you put them on the microwave so they are nice and warm when you go to bed. He just tossed that seal plushy into your dorm room. When you opened the doorm you saw the plushie. You new exactly from who that came from. You went and look the giver of the gift, when you found him you gave a big bear hug and a lil kiss on his cheek. “WHAT DO YOU THINK YOU ARE DOING IDIOT!!?” You just laughed and answer “thanks for the present I love it!” He blushed which was a beautiful sight “Whatever.”
BONUS: “sawarasenai🥰kimi😸wa⛓shoujo👻na💅no?böKù🌸Wâ🧚ÿARiçHiñ🙈BįCChī😾ńO😩oSû👅Dà🎉yooooo!” You loved that intro so much that you couldn’t stop singing it even though the lyrics were dirtier that the own WAP themselves. “Y/N AS A CLASS REPRESENTATIVE I ASK YOU TO PLEASE STOP SINGING THIS VULGAR SONG” then your boyfriend came and joined the conversation “YES DUMBASS I HAVE TO AGREE WITH 4 EYES ON THIS PLEASE STOP I CANNOT GET IT OUT OF MY HEAD” Your boyfriend said in a very angry voice. You were laughing your ass of at this.
The song is down here if you want to listen to it! ⚠️WARNING ⚠️ THIS SONG IS SO ADDICTING I SANG IT IN MY ONLINE CLASES ACCIDENTALLY AND I HAD THE MICROPHONE ON ! ALSO I PLAYED THE SPANISH VERSION TO A FRIEND AS A PRANK SHE GOT MAD 😡 LMAOOO!
Tumblr media
This amazing boyfriend that you have dear reader noticed at the moment you first started drinking Monater energy drinks . Like he new that you lectured Denki on why he should stop drinking them if he wanted to have a long and healthy life free of diabetes type 2 and stuff. He looked at you and at the drink in shock , “ O this don’t worry babe I just feel tiered so I asked Denki for one don’t worry it’s just 1 drink.” He believed you he thought she just sleep bad for 1 night that’s all.
Then you weren’t paying attention to class nor hero training he got very worried for you. Or you were basically falling asleep in all the free time you had just like Aizawa sensei. You were using the day to nap for a while. Basically he noticed that your whole routine had turned upside down. You drank green tea like it was no tomorrow you sometimes did in secret because we all now that caffeine kept you going.
He went to goggle to see if he could figure out something for his tiered S/O. Since we all now that he isn’t the smartest he left that aside for a while. You told him that you were heading to bed and Kirishima did the same.
The clock hit 2:38 AM you were wide awake, you tossed and turned trying to fall back asleep. You soon gave up so you started watching complications of Nikocado Avacado and Orrin fighting because the night was long and honestly that hopeless couple mad you laugh so hard. You could spend hours just watching them fighting because it was so funny 🤣.
Your boyfriend couldn’t sleep either thinking about you. So he decided to go and chek on you and see if you were sleeping but he new that you were wide awake because his boyfriend instinct told him that. When he opened your dorm he saw the bright and white light of your computer, you where also holding back a big ass laugh so you wouldn’t wake anyone else for some reason.
You noticed you boyfriend that was standing in you dorm room half asleep. You feel really bad for him because you had worried him so much to the point he had to come and check on you like he was your parent. “Kiri baby what are you doing here?” He opens his mouth and stared talking “ Pebble you should be sleeping, let’s go down stairs and make some tea to help you sleep ok?” He ended that sentence with a big yawn.
You guys went downstairs and got yourself a nice cup of warm chamomile tea. He hoped that would help you fall asleep. “Is the tea good pebble?” He said with a sleepy voice you didn’t answer for a while you were admiring his red hair that was down, you didn’t get to see that sight very often. “Ooo sorry,yes yes it’s really nice thank you bub” you finish your tea and headed to kirishima manly room.
You both settled down on the comfortable bed. Kirishima proceeded and cuddled you. Your chest was pressed on his chest and he had his chin on top of your head. Before you tried to fall back asleep he gave you a sweet kiss on the forehead.
“Rise and shine” your lovely boyfriend said in a happy and cheerful tone! You opened your eyes and saw the red haired boy smiling at you. “Morning bub I slep well thanks to you, so thank you for the help!” “No problem pebble I am glad I could help!”
You both got ready for school and stuff. Kirishima is the type of boyfriend that buys you cute gifts because he thinks it is manly and most importantly because he thinks that you would like them. So this time your gift was a 14 pound weight blanket that was a lovely grey color.
When it was the weekend he came into your room with the blanket. You let him into your room and asked “bub why do you have that blanket?” He placed it down on your bed “since you have trouble sleeping I thought that this might help pebble.” You rushed to him and gave him a hug and a sweet kiss on the lips “thank you so much Kirishima you are the best! Also I love the gift.” Then you spent the rest of the evening enjoying each other.
BONUS: Kaminari soon found out about your heavy present. He thought why not yeet that heavy ass planet to Bakugo and make a run for your lives. Being the idiot you are you said “sure why not” Let’s just say you got a very mad Bakugo with neck pain and Iida scolding you and Kaminari and of course the rest of the Bakusquad laughing their ass off.

serim
when you chose to date serim, you knew you were taking a big risk. the two of you were constantly busy in your own ways, meaning you wouldn’t have much time to see each other. to make up for being away, you two would facetime every night or simply just text until one of you fell asleep. however, you missed being in serim’s arms more than anything. and so, with a heavy heart, you asked serim to come see you that night once he got out of practice. of course, he agreed, and show up later that night. what he was expecting was a serious conversation with you.
“hey, can we talk? i wanted to do this in person.” you started and watched as he nodded and took a seat beside you.
“of course.. what’s wrong?”
“i know we said that we could make it through anything, but being away from you has been really hard. i know you have a job to do, but it isn’t easy to be away from you all the time. i thought i could handle it, but i can’t.. i feel like it isn’t fair to you since you handle it fine.. i don’t want to be the clingy one in the relationship who feels like i can’t live without you..” you took a deep breath before going to speak again, but serim cut you off,
“what are you saying? you think i don’t miss you? i miss you all the time. you’re always on my mind.. i hold back from telling you these things because i always get scared you won’t miss me as much-”
“you think i don’t miss you?” you repeated his words back to him, “did i not just say that i miss you? i miss watching movies with you, and baking cookies for every holiday. i miss just being with you.. but this.. this is not what i meant when i said we could do this.. it thought it’d be easier than this!” your voice broke at the end and you watched as serim’s expression changed.
“y/n..” he spoke slowly, “let’s think about this and talk it out later, okay? we’re both letting our emotions get the better of us..”
you knew he was trying to be civil, he always tried to be during conflicts, but it wasn’t easy when he was right. your emotions got in the way of a lot of things that you did, it was one of the things he loved most about you. but right now you could tell it was hurting him.
“i think you need to go serim..”
“yeah.. i think i should.” his voice trailed off before he got up and made his way towards the door, not wanting to fuel the fire anymore, “goodnight.”
allen
allen was always a happy-go-lucky person. it was something you envied about him. luckily for you, he was your boyfriend, and he was always there to put you in a better mood. but right now, he was doing anything but that.
allen had invited you to come hang out with him and his friends, and you gladly accepted the offer. you wanted to meet the people that allen had spoken so highly about. the entire ride there, allen was telling stories about things that he and his friends had done, and you had to admit, they did sound like a lot of fun. this made you more excited to meet them.
unfortunately for you, the people allen had described to you were not the same people you met. the kind people he had told you about were nowhere to be found as they started to make crude and inappropriate jokes. of course, allen was telling them to cut it out and tone it down, but that was the most that he did. eventually, you were sick of the jokes and decided to ask allen to leave,
“what? no way, you said you wanted to meet them for the longest time.. can’t you just stay a little longer?” he begged, talking loudly over the music that was playing.
“no, allen, i’m not comfortable here! these people are not the same ones you told me about..” you grabbed your bag and slung it over your shoulder.
“they are too the people i told you about! this is how they always are.. why can’t you give them a chance? i’ll tell them to stop.” he tried to reason with you, knowing he wasn’t doing a very good job.
“i did give them a chance.. and they should have listened to you the first time you asked them to stop.. if these are the people you hang out with, then i don’t know you at all! you can stay, but i’m going home..” you spun around to leave, hearing allen calling after you.
allen knew he should have stopped you, but he valued both you and his friends and didn’t want to hurt anyone’s feelings. though, it was clear now that he did hurt someone’s feelings, and they were yours.
jungmo
you and jungmo had started dating a few months before christmas, and your family had decided to throw a party this year. they told you to bring jungmo so he could get to know the family, and you happily agreed. jungmo was over the moon excited to meet your family, no indication of being nervous on his face. no matter how many times you asked him about being nervous, he said he wasn’t worried.
this rang true when you got to your parents’ house. jungmo held conversations with everyone he ran into, each one flowing effortlessly. since he was getting on with people so well, you decided you could leave him on his own while you went and greeted people in your own way.
you had only been away from jungmo for a few minutes when you heard his laugh, along with many others, ring through the room. making your way over, you wanted to see what everyone was laughing about. what you didn’t expect was for you to be the butt of the joke.
“i know, i mean, i told y/n their shirt wasn’t that cute but-..” jungmo fell silent upon seeing you in the group surrounding him.
“what?” you spoke angrily, “you told me this was your favorite shirt of mine.”
“i’m just making conversation! it’s a joke.” he explained but you were having none of it.
“no, jungmo, the joke was me bringing you here.” you stormed away, leaving the once cheerful room in silence.
he followed behind you, catching you when you were standing alone on the back deck. he stared at you for a few minutes, trying to find the words to say. you took notice, and decided to spare him his words,
“i bring you to meet my family and you completely embarrass me. that’s humiliating, you know. they probably think i let you walk all over me now! today was not supposed to go like this, i mean, how am i supposed to trust you? do you talk shit behind my back every time i leave you alone?”
“no! no, i don’t.. please understand, i was just trying to make people laugh- i know i shouldn’t have joked about you but someone brought up your shirt and i just agreed without thinking! you have to believe me. i’m sorry..” he was tripping over his own words at this point just trying to make you understand.
“i can’t forgive you right now.. i just need time.” you spoke quietly, “i need time to think. can you just.. go somewhere else?”
jungmo nodded and ducked back inside, his heart feeling heavy as he realized now how badly he had messed up.
woobin
you came home after a long day of work, just wanting to go to sleep. upon walking in the door, you heard noise from the kitchen. thinking nothing of it, you went to your bedroom and changed into pajamas before climbing into bed. once your head hit the pillow, you fell asleep almost right away. your slumber only lasted about an hour though, since you woke up to your boyfriend, woobin, shaking you awake. you went to yell at him for waking you, but the look on his face had you feeling concerned.
“what’s wrong? is something happening?” you asked as you sat up, wiping your eyes.
“are you forgetting something?” he raised an eyebrow at you, causing you to start racking your brain.
after several seconds of you saying nothing, woobin scoffed, “today is our anniversary.. i spent all day cooking a meal for when you came home, but instead you walked into our bedroom without and word and fell asleep.”
realization hit you and your words started pouring out, “baby, i am so sorry, i was just so tired from work.. i had a terrible day, my boss was being a bitch.. you know how it is, and things are hard-”
“you think i’m not tired? i was working all day too. i worked ten times harder so i could get done early and come home to surprise you with a meal.. are you even going to say thank you?” he tilted his head, waiting for you to say something.
“of course i’m thankful, but you don’t have to get so mad at me! people forget things all the time! i messed up, what else do you want me to say?”
woobin took a deep breath. he knew he was overreacting, but he couldn’t help but think you were being selfish. he started thinking carefully about his words before opening his mouth to speak again.
“dinner is in the microwave. your favorite.. if it’s cold, warm it up for two minutes.” he mumbled before walking out of the bedroom and into his office, where he slammed the door behind him. he figured it was better to cool off before seeing you again.
wonjin
it started off as a joke. you and wonjin had been taking playful jabs at each other all night, all in good fun. although, after a while, it was less about fun and teetering on the edge of insulting each other.
“i hate that you don’t wash the dishes.”
“i hate that you never want to do the laundry.”
“yeah? well i hate your nagging. it’s annoying.” wonjin’s last statement seemed to be the final straw for you.
“if i’m so annoying then play this game by yourself.” you stood up, not knowing why it was this of all things that got you riled up.
“baby, wait.. i didn’t mean to call you annoying, it just..”
“slipped out?” you cut him off, “things that slip out are still things you were thinking about.”
wonjin looked guilty. the small smirk that was once on his face had disappeared, a frown in its place. he didn’t say anything for a few minutes. neither of you did. you didn’t know how you ended up in this position when it all started as a little game. the silence was unbearable, so you opted for leaving the living room and sitting in the bedroom. moments after leaving the room, you heard the familiar calling sound of facetime, and moments later, you heard serim’s voice faintly.
“i messed up.. i really messed up,” wonjin started to talk, explaining the situation to serim. you decided not to listen, putting on some music to drown them out so you didn’t have to think about everything right in that moment.
minhee
in private, minhee was all for kisses and cuddles. around his friends, he was a whole new person. you were lucky if he would even hold your hand when his friends were around. you didn’t mind though, you knew he wanted to keep a certain image around his friends for whatever reason. as dumb as you thought it was, you respected his wishes.
one day, minhee came home while you were working on homework. running out to greet him, you failed to notice his friends behind him as you pulled him into your embrace.
“hi baby, how was your..” you paused once you noticed his friends looking at the two of you.
“baby?” one of minhee’s friends laughed, “i didn’t think you’d be one of those people, dude.”
minhee looked down at you with an unreadable expression as you pulled away from him. neither of you said anything to each other, minhee only spoke to his friends.
“today isn’t a good day.. i think you guys should go home, alright?” he mumbled and watched as his friends left as quickly as they had arrived.
once they had disappeared out the door, minhee turned to you once again.
“are you serious? you knew they were supposed to come over today! god, do you even listen to the things i tell you? do i even matter to you?” he exploded, his eyebrows furrowed.
“i-i forgot! how am i supposed to remember everything? i was so caught up in my homework that i was excited to see you! for a distraction! and if course i listen to you, and of course you matter! i’m just having an off day!” your explanation seemed to mean nothing to minhee as he walked past you.
“you’re not seriously mad, are you?” you followed behind him, grabbing his hand to make him look at you, “can we talk about this?”
“not right now, okay? i need to think..” he said calmly which, to be honest, was more concerning then when he was yelling.
 you didn’t question him any further, watching as he disappeared into the kitchen.
hyeongjun
walking into class early in the morning, the last thing you expected was to see your boyfriend, hyeongjun, flirting with somebody else. someone had taken your usual seat beside your boyfriend and was laughing over-dramatically at things he was saying. your classmates looked at you in confusion, wondering why you weren’t saying anything. however, deep down, you hoped that hyeongjun would ask the person beside him to leave, but it was clear that he wouldn’t be doing that any time soon. rather than causing a scene, you sat beside your best friend minhee, who happened to be sitting right in front of hyeongjun.
“y/n?” you heard hyeongjun behind you, but instead continued a conversation with minhee about the homework from last night.
after a whole class of avoiding hyeongjun, he finally caught up to you in the halls.
“what?” you asked, “wouldn’t you rather go walk with your new seatmate?”
“what? no! what are you talking about? i was just being nice to them.” he pleaded, “i didn’t want to be mean by telling them to move away..”
“well it didn’t look like you wanted them to leave anyways.” you kept up the wall you had built, “i have to go. minhee and i have to use this study period to work on our project..”
“can we talk about it after school, then? please? i hate when you’re upset with me.” he kept trying as you walked away, a frown on his lips when you didn’t reply to him.
taeyoung
it was your birthday and taeyoung was finally coming to see you after a long time of being apart. he had taken this day off specifically to see you, and was supposed to be on his way any minute.
minutes turned into hours and soon it was almost 10pm. taeyoung was supposed to be at your apartment seven hours ago. feeling defeated, you pulled your phone out and texted taeyoung to ask if he was ever going to show up.
↳ to taeyoung : are our plans still on?
after sending the text, you had decided to change into pajamas since you figured taeyoung was probably not coming. it broke your heart to think that he would have forgotten your birthday, but you knew that he was busy now that he was an idol. however, this didn’t stop the anger from bubbling up in your chest. it boiled over when you heard your doorbell ring at a quarter to eleven. when you opened the door, taeyoung was standing there. he opened his mouth to speak, but you didn’t want to hear it.
“where were you? what were you doing all day? no calls, no texts, nothing. what could you have possibly been up to?” you interrogated him right away, not even moving to let him inside yet.
“i got called in for an emergency meeting and i got so caught up that i.. forgot! i forgot, okay? jungmo asked if i wanted to go shopping and i said yes.. so i lost track of time..”
“we’ve had this planned for months! you promised you’d be here. you’ve never broken a promise before, so why now?” you watched his face drop.
“i’m sorry..” he pulled the flowers he had for you out from behind his back, “will you at least take these?”
taking the flowers, you nodded your head, “you can come in, but it’s not going to be very fun.”
taeyoung loved you too much to just leave, so he took your invitation to come in, even if it meant you wouldn’t look at him almost the whole time.
seongmin
you and seongmin had just finished your homework and were now standing in front of the tv in your living room. you two had decided to play just dance, which might not have been the best idea on your part considering he was a professional dancer. nonetheless, you decided to go along with your plan to play. you played song after song, but you never even came close to beating seongmin. that was until your final song, when you were finally in the lead. right as you were about to win, you felt seongmin’s arm hit yours, making you miss the move. ultimately, you lost the round in the last few seconds. seongmin cheered in victory as you plopped down on the couch with a frown on your face. seongmin looked at you, his happy expression changing to match yours.
“what’s wrong? are you okay?” he asked, sitting beside you.
“i’m fine.” you shrugged.
“don’t be a sore loser, y/n! i’ll let you win the next one!” he tried to cheer you up, clearly not understanding why you were upset in the first place.
“i would have won if you didn’t hit my arm!” you pouted at him, “i was so excited and now it isn’t fun anymore..”
“come on,” he whined, “i didn’t mean it! i’ll even buy you ice cream!”
“and a cookie?”
“and a cookie,” he chuckled, “come on.”

(Continues under the read more! And I’m sorry if this is bad, it’s a little rushed!)
(Trigger warning for vague suicide/death mention, please don’t proceed if that is triggering and please take care of your mental health!! Tell me if I need to tag anything else🖤)
Louis couldn't quite tell if it was raining or not, only vaguely managing to hear the tapping against the glass, any hope of quickly checking was destroyed by the existence of the closed curtains. It could be tree branches tapping against the glass, maybe a bird. He couldn't find it in himself to get up quite yet, he didn't have a reason to.
The door was quickly shut, that was one thing he could be sure of just by hearing it. The familiar jingling of keys that lasted a little too long, his roomate clearly struggling to close it again, confirmed this.
"I'm home!" They called out to him.
They always did tell him, he was thankful for that. He wasn't sure why he was, maybe someone acknowledging his existence was something he missed after all these years of being esentially alone.
They walked into the living room, looking at him laying on the couch, his face hidden by hair that he couldn't get himself to move away. They poked his calf lightly, trying to make sure they had his attention and he wasn't asleep.
"Will you help me pack away groceries?" They asked quietly, not quite sure if he was awake or not.
He supposed he now had a reason to get up. He nodded, mustering up every ounce of motivation he had and forcing himself to sit up. He was exhausted, not for any particular reason. He had gotten enough sleep last night, but everything just seemed almost like it was ten times harder than usual.
He floated towards them, not wanting to actually put the effort in needed to walk. He saw that they had 4 plastic bags in their hands, each more or less full of different things that they wanted and/or needed. He didn't realise they had been out for so long, it only seemed like a couple minutes but clearly not.
"Here," They handed him two of the bags, "Thank you for helping, these are really heavy,"
"Mmhm, you're welcome."
He hadn't been in the kitchen for a while, he only really ever went in there when he wanted to talk to his roommate. He noted that they had gotten a new microwave at some point, he couldn't remember when. He seemed to forget a lot, days would always blur together and details - even big events - would be lost within his mind.
His roommate bounded in after him, dropping their bags on the kitchen table. The table hadn't changed from when Louis lived there, alive. A lot of the house was different, mostly only his room and the attic remaining the same, except the attic had gained a thick layed of dust on everything. Or so he assumed it had, he never went up there.
He snapped himself out of his imagination, realising that he was just staring at the floor with bags in his hands. He had been doing that a lot recently, more than when he was alive.
"Louis, are we friends?" His roommate spoke up, out of nowhere.
"I think so? I don't really know. Never really had them." He responded. The last time he had afriend was when he was back in school, and it had been a long time since that.
"What do you do when I'm out? The TV is never on, you're always awake when I come back, but nothing really seems different. Are you alright?"
"I don't have much of a reason to get up or do anything, so I mostly just lay there. Sometimes I try to remember things, maybe end up remembeing something I did when alive and regret my entire existence. Like how I have the permanent memory of getting rejected because, of course, that just had to be one I remember." He shuddered a little as the memory replayed in his mind.
They tapped his shoulder, gently. Handing him a sweater that they clearly bought for him. He held it in his hands, it was pretty soft for an item of clothing that was just bought, usually he had to wear it a couple times until it wa comforable.
"It's Winter, it's always freezing when I come back so I got you it, I worry about you sometimes. But do you remember anything else?"
"Thank you? But not much. Vague memories of a child, can't remember if they were mine or not. I went to college, can't remember what for though. I can't remember my parents, any possible siblings or lovers, no one." He was as honest as he could be, he didn't like to say he remembered his death because, in truth, he didn't remember it all that well.
"We'll find out about them, I'll help you! I'm sure we can find your bith certificate or something! Maybe it's in the attic, I'll go searching, alright?" His roommate suddenly got energetic, basically bouncing in place.
He side-eyed them as he finished packing away the last of the things that needed to go in the kitchen. There was still a couple things like new clothes and new blankets that would be placed elsewhere in the house.
However, currently, they seemed stubborn in helping first, and he knew it was basically useless to fight against them when it came to things like this.
"Suppose it can't hurt to try." He sighed.

“Yes, Grandma, I will be bringing my boyfriend with me.” You said softly, holding your phone between your ear and your shoulder as you folded clothes and placed them into your overnight bag. “Yes, he’s very handsome, of course. His name? It’s uh-”
Steve walked into the view of your doorway, knocking on the door frame softly, his eyebrow raised at you.
“It’s Steve. Yes, Steve. Cute, right? Listen, I have to go, but I will call you when we are on our way, okay?” You gave Steve a slight wave as you straightened up, holding the phone away from your face. “Love you too. Bye.”
You let out a heavy sigh, tossing your phone on the bed before turning to Steve.
“You think I’m cute?” He asked, a chuckle escaping his lips.
“Ew, as if.” You turned away, starting to fold your clothing once again. “I know you didn’t come here to eavesdrop on me and my grandmother. What do you want?”
“Well, this handsome man-”
“I never called you handsome.”
“I came here to inform you that everyone has left for the holidays, so this wing of the compound is about to be very cold since Tony wants to save electricity while everyone is out for the week.”
“Are you leaving, Steve?”
“No, I don’t have any plans. I just thought I’d stay here. Why?”
“How would you like to attend Christmas Eve dinner with my family?” You asked, turning to him with a glowing smile on your face.
“What’s the catch?”
Steve crossed his arms over his chest, leaning against the door frame as he studied the look on your face, attempting to read your expression as your smile fell slightly.
“Why would there be a catch?”
“Oh, come on, Y/n, you never do acts of kindness without something in return.”
You scoffed. “That is so not true! I do nice things all the time.”
“Yesterday, you gave me the extra burrito you had gotten at Chipotle and didn’t finish and then five minutes later, I got your Venmo request for the apparent four dollars and seventy-eight cents I ate.”
You laughed. “I only do that stuff to you cause it’s funny, but I didn’t think you’d hold a grudge about it.”
“It’s not a grudge-” Steve sighed and rolled his eyes. “Enough about yesterday. What is the catch in coming to meet your family?”
You zipped up your bag and looked at him sheepishly.
“I hope you’re a good actor because you have to pretend to be my boyfriend.”
Steve let out a laugh and shook his head. “I’d rather be alone on the holiday than pretend to be your boyfriend.”
“You forgot to say ‘no offense.’”
“No, I hope you do take offense. I’m not going and I hope you’re bothered.”
“I am! Steve, come on! I already told my grandmother you were coming. Please, I will do anything if you do me just this one favor.”
Steve raised a brow. “Really?”
You raised your hand and nodded. “Really. Scout’s honor.”
“You weren’t even a scout.”
“Uh, yeah, I was. I was a girl scout for like three years.” You argued. “Which is something you should know as my boyfriend.”
“I am not about to learn your life’s story just to be your fake boyfriend.”
“Yes, you are. We have a four hour drive ahead of us.” You replied, slinging your bag over your shoulder and slipping past him. “Now, let’s go get you some clothes and get the hell out of here. It’s already getting cold.”
“I think I can dress myself.”
“No you can’t.”

“I hate this sweater.” Steve stated, tugging at the woven fabric as he shifted in his seat.
“Oh my god, shut up about the sweater! It looks nice!”
“It’s so stiff and itchy. There’s a reason it was in the back of my closet.”
“Could you sound anymore like a child?” You snapped. “Also, when I said we were driving, I was hoping you’d get behind the wheel.”
Steve crossed his arms over his chest as you glanced away from the road and at him.
“Well, you’re the one who kidnapped me, so you have to drive. It’s only fair.”
“I didn’t even kidnap you! You came willingly.”
“That was before you made me wear this sweater!” Steve groaned, sinking into the car seat slightly. “It was also before I found out when you said you’d do anything for me in return, that meant you’d only wash my car and nothing else.”
“I don’t know why you expected me to willingly do paperwork for the next four days!”
“Because you said you’d do anything!”
“Ugh! We both know I’m liar!”
“You’ve got that right.”
You sighed heavily, moving your hands on the steering wheel. “I don’t know why I even asked you to do this. I should’ve asked Vision. At least he knows my last name.”
“I know your last name.”
“When I asked you what my last name was, you said Gatsby!”
“I know it now.” Steve corrected himself. “And of course Vision knows your last name! He’s a machine! Like a microwave!”
“I’d rather have a microwave who knows my last name as a fake boyfriend.”
“You’re the worst.”
“Speak for yourself.”
“Do you even know my last name?” Steve challenged, turning down the music that was playing on the stereo.
“It’s Rogers.”
“Oh, so you do know.”
“Yeah, I do know.” You scoffed, leaning forward and turning the music back up. “How about we just sit and listen to music for the last thirty minutes of this car ride?”
Steve turned down the music again and looked over at you. “I don’t even know what I’m supposed to say if your family asks how we met.”
“Easy. Just say we met at work.”
“Wouldn’t that be weird? Since I’m your boss?”
“Actually, Fury is my boss. You’re just like the one coworker who thinks he’s the manager when the manager isn’t there.”
“I am not!”
“Newsflash, asshole, you’ve been on the same playing field as us all the whole time!”
“Language.”
“Who are you? My father?” You refrained from rolling your eyes. “Let’s just get this story straight and we’ll worry about your old man attitude later.”
“I’m going to pretend you didn’t say that last part.”
“Anyway,” You started, “we will just say that we met at work and we’ve only been dating a few months now, but I’m bringing you because you don’t have any family to see on the holidays.”
“Oh, so I’m the sad orphan you’re saving? That’s the lie we’re going with?”
“Are you dying of fucking dementia, grandpa?” You asked, the sarcasm thick in your voice. “I literally didn’t make up a lie, it was all true!”
“Oh. Right.”
“Yeah. Just tell the truth, you know, minus the part where we are not dating.” You insisted. “And try to remember my last name, for the love of God.”
“It’s Y/l/n, I know. I’m never going to live this down, am I?”
“Never. Now you can see why when I said I’d do anything, I wasn’t going to do just anything.”
Your phone buzzed in the cup holder between you and you reached your hand down to grab it, instead grabbing something else soft and warm. You pulled your hand away, glancing over to see Steve’s hand already on your phone.
“You know, Y/n, if you wanted to hold hands, you could’ve just asked. We are dating after all.”
“Shut up. Just hand me my phone so I can read my text message. It might be from my mom.”
You reached for the phone in Steve’s hands, your other hand still on the wheel and your eyes on the road as he slapped your hand away lightly.
“No way. You’re driving. I’ll read it to you.” He insisted, attempting to open your phone before looking at you. “I need your face to open your phone.”
“There is a password. It’s ‘Steve sucks major dong’. all lowercase, no space.”
“That didn’t work.”
“I know it wouldn’t. I just wanted to say it.” You chuckled. “The password is ‘there is no password’, no spaces, all lowercase.”
“Clever.” Steve replied, now looking intently at your phone before reading out loud, “Peter aka Spiderboy says that he washed the car you asked him to and even waxed it since he thought it would look nice, so you can just venmo him his twenty dollars.”
“Oh, good. I didn’t think he’d get that done until the weekend.”
“You paid Tony’s little mentor kid to wash my car, didn’t you?” Steve asked, setting your phone down back in the cup holder.
“Of course I did. You didn’t really think I’d do it myself, did you? It so much easier to pay some kid cash than do it myself.”
“Fair point.”
You took a turn into the driveway of your parent’s house, sighing heavily as you put the car into park and turned to Steve.
“Listen to me,” You ordered, poking him in the chest. “If you so much as hint at the fact that we aren’t actually dating, I will kill you. Don’t call me pet names, don’t annoy me. We just need to make it through the next two days and we’ll never have to speak of this again.”
“Hold on. The next two days?” Steve’s eyes were wide as they met yours.
“Why the fuck did you think I packed you a bag?”
“I don’t know! Just in case I spill on myself?”
“Are you a baby? Do you need a diaper bag?” You mocked, your attitude clearly annoyed. “How often do you spill on yourself?”
“Well, never, but maybe now I might! Maybe I might because I’m nervous now that you’re holding me hostage in the middle of nowhere!”
“You are so dramatic, my God!” You groaned, unbuckling yourself before swinging open your door and jumping out of the car. “Just grab your bag so we can go inside.”
You opened the door to the backseat, now face to face with Steve who was on the other side, grabbing his own bag and coat. You stuck your tongue out at him, only to cause him to roll his eyes before you both closed your doors and you locked the car. You made your way around to Steve’s side of the car, holding your hand out to him.
“What are you doing?”
“Hold my hand.” You ordered, waving your hand at him.
“I don’t want to hold your hand.”
“Suck it up. You have to. We have to look like we’re together.”
“I hate you so much.”
“Shut up and hold it already!” You cried, waving your hand wildly before he took your hand in his. “Thank you.”
“Don’t talk to me.”
You guided him down the walkway and up the stairs onto your parent’s front porch. You leaned forward, ringing the doorbell before looking up at Steve, who had a strong frown on his face. You yanked his hand lightly, causing him to look at you.
“Smile. Look like you love me.” You whispered as the front door opened, to reveal your mother and father. “Mom, dad! Hi!”
“Y/n, honey, it’s so good to see you.” You mother beamed, looking between you and Steve. “Oh, you must be Steve! Y/n has told us so much about you!”
Steve raised a brow, a smirk on his face as he looked at you. “Oh, really?”
“Yes, of course! She thinks you are just the cutest and I can see why.”
“Mom, come on.” You groaned, feeling as though you were back in your teens, bringing home your high school boyfriend to meet your parents.
“Oh, hush, just let us have a chance to tease you.” She laughed, touching your shoulder as you slipped into the house past her.
“Yeah, sweetheart, let us have our fun.” Steve agreed, following you inside.
“Oh, Steve, Y/n’s father will take both of your bags to your room.” Your mother said, your father taking your bag from you and taking Steve’s as well. “I need to go check on the ham, but make yourselves at home! Everyone is in the living room.”
You nodded as your two parents departed before turning to Steve, taking your hand from him. “Sweetheart? Really?”
“I was trying to sound like a boyfriend.”
“It was weird. Please, don’t do that again. Just, just don’t call me pet names.”
“If I can’t call you pet names, what do I call you?” Steve asked as he followed you down the hallway to the living room.
“Just call me by my name, okay?” You nodded, flashing a smile before turning forward, walking into the living room.
“Y/n!” Your grandmother beamed, causing the rest of the room to turn and face you.
“Hello, Grandma. Hello, everyone, this is Steve. My, uh-”
“Her boyfriend. Nice to meet you all.” Steve gave a small wave to the room as you took a seat down on the couch besides your grandmother, Steve following your lead.
You gave your grandmother a quick kiss, sinking into the couch as Steve sat beside you.
“He’s very handsome.” Your grandmother whispered, leaning in close to you and gave you a quick wink. “Good job.”
You gave her a shy smile. “Thank you, Gran.”
“It’s uh, very nice to meet you, ma’am.” Steve spoke up, leaning forward to look past you.
“Oh, you too, honey. And might I say, you are cute as a button. If I was a few years younger, I’d swoon for you just as Y/n here has.”
“Okay, Gran. Let’s not embarrass Steve.”
“Oh, I’m not embarrassed.” Steve corrected, a hand on his chest, “I’m flattered, actually. But that blush on your cheeks might indicate you are the one embarrassed.”
Your mother walked into the living room, her smile bright as she clapped her hands together, gathering the attention of everyone in the room.
“Alright! Dinner is ready if you all are hungry.”
“Thank God.” You stood up, smoothing out the fabric of your pants as you took a deep breath. “Come on, Steve.”
“Coming.” Steve stood up and followed you threw the entrance to the kitchen.
“Oh, look who’s under the mistletoe!” Your grandmother beamed as you both stopped to look back at her.
“Oh, Grandma, please.” You shook your head. “It’s just a silly tradition.”
“Oh nonsense, Y/n, it’s fun.”
“Yeah, sweetheart, it’s just a funny tradition.” Steve smirked, grabbing your hand and pulling you close to him before kissing you softly.
You hummed, shocked by the gesture before melting a bit at the sensation of his lips on yours. You put your hand on his chest before pulling away, only to realize you were the only ones left in the hallway.
"If you ever kiss me like that again-" You whispered, your voice almost a hiss as you followed him down the hallway.
"Shut up, you liked it, you opened your mouth for tongue."
"I did not!" You retorted.
"Then why'd you lick mine when I stuck it in your mouth?" Steve questioned, looking back at you with a matter of fact look on his face.
"Just don't kiss me, alright?"
“So now I can’t kiss you? How do you expect us to fake date if I can’t even properly pretend?”
“You just want an excuse to kiss me, don’t you, Steve?”
“Oh, don’t act like you didn’t like that, too.”
“I can like the action of kissing without liking the person.” You stated, turning away from him as you grabbed a dinner plate, piling on the food you wanted before following the rest of the group into the dining room.
“Y/n, Steve, we left a spot open for you two so you can sit together.” Your mother motioned towards you.
You took a seat between Steve and your grandmother, sandwiched between them and wishing you hadn’t picked the spot as you looked around the table, your parents sitting at the two heads and you older brother and his girlfriend sitting across from you with your younger sister sandwiched between them.
“So,” Your mother started, looking at the two of you, “how did you two meet?”
“We met at work.” You stated simply, not looking up from your plate as you pushed around your food.
“I’m sorry, I should have asked Steve. Steve, how did you two meet?”
“Uh,” Steve looked over at you for reassurance, only to receive a confused expression in response, “we met at work, Y/n is right, but it wasn’t as simple as that. I think when we first met, we kind of butted heads a lot and bickered all the time.”
Steve glanced over at you, taking your hand in his. “You know how Y/n is, she teases everyone, and I think for a while I thought she just hated me, but then I figured out she was really only ever teasing me because she liked me. I don’t know if it was romantic or not, but I knew I liked her romantically. It was kind of a no-brainer, whether or not to ask her out. So, I did. She laughed in my face, of course, but when she realized I was serious, she reciprocated the sentiment and said yes.”
You watched Steve as he spoke, your hand warming up in his as you sat silently. You were amazed by the story, almost believing it yourself. He may not have known your last name until earlier in the day, but in that moment, you realized just how observant he was of you along with how easy you were to read.
It was true, you had only ever teased and tormented Steve because you liked him, but you were never sure if it was romantic interest in him that had you acting the way you did.
Sure, Steve was handsome and kind and he was easy to talk to when you actually talked to him and he never quite put up with your shit, but did you like him?
Your eyes grew wide with realization as you quickly turned down to your plate and began eating quietly.
“Y/n? Did you hear me?” Your mother asked.
“No, I’m sorry, I was lost in thought. What?”
“Did you tease Steve because you liked him romantically?” She asked. “Like a school boy pulling a girl’s pigtails?”
You shrugged, stabbing a piece of ham with your fork. “I don’t know. I think at the time, I didn’t really realize how much I really liked him romantically. You know how I am, I’m not the romantic type.”
“But somehow she sure did fall in love with me, right, doll?” Steve asked, putting a hand on your head, brushing through you hair.
You nodded against his head, swallowing hard. “Yeah, yes! I did. I love Steve quite a lot.”
“Oh, well that’s so sweet. John, your turn, tell us about this lovely lady right here.” Your mother turned her attention to your older brother, taking the spotlight away from you and Steve.
“Oh thank god.” You let out the breath you were holding and looked at Steve. “You’re a really good liar, you know that?”
“You’re not so bad yourself.” He whispered back. “We should fake date more often, maybe at restaurants for those free desserts you get on your anniversary.”
“I can’t stand you.”
“Oh, I think you can.” Steve chuckled. “You did say you love me ‘quite a lot.’”
“I was lying, just like you did with your little story.”
“But was I fully lying there?” Steve leaned in close to you, his face close to yours.
“I don’t know, you tell me.”
“You like me, don’t you, sweetheart?” He leaned in a little closer
“As if.”
“Oh really? Because the closer I’ve gotten, the pinker your face has gotten.”
“Don’t make me say it, Steve.”
“Oh, you don’t have to. The way you kissed me earlier has said enough.”
“You kissed me first.”
“And I’ll do it again.”

A Granger Weasley Christmas
Some tooth rotting fluff! I’m not sure I could have fit in any additional tropes if I tried, but for those anon requests, here it is in it’s full glory!
The bonus smut chapter I wrote that ties into this fic can be found here, should you wish to read it
I hope everyone who celebrates has a very Merry Christmas! 🎄
**********************
Hermione stepped in through the front door of her home as she placed her bag by the door and hung her coat in the closet. She shook off the snowflakes that had fallen onto her hair as she chose to apparate home and walk up the lane, relishing in the peaceful, quiet Christmas Eve night. Her work at the Ministry had finally been finished, and now she could enjoy the next week off with her family.
“I’m home!” she called as she finished putting her things away. She heard laughter and smelled something rather sweet coming from the kitchen. Hermione walked in to find Ron, Rose and Hugo working at the kitchen counter. Gingerbread pieces were piled high with white frosting acting as glue, and there were colored candies all over the kitchen counter.
“What’s this?” she asked as she walked further into the kitchen.
“The school sent home a gingerbread house kit for families to do over Christmas hols. The kids have been begging to start working on it, and I could only hold them off for so long. I thought you’d be home an hour ago,” Ron explained while giving Hermione a look.
“I know, I’m sorry! I just needed to make sure things were wrapped up at the Ministry, and now I don’t have to think about work for the next week.” Hermione smiled as she kissed each of the kids on the tops of their heads. She ignored Ron’s eyeroll at her ‘not thinking about work’ comment. “I’m going to go change and then I’ll be back down to help, alright?”
“Okay, Mummy!” Hugo said as Rose nodded. She was far too focused to speak as she was placing a gingerbread square just right so that it stuck to the frosting and layered the way she wanted it to.
By the time Hermione had returned, Rose and Hugo had constructed a towering structure that was slightly lopsided, but amazingly held together. She had a feeling Ron may have slipped a bit of magic in to keep it sturdy to avoid disappointing the kids.
‘Look, Mum, look!” said Hugo in an overly excited voice.
“Can you tell what it is? Can you?” Rose added.
Hermione took another look at the tall gingerbread structure, but before she could guess, Hugo spluttered, “It’s the Burrow!”
“Hugo!” Rose sounded upset.
“Oh, my goodness! It is, isn’t it? How clever!” she said quickly, to avoid a meltdown.
“It was my idea!” Rose said.
“And I helped make it lopsided, like the Burrow is,” Hugo added proudly.
Hermione couldn’t help but laugh as she listened to the two of them explain which parts were theirs, and which parts they worked together on. She sat next to her husband as the kids set to work adding details with the frosting and the various candies. She wasn’t sure if more ended up on the display or in their mouths.
“I don’t suppose you had anything to do with enchanting the gingerbread house so that it hasn’t crumbled, hmm?” Hermione whispered into Ron’s ear.
“What they don’t know, won’t hurt them. Besides, we’ll take a picture of their masterpiece, and the magic should hold for a few days anyway.”
“Brilliant thinking. I take it I missed dinner?” Hermione asked.
“Yes, but I’ve left your plate in the microwave. You just need to heat it up,” Ron said as he leaned in and kissed her cheek.
Hermione watched the kids finish their Gingerbread Burrow as she ate her meal, and then noticed the clock. “Oh my, it’s almost eight. You know what that means!”
“Christmas Eve presents?!” Rose and Hugo shouted excitedly.
Hermione and Ron laughed. “Yes, Christmas Eve presents, but only after you clean up this mess. We’ll make sure the Burrow is displayed properly on the hutch, how’s that?” Hermione said as she carefully moved the kid’s creation.
The kids nodded as they began picking up their mess. Ron had moved the garbage can closer so they would make less of a mess transferring the piping bags of frosting and cookie crumbles. Soon enough, the counter was rid of the remaining sweets, and Ron was scourgifying it clean.
 “Alright, kids. To the living room!” Ron said in an energetic tone as he and Hermione followed them.
“Oh, no!” Rose said. “Dad, the lights went out!”
“Ah, so they have. Must be one loose bulb somewhere. Well, maybe we can all work together to fix the lights if it’s not too late.”
“Before we set out cookies for Father Christmas?” Rose asked hopefully.
“Only if it’s not too late,” Hermione chimed in. “Now, here go ahead and open these.” She handed Rose and Hugo identically wrapped packages.
“Yay! This is my favorite part about Christmas Eve!” Hugo said enthusiastically. Nothing could ruin the holidays for their youngest child.
Both Rose and Hugo excitedly unwrapped their presents to find matching Christmas pajamas. The shirts had cute reindeer on them and the bottoms were a checkered red, white and black pattern.
“Thanks, Mum and Dad! Should we wear them to bed tonight?” Rose asked.
“That’s the plan, Rosie,” Ron said as he reached out his arms to accept a hug from his little girl. “Now, what do you say we get you two cleaned up in the bath so you don’t get any frosting or gingerbread crumbs on those new pajamas?”
~~~~~~
Ron led them up to the bathroom as Hermione picked up the wrappings and joined them soon enough. For once, bath time did not take as long as expected because the kids were too excited to help fix the tree and get the cookies they’d baked earlier that day set out for Father Christmas. He quickly found himself chasing two kids in matching pajamas down the stairs and into the living room where Hermione was waiting for them.
“Do we still have time to help with the lights, Dad?” Rose asked. Hugo was showing off his best puppy dog eyes and pouty lip to help convince their parents to say yes.
“I think if we all take a different section of the tree, then we may be able to solve the Christmas tree mystery. Hmmm, now who should take the top section? Hugo, you’re tall enough, right?” Ron joked as he tickled his son.
“No, Dad, that’s your job! Rose and I can work on the bottom!”
“Alright, alright, I suppose you’re right. Mum can take the middle section, yeah?” Ron asked as Hermione nodded and the family of four set to work.
Hermione half suspected the kids to grow tired of the task fairly quickly, and honestly, if it wasn’t the night before Christmas, she’d have just suggested going out to purchase another string of lights to replace it with. Unfortunately, it was too late for that. Surely if they couldn’t figure it out, they could use magic to fix it, right?
As if on cue, Hugo asked worriedly, “Dad? What if we can’t fix it? Will Father Christmas not be able to find our house?”
“Hugo, that wouldn’t make Father Christmas skip our house! Some of my friend’s families don’t even keep their lights on all night.” Rose argued with her brother.
“W-what? But he needs the light to see! How else would he know where to put the presents and which stockings to fill?” Hugo questioned.
Hermione gave Ron a quick look. They were too young to be having these questioning conversations about Father Christmas, but Hugo was so intuitive about everything that she shouldn’t be surprised. Ron returned her worried look with a reassuring one of his own. Hopefully he had a plan.
“You see, Hugo, Father Christmas is magical, too. I can tell you that he appreciates when the lights are on, but he won’t skip the house if they’re off or broken. Don’t worry, as long as you’ve been good this year, you have nothing to worry about!”
Hugo stopped checking the lights as he bit his lip. He was clearly worried that maybe he hadn’t been as good as he thought.
“Hugo, don’t overthink it, honey, I’m sure Father Christmas won’t forget you. Remember, as long as you believe, you shall receive.” Hermione smiled at her son, who looked a bit relieved as he went back to trying his lights.
They worked in silence for a little while, and all of a sudden the middle section lit up brightly again.
“I found it, I found it!” exclaimed Rose.
“Great job, sweetheart! And great teamwork everyone,” Ron said quickly when he noticed Hugo’s disappointment that it wasn’t him to fix the tree. “Should we go set the cookies out and then get ready for bed?”
This helped take Hugo’s mind off the tree as he jumped up and ran to the kitchen. “Mum, look! I made this one especially for Father Christmas!” They’d made classic sugar cookie cut outs that were caked with a heavy layer of icing. Hugo’s was a green Christmas tree with little globs that she assumed were ornaments.
“Wow, Hugo, you worked very hard on that! I’m sure he’ll love it!”
“Mine’s an angel, but I decorated his face to look like a gnome,” said Rose with a triumphant smile. “I got the idea because Dad told us about when Uncle George and Uncle Fred put a gnome on top of the tree at the Burrow when they were growing up.”
Hermione couldn’t help but laugh at the memory as Ron grinned, clearly happy that the kids had enjoyed his story. As they were arranging the cookies on the plate, Hugo asked, “What was your first Christmas together like, Mum?”
Hermione looked at her son. “Do you mean our first Christmas when we were together? Or..”
“No, your first Christmas after you met!” Hugo said excitedly.
“Why don’t we make that your bedtime story?” Ron suggested. “Rose, do you want to hear the story, too? We’ll tell it in Hugo’s room. Go brush your teeth and we’ll meet you up there in a few minutes.”
“What are we going to tell them?” Hermione asked Ron as they heard the kids running up the stairs.
“I reckon we should probably tell them the truth..” Ron said cheekily, earning a playful swat from his wife.
“You know what I mean,” Hermione said.
“Well, we can explain that you went home, and Harry and I stayed at Hogwarts. Pretty uneventful, honestly.”
“Better than telling them we spent second year together at Hogwarts so we could use polyjuice potion to spy on Draco,” Hermione reasoned.
Ron burst into laughter. “Can you imagine the kid’s reactions if we told them you polyjuiced into a cat?”
“We are never telling them that story! Some things are better left in the past.”
“There’s a lot that they probably shouldn’t know about our Hogwarts years,” Ron said.
“Yes, and hopefully Neville won’t give too much away, either.” Hermione said.
“It’s not Neville I’m worried about,” Ron muttered as he motioned for them to head up the stairs.
They walked into Hugo’s room and sat on the edge of the bed. “So you want to hear about our first Christmas, eh?” Ron said as Rose and Hugo nodded. “Well, I’m afraid it’s not a very interesting story.”
“Why not?” Rose asked.
“Well, it was our first year at Hogwarts, and I went home to spend Christmas with my family, and your dad stayed at Hogwarts to spend Christmas with Harry since he wasn’t going home,” Hermione explained.
“You didn’t get any presents for each other?” Rose asked with a disappointed look on her face.
“Oh, I got your father some chocolates from Honeydukes,” Hermione said.
“And I got your Mum a quill from Scrivenshaft’s. It wasn’t much, but we were eleven,” Ron added.
“Twelve,” Hermione corrected him.
“Well, what about the story of how you met, then?” Hugo asked.
“Now, that’s a story!” Ron said with a chuckle.
“Ohh, tell us, tell us!” Rose begged.
“Please?” added Hugo.
“Alright, alright, settle down,” Hermione told them. “Well, we met on the train at Hogwarts. I was helping Neville find his toad, and I stumbled upon the compartment that Uncle Harry and Dad were in. He was quite rude to me, actually,” Hermione said playfully. “Tried to do a bit of magic, but it didn’t quite work as intended.”
“Yes, and then your Mum decided to tell me I had dirt on my nose and left,” Ron continued. “We didn’t get on very well in the beginning. A couple months in, she tried to help me cast wingardium leviosa, and I called her a nightmare.”
Rose gasped. “You didn’t!”
“Did you apologize? You never let Rose or me call each other names!” Hugo seemed appalled.
“He did apologize eventually,” Hermione said. “I was so upset that I went to hide in a bathroom and missed the Halloween feast.”
“So she missed the announcement that there was a troll roaming the castle,” Ron said nonchalantly.
Both kid’s mouths dropped open. “A troll was roaming the castle? Aren’t they dangerous?” asked Hugo.
“Do they let trolls loose every Halloween?” Rose asked excitedly. Merlin, they had a Gryffindor on their hands if Ron had ever seen one.
“No, no! It wasn’t planned. All the kids were sent back to their common rooms and the teachers went to go find it. Well, Uncle Harry and I remembered that someone said Hermione was crying in the bathroom, and we figured we should go tell her. It was a good thing we did because the troll went right into that bathroom,” Ron went on.
“And you locked him in there with me!” Hermione interrupted.
“Yeah, but we went in after you when we heard you scream!” Ron defended.
“Yes, just before he was about to get me!”
“What happened?” Rose asked.
“What did you do?” Hugo said with wide eyes.
“Well, Harry jumped on the troll’s back to try and stop him, and ended up getting his wand stuck up the troll’s nose. I tried to throw a pipe at it, and then I managed to cast wingardium leviosa and levitated the club out of the troll’s hand.” Ron paused to make sure he had the kid’s full attention. “And then, the club knocked the troll on the head, and he passed out.”
“We were just about to get out of there when the professors found us and asked what happened. I covered for them, telling Professor McGonagall I thought I could take the troll on by myself, but they wouldn’t let me.”
“You did what? Rose asked.
“After that, your Uncle Harry and I decided to keep her around. She turned out to be a really great friend when she wasn’t nagging us to do our homework,” Ron said with a smile as he put his arm around Hermione and kissed her temple.
“Ewww,” Rose said.
Hermione laughed as she said, “I think it’s time for bed now. If you stay up too late, Father Christmas may not make it. You’ve got to be asleep for him to make his rounds.”
They kissed Hugo goodnight, and repeated the routine with Rose in her room before shutting their doors.
“I’m exhausted,” Hermione said.
“And yet, our night is just beginning,” Ron said with glee.
****************
“No, Ron, the bikes should be in the back by the window! Not in the front. Bigger presents in the back, smaller presents in the front,” Hermione chided.
“I still don’t see why Hugo and Rose are getting bikes to begin with. They’re magical, they should have brooms!” Ron shot back.
“They have brooms already!”
“Yeah, but Hugo’s is a toy broomstick and Rose has got my old Cleansweep from school.”
“Next year that will be Rose’s big present, but this year it’s a bicycle for each of them. They have muggle friends at school, and they need to be able to play with them like muggles. Besides, learning to ride a bike is much like learning to fly a broom, and it will be a good skill for the kids to have.”
“If you say so..” Ron watched as Hermione finished rearranging all of the presents under the tree. He folded his arms and shook his head as he chuckled to himself. “You’re barmy, you know that, right? The kids aren’t going to remember the layout, you know.”
“Yes, but I will. And you secretly love it. You’re not fooling anyone,” Hermione said as she brushed her hands together indicating she was done, and walked over to him.
Ron wrapped her in his arms and leaned in to kiss her. Even after fifteen years together, his heart still skipped a beat every time their lips touched. Hermione seemed to melt into him, probably from a mixture of exhaustion and an eagerness for his affection. With two kids running around the house, it was a struggle to find time to be intimate with each other.
“Shall we head to bed, then?” he whispered against her lips.
“I thought you’d never ask,” Hermione responded in kind.
*******************
Hermione woke with a start at 4:30 in the morning, and tugged at Ron’s arm. “Ron!” she hissed. “The cookies! We forgot to eat the cookies!”
“Wha-?” Ron said in his still drowsy state.
“The cookies are sitting on the counter,” she repeated as she hopped out of bed and pulled her bathrobe on. She let out a grunt of frustration as she saw Ron’s head hit the pillow again. “Honestly…”
Hermione checked both the kid’s rooms to ensure they were still sound asleep before she tiptoed to the kitchen. The cookie eating was always Ron’s job. The kids had a knack for layering the frosting a little too thick, and Hermione couldn’t stomach all that sugar. She took a deep breath and picked up Hugo’s cookie first, and took the biggest bite she could muster so it would look like it was eaten.
Hermione placed one half back on the plate and took the other out of her mouth, nibbling on a tiny corner before making her way over to the bin. She opened it and stuffed the cookie as far down as she could, strategically placing some discarded wrapping paper over it so the kids wouldn’t see.
Then,she went back to the plate of cookies and panicked. What do I do, what do I do? She thought. Hermione spotted a piece of parchment on the counter and had an idea. She grabbed it and began scribbling in the messiest scrawl she could manage:
Rose and Hugo,
Happy Christmas! You’ve been so good this year. I hope you enjoy your gifts! Thank you for the cookies. They were delicious! The angel gnome was too creative to eat - I’ve never seen anything like it. Be good for your Mum and Dad and I can’t wait to receive your letters next year.
Father Christmas
There! Crisis averted. Hermione took a deep breath as she quietly made her way back up the stairs, and was hoping for a few more hours of rest before the kids woke up. Ron was already back to snoring.
****************
“Rosie, look! Look! A bicycle! Wow!” Hugo gushed as he skidded to a halt in front of the tree, Rose hot on his heels.
Ron and Hermione were cuddled up on the couch, mugs of coffee in hand as they watched the kids open up their presents. Both kids received a few books that Hermione knew the kids would enjoy, but aside from that, their presents couldn’t have differed more.
In addition to the books and bicycle, Rose received a quaffle, broom care kit, and the furby she was begging for because everyone at school was asking for them. Ron had no idea why it was the hit gift of the year. They looked so creepy, and if an owl was what Rose wanted, he’d have gotten her one, but Hermione had insisted.
Hugo’s gifts included a small magnetic chess set, the latest lego set, and a playstation console. It was a used one, but would do well for Hugo who only liked a few certain games. Rose’s temper had caused an uncontrolled magic accident where their former console had shorted out and wasn’t playable anymore. Hugo was especially excited to have another gently used version to replace the other one.
The kids received socks and a board game from Father Christmas, and their stockings were filled to the brim with both Muggle and Magical sweets. They thanked their parents profusely, and grabbed their own gifts that they’d created for their parent’s gift. Hugo had made an ornament with painted puzzle pieces glued together, encircling his school picture. Ron and Hermione both gushed over how creative it was.
Rose had made a Christmas tree out of string that was wrapped around small nails protruding from a small slab of wood, with the words “Merry and Bright” scribbled in her handwriting underneath. Aunt Audrey had helped her make it apparently, and Rose was very proud of the finished work. Hermione got up to put it on the mantle and Ron hung Hugo’s ornament on the tree.
The kids hugged their parents. “Can we ride our bikes?” Hugo asked hopefully.
Ron laughed. “No, Hugo, there’s too much snow on the ground. We’ll put the bikes in the shed, but I promise on the first nice day, we’ll get right out there. Why don’t you bring some of your presents up to your room and play while Mum and I make breakfast. You too, Rose.”
Rose nodded and began gathering as much as she could carry towards the stairs. Hugo followed her as Ron summoned his gift for Hermione from under the tree. “You didn’t think I’d forget your gift, now, did you?” he said with a smile.
He handed her a small box, which she opened gently. It was a small jewelry box, which she opened to reveal a small silver bracelet with four stones. The two in the middle were sapphire and aquamarine. Next to the sapphire was a blue topaz stone, and next to the aquamarine, an alexandrite stone. It was stunning, and Hermione knew without explanation that it was their family represented by their birthstones.
“It’s beautiful, Ron, I love it,” she said as she clasped the bracelet around her wrist and then leaned in for a kiss.
She summoned his gift next and handed it to him. It was a simple envelope, and didn’t seem like much. He opened the envelope to reveal a weekend getaway for just the two of them next month in Egypt. It was the one place Ron had been that Hermione had not, and he’d always wanted to take her there. Once they’d started their family, opportunities for travel had all but vanished, so this was her way of helping him make good on his promise.
“Wicked!” Ron said. “I finally get to show you around Egypt, and it’s a holiday for just the two of us? I hope things are still the same as when I was twelve,” he said with a laugh. “This is brilliant, love, thank you.”
“You’re very welcome. Shall we get on with breakfast, then?” Hermione asked. “I’m sure the gifts won’t keep them occupied forever.”
“Right you are,” Ron agreed as he led her into the kitchen.
“I still stand by my statement from last night. This is still the best Christmas ever,” Hermione told him as she leaned against the counter, watching him get ingredients out.
“I’d expect nothing less.”
You’d tossed and turned for almost an hour before you had eventually drifted off to sleep, only to be awoken by the Denver sunrise spilling through the window. Groaning softly you made a mental note for the shopping trip...curtains...Cale definitely needed curtains. Laying on the couch, you played on your phone for a few minutes before the need to use the bathroom finally took over.
After knocking quietly on Cale’s door with no response, you cracked it open hoping to sneak through to the bathroom without disturbing him. As you tiptoed across his bedroom floor, you couldn’t help but let your eyes fall on him. As expected, he was shirtless, blankets falling only midway up his exposed chest. His hair was a mess, and a relaxed expression covered his face. Quietly closing the bathroom door behind you, you chastised yourself for the heat that flooded through you. You were just friends and despite his now single status, that was all this was ever going to be.
Relieving yourself, you then quickly brushed your teeth before quietly moving back to the living room, easing his door shut behind you. His parents were going to be here in about an hour and after starting a pot of coffee you examined the contents of Cale’s fridge and cabinets. Finding bacon, eggs, and pancake mix you decided to make everyone breakfast. It was as you were moving around the kitchen that Cale finally appeared, rubbing the sleep from his eyes.
“You’re making breakfast?” He murmured, leaning in to kiss the top of your head.
“I am…” You smiled, checking on the bacon in the oven as you scrambled eggs in a pan on the stove. Cale poured himself a cup of coffee and you felt his eyes on you once more.
“Anything I can do?” He questioned after a moment.
“Get some plates?” You requested. “How do you want your eggs?” The clatter of plates filled your ears for a moment as Cale set plates beside you.
“However you’re making them is perfect.” He insisted, sharing a warm grin now that he was a little bit more awake. Nodding you took one of the plates and scooped a hefty portion of eggs onto it before pulling the bacon from the oven and the pancakes from where they were keeping warm in the microwave and piling those onto the plate as well.
“Eat up.” You grinned, turning to place the plate in front of one of the bar stools at the island. Doing another batch of eggs quickly you set everything aside to keep warm before serving yourself a much smaller portion. Taking a seat beside him, you shook your head as you watched Cale continue to dig into his breakfast. The moment felt a little too domestic and natural so you were thankful when there was a knock at the door that signaled that Laura and Gary had arrived.
It wasn’t long after that before you were quickly getting ready and heading out with Laura to go shopping for things for Cale’s apartment. The first place you stopped was Starbucks and then you were off to a local shopping center to do some damage.
“You seem more relaxed…” Laura mentioned as she sat waiting for the light to turn green.
“Yeah uh...we talked after dinner last night. We’re good.” You shrugged. Yes you were close with Laura, but you really didn’t want to tell her the details of your friendship with her son. She seemed to accept that because she nodded and smiled.
“Good. I’m glad.” Her response ended the subject and instead she focused on the task ahead. “So you’ve spent a decent amount of time in Cale’s apartment...what does he still need other than what he mentioned to me?”
“Well curtains would be good. Waking up to the sun isn’t always ideal.” You said, a yawn slipping from your throat. “He could also use a throw blanket for the couch.” You added, pondering over what comforts Cale’s apartment seemed to be missing that would make it feel more like a home.
Wandering through aisles, Laura did most of the shopping, occasionally asking for your thoughts on something before either tossing it into the cart or putting it back on the shelf. As you walked through the aisle containing photo frames you paused.
“What do you think about surprising him with some pictures?” You suggested. He had a couple pieces of ‘artwork’ but there really weren’t any family photos to be found as far as you could see.
“Why don’t you take the reins on that?” Laura replied, a soft look you couldn’t place filling her eyes as she handed you her phone. “Text yourself anything from my camera roll.” As she looked through possible throw pillows, you quickly scanned through the pictures, texting yourself a half dozen that would be perfect. Agreeing to meet up in about fifteen minutes, you headed back to the instant photo machine, plugging your phone in to print the pictures from Laura’s gallery as well as a couple from your own. Satisfied with what you had, you moved back to the frames, picking out one for each photo before moving to find some command strips to hang them with.
On the car ride back to Cale’s place, you worked to get each photo into a frame. By the time Laura pulled back into the garage you were finished and you helped her carry all of the shopping bags inside. Cale had given his mom the spare key in case the two of you were done before he got back and after letting yourselves inside, you went to work on making Cale’s apartment feel just a little cozier. Together you hung curtains up in his living room, tossing pillows and the sherpa throw onto the couch. Then Laura helped you with hanging photos on his bedroom wall while a few of them were placed stationary on a side table in his living room. Laura unpacked the rest of the things Cale had asked her to buy and then the two of you settled onto the couch to watch tv until the guys arrived.
Gary and Cale had picked up lunch on the way home, so the four of you sat down to eat. When you finished, Cale handed you a gift bag and though you had a feeling you knew what it was, you were still anxious to open it. Navy fabric accented with maroon and white spilled around your fingers and you gently ran your fingers over the number 8 and lettering of the nameplate.
“Can’t have you come to the game tonight without proper apparel.” Cale murmured and you jumped up quickly, wrapping your arms around him in a hug.
“It’s perfect.” You agreed. You’d packed the Makar home jersey that you’d bought yourself at the beginning of the season, but you had to admit the thirds were your favorite jersey and getting the jersey from Cale meant just a little bit more than buying one for yourself.
As you cleaned up lunch, Cale started to settle in, getting ready to take his pregame nap. He had acknowledged the curtains, blanket, pillows and other things his mom had gotten him but it wasn’t until he disappeared into his bedroom for a moment that his eyes must have caught the photos. He’d only been gone maybe 30 seconds when he returned, pulling his mom into a huge hug, his eyes soft.
“You framed pictures for me?” He muttered softly.
“That idea was all Y/N.” Laura quickly clarified and immediately Cale turned to you, his arms wrapping around you just as tightly.
“That’s incredible. Thank you.” He whispered into your ear, and when he pulled back his hands lingered on your hips for a moment more.
Soon you were grabbing everything you’d need for the game because you were headed with Laura and Gary to play tourist while Cale napped and then headed to the rink. Laura and Gary had already headed downstairs while you debated on a shirt to wear and you didn’t even notice Cale come up beside you as you dug through your bag.
“Wear that one.” He instructed, pointing to a wine red long-sleeved off-the-shoulder blouse. “We’re going out after the game if we win.” He clarified, rubbing the back of his neck. You were already wearing your favorite pair of jeans and had thrown on a cute pair of tennis shoes for running around. You weren’t exactly a club type of person but going out with Cale and his teammates did seem fun.
“Okay.” You agreed, disappearing into his bathroom to change tops before returning. “Have a good nap. And kick some ass tonight.” You teased, grabbing your makeup bag because you’d barely put any on to go shopping and if you were going out tonight you were going to need to rethink your current makeup. With everything you needed, you snuck a kiss to Cale’s cheek before disappearing out the door to meet Gary and Laura down at the car.
____
The last time you saw Cale play live was versus Calgary during the playoffs. So sitting in the stands of the Pepsi Center watching him warm up was an entirely different experience. You’d watched him on tv many times but in person it was clear to see just how much his game was growing every day. He was almost mesmerizing to watch and tucked in next to Laura, wrapped in his jersey, you felt at peace. Well, at least until the puck dropped for real.
During a commercial break in the first period, the Avs announced a promo game. After the participant was introduced and the game was explained, a baby picture popped up on the screen. In it, a little boy, no more than 9 or 10 months old, sat between the legs of a little girl around the age of five who had a book in her hands. Immediately your own cheeks flushed as you recognized the picture, it was one of your favorites from when you and Cale were super little. The fan playing got one guess of who it was with no options to win an autographed jersey, but they were way off and guessed Nate for some reason. Then multiple choice popped up with Cale’s name, JT’s, and Gabe for a chance at an autographed puck. You didn’t even pay attention to the guess beyond hearing the boos signaling they got it wrong, but instead your gaze landed on Cale who was looking up at the screen, hiding a smile as he took some ribbing by his teammates. Eventually his eyes drifted up to where you were seated and he sent a little wink that you would have missed if you weren’t looking at him. From beside you Laura just smiled and bumped your shoulder, signaling without words just how strong your friendship with Cale really was.
The Avs played a solid all around game and you cheered with each goal scored. Cale had two assists on the night and with the team coming out with the win you knew he was going to be in a good mood. Heading down to the locker room, you listened as Gary rambled on about the game as hockey dads do while sharing looks with Laura that made you burst into laughter.
When Cale finally stepped out of the locker room he hugged his parents before lifting you up and spinning you around.
“You ready to go have some fun?” He inquired, boyish smile on his face.
“Don’t get into too much trouble.” Laura warned, though her expression wasn’t all that serious.
“As if I’d let him.” You joked. For years Cale’s family had the running joke of you being the more responsible one keeping Cale in line. It wasn’t always true obviously, but for the most part the point stood. Still after the past few weeks Cale had had, you were willing to let him go just a little bit crazy tonight, knowing that you would be there as his safety net.
“We’ll see you both tomorrow.” Gary grinned. “Go relax and have a good time.” Cale’s arm drifted around your waist as he tugged you to his car. Once there, you stripped off the jersey leaving you in just the blouse and as he pulled out of the garage you mussed up your hair just a little bit. Using the mirror, you carefully added a little more eyeliner before throwing on a dark lipstick, tossing both cylinders into the cupholder beside you.
By the time you stepped out of the car at the club you felt ready for a night out and as you watched Cale shed his jacket, you felt his eyes on you once more.
Waiting for him to be ready to head inside, you watched as a tall redhead approached, beautiful woman tucked into his side.
“Y/N...this is JT and his girlfriend Lauren.” Cale introduced and you reached a hand out to shake theirs before tucking your hand back into your pocket.
“So this is the best friend.” JT said, smirking. “Bout time Cale finally brought you around, he’s been talking about you for forever.”
“Really?” You teased, ready to throw out a semi-embarrassing tidbit until Cale grabbed you by the waist, his finger falling to your lips to shush you as he guided you inside.
“Can you at least let me get a drink or two in me before you start spilling the embarrassing stories?” He pleaded jokingly.
“I suppose.” You conceded, smiling as he guided you up to the VIP lounge and over to the bar. Settling for a glass of wine, you watched him order a beer for himself before leading you over to one of the many couches. It wasn’t long before you were being introduced to all of Cale’s teammates.
Gabe was boisterous and funny and the way that he looked at his wife Mel made you smile brightly. Josty was a character, he had you laughing almost immediately as he told stories about all of the media events he’d done with Cale and what he’d learned from residing in the same building. He was definitely giving you ammo to use later. Then again they all were, chirps had been flying left and right all night.
You’d been nursing the same glass of wine for about an hour, watching as Cale downed another 2-3 beers as well as a shot that Burky handed him. It was nice to see Cale out with people that clearly cared about him and you knew this was probably the first time he had really been able to let go of all of the stress since the pregnancy scare.
Eventually Mel and Lauren dragged you out onto the dance floor with the other better halves and even though you’d barely had anything to drink, the beat of the music had you relaxing, enjoying the time you had getting to know the people who were part of Cale’s other family.
“You know his eyes haven’t left you all night.” Mel eventually declared, her voice barely audible over the loud music.
“He’s always been a little protective…” You simply shrugged. The look Mel and Lauren shared suggested that they weren’t buying that logic but they didn’t push things. After a few more songs, you left the dance floor to head to the bar for a bottle of water. While there a tall….like really tall, dark haired man who looked like he should star in the next hollywood vampire blockbuster, slipped up beside you, his arm brushing against yours lightly. As you placed him as Cale’s d-partner you smiled up at him before looking back at where the bartender was rushing back and forth.
“You know none of us have ever seen him like this before…” Ryan murmured. “He comes out but he never really lets loose. Now I don’t know whether that’s because it’s the first time we’ve been out since everything happened or if it’s because you’re here but I suspect it’s more to do with the latter.” You didn’t really know what to say to that so you shrugged. “And I’m not saying that in the manner of he feels like you’re the babysitter who will take care of him, I’m saying that he feels comfortable because you’re here in a way he was never comfortable either by himself or with Sara.” Ryan finally managed to get the bartender’s attention and he ordered your water along with whatever he was drinking before continuing. “And I’m sure Cale never said anything and neither did anyone else but...you should know everyone really likes you. And I can’t say the same for Sara.” Just as quickly as he’d appeared, Ryan had walked off and you glanced over at Cale to see his eyes planted firmly on you, his cheeks rosy from the alcohol.
Water in hand, you moved to Cale’s side, his arm wrapping around you immediately. The redness in his eyes told you he’d had a little bit more to drink than he probably should have and you pushed your water his way, not wanting him to be completely impossible to drag home. The grin on his face was lazy as he took the bottle, showing how completely relaxed and at ease he was.
His Adam's apple bobbed as he took a long sip of the water and you tilted your head to observe him, tie gone and the top few buttons of his shirt undone. His fingers slipped just under the edge of your shirt along your hip and you took your own sip from the bottle of water trying to hide the flush that filled your body at the feeling of his fingertips on your bare skin. Passing the water back to him, it was soon gone and once the bottle was empty you stood, looking over your shoulder.
“Are you going to sit there all night or are you going to come dance with me?” You inquired, your tongue running against your bottom lip. Stumbling just slightly, Cale slipped out of the booth and his hand fell to the curve of your back as he guided you over to where his teammates and their significant others were dancing.
With Cale’s chest pressed against your back, his hands fell to your hips once more and the pads of his fingers wandered over every inch of skin they could reach. His touch had never affected you like this before, he’d never been this brazen before, but you chalked both of those factors up to the alcohol. Though you’d only had two glasses of wine since you arrived, wine had always made you far warmer than any other form of alcohol so the heat in your skin was definitely just from that.
“So I have a question…” Cale’s breath fanned over your ear as he leaned down to whisper yell at you, allowing you to hear him over the rap song that was playing.
“Yes Cale?” You replied, tilting your body back against his so that you could see his face. It was even rosier than before and his soft smile was replaced by a serious and focused look causing your eyebrow to quirk at the sight.
“Women like having oral sex performed on them right?” For a split second you were certain that it was only Cale’s hold on you that kept you from falling right over. Choking on your own saliva as you tried to swallow you quickly coughed, your cheeks even more flushed than you could attribute to the wine.
“I...I mean from what I’ve heard yeah…” You finally stumbled out an answer. “Why?” Your question was ignored as Cale’s hands tightened around your hips.
“You’ve heard?” Cale prodded. “You don’t know?” Cursing under your breath you shivered as Cale’s thumb stroked a sensitive spot along your side.
“Cale…” You mumbled, not drunk enough for this conversation. He poked you in the side though signaling you to continue and you groaned. “I mean...I had sex for the first time freshman year of college and we didn’t exactly know what we were doing…” You explained, softly enough that only Cale would hear you. “And I mean I’ve only had sex one other time...it was a one night stand and we were both way too drunk to do anything but fuck. So yeah...I’m just taking other people’s word on it...why are you asking Cale?” You finished, twisting in his arms so that you could look at him properly. His head ducked to press against the crook of your neck and he hissed quietly as you drug your nails along his lower back.
“Just curious…” Cale breathed. “Sara never let me...I mean I wanted to but...she told me she wasn’t interested.” For a moment you didn’t know what to say as that little piece of you celebrated the fact that it seemed there were a lot of things he didn’t do with his ex girlfriend.
“Oh...I mean everyone has their own likes and dislikes…” You reminded him. “But generally equal reciprocation is definitely appreciated.”
As the song ended, Gabe called Cale’s name to go take another shot and you pushed him to go murmuring that you were going to run to the bathroom. By the time you returned, you suspected it was definitely time to get Cale home, so you sidled up to his side, slipping your hand in his front pocket for his car keys.
“I think it’s time we get you home and to bed rockstar.” You declared. Thankfully Cale didn’t put up much of a fight, closing his tab before letting you lead him out of the club. By the time you had parked in his garage, you could see how sleepy the alcohol was making him and you moved around to help him out of the car, his body nearly dragging yours down with its weight.
Stumbling through the door, you urged him to start to bed while you got him more water and some pain killers. Gathering both, you moved to his room after checking to ensure the front door was locked. You found him sitting on the edge of his bed, dressed in only boxer briefs and though you tried not to stare, your body couldn’t help but notice that gone was the teenage boy you once knew and in his place was a man plain and simple. Setting the water and pills on his bedside table, you urged him to take his contacts out.
Once you were certain he was fairly settled, you turned to make your way to the couch. Instead, Cale’s hands reached out to pull you back to him and as he scooted to the far side of the bed, he drug you down with him.
“Cale…” You mumbled in complaint but his eyes were already closed and his breathing was starting to steady out, his hands keeping your body pressed tightly against his. Sighing, you managed to work yourself out of your jeans before giving in and settling in his arms.
Between your conversation with Gravy, the looks Mel and Lauren were giving you, Cale’s inquiry, wandering hands, and this, so many lines had been blurred tonight that it was making you dizzy.
For the second night in a row...your mind reeled as you fell into a fitful sleep.
"I'm bored." You complain as you pass your fingers trough the sandy blond hair of your boyfriend. "Me too." He said in a whisper, trying his best not to fall asleep on your lap. "I know what we should do !" You start. "Tell me." He only responded, curious. "We should do an Harry Potter marathon !" Tom automatically open his eyes to your proposition. "It doesn't sound like a bad idea !" He shouted as he slowly sits up again and stretches. "Awesome ! You prepare the movie and I make the popcorn"
"Okay ! Let's go !" Tom gets up and you follow the movement before running into the kitchen to grab a bag of popcorn that you put in the microwave. After a few minutes you take it out and utter a little yelp because of the warmth of the bag. "Are you alright ?" Tom asked from the living room. "Yes ! Don't worry, just burned myself !" You say before giggling as you hear him sigh while he joins you in the kitchen. "You are a public menace." He mocks. "Why are you even surprised ? You should know by now !" You say in a laugh while you struggle to open the hot popcorn bag. "Let me help."
He takes the bag from your hands and open it. Everything could've been fine but a wave heat get out of it and it's Tom's turn to scream. "See ! You're the same !" You tease as you start to burst out laughing but stop when you see he actually got hurt. "Put it under water." You say, worried all of a sudden.
•••
After taking care of that little injury, you are finally sitting comfortably on the couch. "Ready ?" You asked as you grab the remote. "Yes !" You nod and finally push on the 'play' button. You start to smile like a kid when the movie starts playing, it was adorable to see for Tom. You were coming back to childhood with every scene you were seeing.
You couldn't help but giggle when Tom's first appearance in the movie comes up. "Aaaaaw baby Tom !" Tom chuckles besides you as a wave of emotion takes hold of him. You turn your head to smile at him but stop when you see his tearing eyes. "Are you crying ?" You asked, worried while you kind of find it adorable. "No...I just have dust in my eye !" He tries to lie but it was obvious. "You're such a liar !" You giggle.
•••
"God, this place has gone to the dogs. Wait until my father hears that Dumbledore's got this oaf teaching classes."  You hear on the television. "God I want to punch you in the face !" You growl, making Tom laugh besides you. "With a bit of chance, it'll break your nose and make you a little less pleasant to watch." You continue.
"Don't worry, the hippogriff will do it for you." You gasp, remembering that scene. "Oh my god ! I forgot that scene ! When is it ?" You shouted, all excited to see Draco getting beat up by Buckbeak. "Calm down, it's coming !" Tom laughs when he sees you staring at the movie. "You're not dangerous at all are you ?"
"He's not blond for nothing." You mocks when the hippogriff attacks the Slytherin. "Don't mock my beautiful blond hair !" Tom growls, making you replace your attention on him as you laugh with him.
•••
"Why so tense, Potter ? My father and I have a bet, you see. See, I don't think you're going to last ten minutes in this tournament. He disagrees. He thinks you won't last five !"
"That's the scene that made me in love with you when I was a kid..." You confess to Tom. "Really ? No, it must be the ferret !" You laugh slightly when the ferret in question appears on the screen. "Yeah ! It must be !"
•••
"I'm surprised the Ministry's still letting you walk around free, Potter. You better enjoy it while you can. I expect there's a cell in Azkaban with your name on it."
When that scene comes up, you quickly put your hand on his forearm, making him jump in surprise. "What ?" He asks, confused. "Sorry...It's the black suit..." You say before faking a faint, landing your head on his lap. A giggle escapes his lips as he instantly start to play with your hair.
•••
"Didn't mummy ever tell you it was rude to eavesdrop, Potter? Petrificus totalus! Oh yeah. She was dead before you could wipe the drool off your chin."
"Is it considered cheating if I'm in love with one of your characters ?" You asked your boyfriend who was still playing with strands of your hair. "Well, technically, it's me, so I don't really mind." He says in a little laugh.
•••
Here comes Tom's last scene in the movies. "Draco..." Narcissa was calling him. "Don't go..." You complain sadly.  You sigh when the blond character joins his parents. "You know it's a movie and the ending is not going to change even if you watch it again 10 years after right ?" Tom mocks when he sees your reaction. "Hey, let me have hope please !" You complain as you straighten up to sit again. You then place your head on his shoulder to watch to end of the movie.
Once you reach the very last scene of the movie you can't help but giggle when you see Tomon the screen. "Why are you laughing ?" he asks, confused. "They really did you dirty on the makeup. You look like a eighty year old !" You explain, still laughing. "Stop mocking me !" He shouted before making a cute pounting face. "I'm sorry." You murmur as your arms slide aroung his neck, making him look at your face. "We should go to sleep, it's super late !" He proposes before putting a kiss on the tip of your nose. "Yes ! i'm exhausted, can you carry me to the bed ?" Tom rolls his eyes while you let a little giggle escape your lips. "You'll be rewarded with cuddles !" You don't have to tell him twice. He quickly gets up and lift you from the couch, you scream in surprise as he carries you to your bedroom like the princess you are.
