Special angst. Featuring touch-starved Special, homemade quintessence fuckery and lore, basically Special can't touch anyone or they die, Omega and Delta try to help.
CW : Angst, like pretty heavy angst I think, Hurt/comfort, talk of death
Ghouls are social creatures. Not all to the same extend, not all in the same way, but the fact remains : ghouls thrive in eachother's company, in the knowledge that someone, somewhere, is waiting for them, ready to welcome them.
And, ghouls are physically affectionate, as a result of this need to be close and feel surrounded by loved ones. Of course, it's a generic rule, and it doesn't applie the same way to each individuals, but, most of the time, ghouls live off of casual touch, hand holding, hugs, cuddles, clasps on the shoulders, arms slung around waists, tails intertwining.
It's Satan's best joke, really, that Special can't even have that.
That he's so fucked up that not only no one bears to be in his presence, but he could also kill the poor ghoul who'd pity him enough to try and give him a hug.
Because Special's elements are all pulling him in different direction, trying to evade the too tight confine of his body, weak fire sorrowfuly begging to be smothered out, destructive quintessence furiously grasping at every bits of vital energy it can find, literaly sucking the life out of anyone stupid enough to have any kind of skin-to-skin contact with Special.
At least it's vaguely less awfull now that he managed to contain the devastating effect of his quintessence to his body - the screams of agony of the people who tried to approach him after his summoning, Omega's pained grunts as he backed away, the soft blanket he had held out for Special falling at his feet, the sheer terror on the ancient ghoul's face as he watched the humans unfortunate enough to be in Special's quintessence's range dropping like fly, oh, Special remembers it all so well.
Six Siblings died that way, simply because they were standing too close to him. Omega was, too, and is only alive because of his highly resistant nature, allowing him to stumble back in time.
It took weeks of sitting across from Omega, safe distance between them, training relentlessly to try and tame his quintessence, before Special could evolve around people without draining them. But it worked.
Provided he stays dressed head to toe, not a silver of skin showing, of course.
Special could, theoretically, be on the recieving end of ghoul's typical affection, the soft nudges, pats and caresses rythming their lives, long as no one makes contact with his skin, long as all those displays take place through a layer of clothing.
But then again, Special can't blame them for being wary, and prefering to stay away altogether. They're right, after all. You never know what might happen, if Special won't suddenly lose control and kill everyone in a three meters radius just by existing.
Special hasn't see anyone in days. Omega said he'd come by, but he hasn't yet. Special vaguely remembers something about Delta the...water ghoul, right ? Well, one of them anyway. There's a lot of those around, Special keeps forgetting who's who, doesn't see them enough to properly remember. He sticks to the dark corners, only goes out in the dead of the night, only watches the other ghouls from afar, except maybe for Omega.
But Omega's not here, hasn't been here for too long, busy taking care of Delta, whatever that means. Special wonders if he'll come back. Special wonders why he needs Omega to come to his room, why he can't bring himself to get up and go find the quint by himself. It's not like it's forbidden or anything. He just can't do it, the thought of opening his bedroom door in the middle of the day strictly unfathomable.
No, Special, at least during the day, needs someone to open it, someone to drag him outside if he really is needed, like for interviews, because apparently he's the only fucker who agreed to do them when neither Papa nor Omega are free.
A third choice, that would probably be even further down the list of candidates if it wasn't for his uncanny ability to entertain humans, with jokes and crudes, snarky remarks masking the cracks of his shattered soul.
So Special waits, sitting motionless in the middle of his bed. He hasn't seen anyone in days. He hasn't been touched since forever. No, that's not true. Omega cupped the back of his head the last time he was here, protected by the mask and balaclava Special always has to wears, and pressed a kiss to the metal covering his forehead.
It had nearly unraveld him.
Special doesn't know why Omega still bothers with him, what sick sense of responsability pushes the quint to visit Special as often as he can bear, why he insist on being so patient, so gentle, smiling with sadness in his eyes.
Special doesn't want pity. But he could never tell Omega not to come back.
His hair is getting too long. It's itchy in the back of his neck, keeps getting stuck in folds of fabric. Special shifts uncomfortably, thinking about stealing a pair of scissors and chopping it off himself. It's always a delicate task, cutting his hair : he's not good at it himself, but whenever Omega's doing it, he has to be extra cautious, avoiding any contact with Special's scalp, not even able to properly run his fingers through it. Special's hair is never perfect, always a bit messy, as a result, but now it's even worse.
He really needs Omega to come back.
It hits Special like a freight train.
He needs Omega to come back. He needs to hear his voice, to see the lines and creases on his face, the tired slope of his broad shoulders, the softness of his eyes. Special needs his tentative, fleeting touches, needs to talk to him, needs to be carefully held, even if it's all tainted with Omega's guilt, obligation and pity.
He needs to know Omega hasn't moved on, hasn't chalked him up as a lost cause, that Special hasn't lost the only comfort life ever granted him.
A knock startles him out of his thoughts, his whole being shaking with relief at the familiar pattern.
"Spesh ? Can I come in ?"
Special nearly sobs. His voice scratches in his throat.
"Yes."
Omega slips in the room. He's maskless, and Special drinks him in like a ghoul starved. He looks tired, like he hasn't slept in days, but. He's smiling. Omega is smiling, wide an bright, eyes gleaming. It makes Special's own lips pull in an unfamiliar direction, up up up, until concealed under the mask, his mouth weakly mimics Omega's.
"I have good news for you, Spesh. Really good news. Would you let me bring someone else in here ?"
Special visibly flinches, though still half frozen, cossed-legged on the bed. Omega's face softens in that way Special yearns for.
"It's okay, it'll be fine. I promise. Do you trust me ?"
Special doesn't need to think about the answer, nodding with more conviction than he ever displayed before. It gets a soft chuff out of Omega.
"Attaboy."
The quint moves with a grace Special envies, reaching for the door and opening it like it's the easiest thing in the world. Maybe, to him, it is.
The ghoul that steps in looks just as tired as Omega, if not more, but is also sporting a smile, hair an absolute mess, looking like it got chopped with absolutely no regard for the aesthetical result, as uneven as it is unruly.
"Spesh, this is Delta, remember ? Delta, this is Special."
Special blinks, unmoving as a statue, as he often is. Sometimes, he thinks that if he keeps perfectly still, the universe will forget that he is supposed to be, and simply let him stop existing.
Delta. Yes Special remembers. He doesn't smell like most water ghouls, though, it's quite disarming.
"Hello, Special," Delta breathes, barely above a whisper, "it's nice to officially meet you."
Unsure of what to do with that soft tone, with how genuine Delta apparently is, Special looks toward Omega, silently begging for guidance. The quint goes to sit next to him, one hand brushing his back ever so slightly. Special has to bite his tongue to contain a relieved whimper.
"He's here because we discovered something, and I have a theory," Omega explains.
Delta is standing straight, hands folded behind his back, withstanding Special's wary scrunity with an easy smile. Something about him is...off, Special notes. It's not necessarily bad, but it intrigues him.
Delta looks like a water ghoul. Blueish tint to his grey skin, gills, needle sharp fangs, webbed fingers, a few fish-like scales visible on his forearms. And yet...
Special doesn't realize he's leaning forward until Delta tilts his head in amusement. He leans back immediately, clasping his gloved hands tighter on his lap.
"I think," Omega goes on, "that he might be able to touch you without consequences."
It's instinctive, the way Special stiffens, shaking his head desperately at Omega, clearing his throat to find his voice again.
"No, no, no, Megs, it'll end up badly-"
"Listen- listen to me, Spesh, listen," Omega interrupts his panicked babbling, craddling his masked face between two big hands, "i'm not pulling this out of my ass, okay ? Delta here, well, we needed a new quintessence ghoul, at least for a little while, until we could summon a new one, and...Delta volunteer for an...elemental transition of some kind."
Special blinks, shaking in Omega's grip. Well, that explains the funny feeling, the strange scent.
"But...Delta's still water," Special rasps. Omega hums, nodding.
"Yes, but not exclusively. He's not...quintessence either. It's more like...he became a vessel quintessence can pass through. He can channel it from the outside, dig it from the source rather than something within him like us quintessence ghoul do, quite literaly pull it from thin air, let it flow through him, and release it."
Special frowns, trying to wrap his mind around all this.
"But...raw quintessence, the one that is everywhere, is impossible to access to unless you are a quint, because your quintessence connects you to it, opens you a door. Right ?"
It's more words than he's spoken in weeks outside of interviews, but excitement suddenly buzzes in his body, brain finally feeded something to think about, to analyse, to study. Special is a cerebral creature, no matter what people might thing, and such an incredible discovery makes him feel almost alive.
Omega laughs, a breathless, amazed little thing.
"I know. But, apparently, we managed to crack that door open for Delta. He doesn't have much control over the quintessence he releases, but it's enough for the Clergy, for now."
Special glances toward Delta from the corner of his eyes.
"That's...you wrote it down, right ? Records of this could be incredibly useful-"
The smile he gets makes Special's heart miss a beat. Omega looks so fond, so full of love, it's almost painful.
"I did. I'll hand you my notes. But, back to you. What your quintessence does, is devouring energy out of living things-"
Special hangs his head down, shame creeping up his spine, wrapping around his throat.
"Hey, none of that, Spesh," Omega soothes, pulling his head up by the metal point of the mask's chin, "let me finish. What if someone was full of an energy they can fully dispose of ? If someone could let your quintessence take without it harming them, that means they could touch you. Delta could touch you."
Special blinks.
"But...you can't touch me."
"Because your quintessence takes the one at my core - drains me dry of a source of power so entangled in my being that losing it would mean losing me. But Delta's quintessence doesn't come from him."
Slowly, Delta comes closer, kneeling by the bed, offering his bare hand to Special, smiling, and Special- can't understand why. Why anyone would willingly take such risks - first the attempted elemental transition, now this.
Omega brushes Special's shoulder.
"Please, try it. I know...how hard isolation is for you. Please, sparkle, try. If anything goes wrong i'll pull Delta away before any real damages can be done, I promise."
The coppery taste of blood hits Special's tongue, and it's the only reason he's aware he's biting his lip. Then Delta talks.
"I volunteered, Special. I know this is going to work. I trust Omega's theory, and. I think I can trust you, too."
This time Special does sob.
"If I hurt you..."
"You won't. Give me your hand, Special, it'll be okay."
And Special is terrified. Terrified that it won't work, that he'll hurt Delta, who seems the nicest ghoul you could ever wish for. Terrified that it'll work, that the one time he manages to touch someone without killing them will kill him, that all it would take would be a brush of skin against his own to destroy him.
Despite all that, Special slowly, oh so slowly takes one glove off, revealing too-pale skin and twitchy fingers. Delta' smile widens, then the air shifts a bit, starts blurring around him. One of his eyes turns purple, his skin shimering slightly.
"It's a bit like holding my breath," the water (?) ghoul explains, "i can't keep it for too long, maybe a couple of minutes, after, i have to release it. Open the valves, kind of. But, if I just keep them open, just let quintessence flow in and out freely, like this-"
Another shift in the air. The shimer on Delta's skin dims, his features relaxing.
"Then I can keep it that way as long as i like, effortlessly for the most part. That's how we can touch. I'm ready when you are."
He's going to do this. Special is going to do this. His hand is shaky when he wraps it loosely around Delta's - ready to pull away at any moment - but the second their skin makes contact, he gasps and can't help tightening it.
Delta doesn't flinch. His skin glints a bit more, but that's it. Special's quintessence is hungrily drinking in the one flowing though Delta, but he doesn't need it. He can let Special take it.
Salt. Salt on his tongue, now. Special is crying. Holding onto Delta's hand for dear life, shoulders shaking, Special is crying, the water ghoul shushing him softly, thumb drawing circles on the back of his hand.
Omega helps unclasping the mask, watching with tears of his own as Special takes it off, throws it somewhere, who cares, where the balaclava and second glove quickly follow.
Delta opens his arm, still not letting go. Special sobs so hard he's sure it's going to turn him inside out, slidding off the bed and into Delta's firm, tender embrace, burrying his face in the water ghoul's neck, finally able to touch, to feel, truly feel.
He can't see it, but Omega's crying in earnest now, Delta fighting tears as well.
Special isn't okay. Special might never be okay, Delta might be the only person he'll ever get to touch, it might stop working at some point, there might be a catch, but oh, Special doesn't care.
He'd trade his infernal eterinity for this moment in time, folded in arms that hold him like something precious.
#what special doesn't know is that the other ghouls constantly ask about him#even those who don't know him much#they think letting have some space is the best since he seems so keen on staying in his room#they don't know that his self-impose loneliness is killing him#and despite what special thinks#omega doesn't do any of this out of obligation#he cares#he cares so much#their relationship in this breaks me#i hope all the quintessence shit is at least half understandable#there's probably plot holes but oh well#delta is too good for this wolrd btw#i tried something different for his elemental transition#he's still water#but he can sort of#welcome quintessence i guess#anyway#hope that makes some sort of sense#special i'm so sorry for putting you through this#special ghoul#omega ghoul#delta ghoul#nameless ghouls#the band ghost

Sigh...
I had Allurance for a moment only for vld to make it a ghost ship with Lance now forever pining after Allura's death.
Shiro was finally able to be the "White Paladin" of the team but he barely interacted with them or even looked at Keith.
Hunk and Pidge had amazing screentime but Matt and a few others got sidelined and forgotten.
And Keith? He apparently wasn't even in Shiro's "wedding" with that rando--Curtis--even though he pretty much has been implying since s1 that Shiro is his family and his guiding light so therefore someone he would always be there for especially in his ups and downs of life.
Sheith held on all this time only to act like coworkers in the finale but not anything more like they have forgotten how to be best friends until it was convenient for the plot.
And Allura? The girl who lost everything? She ended up being almost like Honerva--sacrificing everything that is her to help her new family get their happy endings even though she could never attain hers.
I loved the fighting, the mecha transformations, the development of the MFEs, the plot, and the final showdown against Haggar but--
--To give Lance and Allura happiness and hint on giving her a new belonging only to stripe it away as a "price" all while "subtlety" diminishing Keith and Shiro's importance to each other to make their disjointed individual endings "make sense" outside of their s1-s7 buildup and somehow mesh both ships to fail in the end as a "this was the only way to save the universe" ploy-----
--Despite the damn show constantly paralleling the lesson on how Zaggar's love turned to a twisted hate that destroyed the universe and it was up to literally Allurance and even Sheith's love that actually saved the galaxy throughout the series--
----Only to rip both ships off as a sacrifice to satisfy the plot just enough to "justify" their demise as a means to an end. That metaphorical 'smoking gun' we expected to go off at the end? Over Allurance and Sheith? Was nothing but an illusion and wasn't even loaded to begin with apparently.
It is aggravating and disappointing.
I really loved this whole season but that last episode completely went against it's own theme.
They wouldn't have let Allura sake herself let alone let her do it alone--even with Honerva.
Lance wouldn't have even accepted the thought of Allura with that dark entity in her for long or even allow her to die or even worse be forced to love her ghost for the rest of his human life.
Allura wouldn't have wanted Lance to pine after her and not move on from her. She wouldn't have asked that of him by giving him her marks as a way of keeping a part of her quintessence in him.
Keith wouldn't just estrange himself from the one person that made up his whole universe especially after his oath to Shiro of always being there. He, at least, should have been the best man in the wedding if he was the selfless type to watch the canonical love of his life get with someone else.
And Shiro? He wouldn't have remained sidelined til the very end when they only needed him for his Atlas to only help boost Voltron and he clearly, while became a pseudo-Paladin for a moment, did not make any direct change or impact on the 6-man team. He especially should have had a direct moment of any form of romantic attraction with someone in the show and not as a damn fucking footnote of a "One Year Later" offscreen and unwritten romance with a character we didn't even know the name of at first nor should Shiro's final arc be seen as a "oh btw he got married and retired? Idk we keeping it vague so we give you lgbt rep!"
Despite the clearly, already written in the show, deeper bond he has had with Keith since even before s1 and that now makes his supposed bond with Keith a moot point and now unnecessary since it did not deliver in any way or reach a pinnacle in the climax nor did it have any proper closure to even indicate whether it could have or couldn't have been in the first place.
I have a lot of amazing points I would have shared earlier if I hadn't watched the last episode but that last scene completely turned the whole s8 around it's own head and practically told it to go fuck itself.
They try to amend it with a cheap superficial "Praise Allura Day" and despite a few of the team indeed having some form of ending--the main cast which consists of Keith, Shiro, Allura and yes Lance too by his association with her as her boyfriend--was literally given the short end of the stick.
Keith was sidelined and not allowed to act but be an observer at the end with none of his usual prowess, Lance now forever will chase after Allura's ghost and be haunted by her, Allura, herself, died for literally no reason than to right Honerva and Zarkon's wrongs, and Shiro wasn't allowed to even be a part of his paladin family and only there to remind people--at the last 5 seconds--that he's gay and apparently not single anymore with literally a no-name guy (actually it's Curtis but I had to look that shit up) that looked too much like Adam for my liking and while completely disregarding everything he did for Keith and vise versa.
Man that last episode is like Bleach's last chapter.
A completely different almost rewritten reality from the entire series itself. It overturned all the canonization of seven seasons under one episode.
And whether it was DreamWorks or JDS & LM's doing is irrelevant.
While it was an incredibly impactful season it did it with a fucking high cost.
Not about the ships per say--except Allurance for why make it happen only to destroy them immediately later?--but rather the complete turn arounds it had to do to try and justify why they made it that way.
That is what's so aggravating and disappointing.
Not the plot.
But the writing standpoint of trying to explain plotpoint A to upside down B. In a way, they became Haggar themselves and rewrote B and inverted it to make no sense whatsoever but pretend that it was "the only way" for it to end.
I expected an open ending for Sheith or actual development of Keith with Acxa and Shiro with Curtis if need be--and it had to be extremely good--but they couldn't even do that right.
And Allurance? They planned for Lance and Allura since the beginning but apparently the price Lance had to pay for his happy ending was her life out of the blue and at the last second.
And that hurts me.
This isn't as bad as Bleach's notorious ending but this is a definite close second at how they completely turned things around to try and make the ships happen just so they can fail while preaching how the theme of vld is found family and true love saving the universe.
Too bad the main trio--plus Lance now too--weren't allowed to partake in that lesson or in true happiness.
I still love Allurance and I will always love Sheith.
But what they did to Allura and Shiro completely ruined both Lance and Keith's endings.
And that breaks my heart to see it as the price they paid for daring to love them and trying to make them happy.
Lance can't truly be happy now since he can't move on and let Allura go or rather he won't to keep her memory alive in him.
And Keith didn't even get to watch the man he loved get with someone else and is now estranged from his best friend he swore he loved so much he literally was willing to die with Shiro and allow the universe to pay for it.
And what of Pidge and Hunk? We know what they accomplished but what about their personal lives? Is Hunk with Shay? Is Pidge still single? Is Matt still with his girlfriend? What of Acxa and the others? It is so vague with no clear answer and that is also disheartening.
Ah, sorry for my ramble. I stayed up to watch it from 3am and it's now almost 9am as I finish typing this jumbled vent post.
I'm both happy it's over and saddened it ended that way. While I didn't expect Sheith to happen I never imagined it like this and while I hoped for Allurance I didn't want them to pay the price for loving each other to the point of ending them.
I'm sad but I won't take it out on the writers--idk if I trust them at the moment--but I am still grateful they gave me Shiro and so many other characters to love.
I just hope they understand what they did and how much they disappointed nearly everyone with this "twist" ending.
Imma go sleep now I still have a lot to process.
I thought we'd get to see them all get happy endings but apparently only half of them did.
And last but not least no one suffered more than Coran when he found out--I feel so broken for him the most since he couldn't keep the promise to King Alfor to keep Allura safe--which is what his whole point in life was and what defined him as both a mentor and father-uncle figure to Allura and his new family.
And I think that's the one that hurts the most.
Okay I'm tired and sleepy so I'll be sure to interact with yall later for better analysis of s8 when I'm in a better state of mind.
Peace out yall.
Edit: Keith apparently IS in the wedding but he’s literally behind Shiro the whole time that it took me a few rewinds to see his ponytail and slight show of his profile. Geez way to hide him from the camera angle DW it almost made it look like he wasn’t even there if you didn’t pay attention behind Shiro and gave us the impression he wasn't there to begin with.

Chapter 2 aka Where Haggar decides to further fuck up Lotor’s shit post rescue.
The first piece for my Birthday Bomb!
Agony.
Agony was all she could experience for the first few moments after she pulled herself from the twisting ether of the universe’s collective quintessence. It was but one way for druids to travel and no one was better at navigating the swirling corridors than Haggar herself.
It was a way to teleport instantaneously, to leave behind the weakness of the flesh temporarily in order to move from point A to point B.
If not for that particular talent, she wasn’t sure how well her escape from Team Voltron would have gone.
She had been so close. Her claws had rested upon the Blue Paladin’s throat. He had been at her mercy! The others were about to bow to her whims, to give themselves up in an act of misguided camaraderie and love for one another.
And then that blasted Blue Lion had shoved her face through the wall and the Blue Paladin, the weapon that Lotor had spent so much time lovingly crafting, threw her like a rag doll.
His spirit had not been cowed. There were no fractures in his soul in that moment. He had faced her down with a fierce snarl, uncaring of the way her claws had ripped at his already scarred throat.
If anything, Lotor had only made him all the more dangerous. When she did get her hands on him, it would take a long, long time before she could break him down to a point that she would make him useful.
And with her Emperor’s health in such decline, it would be a long while before she could garner the forces to lead such an ambitious endeavor.
With grasping arms, Haggar dragged herself over to the nearest wall, black blood smearing the grimy floors of Lotor’s flagship, the wounds at her shoulder and hip continuing to bleed sluggishly, even as the quintessence that made up the core of her very existence worked tirelessly in heal her.
She was a being of nearly pure quintessence now, one with the void of those who existed beyond the scope of mortal comprehension. Such wounds wouldn’t kill her.
Oh no. Far from it.
But they were painful, both physically and in the blow they dealt to her pride. She had let herself grow cocky and assured in her success. She had depended on the faulty services of others, even if those others were her druids, her children as it were.
She had forgotten the prowess of the members of Team Voltron. Haggar had blissfully looked past the fact that those warriors had been the ones to incapacitate her beloved Emperor.
It was a foolish mistake and one she would not be prone to making in the future. She would remember the fierce skill of her Champion that wonderfully sculpted tool of warfare. She would not suffer another wound at the hands of a weapon she had created.
And then the half-breed. She would do well to remember the desperation a mate bond could inspire and the strength it could fuel. He would not find her as easy an opponent the next time they met.
There would be another meeting. She guaranteed it. The plans for the Blue Paladin had not changed. Lotor had given her a glorious taste of a gift, a weapon for her people that could potentially take Voltron down.
Permanently.
She would learn patience from this encounter. Millennia without true opposition could make one weak when it came to actual confrontation.
Voltron had already been most useful in changing the way things were done. Every encounter with them grew her understanding by leaps and bounds. Particularly in that of quintessence and her pet project with the Robeasts.
And the humans themselves…
They were so extraordinarily adaptable in comparison to many of the other races that found themselves beneath Galran rule. The Champion had taken to the weapon she had created like a fish to water. The alterations to the Blue Paladin’s genetics could bear all kinds of fruit.
What she wouldn’t give to have a larger pool to draw from…
Her experimentation could lead to the death of resistance for all time.
The thought bolstered her and she rested against the wall of the hallway, breaths little more than wet wheezes as her body redirected energy and quintessence to the injuries she had suffered. The wound at her hip was painful, almost unbearably so.
The half-breed had nearly wedged his blasted luxite blade into her very bones. Such an injury did not heal easily and even the slightest movement taxed it. Her persistence in fighting against the Champion and the Altean whelp did not aid in her current predicament.
She felt a snarl curl over her lips at the thought of Altea’s poor lost princess and she curled her claws tightly. Allura had nearly cost Haggar everything when they had attacked Zarkon’s flagship.
Between her and those traitors, her precious prodigies, the Druids of the Four Directions were no more. Her power to experiment with Robeasts was put on hold until she could adequately train new ones to take their place.
And after this fiasco, such an endeavor would be time-consuming. More so than she had previously thought. Thordis had been one of her first picks and now thanks to Lotor’s lax security, they were dead.
The Altean child would get what was coming to her. Haggar swore it. She would bind the Princess in chains so heavy that even the hope of escape would be burdened. She would be a symbol of the death of the resistance. A symbol even greater than her current figurehead status.
A child Queen without a kingdom to return to. It was so tragically poetic that Haggar couldn’t help but smile.
As the burn of agony slowly ebbed from the wound on her hip, Haggar couldn’t help the way her thoughts turned to wayward Prince of the Empire. Even if Zarkon was well enough to command, he had still requested Lotor’s return, if for no other reason than to solidify his hold.
But the brat had done little in the way of real help. It came as no surprise that he was banished almost as soon as he had begun to act.
His preoccupation with aesthetics was almost as bad as Zarkon’s obsession with the Black Lion. Perhaps this would tame the Prince a bit.
A wicked smile crossed Haggar’s face and she pushed to her feet, ignoring the burning in her shoulder as she glided down the halls.
This was an opportunity. An opportunity so rare that she had not even thought to hope for its arrival.
If she was correct, the Blue Paladin had not left this ship without getting in at least some form of revenge, and if not him, then the Red Paladin would not be convinced to leave without some sort of recompense.
Lotor would owe her.
He would owe her his very life.
No longer would he be content to flaunt his strength in her face. No longer would he ignore her council.
Because it would no longer be council.
It would be an order.
A life debt to a Galra was more serious than anyone could understand. And he would owe her one so great that it would consume all that arrogance he wore like a cloak.
It didn’t take long to find the mess left of him.
She blasted the faulty control room doors open without a second thought, the blinking metal splayed wide and smoking as she stepped through.
Immediately the stench of blood and viscera assailed her and she wrinkled her nose, turning her sickly yellow gaze to crumpled heap of Galran Prince left against the wall.
Blue black pooled around his body, remaining eye half-lidded and glazed. The whole left side of his face was gouged and grotesque, a mess that even made Haggar’s stomach turn.
She padded closer softly, eyes searching out the rest of his injuries. The caved in plates on his chest dripped with more blood and she huffed out a sigh.
A Galran blaster then.
The Blue Paladin had been the one to take vengeance.
A perfect shot to the chest with a faulty blaster and then the eye.
A trophy perhaps?
For a sharpshooter as accomplished as the Blue Paladin, it was somewhat ironic that he chose to partially blind his captor.
Haggar could appreciate some irony.
“Mother…?” Lotor croaked, voice so weak it was little more than a whisper.
Haggar frowned, containing the strange ripple at the core of her being that reacted at that almost pleading word.
She was no mother.
She was Haggar, witch of Zarkon and destroyer of worlds. She was made of quintessence and stardust, the anger and fury of thousands of thwarted souls shrieking in her veins.
She was more than a mother.
“You are mistaken, Lotor.”
Lotor’s remaining eyelid fluttered briefly, a hint of lucidity returning to his gaze. “Haggar….I take it…that you failed?”
A snarl curled over her lips and she stepped closer, taking no care to be gentle with her steps. Pointed shoes dug painfully into Lotor’s sprawled legs and he groaned. “No thanks to you. You couldn’t even properly break the human. You were too concerned with your ideals of aesthetic and your own wants that you grew distracted. You were foolish, Lotor.”
“A reprimand…on my death bed.” Lotor chuckled, “I cannot say….I expected any less.”
“Death bed? Oh no.” Haggar smirked, a brief flash of panic crossing the Prince’s face, “You won’t be dying here, Prince Lotor.”
“I prefer…death’s embrace over…anything you might…offer.” Lotor hissed, trying without success of pull away from her.
“I don’t think you have much choice in the matter, Lotor.” She sniffed, crouching in front of him, their faces level, “Because you will not be dying here. Your life will continue from here.”
“I don’t want your help.” Lotor growled, “I refuse…to owe you a life debt.”
Haggar pressed a hand lovingly to the unmarred side of Lotor’s face, a grin pulling at her lips. “We’ve had more than enough of what you want, Lotor. From now on, things will go as I dictate.”
Quintessence sparked from her hands and danced across Lotor’s skin, a slapdash patch-job blazing into existence.
There was no saving his eye.
But she had crafted replacements before. They were always better than the limb before.
He howled as her magic went to work, the quintessence under her command mending as quickly as she dared in her weakened state.
Lotor wouldn’t die.
Not just yet.
She had plans for him…and his precious trophy.
Happy flipping birthday to me!!

Prediction Scorecard: 4/5
I may or may not have written a thousand word essay about season four. Apparently, I had more feelings than initially believed.
1) Keith leaves Voltron (CHECK)
Spot on. Timing was off by an episode, because really, first episode? But I was right in saying he leaves early. Plus, way back when, I said there was no way Keith was flying in those coalition shows. Also correct.
What I wasn’t expecting is HOW he would leave. Jesus Christ, just rip out our hearts and dance on them. He deliberately distanced himself from the team and FORCED Shiro to step back into the Black Lion. The strength of character required to put one’s self in a position of loathing in order to lift someone else is extraordinary. When Shiro doubted himself, Keith never faltered for a second, doing everything in his power to put Shiro back in the Black Lion, at the expense of himself. This scene, this selflessness, blew me away. That, for me, will be one of the stand out scenes from this show, easily.
It KILLED me to see that disappointed expression on Shiro’s face, before they understood what he did. But what did we get out of it? KEITH/SHIRO HUG 2.0!!!! AW YISS!
Then to accept a mission that would put him out of direct line of communication for months? His dedication is commendable, but it does remind me of a certain, doped up, supervillain…
2) Lotor is going to be betrayed by Haggar. (CHECK-ish)
Okay, so maybe not Haggar EXACTLY, but she definitely had her suspicions, and planted the seed which led to Narti’s unwilling betrayal. Lotor lost a lot this season.
He lost his position, something he didn’t want in the first place, but used to his advantage. No big deal. Then he lost Narti, forcing him to take her out, which in turn caused him to lose the trust and faith of his generals. Then, he lost his immunity as Prince, having the entire Galra empire focus their attention on killing him. He lost one of his ships, and his ability to pursue his goal of traveling between dimensions.
So, on the point of his generals, I am disappointed at how easily they turned on him. I understand they were shaken by Lotor killing Narti, but to just flip so quickly? I don’t think Lotor ever explained why he did that, adding to their unease, but… I suppose this increase’s the desperation Lotor must be feeling.
Also, on the point of diabolical tyrants, Zarkon is back, on his own two Quintessence fueled feet, and has even worse tunnel vision than before! He doesn’t even know what “half-assed” means. I feel as though, to a degree, Haggar understands this about him, and steers the canon, but she also uses it as a way to keep him distracted. They have a strange dynamic.
3) Pidge finds Matt (CHECK)
YEAH, WHAT DID I SAY? IN THE COMFORT OF MY OWN HOME WITH FULL EPISODE BUILDUP. The graveyard scene was a nice touch, very clever, but you can’t fool me! I especially liked the flashback scenes, because guess what?
KEITH AND SHIRO ARE IN THE BACKGROUND AT THE KERBEROS MISSION LAUNCH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Do you hear that? That’s the sound of a thousand Pre-Kerberos fanfiction writers praising the Gods for their good fortune.
Dear Matt, jesus. I can’t believe the writers actually made him 5000% the Meme Lord Tumblr immediately pegged him to be. Artists and writers had his personality cracked DAY ONE. That interaction with him, Allura, and Lance? Fucking. Gold. Shiro’s reaction was mellow, but the little hug was a nice touch. *listens to distant cries of Shatt shippers* Fueled for years to come.
4) Shiro and the Black Lion (CHECK)
This goes back to my first point, so I won’t get into this too much more, but Keith basically sacrificed his standing among the paladins in order to force Shiro to accept his place as rightful pilot of the Black Lion. He is the Black Paladin. Keith knew it from the beginning. Now Shiro knows it too.
*cough* So, episode four. Holy shit, episode four, The Voltron Show! God that was painful, but it had a few zingers. Such as:
Replacing all the paladins with better, newer ones! Except you, Shiro; you’re our most popular character!
Shiro: I need to make a speech about joining forces and Voltron- Coran: Nope! Heroes don’t talk, just flex their muscles and pose. Now put on this super tight shirt and get out there!
5) We learn more about Keith’s mother (Yeah, no)
My one scratch is about Keith’s mother. I’ll admit, I’m a tad disappointed that nothing came of the vlog bit, at least not for this season, but I have hope that it will be addressed next season. By the time we catch up, Keith has already been training with the BoM for a while, obvious from his leveled-up ninja moves, jfc.
Final Thoughts:
Episode One, Code of Honor, was an emotional rollercoaster I was not prepared to ride, but damn if it wasn’t a fantastic opening. Keith and Shiro’s dynamic is such a pleasure to watch, and, as a bonus, we got more Sheithy goodness to fuel our fanfics and fanworks for months.
Um, still love Keith. Like, I loved him, A LOT, from the getgo, but now? *swoons* He’s too good for this world. Code of Honor and A New Defender, best episodes. Both show just how far Keith is willing to go for the ones he cares about and a cause he believes in. They better not fucking squander it.
Meme Lord Matt vs Lover Boy Lance
Lotor is brilliant, fucking brilliant. He’s driven, intelligent, manipulative, but adaptable. He’s a wildcard, and I can’t wait to see what he’s capable of.
Referring back to my first predictions for this season, I figured that Keith leaving the team would end with him teaming up with Lotor in some manner to fight against Zarkon. This wasn’t quite how I pictured it, but Voltron and Lotor teaming up is now a very real possibility. I’ll mark it as half a point.
Hunk needs an episode. A good, solid episode, not the nonsense they pulled in The Voltron Show! No, that shit got old real quick. On the plus side, we did get Hunk straight DROPPING a Galra commander with an impressive flying elbow. Perfection.
Lance’s speech at the end was wonderful. His connection to Allura and the Blue lion made it special, and showed a level of maturity that we rarely get to see from him. I very much like this side of him.
#voltron#s4 spoilers#spoilers#i sat down intending to write an essay#so mission accomplished?#and 4 people will read it#meh#this isnt even everything#gotta do my rewatch

Ah man season 3 ya’ll...
Oh man does this show give...
Lotor is more than I could have ever hoped for
and his generals are...thin...but great and i love the one that will crush me with her thighs
We can put all the ship wars to rest: Zarkon/Haggar is the OTP of the show and I am staking my flag here, least problematic ship 10/10 get behind me or you’re cancelled
(jk jk no one is cancelled)
Allura’s bayard is a WHIP
SHE HAS A WHIP YA’LL
AND MY WIFE THINKS SHE IS WORTHY OF A FIGHT
AND SHE KICKED LOTOR’S ASS
I LOVE IT
Keith was interesting for longer than three minutes!!! And he had a narrative arc that lasted more than an episode!!! That’s great!!!
...as much as it takes.
that start was squirrley, holy shit
voltron has always had a problem with pacing, both in its story arcs and in individual episodes, but the first three episodes of this season were a drag to get through
which would be fine if this was 11-13 episodes like that last two seasons were -- if we’re spending the time to tie up the loose ends of last season, it’s less impactful if that was a quarter of the following season rather than half of the following season
the episode count had to be a compromise to get the season out in a timely fashion, which means the creative team didn’t have the time to structure a season-length story that was wholly satisfying and that’s kind of a shame
because what results feels like a filler season
which it’s not
this is not a filler season. everything has a purpose here
so what i, personally, am left with is a mix of frustration and enjoyment that i haven’t felt for Voltron previously and am hoping will be smoothed over in the near future
i hate the shiro-not-shiro bullshit
like, yeah, sure, introduce a character who is CLEARLY a clone of Shiro an episode after introducing a character who is CLEARLY an alternate version of Shiro
i understand why the clone thing...it puts the audience on edge and makes us wonder what Operation Kuron is about and puts in a backdoor for future conflict
but i’m underwhelmed and disappointed that the braver decision of letting clone!Shiro pilot the Black Lion was avoided.
so rather than creating danger and suspense where there is a potential enemy in control of the strongest weapon in the universe, butting heads with one of the team leads and actively weakening Voltron by pushing out a competent pilot we just have...a guy...just a guy...he looks like Shiro and he gives commands like Shiro and he thinks like Shiro but he fucking isn’t and he’s not fucking affecting the plot right now so why is he here?
what’s his purpose?
why’d he have to wake up when Shiro disappeared?
he could have had a tragic (and satisfying) single-episode story arc
which could’ve lead to us finding a whole trove of Shiro clones and discovering what Operation Kuron is
*sigh*
with all of that said, i did enjoy season 3 and i’m interested to see where we go from here. like, this feels very end-game to me, which i know it’s not so it’ll be nice to see what happens after this and how our plucky hero defeat the quintessence zombies being controlled by evil extra-planar bacteria

Voltron Season 3 Thoughts
Voltron Season 3 Thoughts
OH BOY I HAVE BEEN WAITING SO LONG FOR THIS SEASON!!!
Alright, time for episode 1. Warning!!! Spoilers
Epsiode 1: Changing of the Guard - Welp. It opens up to Keith desperately looking or trying to find any hope of Shiro still being….around… - Allura is having her own problems… - You know….I forgot about the Blade of Marmora helping them out… - Look at Lance….doing acrobats in a giant mecha cat - And then there is Hunk, thinking outside the box and doing a good job at it. - Ahhh man…..no one trusts the Blade of Marmora….I mean…I understand why they are hesitate or downright refuse….but it still kinda hurts… - Pidge is still looking for Matt, I see…. - OMG I love that outfit, Coran! XD - Shiro was brought up. And Keith isn’t having even the thought that he might not come back. - That was a very long shot of Haggar staring at Zarkon’s crystal healing pod thing. - Oooooohhhhh no one knows Zarkon isn’t up. Maybe he’s dead? Maybe he’s in a coma? Who knows? But Haggar is taking precautions to make sure no one knows…hmmm - So the cute Galra girl that is somehow connected to Lotor I’m sure…..can act like a chameleon? - WOW KEITH WOW. THAT WAS SO STUPID OMFG - Oooooohhh an arena! What fight are we gonna see? - You know…I don’t know whether to be relieved or a bit scared that these Galra are pretty dang smart. ……I actually like that they caught on to Haggar’s game. - WAIT A SECOND. Why is Lotor exiled?!?!? - Half breeds huh…..(Keith bonding moment anyone?) - HOW THE FUCK DID LOTOR HEAR ANY OF THAT?!?! - ohhh his little team must have told him….somehow…….ok who there has telepathic powers? - You KNOW….if he’s a half breed…..and prossibly Galra and Altean….does that mean he has the abilities of BOTH species? - FUCK! Ok I kinda like that he doesn’t kill or enslave all the people he comes across…..Loyalty can get you pretty far compared to fear… - Oh no he is good….Wasted energy in fighting people you have conquered instead of gaining loyalty and multiplying all their armies…….its a good strategy but bad news for the paladins… - Oooohhhh it was all an act. Interesting. I really like that too….also very bad for the paladins though…But so far Lotor is pretty damn interesting. - EVERYONE JUST LOOKS TO LANCE WOW - Episode ends on them going to figure out how to reform Voltron o3o - We all know where this is going…
Episode 2: Red Paladin - This could red to both Keith and Lance… It opens up to the awesome galra ladies. They are good. Nd one can see through the eyes of her cat. Awesome o3o Lotor is so persuasive….he’s really god at this whole manipulating thing. - OMG Pidge and Hunk are finally asking the real questiong XD - oh shit things are going down o-o - Keith I would NEVER trust youy with a secret - Keith….I feel sorry for you…. You’re like the reluctant anime protagonist - aww man poor allura… - OMFG Blue isn’t responding to Lance??? DX - I guess it knows red needs Lance now… - I can’t- I CAN actually believe he is trying pickup line on Blue - Alright !!! Keith pilots Black, Lance pilots Red, and Allura pilots Blue o3o - At least Lotor knows how to get info and he isn’t stupid… - Allura wearing pink to honor fallen warriors ~ - Lance giving her the blue bayard ! - Keith!!!!!!!!!!! DX That wasn’t that great….not only could you have told them about your plan, but you could have stopped to discuss this with everyone, especially since there are THREE of you that aren’t really that great with how to pilot the lions yet.
Epsiode 3: The Hunted - Lotor is gonna go fight them - Yeah Keith…so far….your leadership skills….aren’t showing… - At least you own up to your mistakes keith… - OMFG “What would Lance do?” ?!?!?! ALLURA!!! XD - Allura and Keith and Lance have to all bond with their lions now… - SHIT LOTOR FOUND HER - “HUNK I’M A LEG!!!” XD - Ok Lotor and Keith’s little speech about leadership and fighting later…is too parallel to each other…
Episode 4: Hole in the Sky - Oooohhh Altean distress code….no….any time things like this happen…its usually a trap - ALLURA!!! Now you’re being stupid! I mean I know Altean and all that but come on!!! - You know…this ship…and quintessence….and Pidge’s understand of reality isn’t the same as whatever it is that is surrounding the ship or the source of all that….So….from what I’m getting is that…..Slav was introduced for a reason and if its not anything from this reality then….what about another reality? - Voltron isn’t being affected….and wasn’t Voltron connected to quintessence? I hope this is another reality guys… o-o - Coran thinks they are dead…but they aren’t….HMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMM - I wonder if there are actually still living Alteans then….just in another reality…. - Alternate reality…where is Slav when you need him? - Also if Shiro isn’t in another reality then idk where the fuck he is.. - Also the inside of this ship reminds me of the “Upside Down” from Stranger things and that’s also….a parallel reality/universe… - HOLY FUCK IS THAT SLAV?!?!?!? O_O - Also….<_< - You know I kinda figure it was Shiro…but im like 99% sure it ISNT Shiro….SO who the fuck are you dopple ganger? <_< I bet you’re an alternate reality shiro… - OH HE’S GOT AN ACCENT SO I GUESS WE ALL KNOW WHERE THIS IS GOING - it IS Sven. Well that’s a neat twist. Can’t say I didn’t see it coming… - Ok wait…XD I just think its HILARIOUS that this alternate reality Shiro, Sven, is actually getting along and working with this alternate reality Slav - “Empress” <_< Well something tells me that still got the wrong person…. - I wouldn’t trust these Alteans….if its an alternate reality…then that means that the alteans were the so called “bad guys” right? - You know if at some point down the series….Lotor or whoever doesn’t make another Voltron to fight Voltron….I’m gonna be disappointed they didn’t take that chance. - WHAT DO YOU MEAN ALL REALITIES?!?! JUST STICK TO YOUR REALITY!!!! - OOOOhhhhh Pidge is onto them!!! - Welp….they take away free will…of course… - The GUNS OF GAMARA OMFG XD - OMFG ALLURA QUIT BEING STUPID PLEASE ;-; - AAaannndddd now they are stuck there… QUICK! PIDGE! Get that part of the comet thing you cut off and use it to reality hop! - omfg Slav kills me XD - You know this kinda mirrors Shiro holding Lance back in season 1… - Well FUCK. Now not only can the Galra conquer the universe….but now they can conquer other realities too….great -_- - Pidge I hope you kept that piece….
Episode 5: The journey - ok I see a preview image of shiro o-o - Is this gonna be a flashback to when he was first captured? - ok this is weird…I cant tell if it’s a dream, flashback, or possibly current shiro….maybe all of them together? - Damn Shiro has some long hair…..idk if it suits him or not… - OH BOY…some weird flashback thing…that’s o-o creepy… - ok hold up…if that’s shiro…but that person is also shiro…and if this isn’t a dream….then maybe….because shiro was such a good warrior….that they might have….cloned him? - I mean….long haired shiro even has a scar on his face so it cant be past shiro unless this happened after he got the scar….but …idk…. Hmmm…..i think this is current… - Yeah its gotta be current…he has long hair and when he was found in season 1 his hair was still short…plus he has the white hair as well - but his outfit….HMMMMMMMMM……..i cant figure it out… - Whoops Haggar wants Lotor followed….but Lotor now has the trust of most Galra……I think he’s gonna try and overthrow Haggar and Zarkon now… - Well….what kind of giant fish creatures are on this icy planet? - Did…..did shiro just say he killed it??? When??? - Donttrustthatlake DONTTRUSTTHATLAKE!!! - I TOLD YOU!!! DX - I was thinking “someone please save him” but I didn’t actually think it would happen o-o - Aren’t those the two creatures/aliens from that meeting? - No its not… - oh cool so this IS current - A lot of time must have passed for his hair to grow out that long…. - that outfit shiro wears looks familiar - FUCK ARE YOU TELLING ME SHIRO WAS THERE EVEN BACK THEN?!?!? DX SHIRO!!! - It couldn’t have been that long ago then….Keith was still out looking ……not enough time for shiro’s hair to grow to such length…. - Dude how the ever loving FUCK are you still alive??? 7 days…no food…no water….low on oxygen… - OOOOOOOOOOOHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH The black lion senses shiro o-o - THEY FOUND HIM FUCK YEAH!!!!!!!!!!! That was a lot sooner than I expected but FUCK YEAH!!
Epsiode 6: Tailing a Comet - Lance and Allura are awesome!!! - Poor Shiro….I get the feeling he wont be able to trust Black for a while… - Ok he has short hair again. But he look different and I cant quite put my finger on why… - It’s his hair…. - ……………………you know shiro is back but….i wonder if everyone is ready to give up their current positions…..and give shiro back leadership and the black lion… - Lance NOOOOOOOOOOOooooooooooooooooo Don’t give up blue ;-; - Aww man…not only did Lance have to go through this…but now Shiro….FUCK - Aww man….they gave Keith the position of Leader…but take it back as soon as Shiro comes back…..they don’t have much faith in Keith… I mean yeah…..his plan is ehh compared to Shiro’s because if Lotor gets that ship then he can be practically unstoppable…..but I do understand the position that Keith and Shiro are now in… - Ooooooooooohhhh was she that person he helped in the Weblum? - THAT WAS A NIFTY TRICK KEITH!!! XD - These poor guys are just learning about all this stuff … - I get the feeling this chick might change sides….What even are all their names? - Ooohhh Haggar doesn’t know anything about that group that helps Lotor….I did say earlier he was gonna betray them
Episode 7: The legend Begins - THAT TITLE - WHOA What were those flashbacks????? - OOOOOOOOOOOHHHHHHHHHHHHH BACKSTORY~~~~~~~~~~~~ - Its weird seeing everyone not only younger looking….but also nice….im talking about you the most Zarkon <_< - OK OK OK BACK THE FUCK UP - How the hell does he know it can pass alternate realites? -Also…..that chick from the flashback….pretty sure it was Zarkon’s flashback…. - Oh so she isn’t from another reality….but she is altean….. - OK OK OK -OK OK LISTEN HERE SHOW - PPPPFFFFFFFFFFFFTTTTTTTTTTT Im SORRY BUT SHOW WHY?!?!?! It’s HILARIOUS seeing Zarkon so flustered omfg…. - But that right there makes him a bit more relateable damn….. - YOU KNOW!!!!!!!! I thought that was just a younger Allura sitting beside Alfor…but no….it’s her mom….HOLY SHIT THEY LOOK EXACTLY THE SAME XD - Also….Zarkon’s face at baby Allura XD - Ohhhh damn they got married….. - Zarkon and that one chick act a bit strange…..And then there is this creature…. - THAT APPARENTLY TOOK OVER WTF - Alfor’s planned probably doomed them and that’s why Zarkon hates him? - Nevermind the plan was Voltron - So that comet….gave the lions….sentience? - ok that one blue paladin acts EXACTLY like lance - so I guess these paladins aren’t going to expect Voltron….its just gonna happen - also that little thing turned into a big thing someone stop it - THEY ARE SO LIKE….THE EXACT THINGS THE OTHER PALADINS SAID WHEN THEY FIRST FORMED VOLTRON - WOW - yeah it’s the exact things…no wonder the lions chose current team Voltron XD - that’s a bit parallel to what shiro said to keith. “choose your battles” black paladin says to red paladin. “You have to know when its enough” says the red paladin to the black paladin. Hmmmmmmmmm - So that person is Haggar…makes sense….Wish I could have said I saw that one coming but she just looks so…..DIFFERENT from her usual self… -Ooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooohhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh so that weird rift is what made Zarkon soo………well….like the way he is now…Interesting… - Shiitttt…. You know Zarkon this is still All Your Fault!!! Because if you had just listened, and we all know you aren’t good at that, then you betray your comrades and friends….and then you act like they are the ones that betrayed you?!?!! <_< -Ok so are you telling me that Haggar or whatever her real name is wasn’t even aware of anything as herself until just now??? - oh and crap…..Zarkon is awake again… Overall thoughts: This was a transition season, I’m sure. We got a lot of info dumped into our hands and we and the characters have to sort it all out. Something doesn’t add up with shiro to me. How was he captured again? Why is his hair so long if he wasn’t gone that long? What about his outfit? What about the Shiro that Shiro saw on the table? What was this thing about...Kuron? He’s been “Approved for use in Operation Kuron”.... I think this is a clone, and Kuron is his identity....and the real shiro is still on that table.....I don’t have a good feeling about this... Plus there is Keith.....Shiro and Keith are now both leaders.....And are both in trouble for it because each has their own unique way of leading... I guess Keith is gonna have to be leader a bit longer... Meanwhile...I think “clone” shiro thinks he is actually Shiro...so that’s gonna be sad if this theory is right.... No sign of Matt or Sam yet....No Earth...no families...No mention of the Garrison.....I wanna know more about all of them... Then there is the backstory of Voltron and Zarkon and Haggar and Alfor..... :/ Hopefully we get more answers in season 4. Can’t wait!!!

Impressions about Voltron S3
Just finished binge watching Voltron S3...
Boy, what a season!!! :)
At least, I didn’t scream with the last few moments this time... but shit, it was IN-TENSE!!! So much things in so little time. It’s promising for a great next season! <3
Now, spoilers under the cut!! You are warned!!!!
First: I did say I didn’t want Keith to be the Black Paladin, and after what I saw, I stick to it. God fucking dammit!!! He could have killed his friends so many times I’m so mad at him right now... And he keeps taking bad decisions when everyone is telling him he’s wrong. I know no one likes to hear that, but for God’s sake, I want Keith to be the Red Paladin again!!! >.<
Second: Shiro. The episode when he comes back, I was confused 90% of the time. And then, I started thinking... His hair can’t have grown so much in so little time (it may have been a few weeks, but no more than a month and a half maybe) So I was very suspicious of that. And there’s clearly some experiments he went trough. Then his new look came, and most importantly, the Black Lion DIDN’T react to him, and a crazy and horrible idea is now glued to my mine: this Shiro is a CLONE. Or something like that. You can’t expect me to believe this guy, who had the EXACT same haircut before he was kidnapped by galra, will cut his hair different all of a sudden... it just doesn’t fit!! So, who is the Shiro in the team? O_O
Then, there’s Lotor... so far, I can’t get this guy. He is a cunning little monster, intelligent and a true tactician, I’ll give him that. But so far, I really don’t understand the point of all this. Before Zarkon went into a coma, he was already getting scultrite in “the Belly of the Weblum” and in this season, most of his actions are probably very clever, but I don’t get the bigger picture at all so far... He is a very complexe guy, the staff had said so, but this is honestly destabilizing. His actions the last few episodes really don’t make sense to me. My theory so far would be that the ship he build from this meteor is to travel through time, for some reason... maybe he wants to go back 10,000 years ago, get the lions when his dad couldn’t, and do something with it? Or maybe completely open a breach to get full quintessence... I don’t know, even for me, this wouldn’t make any sense... I’m honestly expecting a good explanation next season.
Also, Lotor’s ladies... God, I love them!! I should have noted there name while watching... The buff one reminds me of Jasper from Steven Universe, both in stature and attitude. The colorful one reminded me of Ty Lee in Avatar (still do) but she’s less pink cutie. I love that she’s so part cameleon or something. Her looks are so great <3 The “Keith’s mom” one, she is not Keith’s mom as far as we know. She is cool tho, she is intelligent and a great warrior. I wanna see more of her <3 The one with the cat is SOOOO underdevelopped so far. One nice scene showing the cat is her eyes, and then it’s nothing anymore... The cat is making me feel weird tho... cause Haggar had the same cat 10,000 years ago... wtf?!
And then, there’s the story of the first Paladins... O-M-G that episode... First, I never expected Alfor to be the Red Paladin... but I really like the way it was brought. Back when Allura said to Lance, that because he accepted Keith’s leadership, he became the “right hand of Voltron” aka the Red Pilot, I was honestly very happy. Now, the other paladins are just wonderful! I wish to know more about them... Then, there’s Zarkon and... Haggar... OMG, I can’t believe this is how everything happened... And most of all: ZARKON IS REALLY A LIVING CORPSE!!! *Walking Dead theme song in the background* I’m honestly freaked out by that... And that fucker! HE was the one slowly killing his planet, HE trapped his friends to achieve his goals, condamning his planet... and HE dares destroy Altea in retaliation?! FUCK YOU ZARKON!!! You’re the bad guy here!!!!!
Anyway... well, I needed to express myself a little about it. I’m in better condition that at the end of last season, thankfully. I’m glad we are getting the next episode in a few months, and not in half a year <3
PS: That parallel universe episode was very well done, I must say^^ I hope it is the only time we’ll “see” Shiro/Sven die in this show >.<
PS2: Also.... SNIPER LANCE CONFIRMED!!!!!!! I am blessed...
