working on a sock pattern and not only is the description of how to do the shell stitch incorrect in the explanation of the stitch, it's also wrong in the pattern itself.

In fact, I have to take the second row of the first explanation and match it to the second row of the second explanation to actually get the damn thing to work.

Never trust a shell pattern that says, "repeat row X" as the instruction for continuing a shell pattern. Unless the shells are stacked on top of each other (rare), this is just fucking wrong.
