Ughh one thing I love about kletzmer is the emphasis on clarinet so many songs have. It makes me want to pick mine back up and play this by ear...

This is probably going to be quite a long post so hold onto your hats!

So, I play three instruments: the piano, the clarinet and the bass clarinet!

The piano - I've played the piano for the longest (around 4-6 years, I'm not sure) and taken exams up to grade 4 (ABRSM, which is one of the British examining boards). In my most recent exam, there was an admin error and they thought I was doing a different type of exam, so I just had to muddle through with what I had. When I got back to my car, I cried, then brought and ate a shortbread bunny (this was around Easter), then went back to school and did an hour of German as if nothing ever happened.

The clarinet - I first picked this up 2 years ago, and haven't put it down since. It's just a cool instrument, and I think it's neat (I can also play the fun runs/riffs in the background of No-one Remembers Achmed).

The bass clarinet - I picked the bass clarinet up very recently (about 6 months ago). Since then I have: played it in my school's orchestra, played it onstage in a production I was in (this was a play, not a musical), and played it in another concert band that I am a part of. In the play where I played it onstage, I worked out what I needed to play by ear, and then transposed it. I transposed it correctly, so I am very proud of myself for that.

I play a lot of jazz and musical theatre on all three instruments, and just kind of do it all for fun.

[do I keep plants] Not really, but I keep flowers that people give me/are trinkets at fairs or smth. I have a dead one on my desk from a fair thingy that I totally need to throw away, and I have one in the freezer that was a gift from a fellow cast member of a play I was in. The one in the freezer still looks intact.

[what's my favorite instrument] Mysterious how am I supposed to answer this :( I play clarinet. I have an oboe that I'm trying to learn this summer, but I haven't been doing that a lot lol.

I have a list of instruments I want/want to learn. I used to play violin but I don't anymore bc we returned the violin and I would like to pick it up again. I'd also like to learn viola because it looks cool but apparently they have an entire different fucking clef?? called an alto clef??? like wtf why would they do that to me

I'd also like to learn saxophone. Either soprano, alto, or tenor, idrc. But it's a cool instrument. Id also like to play bass clarinet because it is literally the same as normal clarinet just Big. it's in the treble clef and everything. It's just Big clarinet. I would love to learn guitar. it seems like such an important piece for like background music on tracks and just. I wanna learn it. and its the most common thing that people use for chords. I have a piano that I fuck around with, but I don't know how to use chords and shit but I know how to play the shit out of the melody.

I also need to learn to read the bass clef. I played flute in 4th grade and I'd kind of like to play it again

The blue is rly nice, but if I moved, I think I'd paint three walls light lavender, and one the marshmallow white.

Hi! yes I sing in a choir! I also used to sing in our (very good) school choir and had singing lessons for 3 years, so I guess i play my voice (haha)

But I also play the harp, i had lessons forrrrr 12 years i think? but i haven't really played for a few years tho... i always say i'm gonna pick it up again (i played a little bit a month ago but then i had to leave for a few days and when i got back i didn't pick it up again)

also just to clarify I don't have one of those huuuuge concert harps, mine is a bit smaller <3 i love her <3

aaaand the odds that we're being blessed by a Teylabeth orchestra AU is going towards... zero... at least from me. I'm not big on writing AUs buuut now i'm going to think of it.

but an instrument for Teyla, hmm. Maybe the flute? or... i might be self inserting but i honestly think the harp would be a cool instrument to her? you know kinda because she's so small and (concert) harps are so big? Also i feel like harpists are good with their hands and (piggybacking off of one of @logicgunn 's heardcanons from earlier) Teyla is *definitely* very good with her hands (plus harpists tend to have long fingers :)

or, alternatively Teyla could just... sing? bc we know she definitely can do that? so either she would join the orchestra for a big thing like... ok again I'm biased but it could be a big concert with big orchestra and big choir and Teyla is one of the soloist. or if we stick to the harp thing it could be similar and just the orchestra and Teyla being there with the harp (harps are unfortunately not the most common orchestra instrument so it might be a bit of a special arrangement that she is joining it)

so... there you go, this is probably the closest i will ever get to writing an orchestra au (although i'm kinda curious if i could do it...)

sorry i havent been around in a while, things have gotten crazy, im sure you get it. my first day of being a sophmore (10th grader) starts tomorrow and while im not extremely nervous it is also 11:50 at night and i have to wake up at 6:15, ignore the specific time as it is never specific, its an estimate at best.

i have this thing called band camp that has been going on for the last couple of days. basically i play my trumpet (her name is Margaret) for 4 hours in preparation for football season (im in the band, we have to play at football games) idk where you are ofc, so to clarify, this is american football. the concussion sport.

i picked up tarot reading and it's super silly, i would recommend. its funny to think that the cards are supposed to have their own personality. id say that i dont see it, but they told me to shut up once, sassy ass cards...

Do you know how to play any musical instruments?

I played clarinet in middle and high school, so yes, kinda!

I was in the school band and played first chair for the majority of my time in school.

Don't know how good I'd be in picking it up again as I haven't played it in almost 20 years at this point and I sold my clarinet to my school so some other kid can have an instrument so I don't have mine anymore, but in theory, I think I could still play it!

The former co-stars are reuniting on an episode of 'Night Court,' airing Feb. 6 on NBC.

Kunal Nayyar and Melissa Rauch's time on The Big Bang Theory may have ended years ago but the same cannot be said for their friendship. 

During a recent visit on the set of Rauch's show, Night Court, ET's Denny Directo spoke with the pair, who are set to reunite on the Feb. 6 episode of the NBC comedy. While it has already been four years since Rauch, 43, and Nayyar, 42, saw their hit CBS comedy come to a close, time has not separated them or the friend group at large. 

"We've never fallen out of love," Rauch said of maintaining a relationship with Nayyar and the other cast members, including Kaley Cuoco, Johnny Galecki, Simon Helberg, Jim Parsons and Mayim Bialik. 

"I think, yeah, I think we'll always be a part of each other’s lives," Rauch, who plays Judge Abby Stone on the Night Court reboot, said. "We're just always in each other's hearts and it's just family forever."

"One hundred percent," echoed Nayyar. "Yeah, it's even deeper than family, to be honest. It's difficult to explain but yeah, of course, we're always -- we're all in each other’s lives." 

It's not surprising as the cast spent more than a decade with each other day in and day out, playing the lovable bunch of nerds that made the long-running series the iconic show that it is known as today. Rauch joined the cast in season 3, playing Bernadette Rostenkowski -- the love interest of Helberg's Howard Wolowitz-- while Nayyar, an original member of the cast, played astrophysicist Raj Koothrappali. 

For Rauch and Nayyar, however, when the chance arose for them to pull off a reunion on Night Court -- which is currently in its second season -- the answer was obvious and things fell into place like no time had passed.

"It definitely feels like we're in a time machine, for sure," Rauch said. 

For his part, Nayyar told ET that he may have had a hand in forging a role for himself on the show as he had been pleading with his friend since her show was picked up to bring him on. 

"He's been so incredibly supportive, I just didn't know if I wanted to work with him again 'cause he's such a monster," Rauch said jokingly about waiting until the second season to have her friend co-star. 

As for what viewers can expect from their on-screen reunion, the friends played it coy as to what the upcoming episode entails but said that there appears to be a potential love connection between their characters. 

According to TVLine, Nayyar is playing fashion designer Martini Toddwallis. During his time at night court, he finds inspiration "and maybe even a new muse," the outlet shared.

"I have to say what was very exciting about this is this week there is a bit of romance between the fashion designer [and Abby.] The role that he plays and Abby, it's very fun to play 'cause we haven't done that since," she said, before Nayyar chimed in with "The Bollywood dance number." 

The Big Bang Theory alums are, of course, referencing a scene from season 4 of their CBS series, where Raj daydreams a musical number with Bernadette, whom he is secretly in love with. In fact, in an Instagram promotion for the upcoming episode of Rauch's NBC comedy, Nayyar dramatically recites a poem his Big Bang Theory character wrote to Rauch's character. 

"Oh Bernadette, please play my clarinet," Nayyar says as the camera pans to Rauch sitting at her judge's bench. 

Will Nayyar and Rauch's characters on Night Court repeat history as lovers not meant to be? Only time will tell when the episode airs on Feb. 6.

As for what it was like to be an outsider watching the longtime friends and co-stars come back together, Rauch's current co-star, John Larroquette, said it was "great" to see them back in action. 

"It's great, it's lovely to see two old friends who spend so much time together in a very successful time together," the actor and original Night Court star, 76, said. "You can't help but enjoy their rapport and their camaraderie."

And I know I can't expect to be perfect after a over decade without practice, but I sounded like a beginner picking it up for the first time and I know that's to be expected but it is still distressing

Ikkan: Don't be ridiculous, it's reasonable size. It's not a mansion or anything. It's a nice quiet place away from the city.

Ikkan: The kitchen is fully stocked, vegetables, fruit, fish, I also have chicken.... just a little bit though it's hard to find.

Ikkan: I have four streaming service subscriptions and cable. I also have a Nintendo console I don't really use it that much.

Ikkan: Uhhhhh........what else? Oh I have a cleaning lady that comes every Monday and Thursday at 6:00 a.m. named Coral she's really nice. I always put you know 200 tip on the kitchen counter for her.

Neta: she hot?

Ikkan: Neta!

Ikkan: humph.......... I have a recording booth downstairs I don't really go to the studio anymore so if you don't see me I'm downstairs.

Neta: can I go down there?

Neta:hmmm, she's mine now. Oh hello who is this? Is this you in high school? You look so weird without your goatee.

Ikkan: yeah.... that's me, I think that was sophomore year.

Neta: what's that You're holding?

Ikkan: it's a bassoon I used to play it in school I was first chair .... I played clarinet and saxophone....... during senior year and...... I got my upright bass ....uhhh...ummm it's dumb, I'm sorry I stopped playing them anyway.

Neta: that's not dumb! that's really cool. Do you still have them?

Ikkan: I still have them I haven't picked them up in a while, I just use them to fill a room.

Neta: can you play for me?

Ikkan: no.

Neta: pleeease, pretty please. For me.

Ikkan: No, Neta no

Neta: do it for nibble then, come on. I want to see you perform, a private show just for me wink wink

Ikkan: I messed up some notes sorry uh.... It wasn't that great.

Neta: ikkan that was amazing. Are you kidding me, why don't you ever play these instruments in your music?

Ikkan: No one wants to hear a bassoon at a punk concert.

Neta: You don't know that! Ikkan you're so talented and have so many amazing skills. Sometimes It feels like you don't want to share it with people. You have so much potential to branch out with your music, show a different side of you. I see so much passion and talent in you babe..... I just want everyone else to see it too.

Ikkan: hmmmmmmmm.......... do you want to see my books of sheets music?

Neta: hell yeah, I would be honored to see your sheet music. I know I say this is a lot but you're really impressive honey it's amazing what you can do.

Ikkan: thank you........you do say that a lot. You said that to a kid who blew tea into a cup with their mouth.

Neta: you just had to be there okay, they didn't even use their hands.

Ikkan: you sent me three videos of it in different angles.

Neta: you just had to be there in person It was really cool.

week zero

Day 1: song of the day: i don’t care if you’re contagious - pierce the veil

I lost my airpods and the $20 replacement… not a fun experience there. Moving in was not too much of a hassle, but last minute shopping was a pain. I already have so many of these things at home, but I forgot to bring them when I was packing, but it's fine. I’ve got what I need with me now. My roommates are great, super nice, and we’re getting along. I need a better showering strategy though, what I did today did not work.

Day 2: song of the day: like you know i get old - salvia palth, ew - joji

I did quite a lot today, got 20k steps in, mostly from running around where I didn’t need to go. I honestly don’t even remember what I did in the morning, besides getting up earlier than I intended, getting breakfast with Abby, one of my roommates, and playing guitar with Mark. He gave me two picks and showed me some technique things, so nice. I played piano again. It took me a while to get back into it, but it was nice, I hope i’m able to keep it up. Maybe I can play piano for jazz band. I don’t really want to play clarinet in orchestra or symphonic, and there isn’t a lot of room for it in a lot of jazz ensembles for some reason. I walked to ASP (African Student Programs) then back to Lothian because the location of a meeting wasn’t clear. I got asked for directions…I guess I don’t look like a freshman. I’m on day 4 of my duolingo streak. I went to the gym today and… wow some people really know what they are doing. The gym was the discord meetup, meeting up with more people tomorrow hopefully. Washed up after saying bye to my parents (and getting my airpods back.) Got boba hosted by a ministry, they’re cool people. Got back to Lothian, played piano, then went to bed. I met a business major… he’s chill. I need to know more girls fr. Hopefully will meet more in my major.

Day 3: song of the day: karolina by awilo

I don’t really have anything to do today, I’ll probably try to do laundry. Don't know where the replacement earbuds went, but they're somewhere in my stuff.

Day 4: song of the day: september by earth, wind, & fire

I didn’t do laundry. I did figure out a shower strategy. I got dinner with someone from the discord server, and on the way back from the dining hall (keep in mind, there is also one in the dorm, but we're saving that for the lazy days) we saw a raccoon and it jumped this guy's shoe and walked off like nothing happened. I got it on video, too. Hope to see more racoons.

Day 5: song of the day: hessian peel by opeth

I did do laundry. I also met someone from elementary school when I was in the laundry room, helped her with some stuff. I was late to a lunch thing, but I was able to meet some grad students who think I'm cool. Free food is also amazing, wish I took tupperware to get more of the tortilla wraps. They were really good. I ate one for dinner, too and proceeded to finish season 6 of desperate housewives. I have an interesting habit of stopping in the middle of an episode to go to bed, but I finish what I start in regards to my shows. (I still haven't watched the final episode of dynasty out of fear that I'll cry, and Miraculous still isn't over, so those are exceptions.)

Day 6: song of the day: haunt me (x3)

I slept in a lot today, and then got ready for block party, which ended up being really boring for me. Stood in line (in the very hot sun) with the business major, talked a bit, went on some bungee jump/trampoline things. The DJ annoyed me, and the artists kinda did as well, but I knew it wasn’t music I’m into. I mainly went for the discord meetup, which was successful. Met two commuters who are super active on the server. They’re both cool people.

Day 7: song of the day: i was all over her by salvia palth

I didn’t sleep until like 3 am because the block party was too overwhelming for me and the room was too cold and I had my first asthma attack in a few years. Not too bad. Forgot to take my allergy medication for the past three days, so that probably contributed to the asthma act up. The rest of the day was fine though, I woke up, took a shower, went to breakfast with my roommates, went to church where everyone kept asking me if I was eating well enough at college, came back and tried searching for research opportunities that interest me. Proceeded to play Minecraft for an hour, then go swimming with my roommates. The pool was a workout, just like the rest of this rather hilly campus. Walk back was uneventful. Got back to my dorm, took a shower, had a hall meeting that lasted for so long, then got back to my room to set a dumpster fire in the discord server and figure out how to make this blog.

Wow I didn't know you could play several instruments! To me (not musical in the slightest) 3 instruments is a lot :o I think it makes you really cool! 😎 Did you start learning and practising from a young age?

A really short one for the taz November celebration!

Day 1. crunch, kiss

The sky is a sea of colors of red, orange, and purple as the sun sets over the Neverwinter skyline. A light autumn breeze rustles the dying leaves of the trees standing in a sprawling park, and the ones loosed from their branches float gently down to cover the ground below in a orange, yellow, and brown blanket. On one pathway leading around a large, sparkling lake, the leaves crunch underneath a couple's boots as they stroll by, hand in hand. The smaller one is a medium dark skinned elf with olive undertones and long, dark, golden and brown hair done up in a braid. He's wearing a wizard's hat bedazzled with the same silver sequins as his light blue blouse and galaxy leggings. His partner is a human a little taller than he is and darker toned. He's wearing a white dress shirt, black pants, and a black suit jacket with golden sequins, and his black braids are done up in a high ponytail with a golden ribbon.

The elf, Taako, looks over at Kravitz with a warm smile as he says, "So did you ever get to go to school to become a conductor? Or did you die before you had a chance to do that?"

"Yeah, I got accepted at one of the best conservatories at the time, but I wasn't there long enough to really get into advanced music theory and arrangement and actually conducting. I used to be able to play quite a few instruments really well though and got in through a scholarship to play in their symphony." Kravitz says.

"Sweet! What instruments did you play?"

"My main instrument was the clarinet, but I also played the violin, oboe, and the french horn for a bit. I was working on that one before I got dragged back into my mom's business." He says a little bitterly.

Taako doesn't press on that. Instead, he laughs and says, "That's a lot of instruments, Krav. Do you still play?"

Kravitz shakes his head. "I haven't really had the chance to pick it back up over the years. I've mostly been focused on my work. It would be fun to get back into it though." He says wistfully.

"Why don't you?" Taako asks.

"What, start playing again?"

"Yeah."

Kravitz shrugs. "I don't have any of my instruments anymore."

"Babe, I have enough money to get you whatever instrument you want," Taako says. "Just say the word, and I can hook you up."

Kravitz stops walking to stare at him. "I- Thank you? You- you don't have to do that for me though, you know that right?" He says nervously.

"Yeah, you're right, I don't, but I'm gonna anyway," Taako says. "I will say this though. If I get you an instrument, you have to serenade me." He winks.

Kravitz blushes and looks away with a soft smile on his face. "Maybe when I get good at it again. Thank you, Taako."

Taako chuckles softly. "Well, if I have to wait until you get good at it again, can I have one thing right now?"

Kravitz looks back at him and opens his mouth to respond, but Taako wraps his arms around his neck and pulls him in gently for a kiss. Kravitz puts his hands on Taako's waist and deepens the kiss, and they stay like that as the last rays of sunlight shine behind them, giving them a soft, golden glow.
