Millennial Mixtape Challenge

This year has been a lot of things for me - the realization that I’m getting old (I have a teenager), the publication of my first book, losing count of the amount of times I’ve watched Sons of Anarchy (I swear I’m in the double digits now), admitting to liking Tom Cruise in a movie. AND I’ve hit a thousand followers. Quadruple digits. 

In honor of this achievement, I’m putting together the Millennial Mixtape challenge. I had these songs on either a burned cd that I [redacted] songs for or a cassette tape that I [redacted] the songs off the radio for. I remember sitting in front of my stereo with a blank cassette in and ready…listening to American Top 40 with Kasey Kasem to get these songs. And he always talked over either the beginning or the end of the song.

Yes, I had trouble remembering the name and artist of these songs. Yes, I did google some of them. I did tell you I was getting old.

Book anon here to say today is a happy day because it is dk and vernon day ^0^ the fact they share bdays makes my heart so big like djakdnaks that's the best thing really! (I say this as I don't like celebrating my own birthday lol but that shiz makes me soft) like how can it not get better than sharing a birthday with your fellow bandmate who is also your buddy :'))

Back on topic, I am happy that in the fandoms I'm in, update blogs or accounts are well loved so no drama there but I agree on cc peeps, my gosh the decline of them is obvious for the past 2 years =/ I remember 2018 the carat fandom here was HUGE with creators and lots of notes but now...its hard to see more than 200 for some and while numbers don't matter because you should ALWAYS be doing this for fun, its so shocking to see the interaction go so low and its more likes. I do have a theory as to why this is the case and it might be due to nowadays, people on Tumblr find reblogging alot to be "too much" akaspamming. I would know because some told me I do this and I'm like ??? I am simply reblogging content I like and if it means hitting the rbelog limit so be it djajdjw. Legit idk why its seen as bad nowadays when everyone used to reblog alot and no one complained so maybe this could be why? Again a theory but it would make sense and its a shame if this is the case :c I admit I like stuff because I sometimes do reblog it for a color theme but mostly I hit the reblog limit so I want to reblog it later xD

But let's not get into people that take others work as their own -.- now I get giving credit for say icons (I do this for icons and headers I use because its the least I can do. I would link it but idk how to do it on Tumblr lol) but taking someone's say gif and just posting it on twitter to share is like ??? You do know there is a share button that SHARES THE ORIGINAL LINK BACK RIGHT? Smh i can't with people. That's why I try to make sure for icons at least I know its not a repost and try to stay away from pintrest as best as I can (also svt on pintrest? Are they making moodboards or smth? I leave Tumblr for a bit and this is what I come back to lol)

I'm late answering this but yeah the fact that dk and vernon share a Birthday is super sweet! it's fun that they get to do their birthday live together as well ^^

but yeah i joined carat tumblr around late 2017/early 2018 (i made this side blog during oh my era but I'd been reblogging svt stuff on main before then) and I'm p sure most if not all the cc's i originally followed are inactive now :( obviously like you said content creators should make content for fun and bc they want to and not for the notes, but it's understandably disheartening when less people are interacting with it and even the people who do still see your content are (at least seemingly) less enthusiastic about it (ie liking but not reblogging it, less ppl writing things in the tags or replies, etc.)

but that's so wild to me? I've never heard anyone say someone is reblogging too many things like... how do you expect to see posts if people don't reblog stuff?? id welcome that extra content on my dash dhfjfh. i guess you can go in specific tags but like. idk reblogging is the main function of tumblr i don't know why there are people sort of against it/not as willing to use it (i mean... i suspect at least one factor is other social media platforms relying more on algorithms and likes to show people new content and ppl are just more used to that maybe?)

i feel like to some extent people feel entitled to have every or any gif or fanart or fan content on their platform of choice, but like if an artist posts something on tumblr but not on twt or instagram it doesn't HAVE to be on twt or insta. people can make a tumblr (or whatever platform) account if that's the only place a creator is active and they really want to see their content. and if people want to share something cool to another platform it is not hard to just post a link to the original post and tell people to check it out. like i do that every once in a while if there's a translation that doesn't allow reposts, but i still want ppl to know that trans exists if they wouldn't normally. and yeah!! you're gonna get less engagement that way!! but that's when you need to question whether your intention is really to share something cool w people who wouldn't normally see it or if you just want clout from this cool thing for yourself

and obviously not everyone who reposts things wo credit or permission has such innocent intentions as "i want to share this cool thing" but i think in a lot of cases it is something similar to that where ppl see something and they want to use it or share it for whatever reason and they just forget that it's something an actual person took the time to create and chose to share it. fan creations, unless otherwise specified, are not like memes in that they're intended to be shared and edited and copied to hell and back

but yeah pinterest is the worst in terms of reposts. like very little if any of the content on there (at least that's fandom related) is original content. the vast majority is reposts from other platforms without credit. a few weeks ago i saw someone on twt post like an old SVT photo or something and someone asked where it was from and they were like 'idk i saw it on pinterest' and when i tell u my blood boiled dhfkfj like!! ok!! so you're reposting a repost and u have no idea what the original source is... great

but yeah i have no idea what SVT is gonna do with pinterest... guessing it's just gonna be pledis posting official/behind photos that they also post on twt anyway. it really looks like it's something bh made them create given other bhl artists also have pinterests they're all following each other. also pledis didn't even officially announce the new account opening anywhere as far as I've seen so like. i think they really don't care dhfkfj

i really don't know what bh thinks they're gonna gain though like. ik there are active fandom pinterest users but i think most of them also have other social media like twt or insta. like they're not cracking open a huge new market, and LITERALLY NO ONE expects any musician or celeb to have an official Pinterest so. it's just so unnecessary dhfkgj

hey y’all i am THIRTY today and while i’ve been a bit too sick and stressed to get either the cute comic or this one ot3 post done on time, i DID play the labyrinth of refrain demo and get a hankering for a dungeon crawler

remember my etrian odyssey v demo fam from literally a year ago? well i made an impulse nostalgia trip to the eshop, so without further ado, here’s the new dungeon crew:

the front line:

first up, it’s balthazar, an earthlain fencer! not much to say about him except for some reason he gets beat up more than anyone else on the team. i don’t know what makes him such a target; his face isn’t even that smug

current specialty: blinding foes by, i’m guessing, stabbing out their eyes, and getting walloped

next on the front is hannah, a therian masurao and our main damage dealer, even before i dropped a huge chunk of change on a NICE sword for her. now she does at least 2x the damage of anyone else. if the enemy’s weak to slash attacks, make that three times

her defense is not quite as high as balthazar’s, but she also doesn’t get beat up as much, so it’s working out okay

current specialty: BRINGING THE PAIN

rounding out the front line is everyone’s uncle, raphael, an earthlain dragoon. his class description says “backline defender,” presumably bc his weapon is ranged and the back line takes less damage, but his very presence was drawing attacks to the whole line. on our very second battle, poor cass got OHKO’d. he was constantly on the brink of death. just moving raph to the front line has done wonders for cass’ constitution, even if raph himself takes some more damage (it’s his job, at least)

current specialty: “decoy bunker,” a bunker in front of the party that draws in attacks and can take quite a lot of damage despite only having 10hp. having a ranged weapon is also very helpful

the back line:

replacing ambriel as team healer, it’s everyone’s son, jack, a brouni botanist! with a melee weapon on the back line he deals the least damage, but that’s okay bc he spends most of his time healing. if you didn’t know, etrian odyssey games are rough. normally your time in the labyrinth is dictated by how much of your extremely limited inventory space is left, but in our case, when jack runs low on TP is when we have to hoof it back to town

current specialty: well, we’d all be dead all of the time without him. also, he’s just so cute

last but not least, it’s cass, a celestrian warlock. if you couldn’t tell, he’s the mage. at our current level, unfortunately, he’s more economical as another physical attacker, but like jack he was wielding a melee weapon from the back line and thus doing piddling damage. unlike jack he doesn’t have another job to occupy him, so i took away his wand and gave him a gun. now he deals respectable damage

current specialty: taking the least amount of hits to go down. well okay his magic attacks are getting better and very useful in a pinch, as long as he can cough up the TP

so this is the new AU du jour. is it cheating? kind of, so go ahead and block the tag “u: etrian odyssey” if you’re bored to tears, but there will be a lot of content for this bc EO really outdid themselves with this one in terms of actual role-playing and individual character involvement. it’s a lot of fun!

if nothing else, this will give me a chance to clear out my drafts folder, too, which is backlogged to the tune of almost 100 posts, just bc i don’t have enough original content to go with it. to start, i think i’ll queue 2 of these posts a day, plus two reblogs, for a full 400% increase in daily posts!

hello friends !! i am v v tired and emotionally distraught over the fact i was wrongfully terminated today but in more exciting news, this blog has officially turned ONE month old and i hit 200 followers today :-) thus, this calls for my first follow forever. i’ll also be prefacing it with a super cheesy blurb abt how much i love this blog and all of y’all, so buckle your seatbelts and get ready to go !!

when i started this blog, i had no idea i would experience this much joy from writing and interacting with all of you !! i had rp'ed in the past in groups, indie, and 1x1, but this was my first time really entering the krpc, or for those of you don't know korean roleplaying community. i remember using kpop fcs in groups and often being ignored for not using a lot of the mainstream fcs in american pop culture. now that i have this blog, i feel so #blessed to be able to interact with others who use kpop fcs and have high-quality writing as well !! on a more personal note, this blog has really helped me keep in touch with my writing and overall self. writing has always been difficult for me bc i felt like it was so time-consuming (not like i have anything else to do) and obligatory especially within the tumblr community, but all of you have been so patient while i dealt with irl problems such as work and college !! as a result, it really encourages me to try my hardest and push myself as a writer to reply as efficiently as possible. occupying myself like this has kept my mind off of other things going in my life in a way that my own personal writing outside of tumblr couldn't do. it always took me back to the dark place where i was alerady at, a lot of relating to my own personal experiences. now i'm ngl, there's some self-insert here and there with my characters. wooyoung was created to help me sort out my alcoholc tendencies. but the stories themselves take on an entirely new light, your muses helping mine develop into BETTER characters and people overall. being able to create this growth not only encourages me as a writer, but as a person as well. i personally connect with my characters a lot even if they lead different lives than me and care for them as if they were real. even if i'm not always the strongest for myself, knowing that i have my muses, our threads, and a loving community keeps me grounded. i don't rly have many other ppl in my life, so to have the krpc supporting and interacting with me has given me the boost i need. thank you all so much for that. now onto the more fun stuff !!

@chimxrical​: although i touched upon it briefly in my other positivity post, you've helped both me and hongbin grow so much. ours was the first thread to truly grab me and push me beyond the standard threads that die out or don't grow very much. you always replied so quickly and it rly made me excited to see how interested you were in our thread as well. i never expected hongbin to grow to as much as he has thus far, only the construct "sugar daddy politician" in my mind when i first conceived him. he had an icy air as part of his job that i myself even couldn't penetrate through at first without meifen warming up to him. his interactions with her really unveiled to me the more intimate layers of his character, that he had a lot of pain and tenderness going on beyond his work. that he didn't always have to be as tough as his work made him, that it was okay for him to dive into the softer dimensions of his personality. i didn't go into hongbin x meifen with all the details that we know about him know like his schizophrenic mother and his strong notions of justice and making the world a better place. but the more he interacted with meifen, the more insight i began to gain into who he was and how deeply his details connected with me. hongbin and meifen's (and don't forget kyungri's) headcanons have always brought joy to me and i love thinking of how far hongbin and meifen will get together the more that our thread develops. and for you as a mun, you've always been SO patient and supportive. whenever i have questions or just want to share something with you, you welcome me with open arms. you have such a kind heart and it shows through all of your characters. thank you for always being there and your wonderful replies to our threads <3

@cxrrvptvs​: omg where do i begin ?? i love stanning exo with you and internally screaming over all of the angst between taeyong and jinwoo and all the fluff between sunghyun and dohyun. our muses just love each other very much and it's one of the best things that's happened like ?? your replies are always on point and i love all of your muses. you portray them so amazingly and i love it whenever you add a new one !! your threads with other ppl are so fun to read too tho i do kind of side eye like taeyong's jealous ass would but it's all good bc that's how multi-muse shipping works :-) hands down one of my favorite ppl to roleplay with and i can't wait to have a million more threads with you !!

so i haven’t made a personal post since 2015???? maybe 2014????? and my blog has been mostly a queue for several years and any life updates i have posted have been in tags of reblogs so hello again

1. i graduated with a psychology degree in 2016 and i’m currently working on a master’s degree in research psychology (focusing on forgiveness in friendships)

2. for the past 4 summers i’ve worked at a summer school in my town with special needs elementary school kids (preschool to 2nd grade)

3. i believe all time low and 5 seconds of summer are tied for the bands i’ve seen most live (3-4 times each)

4. i only got my license this summer at 23 (7 years after i got my permit the first time then it expired and i got it again last summer)

5. i have two cats (pretty girl and snowball)

6. my lockscreen is a collage of sara bareilles that i made and my homescreen is a different collage that i requested someone on tumblr to make

7. i’m supposed to be a bridesmaid for one of my college roommates who is getting married in 2019
