#i honestly lowkey can't wait for interviews to come out

so....! yesterday's race was.... something....

firstly LET'S GO OSCAR !!!! HECK YEAH I'M SO PROUD OF HIM I CAN'T BELIEVE I GOT TO SEE HIM WIN HIS FIRST RACE !??!?!?! i do feel awful for lando ,, that entire situation created by mclaren was entirely unnecessary . their bullshit reason saying they needed to cover hamilton hence why lando got pitted first is so stupid -- it's like they realized they messed up and suddenly needed to come up with something to explain it .

it's especially frustrating because that entire mess that mclaren created only made it so that no matter what happened , fans would be mad: if lando won , people would be pissed that oscar didn't get his first win . oscar won , and now people are pissed that lando didn't win . and the entire win for oscar just doesn't feel the way it should: the energy surrounding his first win isn't as positive and exciting as it should be .

and that genuinely makes me so sad for oscar , because i know he's been waiting for this day . he's been waiting for his first win , and it's completely dampened and stomped on because of mclaren's awful strategy calls near the end . i was genuinely yelling at the screen when they pitted lando first , because what was that for ?? why pit him first ?? he did NOT need to cover hamilton , like there was genuinely no need for that . they were leagues away and lando was fast enough that he could have pitted second and still gotten p2 , or lando and oscar could have actually fought for p1 . and it wouldn't have had this bad , awkward energy around it like it does now .

mclaren seriously needs to get their shit together because they're only harming both of their drivers through these things . and them airing out dirty laundry (considering how they were saying "you need the team to win this championship" or how his race engineer mentioned the morning debriefs , etc. etc.) and trying to guilt trip lando over the radio is actually insane !!

it was honestly just a mess .

i also lowkey found it so funny how lewis was trying to break the tension in the cooldown room and lando was just NOT having it . bro was so mad , he threw his p2 cap on the floor and lewis just side-eyed him 😭 multi-21 all over again literally and lewis is in the middle of it , poor guy HAHA

now on to logan's race !! i felt so bad for him , i know he could have done well but unfortunately he had a really bad start and it all just went downhill from there :( the tyre strategy they had him on was... it actually pulled out of no man's land . i genuinely don't get what they were trying to go for there . it seriously sucks man , this weekend was almost his weekend and then it all went to hell 😭 his post-race interview broke me , too . the fact he looked like he was about to sob and said that start will haunt him ... please someone give him a HUG i need him to know we're so proud of him no matter what . shit start or not he did everything he could to fight for positions in that race :(

i was genuinely so confused about what their thought process was ,, and then the fact that logan had to pit for softs at the end because his hard tyres were destroyed... ugh . and we know logan is good at tyre management !! like that man gets a new set of tyres and he is gonna treat em REAL GOOD . so it just goes to show how much of a mess the tyre strategy was .

especially considering how on the radio alex was practically yelling at his engineer for being indecisive with the strategy , saying that the tyres are destroyed already and that they need to be more sure with what they want to do . williams seriously needs to start listening to both their drivers , honestly . it's incredible to me that this tyre fiasco happens SO often on race weekends . they need to get it fixed , and they need to fix it now.

also the fact we found out that alex's teammate is going to be revealed in two weeks... i am actually terrified !! i need either logan to stay with williams and they pull themselves together or he goes to another team that will treat him better .

overall this race was just . it was something . exciting for oscar , but still dampened by mclaren's mess ups and logan's race was doomed from the beginning , both because of his unfortunate start and tyre strat :/

hopefully next week will be better , for everyone , and the teams will get their shit together !!

stories i om-nom-nom'd :: february 2025 (weeks 3 & 4)

Got sick like three times back to back to back (along with sharko week) throughout the latter half of the month, so I'm putting weeks 3 and 4 together.

𝐓𝐡𝐞 𝐇𝐮𝐧𝐠𝐞𝐫 𝐆𝐚𝐦𝐞𝐬: 𝐂𝐚𝐭𝐜𝐡𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐅𝐢𝐫𝐞 – 3.5/5

Feels a bit topical watching these movies in these trying times, I gotta be honest. But also watching them again when I got older had me appreciate that much as part of the allure to the target audience was the love triangle, the focus wasn't actually on that. There was a build of the tension and the occasional reminder that there is a tension there for sure, but there was also an appreciated effort to show Peeta's character and how he didn't bitch and whine about Katniss having Gale in her life.

Also that twist reveal at the end that Plutarch was actually an inside man working for District 13 was a fun stroke of genius. I quite liked how that was handled. No heavy-handed foreshadowing seen here.

𝐓𝐡𝐞 𝐇𝐮𝐧𝐠𝐞𝐫 𝐆𝐚𝐦𝐞𝐬: 𝐌𝐨𝐜𝐤𝐢𝐧𝐠𝐣𝐚𝐲 𝐏𝐚𝐫𝐭 𝟏 – 3.5/5

It feels even more eerie watching this compared to the 2nd movie. It almost feels like a mirror of times to come, and I for one am lowkey scared of what we're about to witness in our lifetimes. The concept of hijacking in this universe is absolutely terrifying and also intriguing enough that my writer brain's going brrrr and wants to try and put a twist on that in a story one day.

And also Katniss' self-awareness that she was stringing along two boys was a bit unnerving, especially when she said "Did I lose them both tonight?" Like I get that they were going for distraught and that the vibe was supposed to be "The love of her life might have just died trying to save the love of her life", but I can't turn my brain off for long enough so that I wouldn't go "But wait hold on why does she have two loves of her life?"

𝐓𝐡𝐞 𝐇𝐮𝐧𝐠𝐞𝐫 𝐆𝐚𝐦𝐞𝐬: 𝐌𝐨𝐜𝐤𝐢𝐧𝐠𝐣𝐚𝐲 𝐏𝐚𝐫𝐭 𝟐 – 4/5

There's honestly so much about the story in this movie in particular that has my writer brain getting overcome with zoomies. And also this is one of those movies that has me feeling a special kind of sad nostalgia because it's the end of a years-long movie series so a bunch of characters that I've started to feel for sadly leave the screen (I'm still depressed over Finnick's death all these years later, he deserved to live his life with his wife and kiddo).

Do I think that Ke Huy Quan deserves to be an action movie lead with a bit more meat to the story? Yes. Did I still enjoy this movie and would I watch it again? Yes and yes. And also on a similar note, more comedy roles for Lio Tipton please, they deserve it.

Read this this month as a buddy read with one of my besties and when I tell y'all this book had me hollering with its comedy. I would recommend this to anyone that likes a romcom with fated mates and a dirty talking golden retriever of an MMC. Ohh, and also Alexis. We all need an Alexis in our lives. And Alexis deserves to be turned human and have the sexy merman of her dreams, thank you for coming to my TED Talk.

𝐂𝐡𝐞𝐟 & 𝐅𝐫𝐢𝐞𝐧𝐝𝐬

Chapter 2 Part 1, William Kang's Oh Pizza! Fred seems determined to still worm his way into getting under the skin of the team, so at this point this is no longer a business thing for him, he's going against Ethan's orders for the sake of having fun. I despise having to say it but Ethan was right, this one's a bigger problem than his bratty ass will ever be.

William's interview with Grace is about as disastrous as he could ever have it go, with her creating the most flowery praises for him regardless of what he actually says. And also she accidentally calls Greg "sweetheart" when he was looking for Claire and called out "honey", which sent her scurrying off to a corner somewhere. And honestly I wanted to find a corner to crawl into after that secondhand embarrassment.

William's also developed a bit of an attachment to the team, which I suspect is in part because our character's immune to his blessing/curse. But seeing that Claire was also shaken up with what Fred told her, he tries to offer some encouraging words for her to keep on the team's mission to help one restaurant at a time.

Of course at the end of this set of quests, Fred's visibly annoyed that he didn't crush Claire's morale but he's attributing it to having William help us, so I guess we'll have to face off with him in the next restaurant.

Chapter 2 Part 2, Auntie Pam's Sweet Tooth This is gonna be fun…Sweet Tooth is a former biker bar that Auntie Pam purchased and intends to turn into a bakery. Ethan initially decides against buying the property because it "looks too bad", but changes his mind in 0.5 seconds when Ashley goes "actually this place seems pretty cool". I swear if Ethan's got a schoolboy crush on Ashley after she saved his life a few episodes back, the telenovela is telenovela-ing.

I don't really have a lot of plans going into March, but there are some movies I'm looking forward to seeing (hopefully one of them in the cinema) like Mickey17, F Marry Kill, and (maybe) Snow White. And then books-wise, I just wanna get through like…idk 4? Maybe 5? We'll see if I can manage more, I have some work stuff mid-March that might eat up a good chunk of my time whew--

I’ve seen this in too many places so let me just say *ahem* tpn isn’t having a recap episode (read: production issues) to fuck with anyone personally, I’m like 99.9% sure of that.

btw it’s episode 5.5, not episode 6 - we’re not losing anything of the precious season people hate so much, so don’t you worry. People will get to hate the anime more next week - so have patience, children :D

rumors / assumptions - the likely cause is that when Shirai was brought onto the team late (ie after the manga ended), he wanted changes to what they already had and that’s (probably only partly - see covid existing) why they’re behind now. There was also an animator’s tweets going around basically confirming being overworked and that Shirai is involved / probably making changes.

this isn’t confirmed/official of course but it seems more likely to me than “ah yes, let’s ruin it more for everyone”. I doubt anyone on the team is thinking that. However, I’m not denying the committee / producers probably wanted Norman back for merch/events (see how popular Norman is in Japan, he trended like every episode even before he came back), so between the manga being done and there probably only being one more season, this is what we got.

Am I happy about the recap? no. of course not. I’m existential as fuck right now, I could have used some TPN in my life. but it’s not the end of the world. The staff is surely much more stressed than I am about it. I can’t be angry at them. I’m concerned for them, and I’m concerned for the quality of future episodes if it went so far as to need a delay. But moreso them. They’re still giving their best. The writing isn’t their fault. And the industry/decision (probably) isn’t the writers’ / director’s fault.

it’s a shame and if we could have, I would have preferred a full, proper adaptation too. Of course I would. I waited two years in a corner of the fandom, getting every arc spoiled for myself, just... waiting for the anime, and now I only get one more season? I’m having an identity crisis (not about the OP, though that makes me cry every time too).

In short: Nobody is happy.
