"What?" Valerie snapped. After years of wearing the mask, she'd adapted to exaggerating her tone to communicate emotion, so Danny knew she wasn't really mad at him.

"What what?" He couldn't contain the smile growing across his face.

"You know what, quit staring at me. It's creepy, especially with your glowing eyes. If you want something just ask." She crossed her arms, swinging her legs so she could face Danny instead of dangling them off the building they'd stopped to rest on.

The electrical feeling of ectoplasm flowing through his veins aggregated in his cheeks, turning them a sickly green. He rubbed the back of his neck nervously, taking in a deep breath and acting before he could think better of it. "Can I have a kiss?"

Her answer was immediate. "No."

But before he could start apologizing or turn invisible or fly away, she poked his cheek.

"Not unless you stop acting like such an idiot on patrol. Help me- and I mean actually help me, don't just stand there making puns and joking around- catch Skulker and I'll think about it."

Without hesitation Danny lept off the roof, floating just in front of her.

"Well then what are we waiting for? Let's go get his ass back in the Ghost Zone, we don't have all night! C'mon, I think I saw him flying this way," Danny took off, only somewhat confident that she would be right behind him. He considered himself proficient at reading her tones, so much so that he could glean her emotions with only a few words. Right then, he would've given anything to be able to see her face, because her voice gave him nothing.

If he could've, he'd be blinded by her ear-to-ear grin. She got onto her feet, calling forth her hoverboard and jetting off after him. She really hoped they'd catch Skulker tonight.
